THIS SHOW
Tumblr media
Can we talk about how they are literally not wasting a single frame in the storytelling? It's short, but so damn effective.
I've talked before about how this is not just a story about individuals, but about existing within a fucked up system.
It's about how we get accustomed to terrible treatment, because we exist in a space where everyone sees it as normal.
Tumblr media
And those who realize it's not normal, those who try to push back, don't tend to last.
Tumblr media
But once they're gone, we realize how much they (and their ability to see the truth) were protecting us from things being the absolute worst.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How our acceptance of this kind of life and workplace perpetuates the cycle for the new people as they come in.
Tumblr media
And though we think we are only martyring ourselves, it results in the sacrifice of others. Because in our choices for ourselves, we are helping to feed them to the machine.
Tumblr media
But it's still so hard to walk away, because you become so numb to it all. Until you are sure that parts of you are permanently broken.
Tumblr media
And you also know that these systems are everywhere, they are our society, so who's to say you could ever find anything better?
It's the slow crushing of the soul, that makes you feel like it all could just be so futile.
Which is why what Kai is doing is so brilliant here.
Tumblr media
He's not denying the reality of the world they exist in. He's not being pushy or angry about Hiro's choices.
Instead Kai is utilizing temptation, showing that there are things, some of them quite simple, that can bring joy. That can break through the futility.
Tumblr media
That prove that you can still feel.
Tumblr media
But you have to choose them. Because like all things in this life, they are ephemeral.
Tumblr media
The systems might not go anywhere in our lifetimes, but that doesn't mean the choices we make don't matter. For ourselves - and for those who see us do it.

my sister is telling my dad the story of last night and they are hard core both sidesing it. "well, you know, she doesn't take apologies well..." 1. that's her fucking problem not mine. 2. that doesn't have any fucking bearing on the two and a half hours straight of transphobic talk. 3. not taking an apology well is one thing, telling someone they're "lucky" you're not assaulting them when they say they're sorry for being a bit rude is actually a totally different thing LOL!

nailing my theses to the door: the way hua cheng acts about xie lian is precisely how those carefully non-toxic insane kpop stans behave. like “i love them and support them no matter what” and “let’s respect their boundaries” and “let’s raise a ridiculous amount of money for charity in their name” but also “every inch of my bedroom walls are plastered with their face” and “i spend hours every day getting into arguments online defending them against haters” and “i collected all 700 of their album photocards” and “i have them blocked on twitter so they can’t see my smut fics” and most importantly “if they end up dating someone i’d be devastated, but as long as they’re happy id support them no matter what”

the way some people talk/post about their therapists oh my god. like i know many of them are probably exaggerating their stories, and a lot of technically """unethical""" stuff can be perfectly fine in the right context, but im sure there are still a lot of people who think being friends with your therapist is normal or okay or in any way helpful. and tbh seeing enough posts that reinforce that impression might just prevent someone from recognizing a boundary violation when it happens to them

"Everyone on Twitter and Instagram knows about Zot3f’s perversions " Not true. Zot3 criticized people for touching Harry while all the louies here drool over watching teenagers grope Louis and sticking fingers in his mouth with that "makes me feel like a god" look on his face.
… I’m not entirely sure where you got that quote from, anon, but it wasn’t from me.
I couldn’t care any less about what happens at other shows (or be well-informed enough to comment), but I think you’ll find there’s been heavy criticism of the people that take things too far at barricade at Louis’ performances. Maybe refresh your dash or cultivate who you’re following?
And perhaps critiquing Louis himself when you’re really trying to criticise fan behaviours isn’t the best way to say what you really mean.

