LJY found an old forum talking about wangxian. Like the people in that forum failed to make wangxian happen in the past. If i remember correctly, they tried to matchmake wangxian. hello i am thinking about ofmd.

queerness in piracy. the openness to the queer relationships aboard the revenge and the normalcy of it all. queer pda without judgement. without harassment. in fact, the opposite. queer pda with encouragement, joy, love, respect, excitement. further, the inclusion of people of color and of varying ethnic backgrounds. the respect and found family of the whole crew, without seeing differences in a time where differences were incredibly seen, present, and established as methods of othering.

no othering was done on board. the only othering was that of the people in power, those under the government’s watchful eye. or those who were nasty, cruel individuals who othered pirates, those who threw the first punch. and in those cases, dare i say, it is rightfully done.

i am not siding with pirates or with privateers, especially considering that this is a fictional show! and very clearly fiction, fun for being fun.

that said, ofmd brings an incredibly interesting reversal of good vs evil. the older i get, the more i begin to associate The Greater Beings with negativity and weakness, as they are in such high power places yet act so foolishly and with such little care. so yeah, the pirates winning is refreshing to me. it makes me happy.

it makes me happy to see people like me win. the outcasts, the queer, the ones who love more than they ever should and it comes to bite them. the ones who are cruel because they don’t know how to express softness. the ones who are unapologetically themselves, especially when they are objectively incredibly annoying and/or boring.

it makes me happy to see the character development, the small guy winning, the big guy losing.

is the show an accurate portrayal of piracy? fuck if i know! probably not! or maybe it is, and we have been victim to fearmongering anti piracy pro privateer propaganda since the golden age of piracy. i certainly do not have the qualifications to speak on the subject outside of my handful of facts that i randomly know, but i do have the qualifications as a queer person for the following:

it is refreshing to see so many queer couples on television. and, of those queer couples, they all are diverse. it isn’t a copy pasted mlm relationship, or a wlw relationship for shock and sex factor. it is a pompous man and his “lowlife” boyfriend, who help each other become the best versions of themselves, combining traits instead of replacing. it is an artist and a guy who just thinks art is cool. it is two traumatized people who lift each other up before anything else.

ofmd isn’t about historical accuracy, it is about bringing forth questions about the state of piracy as a criminal offense. were they as bad as everyone said? likely. were they loving and caring and soft like the show? unlikely! one thing that they both had in common is that they supplied a found family, one that is incomparable to other ways of living, as the crew becomes the only people you would know for long periods of time. ofmd is about finding yourself and loving others through it, forgiving yourself, and giving yourself the permission to change.

My thoughts on XO kitty

Spoilers ahead! But I think this is more fun with knowing a few things beforehand so proceed. ;)

I did not plan on watching this. As someone said it was marketed 'aggressively straight' and the trailer made it feel like the exact same american high school love drama centered around a perky but annoyingly self-centered girl we already got a thousand of times.

But then the spoilers reached me and the promise of a wlw romance, a bi character figuering out her sexuality, not one but two enemies to lovers plots, several unwelcome sex dreams and an end that leaves people fighting for what would be the better couple? There was no way around this one.

And I actually enjoyed it way more than I expected even then? Yes it's still very US-american, yes the main character is still super perky and egocentric for most of this (even if I felt like it started getting better over the course of the show and has potential to actually change during a potential second season?) but just the way they build up several compelling characters and character relationships while giving all of them a reason why they can't work?

I actually think it makes the story more interesting that there is no perfect match in this, everyone is interested in the person that makes the most sense for them to be interested in and is most interesting for us to watch.

So Daes story revolves completly around Kitty. He's majorly messing up from the beginning and while he is trying to find a way to fix it he just gets sucked in deeper and deeper. It was the most rewarding as a viewer to see him trying to undo his past mistakes and fight for what he had before while slowly losing it from his grip. You want to root for him because he's overall a great guy and because the first love and best friends that know everything about each other storyline is just very sweet but he did just a little too much wrong to keep this relationship alive and he slowly (very slowly) starts realising this.

