Bendy and the Dark Revival Rant (negative and long)

Idk why I'm making this, maybe for just peace of mind and y'all can bash me in the comments if y'all want or tell me your own opinion if anyone actually reads this stupid thing. Warning I might be all over the place and this isn't scripted so expect foul language and emotion and unprofessional things.

So I'll like to start with that I'm a MASSIVE fan of Bendy and the Ink Machine and have since alpha chapter 1. That game is my childhood and what inspired me to take drawing more seriously.

The "Ink Demon"

So Bendy and the dark revival, literally disappeared and came back out of nowhere lol. I was actually excited and hyped as hell when it was first announced, glad to know Bendy wasn't forever dead (literally sobbed my eyes out when we killed him in chapter 5). But then nothing, no updates, no news, NOTHING, but I still had hope even when everyone was leaving. Then yay the game is here! But my stupidity and something I should have done was that I should have watched the trailer and someone play it to save my money. I got the game when it came out for the PlayStation and immediately played it going in there blind, even though I couldn't even see what I was playing 97% of the time due to it being too dark even with all the house lights off in the middle of the night it was fun at first! Then the fucking "ink demon" part came up, I was so damn excited to see him in better graphics only to have that THING show up. I had to do a double take to see if that was even the ink demon and to my disappointment it was, I'm not going to lie I don't see how people like it, to me it stripped him from all his creativity and made him into a basic ass demon to the point it's not even close to being Bendy related. I'm not gonna lie I did like the voice at first but later its so damn annoying! Like spit that shit out dude, there is no reason for you to do all that! Also how the programmed him is so lazy and annoying and broken "Oh no hide the ink demon is coming", now at first I was excited to have the chase of my life but NOOOOOOOOO, literally just tells you and you hope to God he decides to spawn in where he is supposed to because he will spawn when there isn't any hiding places. Oh and the hiding places are another annoying broken thing, when I'm trying to hide sometimes you have to look at it at a very specific angle and pray it works. Anyways, so at this point we saw little Bendy and ... The Thing, at this point we already know the "big reveal" was that little Bendy is that thing, like anyone should have seen that coming. ALRIGHT so the end, WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS THE ENDING?! Like why is it just the same ending to BATIM?! Also trying to control Beast Bendy was so damn annoying and wacked! Also what was even his motive? Why the hell did he need Audrey to turn into Beast Bendy? He didn't need it before why need it now? But literally everything gave me more questions then answers and you could have made a better ending than whatever the hell Meetly gave us.

Honestly there is so so much about Bendy and the Dark Revival that I absolutely despise but that would end up making a whole book if I continue so imma just complain on how they massacred my boi. Also if you like BATDR then that's great! I'm glad that people can enjoy things even tho I don't. It's just I feel like I'm going crazy because I don't see anyone else who doesn't like it. Also I didn't expect the game to be easy but it was just so unenjoyable, I was expecting to have the thrill of being chased down hallways and stairs, to fight searchers and the butcher gang, to see old characters that I love and adore only for it to have none of that and just becoming a headache and a broken mess. For someone (Me) who played BATIM over a hundred times to only play BATDR only 3 is just sad. Anyways thanks if anyone reads this, this was just something to help me.

ancelotti: man makes a lotta threats but hes true to his word. your day off? cancelled. playing time? nonexistent. whoever pisses him off is gonna get real comfy in their new home on the BENCH.

lampard: man lampard doesnt know WHATS going on. one a his players is acting up?? pulling some shit?? well damn this is the first hes heard of it. he cant truly get angry at people he barely keeps up with.

mourinho: when,,,??? isnt he angry?? whenever hes in a GOOD mood his players get concerned n make it their mission to find out whats up. when hes angry, which is often, the smallest thing sets him off. one day paulo took his parking spot, which prompted a three hour rendition of one of his RESPECT rants.

simeone: TOUGH love man. deep, DEEP, down he cares abt his players as much as the next manager but he'd rather die than show it. so he tends to punish his players VERY harshly when they act up but its cause he genuinely wants em to learn some discipline.

jesse: very civil lad. if hes angry at a player he doesnt let it get the better of him. he'll try to sit down n have a talk abt whats wrong. honestly, he loses his temper more often with the press than with his players.

Hi! I just wanted to engage in a discussion about Bubba Sawyer with someone lol. So I was thinking about how many people portray Bubba as insecure about his body and face, but honestly I think Bubba would be indifferent about it. Like his tall stature and all his muscle (even his squishiness since mass moves mass) help him protect his family. He most likely knows some don’t find his body attractive, but then again who cares because big strong boy can protect family and that’s all that matters to him. And as for his face, if we’re going by the original (which is my favorite portrayal of Leatherface), Tobe Hooper said that the whole point is there’s nothing behind the masks and that they’re just used for Bubba to express himself, so he’s most likely not disfigured and doesn’t wear them because he thinks he’s ugly or anything. I love the fics that describe the reader helping Bubba feel better about himself but just wanted to think about how realistic it is. Anyway, do you think Bubba is insecure about his looks, grateful his body helps him protect his family, or both? Sorry for the long rant lol

bro i soooo agree with this! i don’t think he even understands the concept of beauty standards (which is usually how those insecurities develop). it’s just something he really doesn’t think about. but if he did, he likely would be proud of how big and strong he is :) he probably does not have simply a positive or negative opinion, but just feels pretty neutral about himself.

