for simplicity ill break it into three segments: what happened before to set up this chain of events, how and why papyrus does it, and bare bones evidence

1 before deltarune

generally this is working off my "gaster is bad at math theory" which, to summarize, basically says gaster started as a scientist in deltarune with 2 kids (sans and paps) accidentily fucks up the math and teleports to undertale, uses deltarunes superior tech to create the core, fucks up the math and falls in, frisk/player pulls up, after a bit sans and paps dip but gaster fucks up the math postmortem and they get stuck in deltarune resulting in papyrus becoming a hermit who accidentally opens a darkworld in his closet and then does the fucking grinch smile and causes a ruckus

2 why tho

how papyrus does it: something something prophecy, destiny, gaster fuckery, what have you. effectively via the same plot convenient saving grace that allows us to close the darkworlds and control kris

why does he do it: same reason he spares frisk in geno. he sees that characters like kris, berdly, susie and noelle and knows that they can do better, they just need to try. and what better reason to try than life threatening adventure? (sidenote: i fucking despise when people make the excuse of "Oh HeS bEiNg ~MaNiPuLaTeD~ bY ______" like no shut up let papyrus be morally ambiguous dammit) he is also likely aware of the titan situation and is just deadass like "NO I CAN TAKE THEM IN A 1V1 I THINK" also it makes sense narratively due to his incomplete character arc

the closet the chapter 2 darkworld was likely started from can fit and i quote "a large person" (especially combined with the skeletons in my closet line in undertale), he has been set up by sans to have a late game appearance, no alibis in chapter 1 or 2, in chapter 2 the "trousling bones" mentioned when interacting with the door of sans' house grows distant as another darkworld closes, as mentioned in section 2 his arc is still incomplete and as mentioned in my papyrus backstory post we dont even have a clue as to half the shit he's hiding, as a more meta reason bonetrousle was originally the main theme of deltarune, the "secret name" line from papyrus qna 2, the jevil reference dialogue in papyrus qna 2, and probably the most solid motive out of the candidates. that being the fact he believes so much in that people can do good if they try, to exercise that from a more cynical perspective of these beliefs (i.e people wont try unless they have to) could look like forcing them by way of obscure supernatural prophecy and lifechanging perilous adventure

My villain origin story is that there’s legitimate issues with the teen wolf’s movie’s writing (apart from a race issue by the movie revolving around Japanese lore and no Japanese character) yet everyone shuts it down by saying “you are just a stiles fanboy shut up” (which btw i think someone purposely misgendered me???? But idc) or “the writing of the show was never top tier anyways” bc like

1) idc for dylan that much tbh???? Of course i wanted stiles but the movie could have been fine without him. He is however still a core character. They fucked up all his dynamics and it felt more like a punishment to his character for dylan not coming back rather than good writing. Because why did scott, his brother, the MAIN relationship of this show, never even addressed him????? Why are we expected to believe he let lydia go even tho she still loves him?????? How does he not know derek and his child when his dad still lives there, he just never visits his dad????? Thats fucking ridiculous ???? They could have just said lydia told him to focus on work and not come back in order to avoid getting his possessed again and not relive his biggest trauma. And that would have been good enough??? And have eli know him because is such bs that stiles doesn’t visit his father???? And have scott simply saying “i just talked to stiles on the phone. Told him we were good. Didn’t want to worry him” like BARE MIN THEY DIDNT NEED DYLAN THERE. But fucking up ALL his dynamics and relationships when he is a core character in order also kinda fucks up all the other characters and is BS???

2) the og show was never top tier writing, but if the potential was always at a 50% then the movie has to have that or more. Not less. And it gave less. It was a mess so obviously ppl will have critics of it regardless of Dylan’s character being there or not.

3) character wise no one benefitted from this movie except scott and allison, and not even because scott WHO IS THE MAIN CHARACTER barely touched on any other dynamic that wasn’t allison. Which is ridiculous.

4) whole thing is on Japanese lore on a character that ON THE SHOW comes from a concentration camp and created by kira’s mom, yet kira is never mentioned, and there’s absolutely no Japanese character or kitsune being relevant to the story. Which is bs??? Like Liam’s gf is there for 2 seconds and not relevant whatsoever.

5) which brings me to, liam and mason??? Why are they there??? Both of them and liam’s gf are literally so irrelevant???? They are just there to say they brought them back????????? Which is a shame bc so much could have been done???????

