Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 205 Thoughts. 

AND IT’S YUKI TSUKUMO WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!

So this week we continue with more fighting, however rather than the powers and strategies used in the fight itself, let’s look at the two special grade sorcerers fighting Tsukumo Yuki and Kenjaku. The matchups in Jujutsu Kaisen are not just about power levels, often the characters fighting foil one another in some way, so let’s analyze Kenjaku and Yuki the old school and new school sorcerers. 

1. Thinking outside the Box

Considering half of this chapter is Tsukumo and Kenjaku analyzing each other’s strategies and cursed techniques before either of them throw the first punch to the point where the above image has their faces exactly aligned like they’re the left and right lobes of the same brain. 

This happens every time Kenjaku and Yuki interact, down to the first time we see them meet in canon. Despite the fact they are clearly on opposing sides, they discuss their plans and theories like they are a pair of colleagues aruging with each other rather than on opposite sides of the battlefield. 

Besides the fact that they have completely different ideas on what they think (the next stage of humanity) should be, they still talk and pick apart the holes in each other’s plans. Yuki grasps immediately that if Kenjaku were to try to optimize cursed energy, the people around the world would start targeting sorcerers as sources of cursed energy because they are almost exclusive to Japan. 

She in effect predicts a part of Kenjaku’s plan far ahead of time, his going overseas to get world superpowers interested in harnessing energy from cursed sorcerers in Japan. Whatever Kenjaku’s actual objective is with introducing armies from foreign nations into the culling games, Tsukumo was able to predict the inevitable next stage of his plan through sheer guesswork. 

On top of that, Kenjaku himself comments that he and Tsukumo think similiarly and that makes him happy because and this is just supposition he believes that few sorcerers in history have ever truly looked at the world the way he did. 

The most famous appearance we have of Kenjaku in history is when he took Noritoshi Kamo’s body, and was reviled by the world around him for his experimentation with cursed energy. Living a thousand years body hopping he has been a social pariah for a long time, for good reason.

 Kenjaku himself does not make social connections, and does not usually care at all for the thoughts and feelings of other people. He sees everyone as tools for furthering whatever result of his experiment he wants to bring about, and seems to judge people on whether they catch his interest or not. The fact that Tsukumo Yuki intrigues him when he dismisses his own children as boring is definitely something. 

What unites their thinking is most lilely that they are both outsiders to the current world around them, seeking to bring about a change, though they obviously have opposite ideas of what that change might be. Yuki is similar to Kenjaku in the fact that she is a big picture thinker who is less concerned about the individual lives of people involved in her plans. 

Yuki warns the main characters themselves that she’s not on their side. She also says that as a special grade she could have intervened and acted sooner, but she chose not to at the consequence of everything else. Considering that Kenjaku reconfigures Tenge’s barrier into a movie theatre, both of them tend to act as watchers from the outside rather than direct players. 

They are like scientists observing the result of an experiment and therefore they minimize their involvement until absolutely necessary. Though, I’m sure the people who died in Shibuya aren’t really appreciative of the fact that Tsukumo didn’t play her hand sooner because she wanted to watch what happened next. Not that I’m saying it’s her fault directly but she herself admits she could and should have done something earlier and holding back to just watch was a mistake on her part. 

She also at one point casually considers researching Toji as a test subject. Part of me wonders what that experiment would have been, considering that her ambition to change the whole world is probably more important in her mind than the life of one person. 

However, Yuki at least seems to have some morals whereas Kenjaku is literally amoral ( driven by no sense of right and wrong or moral standard everything he does is just based upon his own personal desires and objectives), Yuki takes a firm stance against the senseless sacrifice of life. 

2. Eros and Thanatos 

Yuki and Kenjaku also oppose each other thematically, Yuki is a character surrounded by symbolism associated with life and the proliferation and preservation of life, whereas death haunts Kenjaku’s character itself where he may be a force of death itself bringing tragedy and destruction to the lives surrounding the main characters. 

In Freudian Psychoanalytic theory, we would call this Thanatos and Eros.  

With the publication of the book “Beyond the Pleasure Principal” in 1920, Freud concluded that all instincts fall into one of two major classes: life drives and death drives - later dubbed Eros and Thanatos by other psychologists. Eros was the god of love, fertility and passion in ancient Greece. Thanatos was the human manifestation of Death. [X]

Yuki is painted many ways as the Eros of the story, it all starts with her question. “What kind of girls are you into?” Both her and her student Todo constantly interrogate others about this question, and this question itself is symbolic of Libido, while her cursed energy makes little hearts. 

In psychoanalysis Libido is the energy of sexual drive as a component of the life instinct. Quite simply, in order for all human life to continue people have to reproduce so early, early psychology theorizes that sex drive is influenced by psychological factors. Aoi even goes onto explain this question in basically terms of the Freudian idea of libido, that a person’s attraction to others is influenced by personality. Regardless of if this is actually true in real life or not, Megumi himself shows that his own personality has an influence in the kind of person he’s seeking a relationship with, because he wants a compassionate person. 

Aoi just like Yuki is surrounded by ‘Life” symbolism. Todo explains cursed energy to Yuji in cooking metaphors (you have to eat in order to survive) he loves passionate people and takes no interest in people who are boring / have no passion for life. Food, love, sex, passions are all things that make life worth living. 

Todo is also the most cooperative of all the Jujutsu Sorcerers as shown in his teamwork with Yuji, because the social cooperation that humans are capable of is also considered to be part of the life drive. Humans are a social species, no man is an island as they say, they have to cooperate together in society in order to survive. Yuki herself unlike Kenjaku cooperates with allies including Larue a former member of Geto’s family that has hearts on their nipples (recurring heart symbolism again). 

When Kenjaku tries to paint Yuji as the center of all that disaster and death brought upon the world, then Choso corrects him and says that Kenjaku is the one who brings death to everyone around him, a symbolic bringer of death himself like a Grim Reaper or a Shinigami. 

Kenjaku is surrounded by death symbolism, he  is literally inhabiting a dead body as we speak. His nine children are named after the Death Paintings, which are named after the Kusozu (Nine Phase Diagram) , a budhist serious of nine paintings that depict the stages of death and decomposition of a corpse. 

Kenjaku may seem like a life giver, because he is a single mother of one Yuji Itadori, and father to the Death Paintings, but what he does is actually a perversion of life. Succesful procreation requires that your children after all, he abandons the Death Painting Sibs to death, and sets up Yuji as a sacrifice to die. Even the curse painting sibs themselves aren’t properly born, they all in their cursed womb forms look like aborted fetuses in the nine month stages of fetal growth, which probably gives you a hint of how they came out of the mother. 