in my opinion, he doesn’t think he’s ugly, but wears the masks as a form of expression because he has a hard time doing it in other ways — almost like how some folks, including myself, enjoy body modifications like tattoos/piercings as a form of self expression. i also HC that it’s a passion of his to craft the masks and that’s another reason he likes to wear them.

while i almost always agree with what tobe and gunnar have said about bubba, i honestly don’t think there’s “nothing” behind the masks, but rather (as i said before) he just has a hard time expressing himself in other ways and it’s a good outlet for him. i wholeheartedly believe he still has his own personality outside of the masks.

and yah, i don’t agree with the notion of him being disfigured either. that didn’t really come about until the 2003 remake, and it was kind of a cheap shot and totally threw away the mystery behind the masks :/

buttttt yes, i really can’t imagine him actually believing he is ugly unless maybe his brothers referred to him as such, because i know he really does care what his family thinks. i think that he understands some people are more attractive than others (at least in his own perception) but not really society’s opinion as a whole. basically, i don’t think he’s insecure about his looks or body because it’s just not something that often occurs to him.

like, i’m sure if his s/o said he was handsome, he would pretty much easily believe it and be happy about it :)

hey so who are your favourite characters in black butler? like a top ten or something

heyyyy thanks for asking! sure, always nice to cover the basics. ofc this will probably not be surprising to anyone who's heard me rant for a while now, but I'll explain it anyway.

top 3 first:

1. Ciel: an atrocious guy with very little social personality, and one of the best written protagonists I've personally read. I'm just really into digging through this guy's brain, and when he isn't destroying people he's doing things that end up being funny.

2. Sebastian: another well written protagonist, despite the fact that we know absolutely nothing about him other than the fact that his personality is "cats, I'm better than everyone, except for agni maybe". I remember in my first year in the fandom a friend and I had a like 2 hour long text conversation about how much we hated and loved Sebastian. terrible guy, couldn't have the series without him, leaves a lot to think about.

3. Grelle: she's just as if not more atrocious than the last 2 cause she made these awful decisions herself, but that doesn't stop me from respecting her work ethic and just thinking she's awesome in general. and aside from how cool she looks, I think her inner thoughts and relationships with her coworkers is so curious, there is a lot to explore here. compelling character for me.

4. Elizabeth: she's one of the purest characters out there and she is so complex. a good amount of people hate her or just find her annoying for whatever reason, but I think the trend here is that the more flawed the character is the better. she's trying so hard to please everyone. probably one of the most relatable characters in her own way.

5. Soma: the source of joy in my life, God I wish he was my friend. he and Agni are basically equal in my ranking, I think they're just the kid mentor duo, but unfortunately only one of them has the chance to keep developing... ;;;^;;;

6. Agni: "agni" was good every day of his life until the end. the only thing he did wrong was out of loyalty for Soma, Sebastian should be jealous of him cause he is all the butler that Sebastian will never be. plus he just cries sometimes and I respect that.

7. Ronald: this is such a fun guy, and yet I am capable of having long conversations about him and everything that he could have possibly been through, it has been done. his workplace dynamic is perfect. everyone needs a Ron.

8. Finny: another pure being, he's such an interesting and honestly rare character, I don't often see other people like him in media, so obviously he's interesting. he's one of the only characters in kuro who have deep trauma and yet doesn't act negatively on it, either because he's unable to comprehend it at length or because his love and positivity for all things is just stronger. also he's Ciel's big bro fr.

9. Meyrin: she's awesome, Hollywood and feminists alike wish they were able to write a strong female character like her😏 she's freakishly powerful and one of the most feminine people out there, and she deserves that after what she's been through. I will never stop supporting her, she's everyone's big sis and she's adorable.

10. Bard: proud dad to all the servants, he's the wacky beer uncle that we all wish we had. he's conservative but just give him some time cause he does care about people and what makes them happy.

ARIADNE (JENNIFER SAINT) REVIEW

NOTE: i found live blogging this book very fun actually! i also wanted to thank you all so much for not spoiling the ending despite the many rants, i’m glad i got to experience that for myself. i did skip some chunks of the phaedra/hippolytus part due to personal triggers so you won’t find much about that in this review. @a-chaotic-dumbass here it is<3

TL;DR: i definitely did like jennifer saint’s actual writing style, though there were some issues with the actual pacing of the story. despite there not being any major inaccuracies, the small things did add up and did annoy me. my biggest issue with this book however are the characters.

SPOILERS UNDERCUT

WRITING (7/10)

I genuinely loved Saint’s style! She is definitely a great writer. There was a perfect balance between simplicity and imagery; some nice quotes but no purple prose and most importantly no dramatic descriptions of feet, which i really enjoyed. I usually don’t enjoy multi-pov that much and it was a bit random getting Phaedra’s POV at times but Saint definitely knows how to give each of her characters a distinct voice, so I actually enjoyed it! I also very much like that she gave Phaedra what seemed to be PPD—it’s always great to get some good representation of such things. Despite what I say about the characters later on, they do all seem to experience some form of character arc which is always a good sign.

