*I wrote this with the idea that the reader is like preteen to teen, female and comes from an abusive/neglectful home life. So ⚠️Warning⚠️ sensitive topics ahead!

✨Albert "saves" you~

• The first time Albert ever saw you, it was while you were at the hardware store he works at, shopping for house paint with your father. (Who of course was making you carry everything, despite being twice your size himself.)

• Initially he didn't really think much about it, or you for that matter. But when you were trying desperately to haul everything up onto the counter, you'd dropped a paint can, which spilled paint everywhere.

• He would have been upset with you, if your father hadn't immediately backhanded you as of you were a grown adult. The sheer force sent you flying to the paint covered floor, where you wept softly while you father yelled and berated you.

• It was then that he noticed how malnourished you looked, how pale, and the bruises on your arms and legs. The lavender sundress you wore, clearly way to big for you, and filthy long before you fell into the paint. Albert wondered subconsciously when was the last time you'd eaten, or gone outside to play?

• He kicked your father out, and begrudgingly you along with him. Because despite himself he didn't want to see you suffering. So for the rest of the day he devised a plan, and within a week of stalking you and your family, Albert kidnapped you and locked you way in his basement.

• He'd even gone out of his way to clean up the basement a little, and put clean sheets on the musty mattress down there. He wasn't planning on hurting you like all the others, no no he was saving you! You just needed time to adjust to it, before he could move you to the spare bedroom upstairs he'd decorated just for you.

• The authorities actually didn't know about your disappearance until the school called. Your parents essentially just shrugged it off and told the cops you'd run away. So no one thought the infamous Grabber had snatched you. He only kidnapped boys after all.

• When you woke up to find Al watching you, sitting on the floor against the across the room. Initially you were startled of course, I mean who wouldn't be? But he spoke softly to you, assuring you that you were safe now. And you honestly believed him.

• He promised to return in a few hours with food and soda, and he kept his word. Bringing you a meal of baked linguini, which he had clearly picked up at a local restaurant. Along with your favorite soda, how did he know that was your favorite?

• When you inquired about it in a soft whisper, Albert couldn't help but chuckle behind his grinning mask, explaining that he wasn't a very good cook, but he wanted you to have a good first meal with him. He left out the fact of how he knew that was your favorite soda.

• Making smalltalk as he sat at the foot of the mattress, watching while you ate, you absentmindedly told him about how you're a fairly good cook. Stating about how your family always made you cook, clean, and maintain the house.

• Albert asked why you were so skinny then, if you were the one cooking. And you explained that your family kept you locked in a broom closet beneath the stairs when you weren't working. And you only ever got the scraps, and oftentimes expired or stale foods.

• That fact confirmed his suspensions about your home life, and it enraged him to say the least. You are a dream, a sweetheart, why would anyone hurt you? But he contained his anger as best he could, he didn't want to scare you after all.

• As the days went by, Albert made it a point to take care of you better than any of your family ever had. Al never wanted kids, still doesn't, but you become like a little sister to him. And he became someone you looked up to for protection.

• When Max was away Albert would let you come upstairs. And he'd let you bathe in peace and privacy, and also let you watch cartoons in the living room. He also provided you with new clothes, clothes that actually fit. And eventually he took down a TV and VCR for you, and a bunch of tapes. He didn't want you getting bored down there, when you had to be confined until Max left.

• Sometimes he'd even sit down there and watch the tapes with you, even bringing popcorn and candy for you both to munch on. It didn't matter what the movie was, he just enjoys seeing you happy and now much more healthy.

• He would show you all sorts of magic tricks, especially on days when you were sad, which was usually a result of having nightmares about your father taking you back, and locking you up in that musty broom closest. Al enjoys the sound of your laughter, and he smiles when you smile.

• Sometimes when you're feeling a bit more childish, due to not having a childhood, you play pretend with stuffed animals Albert brought you, and sometimes sometimes Al will play with you. He especially enjoys having tea parties, and it's the perfect time to show off his magic tricks.

• When it nears the time for you to move out of the basement, and into the room Albert has set up for you. He finally starts to visit you without his mask. The first time he took it off, he sat across from you and actually let you remove it. He figured it would be a good way to make you feel safe and comfortable.

