River looks at Rylan and presses his lips to a thin line, licking them afterward as he thinks about that question. He knew it would come eventually, he just didn't expect to be there. He sighed with a slight nervous cackle and nodded.

“Yes, I have. Terrified, however…” “I'm sorry I asked, but we were talking family... and it just, it will never feel right to ask. So.. why terrified?”

Rylan looks at River, the look on his face, the pressing of the lips telling him he probably shouldn't have asked. To try and at least make it feel a little better, he puts a hand on River's cheek, gently caressing it, knowing he is the one treading thin ice with this, much like River does when they talk about his anxiety. River looks at Rylan’s hand and takes his hand to his lips, kissing Rylan's hand gently.

“Yes, terrifying. I am scared, scared of how she'll react when she sees me. Scared she'll say I turned out like my dad, scared I'll scare her…”

he looks at Rylan, pressing his lips once more into a thin line

“From what she wrote in her letter, I think she will be happy to see you. Do you want to see her? I mean when you feel ready too, or at least a little more ready than being terrified? I just wanted you to know I will come with you, so you have someone to lean on like I always lean on you.”

Rylan smiles, moving their food aside so he can sit closer and put an arm around River, kissing him gently just wanting to show him he is there for him as much as he always is for him. River kissing him back, brushing his cheek with his thumb before he pulls back. 

“Yes, I'd like to see her, make sure she is alright, make sure she found her way. I know we didn't get along, but she always tried her best, for such a young mom she always tried her best and I wasn't exactly easy either...But first, let's go find that temple?” “Yep.. and I am going to have to buy you an indy hat at some point. I looked at the marketplace here, but they didn't have it.” 

Rylan winks and puts the food back in the bag, before stretching out a bit on the ground, the sun peeking down between the leaves, making it hard to guess how long they have been out. 

“You think I was right in my temple assumptions? I mean, the path to choose?  “You haven't failed me yet, so I'll go with your assumption. Shall we my princess?” “Yeah, we have a temple to explore! Let’s go see what we can find!”

Kamakhya Temple

Kamakhya Temple is a temple located in Guwahati in Assam. It is the temple of Mother Goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth on earth. Not only is it included in that list, but it is indeed one of the oldest one in that list. The temple is located in the range of Nilachal Hills and falls on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The river bank is dotted with many other temples of Maa Kamakhya. Kamakhya temple is a very important pilgrimage center for most of those. People from different parts of the country visit this temple at least once in their lifetime. That is why the prominence of the temple is increasing more and more.

History of the Temple:

The 1st record of the temple dates back to the 19th century. The archaeological evidence also states that the temple was built in the 19th century. The architecture of the temple resembles the other temples which were constructed during that time. The temple consists of: A Garbhagriha 3 Mandapas This is the most popular architecture of temples which were built during those times. This also provides a large space in the temple premises itself for the pilgrims to attend the prayers.

Getting there:

The nearest railway station is Guwahati which is 6 km away. It is easily connected by various trains. If you're coming by road, there are buses from Guwahati as well as other modes of road transportation. The nearest airport is Guwahati airport which is at a distance of 20 km. As you can see, it is well connected by different means of transport and therefore it is pretty easy to visit.

Kamakhya Temple Timings:

The temple is open from 5:30 AM in the morning all the way to 10 PM in the night. On special occassions or on days of religious importance, the timings of the temple are further extended. That is why you can easily visit the temple at the timing of your own convenience.
