When I talk about corporations not being able to tell the difference between "AI is impressive" and "It is impressive that AI works as well as it does", this is the kind of shit I'm talking about.
This happened because rather than pay a human, the airline chose to implement technology that does not yet understand information in the same way that a human does. Specifically, while great strides have been made in the areas of getting AI to parse language in a way that produces coherence and relevance, we're still struggling with the concept of fact-checking. In other words, AI is "impressive" compared to previous versions of itself, and in terms of how difficult it is to get a computer to do some of these things at all. It is not impressive when compared to a human of average intelligence being assigned to the same tasks. But companies are still putting it in charge of things, because they can't seem to grasp that this "impressive" new technology is essentially the equivalent of a surprisingly literate three-year-old.

Tech Illiteracy for Upcoming Generations
I believe ever since Windows 95, the tech industry on the consumer side has went down a path of simplifying things too much, and instead of it helping us understand how computers work, they've also harmed us. Win95 for example, for all the amazing things it did with innovating UI design, added one of the worst options that would be enabled by default in all future windows versions: "Hide file extensions of known types."
This is bad from both a educational and security perspective. It's an educational issue because people starting out with Windows won't know what a file extension is. File extensions are important because they tell you what a file is; a program, a text document, an image, etc. Yet Win95 just expects you to know what a file is just by it's name and the icon alone. Unfortunately some file types share the same icon, so that method isn't reliable. It can also be frustrating to a user who's trying to import something like a photo into a program and it doesn't import because it's not the correct file type, but because the user doesn't know what a file extension is and likely believes all images are the same, that user would just be confused and wouldn't know why they can't import that photo (feel sorry to any new user downloading a webp.) Moreover, hiding file extensions is bad from a security perspective because you can't tell when a file isn't actually what is seems to be. Your only clue is if the icon doesn't match, but that can easily be changed by a virus author. Many users who were expecting to view an image, video or document ended up getting a virus likely because they couldn't see file extension and realize that file didn't share the same extension as the user's other documents, and instead matches the one for a program. That would have given a clue to a new user that something's up.
Later from Win98 and on, Microsoft would add the "My X" series of folders to try and simplify things further. While not a bad idea on paper, I believe this screwed with some users by thinking everything needs to go into those folders and that you don't have to worry about creating your own folders. I'm sure many users just dropped stuff into those folders and didn't think much of it, not knowing how to organize or create folders. And most programs didn't appear in those folders, so users might not know how to navigate the file explorer outside of the "My Documents" folder, or learn that removing a shortcut doesn't actually remove the program that's associated with it (and that's despite the popup in Windows XP about deleting shortcuts, which just tells you the uninstall control panel setting and not where the program is located.) Sure some users might learn to make their own folders and to organize better, but I'm sure more stubborn people, especially old people, will never realize that and just have their sets of "My" folders be a mess. And not all the "My" folders were used correctly. My Documents isn't "My" Documents any more, as programs would later use it to store stuff like user information, options and plug-ins, making it's purpose more unclear. Nearly everyone's My Downloads folder is a mess after Chrome made it a standard to save everything there rather than ask the user where to save. Lastly the short lived My Games folder, which I'm pretty sure a majority of games didn't actually save anything in there other than a shortcut.
I don't think we really realized the damage this has caused until we reached the smartphone era, where phones just automatically save images, videos and downloads to their own folders, and the file browser is seen as an app to ignore and most people don't know how to use it. Ask any kid or teen if they know how to navigate through their phone's file explorer, and a majority of them will answer no. Simple tasks like transferring files via USB are becoming less and less known with file and music streaming services becoming the norm. Everyone is just letting their phones put files where it wants and aren't really thinking about it. And this might not be too bad of an issue if apps weren't too inconsistent on where to actually place everything. Your camera photos might not be in a folder named "Photos", and are instead in a folder named "DCIM" in the root directory. Your phone might update your camera app too can cause your photos to be saved in an entirely different folder too (that happened to me.) Saved images or ringtones might be in their own weird folders separated from each other even if they are just audio or image files, because that's how they programmed the app. This isn't even a new user issue, it's an issue for everyone because experienced computer users don't even get to choose where an app should save it's stuff. You might not think this is an issue if apps just work fine despite this, but what if your phone gets full and you wanna delete files. Well if it's not related to clearing out cache or deleting apps, you're fucked if you don't know how to navigate through the messy and bloated file browser. I also wonder how much processing power is wasted on the phone searching for these files rather than looking on one or two folders where everything should be.
I could go on and on, but I think I've said enough. Things have been simplified to much to where it no longer teaches people how to use something. "Just ignore, you'll be fine, you're not letting anything build up. Oh is something not working correctly, well then the program just sucks. There's no super easy conversion method that will make the file magically work with the program, it just sucks! Did you get a virus? Well that's not our fault, you should have purchased an anti-virus! What do you mean you thought it was a video?"
Ironically in an attempt to make computers more accessible, we're soon gonna get more people that don't know how folders work.