Kenjaku prolongs his own life at the cost of other lives, he kills people and steals their bodies, and does the same for the resurrection of old sorcerers they have completely overtaken a host body in order to continue living for the culling games. 

The death drive being the opposite of the life drive, drives people towards risky behavior, death, destruction. Which fits Kenjaku as his whole goal itself is to create risks, trying to bring something unexpected into the world. 

The ultimate irony in Kenjaku is that while his goal seems to be creating something new, a future he can’t see beyond the chaos, a cursed spirit with an unexpected face, he himself is incapable of creation his methods are just destruction. He creates children and then abanons them when they disappoint him, he creates Yuji just to die. He is a perversion of motherhood, and he is a perversion of a creator too. He doesn’t create so much as destroy what is already there, recklessly, hoping that will lead to something new. 

Yet, death is one half of life. 

 Everything life positive (love, social cooperation, etc. etc) is done by human beings, and everything that creates death (murder, violence, self-destructive behavior, addiction, risk taking) is also done by humans as well they make up two aspects of human lives. All humans want to live, and yet all humans also are aware no matter what they do they may someday die.

Which is why despite having opposite goals, Yuki and Kenjaku exist as two sides of the same coin.

What I really lile about sessrin (both platonically with little rin and how I hope that canon romatical sessrin turn out to be) is that they are really soulmates, Rin is maybe the only one that actually come to know Sesshomaru and loves him regardless of his power or his status (besides Jaken lol, bit is obvious that there is a difference between the love that Rin has/will have for Sess and the fanaticism that Jaken has for him) and she would be there for him as long as fate let them be together giving him that unconditional love while Rin is for Sess like a new experience, a journey thet he hopes never ends and that he will treasure for his eternity and that is probably what brings the most "human" and emotional side of the powerfull demon. Frisk and Chara

Chara, the first fallen child, just lile many had been taken in by the Dreemur family. She isnt evil but some bad things do happen to her. This will be explained more with Asriel.

Frisk is kind of the same though much more withdrawn. Especially after Chara started to take over. She becomes scared and nervous, unsure of what she can even do.

Asriel/Flowey

Flowey in this AU isnt like other Floweys. He cant do much of anything due to the situation other then watch it happen and just remember everything like Sans. He actually HAS his SOUL but he is unable to tap into it more then what it takes just to survive.

Back when Asriel and Chara were working to try and break the barrier a stray human Wizard who had gotten trapped there attacked them. Chara ended up dying more angry at the world then she had already been and Asriel was struck down with a curse by the Wizard. Making him the talking flower he is today.

Savanna

Savanna has to do continues quite a bit because as soon as she believes the genocide run is over Frisk/Chara try to kill monsters

She protects them as best she can but a lot of times gets killed because of her actions and has to continue from her last save

Frisk/Chara's reset abilities are linked to Savannas after she fell into the underground at the time they did so they can not reset either

Their goal is to try and get Savanna to quit

Which would for it them the control and they could do what they wish to the timeline

This universe Sans is very aware of things and knows something is wrong when he keeps having the dejavu of the continues from a save point instead of an actual reset. Very observant and ends up remembering more then he wants to.

He is a bit spicier in attitude and can be sarcastic a lot and he drinks hot sauce ketchup.

Papyrus

Papyrus is actually in the royal guard. He is second in command to Undyne.

He has done a lot of training and has kept some innocence even after all he has seen but he is very popular and looked up to by those younger then him

He truly lives up to the name "THE GREAT PAPYRUS"

He will fight as a last resort but if he does be prepared for a good one.

He will NOT hesitate to kill someone he sees as a threat to monsters and his brother.

Undyne and Alphys

Undyne is the same yet she actually knows how to cook and is very smart. She helps Alphys with her science stuff.

Undyne and Alphys are already a couple.

Alphys is more confident then her OG version.

Alphys did in fact make the Amagalamates in this AU but it wasn't her fault. It seems one of the lab assistants that had been there, and were fired with vigor by Undyne, had miscalculated some formula for those who Alphys was trying to help. which ended up giving them far more DT then she was trying to creating the Amagalamates. The families were informed and some had returned to their families while a few stayed there having no where else to go. She has to sass them sometimes because they get in her way but other then that they dont cause much trouble other then leaving messes all over her lab or messing with equipment out of curiosity.

Asgore and Toriel

Toriel and Asgore are pretty much close to canon, though broke up cause they both blamed each other for the disappearance of Chara and Asriel. Asgore himself has hid himself away in his castle to try and figure out what went wrong while Toriel fled to the Ruins to get away from it all. Sans is the only one who is allowed to visit her, she only opens the door to the ruins for him to come in and talk over tea and pie.

I see them as ultimate besties and kinda bro/sis bond (because of Lance acting like Matt and Pidge whose attidude to him reminds me about me and my brother so much (i mean I love him and I can punch him slightly whenever I want but if someone else tries to offend him I’ll kick their ass in one second). I see a lot of potential of them rather helping each other in love life than being lovers themselves?

I get where the popularity of romantic Plance comes from and get the point of it. That’s popular trope when people like ships like: woah that guy hits only on stereotypical beautiful girls it would be cool if he suddenly understood he is in love with his best friend and see the girl in her. That’s like the main base of fanon Plance I figured out from metas and stuff. But.. idk talking about canon Plance it’s all just.. um, not very romantically coded? I mean yeah maybe Plance would look appropriately in the show (people are talking about it being canon in the end though?) if they managed to give them at least one single joined scene when they have to deal at least slightly with each other’s inner problems. Basically Plance has just one joined scene with them both alone (at Space mall) and idk for me it looked like the most platonic scene ever xD I’m just that excited if we go to the mall with my friend and see some store of stylish home decorations or smth, or going to the movies together on some Harry Potter so we just can’t keep our inner nerds inside. It was so familiar for me :D

Even if they’re going to make it canon, i don’t know if one season is really enough to show it in the way it would look nice and could be explained? For me at least, I want to remind that I respect all the shippers and say only my own thoughts. The reason is - in all, in 98% of art, animatics and other plance stuff I’ve ever seen everything is based on smth like: woah, shit I think he is cute, I’m falling for him because he is cute and funny; and woah she is so cute and my best friend, how have I never seen it before, I think I’m falling in love with her because she is cute and with cute smile. I swear most of what I’ve seen has this trope as a base and.. have I already say that this kind of otP is absolutely not my cup of tea and never will be?