Min Hos story also completly revolves around Kitty. We meet him as this super bitchy rich guy (I'm saying this with love) who's just a little too protective of his little circle and wants no one to interfere in his life at all. Kitty is the invader in his life and seeing him slowly getting soft for the exact person that keeps uprooting his life and keeps inserting themselves in his little friend group is incredible rewarding. And of course I understand people wanting him with kitty - but for kitty to just fall for him would be kinda boring in comparison? And fulfilling way too man clishees as well. Her story does not revolve around him, from her perspective this is an enemies to frenemies kinda situation that's completly in the background, and having Minho who went from bitchy to kinda accepting from her perspective suddenly have feelings for her is most likely not what she expects at all.

Kittys feelings for Yuri however, how out of the blue they may seem at first make way more sense in hindsight. This is who Kitty percieves as 'the enemy' (while Min Ho seems to be categorised as a mild annoyance at most) and her learning about not only first her attraction to the apparent enemy but then that Yuri did everything only to protect herself and is now in friend-territory and also not straight, while also having to deal with the fact that that means Kitty is also attracted to women?

Kittys story revolves around Yuri because she is the one keeping her from Dae, once she stops being that center point it's already too late and she becomes the center for Kitty for a completly different reason again. Plus she is connected to Kittys other big plot - the history of her mum and stays in her focus this way throughout the entire season.

But Yuris story (for once) doesn't revolve around Kitty at all - her story revolves around her relationship to her mother and the future for her and Juliana. Kitty is never the enemy in this, only an unwelcome annoyance that has to be dealt with to keep her plans alive. And yes, when Kitty helps her more and more and the two of them become friends there might or might not be developing something, but at this point it's simply not the focus of her story and not the most interesting part of her life for us.

And to be honest, for me there is not one pairing I want out of this for a second season but rather for the show to explore all those possible relationship dynamics more?

All of the potential pairings still seem possible and reasonable if the characters are willing to put in the work and I think that's actually a great starting point to move forward from.

I also hope that if there is a new season that it brings in even more people in the dynamic (not for kitty tho, she has enough potential live interests to deal with).

Also, very uncommon for me but I actually didn't really enjoy the side couple. While I enjoyed Qs character (aside from that he was way too easy on our 'the world revolves around me' MC) his relationship to Florian was too easy in comparison and lacked the emotional depth. Also the conflict is just was less important so far. (cheating on an exam? Really?) As an european being upset about this for any other reason than it potentially harming Florians future seems ridiculous.

All in all, I recommend watching this! It is so much fun and I hope for a second season.

(But yes, I did end up telling my screen repeatedly 'Oh babe, no! That's a stupid Idea, don't you notice? Please don't!')

Complaining about fanfic trends (the treatment of F/F vs M/M specifically). This will probably come off very petty. Also, related to smut, so mentions of explicit content ahead...

The corpus of fanfic borne out of the Goncharov meme is so telling to me re: a wider phenomenon that has bugged me for a long time. This is a fandom where it's 100% invented characters and invented storylines - all that is commonly agreed on is a rough list of characters, among whom are a F/F ship (Katya and Sofia) and a M/M ship (Andrey and Goncharov). There should be literally no difference in how the ships are treated - one set of characters is not written differently than the other in canon, because CANON HAS NEVER BEEN WRITTEN. But immediately, two very separate trends emerge in fic. Take a look at the stats on ao3:

Goncharov/Andrey (207 fics in total)

Katya/Sofia (257 in total)

For once, there are more F/F fics than M/M fics in a fandom. But yet, the proportion of mature and explicit works out of the entire corpus is totally different across the ships. For the M/M ship, mature works form 17,8% of the entire body; for F/F, it's 15,9%. For explicit fics it's 8,2% for the guys and 3,5% for the girls. A noticeable difference!

When you look closer at the tags, you will find that the M/M fic (especially the explicit stuff) deals with considerably heavier and kinkier stuff. You have BDSM, toxic relationships, lots of enemies to lovers. The F/F fic is mostly tenderness and yearning... (Also some threesomes with a guy as a third.) This also seems like a trend in the wider characterisation of the relationships in fic across the board as well as tumblr posts - A/G is an enemies to lovers relationship with a lot of passion and tension, while K/S is soft and tender.

... Which is completely okay! People write what they want, and evidently, the people hard at work writing fic (but in actuality worldbuilding and characterbuilding from scratch!) want to write the stuff I've described. It's not up to outsiders to police what others write, fanfic is a hobby.

