The hero grinned when they felt the hand around their throat.

It was pitch black in the hero’s bedroom — it had to be or else the hero couldn’t even close their eyes. Often they felt like a trained animal, a lab rat that had been drilled to only fall asleep when there was no light. A silly thought but they believed their wounds could heal better in the darkness. Maybe that was just them trying to deal with the physical trauma.

Deep sleep was a rarity for them anyway.

“You shouldn’t leave your window open.” The villain’s warm breath hit the hero’s lips and for a second, the hero debated if they should just go in for a kiss. But, no.

“You shouldn’t try to assassinate me all the time,” the hero whispered. They knew the villain wasn’t that far away. “Especially with your bare hands. It does things to me.”

God, the villain could be such a little pest. At this point, this was beyond obsession, this was beyond the little cat-and-mouse-games, this was beyond a work relationship. Being close to the villain was like breathing in the thick air of fog, lingering, begging to be noticed, heavy somehow and above all drenching the hero.

It drove the hero insane. The villain was a tease, for sure, and a mean one at that.

Flirting hard enough for the hero to be close to losing their balance. No one had ever dared to question the hero, no one had ever dared to be on their level and yet, the villain was clever and dangerous.

A month ago, they had broken the hero’s arm without hesitation and right now, they could squeeze and squeeze until the hero’s neck cracked. It was thrilling, it was a challenge and power was exactly what the hero was thirsty for.

“All of your assassination attempts end poorly. Time for another job?” the hero added. They had the tiny suspicion that the villain was hesitating — just like them — when it came to the fulfilment of their true desires.

“Do you want me to break your bones again?” the villain asked. “I don’t think you liked that.”

Oh, how wrong they were about that.

“Then end this.”

“As if I didn’t notice the dagger.” The villain shifted and the hero was truly impressed. Without seeing it, the villain was aware of it. Relying on their senses that well…The villain’s free hand found the hero’s wrist and they closed around it, leaning into the blade as if to demonstrate how little they cared about it.

They leaned over, lips against the hero’s neck.

“I usually kill my targets on my first try. But you’ve survived for months now…” They felt the villain’s smirk against their neck and the grip around the hero’s throat softened. The hero’s dagger stayed where it was. “You’re truly remarkable.”

“Oh, darling,” the hero answered, “you’re not supposed to say those things to me.”

“Who else is gonna say this?” And then, the villain’s lips were on the hero’s neck, warm and wet as their tongue followed. The hero closed their eyes and tried to get their self-control back. Hell, the other hand was still around the hero’s, going up and down their forearm.

The villain was — surprisingly — a little shy. They hesitated, were slow and careful, not even paying any attention to the dagger.

“Take your clothes off,” the hero said. Their voice was low and controlled, as if they were giving a command at work. “Now.”

“Shit…” The hero felt them move, felt the absence of their body and loathed it. They discarded their dagger on the nightstand, in case they needed it.

“Wait.” The hero grabbed blindly into the dark and caught fabric. They pulled the villain — who groaned — down and searched for the zipper of their suit. “Let me help you.”

They found it quickly and pulled it down until there was resistance.

“God, you’re a menace,” the villain laughed.

“Oh, you have no idea.” The hero knew exactly where to pull and where to push and their knowledge was, in fact, very useful as they turned the villain around. They seated themselves on top and finally decided to turn on the light on the nightstand.

All they could think was holy fuck when they saw the villain under them. Because the villain was strong and determined. They were smart and stubborn.

And they were under the hero right now, basically drooling.

Their suit was pulled down until right above their hips.

“I have neighbours,” the hero said, as if that wasn’t obvious. “So, you better be quiet.”

“I’m never quiet.” The hero pushed their hips deeper into the villain’s, making the other gasp.

“I’ll gag you if I have to.” The hero drew a line from the villain’s chin, all the way over their chest and down to their hips. The villain squirmed a little.

However, the hero realised as soon as they kissed their enemy how cocky the other was. They truly were a pain in the hero’s ass: letting out high-pitched moans just to tease them.

Unfortunately, the hero couldn’t think of anything that could work as a gag to silence the villain.

Fortunately, as the night progressed and they got more frustrated, they pushed their fingers into the mouth of the (surprised, yet oddly satisfied) villain. Watching their eyes roll back into their head gave the hero a random burst of energy and they knew being rough was the only option.

