✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 1✨
So stoked for the finale episodes on Wednesday I can't wait so to harness my excited/anxious energy I'm going to post and answer a TBB/Star Wars related question each day - would love if other people joined in/interacted!!! (positive interactions only! no bashing, only loving!)
Day 1 prompt: Who's your favorite batcher and why?
I'll try to answer this not as a 5 page thesis 😂 literally since they exited the Marauder in TCW S7E1 I've loved Crosshair. He's normally not the type of character I point at and say "that one's my new brain fixer" but I loved how subtly the animators gave him tells of his softness/fondness to show he's not all snark and arrogance and I thought his tattoo was so freaking cool and had the coolest skills displayed during that arc. I mentally wrapped him in a blanket and haven't let go. Combine that now with his arc through TBB series?? Oh babes, I'm never letting him go
Tell me your favorite batcher!!

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 6✨
Day 6: SHARE YOUR FAVORITE TBB HEADCANONS!!! Let the siliness/feels/absurdity fly. What about our favorite brothers and sister lives rent free in your mind now??
prompt, countdown, and the tag #tbb finale count down, by @questforgalas
Omega is force sensitive, and likely has a midi count close to Obi-Wan (who canonically has one of the lowest counts in the Jedi Order and still made a Master Jedi)
Because she has no training with the force she's never actually moved anything and only gets feelings.
Crosshair is the most insecure of the batch, which was never much an issue until order 66 left him the only clone force 99 member "weak" enough to be influenced by a mind controlling chip.
Which only aggravated all the issues and feelings relating to clone force 99 abandoning him as the enhanced chip's influence started to finally die down.
Hunter was terrified of Crosshair after seeing him under the influence of the chip, and that's a large reason he didn't suggest a rescue mission at any point. (That wasn't his brother anymore...)
This goes against what the show has shown us- but the Marauder has a cockpit, mid ship (where the crash seats are), CO's room with a tiny attached refresher, a larger room with four built in bunks with an attached refresher, the gun, and a lower area which is the storage and cargo bar.
The Bad Batch television show is about moving on/change/loss in a way that will end with each member of the batch separated and doing their own things.
In a modern AU I imagine Tech's job is to learn. To be an academic and study things and get doctorates. So he spends all his time at universities.
Crosshair is a retired Olympian Archer, who now owns the coffee shop the family live above. He spends most of his working hours making the drinks, but will never talk to customers unless it's to tell them off for being shit to his employees.
Hunter is a wildlife educator, the kind that go to elementary schools with their animals to teach kids about cool lizards and big birds. All of the animals are well taken care of.
Wrecker is a personal trainer, a damn good one that never talks about bodies like they are products to customize kinda way.
Echo is a retired war vet, having fought in Iraq. He's home the most, and thus the most parent-figure to Omega, who is in school with dreams of being a doctor (time will likely change this goal).
In a modern AU Tech and Crosshair are twins, Hunter is the oldest, and Wrecker the youngest. Echo is their Uncle and Omega is a distant cousin who they adopted when her parents passed at a young age.

They Call Themselves The Bad Batch
Parallels between TCW S7 E1 and TBB S3 E11
Watching the latest TBB episode, I realized there are some striking parallels between the very first time we meet our boys in season 7 of the Clone Wars, and watching them be hunted down on Pabu after everything they’ve been through. I know this isn’t the last episode, but this is the countdown to wrapping up this part of their story. Let’s take a look at the first time we see them on screen vs. now:
Tumblr media
TCW: The Bad Batch is brought in to help find an algorithm on Anaxes that has been causing the GAR to lose tons of battles by “learning our tendencies and using that data against us”. Rex was one of the army’s best tacticians and he was being defeated by his own strategies being copied.
TBB: CX-2 uses every tactic that the Batch possesses against them (tracking, data decryption, sniping, hand to hand, demolition). The Batch was the best the army had and they are defeated by CX-2 in this episode.
Tumblr media
TCW: Cody asks his superiors (Mace and Anakin) to let him take a team and go behind enemy lines in order to try and find/defeat this algorithm.
TBB: Omega convinces Crosshair to help her give herself up to go back to Tantiss so they can finally rescue the clones still imprisoned there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Rex looks at a picture of his “family” - Cody, Fives and Echo. Also, this is where we get Cody’s famous line “sometimes in war it’s hard to be the one that survives”—which is exactly what the entirety of TBB has been about.
TBB: Omega puts memorabilia of her family—Tech’s goggles and Lula—into the Archium for safekeeping and remembrance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Cody and Rex have a conversation about Rex’s theory that Echo might actually be alive. Cody’s response begs him to not have “misplaced hope. I need you to be focused on this.”
TBB: Omega and Crosshair discuss their limited options as the Empire closes in on them on Pabu. “Think about the greater mission. I’m just a small part of it”.
Tumblr media
TCW: Tech brings the Havoc Marauder brought in onto the platform with the infamous Tech turn.
TBB: CX-2 has his ship brought in by remote with a menacing turn mid-air so the ramp faces them after capturing Omega.
Tumblr media
TCW: Wrecker’s (and any Batch members’) first line - “The Cavalry Has Arrived”
TBB:  - The last episode of the series will be titled this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Crosshair is introduced as being able to hit precise targets from 10 klicks away.