• He was very pleased with how comfortable you'd become with him, with and without the mask. But the real thing that made Al so proud of you, was that you never once tried escaping, or been naughty in any way. You'd been very polite and proper the entire month and a half you'd been with him.

• When you finally met Max, you did as Albert asked you, and kept his little secret. Albert easily convinced his brother that you were a runaway that he found, and decided could stay with them. (Obviously not telling him how long you'd already been there.) And Max accepted his explanation without question.

• The room he moved you into was perfect in every single way. And he was so happy about how excited you got while examining everything within the room. That was the first time you hugged him, practically tackling him in a tight hug, which initially startled him, but he relaxed and hugged you back quickly.

• He knew you still needed an education, but he couldn't exactly enroll you in the public school, considering the county still thought you were a runaway. So he opted to homeschool you as best he could, which in turn took up all of his spare time. And the disappearances had suddenly stopped after you ran away. What a coincidence.

• One day when he was feeling particularly soft, Albert let you mess with his hair, which resulted in several braids with decorative beads and rings being put into his soft hair. He felt a little ridiculous of course, but you were so happy that he didn't mind it. Thank god Max wasn't home!

• You eventually take it upon yourself to try teaching Albert how to cook, which results in quite a bit of chaos in the kitchen, and a hell of a mess for you both to deal with in the end. But he's a fast learner when he's got such a great teacher assisting him.

• You also helped Max to sober up! And helped him to find a really awesome job, both of which Albert had thought were impossible.

• Samson of course took a liking to you, and often slept either at your feet, or in your bed with you, depending on what you were up to.

• Albert's lost count of how many times he's found you curled up with his dog like he was a big ol' teddy bear. Albert is also a teddy bear with you tbh, but no one say anything okay? Okay!

More serious than Griffin. He doesn't laugh when he says it. You're probably bothering him when he's doing something. If you're not, he's just saying it so he doesn't have to think about how absurd that it.

Bruce

"Yeah."

He says it in a chill way. He doesn't understand the question at all, but you're someone he cares about, so he'll say yeah. Then he figures you might be feeling insecure, so he asks if you're okay.

Robin

"Sure, I guess."

Depending on when you ask him, he's either too busy to care or just too confused to care. Like Vance, he's just trying to move past the question. But unlike Vance, he'll laugh when he replies.

Finney

"What?"

Does not understand the joke at all. He's so confused and just turns to you with the most puzzled expression ever. Why would you even ask that? What's he supposed to say?

Gwen

"Yeah, right."

She's sick of your nonsense. Sometimes she's in the mood for a joke, but those are usually of a different, more funny kind (in her opinion). She just wants what she needs to get done, done.

My Hugging Headcanons for the Casper Crew + Finn

Bruce Yamada

-expect bear hugs

-comes from a very openly affectionate family, so he likes to convey his feelings through physical affection

-he’ll keep you there for a minute, too, prepare yourself for that

-hella cliche, can and will pick you up and twirl you around if he hasn’t seen you in a while

-I head canon that Bruce isn’t all that great with words, like, there’s basic compliments and sentences, but I feel like he’s the type that believes that love can’t be expressed with words. So he’ll hold you and imagine that all of his love is being poured into a hug

Robin Arellano

-even tho i previously said that he doesn’t care who’s looking and he’ll be as affectionate with you as he pleases, I feel like that might not apply to hugs

-robin is very awkward with hugs but he likes touching you, so he’ll wrap an arm around your shoulders when you walk together

-if you aren’t and are just standing around, he’ll turn you to face him and just grab your hips, just keeps his hands there

-he actually loves putting his hands on your hips because he likes that he can be openly affectionate with you and still look cool

-he does give full-on hugs, but he feels like those are intimate, too intimate to be shared with the prying eyes of others. He’s a pretty small guy and he knows it, so to him, hugs are protective and private. Robin’s real hugs are very special

Billy “Paperboy” Showalter

-a lot like Robin, Paperboy isn’t one to hug you in public

-it’s not an intimacy thing, or a PDA thing, he could not give less of a shit about that

-but he correlates hugs to cuddles, so in his mind, if he’s gonna hug you, its gonna be an hours-long affair

-in public, if he wants a hug, but can’t cuddle you, he’ll just wrap an arm around your shoulder by its the closest he can get to having what he wants until y’all are alone