BUT STILL. I'm fucking starving 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why are the wlw ships in fandom always either 1) background decorations 2) soft, sweet and pure 3) not really focused on the relationship but rather wider angst related to trauma (and usually trauma related to men). (I know it isnt actually always like this - the Rebecca fandom for example is doing great ajfjkskd.)

Can't I just want to read about absolutely toxic women being horrible to one another all on their own 😭😭 Or idk, just something super kinky. It's so frustrating that the trends centered around wlw ships always lean in the same tender direction EVEN WHEN NOTHING IN CANON POINTS THAT WAY. The tenderness isn't even earned a lot of the time!!! They don't even almost die due to their own mistakes!!!!!! They just meet and are very sweet about it. And like, I get the appeal of such stories, and I even enjoy them, but it's so frustrating when you want to read something toxic and it doesn't exist. 🤣 I would write more myself but none of my fandoms have those ships prebuilt and genderbends don't necessarily find a broad audience. So I just write and read M/M and occasionally lose my mind over an awesome F/F fic if I can find one. 😅

Shadow and Bone: Season 2 Review

Now that I’ve sat with my s2 feelings for a day, I want to put something a bit more coherent together.

Second seasons are always tricky. They tend to fall victim to a major quality drop; very often, a first season manages to be mindblowing and the second season falls completely flat. With how much I loved season 1, I spent the past year very afraid of what kind of quality season 2 might have.

The short of it: I was pleasantly surprised, I don’t think there was a quality drop, I think that quality-wise it was pretty much en-par with season 1.

Sadly, that does include the major flaw - cramming too much plot into too few episodes. Eight episodes are just not enough for just how much they make happen, watching it all is so overwhelming in how quickly everything happens and how nothing is allowed to breath because we have to rush to the next thing because we just don’t have the time to sit with anything. And that’s a shame.

At the very least they could have given this 10 episodes to allow it all to be loosened a little bit more, though I still think that this would have been the perfect jumping off point for a Six of Crows spin off and splitting the two major plotlines this season - the Shadow and Bone season 2 focusing on Alina’s story and giving the Crows their own spin-off. Simultaneous release and make them crossover, when Zoya and Tolya go visit the Crows and when the Crows come join SaB for the season finale, those interactions could have still happened, but I think there would have been less whiplash and more focus if the rest had been allowed to happen in two separate shows.

My favorite thing about this show has been and still is that it has great characters. The plot’s... questionable - I’m not gonna lie, I’m very happy they mixed the book series (despite what I literally just sad; I think it served s1 very well to mix them) - but the characters are so amazing? I’m the type of person who usually really latches onto one characters, that’s mine, and the others become secondary characters to my fave. I don’t think I’ve ever latched onto as many characters before.

I love and adore Aleksander so much, I don’t think I’ve ever felt this feral about and attached to a villain before in my life. Alina is the most compelling female lead I’ve met since Buffy Summers, honestly - she is strong, capable, soft, beautiful, amazing. I fell for Inej so very hard so quickly, she is so amazing. Jesper is absolutely brilliant, that balance of snark and soft coupled with canon bisexual. And I even latched onto Kaz in my own way, because his trauma-response in regards to touch made me project my asexuality onto him and there aren’t many characters that I headcanon as ace so I have a very, very soft spot for those characters in particular too.

That’s already more characters than usual and I genuinely that that would be it. I knew that season 2 would bring new characters and I had hoped they’d be nice additions but I actually grew unreasonably fond of them too.

Tolya and Tamar are absolutely amazing. I wish we could have had more focus on Tamar and particularly her romance - I didn’t like that the Tamar/Nadia basically only happened in the background, like I get that we are pressed for time, I do, but you are wasting so much time on so much straight relationship drama because this show is playing Noah’s Arc to degrees that are very rare to see outside of CW shows honestly, so it would have been nice if I had gotten at least a little focus on the one wlw ship on this show, especially since they did have great chemistry on their scenes together. And Tolya is adorable, the big, strong guy and then he loves poetry and I’m gone.

Nikolai actually makes me feel like someone tailor made that guy for me. The snark! The jokes! The insistence on not remembering Mal’s name! The high levels of chemistry with Alina and the fake marriage trope with Alina! He’s a pirate! He’s a prince! He’s handsome! He’s amazing! What can’t he do! Gotta love him.

Genuinely my favorite part really was on Nikolai’s pirate ship. I would have absolutely watched an entire season of Alina and Mal as parts of Nikolai’s crew. Just. Pirate stuff with Nikolai, Tolya, Tamar and Miradi.