TBB: Crosshair misses the most important shot he could ever make.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: One of Wrecker’s first “feats” that we see him perform is rescuing Cody from a downed gunship before it explodes. Cody is then severely injured, flat on his back, and out of commission for the mission.
TBB: Wrecker risks his life and rescues Gonky before the Marauder explodes. He is unconscious and flat on his back for the rest of the episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Tech tells Jesse and Kix that “maps can be wrong. Hunter never is”.
TBB: Crosshair immediately notices when Hunter’s senses go off and asks “what is it Hunter?” “Not sure, but I don’t like it.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Rex states “We should move out before reinforcements arrive. Our position has been compromised”.
TBB: Omega tells Lyana that it’s safer if they leave, and Crosshair notes to Hunter that ships don’t blow up by themselves and therefore they’ve been compromised.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW: Tech is easily able to hack into the computer and give Rex a reading of the algorithm and pinpoint its location, in the process finding out that it is actually Echo on Skako Minor.
TBB: The episode opens with CX-2 hacking into Phee’s ship and decrypting her data logs and flight patterns to Pabu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TCW and TBB: The episodes end with ships flying off into the sunset with eerie red lighting, and the Bad Batch theme music playing is a somewhat melancholy version of their theme rather than the standard one.

Countdown to Hannah’s Birthday 2022 | 4/7 - ARC Trooper Thursday
“You got me for a bargain.”
is there an Echo in here?? 🪛 I’ve loved this guy since I first saw him in Rookies and was SO glad they brought him back to life later. I’ll never forget the reaction my sis @jam-n-ham and I had watching the og unfinished TBB arc in TCW and finding out he was alive. I think he fits in TBB really well; the chaos of the group is similar to the Dominos, so he can handle it LOL. I love his dry humor and sarcasm, and how he has a quip for pretty much any situation. also, disability rep ftw! \o/ his relationship with his nerd bro Tech is so fun to watch, and I really love the respect he and Hunter have with each other. maybe in season 2, he’ll finally get the nap he so desperately deserves 😆

PAIRS … TWINS … DOUBLE OHs
________________________________________________________________
Tumblr media
Twins? … It’s never twins! … But there's always two of us! Two of us against the rest of the world!
There is something about the number 2 in Sherlock BBC, which is impossible not to see after the course of thirteen episodes. And a lot has already been written about it by various people. ‘Two’ and several names which are also meant to express a number of ‘two’ - like double, couple, pair, twins - turn up time and again throughout the whole story.
A summary and some musings on the topic below the cut ...
Tumblr media
The two beginnings
First of all, Sherlock BBC is a story with two starting episodes, which in itself isn’t unusual. And yet, if one takes a closer look, there are some things - just minor details - that seem to be a little bit strange after all. The two points of beginning are:
THE UNAIRED PILOT - a 60 min episode called ‘A study in pink’
A STUDY IN PINK - the 90 min official first episode of S1
An extension of 30 min naturally leads to differences, as does a change in directing. The unaired PILOT was directed by Mary Rose Helen Giedroyc, Lady Bowyer-Smyth, known as Coky Giedroyc. The BBC decided not to broadcast the episode because they wished to change the length to 90 minutes. The PILOT was released on the DVD of the first series, and it proved to be slightly different from the final 90 min version, directed by Paul McGuigan.
However … there are certain changes between PILOT and ASIP which seem … odd. Most of all though, some seem quite unnecessary.
Angelo went to prison for car-jacking in PILOT ... for house-breaking in ASIP.
Sherlock can identify (by looking at the hands) a retired plumber in PILOT … an airline pilot in ASIP.  (plumber/water, pilot/air … an interesting change)
Northumberland Terrace in PILOT changes into Northumberland Street in ASIP.
The barking dog can be first heard at the end of PILOT and at the beginning of ASIP.
Sherlock and John meet at 221b for the first time on January 14th in PILOT … on January 29th in ASIP (according to John’s blog). The victim prior to the lady in pink dies on January 27th (stated on screen).
The visual appearance changes from natural, vivid colours in PILOT ... to pale and cold colours in ASIP. Especially Sherlock looks like a marble statue in some scenes.
The attraction between Sherlock and John is a much stronger one in PILOT than in ASIP. The PILOT episode isn’t called ‘gay pilot’ for nothing.
Virtually all the scenes from PILOT which have been taken over to ASIP are shot mirrored. The brilliant video Mirror Mirror Mirror by @kateis-cakeis shows this in detail.
If anyone is interested, @callie-ariane  did a wonderful script comparison of PILOT and ASIP, side by side, on a download PDF here. This comparison reveals that the biggest parts that have been changed for ASIP are:
the addition of a fifth victim
a short description of the victims
the visual introduction of Mycroft
the (very early) intoduction of Jim Moriarty compared to canon
the transfer of the showdown between Sherlock and Jeff Hope, from the Baker Street 221b living room to the Roland-Kerr Further Education College
All of these are understandable decisions. Even the different visual appearance can be easily explained by the work of another director …. though regarding Sherlock BBC, an amendment like this would largely depend on the creators themselves, I guess.