They had no choice but to be mean.

god there are so many Angles and Frameworks and Contexts through which it is possible to examine 814's dynamic that i constantly feel unhinged about it. and probably sound unhinged as well…… pls note that all of this is pure insanity from my insaneperson brain ⚠️ ;__; ok where to begin.

to me the thing about 814 mirroring each other is that in reality it's actually a metaphor for many different things ❗️ on one hand you can interpret it Literally as in a strictly physical sense—the idea of mirroring someone as running parallel and positioning yourself firmly opposite each other, as constructing intricate rituals in order to NOT touch the skin of other men, being so specifically magnetically repulsed that any contact is accidental and fleeting and causes you to spring away as quickly as you'd met. but then there is also the other sense of mirroring that is….. more amorphous and conceptual, e.g. how oscar has in many ways indirectly orbited lando his entire career and how although they've only been teammates for a year now lando has technically been a primary reference point of his throughout a majority of his teens. AND what i think is so interesting about that too is that if you look back at oscar's Evolution As A Person, you could argue that he's been purely Himself As He Is Now for a very long time... yes there've been minute fluctuations in maturity and just general cringeness and muscle growth and cheek fat etc. etc. but at least outwardly in how he communicates with other people and displays his mentality / innate habits / mannerisms he's basically been his fully realized adult self since he was like 17??? which obviously cannot be said of lando norris who has grown massively in appearance and perspective and assuredness and so on from the ages of 17 to 21 to 24. yet this constantly evolving & changing your_choice_of_lorde_album Growing Pains lando has always been a sort of distant static fixed point in the future of oscar's mind… hmmm. that's just part of it tho

basically 814 as they are now are sooo fascinating to me because again They Do Not (Consciously) Touch but they've still very gradually managed to build off the foundations of oscar's subconscious teenage mirroring by turning it into something… well perhaps not quite fully intentional (and isn't that almost better in the end!!!) but certainly more self-aware and generally conscious. basically: the Negative Space of landoscar's demonstrated "affection" is where their reciprocity lies! if that makes sense.

and i guess what i'm trying to get at is that… on surface level, it's easy to say that 1) Oscar has always only ever been himself (generally true) and that 2) As the guy who came into f1 at 19 and was continuously expected to meet his more extroverted teammates' energies lando is the one who's habituated to experiencing marked change (also fairly true), but this still obfuscates equally important facets of their personalities: i.e. that oscar may be the more ~intellectually~ inclined of the two (which also who Cares. completely totally off-topic LOL but personal pet peeve of mine is people acting like there is a discernible difference between a-level maths and whatever private tutoring lando did after dropping out when their job title is lichrally F1 Driver…?! both are negligible fractions of fractions of whatever postgrad coursework the team's Actual engineers have done!!! but anyway), my personal argument is that really oscar is so consistently himself BY having zero concept of himself. whereas lando….. actually does possess a very strong inner character and intense, at times destabilizing self-awareness but also boasts a higher eq that enables a very high capability for social camouflage.

so basically. Yes. mutual accommodation……. i think my main point is that despite lando's strong baseline character and idiosyncrasies and particularities and fussiness and general weirdness, He Can, when necessitated, (as long as it doesn't completely contradict his moral impulse etc. etc.) soften that edge and adapt to another person's expectations—Even if just to maintain bearable social rapport & conversation. whereas on the other hand oscar can sometimes actually be a lot more malleable because he doesn't really hold strong conviction in much outside the few non-negotiables in his life ??? (read: racing...) like yes he's still competitive in challenges and is pedantic as shit but also he kind of just Doesn't care……. so basically he's the perfect fit for lando. because he DOESN'T expect anything from lando and lando DOESN'T need to camouflage himself for oscar and because oscar interprets things straight-forwardly and at face value and reads lando's intentions in good faith and honestly probably like 30% of lando's overthinking is a result of people constantly assuming the worst of him so i think on some level it's like 👉 👈 when you're both a little weird and also weird in these little different ways but in the end those minute shifts are what make you compatible and fit you back together again ?!?!?!? as i said it's the negative space of it all.

but of course lando REALLYYY doesn't like being unnecessarily corrected over ultimately inconsequential things and again his demeanor is far from bombastic when it hasn't been demanded of him, so i think oscar quickly recognized that in his character and learned to just play along with what lando liked and wanted—not because he was preoccupied with lando getting annoyed at him or thought that lando was sensitive or whatever and not because he himself is a pushover because of course there is a healthy & endearing amount of push/pull to their dynamic but just because he sincerely respects lando and with that respect understood that he didn't need to "force" their dynamic when it would prosper by just being himself and more importantly letting lando be himself……….. Or something.