6) malia is literally stuck in life and that wasn’t even a plot????? She wears the exact same outfits from high school and in a relationship with a grown man who has known her since she was a minor and he wasn’t (side eye) and her character never goes through any sort of arc to realize she wants more???????????? Her character was already done dirty in s6 and this even more????? Girl came to the world in s3 after being stuck as an animal and never grew out of HS and thats!??? Never addressed??????

7) derek’s arc was shit??? All he did pass down his family trauma (seeing them burn) to his son. And why is eli’s happy ending that he got adopted by scott and allison??? WHERE IS HIS MOTHER??? HIS AUNT CORA????? Allison just came back to the world she should barely get in a relationship when mentally she doesn’t know life outside of HER JUNIOR YEAR OF HS. LET ALONE BE MOTHER TO A HIGH SCHOOLER????!!!?????

I could literally keep going????? It feels like character wise this movie was a set back and a fuck up of all characters and all dynamics rather than something to push the story forward. So yes. It was AWFUL writing. Regardless if Dylan was there or not. They could have done amazing without dylan still but they didn’t. They focused more only of the allison x scott ship and punishing dylan by fucking up his character.

All that said the acting (of most) is still really good!! So it makes sense some people enjoyed it. There’s angst, fave nostalgic characters coming back, and good chemistry/acting between them. But for people (like me) that wanted something for the characters it wasn’t good. Its stupid to try shutting down valid criticism by saying “you are just a dylan fanboy” because that also implies ignoring the whole issue with kira and racism too.

Reminds me of a post i saw here saying “the teen wolf fandom kinda deserved better but they have also always been super racist so maybe they don’t” the day the movie came out and shdjjdjd sad bc i want better but is kinda true😭 y’all either completely ignoring the real life issue with arden and the show taking japan culture while simultaneously fucking up their asian characters to benefit the white ones, or completely ignore the real issues with writing and say “fuck scott” to put stiles in a pedestal when in reality lil brown scott is as essential to the franchise as stiles. BOTH are the core of the show. And you can keep the core without the actor by at least addressing him, not trying to push him out like the movie intended. Aaaah i have so much shit to say and complain about but whatever. Shit is not canon to me either ways. Just gonna hope for better for wolf pack bc it looks promising. Altho kinda hesitating about wanting to give jeff davis my coins tbh.

Do you agree that Jason, as written by Winnick in UTRH and Lost Days, acts out of character post-resurrection if we take into account his post-crisis robin days? If yes, how would you have him act/react to stuff after he comes back from the dead?

tldr: i definitely agree. moreover, classism plays a huge role in it, and i don’t think that at this point the storyline could lose these implications, which makes trying to conceive what an “in character” (for robin jay) version of these events would be quite difficult. 

let’s just start from saying that i don't think it's a secret that i don't really like winick in general. despite his work being mad interesting on a conceptual level (and style-wise, genuinely well written!), he has no love for the characters he writes about. 

imo utrh shouldn't even ever make it into the mainstream batman timeline. i am aware that this is a radical opinion, but my take is that it would do best as an elseworld story (and in this version too it would need some tweaks here and there), because it made damage both to the mythos of batman and jason's legacy that can never be undone. the very premise of the story is so deeply disconnected from jay's original place in the narrative, and so classist at its roots, that there's not much room to truly fix it. 

(i want to say, preemptively, that i am aware that there are people who read utrh as a story of a revolutionary and a victim – and they have the right to do so, but ngl, my view has always been that it was never written as that. utrh reinforces so many stereotypes that it overshadows the revenge tragedy spirit of it all.) 

another disclaimer is that, to be honest, jay doesn't have a very consistent characterization even in his 80s run, and it also has some classist implications that ideally should be either erased or addressed in the text (that winick instead exaggerated and put at the very front of his storytelling.) starlin's writing is, at the end of the day and very much ironically, more sympathetic and gentler in evaluating jay (simply because at the time he would not get away with changes too blatant) but details such as jay saying that "all life is game" and his random nonchalant behaviour that has its origin in the very beginning of starlin’s run are already signs of it. some readers will trace jason's arrogance prevalent in his red hood era to these issues and say that his actions post-res are therefore a logical extension of his robin days, but i don't buy it. even if you want to lean into starlin-esque characterisation, if you consider the core problem of the garzonas plotline – which is power, jay shouldn’t look into the solution of anything in climbing to the top. and if he did, it would have to be written as a “becoming what you feared/hated most” kind of story, which i can see a certain appeal in (and which would at least acknowledge that it was not his initial personality), but which would go back to its classist assumption of cycles of violence and doomed fates.

so – how to make his post-res era more accurate to his post-crisis robin days (and least classist in the process)?