What’s really odd though are all those little, seemingly unnecessary changes listed above. What makes the difference between car-jacking and house-breaking … between terrace and street … between plumber and pilot … between January 14th and 29th? And the mirrored shooting of almost all the reused scenes. Doesn’t this need a rewriting of all the shooting scripts in question? This seems to be a load of unnecessary extra work for an extension of 30 min ..  Anyway, be it coincidence or purpose, there are a lot more ‘2s’ interwoven in this story.
Playing with contrasts happens regularly … red&blue, fire&water, burning&drowning, high above&deep down, no-one&anyone, big&small, consulting criminal&consulting detective ...
Playing with the meaning and double meaning of names and words is also quite common in Sherlock BBC … John/Hamish, sister/nun, brother/monk, beech/beach, rooster/cock, cock/penis, game/game, Underground/underground  ...
A choice between two possibilities happens several times …. good bottle or bad bottle, saint or sinner, James or John, forwards or backwards ...
Two twin-houses
Roland-Kerr Further Education College is the place where Jeff Hope takes Sherlock for his ‘good bottle-bad bottle’ game near the end of ASIP. The Cardiff Univerity main-building had been used as film-set and for this scene the building was altered and mirrored to give the appearance of two identical buildings.  (Cardiff University (x) (x) (x)
Twenty-three and twenty-four Leinster Gardens ... the empty houses ... appear in HLV. They are Sherlock’s property and Mary’s face is projected on them when Sherlock compaires her to a facade. Originally, there was only one ‘empty house’ in canon, situated opposite 221b Baker Street. Strangely, the place from which John shoots Hope in PILOT would conform to the empty house from canon.   (Empty houses  The impossible house)
Two high security facilities … with several levels below ground, are visited by Sherlock
Baskerville, the military compound where the fear inducing HOUND aerosol is created. Skulls and crossed bones are displayed on the danger signs.
Sherrinford, the special prison where Eurus, the sister turned into a ghost story, is locked up behind elephant glass. Two ‘pirates’ enter the island.
Two landladies rent a flat to a male couple
Mrs Hudson rents a flat to Sherlock and John and asks them if they will be needing two bedrooms.
Mrs Turner, next door, rents a flat to a married couple. Mrs Turner appears in ACDs story ‘Scandal in Bohemia’ as landlady of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.
Two skulls reside in the 221b livingroom. The inflexible bone skull on the mantlepiece next to the statue of the ancient Chinese bowman and the changeable blue skull painting on the wall behind the sofa next to the equally changeable yellow smiley.
Two palaces with partly similar looking interior …. Buckingham Palace and Sherlock’s mind palace  (x)
The secret code in TBB is written in ancient cyphers which always come in pairs. The numbers are references to specific pages of a book and to specific words on those pages.
Two neat plans and two rehearsals
The flight of the dead - code 007 Bond Air from ASIB & the similar project of the plane crash in Dusseldorf prior.
The attempted murder of Major Sholto - room number 207 from TSOT & the rehearsal of it involving Private Bainbridge prior.
Two '00′ (double oh) can be heard related to the ‘neat’ plans  (x)
In ASIB the number ‘double oh seven’ uttered by Mycroft, refers to the plane he intends to use for the ‘flight of the dead’.
In TSOT the number on Sholto’s door reads 207 - ‘two oh seven' - Mary calls it.
Doppelganger bodies appear conveniently and seemingly out of nowhere to cover up the fake deaths of Sherlock, Irene and Emelia.
Janus Cars … is the car hire company; assiciated with Jim Moriarty, who helpes clients to fake their death. In ancient Rome Janus was the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, and endings. He usually is depicted with two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past.
Tumblr media
And there is also the not very subtle sexual double meaning hiding in plain sight behind the name of this car hire company ... J-anus C-ars … which basically are two different names for roughly the same area. :)
Two explosions hit 221 Baker Street. The first one, in TGG, comes from the outside. The second one, in TFP, comes from the inside.
Two countdowns from 10 to 1 happen ere someone is in danger to die.
The first one happens in TGG related to the fake Vermeer painting and the kidnapped child who wears a vest full of explosives. It’s he fourth cold case Sherlock has to solve.
The second one happens in TFP when Sherlock aims a gun at himself. It’s the fourth task Eurus has set up for him in Sherrinford in which he should choose between Mycroft and John.
Two ‘falls’ from great heigth come to pass in two episodes:
In TRF Sherlock throws himself down from Bart’s roof - to save his friends - after Jim Moriarty shot himself in the head.
In TAB Sherlock throws himself down a waterfall - without being forced - and follows Jim Moriarty into the abyss, flying and smiling.
Two reddish balloons represent ‘quite the guy’ John Watson in two episodes - TEH and TST.
Two roosters/cocks appear in two episodes which also contain two serial killers with certain similarities. In ASIP the cock is linked to John Watson. In TLD the cock is linked to Culverton Smith. (x)
Felines and canines appear in two different versions. One is harmless, like cats and dogs. One is dangerous, like lion and monster hound. (x)
Two pet animals of two children are taken away by a family member. Sherlock misses his dog Redbeard. Kirsty misses her rabbit Bluebell. (x)
Redbeard and Yellowbeard are the names little Victor and little Sherlock invented for themselves when they played pirates.
