personally i think the backlash coming from de-gothing gerry has less to do with peoples personal and differing headcanons and more to do with the fact that as soon as he was mentioned to be happy, people could no longer see him as goth. which is. Not Good. as a goth, there are very few examples of happy goths in media, because people subconsciously equate being goth with trauma or mental illness. and this isn't to say that people whose goth identity overlaps or is directly connected to their trauma or mental illness are wrong or invalid! It's actually the opposite. again, you can headcanon him however you want it's all up to you, but i have seen people saying that because he is happy there is no longer a need for him to have "badly dyed hair" or to be goth, as if these are universal indicators of someones happiness. i'd urge you to think about the implications of that.

the problem with young people now is that they feel their feelings will not be taken seriously if there is not a serious buzz word associated with it. you can be hurt by someone, made uncomfortable by someone, and be owed an apology by someone but that does not automatically make it “abuse” or “sexual assault”. just because it was not either of those things does not make your feelings or experience less valid.

Something I love about doing art is the detail. One time someone told me to stop being detail focused JUST so I could actually finish a project.
So here's a big ramble about details in my own art that make me smile:
Textures: :)))) I love going crazy on textures because when I zoom in later on I go “wow I forgot I put that there” and it’s silly and fun.
Story telling: I love seeing how much of a story I can tell in just one drawing, so I just cram in a bunch of references and details.
I was just talking to some other artists the other day about how fun obscure details are in art, and thought I'd blab about it on here. Ok that's all, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

stop doing this. stop it. stop. seriously. you know what this is? it's spam and it's a reportable offense on this site. if i wanted to see politics and news, i would not be looking for that in fandom tags. how is this a hard concept to understand?

(TBOTE + All In + THT are supposed to be like one long movie btw which is why I count them together)
Bonus points if you tag it with what you chose and when you watched the show (for example: when True Colors had just aired, or while Season 3b was airing, etc)

I get that a lot of ppl think that The ClosetTM wouldn't exist in the future and thus Spock would never be in one.
But it's implied, at least in TOS, that there are areas of Vulcan culture that are ironically more rigid than modern human cultures, most notably regarding sexuality and gender roles. It stands to reason that concepts of homosexuality could still be taboo on certain planets, the same way certain Future ProblemsTM in Star Trek are also taboo (and usually allegorical references to present-day issues).
Especially when factoring in shit like Amok Time and even the implications of Shore Leave, written by a queer dude who was frequently injecting *repressed* male sexuality into storylines (a defining characteristic of Spock in the original series).
I mean, it's legitimate to interpret him as an openly queer alien absolutely, but I feel like denying the opportunity to explore his struggles through a closeted lens limits the scope of queer topics that can be discussed by and through the character, especially given the fact that the climax of his character arc in The Motion Picture is Spock accepting himself and realizing that it is okay to love (everyone, but Captain Kirk in particular for some reason!). And I think it's okay to relate to the denial of his emotions in a very gay way.
I also think that there are misconceptions around closeted gay male behavior which adds to the funk of the issue. Anyway that's my gay guy ramble for the night

"It is fucked up that Bloodborne only has two and a half black people and Yamamura" is one of the most bewildering comments I've ever heard on Bloodborne tbh. Like, it had me genuinely stare into void for six minutes.
It is true that there aren't many people of color in Bloodborne, but Yharnam IS inspired by Victorian times Czechia, so it makes sense majority of characters are white? Still! We have Henryk and Suspicious Beggar, both with very brown skin and implied Loran descent (Loran having strong Egypt vibe too!). Yamamura is Japanese, for sure! We have a Yahar'gul Hunter found in the same underground prison as Yamamura that is a black man, and there are other Yahar'gul hunters who are black/brown that seem to be similar to Henryk's descent. Simon is lighter brown and shares face data with Djura's Apprentice! Djura's Ally is brown. Bestial Hunter has been transformed with.. well, beasthood, but from his face data we can get a hint he used to be a PoC too.
It is not that they're all suddenly "not important" except for three either! Not a fan of "this character doesn't count because no one cares about them uwu" mentality. From the looks of his fate, Yahar'gul Hunter from underground jail was a detractor from Yahar'gul like Antal, and might have helped Yamamura to run! You definitely remember the trio that ambushes you in Yahar'gul, each fighting in a unique way, where did the "they're polycule" takes go all of a sudden? Besides, over half of Yahar'gul hunters use Church weapons, they could have been the victims of starting repressions against foreigners, and unfortunately the ones visually foreign were the most vulnerable. Forced to work with the one guy that accepts EVERYONE as long as they're useful. (Also yes, a potential much more dark explanation for lacking PoC in Yharnam than it being inspired by Middle and Eastern Europe). Djura's friends are certainly important, they stayed by his side, and one of them even continues protecting the beasts after his death! Djura's Ally is even mentioned in Bloodborne's official guide as the one that aids Djura! Bestial Hunter is implied to have been the member (if not owner) of Oto Workshop that was BETA Powder Kegs! Soulsborne characters are often as interesting as the fans WANT them to be!
That's like 12 people of color, not 3! I think the thing we can agree on is absence of women of color. Yurie is a misinterpretation since Zullie datamined her (simply blonde with grey eyes) face data late and her name actually being Julie is not exactly a viral knowledge. With Eileen, she doesn't have face data and voice actors do not bind to any specific interpretation, but even if they did it would not explain why specifically English VA should be crowned as "canon" one. Why not French or German or Italian or Portuguese then? Why not Japanese original, after all? We weren't given female characters of color as far as canon goes, unfortunately, but personally I think Bloodborne is not THAT devoid. You just need to look beyond just the characters who have more evident dialogue and story, Soulsborne games like to tell their stories I silence!
