Princess Kendra and Prince Seth were the heirs to a lovely kingdom—well, up until three days ago. With no available refuge after their kingdom gets sacked, the royal sorcerers and their companions try Terrabelle, their neighboring kingdom.

The target doesn’t fade from their backs, however—it only becomes hidden. With the curious Dalgorel children, who knows how long that façade will last?

If Kendra and Seth can’t brave their stay at Terrabelle, they may never regain their kingdom—or their grandparents.

Prologue

There was value in staying in the shadows. Seth knew this. Gleaning information and untangling motives was much easier when your subject didn’t notice you.

Rain slipped off his itchy coat as the city’s walls slowly solidified in the distance.

People always asked why he didn’t challenge his sister for the heir title. What a dumb question. First off, he loved his sister. Second of all, why would he ever want to relinquish his freedom and spend his life languishing in castle walls?

As it turns out, his languishing in a castle was about to happen anyway.

Meters away from the gates, the horses ground to a stop.

Moonlight glinted off his sister’s golden diadem as she removed her hood, letting raindrops seep into her hair. Seth surveyed the castle walls barring their entry. A lone sentry peeked through the gate tower.

The sentry had to shout over the thunder of the storm. “Who goes there?”

“Princess Kendra Sorenson, heir apparent of Fablehaven. Four of my associates join me.” Unlike the shouty sentry, her voice commanded the heavens without straining. “I request an audience with your king.”

Silence mingled with thunder as the sentry ducked out of view. Raindrops slipped off Seth’s hood as his horse shuffled in its step. “Steady, Noble.”

The sentry reappeared. “Where is King Stanley, Princess?”

“My grandfather’s whereabouts are not the concern of a sentry. Send for your king. It is urgent.”

“One moment, your grace.” With a flash of lighting, the sentry disappeared behind the tower.

Despite the disappearance of the guard, eyes were still watching. Seth could spot two peasants behind the gate, in the shadows of the lower town, spying on the royal court. He pulled his hood lower.

“Are you alright, Seth?” His valet shouted from behind him.

“Yes, thank you, Patton.”

The gates scraped against the muddy floor and revealed three men on horses. One lowered his hood, revealing a young man around Kendra’s age with a crown on his head. “Greetings, Princess Kendra. My name is Prince Garreth. I will escort you to the stables to leave your horses.”

“And then to your father, I presume?” Kendra pulled her hood back up, shielding the golden diadem from sight.

Lightning lit up the night—almost as bright as Prince Garreth’s smile. “Of course, my lady.”

The journey to the stables was fraught with security risks. He trusted Patton to always protect him of course, but the narrow road had forced the eight horses into a line. Rain and a weak crescent moon obscured the path. Thunder and the gossiping commotion of the common people peeking out their houses muffled any warning signal. Terrabelle was the most fortified destination, but it most certainly wasn’t the safest on the inside. Especially for certain people in their party.

As soon as the lanterns of the stable were in view, servants rushed forward to untack the horses. Seth leaned down to Noble’s ear. “Be a good horse.”

Mud sprayed from his boots’ impact to the ground. Patton joined him.

Sloshing, they made their way over to Kendra. Warren and Vanessa were already at her side.

Though their official titles don’t say it, the Head Chancellor and Kendra’s Lady-in-waiting all had trained as knights. Although Patton hadn’t, his time as an adventurer more than made up for it.

Garreth was already speaking by the time Seth took his spot next to Kendra. “—he’ll meet with you, Kendra, and our servants can lead your court to a common room for the night.”

“Actually, we’d all like to meet with King Dalgorel,” thunder paused Kendra. “We’re all seeking safe refuge.”

Garreth’s smile froze. “Of course. Anything for a lady as beautiful as you.” Seth almost snorted. “This way.”

The prince led them through the stables to a door that entered into the main castle. The walls were polished up to the high ceiling and decorated with flags and animal heads. There was no doubt in Seth’s mind that there was a shorter path to the throne room, but Garreth just wanted to lead them through the most impressive halls.

Water dripped from their wool coats onto the stone. Everyone’s hood was off now, revealing a silver crown upon Seth’s unruly hair.

“I admire your kingdom’s many conquests,” Kendra spoke to Garreth.

“Our kingdom is very powerful,” Garreth agreed. “You’ll be very lucky if the King grants you amnesty.”

The group stopped at an ornate door a mile high. Flickering firelight cast an ever-changing shadow over the door’s jewels and carved adornments.

Venom coated Kendra’s smile. “If?”

Garreth didn’t spare her a glance and pushed the door, splitting it in two. “Oh, look, we’re here.”

They had finally made it into the throne room.