Two occurrences define Sherlock’s personality - Carl Powers and Victor Trevor:
‘It’s where I began’ … that’s how Sherlock describes the Carl Powers case about a drowned boy and his missing shoes.
‘Every choice you ever made; every path you’ve ever taken – the man you are today ... is your memory of Eurus’ … that’s how Mycroft descirbes the Eurus case about a drowned boy and a missing dog.
Two serial killers appear, who deem themselves nice. They like to talk to their victims and have quite noticeable teeth. Jefferson Hope in ASIP & Culverton Smith in TLD.
Two stillborn children play a role …. Rachel Wilson, her first name turns out to be the password of the pink ladies pink phone and Mary Morstan, whose identity was stolen by the woman who later becomes John’ s wife.
AMO & AMMO ... two almost identical words for love and explosives
Codename ‘AMO’ … is used by two different characters. Legally by Lady Smallwood & illegally by Vivian Norbury.
Two times Rosamund Mary …. the same name for mother and daughter
Two times Charles
Carl Powers, from TGG, is the boy who had a fit in the water and drowned.
Charlie Welsborough, from TST, is the boy who had a fit in a car and burned.
Two times Faith … Culverton Smith’s daughter, mirror for John, is envisiond by Sherlock as two different persons. (x)
Two variations of the name James … Jim (short for James) Moriarty & John Hamish (Scotish for James) Watson.
Musgrave and Trevor …  Reginald Musgrave and Victor Trevor are original characters who appear in two canon stories (Musgrave Ritual & Gloria Scott) which are the only ones linked to Sherlock’s time at university. TFP combines those stories and connects them to a trauma Sherlock might have experienced in his childhood..
Two problematic sisters
John and Sherlock, each ot the two men has a ‘problematic’ sister. John’s sister Harry is an alcoholic and Sherlock’s sister Eurus is locked up since childhood in a high security facility because she is a dangerous genius.
Eurus is revealed on screen only by the end of the (for now) penultimate episode. Harry has still no visual appearance at all.
There is hardly any contact between the siblings during the majority of the story. They ‘don’t get on’ with each other or are completely forgotten at all.
Harry is listed as potential pressure point for John by Magnussen, while Eurus is a potential pressure point for Sherlock, used by Mycroft.
Both sisters are called by male names
Both sisters are mistaken for brothers by Sherlock as well as John, when they are first mentioned in their presence.
These are enough similarities between those mysterious sisters to  call it quite strange, I think. Mycroft’s advice for Sherlock comes to mind:
SHERLOCK: For one person to be in both groups ... could be a coincidence. MYCROFT: Oh, Sherlock. What do we say about coincidence? SHERLOCK: The universe is rarely so lazy.
As much as Harry and Eurus seem to have in common, there’s one big difference. While Eurus lives her lonely life mostly behind elephant glass, Harry had been married with Clara for some time. But three months before John and Sherlock meet, the women split up and got a divorce.
A Catherine hiding in plain sight
As @shylockgnomes pointed out in her post about the 'High incidence of Katherines’ in Sherlock BBC, the name Clara basically has the same meaning as Catherine … bright, clear, clean, pure. Clara seems to be a Catherine hiding in plain sight, one might say.
Catherine is of Greek origin and became later, in the early Christian era, associated with the Greek ‘katharos’ … meaning ‘pure’. Earlier derivations list as possible roots for Catherine the name of the goddess Hekate and the Greek name Hekaterine ... meaning ‘each of the two’.
And this is the point where especially one possible meaning behind the name Catherine ... ‘each of the two’ … becomes highly interesting for a story packed full of pairs, couples, double ohs and twins.
Each of the two - what might this mean?
Does it refer to two autonomous characters like Sherlock and John or does it refer to two different versions of one and the same character. What if we are dealing with two John’s in this story (alongside with two Sherlock’s)? Two of a kind for each of the two ... but not twins.
John Watson seems to be the character everything else circles around inside Sherlock’s mind palace. But there is a great difference between the John Watson of the PILOT and the one in ASIP. While PILOT-John seems to have not much problems to show his romantic interrest in Sherlock, the same character is much more restrained in ASIP. This attitude grows constantly over the course of the story, until it reaches an absolute low point in TLD. John claims again and again, in almost each episode, that he’s not gay. He downgrades Sherlock’s introduction of him from ‘friend’ to ‘colleague’. He tries to teach Sherlock the appropriate interaction with other people and the correct social behaviour … even when it is quite clear that Sherlock doesn’t like it. He jokes about some of Sherlock’s special characteristics with mutual friends and even tells him to ‘be not himself’ and demands that Sherlock should ‘hold himself to a higher standard’ because of the people who read the stories. And alongside those repeated verbal rebukes there’s also a constant increase of physical violence.
For more than a century the friendship and love between Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson is known to be among the most famous in literature. It hardly ever happens that the one appears without the other. Not one of the many adaptations I ever watched, depicts the ‘good doctor’ as someone who behaves like John Watson in Sherlock BBC. This John Watson becomes more and more out of character as the story runs along. Sometimes it’s almost as if this man isn’t THE John Watson at all.