Strategies for Effective Cross-Cultural Leadership.
In today’s interconnected and globalized business environment, cross-cultural leadership has become increasingly important. As companies expand their operations across borders and cultures, leaders must navigate a diverse array of, values, and communication styles. While diversity can bring valuable perspectives and insights to the table, it also presents unique challenges that require careful consideration and adept leadership. In this article, we’ll explore some of the key challenges of cross-cultural leadership and strategies for effectively navigating cultural differences in the workplace.
Tumblr media
Understanding Cultural Differences: One of the first challenges of cross-cultural leadership is understanding and appreciating the diversity of cultural perspectives and practices. Cultures vary widely in terms of communication styles, decision-making processes, attitudes toward authority, and approaches to conflict resolution. What may be considered appropriate or effective in one culture may be perceived very differently in another. For example, while direct communication may be valued in some cultures, others may prefer more indirect and diplomatic communication styles.
Navigating Communication Barriers: Communication barriers are another significant challenge of cross-cultural leadership. Language differences, cultural nuances, and nonverbal cues can all impact the effectiveness of communication across cultures. Misunderstandings and misinterpretations are common when communication styles clash, leading to confusion, frustration, and breakdowns in collaboration. Leaders must be sensitive to these differences and adapt their communication style to accommodate the needs and preferences of diverse team members.
Managing Conflicting Values and Beliefs: Cultural differences in values, beliefs, and work ethics can also pose challenges for cross-cultural leaders. For example, attitudes toward hierarchy, individualism versus collectivism, and the importance of work-life balance can vary widely across cultures. These differences can lead to conflicts and tensions within multicultural teams, as team members may have different priorities and expectations. Effective leaders must be skilled at managing these conflicts, fostering mutual respect, and finding common ground that aligns with the organization’s goals and values.
Building Trust and Collaboration: Building trust and collaboration across cultural boundaries is essential for effective cross-cultural leadership. Trust is the foundation of successful teamwork, and it takes time to develop, especially in multicultural settings where cultural differences may breed skepticism or uncertainty. Leaders must invest time and effort in building relationships, demonstrating empathy, and fostering open and transparent communication to build trust and promote collaboration among team members.
Addressing Unconscious Bias: Unconscious bias is another challenge that cross-cultural leaders must address. Everyone has unconscious biases based on their cultural upbringing, experiences, and societal influences, which can impact their perceptions and decision-making processes. These biases can manifest in subtle ways, such as favoritism toward individuals from one’s own culture or assumptions about others’ abilities based on stereotypes. Leaders must be vigilant about recognizing and addressing their own biases and creating an inclusive and equitable work environment where all team members feel valued and respected.
Strategies for Effective Cross-Cultural Leadership
Despite the challenges, there are several strategies that cross-cultural leaders can employ to navigate cultural differences and lead effectively in diverse environments:
Cultivate Cultural Intelligence: Cultural intelligence, or the ability to understand and adapt to different cultural contexts, is essential for cross-cultural leadership. Leaders should invest in developing their cultural awareness, sensitivity, and empathy to effectively engage with diverse team members and stakeholders.
Foster Inclusive Leadership: Inclusive leadership involves valuing and leveraging diversity, creating a sense of belonging, and promoting equitable opportunities for all team members. Leaders should actively seek input from diverse perspectives, challenge assumptions, and create a culture of inclusion where everyone feels valued and respected.
Adapt Communication Styles: Effective communication is key to bridging cultural differences. Leaders should adapt their communication style to accommodate the needs and preferences of diverse team members, using clear and concise language, active listening, and nonverbal cues to enhance understanding and collaboration.
Lead by Example: Leaders must model inclusive behaviors and cultural competence in their actions and decisions. By demonstrating openness, respect, and curiosity toward different cultures, leaders can set the tone for inclusive and collaborative teamwork across cultural boundaries.
Provide Cultural Sensitivity Training: Organizations can support cross-cultural leadership by providing cultural sensitivity training and resources for leaders and employees. These programs can help raise awareness of cultural differences, promote empathy and understanding, and equip team members with the skills and knowledge they need to work effectively in multicultural environments.
Seek Feedback and Reflection: Cross-cultural leaders should actively seek feedback from team members and stakeholders to understand their perspectives and experiences. Reflecting on one’s own cultural biases and assumptions can help leaders identify areas for growth and development and enhance their effectiveness in leading diverse teams.
In conclusion, cross-cultural leadership presents unique challenges and opportunities in today’s globalized world. By understanding and appreciating cultural differences, adapting communication styles, fostering trust and collaboration, and promoting inclusive leadership practices, leaders can effectively navigate cultural boundaries and lead diverse teams to success.