if we were to follow my fav iterations of his characterisation (barr’s detective comics and the ntt appearances) tbh I don’t think a lot would happen, because his personality is quite mild, and just so hopeful there that i wouldn’t expect any extreme actions from him – but then again, the circumstances that he finds himself in post-res, the trauma, and his sensitivity do warrant grief that should become a driving force in his life from now on. the question is, what to do with this grief as a plot device?

i know that plenty of jason fans hate this take but I actually think the concept of jason trying to be detached and cruel but being bad at it might be one of the least offensive to his 80s characterisation. it’s def not accurate to pre-52 canon (apart from countdown perhaps) but imo for jay to be authentic and nuanced he should be conflicted about his own actions. his overconfident behaviour should be a pose – just as his frantic acts in his origin story as robin were. (again, something that many readers don't take notice of – but reading the rest of collins' writing wherein jay quickly settles into being easy-going and even a bit shy is proof of it.)

these two points lead to the “no good deed” narrative that I often talk about - the reading that jason saw his intuitive and self-sacrificial kind tendencies as something that brought him pain and that never was quite efficient, and that post-res he intentionally tried training himself out of. there are some flashes of it here and there throughout the years of the red hood publishing history, but it never got a true spotlight. and if i were to write lost days, jason flinching at his own violence would be a focal point of the story. 

moving on to utrh; i have spoken about it at length before but I think if he were written 1. with more political sensitivity 2. to have retained the same maturity re: the social order 3. to have the same idea of morality, he should have followed more of actual revolutionary tracks and the whole “drug lord” authoritarian figure schtick along with the idiotic idea of “controlling crime” would have to be thrown out of the window. 

and, later on, forgiveness should play a big role in his story. he's so quick to forgive and justify everyone in his robin run – this is also why i reckon his team up with harvey in tfz was a wasted opportunity.

so, in conclusion – perhaps not that much would have to change re: his actions but definitely a lot should change regarding his emotional journey and his position. i would def throw out a lot of mindless violence and power posturing out of it though. and perhaps make him a bit more polite just for the sake of more consistency (this is not me taking a moral stance btw nor tone policing a fictional character. i just think it would be more faithful to his 80s writing unless you want to make him explicitly scared. and it would be funnier tbh.)

honestly in terms of the treadmill i assumed that it was wrecked beyond repair (it's not like they can get MORE 31st century tech to replace certain parts) and that when Baby showed up at the north pole they just brought it with them so they could dispose of it themselves later because Bart was like "there is NO WAY we're leaving this here". like let's be real. Bart's original time machine was never even brought up again after Bloodlines. for my sanity i'm assuming this is a similar case lol

i guess i associate seeing wreckage as something visibly being beyond repair (like the legions sphere) so when the cosmic treadmill was in essence spat out by bioship (lol) even though it glitched i didn’t think it looked bad as it was in one piece. But I think ur point is reasonable and good to consider to pace my expectations (and like u mentioned sanity 🥲)

the biggest reason i was thinking it’s something to consider for hypothetical (oh this hurts 😂) future plots is because of what it is, i.e the cosmic treadmill, something that’s quite a major thing to speedster lore, like what the fortress of solitude or phantom zone is to superman lore or what the utility belt as equipment etc is it to batman, lasso of truth, bracelets to wonder woman etc

basically something so iconic to the related lore that it’s crazy (painful 💀) for me to perceive it as a one time thing.

also, the thing that separates it from something like the time sphere or his original time machine being irreparable is that it’s something bart built in the present, not his original timeline of 40 years in the future of an alien post apocalyptic earth (assuming that the time/alien element gave him more sophisticated components to work with despite it being the apocalypse) nor something that is built from a thousand years in the future. he built it in the now (with the assumed help of current day tech (total side note, i assumed that the stolen zeta core he stole from the Watchtower inventory was for building the treadmill/a spare component)), knows exactly what’s going on with it and can work with tech of the present for it. His OG time machine was explicitly built as a one time thing, because as sophisticated as its base technology might be, it was also a little scrappy in design, assuming that he really worked with what was available to his immediate surrounding (like scraps of metal), so it was only natural it would essentially be “fried” by something like time travel.

for the treadmill it seemed to be built as something pretty durable for its intended long term use like space travel.

i’d just assume that the components of the 31st century especially from something like the time sphere that he managed to salvage from are a little more durable than his OG machine (the parts that he managed to save from being intentionally damaged by Lor). Combining that with it being built in the present, it really didn’t cross my mind that it was something beyond repair or even remotely properly damaged in the first place.