The pacing threw me off a little, partially because she tried to fit such a large and versatile myth into one book and partially because of the large chunks of exposition. I honestly skimmed over Theseus’ narration of his previous adventures… I understand that the story has to make sense to non-myth fans, but with her great writing I would have hoped she could’ve found a more elegant way to weave that in. Like I said, the cramming of such a huge myth into a single book resulted in her having to go extremely off-topic to finish story lines. It would’ve been better if done implicitly (e.g. the Icarus myth). Similarly, for about a hundred pages in the book, nothing happened. Different amounts of time passed in each POV chapter which was very confusing, but at the same time there isn’t much you can do about that. I was however disappointed when I got five years of Phaedra’s POV and then a single (bad) exposition chapter from Ariadne in a book that is literally named after her. Honestly, Part 3 was more Phaedra’s book than it was Ariadne’s.

I also wasn’t a huge fan of the 1st person but that’s just a personal nitpick. There were some off lines or some incongruities, but they weren’t too bad overall.

ACCURACY (5/10)

Story-wise, there no big inaccuracies other than the ending, which I absolutely hated, it was just so stupid and unnecessary. In fact, I’m not going to speak about it at all. The way she added the Phaedra and Theseus storyline (though not entirely accurate) was smart and helped story progression, so I’ll consider that a bonus point. The fact that they waited for Phaedra to turn 18 to marry is obviously for modern readers but I can appreciate that nonetheless. I definitely did enjoy the little sprinkles of myths here and there, especially the sentences that are literally just implications (e.g. a King holding up the sky for his people). Looking for those made reading really fun. The fact that she drew parallels made everything so much better. I can also appreciate the fact that she got the timeline correct, only referencing women that came before Ariadne and not after. She does however mention Theseus’ trip to the underworld, conveniently ignoring the fact that this happened long after the Minotaur fiasco (and that Theseus’ ass literally got ripped off). It just serves to make Theseus look bad, but more on that later.

The fact that Phaedra spent most of the book in Athens makes things tricky considering how misogynistic the polish is and none of the power she had there made sense. Reasonably, she wouldn’t be allowed to sit in a single council, let alone share her thoughts and much less conduct entire festivals with women from surrounding cities. Saint tries to point out how unlikely this is and considering it’s a feminist book, things like this are hard to leave out, so there isn’t much she can do. I just don’t like feminist retellings and I still think they don’t work.

I found it a little silly for the characters (who know nothing other than the greek mythology world) to be describing the myths to other characters, as well as Pasiphae translating Asterion’s name to Ariadne. Considering (ancient) Greek is her mother’s tongue, she would’ve probably known the word for star—it would’ve worked so much better if she’d drawn that connection for herself in her personal monologue. Similarly, she mentions a “foetus” at some point, which is a Latin word that came long after any of the described events. Simply saying ‘baby’ (the literal translation) would’ve made so much more sense, but alas.

The Medusa myth is obviously important to the story, especially given the ending (sigh). First of all, this was one of those instances with bad exposition. More importantly though, Saint uses Ovid’s iteration of the Medusa story which is a) misleading and b) also comes years after the events. I honestly love Ovid but using his version of the myth in a book that might very well be read by people that don’t know the original sets the wrong impression. On top of that, the original isn’t feminist at all. It’s anything but. Knowing that as a reader takes away the entire idea Saint was going for. I don’t even know what kind of symbolism Saint was going for by having Ariadne get petrified. All of this just to put Perseus in a bad light, which is unfair considering Perseus is probably the most humble hero there ever was.

This brings me to … Hera. I’m not even going to say much about because a) I don’t have the energy and b) this happens to her in every adaption so I’m not even surprised. You can find different antagonists for your feminist retellings than women, especially divine women, ESPECIALLY women who are victims in their own stories. Phaedra calls Artemis ‘cold and bloodless’ because she’s sworn an oath of chasitity, which … I get that you’re getting rejected but smells like aphobia to me? That just didn’t sit right with me. Life is not meaningless because you don’t love. Additionally, Phaedra goes on about how Artemis might have killed Ariadne for not remaining a virgin. There are a couple of things that annoy me about this such as a) if Artemis has this role in this world, why would Theseus suggest that Artemis killed her?? and b) Artemis was considered responsible for all unanswered female deaths! She doesn’t go around punishing girls that have extramarital sex! It’s simply not that big of a deal.

CHARACTERS (2/10)

Ariadne wasn’t too spectacular or memorable as a main character, but she didn’t really annoy me either. There were some moments where the plot or suspense of the story relied on her being completely stupid which had me screaming at the page. Most of this gets resolved through character developments and was actually set pretty well using foreshadowing e.g. the conversation with Theseus. The foreshadowing is there while also keeping Ariadne’s perspective in mind. Regarding the dancing… I made a huge fuss about it when live-blogging (i still find it funny don’t mind me) but now I actually like it? I was having a brain fart moment at the time and completely forgot her connection to Dionysos. It was really clever to introduce that from the beginning and I honestly wish that she had carried that on. I also wish her necklace would’ve gotten some more mentions, but it just got forgotten. It’s especially important considering Ariadne considered committing suicide with it.