-when you’re alone, whether it’s at his house or yours, and he wants a hug, he’ll just drag you to a comfortable spot and y’all will cuddle until bodily needs overtake the sweet comfort of each other’s embrace, but seriously, clear your schedule bc you will not be moving for a very long time, don’t even try it

Griffin Stagg

-hugging is the most extreme form of PDA this boy can handle

-to him, hugging can be platonic and is ordinary to the public eye, so he doesn’t mind it, but he will end it if he feels like y’all are being watched

-his favorite way to hug you is to wrap his arms around your waist and across your lower back, which leaves room for you wrap your arms around your shoulders

-griffin knows he isn’t exactly the most affectionate boyfriend, whether its in public or not, so giving you hugs makes him feel like a better romantic partner

-it honestly looks kind of threatening because of the way he’s positioned with an arm caging you to his side and his mouth very close to your ear, it looks like he’s threatening you or whispering malicious things to you if not for your pleased smile and the fact that he’s not actively yelling at anyone

Finn Blake

-like Bruce, he likes to wrap his arms around you

-in public, he’ll maneuver you to tuck your head into his chest or neck and sway you until he decides he’s had his fill for the moment

-sometimes if you’re just standing around by your lockers or the Grab n’ Go, he’ll have you curled into his side with an arm around you, casual and unassuming

-in private, especially in his house, he likes to tuck his head into your neck instead. For a very long time, his home wasn’t a very safe and happy place for him and the changes that came with escaping the Grabber didn’t magically fix his bad memories of his childhood. So he’ll curl into you and find comfort in your soft warmth. A good amount of the time, private hugs end up turning into cuddle sessions where he lays onto top of you with his head on your chest so he can listen to your heartbeat

he cares abt you a lot which means nothing's happening to you. like at all

he's the toughest kid at school so most people don't even try

if they do though they're paying for it in the worst ways imaginable

someone says something even slightly rude to you? yea he's gonna make them fear for their life

he tried his best to keep his anger under control especially for you so most of the time he doesn't actually do much. they might get grabbed by the shoulders or thrown a bit but that's the least of what he usually does so it's better than the other option

when they test him however he's SERIOUS

pretty sure brady confirmed him to be a sociopath and that if you mess w him he comes back worse

so yea you're basically safe from pretty much everything

other than being an absolute menace to everyone around that he thinks might cause you an ounce of any kind of harm he's genuinely really sweet towards you

maybe not exactly romantic simply bc he's a little awkward (he doesn't get into many romantic relationships due to his habits of threatening people daily) but it'll be clear he favors you over others

he'll let you wear his jacket every once in a while just bc the happiness it gives you makes him even happier than you are (even if the scowl on his face doesn't show it)

Okay so Finney is ok with Pda as long as no one makes fun of the two of you.

Pda would be really cute because if you two held hands together, Finney would grab your hand tight, but gentle as if someone would take you away from him

You and Finney do Movie Nights for sure!!

If you fall asleep in the middle of the movie, he would carefully put a blanket around you and shut off the tv so you could sleep in peace

I feel like he would give you space, rather than staying with you.. but if you fell asleep in his shoulder or with your head on his knee or something, he‘d let you sleep and stay with you

You two could communicate without even saying a word. You would sit across each other from class and while Finney shot you some glances you knew what he was saying immediately. The same goes for you.

If you get hurt because of someone he‘d be livid but calm on the outside. He would take care of you and then let his guard dog Robin out to fuck that mf up who hurt you

You of course will take care of him as well and patch him up if he got beat by some Bully ass.

And if you‘re a really tough person might even throw some punches to anyone that hurts him. Of course only if you are the person for it

If you ran into a glass door or fell off your bike he would still patch you up if needed

You have to be at his baseball games. He feels much more confident when you‘re there

He teaches you baseball 100% and practices with you if you are also up to it

Dating Finney is really amazing and he will give you so many great memories

You never get into fights

He would definitely give you long hugs before saying goodbye, even if you two would see each other the next day

Because you date Finn, you are also very close to his sister

If someone stole your fruit snacks in school he would ask around the class for gummies or alternatives and gift everything he gathered to you

A/N: Y'all...I don't know how I ended up writing this, but I actually really like it. Sorry if there's any typos, I wrote this whole thing in like a day (that's a record for me). And I apologize if anything seems out of character, it's really hard to write for Vance since he had like six minutes of screen time, so like 75% is based on head canons. Anyways, this is already too long, so I hope you enjoy the fic!!! Happy belated New Years!!! 🥰

You looked into the mirror, your critical reflection staring back at you. You looked like a mess. You sighed loudly, letting your face fall into your hands.