when he was the first to leave the Arctic i felt like it was such an emergency (fighting the zods) that he didn’t really think twice about anything. then the rest of the heroes were split between Dick and Mganns team (with LOSH) also hurrying, and those who were tending to the wounded. I didn’t really think about this part any further tbh but I’d assume that the medical team portion would collect it or something. But just the image of bioship spitting it out it’s like she wouldn’t want it anywhere near her 😭 lmfao. So team LOSH and co maybe managed to “quickly” take it with them (also considering LOSH knowing what it is) but the urgency of the situation just had me thinking initially it was abandoned at the pole at the time 😭

also something that is only the result of me entirely overthinking things is the way the treadmill was designed in YJ. The fact that it’s compatible with bioship/baby makes me think that if YJ wants to do serious time traveling throughout the season in the future, rather than in S2/4 where it’s more of a plot device than a used tool (atleast for the heroes, Lor was the one who used it the most in S4), i can imagine the treadmill being somehow used for it. Like originally it was built for space travel, but this is time traveler bart we r talking about here lol i don’t think it would be impossible for it to be redesigned for its original comic purpose. Also more importantly, it allows big teams of people to travel with it, rather than just bart running on it.

So yeah, this is all the mess of thoughts that makes it appeal to me as an ideal checkhovs gun for future seasons, but honestly with all things YJ who genuinely knows at this point 😭

Yknow what. I’m not done complaining about dc. I started bitching in the tags of my prev post & i have more feelings. I get a stack of dc every month & we’ll take the vertigo (i refuse to call it anything else if only cause it’s shorter) stuff out i still have like 6 titles a month. That is if dc decides they’ll actually put out a jsa issue that month. The ones I’m most excited to read rn? Flash, Birds of Prey, & Green Arrow. Why? Cause the characters feel like the characters i fell in love with & the story is actually compelling. Yes, green arrow is suffering hard from the crossover shoehorning but the whole physically cannot occupy the same time and space as the people you love is a legit issue for Ollie & fascinating gotcha from Merlyn. Like, it’s novel! And I’m curious to see how it shakes out. The weird string theory/comic book physics around the speed force that spurrier is doing in flash is honestly REALLY cool. I’ll be the first to say i couldn’t care less about the speed force. It works cause it’s plot the only reason the flashes study it is cause they’re a bunch of adhd scientists who can’t help themselves & the writers feel the need to put their stamp on it. The whole weird dimensions & alien beings & time cops is super strange but hella compelling & the way it’s affecting the characters & eroding their relationships which are so core to flash characters is really amazing I love how much it hurts. Truly i cannot wait to see how exactly this shakes out. Know what I don’t care for? Whatever the fuck Amanda Waller is doing. I, who normally hates “let’s study the speed force!” stories wishes we could get back to studying the speed force cause the whole ham fisted analogy crossover thing is so boring & not even original. I think dc has done this exact plot at least twice before. In main continuity. It pops up every couple years anymore & it will never be what the 80s x-men were & they need to just stop trying. And bop! I love bop right now! I could wax poetic about the art styles cause they’re stunning & SO expressive. In a post where I’m bitching about stories I’ll just leave it there. The story itself? Pretty interesting, if standard bop stuff at first. Gotta put a ragtag team of gals together to do something low key shady cause it’s the right thing. The team is a nice mix; tho I’m not sorry to see Harley go, she’s another character that I understand sells comics but I am so sick of seeing it is not even funny. It’s not even that I dislike her as a character I’m just over her being in every single comic. And the dimension hopping weird babs rescue mission? I’m in! Where we going next? What even is the reason? Sure, we just rescued sin in a very similar plot structure but idc! The writing is fun! The dialogue is fun! The page of Cass’s reactions to vixen’s lingerie options is BRILLIANT! Love the lineup! It’s nailing what I think jsa is attempting but in a more fun & lighthearted tone. Tbh I’m not sure cause I’m still not sure what’s going on in jsa since they seem to publish it at will every like 3-5 months so I have no real clue what’s going on in that one. And I’ve been reading it for like 2 years now. I’m so tired of Nightwing & titans. I, a titans girlie, find it so boring. They’re both boring! From go they’ve been extensions of each other which is frustrating. Some moments in each I really enjoy! But overall? I still don’t see where Nightwing is going & tbh it feels like dick has spent this whole time doing nothing. Despite the fact that we were told he did so much he got a key to the city! He did adopt a dog. That’s like the most memorable & only real thing that he achieved. Cause the foundation? He’s a bat. They all do that. And titans? Oh wow. Another Raven goes evil story. Wow. How shocking. How original. Like honestly, is there some word on high at dc about the titans not being allowed to do a story that isn’t rehashing Judas contract or trigon? so i’ve had literally no time for shifting recently 💀 I haven’t even attempted in a month or so.

and i know everyone’s like “make time!” or “shifting is easy just do ___!” girl i’m telling you i’m up at 6 in the morning and my day isn’t over until 11, then i need to go to sleep and do it all again the next day. having responsibilities sucks ass.