I don’t like when characters are idk fall in love from the first sight or just fall in love because they suddenly understood he/she is cute at some point? I try to principally avoid this while choosing my otps because I’ve never been into it and never will be. I love when love grows from smth and when the main focus is on this - from mutual support, from help, from sincerity. When characters trust each other enough to tell their secrets to each other, when they have influence on each others arcs. I’ve already brought up my perfect formula of OtP - in which situation characters can be interesting as possible lovers for me.

Intimacy and mutual support. Yes they support each other no doubts, care for each other and ready to protect each other at all cost (just like all other palladins) but I’ve never seen Pidge helping Lance to understand he is needed and he is not the seventh wheel in the team. I’ve never seen Lance caring about Matt or how upset Pidge was while she tried to find him. About her becoming confident. They’ve never interacted on that level, never even tried to interact, always staying best friends and not stepping to the inner problems. They both interact mostly with mask of each other and not something that’s behind it.

Next, the possibility to grow to the better. Idk but they always seemed too similar to me, there’s very little things they can learn from each other. Yes Pidge can learn Lance science and stuff but I mean specifically the temperament and character. That’s why I rarely ship best friends kinda - i love when there’s enough similarities and differences so the relationship can be balanced. Maybe Plance has it but it was never enough for me (especially talking about canon only, without fanon).

And lemme say just one extremely subjective thing xD I  LOVE ANGST. It kinda sounds like coming out almost but YEAH I LOVE ANGST. And I can’t see it in Plance, not enough for me at least. The most angsty thing I heard about is Pidge crushing on Lance while he doesn’t see a girl in her and for me it’s just.. eh? I want to see something more than my biggest problems in 7th grade please? I know I’m cheating so much with Shidge because every single ship with Shiro is meant to have a damn bunch of angst but whatever xD I need my drama, where’s ma drama, where’s my intimacy and sharing of the deepest secrets??  Personal, just personal preferences guys sorry I was born like this.

So yeah that’s why I adore their bond so much but just in bro way because as I’ve already explained, their canon interactions bever stepped too far in each other’s arcs so it would be enough for me to ship them romantically. I still love fanon Plance very much, I love the Plance fandom and shippers who are very nice peeps, I lile how much love Plance shippers put in their ship and yet respect the others (I know many plancers who follow me and like my Shidge art and I love you guys so much

so i need to know what are certian things you see in illya others dont? does he fear anything? does he wish to redo anything? what is his relationship with solo & teller now? does he still see himself as a monster? how do you canon his sexuality and kgb training? is more attuned to uncle or the kgb? has he seen his parents ever again? does he lile to travel, if so best place he traveled? what was the one thing he got in trouble for the most as a child? who does he look up to?

          thank you so much for sending this in!  I love questions like this and don’t get the opportunity to answer them very often.  while I can’t say that I definitively see things in illya that other people definitely don’t  –  I do flatter myself that I’ve put an enormous amount of thought into his character and understand him pretty well, so I’m really excited to delve into all of these things!

does he fear anything?

          illya is very, very human, despite what some might think.  (see: solo’s initial comments to his superior officer after that first chase with him.)  he certainly has fears, although death isn’t among them ;  he’d much rather die with honor than live with shame.  for the most part, he’s been desensitized to fears the way most people see them, as part of his kgb training, because ultimately the goal is for these agents to have very little for their enemies to hold over their heads / threaten them with.  that said, his superiors, as exhibited in the film, actively fed illya’s single deepest fear:  ending up like his father.  in a way, I think that fear was partially artificially created by the institution which got its claws into him at an incredibly young age ;  even before his official kgb training, he attended ‘exclusive’ schools closely monitored by the government and was fed propaganda which eventually morphed his opinion of both himself and his country, which we see later.

          illya has very little concern for his own self-preservation and clearly quite a low self-image, in that he sees himself as little more than a cog in the soviet machine.  shame on himself is shame on his country  –  and perhaps more importantly than that, shame on his family.  his mother remains a deeply important part of his life and I think that he fears for her reputation as well.  solo brings up his mother’s reputation in the movie  –  and I think illya’s rage has less to do with how his father’s friends saw her and more with the fact that these were things she had to do in order to keep herself and her young son afloat.  he never wants to put her in the same position his father did, and the idea of shaming himself and compromising her in the process is also a great fear of his.  all other fears, in comparison, are inconsequential.

does he wish to redo anything?

          I’m not sure illya has ever felt like he has the sort of autonomy to be able to wish this.  even later on in life, when he’s been given the opportunity to step back from the soviets, join u.n.c.l.e., and eventually retire, even after he comes to terms with the fact that he didn’t deserve what they did to him, he realizes that things could not have ended up any other way.  he was too young to have had the opportunity to make a choice when they got their hands on him, and by the time he’s deep into the kgb, it was simply too dangerous to try to leave  –  and he has his mother to think about.  fortunately, u.n.c.l.e. provided him some relief and eventually he gets to leave spying entirely, but when it comes to wishing he could redo things?

          honestly there’s the occasional moment he wishes he could relive.  he wishes he could say something else to someone he likes, instead of being his awkward self.  he wishes he would have used a different move in a fight or a different interrogation tactic in a particular moment.  but when it comes to overarching themes of his life?  there’s not much he feels he could have done differently even if he wanted to.

what is his relationship with solo & teller now?

          I can honestly say that every dynamic I’ve ever imagined or rped with others has me convinced that, despite occasional roadblocks, illya grows to deeply care for both solo and teller more than anyone he’s ever cared for in his life, except perhaps his mother.  you see those relationships growing in the duration of the film, but illya  …  well, frankly, he’s never had anything like a functional family, nor people he feels actually care about him.  his relationship with gaby obviously progresses more quickly in the film  –  in that he’s willing to even voice his concern about her to solo later on and he’s very soft with her particularly in their last one on one scene  –  but I think that solo returning his watch is a real turning point in their relationship.  obviously, they’ve grown to care in some capacity about each other and they’re in a place where they won’t leave each other behind.  illya definitely feels some level of camaraderie with solo even before this moment.  but until then, he’s absolutely planning on killing solo for the disc.  sure, illya is aware that solo was, more or less, saving his own skin in that moment  –  but the fact that solo a) remembered the significance of the watch, b) considered that even as they were storming that island and c) thought enough of it to both recognize and take back the watch to begin with, is more thoughtfulness by far than illya is used to, despite the motivations of the exact moment in which he returns it.

          the following scene, in which they burn the disc, is by far the most egregious breach of orders illya has ever committed, but not only is he unwilling to destroy this relationship he’s built up, no matter how tenuous it remains, he’s also fully aware of the implications of either the u.s.a. or soviet union getting their hands on that disk.