‘When you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains must be the truth’ … that’s a main principle of Sherlock Holmes. If this John Watson is so very much OOC, perhaps this is so, because he isn’t THE John Watson?
Viewing all the characters on Sherlock’s mind stage as aspects, as certain opinions he has on various matters, and not as autonomous real-life people, it could be entirely possible that Sherlock tries to analyze his attitude towards a romantic/sexual relationship by creating different ‘editions’ of John Watson. The special attempt of a genius brain to fathom out his own feelings, desires and fears. If so, are there any indications in this story that more than one John Watson is present?
Two times John?
As mentioned in this post, there exists a scene in PILOT in which John appears twice in one single shot. It happens during the taxi ride to the crime scene of the pink lady, when Sherlock explains his first deductions about John to John. In one of the flashbacks John can be seen entering the lab while he is already inside, offering Sherlock his phone.
Tumblr media
Recently I discovered that a similar shot exists in ASIP as well. It’s also in one of the flashbacks during the taxi ride to the crime scene of the pink lady, when Sherlock explains his first deductions about John to John. ‘Wounded in action, suntan – Afghanistan or Iraq’ … that’s the exact point when it happens. This time though the appearance of the ‘second John’ is rather colourful. One might even say … rainbowy. :)
Tumblr media
Hope and Faith
The Lying Detecive is the (for now) penultimate episode of the story and very closely connected to A Study in Pink. Each of the two episodes is about a serial killer who deems himself 'verging on nice’, loves to talk to his victims and displays quite noticeable teeth.
Jeff Hope from ASIP has two bottles to offer, good pills and bad pills full of ‘chemistry’, from which Sherlock is expected to choose one.
Culverton Smith from TLD has a daughter called Faith. With her bad leg and the cane, she’s very obviously a mirror for John. The included flashback to John limping away from the pink lady’s crime scene and also the scene in which Faith’s gun gets thrown into the Thames (like John’s in PILOT), underpins the mirroring even more. Faith is displayed as two similar looking but entirely different persons.
As it turns out later, one of the two Faith’s is actually Eurus, Sherlock’s 'other one’, his sister who gets mistaken for a brother (like John’s sister Harry). Eurus represents Sherlock’s emotional side … especially with regards to his feelings for John … hence Faith’s display as John’s mirror with cane and limp.
Tumblr media
TBB and the theory of two John’s
The Blind Banker has proven again and again that this episode is the user manual for Sherlock BBC. If there are indeed two different John’s - respectively Sherlock’s - put into this story, TBB should confirm this theory. Are there two John’s/Sherlock’s included in TBB? Yes, surprisinly, there are.
In this episode John as well as Sherlock are presented as double mirrors. Due to several random and minor incidents, General Shan mistakes John for Sherlock.
Debit card, name of S. Holmes.
A cheque for five thousand pounds made out in the name of Mr. Sherlock Holmes.
Tickets from the theatre, collected by you, name of Holmes.
We heard it from your own mouth. “I am Sherlock Holmes and I always work alone …”
And so, in General Shan’s view, John becomes Sherlock and Sarah - the ‘pretty doctor companion’ - turns into John. Basically, in every scene in which those three characters interact with each other, there are indeed two John’s and two Sherlock’s present ‘on stage’. It seems the theory that both main characters are represented in two slightly different versions is not that farfetched after all.
Tumblr media
That’s not the John Watson I know
There’s this short dialogue from ASIP, the first official episode of Sherlock BBC, (it doesn’t show up in PILOT) ... could it be another piece of evidence that there’s more than one John Watson in this story. Is this a classical case of ‘we told you, but did you listen’?
Tumblr media
Two Johns? Two differnt aspects represented by the same character? One positive, one negative? Like Jeff Hope’s good and bad bottles? And also two Sherlock’s?
The concept of an inflexible, unchangeable relationship between ‘eternal’ just-friends, the same as it has been for over a century. A version that will slowly kill Sherlock internally until he ends in the solitude of the Sussex Downs all alone with his bees? Again ...
And the other concept …  a finally changed 'new’ friend, a different John, who falls in love with Sherlock Holmes at first sight and never leaves him again? And a Sherlock Holmes who gives in to the softer emotions and his neglected ‘transport’. A man who finally drops his facade to accept love, romance and sex in his life?
The detective and his doctor who, at long last, leave their crime scene and have dinner with each other (fulfill their desire) at a lovely Chinese (emotional) restaurant. :)))

TFP and Dream Symbols
While writing my two freudian metas I stumbled upon the symbolism of dreams and turns out it was a rabbit hole with no return, so I decided to write an exclusive meta on TFP. In this post I will make a reference to many scenes from this episode and then write their symbolism/how they can be interpreted. I operated under the assumption that this is John’s dying dream, as @waitedforgarridebs has said in this meta and @jenna221b here. And truly, it seems like this reading is not only supported but also encouraged.
The good news is that the clown scene, Dangledebs, the skull and all that ridiculousness can be explained very accurately. The bad news is that this reading is painful. But there’s no need to worry, because this ends on a good note, as does the episode. Diving into details under the cut.
