[CN] MLQC Lucien's Through Thousands of Mirrors event translation (Day 1 -Thursday)
⚠️ SPOILER ALERT ⚠️
This post contains a HEAVY SPOILER for the event that has not been released in EN yet! Feel free to notify me if there are any mistakes in the translation~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through Thousands of Mirrors Event | Day 1 (You're here!) | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | HS/Uni SSR Story: Monochrome Scenery
Tumblr media
-
[Tidbits: I don't wanna break the flow so I'll put some information here first 😂. Dr. Lawson is Lucien's post-grad professor. Before, he also appears in UR MQ Distant Similarity. During his post-grad he has three seniors Colt, Elliot, and Caroline.]
-
[Math]
Tumblr media
Seeing the particularly puzzled expression on the classmate next to him, Lucien starts to consider whether he should offer some assistance within his capabilities.
For instance, he thinks about telling the classmate that the topic currently being discussed on the blackboard is not from the same chapter as the one in the textbook he's currently reading.
-
[MATH/BIOCHEMISTRY]
Tumblr media
After the vending machine devours Lucien's one dollar and twenty-five cents for the third time, and with only three minutes left to get to his next class, he begins to seriously contemplate whether he should try some mysterious repair method—like giving it a good smack or a swift kick.
-
[BIOCHEMISTRY]
Tumblr media
Lucien coincidentally runs into Colt by the sports field, just as Colt is about to attend a cricket practice session.
Upon realizing that his senior from the lab is not only managing coursework and a significant project workload but also juggling a 20-hour weekly part-time job and daily school cricket team training, Lucien begins to contemplate whether there is any room for further optimization in his own schedule.
-
[PREVIEW/COMPUTER SCIENCE]
Tumblr media
During the brief half-hour period, Lucien typically uses the time to prepare for the upcoming class or visit the library to research and gather information.
In any case, that time should not be spent on arguing and explaining to people, like the enthusiastic campus volunteer in front of him.
"No, thank you. I'm not a high school student attending a summer camp. This is my student ID, and I'm indeed a student here, a graduate student. Yes, I'm not lost, and I need to get to my class. Can you please let me go?"
-
[COMPUTER SCIENCE]
Lucien presses the enter key, intending to ask the teacher if he can leave early once his coursework is done. However, the error message on the screen deters him from that thought. So, he sits back down and begins to examine it again.
But that's okay, he does understand the commonality between computer science and experimental research: it's often hard to know right away if the thing at hand will work, why it's not working, or even why it's even working.
-
[LAB]
Come on, come on, come on. After moving this box, there's another.
And after moving that box, there are three more to go.
The prospects for the future and the shine in one's eyes are often taken away by the God of research in such necessary yet mechanical repetitive work.
-
[LAB]
Lucien goes out to get some water and returns to find a school burger on his desk.
Colt, with dark circles under his eyes, waves at Lucien and saying, "No need to thank me, newcomer. Have some food, we might be staying here today."
Lucien quietly eats the burger, hesitant to tell Colt that he has spent more time in the laboratory than in the dorm.
-
[LAB]
Tumblr media
When Dr. Lawson enters the laboratory, what he sees is a scene where his graduate and doctoral students are sleeping and sprawled all over the place.
On the laboratory whiteboard, several words were written in large letters: "Publish immediately! Guaranteed to be published in Nature!!"
Dr. Lawson retrieves small blankets from the cabinet, covering each of these research madmen.
He proceeds to organize the data and take over the finishing work on the project. Of course, when it comes to authorship in the paper, not a single one of these kids' names can be left out.

what a time to be a twst fan
oh boy, I know I'm late but that's because I unfortunately have responsibilities, but like. what the fuck, I can't not say something about this
they announced March sched a day before the last day of the month . huh. and Japan doesn't have Feb 28 as a holiday so Hm
but anyway
what the fuck, dorm Malleus on early March????
they're not gonna wazowski him on anniv dorm banner???????? you can actually get him???????????
or will they pull what EN did for bday Malleus and run dorm Malleus banner the same time as the anniv banner and not add his card into the anniv banner WWWWWWWW
but also anniv banner is just a glorified standard banner, and all dorm cards are automatically added to standard SOOO huh. that's funky.
anyway. HELLO???????? MAGIC 3??????? FOR LIMIT BROKEN SSR CARDS?????????????????
oughhhhhhhhh this is so fucking exciting how is it gonna be like. are there new effects the card can do??? can you do more duo magic????? can you deal 4 hits in total??? rn I'm just so excited about doing magic 3 with my lv110 dorm Azul because HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOW STRONG WILL YOU BE YOU SEXY BITCH
what. is boost in HP/ATK for LB though. like. is it like a buddy boost thing ??? guess we'll find out soon huh
OK GUEST ROOM FINALLY WILL HAVE VOICED LINES???? THANK YOU????????? suddenly I am playing the guest room with volume every day
BUT EYO EYO OTHER PLAYERS CAN VISIT OUR ROOMS!!!! I'M ACTUALLY SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE ;;;;;;U;;;;;; I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THIS FEATURE EVER SINCE GUEST ROOM WAS INTRODUCED LAST ANNIV, I'M SO EXCITED
I wonder if only friends can visit. It would make sense
ok but hello??????? SPARK SYSTEM IN TWST?????????? 200 PULLS GUARANTEED SSR
I am fully believing that the spark system is here because Yana Toboso had to throw 300 rolls for Masquerade Azul and she didn't like that at all. Everyone say thank you to Azul Ashengrotto.