          I can only imagine those strange yet strong bonds deepen with each mission.  regardless of any romantic connections, which largely rely on my rp partners, he would die for either of them, whether or not they feel the same.  he’s never had a dynamic support system like the one they offer, and frankly, I think waverly, to some extent, is included in this as well.  as far as illya is concerned, even if only on a subconscious level, this is the closest thing he’s had since childhood to a real family and he’ll do anything to protect that.

does he still see himself as a monster?

          yes and no.  having functional and meaningful relationships with other people, as we see him developing at the end of tmfu, certainly helps him understand his humanity outside of what the kgb expects of him.  I think he will always be somewhat ashamed of some of the things he’s done  –  and alarmingly blasé about others  –  and he’s certainly, to some extent, broken for the rest of his life, but having gaby and solo in his life absolutely helps him rebuild at least some of his opinion of himself, allowing him to see more than just a monster or a machine, because they help him see more than that, too.

          I haven’t written much about his relationship with waverly either  …  but I’m fairly convinced that the human way in which waverly treats them  ( shitty sarcastic jokes and all )  helps a great deal with this recovery process as well.  the way his soviet handler speaks to him is alarmingly awful, and even though waverly pokes dry fun at both the boys at almost all times, I have a hard time believing he wouldn’t be a far more empathetic boss than illya is used to  –  likely checking in on their well being, as he did for gaby, and just generally being  …  a pleasant superior in the harsh world of intelligence.  specifically I headcanon that waverly learns everything he can about illya’s skills and encourages him to use all of them, particularly those that aren’t connected to his physical prowess and rather to his intellectual side, which I think is often underutilized and underestimated by others.

how do you headcanon his sexuality and kgb training?

          since I don’t have time to go into his whole kgb training, I’m just going to kind of  …  do this as a ‘how did his training affect his sexuality’ even though I don’t know if that’s how it’s meant.  it’s really quite simple:  russia has never felt great about homosexuality, so although he’s always been attracted to men, it’s always something he’s vehemently ignored and tried to move past.  it’s been drilled into him over and over that same sex attraction is a bad thing  –  and furthermore that the government won’t hesitate to hurt him over it.  it’s something that makes him feel dirty and wrong for a very long time, at least until he’s a little more freed from their expectations.

          illya has been aware of his attraction to both men and women since he was in his mid-teens.  do I think he was ever punished for it?  no, because he’s always been quiet, cautious, and watchful.  I don’t think he’s ever told anybody up until  ( and frankly past )  tmfu canon, because before he ever had the chance to trust anyone enough to reveal it, he saw what happened to those who did and were found out.  within the ranks, it could be brutal and it put him off ever vocalizing his feelings, encouraging him instead to hold those urges back for years.

          in this way, u.n.c.l.e. serves yet another healthy purpose for him.  it gives him just a little more freedom to explore himself  –  and furthermore, an environment in which to do it.  I’m a big subscriber to the napoleon / illya ship and I actually don’t think that illya had much, if any, experience with men before he and solo started their thing  –  which again varies depending on who I’m rping with / what situation I’m thinking of.  this is something he’s repressed for a very long time, and no matter what, it takes time for him to be comfortable with his sexuality.  I also can’t get on board with the initial solo / illya hate-fucking that I see a lot, even though I really wish I could, mostly because I think that illya would absolutely have to learn to trust solo long before he’d be willing to engage with him sexually  --  because he’s terrified of the repercussions and what the russians would do to him, his mother, and his reputation as a result if they found out.

is he more attuned to u.n.c.l.e. or the kgb?

          I think that, at first, he’d like to think it’s the kgb, but he’s always been more attuned to u.n.c.l.e.  I’ve explained many of the reasons why further up in this post, but it basically comes down to the fact that u.n.c.l.e. offers him a camaraderie that the kgb never has and the people he works with in the organization actually care about him as a human being rather than just a weapon.

has he seen his parents ever again?

          he never saw his father after he was shipped off to siberia when illya was a child.  however, as for his mother, he did actually grow up with her still around and he maintains a pretty good relationship with her, although he doesn’t care for the man she eventually chose to remarry, who was a friend of his father’s.  he talks to her somewhat regularly and spends holidays with her when he can, although often he ends up being away and simply sends her a present.  he loves his mother very much and will always be available for her, no matter what.

does he like to travel?  if so, what’s the best place he’s ever traveled?

          this is another ‘yes and no’ question.  he’s spent the majority of his career traveling and I think that he has questionable memories in the majority of the world.  he equates a lot of his traveling experience with his profession and that’s not necessarily a good thing for his opinion of it.  however, he’s also an academic and he does love to visit certain locations around the world when he can.  he loves germany.  he loves vienna.  he loves egypt and scotland and croatia.  he didn’t initially like paris at all but he’s grown to truly appreciate it over the years.

          after his retirement, I think he finds much more peace in traveling for himself and thus will enjoy it more.  however, as for his favorite place, I headcanon that he purchases land sometime during his career in the black forest of western germany, a few miles outside a small town, in a very picturesque location where he can essentially just  ...  disappear.  the mystery and lore and beauty of that area just  ...  fits him wonderfully.  I think he’d want a place outside of russia in addition to his moscow flat, which he visits less and less as he gets older, and the entire area is just so lovely and fairly isolated and would give him an opportunity to really live his best life.  it’s not so much traveling, as he would live there, but it would certainly be his favorite place.  it’s peaceful and beautiful and honestly waht he deserves.

what was the one thing he in trouble for the most as a child?

          he was largely a very well behaved child, especially after his father was taken away, and I don’t think he got into pretty much any trouble after his father was taken to the gulag, because it scared him too much.  he was also always a very quiet boy without too many friends and certainly not prone to being disruptive or careless or really even particularly reckless.  ( even the recklessness we see in the film is typically very calculated. )  as a schoolchild, I think he used to get in trouble for a) not engaging well with other children and b) probably trying to read while the teacher taught, on occasion.

          when the ‘ psychotic episodes ’ began  ...  that was a different story.  I think that he unwittingly hurt several fellow students and was subsequently sent to reform / military schools.  nobody really did much to help what was happening to him and instead the government eventually took advantage of this part of him.  he has them largely under control now, but it’s still something that continues to haunt him  --  and that he continues to struggle with regularly, as we see.

who does he look up to?

          illya’s past is  ...  almost devoid of any role models, when you really think about it.  his superiors were almost always fairly cruel, and while he respected them and strove to please, I don’t really think he looked up to them.  he once looked up to his father, but that faded once he was sent off ;  frankly, his father broke his heart and betrayed him, and while he still holds love for him in his heart, I wouldn’t say he looks up to him.

          in his youth, I think that illya was guided largely by the heroes of russian literature, in the absence of anyone of flesh and blood.  grigoriy pechorin of lermontov’s a hero of our time.  pierre bezukhov of tolstoy’s war and peace.  ( oddly )  rodion raskolnikov of dostoyevsky’s crime and punishment.  university had an excellent influence on him, however, as the professors he encountered there gave him an opportunity to look up to real people, and he remains in contact particularly with his mentors from his graduate and doctorate programs, as often as he can.  university was the first time when he connected with people he felt were interested in mentoring him, rather than simply controlling him, and it was a very positive experience for him.