I didn’t like the fact that Ariadne had no revolutionary thoughts whatsoever until Theseus shows up and then as soon as this hot hunk shows up, she’s all for killing her brother. The same brother she didn’t want to get locked up. Although there was some decent character development I did find her last choice to reason with Perseus a bit sudden. All of that just happened very fast.

Minos being a cruel and merciless ass doesn’t sit right with me anyway and the fact that Saint takes away his motivation to be that way (aka. his love and grief over his son) just makes it so much worse, I already said this in an ask, but she just shot herself in the foot with that. It would’ve made for such a great antagonist personality/motivation instead we have All Men Are Bad. She could’ve even made a point of him caring more for his dead son than his alive daughters!

As the number one Theseus hater, I would usually be the last person to defend him, but for some reason this portrayal felt really inauthentic. Personally, I don’t think Theseus was being malicious when leaving Ariadne behind, it’s just a thing he had to do. He’s not an evil mastermind, he’s just some shitty guy. This is all minor because I’m just suggesting a different type of evil, but I don’t know.

As for Dionysos… I honestly don’t know how I feel about him. Ariadne is way too subjective and unreliable for me to be able to make a proper assumption about him so I just won’t.

The only characters I really did enjoy from start to finish were Daedalus, Pasiphae and Deucalion, all of which barely got any screen time. In fact, my only complaint regarding Pasiphae is that I wished she had more screen time. I loved every moment I got to read about her.

This is super random but I am, to this day, very upset that Disney announced all these new and exciting things for Princess and the Frog - one of their titles that is SO amazing and underrated partly do to their absolute lack of current advertising and merchandising- almost three years ago and have delivered nothing. In fact, it is almost impossible to find any recent updates from Disney about it at all!

More of my rant can be found under the cut but tl;dr: I’m tired of Tiana and Princess and the Frog being pushed to the side by Disney over and over especially when she is such a special character to so many people ❤️

And circling back around to the whole merchandise thing real quick, I am not exaggerating when I say there is almost no Disney licensed Princess and the Frog merch. Very little compared to other titles. When I was in the parks (and this was a few years ago so It could have changed but I’m honestly doubtful) I genuinely couldn’t even find a pair of Tiana themed Mickey ears. You know who did have some? Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rapunzel, Bell, Elsa. Patf loungefy bags? Like 3. And I had to scour the internet to find them. I know recently there’s been a lot more cooking themed merch for Tiana in Epcot but again, that been very recent and while a spatula with her face on it is cute and on brand that doesn’t mean I don’t want a pair of ears. EARS! They don’t event have to be fancy! I can’t even get a mini backpack that looks like her dress like so many of the other princesses have? There aren’t even that many personal business who are making merch I could buy not aimed at little kids.

Disney really just released that movie and left it to die. Opportunities to meet Tiana at the park are much harder to come by than your other classics (although I will admit that they used her and Naveen a good amount in the shows they do on the castle steps last time I was there… which actually makes this make LESS SENSE to me!). And I get it, they are “classics” but patf is a classic to so many! It’s so odd that Disney didn’t try to capitalize on that fact that more people would probably be able to relate to Tiana more as a person who works hard in a capitalist society and is dead set on reaching her dreams through hard work. That’s more relatable than magic hair or talking rats and a fairy godmother that fix all your problems for you! And just to be clear again this is no hate to the other princesses like I understand that each has qualities that could easily make them someone’s favorite. Tangled is my second favorite Disney Princess movie! It just hurts to constantly see yours push aside time and time again.

Disney has been doing a much better job in recent years in terms of diversity but I am so tired of seeing Princess and the Frog (and other franchises featuring leads of color this rant is just patf specific as Tiana is the only Disney Princess I have ever been able to see myself in) being treated so poorly compared to others. I am very tired of this and frankly I don’t think it’s talked about enough (or AT ALL really) in Disney related spaces. Princess and the Frog and Tiana in general has never gotten the recognition it deserved. It will forever be my favorite movie and quite frankly, it never got the hype or recognition it deserved.

i've sent an ask before about self-diagnosed autism and whether or not it's valid (i would link it but i can't because i'm anon and i'm too socially anxious to reveal myself grrr). first of all thank you so much. i quite often reread it to remind myself im valid. <3

i have a follow-up question/kind of a rant. i have a friend who's diagnosed audhd, and she's the only neurodivergent person in my life who seems to think i'm not autistic (she thinks i'm neurodivergent though, but nothing applies well to me other than anxiety which idk if that's generally considered a mental illness or a neurodiversity??). it's so weird how she expresses this too, for example, saying i "have a lot of autism symptoms, but don't seem autistic" (i mask a LOT). and every time i vent about my autism symptoms and how they affect me, i literally swear i can see it click for her that i'm likely on the spectrum and she STILL chooses to invalidate me.

what makes it worse is that another person in my friend group self-diagnosed with autism and dx friend is so validating of him. which is good for self-dx, but it makes me upset that we receive different treatment from her despite both having the same symptoms and diagnosing with the same thing (which may be a selfish thought, i have no idea but i don't intend it to be). self-dx doesn't ever point this out, then dx and him act like they're the only autistic people in our friend group, and it gives very much a "you can't sit with us" vibe. therefore there's only two people in my friend group who i'm fully comfortable with talking to about my neurodiversity (and are now aware of this issue but don't really know how to help).

ig it's just starting to piss me off. every time i post about or even mention autism i hear dx's voice in the back of my mind telling me i'm not really autistic. do you have any ideas on how to handle this? i've been friends with this person since we were in kindergarten and she's a great friend besides this, so i don't wanna cut her out of my life or anything, but i really wanna call her out on this bs without making her feel bad or making her too upset.