900 pulls silk Jamil JP player must be malding in their seat right now though
Also I have known people who threw 400-500 rolls for Halloween Jade. Rip to them too
ngl I will miss the gacha horror stories of needing to throw more than 200 rolls to get one single copy. there's a kind of thrill those give.
but at the same time, thank GOD I'LL BE OK!!!! THERE ARE THREE AZUL SSRS TO EXPECT IN THE FUTURE, THAT BEING CLUB, TSUM, AND HIS BIRTHDAY NEXT YEAR, AND IDK WHEN CLUB AND TSUM WOULD HAPPEN!!! There is no need to feel like it is never enough
anyway at least I'll still kinda get the EN gacha horror stories. I'm sorry guys but .. I like hearing about others suffering in gacha .......
the fact that there are still going to be more updates.... like. what Else are they gonna do
actually, unified exams being late March is so sudden??? We just had them. BUt I'm not complaining, I got 109k in the last one. this time. this time I'm getting SSS.
ALS OSNGOIDNGSNONODSINGSODNOGNSONG CLUB FLOYDDDDDD GNBRHBJRBRBRBRHBGF NEED THE OCTA CRUMBS
course, can't forget about the latest update ramblings, but that's gonna be in a separate post after I go through 19080980180481209850128042190 messages worth of people screeching and links to tl summaries but it's like. 1am. and I need to sleep.
haha how fitting, right? absentmindedly hums Once Upon A Dream

I'm gonna go feral over the fact that I have a guarantee in getting General Vanrouge. THAT BAT IS MINE! I'LL GO TO HARD PITY IF I HAVE TO!
I got 14 SSR perfumes, a great guestroom for friendship EXP, more than enough Vignette snacks, and I'm almost done in collecting all the textbooks that I need for all 3 spells.
All I'm missing is 25 water textbooks and more honey jars. Quick question btw. How many honey jars do I need to ascend 100 levels in one go? It doesn't need to be exact, just a rough estimate.

Real quick because I didnt realise I had anime NYC tokens, I could redeem a guaranteed Dorm card for 100 coins or I could redeem a 10 key...
Im not sure should I use it on trying to break a Dorm card or use it to help increase my pulls om glorious masq, Ive been slowly pulling everyday with 10 paid gems due to it equaling to 3 pulls a day for 30 gems and right now im on 173 pity, on the day that its finally gone I would have exactly 180 due to getting a key from the unified exam store, I currently have 150 free gems and about 1000 paid gems so I could just pull to get that last 20 but I feel using paid gems to pull is very wasted due to the value you get from bundles. I'm pulling to get more copies of Masq Idia (lvl 85 n trying to get meta cosmic basic team) and I already have 1 copy of Azul and Mall. BUT for Dorms most of them aren't that high level, the only one whos max is Floyd who got to 100 when I was pulling for Mall. The only Dorm I dont have is Ruggie but he's not that useful meta wise so I dont mind waiting a little longer for him to spook me but for meta SSRs I cant decide if I want to level them over Masq T-T I'll list them their levels so you can help me decide which key should I get
Lvl 80 : Cater, Deuce, Leona
Lvl 85: Jamil, Kalim, Vil, Rook, Idia, Ortho
Lvl 90: Ace, Riddle, Azul, Epel
Lvl 95: Trey, Jack, Jade
Lvl 100: Floyd
So Im not sure if I should choose Masq Idia over upgrading one of these Dorm cards :/
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy ask!
Hello!
While I agree that it's better to boost event cards over dorm cards, I also agree that you're probably better off saving your paid gems for future bundles. For instance, New Years and anniversary are coming soon in EN, and they have some of the good bundles for paid gems (and with 1000 paid gems, you'll be able to afford the most expensive bundle for both events since they typically cost 490 paid gems). The New Year event with Ruggie and Sebek also had a paid SSR key that allowed you to get either Ruggie or Sebek at random, so if EN carries that over, and you want either of them, all the more you'd want to save your paid gems.
So I'd say go for LB-ing a Dorm card. If you really want to think about meta, my opinion would be:
Dorm Trey -> The one I'd recommend the most. He's at the 3rd limit break. He'd be really useful come MLB, especially when EN gets the MLB stat boost eventually.
Dorm Riddle, Rook, and Ortho -> Second most recommended because further LB means higher attack/power. Personally, I'd say Riddle since he's closer to MLB than Rook and Ortho, but that's up to you.
Dorm Leona -> Third recommended. I don't know how your Water Basic is like, but if you struggle in that, getting Leona to LB would be really useful.
Dorm Azul and Idia -> Fourth recommended. Always great to have Azul's attack/power and heal boosted or Idia's HP raised further, but unless you're struggling hard in defense tests, they're cards that can always be duped in banners eventually. Their levels are pretty good as they are.
Dorm Jade -> Fifth recommended. I only recommend just so both tweels are Lv.100. xD

One thing I've been talking about for a while that's entirely a personal gripe I have with the game is A3's event system and how draining it's gotten to play events. I had a little conversation earlier about the game's income declining over the years and I do honestly believe that and the decrease in player counts in recent events are largely because of the event system. I don't think the game's income has decreased enough for us to be worried about it shutting down though so I'm not talking about that and I don't wanna hear anything about it either. I've dealt with games shutting down before and I know the signs.
Anyway. Event system. It feels like they keep adding event types that cater to whales (PR events are super expensive, and the new Spotlight events are similar with the 2.7mil SSR+ reward and the redistributed SSR rewards from points vs ranking). The main issue I have, which as far as I'm aware I'm not alone on, is how damn hard it is to get finales in events, which is only worsened by the increased SP cap now that we have more to spend in one go after being away from the game for a bit or ranking up. In my own experience, it's easy to go 30+ minutes without getting a single finale and not everyone has the time or patience for that? I know I don't. People have other things to do and can't always be using their phones or playing games on them, and even if you just leave the game on auto while you do those other things, you'll still have to check on it for shows, and it'll still drain your phone's battery.