As an autistic person, the implications of "if they really cared I wouldn't have to say it" culture are really scary. Because I want to know what hurts your feelings, what crosses your boundaries, where the line between teasing and being mean is at for you, what you need, and how to make you feel loved. And the implication that if my disability makes me unable to figure out these things through intuition alone, then I'm just not worth having around, is genuinely heartbreaking

I've seen some folks saying that the reference to The Great Gatsby in TBOB was just a joke Alex didn't put deeper meaning into—which might be true, IDK the man's motives for choosing Gatsby specifically—and that there's no way the book has any deeper relevance to Bill's character beyond the eye doctor thing—which is totally wrong. Whether or not Alex intended parallels, there ARE parallels. So, for those of you who didn't read or didn't pay attention to The Great Gatsby:
the book's about a guy who started out as an unimportant loser with starry-eyed dreams, who very quickly gained a lot of power/gold and now presents himself as this dapper fancy well-dressed super important guy.
He constantly throws huge parties, he's got a reputation for being THE party host. But it's a sham, he's pouring all these resources into this party to make himself look so cool but he's living at the very edge of his means.
He lies about his history, lies about how he got his money (spoilers: he's a criminal), lies even in how he presents his personality—he's a con artist, he's always wearing a mask.
The reason he's doing all this—putting on the mask, making himself look so great—is because he's trying to reach across this very thin boundary to a better life he can see, JUST out of reach, so close but something he's never quite clever enough and rich enough and persuasive enough to reach. Every night at his parties he stares at his goal, he can LITERALLY SEE it, he just can't reach it himself.
The best he can do is briefly charm and dazzle someone on the other side of this social boundary, but he can never quite persuade that person to help him cross over; in fact no one on the other side of the boundary thinks he has a right to cross it.
He finds somebody—the guy narrating the book about him—who's very lonely, socially awkward, and disillusioned, whom he can easily awe with his stories and persuade to help him reach his goal, come on please, it'll be harmless! (It is not harmless.)
He loses control over the act he's putting on and over the people who only follow him around as long as he's still got the resources to keep them entertained and loyal.
It ends with him getting murdered by a guy he has LITERALLY never met before—by which point everyone has realized that he's a nobody making it all up as he goes along who was just desperately chasing the illusion of a good life and the admiration of everyone around him.
The narrator ends up disillusioned with him and the whole culture around him of grasping and clawing for a glitzy glamorous life at the expense of the regular people who are manipulated, trampled, and discarded in the process.
Now tell me that Gatsby doesn't have any parallels to Bill's character. And this is just based off reading the book a decade ago—there's probably tons of little details I don't even remember. The book may well have been chosen as a coincidence, it did recently hit the public domain. But if so, it's a VERY GOOD coincidence.

simply being horny about people is not boundary-crossing or sex pest behavior, but also feeling guilty about it doesn't mean you're infantile or sheltered or puritanical or whatever. we live in a culture that is very weird about sex, simultaneously telling people that sexual desire is wrong while also being abysmal about normalizing crossing sexual boundaries, so I deeply sympathize if you struggle with feeling like you're doing something wrong if you fantasize about real people. it is, however, sex pest behavior to ask random people without prompting if you have their "consent" to fantasize about them or use their photos as masturbation material. do not fucking do that.

💗🍰BECOMING SELFISH IS THE BEST THING I DID💗🍰
Tumblr media
This post is my notes of thewizardliz video of the same topic as this post . I always tend to lose the notes I make 😑, so I thought that I should make a post on this ( lol )
💗STOP ARGUING WITH PEOPLE WHO AREN'T WILLING TO LISTEN
If the boundaries were crossed, the conversation is over . They aren't worth your time or energy.
🍰START PRIORITIZING YOUR OWN NEEDS & WANTS
" Whatever I want , goes first ". Fill your own cup first, Are you whole ? Are you okay ?
💗STOP BEING ALWAYS AVAILABLE & TRYING TO SAVE EVERYONE
You cannot save everyone. To be honest , you cannot same anyone . If a person does not want to change , if a person doesn't want to be saved, you will not save anyone & just end up losing your energy.
🍰SOMETIMES YOU HELPING IS ACTUALLY SABOTAGING GOD'S PLAN
People get certain problems or situations in their life because God gives them , it's for them to go through. So they can become wiser & fulfill their life purpose. If someone is stepping in & trying to be their savior , they are sabotaging God's plan & blocking their own blessings.
💗START BEING OKAY WITH PEOPLE MISUNDERSTANDING YOU
They don't have to understand you. It's very reasonable they don't understand you , people have come from different countries , culture, environment. They don't have the same mindset or heart as you. You cannot make them understand you because they aren't you. If you constantly go through life thinking everybody has the same heart as you , you will be hurt . People are different. Let them be.
🍰REALISE THAT YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE YOURSELF
Humans love comfort. In order to change, it requires alot of courage , strength & discomfort. If you are constantly putting your energy trying to change people , to become their best version. You are wasting your energy that you can use to become your best version. Lead by example .
💗STOP NEEDING PEOPLE TO VALIDATE YOUR SELF WORTH
You don't need anyone to tell you how good , smart or beautiful you are , if you already see those qualities in yourself. If you only feel that you are a good person when someone else tells you that you are a good person, if you need validation from other people , then you are just a slave of other people because their opinion can change your reality. When you are the one who always creates their own reality. You have to be strong in your own self , tell yourself how amazing you are.
🍰TALK TO YOURSELF , TAKE YOURSELF ON A DATE , HUG YOURSELF , COMPLIMENT YOURSELF
Say in the mirror how amazing you are to yourself.
💗LESS CHASING MORE ATTRACTING
Tune in with your feminine energy . Be relaxed, just do what is good for you & your body. Become open to receiving to your blessings & manifestations. If you aren't desperately chasing after things , then you are really whole.
🍰ONLY ADDING GREAT PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE
Allow people who add value in your life. Do they make you happy ? Is it a both way thing ?.
💗STOP SEEKING PEOPLE'S PERMISSION TO DO WHAT YOU WANT.
You don't need anyone's permission to do what is good for yourself. You know yourself well enough. " I know I can do it & I will do it " . Others opinions should be irrelevant to you , how cocky people can be to think that they know you better than you know yourself. They haven't gone through anything you have gone through. They haven't lived your life so who are they to decide what is good for you ? " Mmmm..none of your buisness ,goodbye "