Now, it was only a test of if they’d be allowed to stay.

Was inspired by Head- ache (Really like ur idea of a what if child was more alien soooo did my own for Silho)

Ok heres the story it will remain the same as my YouthLegacy Au but with a twist at around 3 years old Silhouette would be kidnap by egg mans robots when she and her brother where in the playground on their own since it was near by their home.

The reason they went for Silhouette was the fact she looked more like her father and showed early signs of having his ability's as well as Amys strength

In the YL AU She would be rescued by her father and mother... BUT In this AU they failed to rescue her in time and Egg man would disappear for 8 years.

During that time her family and friends spent years trying to find them to no avile

Many wondered if its possable that she is dead Shadow and Maroon knew that wasnt true they could sence her still they are just not sure where

Maroon would feel immense guilt for not being strong enough to protect his own sister and freezing up that day

So what happend to Silho during those 8 years?????

She would be experimented on. Once Egg man realized she was more flawed then expected seeing that she cant go long without food or water, she needs sleep, plus she can get sick meaning she is likely mortal.

So instead of-trying to steal Maroon thinking its probably not worth the risk, he desides to completly change silhouettes DNA to fit more into his vison of the ultimate life form.

It would eventually be a success using some of Black arms DNA he came across a while ago and all the painful tests she had to endure over the years has made her vengeful and angery towreds her family specifically her brother.

These test slowly and painfuly turned Silho little more alien like with gaining a thired eye and growing a tail and her blood becoming green.

During this phaze where she was slowly becoming more ailen like she would constaly grow very ill and weak seeing that her small body could not yet accpted this new DNA her body was basicly rejecting itself so egg man needed to work quickly if she was to survve more test. She would eventually become stabel and showeds signs of her new self being diffrent like now she dosent need to eat or drink much water, or sleep and she can no longer get sick.

But she felt resentment towreds her brother and her family .

For in her eyes they never even bothered to look for her and probly forgotten all about her. While her brother got to live a normal life she had to endore many test by force . Egg man feed into these feelings she has and told her lies to make her despised them even more.

After every test he would tell a lil lie about how her familys doing great with out her and having the time of their lives telling her they dont need her or care about her.

But he dose he says that he saw potential in her and that if they really cared they would have gone to save her ages ago

Her strenght was never an issue though she was quite powerful but egg man realizes she dosent have control of this streghts, so inturn but multapul inhibitor rings specifically made to limite her strength as well as her chaos enegy since now with the new DNA in her body amplify her chaos enegy.

On her 11 birthday she would finaly be allowed to leave on stealth missions for him.

These stealth missions later lead to rumers going around of a strange little girl causing trouble.

She never ran way and remans loyal to egg man for in her eyes though he did terrabel things to her she truly belives he's the only one who cares about her. plus she knows theres no going back to her old life and her oldself.

Where Adventures Lead

The warm sunlight dancing across Seth's skin felt nice as one of his long legs, the result of recent growth spurts, continued to rock the hammock in a gentle slow motion. His muscles protested the repetitive movement that it had been doing for well over an hour but Seth was unwilling to stop dispite his discomfort. Afraid that stopping would mean that the dark haired girl resting on his chest would awaken and leave. Truthfully , for probably the first time in his life, Seth was enjoying the calm silence. Eve looked gorgeous with her eyelashes splayed across her prominent cheek bones and her face the perfect picture of peace. the sunlight danced perfectly across her sleeping features making her look like an angel. If anyone had told him a few years ago that he would willingly be in this position begging for the moment to last forever, he would have laughed in their face and wished them luck in their search for therapy. But over the course of those few years things had happened that had changed him. Eve had happened.