BUT- in the meantime, I’ve been exploring potential DRs and making pinterest boards and cute little spotify playlists and basically it’s the main way i’m attached to shifting right now. My living situation has changed (positive) but that’s a whole other mess and basically Ophelia has NO time ❌

So updates might be slow until i move into my dorm in August, but anyway here’s a new list of some of my drs in case anyone is looking for a new place to shift:

So, I have my Hogwarts DR right? But honestly, it’s not really my main focus at the moment. i’m really just trying to get to my waiting room before i decide where the hell i’m going. this dr is cute and adorable and feels very homey to me. i’ve actually considered permashifting there tbh. it’s the world i’ve scripted the most for and what ignited my shifting journey.

Then, I have a Fame dr. kind of obligatory at first but the more i was getting into it, the more shit i’ve added and i actually love it now. it’s a mid-2010s and onward fame dr, so it’s like 2015 where i’m shifting. i’ve scripted to start out on broadway (OBC for katherine pulitzer in newsies), eventually working my way to the acting industry and then the music industry. i’ve got at least three albums planned and I even have an idea for a directorial debut limited series. I’ve also scripted myself into movies and shows that don’t exist in my cr so i’m excited to see how that goes!

I have some ideas for a marvel/Avengers dr. I’m a Greek demi-goddess with questionable parentage, but I insert myself into Tony’s life right around the first Iron Man. With weird time mechanics and whatever I just want to be besties with peter parker and train with strange and bucky tbh. extended found family is what i live for

I’m also adding separate countries under the same nation. like yes, there’s the earth kingdom and fire kingdom, but they have separate designations sort of like the southern and northern water tribes.

bridgerton dr, y’all fr need to get in on this. new pretty dresses every day, men competing for my hand in marriage, elitist politics, orchestral music, flowers everywhere- it’s just going to be a good time i know it.

The 100 but specifically seasons 1-2 (MAYBE 3). Less death and more fun but with some scripting i think the idea of a society run by delinquent teenagers from space who are also fighting barbaric remnants of a destroyed civilization sounds cool as HELL bro. But i finished the show and the plot after the time jump isn’t what I want so i’m gonna script the hell out of the actual plot to make it fit what i want.

Trap House dr ! (another youtuber dr, shockingly) with the trap house circa the late 2010s. ghost hunting with sam and colby, talking shit with jake and corey, doing stupid shit and partying and just having a good time bro. i’m also scripting out Elton 🙈

narnia dr but specifically from LWW through the golden era of narnia. ruling over a mythological land with the pevensies, exploring the lands as far as they go, learning the lore with the other places in the world narnia exists in (where the telmarines come from and the other nations), i just think it’d be cool as hell.

What goes in your head while deciding the direction of the plot or story? What books do you read to write those lovely quotes on the beginning of each chapter? Who or what are your influences?

Omg, I am bowled over, you are way too generous and way too kind! Thank you!!! So much for the ultra lovely words! It makes me so happy that you like my scribblings. I'm afraid I'm not very good at giving writing advice (or taking it) and I don't know how well I can explain my hack of a process, but I'll do my best.

Generally, it just starts with an idea. Two characters I want to see mashed together, or a scene I want to see realized. Like I'm working on a book with Theseus and the Minotaur, and the first thing in my head was Theseus and the Minotaur looking at each other down a long dark, candlelit hallway, with this uneasy and erotic tension. I also wanted to play with a bit of character inversion and make the Minotaur extremely well-read and gentle and creative, and make Theseus a bit of a brute. One of my favorite things in literature is taking the typical unsympathetic or villainous character and recasting everything through their POV. So I think a core idea or scene and also, almost more important, I think of the sort of main emotion I want to evoke in my reader and leave them with.

I'm a terribly messy writer and tend to throw plot points at the story like spaghetti on a wall, just looking to see what sticks. (Though I'm really working to change this as I move from fic to original stuff because I'm taking on more plotwork and it's too much to pants for me.)