Many people see Gale’s relationship with Mystra as that of a man and a woman. Gale is a man trying to “cross the boundaries” of the woman he fancies. But that interpretation is misguided and ignores what the relationship truly is, that of a mortal and a god.
I don’t feel like you need to know about dnd lore or Mystra herself to recognize the insane power imbalance that creates. An eons old entity in charge of all magic and a young wizard man are not on equal footing. Gale himself is even kind of aware of this, as he wanted and tried desperately to be enough for Mystra so she might deign to make him an equal.
Criticize his hubris all you want. It’s his fatal flaw and huge part of his character arc. But, Shadowheart is right there being abused by her goddess and everyone can see that. I mean, fuck, all of the origins are being abused by powerful people, but Gale’s not?
It just baffles me that at a time when our culture is harshly examining age gaps and power imbalances in romantic relationships more people aren’t seeing Mystra for the walking red flag that she is.

Demon!SY? It's interesting to think of this ridiculous, doting man finding a persona that lets him exist within that culture
i adore all iterations of demon!sy and honestly would love to make a longer fic of it at some point... every version of it is just so tasty, shout out especially to every single person who's done abyssal monster! sy ....
---
When Shen Yuan first realizes the particulars of his transmigration - that is, the fact that he’s a moderately powerful demon in this life - he’s absolutely delighted.
For normal reasons, obviously!! For normal, not-weird reasons!! Like - like the fact that Shen Yuan has the power to help Luo Binghe, as a demon!! Not because of the extra eyes he has, or the too-long limbs, or the scales that glisten in the sun, or three rows of teeth that snap through anything -!
Ahem. Not those things. Just the parts about how Shen Yuan could be useful to Luo Binghe!!
Still, when it comes to actually doing the whole be-useful-to-Binghe thing, it isn’t so simple as waiting around in the demon realm for Luo Binghe to show up before volunteering to be his advisor or whatever. By the time Luo Binghe makes it to the demon realm, he’ll be full steam ahead focusing on conquering and gathering power, and Shen Yuan falling into line wouldn’t really be seen as anything especially useful.
Shen Yuan wants to help Luo Binghe when it counts, when Luo Binghe will need the help - so naturally, Shen Yuan finds a way into the Endless Abyss.
It’s the perfect plan! Shen Yuan may not know exactly where Luo Binghe gets dropped, but he knows the general topography. On top of that, there are places where the boundary between the Abyss and the human realm is weaker and more prone to tears - if Shen Yuan uses that to map out potential places for the Abyss to open during the Immortal Alliance Conference, and cross references that with what Luo Binghe experienced in the Abyss, then Shen Yuan can certainly find the general area to wait for Luo Binghe in!
And, while he’s waiting, Shen Yuan may as well prepare to be useful! He can make a sturdy little shelter for Luo Binghe to rest and recover in before he has to face the rest of the Abyss - or, wait, should Shen Yuan make more shelters, scattered around the Abyss in the general path from where Luo Binghe will fall all the way to Xin Mo?
Shen Yuan found Xin Mo no problem, after all - of course he wasn’t going to take it, that’s Luo Binghe’s! He just wanted to make sure it was all ready for Luo Binghe when he got there! And really, it isn’t necessary that Luo Binghe fetch the stupid sword from the carcass of a beast, so Shen Yuan can just fetch Xin Mo out of there himself and get it cleaned up, and perhaps put it on a nice little pedestal for Luo Binghe to find later -