LITERACY QUOTE OF THE DAY

Tuesday, March 19, 2024
“We don’t normally think of it as such, but writing is a technology, which means that a literate person is someone whose thought processes are technologically mediated. We became cognitive cyborgs as soon as we became fluent readers, and the consequences of that were profound.” – Ted Chiang, The Best of Subterranean

Career Opportunities in Rural Areas
India is a country where more than 60% of the population lives in rural areas. Indeed, people living in rural areas cannot take advantage of the resources available in urban areas. To overcome this issue, education in rural management and development is very demanding. It is essential not only to eradicate illiteracy and poverty but also for a variety of career opportunities. Education brings personal satisfaction that improves the standard of living, including people's economic, political, social, and spiritual development.
In rural areas, people are primarily engaged in farming and agricultural practices. Apart from these, they are engaged in the production of handicrafts or employed in small-scale industries. The primary aim of rural individuals is to acquire good career opportunities that can enable them to sustain their livelihood effectively. In order to get a good job, people need to enhance their academic qualifications and learning skills.
In this blog post, we will discuss rural career opportunities and the courses offered in rural sectors.
Types of Career Opportunities in Rural Sectors
There are several career opportunities in rural communities, including those in agriculture, education, industries, and healthcare. To seek different employment options, rural people can pursue careers based on their skills, interests, and capabilities.
1. Agricultural Sector
Agriculture is considered the major occupation in rural communities. When individuals are engaged in this sector, they need to possess the essential skills and information about methods of production and cultivation. A career in the agricultural field offers a wide variety of professional paths related to dairy, farming, poultry, and animal husbandry. These career paths involve everything from growing crops to raising livestock like cattle, pigs, and chickens. The following are the top jobs in this field:
Agricultural Engineer
Farm Manager
Agricultural Economist
Conservation Planner
Agricultural Salesperson
Soil and Plant scientist
Commercial Horticulturalist
2. Education Sector
In rural communities, there has been the establishment of training centers, schools, and educational institutions that provide individuals with adequate information and knowledge. With education, rural people can apply new learning skills and implement better innovations and practices, obtaining numerous types of employment opportunities. Besides, an education system in rural communities enhances the quality of life, creates awareness and capability, increases freedom, and improves overall holistic human development for the people and the nation. This sector includes multiple job opportunities, such as:
Teachers
Instructors
Training Associate
Monitoring and Evaluation Associate
Operations Lead
Implementation Lead: AP SALT
Project Officer, etc.
Education plays a significant and remedial role in maintaining the social and economic development of the country. To enhance students’ academic performance and learning capabilities, an online education portal “study24hr.com” enables teachers and students to connect and clear doubts easily. It offers the best eLearning techniques with the help of the latest electronic resources. Additionally, the platform provides various online courses related to banking, digital marketing, UPSC, SSC, etc.
3. Healthcare Centers
Rural people can obtain career opportunities in the healthcare and medical sectors as well. To be employed in this area, it is essential not to discriminate against any individual based on race, religion, caste, age, ethnicity, gender, or socio-economic background. Healthcare centers control the spread of diseases and reduce the growing rate of mortality due to the lack of adequate medical facilities. Moreover, the several rural healthcare careers are beneficial for individuals who are looking forward to seeking a good job opportunity in the health and medical sectors, including:
Clinical Specialist
Rural Healthcare Practitioner
Program Manager
CSR Growth Manager
Project Coordinator, etc.
4. Factories and Industries
The most prominent examples of career opportunities in rural areas are factories and industries. Rural people are employed in large-scale industries to earn their livelihood. These factories are engaged in different operations such as plantations, silk weaving, diamond polishing, beedi rolling, coal mining, gem cutting, etc. The job opportunities that are available in this sector are considered hazardous. Therefore, in order to prevent any accidents from taking place, people are required to acquire proper training under the supervision of an understandable and skilled person. Furthermore, job seekers can get the following jobs in this sector:
Assistant Manager
Junior Designer
State Head of Rural Warehouse Operations
Deputy Area Manager
Field Officer
Sales Manager, etc.