Good evening. So I decided to tell you my opinion on HS as a whole. Well we should have stopped at the first one and the sequel lived solely due to pure unfiltered nostalgia and Vicky getting the facelift Kardashian style.

I love that despite our hate for HS2 or HS1 or all HS tbh. We all agree the LI's are the shit.

I think I love HS for the same reason many people liked Harry Potter. It spells "Wasted Potential" it spells "Infinite possibilities we could have explored if the author wasn't a coward-" . Like. I went for Mimi's route on both HS. I am not replaying this mess to see Severus Snape Albino Brother popping up again or the lord most annoying angel (that i had liked a bit in HS1 until a specific scene) or whatever the fuck Karen Haircut is up to(I don't hate her simply because I have experienced the Step-mother IRL. Just like her haircut. She is MID both in mother AND hater) I am not replaying this mess unless it's to count the plot holes.

Anyway. I do love HS and Mimi was the sole reason I even downloaded this app and kept it there. What saves HS is solely the LI's and nothing else.

I find most of the BLs quite cringy which is a big no for me. Usually I like the BLs you're watching (I've really loved KinnPorsche, Not me, Kisseki, A Tale of 1000 Stars, ...), but there have also been shows you really loved but I wasn't able to finish - main example being Love in the Air (i just wasn't able to get past episode 3).

Firstly, I must say, the bl's you listed that you enjoyed are superior. Well done on your immaculate taste. And the list you provided that you couldn't finish is also hilarious and accurate and I'm agreeing wholeheartedly on your opinions.

In terms of Two Worlds...I'm gonna be honest with you, I only started watching it for Max Kornthas. The man has a hold on me that I can't explain. So I may be slightly biased, however, that doesn't stop me from telling you that the show has surprised me in so many ways. I'm thoroughly enjoying it as a whole and hope more people watch it once it's finished. (Learning that it wasn't a domundi/mandee production also helped massively.)

Where it stands on a kp/notme level vs cutiepie/naughtybabe/pitbabe level, let me try and break it down for you:

Production level isn't quite kinnporsche WOW, but it's also not naughty babe cgi tiger TRAGEDY. It tips more on the kp side of production value. The locations are gorgeous, and the cinematography is pretty as hell. There are some dodgy camera tricks being used, but nothing to worry too much about.

The acting: As a whole I would say it's definitely better than your average thai bl. It's absolutely not Gun Attaphan level good. But I will say that Max is kinda killing it- and I'm not saying that from a particularly bias lens. His acting has improved an incredible amount since cutie pie/naughty babe. Nat, bless him, still has a little ways to go to really impress me, but he's also improved so fucking much I have to commend him. The guy playing the 2nd love interest is definitely the weakest actor of the bunch, but overall the acting is pretty good. No major complaints from me.

The narrative: I think this story in particular is incredibly interesting, it's unique, it's angsty, it's romantic, it's brutal, it's exciting, and a little bittersweet. The pacing can be a bit all over the place at times, but if you just go with it, you'll catch up quickly enough. The one major flaw for me in thai bls in general is that sometimes the story seems way more complicated then they actually are. This story really isn't that complicated if you don't think too hard about the details. Are there plotholes? Ofc there are. But it's nothing too glaringly obvious that I want to rant about it.

Another plus is that there is no quick-how-can-we-promote-this-thing-that-has-no-relevance-to-the-show product placement, which is something I only noticed two episodes ago but am highly grateful for.

The thai bl cringefactor: There are moments where I thought I would be cringing up a storm, but so far it's been pretty tame in terms of typical bl cringe moments. There's no guitars or singing (praying it stays that way), but we have had a few 'oops i tripped and fell into you and now we're staring into each other's eyes' moments, but honestly? They didn't bother me in the slightest. Maxnat pull off the elongated looks very well.

Spice level: We've only had one NC scene so far, it was definitely more on the romance side of the fence than the spicy one, but it lasted 7 minutes long...do with that information what you will. We've got more to come from both Maxnat and our side couple (who I'm also enjoying greatly, btw) Maxnat know how to fucking de-li-ver and from the looks of the trailer, our side couple also get a pretty steamy moment too.

The only potential downside to the show is the hefty trigger warning list. If you want to know them you can message or dm me and I'll make a separate list for you.

This response probably didn't need to be as long as it did, but I wanted to give you the facts. Do I think you should watch it? Yes. Do I think you'll like it? I think so. But is it to the standard of bl you seem to really enjoy? No. Do with this information what you will! I don't think Alarak romantically likes Vorazun. Not One Bit.

And this is a weird opening because the end of this rant partially has nothing to do with it.