I really thought I would be... disappointed this season. Maybe that’s why I’m not. Because I set my expectations incredibly low so they were hard to beat, but honestly? I genuinely enjoyed the season.

The costumes were absolutely stunning this season, the costume department went all out!

The new characters were great. The plot is still whatever to me, I have thoughts on that that may be worth a separate post at some point but the thoughts aren’t changes from season 1 so it’s not really impacted by season 2. Nothing in season 2 really did anything drastic that disappointed me plot-wise. Well, that’s maybe untrue, but... nothing disappointing in an unexpected manner, perhaps, would be a better way to put that?

Aside from maybe the book spoilers I knew, like that firebird thing. I read about that. I was expecting some epic shot, with an actual firebird, some cool reveal. Not an info-dump from Baghra, of all people. That was... anticlimactic. And it also honestly made no sense? In the books, Alina and Mal went and found the actual firebird, because they were looking for the firebird. Because Alina wanted to use the firebird as her amplifier. And then realized that Mal was the amplifier that would work for her. The show kind of... muddled that together and decided that Mal couldn’t find the firebird because he was the firebird. But he... he wasn’t? He wasn’t a bird, he may have been the amplifier, but he wasn’t the actual firebird. That was... weird, boring and also kind of illogical.

I do think the show’s biggest issue is its pacing. It’s like we’re running a sprint, but it’s actually the length of a marathon. I feel out of breath. Please slow down.

I liked the ending. The ending surprised me in a positive way. I did not see a corruption arc for Alina coming at all. I really didn’t. Been advocating for this since like episode 3, nobody told me there would be actual Alina corruption in canon so that’s a nice surprise. I like how this could be a final ending that would leave things open for interpretation while still wrapping up all major plotpoints, but it definitely invites season 3. A very sensible way to end a season when you write for a Netflix show and never know if you will be allowed to live or die.

Part 1

The pitter patter of the rain served as background noise for Y/N and Lisa who was sat on their couch munching on some cucumbers, eyes glued to the Kdrama playing on the TV. Y/N let out a dramatic sigh as she watches Ko Moonyoung and Moon Gangtae lock lips for the first time. The sound was not lost on her best friend who shot her a grin.

“Are you going all soft again, Y/N?”

Y/N rolled her eyes at the teasing tone in Lisa’s voice. This was not new as she was always on the receiving end of Lisa’s jokes about her being such a hopeless romantic. Though Lisa found this amusing about her best friend, she thinks there is strength in Y/N’s ability to believe in love after the shit her ex-girlfriend Suzy put her through. Could you really blame her? Being in love was without a doubt one of the best feelings in the world in Y/N’s book. For her, it was an overwhelming yet warm feeling that stretches throughout your whole body once it enters your life and leaves you feeling like you’re on top of the world (but its all fun and games until your partner cheats on you).

Despite this though, she was not in a hurry to find love. In fact, after the tragedy that was her last relationship, she just wanted to lie low and have fun for a while.

“Shut up. You’re lucky you’re in a stable relationship,” Y/N scoffs.

Lisa and her girlfriend Jennie have been together for 2 years now (3 years next month) and Y/N envied the love shared between the two.

“Don’t worry, Y/N. No one can resist you for too long,” Lisa tries to reassure her best friend, wrapping an arm around her.

Y/N grimaced, “Eh…I don’t really want anything serious at the moment. Especially after Suzy.”

That message was what lead Y/N to the 21st floor of Seoul Forest Trimage Towers, one of Seoul’s most luxurious and exclusive apartment complex, standing outside of Rosé’s penthouse two days later.

All the reasons not to go through with it and just leave came flooding in. Y/N can feel the soft panic growing inside her body as she wills herself to breathe in and out, not quite ready to ring the doorbell just yet. But before she could finish her fourth exhale, the door was opened to reveal the woman who has not left her mind ever since signing up for that damned site.

“I grew tired of watching you hyperventilate so I thought I’d do you a favor and open the door for you.”

Y/N almost choked on air as she looks at Rosé for the first time. The pictures on her profile did not do her justice at all. The woman could have graced every billboard or magazine in the city and she wouldn’t even question it.