Conclusion
In the end, it can be stated that within rural areas, it is important to formulate programs and schemes that would augment agricultural productivity, career opportunities, and the overall quality of life of rural individuals. The government should take the initiative in spreading education so that more and more children can engage and secure their future. They should be encouraged to learn new skills to get the best job opportunities in the future. Therefore, we all should realize and take steps to make rural lives better by helping them get a highly qualified education.

Drafted a couple posts because I'm not sure how to say this. Young people are inexperienced and frequently obnoxious. This has always been true. Cultural shifts and new technology only mean they will be inexperienced and obnoxious in different, more visible ways. You aren't beating the grumpy old hater allegations by cloaking your kids-these-days bitching in tiktok scapegoating and alleged youth tech illiteracy.
You have forgotten all the embarrassing ways you were inconsiderate at 18. You might still be your old manager's go-to anecdote for crazy oblivious interns. All the forums you posted on begging for answers instead of reading the fucking sticky or googling it are lost to time. But nah this generation is uniquely stupid and rude, for real this time.

I don't want to sound like a boomer or anything but as more and more AI gets implemented into every day tech I implore you to pay attention to what it's correcting and not let yourself become complacent and lazy in your relationship with writing and literacy. I don't care if you use it, if its correcting your grammar learn what its correcting so you might not need it as much next time, if you're asking Grammarly to word something politely or in a different tone pay attention to how it does that. If its summarizing something to you take the time to read the full thing as well and pay attention to any disparities or anything you might have missed. Reading and writing is so important, and I think it's great that some of this AI can give you access to resource to help you improve it, but you actually have to pay attention and learn. Functional illiteracy is already a problem, and this kind of tech is only going to make that worse if we let it.
In the US kids still in school are becoming more technologically illiterate because tech came out that made using it easier/more mindless and so they stopped being taught how to use literally anything else.
So many people struggle with media literacy because they decided English/Literature class was worthless and writing essays was stupid even though its entire purpose is to make you media literate and give you tools to think critically and then express your thoughts with accuracy.
Progress is great, its fantastic, but we need to engage with it mindfully. Consumerism became an American trademark and we lost Home Ec. classes. Why teach you to sew, or cook, or garden (all great life skills that EVERYONE needs) when they can get you to pay for it to be done for you. Nothing is allowed to be fixed because they want you to buy a whole new version. They trademarked parts and tech for machines so that the people who knew how to fix things couldn't do it without them and the access to that kind of knowledge has gotten scarcer.
Reading and writing is the foundation of communication and understanding in the modern world. They are some of the most important skills you could ever have, do not let our vampiric, productivity money focused shit show of a society take that from you. The ability to read and write revolutionized civilization. It was gatekept from the masses because it makes people powerful. It makes you harder to control. Do not let them take this from you, and absolutely do not give it up to them of your own free will.

People need to break their computers more often, and I mean that with my whole heart.
Loose a few screws while taking apart your laptop
Flash a stupid Linux distro
Accidentally break your kernal
Fuck up a software update
Fixing broken things is one of the best ways to become more computer literate. It developes the basis for all of your understanding going forward. Learning the intricacies of your operating system and of your hardware is something that is so powerful: in both self confidence and in self sufficiency way! I mean this especially for Windows or Mac users.
No one is to blame for technical or computer illiteracy besides corporate greed. Corporations directly benefit from your not knowing how your computer works.
Fixing something is the first, and most important, steps in liberating yourself from the technologic corporate chokehold of recent history.