Other tap tap games I've played have some sort of safety net to avoid problems like that, like enstars basic guaranteeing you at least one rare live per event lesson, and while it's no longer active, On Air used to let you stack up to four event recordings at a time so if you let the game play itself for a while, you could come back and ideally at least one of those would be a 3☆ recording. Other games have similar guarantees or rate-ups or just...anything to make the event experience less of a pain. All we have in A3 is...one guaranteed show per practice, and that's, more often than not, a matinee or soiree.
On top of that, this is probably just me, but I feel like practices in A3 go really slow, both with auto and without, and the auto-cancellation of specific show types is just as slow. That makes it feel like each practice takes forever, which really doesn't help (again, I've gone 45 minutes without a finale on more than one occasion).
I'm really just complaining but...I wish they'd make some kind of tweak or improvement to the event system. They only need to change one of these things to make the event experience exponentially better, whether it's by increasing finale rates, adding a guarantee of some sort, or speeding practices up. It's...not a big request to make, I think? But it'd make things so much easier for me and a lot of others who I know struggle to play the game anymore because of how draining it is.
I know gacha companies aren't our friends, but we have jobs or school or other things in our lives to deal with and waiting half an hour for a single finale just isn't worth it in the middle of all that. It's actively harming their revenue too, so it'd really be in their best interest to change things a little. I still love A3 and I want to keep reading and translating the stories and other content because nothing can replace this story and these characters in my heart, but it'd be nice if I could be as enthusiastic about the actual gameplay aspect.

This is the same anon who had birthday Idia come home on a single pull after failing to get him with the free keys lol, but for some reason I always have the worst luck pulling for Vil's SSRs, which sucks because he's my favorite character ;-; the only SSR of him I have is his Halloween card, and even then he refused to come home until I hit 100 summons and was guaranteed to get him, I really had to work for him lol
Meanwhile birthday Azul, Ruggie, and Ortho all came home with the free keys—
Okay so I did this mostly about Ruggie & Azul since ya know. Ortho is bby. Anyways! Onto the request! *cracks knuckles*
*looks at results*
…shit am I… am I a Ruggie simp and just didn’t even know?
In deep
(Azul x Reader x Ruggie) Ft. Unrequitedlove!Vil
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You knew from the second you caught sight of Vil at the orientation ceremony you were screwed. Like one moment you were being threatened by a fiery weasel-cat thing, then they’re was a bunch of people in black robes and just as you mentally resigned yourself to being ritualizly sacrificed by some sort of cult- oh.
Oh my.
Oh my.
Is that an angel? Surely it had to be right? No way a human being could be that drop dead gorgeous, right?
Yeah you were pretty much done for at that moment. You were, as Lila would say in a comedicly over the top impression of an elderly man ‘down bad, as the younguns say.’
Unfortunately it seemed that your fascination was one sided. Your clear admiration for him was no secret to Vil. He was a celebrity after all, he had hundreds of thousands of fans, it’s not like one more of them was too surprising. He kept his interactions with you brief and polite, but he’d be denying it if he claimed he didn’t enjoy the slight ego boost he’d get from crossing paths with you.
But just how you were too busy simping admiring Vil, you had managed to aquire a few admirers yourself, not that you’d realized this.
The first one to fall prey to your charms had been none other that the local jack of all trades, the master of oddjobs and questionably acquired goods himself; Ruggie Buuchi.
Ruggie hadn’t really paid you much mind in the beginning. You were just the strange magicless person who’d been staying in the old dorm building, and not much else. He’d marked you as a potential target in the future, thinking your more kind demeanor would make you easy pickings. And so, like the scavenging hyena he was, Ruggie started scoping you out. He didn’t like what he found. It was too much like back home, seeing the way you barely scraped by on what few groceries you could afford and haphazardly trying to cover the worst of the holes in the old buildings’s walls, they way your cheeks where just barely sunken, something that most wouldn’t have noticed. Ruggie did. He was all to familiar with the suffering that you were going through. Perhaps it was because you reminded him of the kids he’d known back in the slums, but Ruggie’s usually oh so selfish heart began to bleed for you. And then came the tournament. He tried to not focus on the fact that he was getting other students hurt, but at the same time, when he locked eyes with you, he’d known at that second, you knew. You knew it was him behind the injuries, and the guilt that he had struggled to fight off multiples.
It wasn’t until Leona’s overblot that he realized just how much he cared for you. When Leona’s unique magic had begun to turn his body to sand, it was you, little magicless you, who had all but charged at the Prince in anger. The hyena’s eyes widened as he watched you punch Leona, THE Leona Kingscholar, in the jaw. To protect him. For his sake.
It was that moment when Ruggie realized, “oh shit. I’m in deeper than I thought.” Because Ruggie knew he liked you. But it wasn’t until that moment he recognized that that little “liking you” thing had somehow become a “loving you” thing.
From that point on, he went out of his way to do little things to aid you, and needless to they rest of his dormmates were left stunned. Ruggie didn’t do ANYTHING for free: there was ALWAYS a catch with the hyena, but for you? Ruggie would be more than happy to lend you a hand without asking a single thing from you in turn.
In fact, it hadn’t been Leona who invited you to take refuge in Savannaclaw when Azul took Ramshackle from you, rather it’d been Ruggie who had smuggled you in, unable to bear the thought of you having no place to go. It was too familiar, too much like the kids back home in the slums, he couldn’t bear it. When Leona had found out, he’d barely even got a word in before Ruggie pleaded to let you stay until you could get Ramshackle back. The prince’s eyes had widened at the sheer desperation in his dormmate’ voice, and as bitter as Leona could be when he wanted to, he couldn’t force you to leave. Not when you had nowhere else to go, and certainly not when Ruggie had been so quick to defend you. Ruggie wouldn’t have admitted it, but a part of him, that part of him that was selfish and greedy and thought of only himself, was a bit bummed when the ordeal with Azul was settled and you returned to Ramshackle. Man, there goes his perfect excuse for being so doting on you! Which had been “Well since your staying with us in Savannahclaw for now, that makes you one of my dormmates! And what kind of upperclassmen would I be if I didn’t look out for my dorm’s little newbies, huh?” Always followed by that iconic laugh of his. You never pointed out that said treatment did not in fact, apply to Jack, who was the one who was actually one of his underclassmen. The selfish part of him almost wished you hadn’t managed to break your contract with Azul.