The others, where I find the quotes and how my writing and character work has developed, are really one and the same. I read a lot! And I read a lot of books that write the way I admire and would like to write. I'm not very original tbh, but I am a very good mimic. As one of my favorite books on creativity says, "Start copying. Nobody is born with a style or voice. We don't come out of the womb knowing. who we are. In the beginning, we learn by pretending to be our heroes. We learn by copying. We're talking about practice here, not plagiarism - plagiarism is trying to pass someone else's work off as your own. Copying is about reverse-engineering. It's like a mechanic taking apart a car to see how it works." (I highly, HIGHLY rec this book if you are looking for great viewpoint on creativity and originality and finding your voice in creative fields, it goes into it much deeper but the core is this: study and copy the masters you're inspired by like you're an apprentice to a Renaissance master. Figure out how they did it. Find the thinking behind it, the technique. Then take that and put your own characters and setting and story through that lens, see what you find.)

So, I copy. I reverse-engineer. I read and reread my favorites and make notes about why certain things work and resonate and how I'd like to try something similar. Sometimes I try to write similar characters or similar scenes as writing warmups and practice, just to see how it feels or changes my own voice.

My favorite authors and the ones I'm the most inspired by are Jeanette Winterson, Anne Carson, John Gardner, Ocean Vuong, Clarice Lispector, Umberto Eco, Italo Calvino, and Patti Smith. I know I'm forgetting a bunch, but these are the top ones that I'm always circling back to, taking down their books and opening them up like they're a cadaver and I'm Victor Frankenstein, desperate to see how they tick.

You TRULY made my whole month with this ask, it's so lovely and a bright spot as I struggle and gnash my teeth over my current projects, so really, thank you so much!

50% - Would your character rather create something or destroy something?

Most of them would rather create, so let's start with the outliers to keep things a bit more interesting, hopefully, lol.

Lensan is generally destruction. He's hard-headed and by and large stuck in his established way of things. He ended up less Dark Side than I had anticipated when I started with him, but he is still comfortably on that end of the spectrum. He's hard to plug into a group setting with the rest of my characters because the unified plot in the expansions is pretty anathema to him. He's one of my few hard-core loyalists to his original faction - and even that's weird to say when he ends up running with the Mandalorians, at least for a while, after the Great Hunt and otherwise largely continuing to return to the Sith Empire.

He is the kind that believes in shows of strength and generally doesn't tolerate being used or manipulated. I have to say generally because, to his credit, he's been... a bit surprisingly more level-headed in the Alliance than I would've given him credit for. I suppose even he can realize that shooting all of your problems isn't always the best way to craft stability in a group. Still, Len would rather deal with his problems with force and strength, so he trends consistently towards destruction.

Savosta I would say is... indifferent. Or as close as it may be to indifference in such a thing. He ultimately surrounds himself with people that prefer creation and cooperation - people like Rhystyl and even Tyr, the idealist at heart that he is. But his personal path has been littered with ruin and destruction to the point that he's... 'numb' might be going a bit far, but he was resigned to his use as a tool for several years. Destruction was part of that tool's use. I think, largely, he's still more in a utilitarian view of himself than something completely positive. He will be blade and shield in one if he must for his companion and Rhyst's purposes tend towards creation, so, by proxy, so to will Savosta's, but he will bear the burden of bloody hands and destroyer of enemies and obstacles to get them there rather than see any more of it fall upon Rhyst's shoulders. Something something Law of Conservation, matter can neither be created nor destroyed, to further a bit of an almost poetic sense on his place, if you will.

Tyr then, since I mentioned him in passing, would prefer to say creation. Genuinely, I think he does want out of the kind of doom spiral his life in intelligence work has been. It's just incredibly difficult to imagine. And everyone and their cousin keeps pulling him back in, lol. So, Tyr is... idk, highly at risk? For that idealization of death as the final escape. I'd hesitate to call it a death wish because it's not that he's particularly keen to die. There's just... few other ways he can imagine his career in intelligence ending and everything else is much, much worse. Death, at least, is final. That's incredibly preferable to losing his self-control and becoming an unwilling puppet again.

Tyr's career as a Cipher has been deconstruction, by and large. It's not ever been particularly for creating anything good, or for the greater good he believes in. Sure, at a time, he claimed service to the Empire to protect its citizens, but the Sith's control is a rot to him and it's intrinsic to that system - therefore it's a system he'd rather light on fire, tbh.

So.., yes. Tyr would love to create. He'd love to just... walk away and let the Sith and the Jedi, the Empire and the Republic, figure out their own bullshit for once. But he's well-versed in destruction far more than restoration, so without a few guiding stars to hold him steady and remind him what he's fighting for, he's very dangerously capable of destroying himself in a consuming drive to finish it before it finishes him. With the way everyone keeps herding him around, what other choice does he have but to strike back when cornered?

