July 2023 | Using a Prompt Generator to Make My TBR
This month I decided to do something a little different and I wanted to use a prompt generator once again to pick my TBR. I did this quite a while ago, you can see what it ended up picking for me last time here: To Be Read | November 2020, Using a Prompt Generator. This time around I ended up using Random Prompt by heyreader. Without more of a delay here are the prompts it sent my way as well as…

Ultimate Enemy in DP in DC world
Okay so, I think we can all concede that logically in an au where danny phantom takes place within the dc universe, Ultimate Enemy's bad timeline would not happen. Like, Dan would not be able to take over the world, even with Vlad's ghost half helping him.
(though i do really like the takes of how that would happen, even if i don't ultimately agree with the end result. It's a fun story and a great opportunity for angst.)
But! I have an idea! I propose that the dark danny timeline would be in line with the evil teen titans timeline. The one with cloned Bart and Kon, champion of Ares Cassie, and, of course, batman with a gun Tim.
No, not just because I recently finished reading the 2003 run of teen titans.
(actually that's the major reason, yeah. it was a pretty good comic and i think it'd be cool if other people read it too)
But because I think it'd be interesting if it was a East titans vs west titans vs some ghost taking over the midwest and a majority of canada.
(does dc have any canadian heroes? I bet they do, but I've just never heard of any...)
And!! As a bonus!! Danny in the future would've probably gotten into a tussle or smth with the titans, which might lead to an uneasiness working with the present version of them. If he recognizes them. Like, Kon and Cassie I could see him knowing, Bart was on the good side iirc, but Tim?? No, no, he had a mask! A very distinct mask.
Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that Danny totally thinks Batman snaps one day.

march; into the abyss
Happy March, and a happy welcome to Spring (almost)! This month's prompt for the Suck Your TBR Dry Reading Challenge is into the abyss!
The unknown, the shadows we avoid, the heart of the void, the feelings we bury, lower and lowest points, a place of no return, the hero's journey. Where do we go and return changed?
Ideas: fantasy, horror, thriller, nonfiction, mythology, mixed media, literary fiction, a very long book
It has been a slow reading on my end, but hopefully the challenge is going better for everyone else! I will be reading multiple non-fiction books for this one!
reminder; you can follow the challenge via storygraph here.
Happy Reading! And share what you've read so far :)

[setting asks]
"So, I used to play here when I was little. With Cisca. I guess Dad didn't keep it up since we, like, grew up." Lando just barely fits under the roof of the treehouse, but Carlos has to hunch over so that he doesn't hit his head.
"I like it," says Carlos, even though he can't possibly like it. It's dirty and some of the floorboards have rotted through, and fingers of light shine through the holes in the walls. "Hey, watch out for that--"
Lando jerks his head around to find what he should watch out for, and backs directly into a giant cobweb. The instant he feels the threads on his neck, his entire body feels like it's crawling with insects. Carlos rushes forwards.
"Lando! Lando, calm down." Carlos pins Lando's limbs to his sides with an arm around his body. Lando didn't realize how bad he was freaking out. His eyes sting like he's going to cry. Oh God, he's going to cry.
He squirms in Carlos's grip. "Is it on me? Is it on me? Get it off. Get it off."
Carlos tightens his grip and rakes his fingers calmly through Lando's hair. "It's gone. Just a little spider."
"A spider?" Lando shouts. There are probably more on him. It probably laid eggs in his hair--
Carlos presses his lips to Lando's hair. He wouldn't kiss Lando's hair if there were spider eggs in it. "It's gone now."

Alright, I made a challenge! If anyone wants to read globally with me, I made a little list of prompts, neatly divisible by 12 months, plus a bonus. If you want to track your progress, I set it up on Storygraph, too - the link is below.
Tag your posts with "#ya world challenge" ! You don't have to read YA, but I want to see all your posts. :D Also please reblog to spread the word.
YA World Challenge 2023 prompts
By a Caribbean author
Features a religion not your own
Historical/contemporary fiction in a country not your own
Set in Latin America
European book in translation
Features a minority group in your country
Desi lead character, or set on the Indian subcontinent
By an Australian or New Zealand author
A non-Western sci-fi or fantasy world
Set in Asia
By an African author
Minority or non-US disabled character
LGBTQIA+ book in translation
About immigrants or refugees
Set in the Middle East
By an indigenous author
Diversity jackpot! Team of characters of varying cultures
By a Pacific Islander author
Set somewhere you'd like to travel
Non-Western mythology or fairy tale
Memoir of someone outside your cultural group
A country you heard about on the news
Focus on environment or climate
Eastern European or Slavic book
Bonus! Roll a random number and read a book for that country (my personal method, see instructions below)
Storygraph challenge link is here
Roll a random number and read a book for that country
Go to random.org and generate a number from 8 to 215.
Go to my spreadsheet here, and find your number. Use my picks or find your own!
Goodreads lists or this group are helpful for finding books. (If I'm having trouble, I'll allow myself a culturally relevant fantasy world as substitute. Or you can reroll if you get a particularly difficult country!)
If you don't want to include the territories from my list, an "official" list of 195 is here, enter 1 to 195 in the randomizer.