which imo is basically the basis of their current communication style: a lot of wordless meaningful looks & expressions (because they're both entirely honest people in different ways) (SEE: VIRGIN RADIO UK) (the thing Is that lando has no verbal filter but oscar is the one with 0 control of his expressions and deeply revealing permablush), oscar always folding to whatever lando says in an interview, jumping into frame and following along lando's message in the british f4 anniversary video, listening to lando's music through the walls of their driver rooms, and of course any instance of their Soft Talking Voices such as → "yeahhh you're up there" "aww (genuinely a little pleased and flustered)" and CAT 5 behind the scenes smoothie convo and oscar patiently waiting for lando to finish speaking and not wanting to enforce his presence but always being there and ready to help him….. like the worst part 2 me of the "well-represented" video is that andrea turns to lando first and tries to help him but lando is Still processing and Not listening so THEN he looks at oscar to be like um i don't know the word and that's when andrea looks back at oscar expectantly 🥲😭😩!!!!!!!! what if i dyed. honestly. the category is truly just oscar being susceptible to Lando Norris…………… i could go on.

extremely important note about this au is that, being russian, ino's name is ino yamanavka xD

many ramblings about this au vvv

hinata is the first daughter of the yakuza's hyuuga family. she murders her father in cold blood with his own katana after a psychotic break. hanabi becomes the boss by default and is out for hinata's head for revenge. hinata runs away to russia. she regains awareness somewhere in russia after her episode and after a few weeks is found by low level bratva members that answer to a certain faction led by ino.

ino is instantly taken by this exotic yet dangerous beauty and recognises that she's not all right up there. instead of wasting her she takes her in, much to the familys protest, and makes hinata her right hand. ino's goals are to climb the ranks and take over the entire russian mafia as the top leader.

hinata has reverted to a "childlike" state for self preservation. she is shy and cheerful and nervous and meek; qualities her father literally beat out of her to shape her up to becoming the next head of the hyuuga. despite this, hanabi would be the one to grow up to be the ruthless protege he always wanted and so tossed hinata to the side. the trauma endured and the pressure and ostracisation by the whole clan caused her to eventually snap.

the guilt and grief of killing her father then has her reverted to a childlike state where she constantly seeks for his approval. she took her father's sword with her and his "spirit" lives in the sword. she seeks the swords approval and talks to it as if it were hiashi himself. and in her mind the sword praises her for how far she's become, berates her for her mistakes, etc.

when she kills she becomes hysterically insane, and in the aftermath she becomes cold and unfeeling for some time before she goes back to her normal childlike state. basically she lives in a constant state of disassociation / multiple personalities (?)

ino manipulates her to do her bidding, assures her she's okay, that she's amazing, that her father is so proud of her. she eases hinata's nerves and anxieties with sweet words and sex.

ino came from a poor background where her father sold her to the bratva for money and medicine to help his sick wife. she grew up in the mafia and was used and abused all throughout. every year, every day that passed, ino would have an ever growing hitlist; members that raped her, beat her, humiliated her, etc. and on the top of that list was her fathers name.

when she was old enough to put her plans to fruition, she tracked down her parents house only to find that they had died long ago. not being able to have the last word she is fueled by hatred and goes on a killing spree on the rest of her list and kills her boss and takes his place and threatens the remaining living members of the faction to either join her or die.

over time she becomes a terrible and horrifying leader and is now the boss of a significantly large faction that has control of a sizeable area in moscow.

she has spent time in prison where she received most of her tattoos. (dot under the eye to denote homosexuality, rose to indicate that she turned 18 in prison, nautical stars that tell of her authority, eyes on her chest to mean she is always watching, "cyka" a forced tattoo calling her a bitch, spider to show that she's an active criminal, gun to show she's killed and is/was for hire to kill, roundstone that means trust no one, and various other tattoos with real world meanings).

half her face was burned with battery acid in prison. her back is littered with scars from cuts and from lashes as disciplinary measures growing up in the mafia.

hinata's irezumi tattoos include motifs of ame no uzume that represents inner beauty and kindness, with various other details like bamboo and ginko leaves and little creatures like crabs and goldfish that represent strength, perseverance, sacrifice and loyalty.

ino genuinely cares for hinata in a very fucked up, selfish, and narcisstic way. their relationship is very complex. ino has a girl that constantly seeks her dead fathers approval, and ino has to act like the concept of a father doesn't sicken her to her bones. in a way, they both drive each other mad. ino grows to hate the sword that has part of hinata's love and attention, but understands that if the sword were to disappear then hinata would too (mind and body).

ino drives hinata to kill, which frays her mind a bit more every time, and in turn the energy ino puts into not letting hinata fall apart at the seams causes her a great deal of stress and gets in the way of a lot of her plans to take over. by the end of their conquests they are barely held together by a thread.

they do get very far together but they meet a grim fate when after hinata is forced to kill a child, she loses the last thread keeping her together then murders ino then kills herself immediately after. they become stuff of legends within the mafia.