          I also believe that he eventually develops a real respect and admiration for waverly as a superior officer.  waverly, who is intelligent, often kind, but also firm.  waverly, who grows to understand illya’s humor more quickly than others do.  waverly, the first superior in his life who genuinely ends up being kind to him.  in his life as a spy, this relationship ends up providing him the most guidance and confidence, eventually.

Pokemon & romance (or rather the lack of it)

Look at Yokai Watch please. Also a show for kids, does little-to-no character development, with less overreaching plot, and yet...

... we have some pretty intense scenes/gags in here. Not just “shippy” but actually canon. That’s one of my fave from the show so far and it really shows that among all the silliness or the lack of regularly progressing plot... there are actually some fucked up psychological/relationship model moments (perhaps it’s even a bit of nice development? not yet sure). Keita, you are absolutely not normal in that regard and also... she actually likes it when you’re being an idiot!

See, there are a lot of fun things SM Satoshi owns to Amano Keita but if at some point in the future of Pokemon Satoshi was finally allowed to be involved in some small romantic situations/gags... and I mean real romance, not fandom “ships” or one sided artificial ‘crush’ (looking at you Serena!)... then that would be amazing! Maybe I would actually start to like his character more and stop seeing him as a vessel for non-romantic (and sometimes pretty dry) pokemon love. Also, such a shift would most likely open much more possibilities for some cool Rocketshippy moments/dialogues - far more interesting and fresh rather than highly ambiguous Rocketshippy frames or great moments as we know them from Rocketshippy history of the show. Starting with SM, the TV series already allows for wedding and marriage between the main supportive characters so... that’s a start towards something interesting, I guess? Although, it must be said: I would dislike it if Musashi and Kojiro got some sort of “romantic plotline” and if Rocketshipping actually became canon (or some sort of a big focus/end game). For many reasons but mainly:

1. Team Rocket is pretty philosophical and symbolic, on so many levels. I find it fitting that different people can view them both as friends or a couple. In any case, they’re already eternal partners and that makes it even more impactful. I like it that it’s left ambiguous and remains of no essential importance.

2. Making it canon wouldn’t make sense except just for the sake of it. Even more, it’s very likely the writers would butcher something in weird ways just to craft such a storyline all of a sudden. It’s like they are already together (except for some crisis episodes like “I have a silly period/fantasy for something”, usually Musashi, and it’s a kids show so it’s understandable) + they really don’t need to marry. They’re free spirits, such traditions don’t bound them except if they do it as a motto when they see fit.

So yeah, I would gladly see more romantic plots or Rocketshipping in Pokemon, although not to get too serious, because I wouldn’t like to see Rocketshipping become canon or get any sort of sudden ‘plotline development’ which would feel kind of silly and forced. Even dumb, especially that they’ve been together for so long. Unless it’s done brilliantly and extraordinarily, semi-silly with some semi-symbolical undertones and perhaps also a bit ambiguous in a way that I can’t even imagine... but that’s unlikely, right?

In any case, whether we discuss Satoshi or Rockets, back at the start of SM... I remember many people being concerned Pokemon would shift to become more lile Yokai Watch which would ruin it because Yokai = just dumb for kids without plot and all that. But... the truth is... while it’s important for Pokemon to remain Pokemon... you actually want for it to become a bit more like Yokai Watch in many many areas (and believe me when I say that SM anime doesn't come even close to that). What would be the benefits of it becoming more like Yokai Watch in these areas? Well... making it more fun, less predictable and unlocking all the tabu Pokemon anime generally doesn’t touch. In that case: some ongoing romance and pretty amazing gags/character features.

Canon Five Brothers Facts:

Because I am bored and stuck with a headcold.

To be clear, I'm referring to my canon TES timeline with all my OCs, and Trechire's five sons: Fennorian, Rinyu, Mavos, Sunnabela, and Kirr.

Straight Facts:

Fennorian and Rinyu have always been close, ever since Rinyu was the one who uncovered the truth about Fenn. Rinyu was the one who pushed to bring Fenn into the family, despite Trechire being mortified that Raveoov would finally find Fenn and lure him into necromancy. But Rinyu loved having a brother, a grown brother, and trusted Fenn's judgement. In the end, Fenn did resist Raveoov's attempts, and is now a happy part of the family.

The OG crew was Fenn, Rinyu, and Bastian. When "Blackwood" took place, Rinyu had just gotten Fenn to stick around, and the two explored Cryodiil together just for kicks. They met Bastian, and recruited him into their group. It was just three dudes riding around and having fun for the next ten years- after the whole invasion thing ended, of course.

When Mavos was born, Fenn and Rinyu begged Trechire to let him be raised in Tamriel, not on Artaeum like Rinyu had. Both even promised they'd stay around 24/7 to help protect him if need be. Trechire finally caved- she can never resist for too long if multiple sons give her puppy eyes- and Mavos was raised in Rimmen.

Mavos was the first of Trechire's sons to be raised somewhat "normally", which was ironic considering he's a demigod. He was in full contact with his grandparents, his brothers, his mother, and got to have a childhood among other children. He lacked a father figure, but that didn't seem to bother him much.

Upon becoming an adult, Mavos was more like their mother than any of the other boys. He liked his privacy, and often choose to be alone for hours or even days at a time, only to pop back into family gatherings like nothing happened. He would normally either be with their mother or on Artaeum.

Mavos heavily considered becoming a lycan like Trechire, or vamperic like his two brothers. In the end, Aithilo, his other half brother, convinced him not too.

Mavos always loved Aithilo and honestly treated him like a warped father/brother figure. Aithilo was always...unsure of what to feel. Trechire had been like a godchild to him, and looking upon Mavos only reminded him that his blood father had, as Aithilo put it, "taken advantage of the Vestige in her weakest moments". He didn't blame Mavos, just it was always a touch jarring. Especially when Mavos became able to read prophecies.

By the time Sunny and Kirr came into play, all three older brothers were seasoned like their mother- ya know, with emotional trauma due to the world ending multiple times but they were there with a huge band-aide to fix it. This is the exact opposite of what Trechire wanted but she had no control.