Speaking of which, Azul had also kept an eye on you from your first meeting. At first it was purely because he had hoped to rope you into some sort of agreement with him, but the more he’d observed the more interesting you seemed to get. It was maddening. And then the tweels had found out about his little soft spot for you and things had gotten infinitely worse. When you’d first come storming into Monstro Lounge, he couldn’t even approach you without getting awkward, so he’d had to take a moment to compose himself. Needless to say the tweels had been very amused. Much to his annoyance. He doesn’t remember much about what happened during his overblot, but what he does remember was waking up from it to the sight of your worried expression. If he weren’t so emotionally drained at the time, he’s almost certain he’d have died on the spot of embarrassment. You had just sighed in relief when he stirred, helping him up to his feet and asking if he was hurt anywhere. It was such genuine care, such sincere kindness that he was left stunned. No one at NRC was kind, not without their own motives. But there you were, so kind, so patient. He could hardly concentrate thanks to all the unfamiliar and intrusive thoughts running around his mind. After you’d left, the octomer spent a considerable amount of time sorting out his feelings. The conclusion he reached was that somehow, someway, you’d managed to find a way past his walls and endear yourself to him. This realization left him nervous to say the least. Even still, he decided that he’d try to form a bond with you. Hopefully he could do this without embarrassing himself too much…
Needless to say, both Ruggie and Azul were pretty smitten with you. So as the days got colder and the leaves began to fall, they two had decided to make a move on their feelings.
“Ah, Prefect, I was wondering if you would like to join Octavinelle’s theme this Halloween. Since Ramshackle has no costumes, we’re more than willing to have you join us for the night. Holidays are always more fun with the company of friends after all.”
“Heya [Name]! Wanna match costumes with Savannaclaw? We’re doing a pirate theme! It’ll be fun, not to mention the fancy gems on the outfits! Aw come on what’s that look for? I wouldn’t dream of pocketing a few shinies prefect, you wound me with your accusations~!”
Hmm…
Now how exactly are you supposed to explain you’d agreed with Vil’s invitation to dress up alongside the rest of Pomefiore this year…..

Arcana Twilight Guide: Unicorn Horns
How to Obtain Unicorn Horns
Visits
Use Sorcerers with the boost for rare drops to increase the chance of getting of Unicorn Horns. If a Unicorn Horn drops, watch an ad for a chance to get an extra one.
Even though the chance to get a Unicorn Horn during visits is random, doing Visits regularly means you'll slowly earn these over time in addition to the gold and other item rewards.
Tumblr media
SOS Gifts
Use premium gifts like Wish Coupons or Hero Teddy Bears during SOS with the Sorcerers after battles or on the home screen. If you don't want to spend gems buying these items, there are two options: Premium gifts are sometimes mailed to players during events, and Wish Coupons are sometimes available to purchase for gold in the Contell Shop.
I've gotten the most Unicorn Horns (3) using three Wish Coupons while using one Hero Teddy Bear awarded two Unicorn Horns. This is another random way of earning Unicorn Horns but is repeatable as long as you have those items to give during SOS.
Tumblr media
Scout
Once you've maxed the skill-ups for a card (Lv. 10), any additional duplicates of that card will automatically convert to Unicorn Horns.
Tumblr media
Tip: use excess gold from Visits to buy 10 Scout pulls from the Possession Room (27,000 gold) to quickly build up your card collection and earn duplicate skill-ups. Over time this will mean more cards convert to Unicorn Horns as your card collection maxes out.
Spending Unicorn Horns in the Exchange Shop
Unicorn Horns can be used as an alternative currency for gems to buy certain gameplay-related items in addition to some exclusive cosmetics.
Card Pieces (15 or 135 Unicorn Horns)
As of writing this, you can purchase card pieces that can be combined to make an SSR quality card for Arcturus, Spica, or Alpheratz.
Tumblr media
The most efficient way to spend Unicorn Horns (UH) here is to buy 10 pieces at once for 135 UH, which is a savings of 15 UH rather than buying single pieces over time. The total UH cost for completing a card is 810 UH for 60 card pieces.
TL;DR Should you buy this? No.
Why not? Unlike some of the other options, SSR cards are normally acquired randomly through Scout for Magic Tickets or gems. By the time you have 810 UH to complete one of these SSR cards, you might already have it, or have enough SSR cards in your collection that having more doesn't have the same impact versus a newer player just starting out. If you like one of the Sorcerers and want their card for collection reasons, and have literally no need for anything else you want to spend UH on, then sure. For newer players, this is a huge UH investment and there are better ways of building your card collection than this.
Magic Tickets (45 Unicorn Horns)
Magic Tickets are used in Scout for Sorcerer or Wish cards. I always recommend using 10 Magic Tickets to do a 10-pull in Scout so you're guaranteed at least one SR+ quality card.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Should you buy this? Yes.
This is a much better use of UH than buying the specific card pieces mentioned earlier. Let's look at it from a gem cost perspective:
Scout 10-pull gem cost: 2700 gems Scout 10-pull Magic Ticket cost: 10 Magic Tickets (450 UH) Each UH spent on Magic Tickets has a value of 6 gems.