Why do you say Ted is worse than Ross

Because he is - and I say this as someone whose least favorite character of the main six in Friends is Ross because the dude can piss me off A LOT.

Ross is selfish, whinny, spoiled, obsessive and immature like Ted. But the writers of Friends were far more self-aware than the writers of How I Met Your Mother - mainly because they were not using Ross as a self-insert, and would not use Twitter to say shit like "If you ship Rachel with Joey instead of with Ross, you're the reason people like Trump get elected and destroy nations." No, I am not kidding, that actually happened.

Ted CONSTANTLY acts like a creep and the show treats it as fully romantic, and if a woman (mainly Robin) is turned off by it, the show tries to spin it as "She's afraid of commitment" or some bullshit. When Ross is getting possessive over Rachel the show actually allows her to call him out and she doesn't always run straight to his arms - not to mention, she can act just as unreasonable and entitled, meanwhile the most Robin does is say "Maybe, someday, if we're both single and miserable and no one else wants either of us, I'd consider marrying you."

Even Ross's most absurd moments get a bit more of pass because they're (usually) meant to:

1 - Show that the character is flawed (Him constantly getting paranoid that Rachel is gonna cheat on him with her co-worker is meant to show he's insecure, jealous, possessive AND doesn't listen when she repeatedly says she loves HIM, not this other dude - though the writers do still want the audience to root for him and Rachel to find a way to make it work)

2 - Make a joke about how he's kind of insane (see him not telling Rachel they're still married because he can't have another failed marriage - a situation in which NO ONE in the cast makes excuse for him, and we even have Chandler rightfully saying "At point did you think this was a successful marriage?")

Meanwhile the writers of HIMYM did things like:

1 - Say Ted breaking up with a girl on her birthday, through an answering machine that all the guests in her surprise party heard before she did, finding her years later, winning her back, then breaking up with her on her birthday AGAIN is totally just what was meant to be because "Well, she found true love later"

2 - Have him use "It was past 2am" as an excuse to cheat on his girlfriend/lie to Robin about being single to sleep with her.

3 - Make him have an emotional affair with a married woman that then left her husband (who thought of Ted as friend) for him, accept getting back together with his ex that was engaged and then left the groom at the altar, and make a move on his ex that was engaged to one of his best friends on the weekend on their wedding.

4 - HAVE TED TELL HIS KIDS HE WANTS TO TELL A STORY ABOUT HOW HE MET THEIR DEAD MOTHER, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY ABOUT HOW HE ALWAYS LOVED A DIFFERENT WOMAN THAT HE WAS STILL OBSESSED WITH AFTER 25 YEARS.

Not to mention, even the stuff in Friends that genuinely did not age well at all and that the writers weren't self-aware about in any way have a bigger excuse than the stuff HIMYM did because Friends started in 1994 and ended in 2004, yet HIMYM was on the same level, if not worse, and it started in 2005 and ended in 2014. There's a reason audiences tolerated Ross's shenanigans way more than they tolerated Ted's - Friends was a product of it's times, HIMYM felt behind it's time. Ross feels like a typical character you'd see in the 90's, Ted feels like the hero of every "Nice Guy" that is actually not nice at all.

Plus, Ross had much better chemistry with Rachel than Ted ever did with Robin (or literally any love interest except the Mother) and the series made sure to never give us an alternative pairing that was much better than the planned one like HIMYM did with Barney and Robin (and I say this as someone that ships Joey and Rachel). And while Josh Radnor made the rare good scene of Ted feel great, David Schiwimmer, and the entire cast of Friends really, made mediocre or downright bad scenes enjoyable or at least tolerable. The only one in the HIMYM cast with the same talent was Neil, who was playing the character that we were not supposed to actually want to see get the girl, which just made it even easier for audiences to root for Barney, not Ted.

It's just a perfect storm of different factors that makes a character like Ross getting a happy ending after all the shit he pulled MUCH easier to accept than when that happens to a Ted type, hence the finale of Friends still being incredibly beloved by nearly everyone, while HIMYM's ending was absolutely hated to the point that it shelved the planned spin off and put the showrunner's careers in limbo for nearly a decade.