After seeing disagreeable claims critiquing the end of Wakanda Forever float around for the nth time, I felt like organizing my qualms and putting them neatly into another blog. These are just my musings.
"Shuri should've killed Namor! Sparing him was wrong!" I apologize for my harsh phrasing, but this is a horrible and brainless take, especially when it's from begrudged shippers or anti-Wakanda Forever recasters 😭. Whenever I see it, I can't help but wonder if anyone who says this or agrees genuinely likes and (especially) understands Namor and/or Shuri's actual characters. And no, I do not mean the surface aesthetic of or attraction to them.
If you knew and understood what kind of character Shuri (at least in the MCU) is, you would know why she spared Namor's life after nearly taking it. If you understood the important messages carefully baked into the film, you'd understand the writing choice of Shuri sparing Namor and Namor not being the "incorrigible villain who deserves death."
Asking the silly question of why she didn't kill him in the form of critique, or worse, saying she should have or somehow should give him hell after the fact (fortunately, a regressive immaturity neither character has), is a clear show of media illiteracy. It neglects both characters and at least one pillar theme of Wakanda Forever. If Shuri killed Namor, Talokan and Wakanda would unnaturally be eating away at each other for eternity, allowing the surface colonist nations to swoop in as the destabilization process was done for them. The true villains and enemies that put them in that situation where they collided with one another would gain access to their vibranium and technology. Game over.
Shuri Was Never In Her "Villain Era"
The simple answer, Shuri is not Wanda Maximoff 😊. Goodnight. (Author's note because someone was troubled by this tongue and cheek remark: I don't hate Wanda at all. I meant what I wrote: Shuri is not Wanda, just Wakandan. People want her to be Wanda and have a Wanda arc when she is not and will not. 🫡)
Even at the lowest of her low, Shuri is no villain. Shuri was just a young woman trying to find what kind of leader she was in the midst of grief, inner turmoil, and human anger. I don't know why some fans say she had a "villain era" or want her to canonically have a "villain era," but ok. That is not Shuri, nor would it have filled the hole in Shuri's heart, as said by Nakia. It was not just because it endangered Wakanda and would spearhead them in an eternal war either. Although, that is reason enough for Shuri not to kill Namor.
Who Princess Shuri Truly Is
Princess Shuri is a natural healer, teacher, and creator. Shuri loves, designs, creates, innovates, builds, and protects. Shuri has people who would die for her and trusts her to make the right choice in the end, faithfully standing beside her even when they recognize that the trajectory she currently set them on wasn't a good one. Why do you think this is? Because they know and trust Shuri. They know her brain is as big as her heart.
Tumblr media
Shuri is not inherently destructive. That was the uncharacteristic result of her gripe with death (thinking it meant gone) and destructive handling of her grief. Ryan Coogler even pointed out how Shuri's state was unhealthy and dangerous. Shuri and Namor were both grieving and asking themselves painful questions.
That is why Killmonger is who appears to her. Killmonger is a violent, radical character (made that way by neglect, grief, loss, militaristic molding, and the suffering African Americans face) who almost carelessly sent Wakanda spiraling into mayhem. He became the people he hated, in the wise words of T'Challa, and was an unworthy king, in the wise words of Shuri. If such a man is comparing himself to Shuri and is who her subconscious elicited on the Ancestral Plane (which Shuri seems to be taking to her grave now, refusing to tell Nakia), maybe she's not doing alright? Just a thought!
This is also why Ramonda took her out by the river. It's why M'Baku said what he said at Ramonda's funeral. It is so she can mourn properly. So she could heal properly. Something she wasn't doing since the day T'Challa died.
Killing Namor would've destroyed her, not just her people. It wouldn't have sated her despite in her rightful anger, feeling it would. It would've just sent her past a point of no return.
"Show him who you are." Ramonda told her this after she struggled on her own with killing Namor. Why do you think Shuri hesitated even without Ramonda's influence (which was just her presence and reminding Shuri who she already was) yet? It didn't feel "right" to Shuri as their moment together (watching the Talokan sunrise), how Namor paralleled her, and how their people were alike flew through her mind's eye. Shuri hesitated, not because she was "soft" or "nonsensical mushy writing." Shuri saw what they were and what this was. She thought beyond herself. As Editor Michael P. Shawver said, Namor's line of, "only the most broken people can become great leaders" is what they focused on. It is what Shuri finally realizes at the bitter end. They relate. The narrative, characters, and actors all recognize this; I don't see how some audience members do not.
