of COURSE!! signals behind the eyes is a bit of a working title that’s gonna change, and it……. truly is a barebones work in progress. not even past it’s very first draft. it’s the very beginnings of a script about udom bedford that i’m playing with at the moment. i ain’t much of a writer and i’ve never claimed to be, but here’s the tiny bit i’ve got so far!!

(i love udom and i love his creativity and his love for media. i cannot for the love of christ almighty imagine he’s a good writer though)

ooh!! thank you so much :) i'm gonna answer five questions from the ask game for ulysses!!!

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

i love how complex and convoluted his mind is. what's going on in there lol (it's a crazy and unique mix of trauma, doublethink, heavy rationalization, rage, despair, projection, and making symbols of things) he's so so intelligent but because of the aforementioned mess going on in his head, he's fractured and isn't putting that brain to good use, except, of course, for his short-sighted revenge quest

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

he's a hypocrite :) mr "i will not use the weapons of the bear" "i will not kill from a distance" ok well put the explosives and the damn anti-material rifle down my good sir. also teaching the courier a lesson that he needs to learn too lmao - actually, wait no i take this back, i like this facet of his character. it makes him interesting

i guess my real least favorite thing about him is the lack of love that he gets :( look at any reddit thread about him, the ulysses fnv tag on any platform, and you'll know my pain

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

star spangled banner (live at woodstock 1969) - jimi hendrix. just listen. i know it's a protest song. but it gives ulysses vibes

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

we... were both depressed :) it's why i latched onto him - i recognized his hurt, his suicidality, and wanted to see him make it out not only alive but also thriving, so i took his happiness (and mine) into my own hands haha

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

i know i draw him with the same hairstyle all the time but i like to think that he changes it up every now and then, from locs and twists to box braids and other protective hairstyles for black hair :) i'm still learning how to correctly draw those but once i do... !!!!

🤓 SMILING FACE WITH GLASSES — is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy? Chatty! I know I said he doesn't like small talk but frankly he doesn't like it when it's about him. Tobias loves talking with others :3 He's also mostly at ease in social situations but if it's too uncomfortable or completely new for him then he'll be shy.

🤩 FACE WITH STARRY EYES — is your oc a planner, or are they more spontaneous in their actions? Spontaneous <3 he's extremely good at thinking on his feet and believes that plans always change anyway so why bother. It works in some way.

😥 SAD BUT RELIEVED FACE — is your oc prone to getting stressed out, or is it easy for them to keep their cool? He's really prone to being stressed out but hides it very well. Comes with a background of academic competition since high school and also having really demanding parents :') His social environment wasn't a safe place for mental health problems and visible symptoms of stress were seen as a weakness which is why he somehow learned to hide it from others. Which definitely didn't do any good for his mental health.

Hey hey hey! I'd love to hear about a time when a character or story developed in a direction you weren't expecting!

I’ll talk about Charlie’s inclusion in Somewhere in the Woods, Waiting. Around the same time I was changing the Brucille Cryptid AU’s setting from Victorian times to the modern-day Northwest US (heavily inspired by Gravity Falls) the new run of the Hulk comics just came out.

I saw a lot of pages on the tag, including the fact that Hulk now had long hair like I was planning on doing in my AU, and the character of Charlie. She’s a huge fan of him, wants to travel with him and hopefully gain powers of her own, and so I decided to add her in as “the one person who believes in the cryptid”.

And as the comic went on and we learned more about her and how depressing and frightening her past and her present were… I decided she was going to be part of Bruce and Lucille’s found family. The AU where everyone is happy.

🏰 Describe their current CAMP🤝

Do they have any other CAMP allies? (either in-game or added via headcanon) (+ about Beckett and Sophia if she's done either!)

🌎 Do they have a favourite region of the world map (e.g. the Forest, the Ash Heap...)? A least favourite region?

Thank you! It's actually going to make more sense for me to answer these out of order, so bear with haha.

🌎 Pre-Scorch Trin would definitely say the Forest. Post-Scorch Trin mostly agrees, but the appeal of the Cranberry Bog sometimes takes over.

🤝 She does! To me, she's had Juliet (her cat) with her since she arrived in Appalachia the first time, and Kayli has usually been either travelling with her or at CAMP since Trin's return. She did also briefly have an intentionally mysterious character that I refer to only as R staying with her, but that was a temporary arrangement and he's now moved on.

She also has both Sofia and Beckett (in-game she currently has Beckett, because 1) I did his questline more recently, and 2) I think his voice actor did a fantastic job, possibly the best in the game). She's become close friends with them both over time, having initially taken them in only because she couldn't think of what else to do for them. I feel like within the group, Beckett isn't yet as close with Sofia and Kay, but that will likely change over time.

🏰 Okay, here's where I'm going to get detailed lol. Trin's lil CAMP settlement has been tentatively named Traylink. It's right across the road from the Wayward, which means that it gets a lot of player traffic... buuut gets blocked by other CAMPs about as often as it doesn't.

The basic setup: It's a single-floor simple structure made out of vault walls (the original was wood and had a removable tarp 'roof', but that took some, ahem, seismic damage after a nuclear event in Morgantown). Outside are a few chairs, a crop area, mini campfires, and Beckett's bar. The entrance is a staircase with two turrets (which tend to disappear and reappear at their own discretion) on either side. Inside is a mini 'Traylink' sign, her vending machine, a tinker's workbench (since the Overseer's CAMP doesn't have one of those), another chair and a bed.

Some random objects she has there: A Nuka Cola mystery machine right next to Beckett's bar (he runs and restocks it). Most internal walls have science chalkboards covered in various equations and schematics. A little cat shrubbery decoration placed at the top of the staircase and a Mr Pebbles light-up poster above the bed, both as poor mimicry of Juliet lol. A Rust Eagles flag/banner given to her by a friend. A radiation warning sign just stuck on a tree for no reason but Aesthetic.

WE RAISED £58 FOR THE WOOD STREET MISSION!!

The Wood Street Mission is a charity focussed on improving the lives of impoverished young people from Manchester and Salford, and in the current cost of living crisis, their work is more valuable than ever. The Mission was first established in 1869 and has been going strong ever since; my Great Granddad and his family were among those helped by the Mission in the 1920’s - he had many siblings, all living in one of the poorest areas of Piccadilly, and he himself would often speak of stealing pig heads and fetid meat discarded behind the butchers’ to feed himself, in the worst times. The Mission provided his family with resources like food and clothing, as well as a Bible we still keep in remembrance, and we firmly believe that, without the Mission, he frankly wouldn’t have survived. My family continues to donate and fundraise for the charity in their honour, which is why I’m so, so, SO incredibly grateful to everyone who so kindly bought commissions: you’re the best!!! The £58 raised has gone towards the Greatest Need category, meaning it will be spent on vital resources such as clothing, food, and other day to day essentials needed for basic living.

Thank you so much again to everyone who commissioned me, with a special shoutout to @the-lastcall, who kindly contributed so much to the cause and was genuinely overall SUCH a sweet, kind, and wonderful person to work with!!