Y/N did not say anything - did not know what to say. She was conscious of the smirking woman standing before her, dressed in a white dress that stopped just above her knees.

“Do you wanna come in, Y/N?” Rosé’s voice was dripping with amusement, eyebrows raised. Shyness wasn’t usually Y/N’s gig so what the hell was going on?

“Yeah, sure.”

Once she entered the threshold that Rosé called home, she immediately noticed how fancy and expensive everything was. She was immediately drawn to the large window overlooking the whole city. The glass was so clear that it looked like a high definition screen at the movie theatre.

Rosé quickly picked up on her fascination, grabbing hold of Y/N’s hand and leading her to the glass window. “Cool, huh? I picked this unit because of the view. The city below is so far away it's like another world. This penthouse is my cocoon and the window, well, the window shows me as much detail as I want to know.”

Y/N could only stare at their joined hands and then to the woman beside her, intoxicated by her words. “It’s beautiful, Rosé. I’d kill to wake up to this every way. You have great taste.”

“Yeah I do have great taste huh?” Rosé looked her up and down, biting her lip before chuckling. (Y/N swears she saw the gates of heaven open at the sound)

A few hours later after a candle lit dinner prepared by Rosé herself and a bottle of wine, Y/N finds herself straddled in the living room couch being kissed roughly on the neck as pure pleasure runs through her entire body.

“Fuck,” she pants as she feels Rosé grind on her. Unable to control herself anymore, Y/N holds Rosé’s head in her hands and pulls her into a fiery and passionate kiss.

“Someone couldn’t wait,” Rosé smiled against their lips.

With a laugh, Y/N pushed Rosé down on the couch, switching their positions, not breaking the kiss. Y/N’s hands slowly work their way around her body, tugging on Rosé’s dress.

“Off.”

Rosé sat up slightly, allowing Y/N to pull down the zipper of her dress, feeling skilled fingers unhook her bra. Rosé tears it off herself before reattaching their lips. Immediately, Y/N’s hands found itself on Rosé’s breasts as she tugged on her nipples.

Rosé gasps against her lips causing Y/N to pull away, making her way down and sucking on the skin surrounding Rosé’s breasts before soothing it out with her tongue.

“Jesus Christ, Y/N.” she hears Rosé trying to catch her breath. “I honestly wasn’t expecting you to take charge tonight.”

Rosé slowly sat up as Y/N leaves her place on top of her. “I guess you are.”

They both sat in silence as they picked up their clothes scattered on the floor before putting them back on. Rosé was the first one to break the ice as she reaches for her purse on the wooden table. It was at that moment Y/N remembered why she was even there in the first place. Disappointment stabbed through her like a knife. Somehow during the duration of the night, she made herself forget that she was there because of an agreement made online. As if she was there spending the night with a new lover, both milking the feeling of a love that just arrived. The night started out like a sweet melody of a blackbird -- full of promise, freshness, and newness to come. Now it sat like a cold cup of coffee waiting to be drained away. All of a sudden, she felt dirty and used and all she had to blame was herself. Rosé’s words from a few hours ago during dinner echoed through her head.

I signed up because I have no time for relationships. I’m just too busy for that. It saves me the hassle of meeting new people and having to get to know them, y’know?

And truthfully, no, Y/N didn’t know. She remembers Lisa telling her she loves like a puppy - devoted, playful, and trusting. So, no, Y/N didn’t know. She just didn’t roll the way Rosé rolled.

“Here you go,” Rosé reached out with a wad of cash in her hand. “Go treat yourself. You deserve it.”

It was the way Rosé said it, so confident and smug, that Y/N knew that she was not Rosé’s first rodeo. The woman sounded like she does it so often that she just didn’t care anymore.

“How many girls receive this same amount of cash?” Y/N laughs quietly and she hopes it didn’t sound as bitter as she felt.

“A couple a week,” Rosé grins so nonchalantly it makes Y/N stomach churn. “Why?”

“Nothing,” Y/N awkwardly shifts in her place on the couch. “Um, you really don’t need to. I’m not looking for cash.”

Rosé actually looked shocked at the girl’s statement. “I’m a little bit lost here.”

“I signed up because I was bored and curious not because I’m low on money,” she laughs keeping an unamused tone. “I really didn’t expect to reach this far ahead. So, you can keep your money Rosé.”

Y/N got up and started walking towards the door. She was halfway there when she felt Rosé grab her wrist.