After he regained his memories when he was at his lowest point, she was there. Correcting his self-doubt and loving him even when he thought himself unlovable. The months after the dragon war had been hard but she had been there to make it bearable. She would show up with a bright smile on her face an a new adventure to distract him from his thoughts. Or she would tell him, with a glint in her eyes, about a new prank she had thought up, the likes of which never ceased to put a smile on his face. Seth liked to tease his sister about how hard she had fallen for Bracken but truthfully, he had fallen for Eve just as hard. He fell for her quick wit and charm that sent his heart sputtering, her clever intelligence that never ceased to amaze him, and her adventurous spirit that fit his so perfectly. His Grandma Sorenson liked to joke that they were basically the same person while Grandpa Sorenson liked to joke that the two of the together were dangerous. But no matter how they joked Seth knew that his grandparents were the biggest meddling match makers of all. After the dragon war , Eve left Terrabelle to join the Knights of the Dawn alongside him, much to Lord Dalgorel's chagrin. Seriously Seth thought the dude would pop a vein when she told him. And the withering glares he sent his way made it clear who he blamed. Seth knew that it wasn't a coincidence that all of there missions just happened to be together and that her plate was always sat next to his when she stayed for dinner. He didn't miss his Grandmothers not so subtle hints and teasing nor how his Grandfathers old stories suddenly only consisted of meeting and whooing their wives. Even Bracken had tried to push the two together. He guess it had worked in the end, though he really wasn't sure what had given them that final nudge. It wasn't that either of them had ever doubted or denied the feelings, just that they had never really talked about it up until that point. Everyone was ecstatic when they found out, except maybe Lord Dalgorel who once again had looked like he was about to blow a gasket. Seth loved the support, not that he had expected anything else, though he could have done without the annoying dating tips and first date ideas Bracken had sure had a lot of those. In the end there first date hadn't been anything extravagant or overly romantic but at least in his opinion it had been perfect. A small sigh pulled him out of his thoughts, causing him to look down at the one occupying them. A smile spread across his face as Eve snuggled closer and he moved his hand from where it rested on her back to wipe away a small trail of drool coming from the corner of her mouth. He allowed his hand to linger on her cheek for a minute longer, enjoying the feeling of her soft skin between his callous finger tips, before he allowed himself to relax into the Hammock. His eyes fluttered shut a content dealing warming him from head to toe. Maybe he was going soft but this was definitely something he could get used to. ††††† And there you have it, my first attempt at Eveth. This ship is adorable and I love it!!!! I also love the idea of Eve saying forget neutrality and joint the Knights of the Dawn. I wrote this instead of sleeping so I apologize for any mistakes you may find. As always if you have something you would like to see next let me know and I will try to get it out there.

Seth’s POV

Last time Seth had been at Terrabelle he had promised to sneak Eve out, so that she could live her life how she wanted to, not how her father wanted her to, it was her life, not his. And it did help that Seth really liked spending time with her. Most girls he had talked to had been too different from him to actually like. He couldn’t talk to them about what he’d been through during the war. Eve knew about him losing his memory, he couldn’t tell other people about that because that would involve telling them about the magical world and he couldn’t do that.

Before he knew it Seth was at the mountain he had planned to climb, it’s not like he could go up the pathway, even with his shade walking it could possibly get him caught. Seth couldn’t risk anything going wrong, this had to work. Seth found the spot that looked like the easiest way up and started climbing. He only slipped a few times because he had gotten a lot better at climbing over the years. When he finally reached the top he crawled on his stomach so that he could get a good view of how he was going to get to the arranged meeting spot. Seth was not even going to try and sneak in the castle. Because he would most likely get caught, and why risk that when Eve was more than capable of getting out herself without any help from him.

Seth quietly slid down the slope as he started shade walking so nobody would see a fourteen-year-old boy sliding down a hill, in the middle of the night. Especially when he was also a human boy who was trespassing. When he reached the bottom Seth hit the ground without a sound. He crept his way closer to the town, where he could still he could see only a few lights still on.

As Seth got closer to the spot under a big tree he could feel himself getting more excited with every step. It had been a while since he had actually seen Eve and he couldn’t wait to see her, she was quickly becoming his best friend. Not that he was saying that Newel and Doren and the rest of the gang weren’t good friends it was just nice to talk to someone who was around his age, that wasn’t his sister. Well, Eve at least looked and acted his age but since the Fair Folk aged slowly she was probably twice his age. But that didn’t matter she was a magical being, of course, she was going to be somewhat different than him, it’s not something he thought about too often.

As the tree came into view he saw Eve already there, he decided to not reveal himself quite yet. Seth snuck up slowly and as he got right behind her he put his hand over her mouth the scare her a bit. But what Seth wasn’t expecting was for her to grab his arm and flip him over her shoulder and on to the ground. “That’s you don’t sneak up on me,” Eve said laughing quietly at the shock expression on Seth’s face. “You knew it was me?” Seth asked. “Who else would know I was here and if it wasn’t you, good thing I did flip you, just in case.” As Seth was about to stand up he found himself only to be knocked over again, but this time in a better way. Eve tackled him with a hug. Seth hugged her back, enjoying the lemon scent of her curly hair. Eve gave him one last tight squeeze before she lifted herself up to that she was hovering over him, looking down at him. “Sorry, it’s just has been a while since I last saw you in person instead of reading letters,” Eve said blushing slightly. “No, it’s fine, I get it. I missed you too,” Seth said smiling up at her.