You can spend 810 UH collecting pieces for a single SSR card, or you could spend 900 UH on 20 Scout pulls with at least two cards being guaranteed SR+ quality. I definitely think this is the best use for UH from a card collecting or gameplay perspective especially for FTP players.
Four Seasons Amplifier Stone (3 Unicorn Horns each)
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Should you buy this? No.
This is a single Amplifier Stone that has a one-time use in battle. Amplifier Stones can be acquired in other ways including Visits and SOS gifts. If you're stuck on a battle stage, spending gold and items on powering up your cards is a better way to overcome those hurdles rather than wasting rare currency on this.
SOS Presents (1-2 Unicorn Horns each)
Each present costs 1 UH except for the Wish Coupon that costs 2 UH.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Should you buy this? No, with one possible exception.
SOS Presents are only useful for earning higher affection points and better gifts from Sorcerers after battles or on the homescreen during SOS. The ONLY item I would consider purchasing would be the Wish Coupons. That is because:
Wish Coupons are the best items (excluding gem-only premium items) for earning Sorcerer affection points
Sorcerer gifts to the player after using Wish Coupons are extremely high value compared to the other Sorcerer-specific items (ex. 3 UH, 15,000 gold)
Each Wish Coupon purchased with UH saves the player 50 gems which is a huge amount if you want to use these on a regular basis
If your main priority is earning Sorcerer affection points quickly and you don't want to spend gems on premium gifts in the Item Shop, purchasing Wish Coupons with UH are the next best thing. This won't impact battle gameplay at all, but it might help players who want to focus on earning affection rewards with their favourite Sorcerer.

Hello Raven, I hope you are having a good day. I am curious, I know that the beginner tip for twst is to focus on limited card than standard pool cards, but where do you think that Bday banners fit into this? Are Bday banners bad due to not allowing you to accidently grab a standard banner card or are they as important as limited banners? I begun playing jp version at march and I am lost on how to prioritize resources. Feel free to not answer this tho if it is not something you have a opinion on
I would say that all Birthday cards are moreso for the aesthetics (to give fanservice to people who really enjoy a particular character) and the lore (provided in the vignettes) than meta (being strong for gameplay). They’re generally okay cards to use for battles but they tend to be very situational, with only a few standing out as “good” cards. Basically, if you like the look of a Birthday boy and want to have bragging rights, then go for it. Translations/spoilers for the vignettes can easily be found online, so you can always look at those at your leisure.
I don’t think I can say for sure whether the Birthday banners are “better” than or “worse” than the limited banners. They operate in very different ways! The Birthday banners ONLY have the Birthday SSR in the pool, but you’re guaranteed to get it in the 100 pulls pity, whereas the limited banners have the permanent SSRs in the pool along with the featured SSR, and you’re not guaranteed the limited SSR in the pity. Another thing to consider is that Birthday banners are recurring, and limited banners may not be.
Whenever a TWST boy’s birthday rolls around, they add a new Birthday SSR for him (last year’s series as “Birthday Boy”, which features a suit and sash, and this year’s series is “Union Birthday”, which features a vest and a letterman jacket), so if you miss the Birthday card for this year, it will just return next year, along with the option to roll for another new Birthday card. Birthday banners also have increased drop rate for permanent cards that feature the birthday boy, and that can be useful for level uncapping cards or collecting perfumes. Some permanent SR and R cards can actually be quite useful!
Meanwhile, the limited banners are much more exclusive. Usually, limited characters don’t return unless there’s a rerun event OR you have to wait for special circumstances to get that exclusive character. (I believe for the second anniversary of TWST that they did a special standard banner where you could throw in 150 rolls to be guaranteed a limited SSR of your choosing from a small pool which included characters like Suitor Suit Idia. However, it was also possible to trade those rolls in for your choice of a Birthday Boy card.) The limited cards tend to be more varied in design (since they’re not restrained to the motifs of the birthday line for a particular year) and combat abilities, but it’s possible that you can throw hundreds of rolls into a limited banner and not get the featured character at all. It’s a frustration that has been expressed by many players (especially when the pity character turns out to be a pretty bad dorm SSR).
It’s up to every individual player to weigh those pros and cons and decide for themselves what they value the most and how they want to allocate their resources. For example, I personally ignore most Birthday banners in favor of saving for limited banners. If a Birthday card has a super cute Groovy or features a character that I really enjoy (like J*de), then I’m more inclined to roll for it.
To summarize:
If you want to get more SSRs in general or a card that may not show up again, go for the limited banner.
If you want to focus on level uncapping your characters or want to rep your favorite boy(s), then go for the Birthday banner.
You’ll need to evaluate the gameplay meta and/or the design of each featured SSR card on an individual basis yourself to determine if you want to save or roll whenever a new Birthday card is dropped 😅

To The Wire
Back at it again with my silly little bad things happen bingo fics :)
“One more try,” Idia whispers. “One….one more.”
Nothing in the dark room answers him. The frantic tapping that had been filling the space with some semblance of motion, of life, has long since died down. His is the only living body left, frantically pressing the same unresponsive screen over and over again.
“Come on—“
There’s wires strewn around the room. Pieces of broken plastic, their jagged edges melted down into twisting shapes line the floor like knives, waiting for the next unguarded body to step too close. The only source of light is the one clutched in Idia’s hands, and the faint glow there isn’t enough to illuminate anything more than his face and the screen that he presses frantically, long fingers flying over the surface.
“Don’t leave me….”
The screen flashes once, a single burst of color and light.
“NO!”
The phone screen goes black.
Idia screams.
+
In the corner of the room, another screen goes bright.
“Brother? Is something wrong?”
“EVERYTHING is wrong,” Idia groans, throwing himself backwards onto the bed. “My phone bricked itself trying to pull the ultimate fighter SSR from the miniplanet gatcha event and now I’m never gonna have it working again before the event ends, and RogueKnave96 already has the card!”