“Why do you sound angry? Don’t act as if you didn’t know why I invited you here, Y/N.” Rosé looked at her confused. “We met through Seeking Arrangements for god’s sake. I thought we had a good time.”

Rosé did have a good time. Aside from the mind-blowing sex, she was impressed by Y/N’s ability to be present during a conversation, always having her own two cents to offer, which lead to a lot of fun and meaningful discourse all throughout dinner. She had never met a woman through that website as enchanting and beautiful as Y/N. Y/N was a smart woman who was good at sex and Rosé liked that. A lot. So why is she being difficult?

Rosé saw different emotions flash through Y/N’s face before settling on a look of defeat. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I did have a good time.”

Y/N stepped closer to Rosé. “I loved being here with you and money was never on my mind tonight. Maybe that’s why I reacted that way. I’m sorry. I joined Seeking Arrangements for fun because honestly…I was lonely and bored and looking for some sort of human connection and that’s what you gave me tonight. I just got lucky that you reached out. That was all I needed I promise.”

She offers Rosé a genuine smile before turning to leave once more. “Have a good rest of your night, Rosé.”

Y/N hears footsteps behind her as Rosé opens the door for her, a smile planted on her face. “You’re something else, Y/N.”

Before the door closes, Rosé speaks once more. “It’s Rosie now by the way.”

The last thing she saw was the woman throwing her a wink before the door finally closed.

A/N: This was fluffyyyy and I loved writing it, I hope I got the prompt lists right!

“You need to put on more sunscreen,” You chided, throwing the bottle of sunscreen at your girlfriend. She easily caught it and ignored you.

“I’ll be fine babe,” Maria tossed the sunscreen back in the bag. You rolled your eyes and took it back out, shrugging off your swimming robe and applying it on your arms.

“You’re one of the palest people I know. You’re gonna burn.” You advised, Maria shrugged and waited for you to finish.

After her last mission, you proposed going to the beach for a needed getaway. So, you flew from NYC to San Diego, California. It was almost 9, after sleeping in, you wanted to eat at the buffet in the hotel, but Maria dragged you into the downtown for shopping. 

When you finished breakfast, you walked around the downtown and bought each other swimsuits to wear at the beach later. Lunch came quicker than you had expected, after shopping for each other, you made your way to the beach. The day was coming to an end faster than you had expected.

Not that you were complaining, the brunette looked gorgeous in the swimsuit you’d bought her. But she had it covered up with a swimming robe from the hotel. Both of you made your way to the beach, selecting a spot away from everybody else but still near the hotel. 

You took off your robe and started to apply sunscreen. You wore a fav/color two-piece Maria had bought for you. It was more comfortable than you had expected. The initial discomfort of showing so much skin wore off when Maria started complimenting you on how good you looked.

After you finished applying sunscreen, your girlfriend leaned in for a quick kiss. Before you could deepen it, she pulled away and stood up. You whined at the loss of contact. Maria laughed and started setting up an umbrella and a beach mat to sit on. You spotted a stand selling sodas and told her you’d buy a few.

On your way back, you held two soda cans and two beer bottles in your hands, ignoring the other beachgoers staring at you. Maria was sitting in her robe, waiting for you under the umbrella. Once she spotted you, she smirked and got up, taking off her robe slowly.

The swimsuit was a simple, navy blue one-piece with cutouts near the stomach. It had thick straps and a low back, on anyone else it would have looked normal. On Maria, it made you lose all composure.

You almost dropped the drinks in surprise, clenching your jaw as you tried not to stare at your girlfriend. She was teasing you, taking off the swimsuit as if she was in a commercial, not that you had any complaints.

 “That was kind of hot.” You commented once you were close enough to the mat.

Maria smirked and laughed at your reaction.

After glaring at some guy who was staring at her, you saw down next to her. Your girlfriend noticed the effect she had on you, she smirked and reached a hand over you. The inside of her wrist brushed against your bare stomach as her arm reached over you. You blushed, turning to look at her in confusion. Maria giggled and revealed she was only getting her phone and a soda.

You glared at her, melting when she laughed and laid back on the mat. Glancing over at her, you noticed the background on her phone. It was a picture of both of you on your 1st anniversary. 