Every day I get a little closer to believing that dropping him off in smuggler!companion au was the correct choice and that it'd genuinely fix a lot of his problems and maybe I should let him try that a bit more seriously in main-verse timelines somewhere kadnlfasdnfla;dsfsf What if he did just take his boyfriend(s) and fuck off into space to disappear behind another enigmatic nickname until he fades into obscurity like all of the other legends, wouldn't that be nice???? I think it might.

3. what makes you love writing?

I think just having control over the work while simultaneously having none. Eg. When I was writing TLG I had an entire outline of where it was going to go and how it was going to be. Then I actually started writing and it was clear that original plan wasn't going to capture the story, so I expanded it (a bit more than planned, but it's okay--I'm fond of most of the additions).

Also it's fun to make your own world come alive as best as you can. I think writing is one of the easier ways to breathe life into characters that lived in your head until then.

4. what does it take for you to be proud of something you’ve written?

Not much tbh! If I wrote it, I tend to love it--I'm always just proud to have put something onto a page! However, I do get a lot of dopamine when I finish a chapter and go back and reread earlier chapters and catch all of my foreshadowing. Which you all should totally do for tlg *wink wink*.

5. what do you think is the most important part of writing?

Enjoying it. At it's core, writing is hard. It's difficult to put thoughts into paper in a way that anyone could understand. So whenever I struggle to enjoy writing for a moment, I don't force myself to do any more than a paragraph. If in that time, my writing remains unenjoyable, I just stop until I feel that urge to write again.

6. are your projects driven more by character or plot?

Character, character, character all the way. My characters are the plot. I never write stories about things that happened, I write about the people who experienced them. Eg. Roland in the very first draft of TLG wasn't going to feature very much. His presence was so little, that I didn't even have a name for him. Suffice to say, it was a boring draft where everyone felt very out of character.

3. describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic

starting off strong lmfao

uhm.

okay so for oneshots, i'll just come up with an idea and i just kinda go from there, no actual outline or plan. i prefer my fics to have a happy ending, so i do have the end in mind, and its basically just "it ends with comfort and/or cuddles".

honestly, i only come up with a vague idea of what i want to happen and let the fic do its own thing.

for some of my longer works (three-shots or oneshots that go over 10k and have a plot), i'll come up with a mental list of the things i want to happen, no real outlines to worry about there either.

regarding fics with more than 3 chapters: i havent written those since 2020 (which is. wild) so i only have one example for this (since my last longfic was zero outline, just a core concept, "fuck it we ball". i like the energy 16 y/o me brought to the table tbh). what i did for all the ashes in my wake was that i made an outline (just filled with the major plot points in the fic, bullet point style) just to have a general direction to take the fic in.

then i made a chapter by chapter outline (that i update everytime i veer off-track or introduce something i didnt originally intend to add in (*cough* big mama *cough*)). i just jot down the basic things that will happen, how its gonna end, plus some basic notes regarding the progress of the internal + external conflicts. stuff to keep in mind and the such.

(sorry if this one is a bit all over the place, it's hard to really describe my creative process other than just saying "chaos and dozens of sticky notes")

15. how do you write smut scenes? Do you get very visual or detailed? How important is it to be realistic?

i've never actually written any smut scene. first, i think i'd be very bad at it, but also i've just never really wanted to write anything smutty.

20. have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

i DO actually have a common setting for patrol scenes!! i like to set those in warehouses more often than not. not sure why, maybe because it's such a generic bad guy location, or because it's a location that doesn't require too much research. when in doubt on where to set your patrol/fight scene, put em in a warehouse!

other than that, i like to compare my characters feeling dizzy/about to pass out to feeling like they're underwater/everything feels muffled/murky

similarly, when a character wakes up after passing out/being knocked out, i like to write "it was like breaching the surface of a murky pond" or something like that

(i wish i could put more here, im just very bad at noticing my own writing patterns lmao.)

26. which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

my one and only crackfic ghosts? in front of MY salad? where duke thomas decides the best sibling bonding activity is trying to summon a ghost when he lives in gotham city. this was written in one sitting at 3 in the morning, and you can tell.

here's a little gem from this nonsensical fic:

hm. for this fandom, my favorite to write for is Leo (i dont think ive been subtle about that LMFAO)

the choice wasn't really swayed by followers or readers, he's just so easy to write for me because i relate to him (and raph) the most, and we share a similar sense of humor which really makes writing internal dialogue and his pov chapters easy for me. and this is especially true for ataimw, but im the oldest and i saw a lot of myself in leo when he was arguing with raph in the movie and i quite literally went "oh so he is EXACTLY like me during arguments"

i do HC leo as the younger twin, so with me being the oldest sibling, you would THINK raph would be easier to write for me but nope!! apparently not!!