Rinyu was worst off, due to Jagar Tharn. By the events of "Oblivion" he had only just begun to "heal". Fenn and Mavos had been worried sick for decades, unable to help as their brother had drifted in and out of just...it was just bad.

When Sunny was returned to them, the entire family was overjoyed, even Rinyu. It was the most unexpected moment, even if Aithilo and Mavos had both forseen it. Even they had refused to believe it. Rinyu came out of his funk, ready to again play protector if need be, like he had w ith Mavos.

By now, Eliindil had married Trechire, so Sunny did immediately have a father figure.

Who then became Sheogorath near a year later.

And then Kirr came along the year after, the demiprince.

Sunny had no trouble being raised in the Isles partially, then also in Tamriel. His and Kirr's lives consisted of travel, being raised by their parents in the Shivering Isles, and then babysat by their brothers wherever they happened to be.

They even got to be on Artaeum sometimes, though Mavos soon insisted against that as he didn't lile the way some Psijics treated Kirr.

Kirr grew to become a demiprince that could inspire great creative breakthroughs, in all sorts of studies or hobbies, just by being in his company.

Sadly this was a double edged sword, as while so many mortals would quickly grow in thier skill or passion when with him, Kirr had to go at a normal pace. It frustrated him to no end.

For this reason Sunny never played the lute around him, no matter how many bursts if inspiration he got. He would stay and talk to Kirr about whatever Kirr wanted to talk about.

Sunnabela is a patient, intelligent, and relaxed mer. He is considerate, observant, and puts his family before himself. Its worried Rinyu for a while, as he's watched closely. While Fenn was the eldest, it was Rinyu who had first made them a true "family". He had been just like Sunny once. He knew exactly what sort of pressure the mer would place on himself if given the chance.

And that chance came as Sunny, again like Rinyu, was revealed to be Dragonborn.

At first Rinyu was selfish. He didn't react, and chose to ignore whatever trouble Sunny and Kirr faced on their path through Skyrim. He didn't want the pressure again. He had served his time as a hero, had everything taken from him and torn apart. He could rest now- it was Sunny's turn.

But when Kirr betrayed Sunny, taking the staff of Magnus and leaving Sunny trapped behind in the dungeon, Rinyu realized what he had done. Kirr had acted out of frustration and a thirst to be validated, just as Rinyu had when he had first engaged his Tharn relatives.

Kirr didn't leave Sunny to die, just kept him at bay so Kirr could play the only hero, and force the Psijics to respect him after he saved the College. He fully planned on coming back to release Sunny after.

Rinyu found Sunny first, and the two made it to the College just as Kirr lost control as Ancano became basically untouchable. He was drawing the inspiration and breakthrough buff from Kirr and using it against him, which Kirr hadn't taken into account could happen.

Rinyu defeated Ancano, and everything was made right. Kirr apologized, Sunny apologized, Rinyu apologized, there were a lot of apologizes.

They departed the College in a party of four- Rinyu, Inigo, Sunny, and Kirr. All ready to face Alduin and the rest of what Skyrim had in store for them.

As for what Fenn and Mavos were doing around this time:

Fenn was the Head of the Ravenwatch, and now had full time duties with them. He visited when he could, but otherwise stayed in touch via letters or message stones.

THEY REALLY ARE, and I love it so much, because honestly---

Part of what makes them appeal to me so much as a ship is how equal and balanced their relationship is. Although Misty was the more experienced trainer at the start, and therefore acted as a coach for him throughout Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto, there was never so much of a gap between them that you could feel it come across in their interactions. In terms of training and battling with pokémon, yes, but in terms of how they regarded and treated one another? No. There was never, not even for one second, a real maturity gap between them. They’ve always come at each other as equals, and this shows even in how they approach the (very obvious) crushes they have on one another.

Take, for instance, the fact that Ash is always trying to show off to Misty, in order to get her to be impressed with him. He has been doing this since OS003, in which he bragged after sending Caterpie into battle against Pidgeotto, and then bragged about Pidgeotto’s subsequent capture (after he followed Misty’s advice and swapped Caterpie for Pikachu). Now, obviously Misty was not impressed by Ash then (quite the opposite), but the fact remains that Ash was trying to impress her. And he tries this again, and again, and again as the series goes on. Even in at least one of her AG cameos (Mirage Kingdom, I think?) he was trying to act impressive about the fact that he got an invitation, and only strong trainers did, until Misty pointed out that she was invited as well. And even in this one, so many years later, Ash still acts smug and then thrilled when Misty says that he has gotten stronger, only to be quite put out a second later when she says that, well, he’s still childish, though. (And then he tries to show off his Z-Ring again in the episode tag . . . he just so badly wants to impress her, he so wants it!) Ash’s crush on Misty partially manifests in his desire to impress her, to showboat in front of her, to really awe her and make her think that he is just the coolest. Her opinion of him really, really matters to him; it’s important to him that she, specifically, thinks he’s awesome.

But on the other hand, Ash’s opinion of Misty doesn’t matter as much. Yes, of course she cares about his opinion to some extent, but Misty has never tried to impress Ash the way that he tries to impress her. She doesn’t showboat for him in specific, and when she does things like dress up or buy cute clothes, it’s always made clear that this is something she’s doing for herself, because she likes them, not because she wants to impress him or look cute for him. Misty has confidence in herself that is in no way dependent on Ash’s opinion of her. While her crush on him is undeniable, she doesn’t need validation from him to know that she’s cute, beautiful, strong, et cetera. Those compliments are nice, and she understandably gets mad if he insults her (which doesn’t happen anymore, and tbh it’s often the opposite), but she doesn’t ask after validation from him the way he does of her. 

And this is a reversal that I’ve always really liked, because so often you’ll see the female character striving to get the male character to notice her, and with these two it’s the opposite. Ash really, really wants Misty’s approval and admiration, but Misty doesn’t give that out so easily, she doesn’t let his ego get the better of him (particularly in early Kanto, where he was completely clueless). And Misty, conversely, has confidence in herself that she’s “the world’s greatest beauty!” that doesn’t depend on whether Ash agrees with her or not. She knows who she is, she knows what she’s about. And while her claims to be “the world’s greatest beauty” are a bit of a defense mechanism boast (because her sisters used to bully her with “three Sensational Sisters and one runt” line), she still doesn’t strive for Ash’s attention or approval. It would be nice, particularly since he is the one she likes (canon confirmed in Revelation Lugia / The Power of One, and reaffirmed in Chronicles), but she doesn’t strive for it the way Ash strives for her attention.

