#roses and lavender #it just sort of sprung into my mind but -- ella's on the way to the ball #the horses get lost #they wind up at this castle which very clearly does NOT have a ball on but like. what else is she supposed to do. it's cold and dark and #she can see candlelight through the windows #the entire castle is FLABBERGASTED to see what appears to be an honest-to-god storybook princess walk through the door #of course the beast gets down there asap but as soon as he sees her he decides to keep lukring in the shadows #she's beautiful and bright and shining and he is -- not.#for her part ella is a nervous wreck #this was not what she signed up for when she stepped into that pumpkin carriage #she stays for dinner because let's be honest she's starving at this point #they talk a little over dinner. as one does.#there's a hunger in both of them for human contact and despite the awkwardness of the situation they end up talking for a long long time #they lose track of time #and suddenly ella's doing her reverse magical girl transformation #and then they're stood in this drawing room just very awkwardly looking at each other #the beast who's been lurking in the shadows all night afraid to sully this beautiful creature by even standing too close to her #and the servant girl playing make-believe who's suddenly found herself in the worst version of the emperor's new clothes #in the distance they hear cogsworth shouting 'why the FUCK did the FOOTMAN just turn into a HORSE?!?!?'#eta the song in question was the loneliest time by carly rae jepsen ft. rufus wrainwright

Ok ok hear me out: it could end in tragedy,, AND have a happy ending. The attempt(s) on Machete’s life force him to flee, he doesn’t even have the chance to find Vasco. Cue gay longing for at least a few years while Machete despairs over the loss of his love, his life, his status. He and Vasco only reunite (again) in their later years. Their relationship is forever flavored with loss and loneliness, but that only means they savor every moment that much more

I also I would like to see them as old men. Vasco would be so droopy :)

#Vasco would go white and gray in the face like an old golden retriever and get wrinklier #his golden fur would get shaggy and gradually lose it's shine #at some point he wouldn't be allowed to ride horses anymore which would upset him greatly #he'd get rheumatism and bad back and his hearing would worsen but he'd be an active and jolly type of grandpa #Machete would mellow out considerably if he managed to retire #I'd like to believe he'd be able to find some sort of inner peace in his later years #even in his prime his eyesight was bad and he spent his entire life fearing going blind so if he eventually got cataracts and lost most of #his remaining vision he'd probably be relatively fine with it as it was something he knew to expect #and he would have Vasco to look after him #his left ear had trouble staying upright when he was a pup so it would be kind of funny if it started drooping again #answered #anonymous #Vasco #Machete #own art #own characters #this isn't canon or anything I'm just musing

Fun fact: Imrahil of Dol Amroth is only ever described in LOTR as Denethor and Faramir's "kinsman", with no distinction ever made between how he's related to Denethor vs to Faramir. It's only later, when Faramir briefly thinks of his long-dead mother, that she is called "Finduilas of Amroth" and we can deduce that the family connection was likely between Denethor's wife and Imrahil, making him an in-law of Denethor but blood relative of Faramir. We're still not told exactly how Imrahil and Finduilas were related, though.

I always had the impression of a certain degree of tension between Imrahil and Denethor, and also of Imrahil being particularly concerned for Faramir, but his exact relationships with them are quite vague in the narrative. A lot of the names, dates, and family connections among the members of the house of Dol Amroth that we now accept as a matter of course are mainly from a separate document published in Peoples of Middle-earth that explains the most probable origin story for the house of Dol Amroth and has an attached family tree. IIRC the entire existence of Faramir and Éowyn's son Elboron is based on his inclusion in the Dol Amroth family tree in POME and he's never referenced in LOTR (and possibly not in anything else, actually?).

Tolkien definitely did imagine Imrahil and Finduilas as siblings regardless (e.g. I think he mentions it when observing that Denethor's natural beardlessness as an Elrosian Dúnadan would be reinforced in Boromir and Faramir by their additional Elvish heritage through Imrahil's sister), but he didn't actually say it in LOTR.

I do think it's important, though, because it's with this later information that Imrahil taking charge of Faramir's fallen body is conclusively revealed to not be simply a prince rescuing a vague "kinsman" of political/military importance, but specifically a man carrying his dead sister's last surviving child from a battlefield.

(No wonder he and Éomer bonded so much, honestly!)

Fun detail: the opening cutscene for Red Dead Revolver (2004) features an instrumental version of "His Name Is King". The lyrical version is oddly fitting for John, given that it's a song about seeking vengeance for a dead brother.

Silly. I had to see if I could recreate the effects of digitally coloring a marker drawing. I'd say this method works. Shading feels fun this way, too, so that's a win-win.

Man that DLC's final boss has got me feeling kinda fucked. I'm kinda depressed about it now that I'm done. Everything else is, was, so good. But I do not like that plot development. I honestly think it is bad. Why did they choose not to foreshadow this in literally any way? Why did Miquella attempt to resurrect Godwyn at all in the first place, then? Practice? Was this really what was originally planned? There's no actual evidence to the contrary so you gotta assume it must've been.

I have a Wild West AU.

For all of Star Wars.

It started with a piano version of Cantina Band. It sounds like something you'd hear in a saloon.

That branches out into this.

Han Solo, a smuggler who's infamous for being uncatchable. His partner is a mountain man who's known by the name "Chewbacca".

And this.

Din Djarin, known to most as "Mando", is a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter. Not much is known about the secretive tribe that calls themselves Mandalorians, and most never remove their bandana.

Finally, I drew some members of the Batch. And their horses.

Omega is just a kid, but for some reason the new tycoon is obsessed with capturing her. Bounty hunters are on the lookout. She's brave though, and fights extremely well -for a woman.

"Crosshair" never gives out his real name, and he's always tried to hide his past as a freedom fighter. This cold, snarky, bounty hunter does have a soft side, though he doesn't show it often.

Thunder belongs to a freedom fighter that goes by "Hunter". He's a rather mischievous horse, and will often try and steal snacks.

Mercury was named after her coat, by small-town librarian "Tech". She's patient and is good with children.

Dynamite loves her owner, a ex-miner who calls himself "Wrecker", and she's incredibly tolerant of loud noises and doesn't spook easily.

Blitz is fast and dangerous, just like his owner Crosshair. He isn't scared by much and will often swat people with his tail.

Rattlesnake belongs to a former soldier who goes by "Echo". This horse is incredibly grumpy and doesn't tolerate much.

Desert Rose originally belonged to Echo, but got stolen by Omega and eventually became her horse. She's quiet and calm, and absolutely loves attention.