Tumblr media
TFP opens with the scene of a girl on a plane. Seeing yourself in the role of a little girl in a dream, as if you were having a childhood memory or simply experiencing the life in the shoes of a little girl is often not a very positive sign. You could soon experience disagreements, disharmony or conflictive tension with others.  Furthermore, you want someone else to protect and care for you. John is scared, so it’s only natural that he would feel like that.
GIRL’s VOICE: Are-are you still there? SHERLOCK: Yes, hello? (She doesn’t respond immediately.) SHERLOCK: Hello. We’re still here. Can you hear us? (x)
The girl is talking on the phone. Problems using the telephone or getting the phone to work right represent issues in communication with the person you were trying to talk to on the phone. Sherlock and John’s micommunication has been a theme ever since the first series. ‘’Answer your phone I’ve been calling you’’ (TBB).
Tumblr media
The plane is falling; As with most common dream themes, falling is an indiction of insecurities, instabilities and anxieties. You are feeling overwhelmed and out of control in some situation in your waking life. John has obviously had enough with everything that has been happening to him. He doesn’t have control over his life. That’s why he is not the one navigating the plane, he is just a helpless child on the passenger’s seat, not knowing what to do about the inevitable crash. To throw some Freud into the mix, dreams of falling indicate that you are contemplating giving in to a sexual urge or impulse. According to him, most dreams are centred around sexual oppression that is suppressed by society morals. In this case, the oppression could come in the form of heteronormativity and homophobic parents.
Dreaming of an airplane crashing may be a metaphor for some aspect of your life that is in danger of ending quickly and unexpectedly. This really supports the garridebs scenario. John was not expecting this, but he is facing his own death. The crashing airplane represents your self-defeating attitude and self-doubt. Flying down toward the ground may mean that you are attempting to be more in tune with your unconscious mind. FTR, the unconscious is where our repressed sexual urges exist.‘‘Flying in a vehicle or airplane means there is some bad news coming soon. You may be ignoring this and continuing on as if everything is normal John. This is a message to push you into seeing the truth in your life.’‘
Another interesting interpretation is that seeing yourself as a little kid could represent your desire to be engaged in sexual behaviors that you may have never performed before. Okay then.
Tumblr media
Moving on to the real cringe-worthy moments of the episode. Seems like the clown could be your reward that your mind is giving you for just having had to go through something awful. The clown is trying to raise your spirits and let you know that everything is going to be alright. This is what clowns are meant to do, make you happy. Alternatively, the clown could be trying to help you get through a tough time in a different way, by trying to teach you to laugh things off. BIG YIKES, FOLKS. John is dying and trying to make light of the situation in order to comfort himself, as he lies alone. Anyway. We find out that John was shot by ‘’a tranquilizer’’.This means you may be avoiding some issue in your real life like the fact that you are dying, or you may feel that you are being deceived or lied to in some way. Which has happened to John loads of times.
Tumblr media
Mycroft comes to 221B and we hear the fake story and the fire incident. To see something burning in your dream indicates that you are experiencing some intense emotions and/or passionate sexual feelings. There is some situation or issue that you can no longer avoid and ignore. To dream that a house is on fire indicates that you need to undergo some transformation.
Now, the drone. The drone symbolizes the loss of possibilities or having your privacy invaded. The grenade means one has been badly surprised by something. Did Mary shoot John? Did he have an accident after learning something surprising?
Tumblr media
Bombs appearing in a dream usually indicate some form of explosive situation with which we need to deal, like repressed emotions or an impending disaster. Or both, in John’s case. Of course there’s also the reading of explosion as a sexual climax.‘’ A forceful explosion of sexual release can accomplish a cleansing. A dream may be a safe space in which to accomplish this, the emotion having been suppressed for some time.’’
Cut to Sherlock and John on the boat. Dreams about pirates suggest that some person or situation is bringing chaos to your emotional life, since water=emotions. It could also refer to justifiable trust issues in a relationship. This really is a good description of their relationship.
Tumblr media
We finally reach the place John’s sexuality is kept in. Remote islands symbolize something that has come from the depths of your unconscious, but is now established in everyday life. More evidence then for what Eurus represents. Also they symbolize feelings of isolation or loneliness, or your attempt to cut yourself off from others due to your feelings about them. John has been feeling lonely. And he almost did cut himself off Sherlock (or was thinking to do so, if we take TLD as John’s distorted POV and not reality).
Tumblr media
Sherrinford is like a mental institution but Eurus is kept in a cell. Mycroft describes the place as a fortress. Nevertheless, if one sees himself in a mental institution, it means that he might go to jail for a crime he committed. Did John kill Mary? Was he framed? It also suggests that you are feeling tremendous mental strain and are trying to reach out for help. John is reaching out. He even left a note to Sherlock. He sent him texts but Sherlock deleted them.
Eurus is ‘’imprisoned’’. A prison represents the feeling of being trapped in daily life. When one is stuck in one particular prison cell, this is representative of feeling completely chained to the decisions you’ve made in life. John is leading a life which is the opposite of what he wants. He has succumbed to a heteronormative lifestyle, marrying an emotionally abusive woman who is even gaslighting him to believe that it’s his fault that he has ended up where he is.