Ortho tilts his head to the side, eyes flickering rapidly with yellow-white lights as he processes the new information. “Why does RogueKnave96 matter in this instance? Shouldn’t you be focusing your energies on repairing your phone before the event ends?”
“RogueKnave is ALL that matters!” Idia cries, flinging himself upright with the sheer force of his cry. “He’s like, the only other local player of my caliber and he’s already been using the Forest Slasher card AND a Water Warrior. If I don’t pull the ultimate warrior before midnight game time I’m NEVER going to beat him in the local online tournament mode and my NRC ultimate gamer rep will be ruined!! RUINED!!”
“Could you not simply…” Ortho pauses. “Repair your phone before the event deadline and continue to pull until you retrieve the character you desire?”
“Dude.” Idia snorts. “It’s like, four am. Events end at five, because Sage’s Island is in BFE and everyone else plays in a real gamer timezone. No way can I fix my phone in time and also make up enough coins to do another pull. AND even if I could do that there’s no guarantee that I’d even get the charas I need. It’s a loss. My gamer cred is toast.”
Ortho’s eyes flicker shut, plunging the room into darkness aside from the slight glow of the brother’s hair. “According to my calculations, your average repair time for this phone is just under half an hour. The current time is 4:10 am, which would leave you with nearly twenty minutes of time during which you could pull the card you desire.”
Idia flops a hand out of his despairing slump. “No-go. The thing is totally bricked.”
Ortho opens his eyes, sending the yellow-white light out across the room again, illuminating the messy space. “If you remove the morality upgrades from my system I could connect through the direct port in my arm to the hardware of the phone and access the game servers to ensure that you pull the card you need before 5 am local time.”
“I said no. It’s hopeless. There’s no use in fixing it before the event ends.”
Ortho steps off his charging pad, electronic feet hovering off the ground as his flight drive kicks in. “If you allow me to access the game’s servers I could make sure you get the card you need. It would take…”
Ortho’s voice pauses, a soft whirr emanating from his body instead. Cooling fans kicking in. Idia should really get around to upgrading those soon. The new weight-calibrated models with the larger blades are quieter, better for Ortho’s design. Humans don’t move around followed by a whirring noise.
Ortho’s voice starts up again. “Ten minutes from the time you adjust my morality upgrades. I could access the servers through the vulnerability that you detected previously and notified the game company about. My records indicate that they haven’t repaired the vulnerability yet, and the breach would be virtually undetectable to most humans.”
Idia growls. “I said no, Ortho.”
Ortho floats closer to the lump on the bed. “Idia? The biometric trackers you placed on your heart rate are indicating that you are becoming distressed from this conversation. If you would just undo the upgrades to my morality–”
“No!”
Ortho’s thrusters kick in at the unexpected noise, shooting him a few centimeters back from his brother.
“Idia?”
Ortho tilts his head, letting the light from his eyes shift and play over Idia’s slumped form.
“Idia? Please?”
Ortho waits. He is patient, because Ortho was always patient. Always the best little brother, patient and kind and always up to be a player two. Never a player one. Never asked for too much. Never overstepped. He used to be perfect. That’s why his morality software is far beyond what any of the NRC students have in their human brains. That’s why he can’t hack into the game servers without direct authorization, because cheating isn’t what Ortho would have done.
He was the perfect little brother once, so this Ortho will wait, patiently, until it’s too late to do anything.
+
The dorm room goes dark first, and then quiet.
Ortho stands on his charging pad, eyes closed, fans quiet. Powered down, he doesn’t look much like a human. Too silent, too still. No movement, not even the gentle rise and fall of slow, sleeping breaths.
The digital clock on the nightstand doesn’t tick like an old analogue one, but the numbers flip over one by one. It’s 4:56
Pixels shift.
4:57.
Ortho used to be flesh and blood. Once.
He begged back then. Begged to be player one, just once, just this time, please, Idia?
4:58.
Ortho didn’t always have the ports in his arm. They’re in his arm now, even though it’s a pain in the butt and a strain on the wires to run them through his artificial shoulder joint to meet up with the main processors in his chest, because Idia can’t stand the sight of any Ortho with holes in his chest.
Ortho can’t bleed anymore. Technomancy can’t create flesh and blood.
4:59.
Idia shifts. The phone is cold in his hand now, still dead. Some battery problem. Didn’t have enough power to keep the thing going.
Ortho has backup batteries in every part of his body. Each of his arms or legs could power his core processor independently for up to seven hours if his main power unit was damaged. He’s got fast charging too, and a portable suitcase charger that can fold down into a backpack. Even STYX mobile response bots don’t have that.
There’s always been whispers about what happened. If the response bots had been faster, if there had been less ads slowing them down, if the Shroud family hadn’t been cursed. Maybe Ortho would be here. Maybe he’d be flesh and blood and still begging to help hack into a game server in the middle of the night, just because his big brother wanted to win.
5:00.
Too late.

I only have 4 pulls and 135 gems, and the tsum tsum event is soon! I'm better start grinding! Also I advised you keep you gems and keys for this masterpiece of a Leona cards!
Tumblr media
Here the groovy version
Tumblr media
So yeah I wish both for us and all of the Leona's simps to get his Tsum Tsum card!