I always used the notepads they would give me at work to scribble some sketches and ideas. Slime and Brawler were not my first OCs, but before them, I haven't been drawing too much OC stuff. After them, I started to feel very inspired for more again and so I started on drawing on something that I quickly began to call the Pique Kingdom, named after that ♠️ symbol here.

They started out as soldiers for one of the four great kingdoms, inspired by ♥️♦️♠️♣️ obviously, and the plot would play out similar to the beginnings of Xenoblade 3 (funny, now that I think about it!).

Seeing them now, I notice how crucial those three core designs have been because, in 00571's case, they haven't really changed or, like it went with 01043 and 00028, never changed the basic idea the designs were based on!

to advertise that advertisement as a legitimate video, to place it in the playlist, is an insult to fans that have been excitedly waiting for content. what thomas & crew should do is take advantage of the asides playlist and put more of this stuff in there (to be honest, they should have three playlists: the actual sanders sides videos (ex: intrusive thoughts), the asides (ex: gavin's sides, the anniversary) and the bullshit sides (ex: any and all overhyped and just-slightly emotionally manipulative advertisements))

but i digress

to address your next point, you are absolutely right. the arc is tiring. seeing characters in constant conflict with no resolution or end in sight makes for terrible fic motivation, trust me. you'd think with all the fillers there would be room to breathe, but it just seems so off-kilter with the original content that it seems fabricated.

i wonder what the finale will look like. but that's a whole other can of worms.

I am sensing some desperation in the TW camp. The whole Derek is back and the jeep 3 times and trying to get Eli in as many behind the scenes with the jeep and now with Derek? They even had Tyler Twitter post it. And he never posts anything. Not even his own shows

There isn’t much else getting any attention for this crap fest is there ? And even then the replies and comments , it’s all about stiles and sterek that’s being commented on and not that they are going to watch it but can’t wait to canibalize the shit out of it to make it sterek. Did TH return really generate anything? Did it gain anything ? Any Twitter trends? Any real hype? It got some good likes and retweet numbers. Most fans knew he’d filmed scenes so it wasn’t a surprise. If the best they can do is use Derek with his ridiculous plot device son that makes no sense in canon as a character Jeff is in deep trouble trying to find some buzz. Not many sterek fans who were at one point their core fanbase isn’t on board and many general TW fans just aren’t interested in the movie many based on the lost son plot point? I mean the original cast and certainly thier true alpha shit Scott returning isn’t making the buzz. Is this movie going to do anything? Especially isolated on paramount + ? I think it’s already in trouble.

It's ironic that as I type out this response right now, 'Stiles' is literally trending over on Twitter. But yes, they are going to face a major problem trying to entice people to watch this movie. They should've picked up on this when they announced the cast & all anybody could talk about was how Stiles wasn't going to be in the movie/how shitty they treated Arden.

As popular as Derek is in the fandom, he is not enough of a draw to pull back audience members from the past to come watch this show. I'm willing to bet that Jeff thinks fans of Superman & Lois will come check out this movie, but he's dead wrong. There are ex-TW fans who watch S&L, but not the reverse.

the fans who picked up the show season 4-6

the fans who didn't watch the original run, but picked it up via streaming during the quarantine (the newbies)

I think Jeff is aiming for nostalgia by bringing back Jackson & Allison, but the problem is that the majority of people who liked those characters/knew who those characters were either stopped watching long, long ago and/or hate Jeff Davis & want nothing to do with him because of the way he treated the characters, ships, and fans.

It was probably in Jeff's best interest to cater to the newbie fans who don't yet hate him. But Jeff didn't even call Cody, so he just cut off access to the Thiams that would've promo'd this movie for free. And Jeff only brought back Liam & Mason, instead of all the other newbie characters they tried to spinoff with during the final seasons of the show.

And then, of course, we have the issue of Dylan/Stiles not returning. And honestly, that's the biggest kick to this movie's ability to find success. Dylan/Stiles is the heart of the franchise. Without him, the franchise cannot survive. We saw this during the final season of the show. And without Dylan/Stiles in this movie, Jeff just lost a whole shitload of people that would've watched otherwise.

I think that had Jeff built & maintained a working relationship with fans & not been such a miserable ass, we'd all be here to watch this movie & hype it up. And I'm willing to bet Dylan would've returned, but it seems like Dylan had a bad experience in his final years on this show & wants nothing to do w/ it.

It's Jeff's fault, tbh.