"My god, why the hell do I care so much?" You complained to yourself. After all, you were just going to hang out with your best friend...it's not like you hadn't done this a million times before.

Right?

No.

For some reason, this time was different. It all started after school. You met up with, Vance, your best friend after class. Although this wasn't unusual, you did this every day. Vance was extra quiet, which concerned you cause he usually never shut his mouth.

You asked him if he was okay. He shrugged in response, avoiding eye contact.

"Actually, can I ask you something" He huffed.

You said yes, and he proceeded to ask you if you wanted to go rollerskating with him after school.

"I know it's stupid, you don't have to say yes." You remember him saying.

"Of course I'll go, why would I say no?" You replied

"I don't know...I just thought never mind, see ya later." He said before turning to walk the other way.

You spent the whole walk home, and several hours after thinking about how weird the exchange was.

Why was he so nervous? You had never known Vance Hopper to be nervous about anything. It wasn't unusual for you to hang out after school...in fact you did almost every Friday.

Maybe it wasn't just a regular hang out to him, maybe he wanted it to be something more.

You thought about how Vance seemed to have a soft spot for you. Of course the boy had anger issues, he couldn't go a week without getting into a fight, sometimes even with his friends.

But with all the times you had gotten on his nerves, or done something that should make him angry, he had never lost his temper on you.

You used to brush that off as simply a friendship thing. After all, most people don't like to fight with their best friends, but maybe...you weren't just his best friend. You didn't know why but that thought made your heart skip a beat.

You decided to push the thoughts aside as you got ready to leave.

But now you found yourself sitting here, with a knot in your stomach. You looked at the clock next to your bed and realized you had to get going, so you gave your hair one last comb through, put on your shoes, and headed out the door.

The roller rink was within walking distance of your house, as were most places in your small town.

The wind whipped through your hair, making the extra brushing you had done pointless. You sighed in annoyance and continued walking.

When you finally approached the florescent lights of the roller rink you saw Vance waiting near the entrance.

You quickly combed your fingers through your hair, and walked up to him.

"Hey." you said happily.

"Finally, what took so long? I've been waiting here for like twenty minutes." Vance complained, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I think someone needs to learn some patience." You snapped.

"Shut up, asshole." He shoved you slightly, a small smile tugging at his lips.

You mindlessly grabbed his hand and pulled him through the door. The place was crowded, as to be expected, it was a Friday night after all. The music was at full volume, the bass echoing off the walls of the building.

You looked down and realized you were still holding Vance's hand, you shook it off and shoved your hand in your pocket nervously.

You saw Vance side eye you, and he looked almost embarrassed...

"Come on, let's go rent some skates." He said, beginning to walk towards the front desk.

After the two of you paid for your skates you put them on, and made your way over to the rink.

"Is now a bad time to mention that I've never been skating before?" You said nervously, this was something that hadn't crossed your mind until now.

"Seriously?" Vance said, rolling his eyes.

You smiled sheepishly, blushing slightly.

"It's easy, here, I'll show you how." Vance exclaimed as he stepped into the rink. He extended his left hand, and you took it.

As you stepped onto the rink, it felt like you were standing on a giant slippery magnet and your shoes were made of metal.

It was a fight to stay on your feet as you held on to Vance's hand for dear life.

"Oh my god, how the hell do people do this." you complained.

"Well you've gotta stop moving around so much." he said in annoyance, taking his remaining arm and wrapping it around your waist to support you. You felt your heart rate increase as he did this, and you realized this was the first time you had ever been this close to him.

Despite the nervousness you were feeling from the fact that you could barely stand, his presence seemed to calm you.

"Isn't moving around what you're supposed to do?" you shoot back.

"Ugh, shut up and just listen to me." He snapped, tightening his grip on your waist.

you stopped moving, and regained your balance. You took a deep breath and tried to move forward, you rolled a couple feet without error.

