have just been introduced to a kitten named rascal who lives on my floor and whose babysitters (who are not his owner?) were trying Really hard to goad me into adopting which like. he's a little baby and he's so so so silly and he barely even bit me but like also. this cat isn't yours???? anyway if the owner's giving him up then I might finally have a cat which like AHHHHHG
#i wanna cat SO BADD#but also i dont think this is the best environment to have ANY non-tank pet tbqh#and i dont wanna have to give him away if my housing situation changes bc my parents house wouldnt work#(one of our dogs has a pretty strong prey drive and i dont wanna risk it)#also the poor guy seems a bit skittish and i think the 2 big dogs would scare him#and then there's the 'is he my cat or your cat' thing w my roommate#i think the answer would be hes my cat bc shes more ambivalent but she can actually take him home so like#and ive pretty much been banking on going home after college anyway so like??? in the long term where would he go???#but also my dogs are getting older.. maybe by then they'll be gone and that problem'll go away#but hell my room there's bigger than my dorm room so even if we kept him in there it'd be a better space than here#it'd be a step up#ugh idk. i think it's a bad idea to have a cat in rooms this small in general. but i don't wanna see him go to a shelter either#like he's young and cute so maybe it'll be easier for him but he's also not super cuddly with strangers as far as i can tell#idk... im worried about him.... poor little rascal#like one of the girls mentioned being mean to him and i dont want him to be mistreated#like shining lights in his face and stuff#idk... sigh......#im considering transferring schools at some point. worst case scenario is i go somewhere they dont allow pets and i have to#either find a foster parent or give him away completely#but i really dont wanna have to do that if i can help it. i never want to put a pet that loves and depends on me in a situation like that#much less me like id bawl my ass off#but if theyre treating him bad then even if my situation isnt perfect wouldnt taking him in be in the right anyway?#but how long does that stand for? until i can find him a better home? ughh

BROOO why do Animorphs books have to be so expensive!!! (ToT) I found a "choose your own books" lot on ebay hoping to fill out my collection some more and some of the books were upwards of SIXTY DOLLARS!!! HOW CAN A SINGLE BOOK FROM 1999 THAT WAS ORIGINALLY FIVE BUCKS BE 60 DOLLARS!!

I played Season over the weekend, which if I had to condense "thematic meandering" into a videogame is probably what I would most closely end up with; but it was still a cozy chill time that targeted my very specific niche of robust cow petting mechanics. Followed by journaling the heck out of them.
I do think cute indies living and dying by their sincere desire to paint the human condition should never ever ever fall into the temptation of obtuse and nebulous worldbuilding that desperately needs to explain itself so it can function as an aesthetic blanket for their vignettes. Just keep it loose and metaphor-heavy, fellas.
Cause if you're not extremely, painfully specific about your intention with a story that centers ignorant tourism and historic preservation, you're gonna beef it, bud

I am a boring playstyle guy#scrapbooking and cycling in a pretty world is right up my alley. wish it wasn't so#man idk if I can call it what I want to call it cause it's so unclear of its own optics. the intention feels pure#for whatever good that can do in a context this god damn loaded :D but at least I recorded the froggies on my tapes#(a game like this does not need elaborate lore that it then fails to adequately explain anyway. that is a barrier to many of season's#emotional high points. shit just lacks clarity of purpose and happens as a given and banks on its aesthetic and melancholic context to#provide the necessary backbone for that punch. but then you end up revealing your hand and general flippant disposition towards this#nebulously coded cultural backdrop that you've constructed for ultimately shallow purposes. especially irt to the core ethos#like the game ultimately asks us if dispassionate preservation of a dying culture is more valuable than the vicarious experience of it but#then that binary is never meaningfully weighted since the protagonist survives and succeeds in either option BECAUSE of the journal and?#it all fizzles out in thematic incongruity. maybe it's my own hangups with glorification of legacy to such a manic degree#or maybe it's really just meant to be sort-of aimless and 'human' in that way. which again negates the need for this lore-brain barrier#just keep it simple without the oddly pedestrian mechanics of the literal apocalypse and the mass amnesia prayers and tell#the exact same story. with a tighter grip on the context of who the protagonist is in this land. there's your game)#text

There’s an article going around about an apparently high profile financial columnist getting Really Badly Scammed and people are being horrible and arrogant about it and I did, in fact, write up a whole screed about ‘you are not immune to propaganda scam tactics’ but UGH
In any case, you are not too smart or well informed to escape all scams without paying attention, and everyone who says they are owes the columnist ten dollars
#a solid two thirds of my job is either preventing scams or dealing with the aftermath#when I tell you these guys are good I mean it#it’s exactly like cults find the right combination of fear and panic and you can get anyone#…….I also have many anti scam tips if anyone wants them but primarily: nobody at your bank would need you present to commit id theft#and pulling out cash would do fuck all to stop it

#for context i have some regular customers who always come in and ask for rides#i never have the money to help them but i figured i probably could today#i offered to buy them an uber and thats what they originally asked for . just for me to get an uber for them#then he asked if i had cashapp. didnt ask if i could ALSO send some money . just asked if i had cash app#asked for 15 dollars i assumed hed use it to buy the uber. asked him to enter in his cashtag bc im a cashier and i was busy#he sneakily sent himself like 20 dollars instead of 15 but i was kinda like. whatever abt it#then he was like 'okay i just need an uber' like what? i thought thats what the money i was giving him was for but whatever!#i set my phone on the table and tell them to schedule themselves an uber#and i start getting a lot of customers in line and they like pick up my phone and take it and sent themselves another 20 dollars#i didnt even notice they sent themselves another 20 dollars because i was at work and couldnt check because i was busy#and then this morning i see they requested another 50 dollars and were like 'we need you please 🥺'#man i was offering to help and u guys fucking think im made of money or something meanwhile i have less than 100 dollars in my bank account#thats what i get for trying to be nice i guess. im a fucking idiot lol