But at the same time, we see them reciprocate in many of the same ways as well! We see them both get jealous over each other at different points; Ash is most obviously jealous when Misty has her precocious crush on Danny, but he similarly acts jealous and distracted over Rudi lavishing affection on her as well. Misty gets jealous about Melody flirting with Ash, shows similar shock and jealousy over the kiss that Bianca / Latias bestows on him, and likewise, gets pretty defensive and jealous over Macey as well. In fact, while Ash’s crush manifests in his desire to impress and showboat in front of her, I would say that Misty’s crush manifests in her protectiveness over him, whether she’s protecting him from external threats (e.g. when she thought Ritchie had sabotaged him during the Kanto League), or whether she’s trying to bat away other potential suitors (e.g. Macey). They also both blush and get defensive over the insinuation that they have crushes on each other as well, such as when they both blushed and denied Team Rocket’s assertions that they eloped near the beginning of the Orange Islands season.

And yes, their banter really does play into it as well, because both Ash and Misty have always bantered on equal grounds. While it’s true that they did a lot of actual fighting in the early days, back when they were first getting to know one another and had started on the worst foot imaginable, this arguing soon turns to bickering, which soon turns to friendly, teasing banter. Though they do end up developing crushes on each other, these two started as friends (well, acquaintances, then friends, then best friends), and that hasn’t changed. Although Ash strives for Misty’s approval, that doesn’t mean that he’s lost the comforting familiarity he has with her, where he’s not afraid to snark at and tease her just because he likes her. Conversely, although Misty has a crush on Ash, she still never hesitates to call him on his nonsense, or drag his ego right back down to earth. They don’t walk on eggshells with one another, they’re not super-conscientous with regards to one another. They don’t make each other nervous or insecure, and because of this we see their banter come back in full force, and we see how comfortable they are (and always have been) with casual physical contact. Whether they’re spontaneously holding hands, linking their arms, or poking each other in the forehead, Ash and Misty have always been immensely comfortable with one another, and this shows in the way they interact with one another. 

I feel like this is very rambly, particularly since I’ve been trying to answer it all day in a way that doesn’t just come across as “JKSAL;FJDSAFSDAFAS I KNOW!!!”, but yeah, I’ve always loved their relationship, how balanced and equal it feels, how you can tell that their romantic feelings come from a place of best friendship and time, and how this is something that persists even to the present day. Their relationship hasn’t changed, and I really, really love that.

Why I like them

WOW I'M SPOILED TONIGHT ! THANKS. Even before finding him hot lile I did by entering the AoR fandom (I used to find him ugly like the others and used to find Skeksis disgusting, he just was one of the best-looking), I love angry and loud characters, especially military ones like him so that was a plus. Even before being a fan of the franchise, he was my favorite Skeksis. I love how he is violent, cruel, strong, evil, power hungry and rival to the Chamberlain and yet, even if he is not as intelligent as him, still IS intelligent according to the lore, with kind if a strategic mind, being the one guy seeing through his bullshit, probably knowing about medicine since UngIm does, and having allegiance ideas like in the manga when he demands SkekTek not to tell that SkekLach steals essence as true as it is or it would bring trouble upon himself. I love how he is also not JUST anger contrary to what fanartists tend to, but also bootlicking to SkekSo til the end (you can't tell me "KNEEEEEL ! BOOOOW !" was sincere given how he leaned like a vulture just like the others as SkekSo choked and crumbled to dust), is implied to know how to tame big beasts like Garthim, is FLOOFY and kind of cute at times, is one of the most expressive puppets in the franchise (angry, furious, glaring, in awe, surprised, happily surprised, confused, scared...), and actually takes care of himself which proves he is not just a brute but also quite stylish (wears a bone necklace, probably demanded SkekEkt to put that mechanism in his robes to open fake wings when he wants to threaten because he is that extra, wipes his mouth after eating and drinking, has his armor polished, is very happy to look young and beautiful again (okallSkeksisforthat)...)

Favorite episode (scene if movie)

I have 2 actually. The whole Trial by Stone scene because we see how hateful he is on SkekSil and determined to both have power and shut him (and unwind on him), how angry and expressive he is (the glare at SkekSil while wiping off his drool, he looked so ALIVE, oh and the cute proud nod at the audience) and how STRONG HE IS WOW THAT ROCK WAS CUT IN 2 AND WAS HEATED WOAH 100 DEGREES KNIFE VS STONE CHALLENGE that scene is a good way to show his personality. Aaaand the essence scene in which not only it is the closest you have him be happy ("HAHAHAHA YOUNG !") and speaking calmly not out of boot licking ("is it ready ?") but also because it is the only scene movie and show alike we see a younger Skeksis, and that one time had to be him. He didn't look bad, seeing him being impressed and in awe at his retrieved looks was cute and then seeing him being horrified, disappointed and FURIOUS when he became old again almost immediatly proved how important the Skeksis' motives were to them. It is the scene you understand why Skeksis killed people, and he is there to illustrate it, great

Unlike a lot of people, I don't HC him as a friend person, seeing SkekSo's and SkekVar's deaths as promotion time. I think he kind of respects, hangs out with and helps not out of friendship but out of alliance (the closest he can get to pals) SkekNa and SkekTek

Head Canon

I have a lot, but if I must choose one, he started as the Surgeon and still has to this day a lot of medical knowledge in common with UngIm and UrIm. He just prefers maiming than healing, it's more fun. Plus it wasn't a very good doctor, he was good at his job BUUUT was not the patient reassuring type AT ALL so everybody was reassured he gave up on that when he was promoted, in a way. He taught SkekTek a part of what he knew so he could be both a doc and a scientist, which didn't please him as if he didn't have enough work

Unpopular opinion

I hate his characterization in the novelization (which I don't like in general). Him becoming crazy and Caligula-like while he obviously isn't innthe movie, why !? For once the sequel comics are more logical to have him turn as such, he lost everything because of these 2 Gelflings ! But the novelization !? He was on the throne for 2 days and still thought everything was going perfectly !

The Kid Machine (Part 1)

So this is my first attempt at a VLD fanfic and using Tumblr so if you have any tips or anything hit me up. I will be posting more parts later.

“Ha take that!” Before anyone could blink the last shot i took ended up causing the entire battleship to explode before the ion canon was able to take a shot at the castle.

“Yeah good job Lance! That was a great shot!” Shiro said as i was doing my victory dance.

“Of course that awesome of shot could only come from someone equally as awesome.” i gloated because for once i was actually happy with what i managed to do.

“Wait then how did you make that shot?” Keith said instantly making me stop my dance whilst thoughts i tried to keep away started to come back full force.