"There you go." Vance said letting go of your waist.

You began to feel confident and sped up.

"Do you think I can let go now?" Vance asked as he loosed his grip on your hand.

"Yeah...yeah I think so." You didn't want to admit it, but you would've held his hand longer. Although, not because you needed it for balance.

As he let go you decided to skate ahead of Vance. In overconfidence you decided to turn around so you could face him.

"Hey look I'm-" You started, but you lost balance again and rolled straight into Vance.

He instinctively reached his arms out and caught you, preventing you from falling flat on your face. You gripped his shoulders tightly, as he was the only reason you were standing upright. You looked up and found your face inches from his.

Your face turned red with embarrassment.

"Sorry." You mumbled.

He smiled softly, his icy blue eyes pouring into yours. And for a moment you thought he was going to kiss you.

"Move it, love birds." Some guy yelled at the two of you. You tore your eyes away from Vance's, and realized that you had been totally blocking people's path.

"We are moving, asshole." Vance yelled.

You moved forward and faced the front again, balancing yourself. You grabbed Vance's hand and intertwined your fingers. He looked at you, slightly confused.

"I think I'll need this for a little while longer." you said softly.

The two of you spent the next hour skating and talking, without a care in the world.

When you were done, you put up your skates and headed out the door. The early spring air was perfect, not too warm and not too cold. You took a deep breath and took in your surroundings.

"Wanna take a walk?" Vance asked, running a hand through his messy blonde curls.

"Always." you replied.

You followed him as he walked towards the park. The two of you walked in silence, which was uncommon. The park was pretty much empty due to the time of day. A few dim streetlights illuminated the sidewalk, making it easy to see where you were going.

"Here, do you want to sit down." you suggested as you approached a bench.

He agreed and sat down next to you.

"So..." he began, turning to face you.

"So?" you replied with a smile.

"Listen...there's something I've gotta say." Vance began. He took your hands in both of his, and you hoped he was going to say what you were thinking.

"We've known each other for a long time...and...I...oh my god this is fucking stupid I don't know what I'm doing." He sighed, this was one of the few times you had seen him falter. He always knew what he wanted to say or do, and seeing him be so unsure was a strange experience.

"Vance." you said, removing your hands from his and reaching up to cup his face.

His breath hitched as you made contact, and he looked down at you. There was a moment of silence as you contemplated your next choice of words.

You took that moment to study his every feature. The way his eyes looked at you with pure admiration, the few blonde curls that had fallen over his face, his slightly parted lips.

Well...you thought to yourself, actions do speak louder than words.

You took a leap of faith and connected your lips with his. The kiss was soft and short, but your lips seemed to fit together perfectly like two pieces of a puzzle.

When you parted, you couldn't find any words to fill the silence.

"I think you read my mind." Vance chuckled.

"Yeah..I'm good about that, with you at least." You said, looking towards the ground, trying to hide your beet red face.

"Hey." Vance whispered. He brushed his fingers under your chin, and tilted your head up to face him. He softly touched his thumb to your lips before tackling you with a second kiss.

This kiss was harsh, passionate, and just better overall. He placed his hands on opposite sides of your face. You rested your head in his hands, increasing the effect of the kiss.

You broke apart slowly, and continued to lean into him.

"I should be getting home soon." You said reluctantly.

"That's okay, I'll walk you." Vance offered as he stood up.

You rose from your seat and stood next to him. He put an arm around your waist, and the two of you began to walk down the sidewalk.

You couldn't help but smile to yourself, this had been a real date after all.

Dating Vance Headcanons

Okay, I'm going to be straight with you; Vance is an arsehole. All of his scenes in the movie are him being an arsehole and having anger issues. Vance is self-entitled; he knows he's the best at pinball and will physically attack anyone who dares mess up his score. He is not - I repeat, he is not - going to go soft and gentle around you. It's just not who he is.

However, he does like you, so he will be a tad bit nicer to you. And by that, I mean he won't punch you in the face. He'll hold back on the bullying. But don't mess up his pinball game. Don't do that.