Tumblr media
There’s a rifle on the wall (chekhov’s gun). As we know, from a Freudian perspective, a gun represents the penis and male sexual drive. The colour red (on the walls) is considered to denote anger, but also danger, violence, blood, shame, rejection, sexual impulses and urges.
Tumblr media
This is another ridiculous scene which is actually painful. Unfortunately, to dream of seeing a hanging with a noose represents feelings about someone else being noticed as a total failure. Feelings about not mattering anyone or being insignificant. ‘’Who you really are, it doesn’t matter.’’ Feeling that you have no options left in a difficult situation. Fearing embarrassment that you never really mattered. A very insensitive display of failure. John feels unimportant. With the garridebs allusion, we could imagine that he considers his feelings for Sherlock a failure; he never acted upon them or expressed them, they just made him feel awful time and again.
Hangings with nooses may also show up in dreams if you have been having suicidal thoughts. You may have some powerful insecurities at the moment may not believe in yourself enough. The garridebs reference is becoming very ominous here. There are many hints pointing towards such a bleak scenario for John, as @hawksmoor17 has demonstrated here, @teaandqueerbaiting in this post and @toxicsemicolon in this meta.
JIM’s VOICE: Come on now! Aaaaaall aboard! (High-pitched) Choo-choo! Choo-choo!
JIM’s VOICE (softly, from the speakers): Mind the gap.
To see a train in your dream represents conformity. In our case it could be complying with heteronormativity. You are just going along with what everyone else is doing. Hearing a train in your dream means that something is passing you by. You have missed or lost an opportunity.‘Trust me Sherlock, it’s gone before you know it.’’ The train driver in the dream wants to control not only his life but the lives of everyone else as well. He wants to be the boss – the one who drives things forward. Moriarty is the one who supposedly drives the train. So in John’s mind he is the one that is bossing people around, controlling his and Sherlock’s life.
Tumblr media
Coffins in dreams represent the need to get rid of unhealthy habits or relationships. Unhealthy habits could be in this case miscommunication and repression. They also represent locked issues. The coffin is symbolic of a person dying physically, mentally, and emotionally. John is dying physically, but he is also dying emotionally because he is suppressing his feelings until what seems like the end. The countdown symbolizes anxiety of having some sort of deadline. In this case, it could be John’s imminent death.
Tumblr media
The grey colour on the wall is very prominent in this episode. It indicates fear, fright, depression and ill health. You may feel emotionally distant, isolated, or detached. John is ticking all the boxes.
Tumblr media
Seeing a well in your dream alludes to depression. It also could mean a fight in one’s family involving jealousy, envy and betrayal. John’s marriage. Falling into a well in a dream also means being accused of an alleged crime from which one is clearly innocent. Another indicator that TST is John’s alibi and he has been framed for Mary’s death? We know that as far as TST is concerned ‘’that’s not what happened at all’’.
Because of the water, drowning depicts fear of being overwhelmed by difficult emotions or anxieties. This might apply to natural urges such as loving or sex, that some people have enormous conflicts about. You feel like you are struggling to ‘keep your head above water’. It’s no news that John feels completely overwhelmed by his feelings for Sherlock.
Tumblr media
A skull represents a serious loss/fearing a loss. It may also reflect a fear of death. John is afraid of dying. Alternatively, you may have something you are hiding that you are afraid to reveal to others. Something from your past that you want to keep hidden. -Oh and I almost forgot, dreaming of a skull is a sign of your need for repentance. John is regretful of his missed opportunity with Sherlock........[sigh] moving on.
Tumblr media
Sherlock comes to John’s aid with a lantern, which is the omen of illumination, enlightenment, and positive light. So we could say that Sherlock is John’s conductor of light as well. Nice!
Tumblr media
Near the end of the episode (and imagining John’s predicament is worsening) we have something akin to an unnecessary filler violin concert. Violin represents contentment, happiness, especially in domestic situations. It could also represent sadness or comforting one’s sorrow. In this situation, John is comforting himself by thinking of Sherlock playing the violin and them being together in 221B. Tthe only plausible scenario in his mind is them staying friends. He does not dare to imagine anything else even now.
Lastly, something to lighten up the mood a bit (don’t worry there’s no parentlock on my blog):
Tumblr media
Dreaming of holding a baby more precisely of the female gender, could perhaps speak of upcoming changes. In particular, someone of your close relations, such as a partner or a good friend would be the one responsible for those positive transformations in your life. Another sign that Sherlock will confess his love, which will bring about the positive change of them becoming finally a couple <3 In your own time Mofftiss, but quite quickly.
I am in the process of writing two other metas so if you are interested in being tagged let me know, I don’t want to annoy you. For now, tagging people who might be interested: @obsessivelollipoplalala @green-violin-bow @tjlcisthenewsexy @whimsicalethnographies @devoursjohnlock @gosherlocked @inevitably-johnlocked @antisocial-otaku @worriesconstantly @may-shepard @teapotsubtext @jenna221b @sarahthecoat @dickeddowndetective @shamelessmash @impossibleleaf @darlingtonsubstitution @kimbiablue @loveismyrevolution @marcespot @just-sort-of-happened

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 5✨
Are we really only 2 days away from the season 2 finale????!!??!??!??!