She and Namor were perpetuating the destructive cycle of grief and vengeance while setting that example for their people, but she was strong enough to pull herself up and break that chain. Then she offered her his hand for the sake of not only themselves, but their people. She saw firsthand the beauty of Talokan. Like Namor admired Wakanda in the beginning, she admired Talokan. She remembered her visit to Talokan in the mix of her nation's beauty.
"Vengance has consumed us. We cannot let it consume our people."
Not "my" people. Not "your" people. Our people.
Shuri realized many simple yet, at the same time, humanly complicated truths of how they had connectivity and were broken, trying to be the best leaders they could be. Neither of them was the villain but are what they were due to the bitter hand life dealt them and the situations they faced.
The Real Theme of Black Panther's Wakanda Forever
This movie also had clear themes of:
A) how POC/indigenous infighting sucks and is counterproductive
B) connectivity of black and brown, from culture to shared wounds
C) the scars of colonialization
Shuri killing Namor would defeat the carefully woven narrative and betray all these well-built things. I know some of you guys don't like to hear this, but Namor is not of the archetype of Killmonger, nor is he the real "villain," so he was handled accordingly.
“We talked to so many experts and really made relationships with them, because there was a lot to go through,” says Beachler. “There are a lot of parallels between Africans and Latin Americans as far as the colonization of their communities and cities, the enslavement of their people, the lies that were told about their culture, the misinterpretation of their words, and the ways they were made out to look demonized in order to elevate a European country.”
Shuri Getting Her Lick Back
"Shuri should've beaten Namor until-" or "She let him off the hook unpunished!" If you paid attention to the movie, you'd see she literally beat him within an inch of his life? She definitely did get her lick back just as Namor got his. Wanting her to get "more" licks after the fact is regressive.
Shuri:
isolated and trapped Namor to weaken and drain his energy
ferally clawed both of his wings, taking out his ability to fly
made him bleed and bruised him up
roasted him in a firey explosion, effectively charring him and rendering him temporarily paralyzed
Shuri didn't play patty cake with him; she made an immortal bleed and fear death. She had him gasping for air on his back at the mercy of her spear tip. She made him yield and call off the troops. She made an ally out of him on her terms who exalted her strength and is currently bandaged up, flightless, and awaiting to aid her (rather than striking first, waging war as originally wanted). It's more than enough and was the best course of action. What do you mean? What are you talking about?

Turned off anons. Just wanted people to send me fun asks about the fan-fictions I write, share their headcanons with me, ask about me and my interests and enjoyments.
Instead I got antisemitic messages and messages from people who can not be bothered to read a whole post and take things out of context. I have things I actually want to spend my time and energy on that bring me joy and fulfillment and makes the world better than educating people who can't not even bother to read a few short paragraphs When I write none-creativity writing I often put a disclaimer before it to avoid any confusion.
Myself as a pre-teen with a learning disability in the mid-2000s with far less information at my fingertips had more self awareness and reading comprehension skills and better analysis skills and empathy and was less sustainable to propaganda than current grown adults.
I swear the people can not even bother to read the whole thing of something before commenting, the whole anti intellectualism and media illiteracy and technology reliance is making people lazy and bigoted and view other as none real people with feelings and complex lives and beliefs and history and identities.
Some people just want to have power over others. Which kind of ironic because they are the same people saying send people to the guillotine because of their power and money or their perceived power and money. People just want to be spoon feed and have everything spelled out for them without doing any of the work. It hurts to sees especially as someone who creates art, and put intention in every piece of art I create.
On a positive note, if you want to send me asks about myself and my fandoms and other interests, it would make me very happy.