So, you can probably tell I don't think highly of Vance as a boyfriend. I don't hate him or anything (not at all!), it's just that, like... Look at him. He is in need of therapy, not a partner. No offense to you, of course! If he likes you he wants you around, for sure. He just needs to take care of himself beforehand. If this guy asks you out that means he doesn't hate you, so he's probably less likely to bully you. So, I highly recommend nicely hinting that he needs to work on himself more before dating you. Please, for your own sake.

Okay, now that that is over, let's start on the fun stuff. Now, assuming that Vance is currently working on himself and has been for a while (which I don't really know how that happened) he'd be a bit of a better person. That means no automatically hitting/hurting people when they mess up stuff in his life. Sure, he still gets into fights all the time, but it's not instinct.

He will, however, gladly kick someone to the ground if they talk smack about you or your relationship. And by kick them to the ground I mean nearly kill them. Vance is not taking anything from nobody. You will have to stop him if you don't want him getting arrested (again).

Also, Vance is not a sweetheart. He will not buy you roses. He will not stutter when talking to you. He will not do any of that. You know what he will do? Avoid you. This man is acting like you have cooties. You'd think he hates you, and rightfully so. It's because he gets nervous around you. He doesn't let it show, but he has butterflies (and he hates it).

Surprisingly, though, once he gets help the relationship isn't too bad. There are ups and downs, but in the end he does put in an effort for you. Crazy, right? And you'd be insane if you didn't put in effort for him. After all, it's not every day you get someone like Vance to like you.

Vance makes time for you. Outside of his schedule of being at school and the Grab n Go, he likes to be with you. Of course, some of this time is spent watching him play pinball silently at the very Grab n Go I just mentioned, but I digress. Other time is spent wandering around town or hanging out at your place.

Vance especially likes your place over his. I headcanon his home life is pretty rough; his father is a drunk like Terrence Blake, and although he actually has his mother around, she feels powerless to do anything and has no job. So, Vance likes to get out of there by going over to yours.

The only problem is his younger sister. She's a toddler, and there's no way he's leaving her at home alone with a situation like his. So, he takes her with him to yours. And this leads to my next point; you better be good with kids. Vance does care about some people, albeit very few. And his sister is one of them. So, if you can't handle her well, then it's going to get rough.

I feel like Vance is the kind of kid to sneak out at night to visit you. Not in some romantic 'oh I missed you so much!' way (or at least he will never put it that way), but more like a 'I'm bored and feeling rebellious so I'm going to go pester you' way. He just knocks on your window in the dead of night and scares the living crap out of you. He just welcomes himself in and settles down in your room without a care.

Okay, well, with some care. He tells you to shut up so he doesn't get caught.

Alright, now onto PDA. Quick version: Vance doesn't like it. Longer version: Vance is touch starved, but he's also got an image to keep. If he's going to stay intimidating while still having a partner then he needs to restrict the lovey-dovey stuff as much as possible. So, that means so PDA at all. Also, it just makes him uncomfortable, despite the fact that he also kind of likes it.

He doesn't even like it in private. Even if he's crying he will refuse a hug from you. It just feels foreign to him, to say the least. He got it from his mother when he was younger, but other than that he's got nothing.

Oh, and by the way, he is never crying in front of you if he can help it. He's got toxic masculinity ingrained into his brain (like, c'mon, it's the '70s). It makes him feel, for lack of a better word, weak. It's the belief he was brought up with, and now it just feels stuck with him. If he were to cry in front of you, he'd try his absolute best to stop it. And if he can't, then he just tells you to go away.

He'd love it if you'd tutor him. I can't remember if he gets bad grades or not (damn the wikis for not having any info on him), but if I remember correctly he does. He doesn't make it obvious that he appreciates it (hasn't really gotten to that stage yet), but he makes up for it by getting you a drink or snack you like at the Grab n Go for free.

Actually, he makes up for most of the stuff you do that way. His main love languages are acts of service and gifts, so it makes sense he'd do that. Vance isn't a boy who's good with word, so just doing things it a lot easier for him. Plus, he can cater it to your tastes to ensure he doesn't mess up.

In conclusion, Vance is a deeply troubled young man. He's going to need a good amount of therapy before he can even think of having a healthy relationship with you. And even once he does get that, he's going to be very quiet. He's not one for big romantic gestures - in fact, he hates it. But he does like you, so he shows his affection through other means. But remember; this is still Vance, and you can easily take all that progress away. So, be careful and be good.