You'd gone to a fancy restaurant, it had been Maria's treat. After, you went back to your shared apartment and made a blanket fort. The picture was of you laying on Maria's shoulder, fast asleep. Behind you, there were polaroids of both of you over the years which you had printed out. Maria had a lovesick smile on her face as she watched you sleep.

“Am I your lock screen?” You asked, gesturing to her phone. The brunette’s eyes widened and she hid her phone instantly, looking away from you to hide her blush.

“You weren’t supposed to see that,” Maria muttered, you laughed.

“Then you tell me I’m sappy,” You giggled, playfully pushing her into the sand.

Maria raised an eyebrow at your action. You giggled in response, knowing she was going to retaliate, but before she could, you got up. The brunette glared at you playfully and got up. You started to run towards the ocean to escape her. Maria chased you in, laughing when you jumped into the ocean.

You let out a high pitched squeal when you realized the water was a lot colder than you expected. Maria laughed, her feet barely touching the water. Glaring at her, you put your hands in the water and splashed Maria. The shock on her face was worth it, her hair was completely soaked from where it had gotten splashed.

“Oh, you are getting it y/n,” Maria remarked, you grinned and continued splashing her.

The brunette waded into the water while shielding her eyes before splashing you. You laughed, trying to rub the water out of your eyes when you noticed the splashing had stopped. Confused, you looked around for her.

Something touched your ankle, you almost screamed before it pulled you into the water completely. Water engulfed you, salt blurring your eyes. You pushed yourself out of the water, standing up and rubbing your eyes.

Familiar laughter sounded from your side, you whipped your head around to see Maria completely soaked and laughing her head off. You glared at her and tried to tackle her in the water, but failing and sprawling in the sand instead.

You left to sunbathe, leaving Maria to swim for a bit before coming back to you. Maria eventually accepted the sunscreen when she noticed her skin starting to turn red. Even squirting some on your stomach when you teased her about it.

When the sun started to set, you suggested taking a walk on the beach since there were less people. Maria agreed and linked her hand with yours while walking on the beach. The cool water tickled your feet as you walked across the warm sand, feeling at peace.

“The getaway was a good idea.” You remarked, admiring the sunset.

Maria hummed next to you, pulling you to a stop when she noticed the sun was mere minutes from setting. You looked up at her, the soft sunlight highlighting her features as well as yours. The reflection of the sunset in her eyes and the way she was looking at you made you fall in love with her all over again

“I think I’m in love with you,” Maria whispered, hand resting on your neck as she tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.

“You better be,” You smirked, holding her hand on your cheek. “Cause I’m in love with you.”

Maria laughed, your face lit up in a grin as you leaned in. Everything felt right with the world when your lips met. You snaked your arms around her waist, your girlfriend’s hands finding their way into your hair to keep you close.

Even after pulling away from the kiss, she kept you close by. The brunette started swaying from side to side, dancing without music. You giggled at the feeling of her fingers stroking the base of your scalp. Maria leaned her forehead against yours, treasuring the feeling of you close to her.

It was moments like this that kept her going, you were her motivation. Maria would never admit how much she had fallen for you if you ever asked for her to leave her job and stay with you instead. Maria would agree in a heartbeat. You had her wrapped around your finger and she loved it. She loved you.

i'm gonna say smth a bit controversial tho n IF i ignored every writing choice, as in just forget abt what happens in each season i might flip kieutou's & mayla's places 😬 but solely from the personal preference regarding the dynamic, i think kieutou's dynamic was the best around the time of the roof clip bc fatou has idolized her so much n had this picture perfect view of her for so long n now kieu my had to go after fatou, that's kind of when fatou gained a lot of self respect n realized that just bc she's w the girl of her dreams doesn't mean she can be treated w disrespect n i feel like kieu my also realized that right then n started seeing fatou as someone she needs to actively make effort for (like she said usually guys just come to her n she doesn't have to do anything so this is the first time she probably sees that being the iconic n cool kiwu my isn't enough to keep up a relationship), that's also why i wish they had had less falling-outs bc then soon enough it was fatou again who had smth to apologize for which i didn't like at all :/ kieu my's status in their circles was/is just so much higher that i wish the apology cycle had ended when she was the one who had to apologize.

But the reason that isn't enough to knock kieutou down in the official rank is bc druck still wrote all those fights & apologies rly well n meaningfully so it didn't ruin the dynamic i just personally didn't like that it had to be done so many times