Eve stood up and helped Seth up as well, both of them holding on to each other’s hand a little longer than necessary. “Um, so, how are you getting me out of here?” Eve asked “The same was I came in,” Seth said pointing up the hills that lead out of the valley. “Okay, let’s get going then,” Eve said, obviously excited. Seth smiled at her excitement, it was so nice to be able to show her what exploring could be like. Eve walked a little bit in front of Seth, looking over at her he noticed the way her blue eyes sparkled in the moonlight and the way her hair slightly moved in the breeze. “Ugh, hurry up Seth we don’t have all night! I want to be out of Terrabelle as long as possible before I have to come back,” Eve complained snapping him back to reality, “Okay, I’ll race you,” Seth said as he started running, “Hey we still need to be careful!” Eve said as she started running, Seth knew she could disguise herself using her powers if she needed to.

As they reached the top of the hill Eve looked up at the sky, “The sky is so pretty tonight,” Seth looked over at her and said “Yeah it is,” Eve looked over at him and Seth felt his face and ears get warm. “So, what do you have planned for the two hours that we have tonight?” Eve asked “Well I actually have something set up. In one of the protected areas of the preserve, I decided it was probably a good idea to play it safe tonight.” Seth said hoping that she would like what he had planned. “Sound good. Lead the way,” She said as they started climbing down the more mountain-like side of the hill.

Seth and Eve arrived in the small clearing where Seth had set up a hammock and Christmas lights. With the help of the satyrs, Warren and Bracken. All of them under the promise to not tell anyone especially Kendra, who was probably going to find out sooner than later, she always did. But until then Seth was just going to enjoy the time he had left before Kendra was able to enact her revenge for all the years Seth has teased her about Bracken. Not that Seth and Eve were like Kendra and Bracken, ew no, Eve was just a friend.

Eve gasped when she saw the set up “Wow, Seth this is amazing! How did you get electricity out here?” Eve asked “Oh you know just some handy unicorn magic, and a car battery,” Seth said scratching the back of his neck, a little nervous “and I have a laptop so we can watch anything you want, we can do anything you want really.” Seth said as Eve looked around, “Seth this is so nice. I was just hoping to yo hang out with you, or walk around, but this is more than I expected.”

Eve said sounding astonished. It made Seth happy to know this isn’t less than what she expected. “Seth this might not seem like a lot to you, but it truly means so much for someone to do something like this for me. You snuck me out of Terrabelle and set all this all up, it just means so much to get out of that castle,” Eve said “Oh, it’s really nothing, I’d do anything for you,” Seth said. Eve turned to him taking his hand and looking him in the eyes,” It’s not nothing Seth,” Eve said seriously. Then Seth found himself leaning closer to Eve and her doing the same...then a noise came from the woods and both of them jumped back from each other and Eve played with her hair as Seth scratch the back of his neck with one hand and put the one that had been holding Eve’s in his jeans pocket. “Um, how about a movie?” Eve asked. “Yeah totally let’s do it! And by ‘it’ i mean watch a movie because what else would we do?” Seth said very awkwardly.

“Yeah!” Eve said and they both walked over to the hammock to watch a movie.

Nothing else weird happened while Seth and Eve watch the movie. Everything was normal, they laughed and talked, they talked more than they actually watched the movie. When the movie was finished they had to rush a bit so that Eve wouldn’t get caught. When they reached their meet up spot under the big tree they both knew neither of them wanted to say goodbye, so they just stood there for a while trying to think of reasons they wouldn’t have to say goodbye. “Well, I guess I better go then,” Eve said. “Yeah, probably. Do you think we can do this again?” Seth asked hopefully, “Yes! Definitely I just don’t know when. We can’t do it too often but maybe I could figure out a way to get out with my Father’s permission, and I could just bump into you by chance. Also, it has been a while since you have actually come into the castle so maybe Father will let come.” Eve said as she used her foot to draw stuff in the dirt, “I would like to see you again before you go back to Fabelhaven, we don’t know how long it could be before you come back.” She said looking up at Seth. “Yeah, but if not I could always sneak through the barrel if I need to,” Seth said with a grin that said he was already planning how he was going to do it. Eve just sighed at that. “Yeah maybe, okay then I guess I should go then. Thank you, I had a great night and I’ll hopefully see you soon.” Eve said about to leave when she stopped and turned back around, put one hand on Seth’s shoulder and got up on her tiptoes, and kissed Seth on the cheek. “Goodnight Seth,” Eve said and walked away ‘Goodnight!” Seth called after her. It had taken a while for him to find the words to answer, he was so shocked by the kiss. Eve just looked back at him and smiled.

With a big smile on his face, Seth made his way back to the keep maybe girls aren’t as bad as he thought.