So in the grand scheme of things, for starters, I know for a fact that, yeah, he was definitely flirting with her in that mission they were on together. Like, painfully so. It was painful. My Guy She Does Not Like You Calm Down.

(note that Vorazun Fucking Hates him, she moved to another section of the ship as soon as he was more permanently on board and GOD the way she speaks to him on that mission ranges from slight annoyance to incredulity like cmon, it's why I personally would never ship them, she shows No Interest, and it's not even in that "I hate you <3" type way, it's just No)

BUT the reason why I think that it wasn't particularly born from actually seeing her as a potential romantic partner is because, in the grand scheme of things, Alarak doesn't actually know how to connect with others on a deeper level.

Honestly, who could blame him, he's a Tal'darim, and Tal'darim spend their whole lives on a knife's edge. They CAN'T have deeper connections because a deeper connection could mean death. Feelings are a weakness, and from the way he interacts with Ma'lash, Nuroka and Ji'nara, the way that Tal'darim speak to each other, at least on the high end of the chain is like a chess match, and every word counts.

(so on top of this, I have this headcanon that Amon was partially influencing the emotions of the Tal'darim, keeping them from being able to form proper bonds so that they would be more compliant about the backstabbing and slaughtering and also so that the terrazine could be used to manipulate them better with the positive emotions it would give them. Propaganda and fearmongering would do the heavy lifting for the Tal'darim that the emotional blocking didn't quite work on and there we go. Alarak has been away from the rest of the Tal'darim for a while while he's on the Spear and I like the idea, personally, that the emotional manipulation wasn't working so well thanks to distance and active defiance, which is why he would get confused about those particular emotions he ends up experiencing, but even without this headcanon, the difference in dynamic in terms of how he interacts with people may throw him for a loop too)

When he's on the Spear around Artanis and the rest of them, he talks too much. This is ESPECIALLY with Artanis. The way that they interact in particular was very much "Artanis would like to be out of this conversation, shush, stop talking" and then he WOULDN'T. It only happened a couple of times, but I felt it hard. I kind of feel as a whole that he's very much the outcast of that whole group which, yeah, that's most likely intended, his views differ MASSIVELY from the others.

The other part of this is that I think that he really respects Vorazun. The way he speaks to her vs Artanis is like night an day. In their first encounter, his voice is far more gentle than any other time in-game, and I have only ever heard him refer to her as "Matriarch" (apart from in a voiceline in co-op where he expressly addresses her by name, but I haven't heard it outside of looking through the files so I don't know if it's used). And obviously this is partially to get her to listen to him, but even later when he's trying to get Artanis to do the same, he's never so respectful.

But this is all just a precursor to say that because of this apparent social ineptitude, a mixture of possibly newer emotions, and the respect he seems to have for Vorazun, I think that he may have confused respect for infatuation and tried to act on it as such.

Like at the very end of that mission, she's actually marginally impressed and then he ruins it by bragging which... God, What A Dork (affectionate). But the way that he brags to Artanis and Vorazun in general also seems oddly like attention seeking, at least in my eyes. There's this dynamic of wanting to prove he's strong vs wanting to make sure that he made the right decision in going for help from them (or you know, striking a bargain. It's not asking for help if you have something to give in return I prommy) by constantly poking Artanis in particular. It's something that I don't see in Ascension with Tal'darim-only interactions, or even in interactions in Heroes of the Storm. When he speaks with Nuroka, when he speaks with Ji'nara, there is no bragging, it's all mostly regular conversation. With Nuroka he's even, at least partially, admitting that there are things he can't do. It's only when he's matched up against Ma'lash with Artanis' army at his back that he starts bragging again.

Basically mans has a lot of trouble interacting with protoss who don't immediately want to kill him and that leads to him thinking that flirting with Vorazun is a Good Idea even though she hates him. There's no real romantic feeling involved in my interpretation.

Hello everyone! Here is TopHat_Cy with probably the last Tumblr post of this year. Since 2023 is coming to a close, I'll just put down a little summary of the experiences I had this year. Let's get started ^v^ ✨💗!

To be honest here, 2023 was pretty rough, and I'm not talking about that I had the baccalaureate in June, oh no. I was honestly waiting for that time so I can just do myself after that, right after I supported 4 years in that hellpit people called it high-school (or pedagogic college...whatever 🙄), just to get like over 3 months later on a worse hellpit called college, where all my personal issues has awakened...and felt horrible and lonelier like I've never been.

Despite being in overall horrible, high-school was great because mostly because I wasn't feeling the loneliness and self misery I feel now. Now that I'm at college I get almost hit daily by the fact that 1) I'm lonely and I'll always remain lonely (since who tf wants a little antisocial freak who literally draws all day lmao??) 2) I'm worthless, mostly because my French skills (at least) suck, and a good amount of my marks suck as well in comparison with other students (and honestly I wouldn't be bothered that much about this fact if it wasn't for my mom who haves the great habit to remind me by times to make sure I take big marks only to get the scholarship, hahahaha shut up bitch), which guess what, it makes me feel ✨horrible✨, and 3) Your life is a pure lie. This is sooooooooooo great isn't it :D ??!