Tumblr media
Day 5: TBB series introduced us to a new sassy little sister (Ahsoka forever the OG). What are some of your favorite Omega moments??
Listen, not gonna lie, I realllllllly didn't like Omega at first. It took a looonnnngg way into Season 1 before I got onboard with her, and it wasn't until Season 2 that I really embraced her.
So then I went back and rewatched Season 1 with her in a new light, and I now see her for the precious smol bean she is and her development in Season 2 is so freaking cute. Babes is going through a lot of big feelings and a lot of rose-colored-glasses off moments and taking it in stride
So a couple fave moments of mine:
"Cut and Run" when she's just so freaking excited about dirt???? Like, been surrounded by walls and water her whole life and walks off the ship onto a planet covered in literal jungle and she notices the dirt??!?!? Literally adorable
"Rampage" using the comm to tell them they were talking to Cid this whole time. Freaking innocent sassy babay
"Battle Scars" THE ENTIRE INTERACTION WITH REX. OMEGA, BABES, HE SURVIVED LEADING THE 501ST, LET HIM HAVE SOME WRINKLES
Any interaction with Crosshair. She loves him without even knowing him but doesn't take his shit and calls him out on it. Legend
All of "Faster". She is a child running a pit crew in space Mario Kart. 100/10
"The Crossing" One of my fave Omega episodes. She's struggling with a "loss" and doesn't know how to express it and she's setting boundaries and I loved the emotional development we saw with her. And then obvs the cave scene <3<3<3

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 4✨
So stoked for the finale episodes on Wednesday I can't wait so to harness my excited/anxious energy I'm posting and answer a TBB/Star Wars related question each day - would love if other people joined in/interacted!!! (positive interactions only! no bashing, only loving!)
Day 4: How were you introduced to TBB??
I had like a two-part introduction to TBB because the The Clone Wars S7E1 arc was the first time I'd watched TCW, and I was at my brother's place hanging out SO confused about this show I was watching. So didn't think much of it.
Cut to a month later when I finished binging all of TCW (surprise surprise, I was HOOKED) and got to S7 again. Then those 4 walked off the ship and I was SMACKED with deja vu because that was the scene that played at my brother's place and it all came back to me. It literally took just Hunter finishing their introductions for me to go "ah yes, my newest collection of brain healers. I'm gonna keep these ones"

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 3✨
Day 3: we had to know this was coming right? What's your favorite TBB episode (TBB series!)
This question could make me lay on the ground thinking for days. "Tay, The Outpost right?" and I see you babes, and it is such a close second but ooooooooo I'm going with Battle Scars, S1E7. Listen, LISTEN, the effect of seeing Rex in his measly disguise at 8am sent me into another galaxy. Let alone, the Batch seeing how impossible it was to see the chips' effects first hand was SO IMPORTANT to me with Crosshair's arc. It is one of my comfort episodes, and yes, I will replay the scene of Rex in his armor walking to the Batch on Bracca on repeat for eternity

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 6✨
IT'S TOMORROW IT'S TOMORROW IT'S TOMORROW
Tumblr media
Day 6: SHARE YOUR FAVORITE TBB HEADCANONS!!! Let the siliness/feels/absurdity fly. What about our favorite brothers and sister lives rent free in your mind now??
Tech is an absolute freaking nightmare to play boardgames with
Hunter is second to him and they both get so intense that Crosshair banned board game night starting when they were cadets
While they were on Kamino, Hunter was always down to pull off any prank, even after being named "sergeant" and Crosshair is the de facto prank mastermind
When he's feeling especially snarky, Crosshair likes to rile Tech up by arguing against scientifically backed explanations even though he doesn't believe them. It's just too amusing to see how red Tech can turn as Crosshair keeps dismissing scientific evidence
Wrecker is a stargazer
Crosshair likes to join Wrecker's stargazing when they're on first watch together
Wrecker has the highest emotional intelligence of all the batch
The amount of mess hall fights the Batch participated in escalated after Echo joined them
All 4 were shocked when they watched for the first time their stoic ARC instigate a fight with a reg simply for looking at the Batch the wrong way
They then spent the rest of the day hearing Echo talk about this reg, Fives, and Wrecker was so bummed he'd never get to meet him
Echo got an aurebesh five tattooed on his inner bicep after he returned from Skako Minor and found out what happened
Omega taught Wrecker about meditation after Gungi taught her, and now they meditate together
Crosshair is closest with Tech and Hunter. Hunter is closest with Crosshair (which is why they butt heads so much). Wrecker is closest with Tech and Omega. Omega is closest with Wrecker and Echo. Echo is closest with Tech
They all view Rex as their dad
If Tech is walking around with his nose in his datapad, a Batcher will always be following closely behind after they watched him walk into walls one too many times

✨TBB Finale Countdown Day 2✨
If you could have any of the batch's enhanced skills, which would it be?
Do you know how easy life would be if I had Wrecker's strength? Moving company? Don't need em, just gonna carry the sofa on my shoulder. Dog's ball rolled under the table? Let me just lift for ya real quick. Creepy guy won't take a hint? He will now with a broken leg. A+ life