“Shut it mullet youre just jealous you couldnt pull off that shot.” I instantly shot back at him. Before he had a chance to reply Shiro told us to stop arguing and get back to the castle which was now landed on the planet below us called Kuros. Keith didnt bother saying something again but i did manage to hear him growl lowly.

As we stepped out of our lions the aliens who inhabit Kuros, kurens as they are called, started swarming us and started dragging us to the castle where the king and queen would be holding a party for us. This one little alien seemed to be only a child about 3 followed me around for a little bit before he attatched himself to my leg and went with me where ever i went. The kid seemed like he was getting bored so i pulled him up until he was on my shoulders then started dancing around to the music that was playing. Eventually a song came on the required a partner so i forced the closest person to me, who happened to be Keith, to dance with us. “Lance what are you doing!? I cant even dance!” Keith yelled as i pulled him with us while i started spinning us around to the beat. “Relax, Keith and follow my lead.” The dance that went with this song was very fast beat and kind of hard to follow at first but watching the other partners i managed to get into the rhythm of the dance since it was quite repetitive. Keith was against it at first and kept trying to pull away but i think the fact that the Kuren child was enjoying himself and laughing quite loud convinced keith to just go along with what was happening. The party was going on for quite a while and i was getting bored so i grabbed onto Keiths arm while setting down the tired Kuren child and started pulling keith up the stairs to go exploring. “What are you doing?” He asked as we turned a corner. “I am taking you exploring!” “Well why are you taking me exactly?” He questioned while slightly trying to pull his arm out of my grasp but i just tighted my hold while still dragging him with me. “Well because you were the closest person to me duh.” I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world but honestly i think it was the most obvious because thats how i roll. I heard him sigh but he let me pull him to where ever. im pretty sure he doesnt know his way around and if i know Keith he will just blame me if we get caught so itd be better for him to be with me for that to make sense. I found double doors at the end of the hall that just seemed to scream my name, ok not really i just liked how they were really pretty. why does a flipping door need to sparkle, like dude thats awesome! I pushed the doors open and walked in all excited and noticed the room was dark except for the light coming from huge windows on both sides of the room but there was only a tube looking machine in the center of the room. Confused i walked into the machine with keith still right behind me when i reached out to press a button but Keiths voice stopped me. “Maybe you shouldnt press that we dont know what itll do.” “Nah its okay its not like theyd have anything harmful where someone could just walk in and find it.” Before Keith could react i quickly pushed the button which caused the tube doors to close. We both started to bang on the glass but no one was around us and our helmet comms werent working in here so i turned back to the only button thats available to press. “Maybe theyll open if i pressed the button again?” “Nooo-” i cut Keith off mid sentance by hitting the button causing a red light to flash for a second. I quickly jumped back and grabbed Keith kinda scared on what was going to happen when the light stopped blinking and the door opened. We both basically threw ourselves out of the tube as quick as we could. The room was almost pitch black since the sun went down and no lights were on in the room when we suddenly heard Shiro talk. “Guys! Lance! Keith! Can you hear me where are you we are in front of the ship the parties over.” “Heyyy Shiro were here we can hear you we are on our way now.” I said really quick so he would stop yelling. “Yep we can hear you be there in a little bit.” Keith also replied at rhe same time. We both quickly let each other go then started walking out of the pitch black room when Keith spoke up again. “Lance stop screwing around let go of my leg.” “How the butts can i be touching you when im in front of you?” I asked really confused “Wait so that... Isnt you?” “Nope whatever that is isnt me.” I assured him. After those words were out of my mouth he quickly kicked whatever had a hold of his leg off of him then was about to take off running when i heard what sounded like crying from the direction the thing landed. Keith turned on the light in our suits while i moved toward the crying thing when the light reached the object i realized it was a human child who had short black hair and blue eyes lile my own he looked to be about 3 years old at least. “Keith you kicked a child a child do you hear me!” I exclaimed while picking up the child cuddling it to my chest softly repeating that its okay and he didnt mean it “Where the hell did it come from?” “Language Keith hes a child no cussing in from of him!” I took my eyes off Keith and turned my attention to the young boy in my arms. “Hello there. "What who are you talking to?" “No dont touch that come on lets follow.... Yeah hes right there. I told the kid as Lance started walking away with my following before i remembered Shiro could here me and was probably even more confused then before “dont worry shiro we are on our way go on into the ship be there in a couple of minutes.” “Alright i guess if you say so…” was the only reply i got. You could hear the confusion in his voice before i turned the comms off and started chasing Lance to catch up to him when the kid spoke up “Papa wait up youre going to fall.” that was all it took for Lance to stop so we could catch up. “Sorry bought that bud i promise ill stay closer this time alright?” The kid seemed happy with that answer so he cuddled up to me making me smile. Ron as a seer? God yessss. But how would it play out? When does it start? Does it get stronger with age as in yoing Ron tens to have 'a bad feeling about this' to full on visions?? Or after fifth year and ther weird incident with the brains? Is it gradual or sudden? How foes Hermione the sceptic react? How his family? How does Harry react? Who does he find solace in? Ok so seer!Ron is actually something people have been talking about since like book... 4? 5? Is when I really remember it coming up and if you Google seer Ron Weasley lists will come up of all the throw away stuff Ron has said that turns out to be true... From Snape flying around like a bat (happens in the 7th book mentioned in the fourth) to Harry coming into a sudden windfall of money (winning the tournament) to Harry suffering but he's going to be happy about it (can you better describe the end of book 3??) To even that Tom Riddle was the one who killed Moaning Myrtle (????) he often says off the cuff stuff that turns out to be totally true or come true. And it's usually the craziest shit he says that comes about. But he and those around him aren't really aware he's doing it (and he failed Divinations but that's because they weren't actually testing for like innate inner sight or anything just being able to read tea leaves and as said his prouncements are usually random and wild so like I don't think people realize uh yeah he's right and that happened. Doesn't lend well to a test). So this has been around a while and I always wanted to just work into a fic someone looking at him and going wait. Y'all realize every time he says something and you like go lol whatever it comes true right? And we're gonna start working that into all our plans as of this moment. So it's always been happening just no one really noticed it before. Also. Yes to Anon 2 about Harry and Neville. I sorta ignore all post war canon but I actually sorta like the idea they both become aurors (Neville especially I think would want to immediately after the war considering what happened to his parents and being unable to let go of his trauma yet, and Harry because he doesn't know what else to do but fight the darkness) but then like... They both quit, probably at different times and learn how to heal. Eventual headmaster Neville is a plus too. Harry should either go into writing or being a teacher himself.