I realized within my current college experience that I'm lonely not only in society, but with my own mom. I realized I'm even more of a worst daughter than I ever thought...I realized that I'm getting more horrible as the time goes by, or at least this is how I feel. I feel like losing myself slowly, becoming into nothing but a setinent shell of the former self. With those realizations, I'm getting hit in the face once again by the most saddest fact that I've encountered so far in my life but I always tend to forget it to make myself feel better (but you know how life is...it needs to offer you some lemons in the eyes 👁️👁️)...

...the fact that my life is nothing but a pure LIE.

But hey! Can we look into the bright side of what this year offered for some hot minutes?? It's not all black and misery! I had part of wonderful and fun times with my boyfriend (we did Whiteboards and rambled about our silly stuff like two neurodivergents that we are 😁✨), I had part of several fanart moments from people, I had Art Fight (yeaaaaah, our old pal Art Fight, which kinda started to become a pain in the ass every year when I have to bring my REFs up to date for this event...mmmmmmm 😊/pure af hot sarcasm, but honestly here, do I really care :D ???), I even joined my first Original Characters Tournament, Ressurection, in which I met wonderful people which appreciate my skills and also willing to help and support. And most importantly, I had YOU! All of you! If it wasn't for you guys, I definitely wouldn't been here, sharing this thoughts with YOU. And I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, once again ❤️!

As a mini conclusion to all of this speech, I'll admit that this year was still decent so far, with all it's ups and downs, along with the fact that I'm returning myself at being genderfluid (hence the Pic at the very beginning of the post lmao :')) )

The latest events from this year at least made me think that being feminine related makes me feel worthless about myself, and I don't want to feel like that anymore. I want to be strong at its full and I want to feel and be free with who I am. I'm not the most social person, yes. I'm far off from being a great daughter, yes of course, and I'm definitely far from being the best person out alive, or at least a great one. But at least I want to do something about it, so I can have the right to say that I tried my best for real.

So, that's it. I'm genderfluid. I go by he/they/cee from now on (although cee/ceer pronouns are most likely optional, like if you want to use them, go ahead, although I'll still be ok if you used the he/they ones, just don't refer to me with she/her or any fem aligned pronouns).

Just like everyone else, I have prepared some future plans for the next year and which I'd like to share with you. Here they are!

I want to make EITHER an OCT or a world-building RP server somewhere around February-March or later (I would've done it sooner, but I have to prepare for the exam session in January). The OCT thing may take a while though since I want it to be good, so this plan might get extended for 2025 as well. As for the world-building RP thing, with some effort, it could be done next year.

Returning on developing some miscellaneous projects - those being Insanity AU and a somewhat game-like concept that my boyfriend made plans about it in this year and which I'd like to develop on. Insanity AU is a thing that I've made with dustyisegg back in 2022 but discontinued it for 9 months due to [DATA EXPUNGED] and resumed it's development, by remaking the characters and their plot entirely. (Dusty if you see this tell me if you still want to work on this, yeah yeah I'm a huge procrastinator lawl 👾✨)

JToH, JToH, JToH projects - my dear and beloved JToH...(I've been in this Fandom for almost 3 years...more than I've been in the Doll Eye one, can you believe that?). Most of those projects will consist on simply designing new towerhumans, respectively redesigning the old ones. Along with that I have a comic project which I will start making it's script soon enough, other side projects that I have in my mind...and JToHVerse, which I don't know when it's that going to be started (earliest date will apparently be around 2025, but let's see how the comic project goes 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Putting some content in Toyhouse - a thing that I should worry about eventually ;v;

I'm going to assure you with two things before I finish. First of them is that, again I think, I'm fine. I'm not upset or anything. I had hard times like everyone else (maybe) this year and I had to left it out somehow. But in rest everything is alright, so don't worry about me. I will keep existing for you and for what I love ^v^.

The second thing that I will say is about this blog. Starting with January 1st, I do not allow anyone below the age of 15 to interact. I have an age now, and at this point I want to entertain people, not to babysit them. So don't get upset if you possibly get blocked, that would be one of the reasons (I hope to remember to unblock you after you get the age hhgjgjfjf 😅)

obviously im a #catradora4life but honestly i find exploring catrapta and scorptra, kinda season one vibes, fun so catra can have some of that fun too, as a treat. for catra and entrapta, i see it as a fuckbuddys thing where they're just having fun and entrapta's lowkey testing out what her sex toys can do when used collaboratively LOL. catra has absolutely said "are you seriously running an experiment while we're in bed?" and entrapta just blinked at her, uncomprehending, because like... of course she is? how is catra just realizing this now?

XD she's not put off by it, even if she has a crush on catra and wishes they were actually seeing each other. scorpia has a better handle in this on the fact that catra isn't interested in a relationship than she did in, say, Beg For Me. obviously she wants more, but she's not deluding herself that they're more right now. that's helped along by the catra and entrapta thing for sure tho LOL

i like a lot of different headcanons for entrapta, though i lean towards "robotfucker" for her usually because like. she fucked that spaceship lmao. but for this fic, i get to have a little treat and she's aromantic (which is part of why adora said she's not worried about entrapta "replacing" her because she assumed it was just sex), so her thing with catra works out really well. Entrapta doesn't care about finding someone to have sex with when her toy collection is as robust as it is, but when something wanders into her life like catra did, it works out for her.