Oh, trust me, I'm aware of the upcoming event and both card arts. XD To be honest, I'm nervous for a totally different reason. You see, I actually have succeeded in storing up a LOT of gems and keys, since I skipped a lot of Summons in the fading months of last year to try and earn Malleus' Birthday Card. I ended up getting his Card twice within the same Tenfold Summon, so I just kept on saving because I knew of various Summons I'd want to get in on this year. I ended up using more than 50 pulls to get Azul's Union Birthday Card. No regrets there, and I still have quite a few gems...but now it means I no longer have an ABSOLUTE guarantee on my next Summon, and it also makes me worry since I actually want BOTH of the SSRs for this event, meaning Leona AND Riddle. Hopefully I can get at least one of them. The real question is which it will be. Therein lies the rub. 'XD

I Am (not so) Atomic
Tumblr media
Last year, i was blessed with a brand new anime obsession: The Eminence in Shadow. It’s a wildly derivative take on the Isekai genre but i can’t help but love this show, man. It slides right into the same vein as Tensura and Overlord, specifically the latter, and considering those two shows have climbed into the upper echelons of my all-time list, Shadow was basically tailored made for me. Truthfully, i had been on the Cid Kageno bandwagon for some time. I remember picking up this manga years ago and falling in love with it by the fourth chapter bu i was the anime that sealed my adoration. This thing was fantastic. The action was kinetic, the animation fluid, and the character work executed perfectly. I was a bit bummed when the show ended. I wanted more Shadow content and i wanted it now! So color me surprised when i found out that there is a gacha game based on the franchise. A gacha game that is canon to the narrative which covered the seven year time skip and reveals the origins of Shadow Garden, itself. Shut up and take my money!
Tumblr media
The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden is a gacha game akin to something like Bleach: Brave Souls. Or, rather, it feels a lot like that. It’s kind of an autoplay scenario. You set your party before each match and just press play. Battles are on kind of an ATB system where your characters act according to a set algorithm. They periodically perform special moves, combos that buff your party, and executed cinematic super moves once a bar fills up. In that respect, it’s not so much a game than it is a form of tower defense. I mean, i have vague memories of Valkyrie Profile and Resonance of Fate playing similar to this but it’s been years since I've touched one of those games so i might just be imagining it. Still, the actual gamely leaves a lot to be desired, because of course it would, it’s a gacha game, bu Master of Garden makes up for that with slick, 3D, animations and pretty solid models. I was surprised by how polished the varying designs of the main characters. More than that, it’s the customization which really gets you.
Tumblr media
he actual gameplay is forgettable to say he leas but the prep for those auto-battles? That is where he fun lies. There is some real depth in terms of building your team here and i am here for all of that. First, there is an elemental system in place. Red, blue, green, etc. Red beats green, blue beats red, if you’ve played an RPG,ever, you get it. Each character gets assigned a color so here’s that. They also have certain jobs or classes, Tank and Healer being the most prominent. If you don’t have a tank or healer in your party, you’re gonna f*cking lose. Beyond that, you can level up each pf your characters through battles where you gain experience, or items you collect after battles. You can also equip your characters with generic weapons and armor which is tied to a ranking system that further increases your strength. You can also equip Magic Gear, which further enhancing your strength, each of which, themselves, can be modify and leveled up. It’s pretty deep for what effectively is a money pit, waifu simulator, which brings me to the biggest bummer about his entire game: he gacha.
Tumblr media
Master of Garden has one of the most unforgiving gacha systems i have ever experienced in a mobile game to date. It is rough out here, yo! Obviously, the goal is to roll as many SSR level characters as possible and that seems impossible. I’ve hit these banners several times with the ten times roll and i popped one SSR. One. And it was a f*cking tank. Those cats attack for sh*t. Both of SSRs are tanks, one of which is just a progress reward. But you can get a guaranteed SSR if you pay for it and they make that abundantly clear. They literally have special rolls for paid Gems, only. This is an every day thing. It took Fate/Grand Order, the most predatory f*cking gacha out there, years before they installed something like that. Master of Garden? Day one. Seriously, i can roll a guaranteed SSR for twenty-eight hundred paid Gems, which is basically fifty dollars because the thirty dollar option gives you twenty-four hundred. It’s f*cking insane. And the Pity System is pathetic. You have to collect, like, shards or something until you get enough to buy the character instead of just, you know, giving it to you after so many rolls. In doing so, you need o spend more of your Gems, which leads to a higher chance of you buying more gems, just to pop he Pity. It’s disgusting.
Tumblr media
Overall, i can’t recommend this “game”. It appeals to the Virgo in me with all of he customization but i can’t, in good conscious, tell you to play knowing how unforgiving that gacha is. That sh*t sucks because the narrative during the time skip is pretty f*cking solid. It’s well acted and you get a ton of proper character moments that were missing in the show. I’m sure a Wikia somewhere has compiled all f those beats but experiencing it as it should be, on your [hone or PC, with the detailed graphics and proper voice acting, is an entirely different experience. If you’re a fan, give it a shot, i guess? I mean, i did, but it’ wildly disappointing, especially when you get that progress wall because it’ll come fast. I’ve been playing this thing for three days and I'm already at an impasse, mostly because anything under an S rank is bunk once you progress to the third chapter of the main campaign. Guess where I'm at now? Fun times, that. At least i got a Delta. She’s my favorite and just as adorable in this game as she is in the show.

SSR Detective Levi, summarization???? I kinda want to pull that card....but it depends first on its story asfgj thank you in advancee /^_^/
Then I'll do my best to summarise it well! I hope I managed to get to it before you actually pulled 😅
Tumblr media
The Devilgram is an AU, where MC has a detective agency, but all work they get with Levi are small and boring requests like finding a lost pet. They go to promote their agency with flyers and are approached by Satan who wants them to find his lost cat - he's a wealthy client worried someone might have noticed a jewel he put on the cat's neck.
They take the job and spot the cat. Then they get briefly stuck together trying to pursue it through a very narrow alley so a fanservice moment, but very short. The cat leads them around until it goes into the nearby haunted forest.
The forest is indeed creepy, with cold mist coming out of nowhere and Levi is scared. MC can scare him or offer him their jacket. Levi starts suspecting that there's something off with the cat as a domestic cat would be more cautious and this cat seems like it knows the area very well.