Wait, should Shen Yuan just take Xin Mo and have it ready to give to Luo Binghe in the very first little shelter, the one Luo Binghe will stay in after falling into the Abyss? No, of course not, a little bun protagonist like he’ll be when he first falls wouldn’t be ready to wield something as nasty as this toxic sword stinking up Shen Yuan’s yard - the journey through the Abyss is what prepares Luo Binghe for it.
Shen Yuan will just leave Xin Mo where he found it, guarded off from other predators but otherwise cleaned and sharpened and ready for Luo Binghe, and go back to waiting for Luo Binghe in the starting area.
…What if Luo Binghe can’t make it between shelters fast enough, though? What if Shen Yuan had built them too far apart??
Ah, he’ll have to wrangle a Snake Headed Horse Monkey for Luo Binghe to ride on! Shen Yuan can train a few of them, even, so Luo Binghe can have his pick, and -
Luo Binghe falls from the sky, landing perfectly safely in the pile of Abyssal Weed Stalks that Shen Yuan keeps to feed his farm animals with.
“Oh!” He cries, brushing dust and grime from his robes, trying to make himself presentable as Luo Binghe scrambles to sit up. “Binghe, you’re here! Ah, but I haven’t finished preparing all the maps you’ll need, and I only have enough food stored for you to last several months, and -”
Luo Binghe blinks at him, looking around with wide eyes at the stable he crashed through on his fall down into the Abyss. His robes are stained with blood - and wow, Heavenly Demon blood really does smell good! Or, haha, Shen Yuan just means that it looks so pretty! Because it came from inside of Luo Binghe! Who is very pretty!!
….Shen Yuan looks away from the blood stains. He has enough miracle healing plants in his garden for Luo Binghe to have his pick of them later, anyway, it’s fine!!
“...Do you know me?” Luo Binghe asks, wary.
“Of course!” Shen Yuan says, delighted to be asked about his knowledge of Luo Binghe. “You’re the most incredible person in the world!”
Luo Binghe, somehow, grows more suspicious.
“Who are you?” He asks, standing and taking on a ready stance despite his missing sword.
His expression has sharpened into something dark and distrustful, lacking all of the cute confusion he’d worn when first taking in his surroundings, and it makes Shen Yuan want to tut at him. Cute boy, sweet boy, Shen Yuan won’t hurt you!!
Shen Yuan moves closer to Luo Binghe, curling one of his extra arms around him dotingly.
“Binghe can call me anything he likes,” he says, which is true. Shen Yuan wasn’t given a proper name in this world, after all! “Why don’t you think of something while I get you inside, hm? I have some swords for you to choose from to replace Zheng Yang, and you’ll let me wash your hair for you, and you can get a good night’s rest before you head off to Xin Mo.”
Luo Binghe tries to duck under Shen Yuan’s arm, but Shen Yuan catches him with several of his others.
“Let go of me -!” Luo Binghe cries, eyes wide and panicked, and Shen Yuan sighs.
“There’s no need to be afraid,” he says soothingly, his teeth clicking reassuringly at Luo Binghe. “Here, look -”
Shen Yuan pulls Luo Binghe up off the ground, cradling him in his arms and leaning down to press his mouth gently to Luo Binghe’s forehead.
It isn’t a kiss, for the record!! Shen Yuan would never dare to kiss Luo Binghe, or a man in general, or -
Anyway, it’s not a kiss!! Shen Yuan is just showing Luo Binghe that no matter how cool and dangerous his mouth looks, it won’t ever hurt Luo Binghe!!
“See?” Shen Yuan says, straightening but not setting Luo Binghe down. “I won’t hurt you.”
Luo Binghe stares up at Shen Yuan with wide, shocked eyes, his cheeks flushing with color, and stops struggling. Shen Yuan hums, pleased, and uses one of his spare arms to pat indulgently at Luo Binghe’s head.
“Good boy,” Shen Yuan says. “Now, let’s get you taken care of, hm?”