(sidenote, adora found out entrapta is aromantic because she was going on a rant about catra when they were working on Swift Wind together and entrapta made a comment about being glad she won't have to makes sense of something like this for herself because she finds their relationship tangle confusing which like, dont worry everybody aside from them does too LOL)

we get no more of the inimitable gabriel and his tragic and mysterious back story. no more atrocious yet intriguing mercury. no more discovery for nathan and marcus's relationship. no more growth for annalise. no more fantastical but still very much real and gritty queer romance or angst or the deliciously raw gore or silly, lovely fun of tbsatdh's very specific and very special variety. no more more for nabrielise; such a wonderful and important potential poly ship that was written organically—quite beautifully, really—and airing on a fairly accessible (these days, for a lot of people) TV show, especially one generally aimed at young adult viewers.

it was given 42 days before being axed, despite rave reviews left, right and centre, just one example being a 93% rating on rotten tomatoes 🍅 like. COME ON?!

netflix seem to have become this savage and cruel master that cracks its cancellation whip, mostly at decent LGBTQAI+ content which—ugh. don't even get me started on that shit. and i've just. seriously lost my fucking patience with the massive arseholes in charge of programming.

But. Yes. Yeah. Yokoyama's absolute certainty in saying that??? Without anything to even buffer it? No maybe. No "don't expect too much." Just point-blank in front of a huge fan (whom I believe he's now going to be working with), a staff member, and a massive audience. As if that part isn't the matter of contention. I WILL be injecting those words directly into my veins for some time.

I was on the verge of choking and/or spewing blood and/or crying before posting it though lol, so I really appreciate the vote of confidence regarding the translation and I love your redraw! The reception as a whole has been really nice, although I wish people would keep it to themselves if they'd rather have Nishiki or Ryuji back or whatever. Not like it's a race, but even if it was, Mine's been in last place for ages lol.

And while I enjoy Y3's writing more than most, Mine's death wasn't some Grand Meaningful Statement, it was the decision of a fledgling studio that never knew if it would be able to keep making these games trying to tell a self-contained story. It did have far-reaching consequences for the series, but those consequences are also... not really relevant anymore?

Like, I can and have argued that Mine's death caused the fall of the Tojo Clan, but the clan has already fallen. So I don't see why some people are acting like revisiting his character would be A Spit In The Face to the saga somehow, but I guess I've never really been against characters being brought back...? A quote from the staff that's always stuck with me from the staff is that RGG is always going for RGG-ism, not realism.

Ranting aside... I honestly don't know if I should be saying this, but there's this new guy working the counter at Survive in some LaD8 behind the scenes footage. Now, upfront, I'm 99.8% sure it's not Mine (I happen to have a 100% accuracy rate so far identifying major RGG characters from extremely blurry images and silhouettes lmao), and I have no idea who it is, whether it's a new character or an old one heavily redesigned or Just Some Guy.

But he's not Kashiwagi. And he happens to have slicked-back dark brown hair with what appears to be an ahoge in some angles. And, unless the materials are temporary, he also dresses A Lot Like the celebrity Mine's design was based on. And his features... line up closely enough to piss me off, even though they don't fully match in the end, which is why I don't think it's him.

I'm in argumentative essay mode 100% of the time which is why I'm saying this in a "convincing" tone despite literally not believing it myself, but like... wouldn't that be something? To just have Mine part-timing at Survive or whatever and no one makes a big deal of it because they don't know any better? If nothing else, I really do think he should get The Bartender Treatment.

If Yokoyama had any remaining hesitance about Mine being alive, then he REALLY would have fumbled by sounding so certain. Like in his old tweet, he certainly sounded more ambiguous, but this time he really had no extra notes and sounded more sure of himself. I won't expect RGG to do anything with Mine, but the concept is still very much exciting and the idea that Yokoyama almost seems earnest about the idea of bringing Mine back for whatever reason is very nice to know :] And thank you about enjoying the art I did! I can't lie in the slightest, since the last ask where you alluded to posting the clip, I had that drawing saved in the back of my head ready to make once you had that posted LMAO

But oohh not to touch drama since I generally try to Not touch it, but yeah I can't act like I haven't seen some people be. ""Interesting"" about the idea of Mine being alive. I won't dive too deep into it, but I think my major issue with the few grievances I've seen is that RGG hasn't done anything with Mine's alive status. As of right now, it's just a thing Yokoyama said, so I don't understand the need to be so angry about it (it's especially weird to say Ryuji hasn't been back when he not only got to be a playable protagonist in Dead Souls, but he was also the protagonist of RGGO- though I suppose I can understand wanting him in the mainline series again. Still, it's weird to act as though Mine's back any more than he is and being upset about it just because Yokoyama said he was alive)...

Moving on though, I'm really curious as to this 'mystery figure' you mean. I've been missing out on LaD8 production material, so I haven't seen this bit myself but I'd love to take a stab at it and analyze myself too. I agree though: if Mine does come back- whether he's working at Survive or anywhere else- I would greatly prefer if he had The Bartender status and was just never really called attention to and only existed in the background