Suddenly Levi gets caught in a net, a trap in the middle of the forest. Depending on choices there might be a longer exchange, but if MC is brushing off or teasing Levi, it gets cut short. Why the trap is even there isn't explained and they just drop it without checking MC's suspicions.
The cat is though still there but as Levi attempts to catch i, it gets angry. Levi tries to reason with it but it's not working, but the cat either takes a bait or takes a liking to MC. So the cat is quickly secured and can go back to Satan. Satan rewards them very generously.
Levi and MC talk and MC can then suggest they match in more ways than just coworkers.
At the end another mystery is resolved, namely about the cat and the wealthy client and why the cat hasn't been behaving like a frightened domestic kitty, but it really didn't bring much either, they get informed and don't find out on their own.
But that's it. That's the Devilgram. Plot wise, it doesn't really offer any puzzle or case solving, it's just a chase after the cat, no actual detective stuff.
If you're looking for something more romantic with Levi, the Devilgram doesn't have much to offer either as MC and Levi aren't dating yet even. Only at the end they get together and kiss, if you choose so.
The game advertises the Devilgram as extra long on the Nightmare cover but most episodes seem like a normal Devilgram in terms of length - the only thing that makes it longer are branching choices. In general it seems like a normal SSR Devilgram and even if it's longer it doesn't exactly bring much more out of it. They just chase the cat.
If you want to collect the card anyway, you can try using an SSR voucher or two if you have some. These are useless otherwise as they don't have any guarantee drop and don't have raised odds for UR, only bring an SSR. So in this case they do the job without using up resources you might need for an UR later.

Not attempting to make a request, but I just started playing and I'm at the "whose hand do you take" part and I'm stuck between choosing Malleus, Azul, Idia, and Vil. Who do you think I should go with? I like Vil from an aesthetics perspective, I like Azul for his behavior and the fact he was the first character I encountered (on your blog actually) from TWST, with Idia it's a "gamers stick together" instinct, but Malleus I just want to reach up and give headpats to the poor guy and hope that if he goes yandere, he at least let's me do my own thing enough to roam a castle or something.
Wow.... I make people like TWST... I'm really honoured!
But let me give you some tips! Especially in the beginning you can mess up a lot. Like, a lot lot.
I get that you want to choose your favorite character but I really have to say don't. The game is long and either way you will get their ceremonial robes sooner or later. Luckily for you however, Malleus is a very good starter character. Give him those lollipops to munch on and level up his spell and general level. Tada! You got a very powerful mage. (But seriously, level those spells up. So many neglect that part and it can safe you!)
I know that you only asked about the first card you can get but... I will try to help you for your first SSR card, ok? I would highly recommend Trey. Now, you don't need to tale him but what I also highly recommend is NOT taking a character that has the same element twice. Idk how much u know about cards but every card has two spells. They can have one or two elements. Take a card with two elements! Please! I know what I'm talking about! I had Riddles SSR in my first acc and I got stuck. You will encounter a enemy whom one element won't do much damage. With two however you can be sure that you are somewhat more likely to defeat them.
And when I'm already telling you more than you asked for... do the history lessons, then the alchemy lessons (the one where u get the lollipops from) and the in last place flying class. But Veil, why? Why? Well so that you level up not too fast, unlock parts of the story too early, get stuck because you are still too weak and the loose interest. History lessons give less points when it's about leveling up your acc but you want the cards to be as good as possible before advancing.
When choosing a partner choose which type of card you have less. If you got more attack cards than defense then take a defense as support and the other way around if you are faced with the opposite situation.
Do not read the vignettes too fast unless you want to groovyfy a card. You will get diamonds from them and they are kinda like your secret piggyback. In the beginning you will be tempted to pull for every card. Belive me, keeping the vignettes unread until that "I WANT THEM ALL!!!" phase is over will safe you from a lot of pain later. (If you are very curious about the stories in them you can read them in the wiki. I recommend the unofficial one because you can navigate it better.)
Have I forgotten something? I don't think so.
Keep it slow and easy. No one is rushing you but moat important of all, have fun playing!
Ps: I'm on the phone so typos are most likely guaranteed. Sorry for that.

Hi I'm kinda stuck at Room Rank 25 for months now and the only mission I have left to do at that rank is "Obtain 120 points for any dorm" what does that mean exactly? (இ﹏இ`。) And I'm having a hard time collecting SSR dorm gems are there ways to increase the likelihood to get them or is it just based on luck? Thank you for your time and hard work!
"Obtain 120 points for any dorm" means you want to try to get the Dorm Points for any of the dorms over 120. When you open up the Comfort Level screen (bottom left coffee cup button on Guest Room screen) you'll see something like this at the bottom.
Tumblr media
Pick a dormitory and try to place as many furniture in the room as you have for that dormitory to reach 120 points. Different furniture have different point values, with SSR furniture having more points than SR or R. Remember that it's not a sum across all dorms, but 120 points for a single dorm.
SSR dorm gems are purely luck of the draw. You'll get the chance for higher drops the harder difficulty you do, but it doesn't guarantee a drop every time, unfortunately.

once again for those who asked i am saving for:
np5 moriarty
np6 moriarty (this is the big one, because this is the only one i can't guarantee with safety net. i have 4 safety nets worth of sq not needed for anyone else that he can go through without affecting my other rolls in a worst-case scenario, more than that and i'm in trouble)
crane
koyanskaya light
oberon
avalon
ruler skadi
i'm anticipating post-LB7 to get some really busted support kits to make up for having less banners so i'm just running on the assumption i'll need at least 1-2 SSRs in that time period.
np2 castoria would be nice but only if i can work out a safe time to do it