There is extreme doubt and irritation etched on his face at seeing the Radio Demon again. Only to then have a piece of paper slid across the table he's using. Flicking his gaze between Alastor and the paper he finally reluctantly pulls it a little bit close.

"Seriously? You want my opinion on you?" Very well, Michael is nothing if not honest and blunt in his critiques of other people. Sighing he grabbed the red marking he was using and started filling it out while commenting.

The first thing that popped up was attraction and he drew a sharp single line through it. "I am not rating my brother's significant other in attraction. I'd tell you to go to Hell but you're already here." Moving on from that he lowered his gaze to the next question listed.

Undertale.exe: so I looked at Camilla Cuevas being an awful person. Then i looked at the beautiful anime that is @jakei95's underverse... then i smushed it all toghether to basically create the perfect AU. Frisk is a pansexual fuccboi that Has Game, Chara is THICC and powerful, Betty is built like a ballerina and is 1000 years old, and Asriel is a Streemur. All of them live in this house far away from the city thats literally a larger version of sans' house. All charachters can legally drink (prepare for Drunk Chara shenanigans where its Betty Glitchtale the drunk one instead) and the only one who (probably) isnt gay is Asriel (even though frisk covets the Dreemur Dong) (one day soldier, one day...). Many chatachters from many AUs sometimes come to visit cause, you know. Its a nice place.

Curseworld: massive writing project of mine which is just "adventure time shaped mass of autism". The world is cursed and fucked over, and everything is colorful. Its also part Owl House because fuck you the magic system is FUCKED here.

firstly there is always the bone motif barty’s bodily autonomy post. but grim made a post here that touches on it a little that i really enjoy.

the way i try to relate to barty is like. in hp we know the soul/"self" is both 1) something that exists 2) is separate from the body. unlike everybody else (as a result of imperius for years, azkaban, polyjuice, the dementor's kiss) barty doesn't really... have a concrete self? if he does its this sorry stifled underdeveloped thing. i mean this narratively speaking not how he personally feels about it. but if everyone else has a soul INSIDE a body, barty is just the body. he IS whatever shape his container is taking (consider imperius, where your inner world=hearing the commands your body is following)(consider how indistinguishable he was from moody. thats probably natural to him)

but we also know that he's clever and manipulative and arrogant and all that despite. so i think the way he sees his body is deeply fucked up (i mean, its Literally a prison) but its also literally all he has. he cant not coexist with it or he has nothing lol... i think he subconsciously views his body mostly as a Tool by which to achieve Ends that he is always Hyper Aware of like he knows exactly what is where and what its doing down to an insane level.

to answer the questions i think he goes through private intimate moments (showering, masturbation) in a manner thats pretty matter-of-fact but otherwise seems outwardly ""normal""? mechanical? its not his Body itself but the conditions under which his body has been used that are traumatizing. he’s still deeply weird & distant about it just not in a way he’s conscious of. he completely lacks normal body insecurities though (“am i ugly” type stuff) like thats just not in the cards for him bc of the Tool thing.

and yet he is still a human being despite!! and i really believe that a little bit under all of that baggage whenever he gets to be alone with himself in those ways its a little heart breaking. peaceful but also terrible? tender but distant? probably his only body-related happy memory is his mother washing him as a child or something. it reminds him of that.

i bought ultrakill forever ago but never got around to playing it. what is the deal why has it spawned such a dedicated fanbase. you seem like you'd know....

IT'S JUST REALLY GODDAMN FUN!!! that's the short answer and honestly the best answer. it's really ridiculously fun. like probably one of the most fun games to ever exist.

there is a ridiculous amount of care and skill and soul packed into every design choice; it culminates in some of the most immaculately ecstatic and visceral gameplay i've ever experienced. it cannot be understated how brilliant this game's design is. the only way to really understand why it excels is to just play it!

if you'd like an anecdote to represent the overall ultrakill experience, here's mine: when i played the demo for the first time, after maybe 5 minutes i became so physically nauseous that i had to stop. and in that time i immediately went to get the full game. it's DELIGHTFUL. (see also: jerma's playthrough where he starts screaming "humans aren't supposed to be doing this" during a boss fight.)

but even aside from pure gameplay, there really is a lot to love… there's a certain self-aware sincerity to everything. it's unabashed on purpose, and in the best ways possible. despite its obviously absurd violence, don't at all mistake ultrakill for something cynical or misanthropic—there's a lot of depth and heart dancing beneath the surface, a lot of it in places i didn't expect to see it, and so much that i didn't expect to appreciate nearly as much as i do.

like okay, obviously the music is just. insane. the goddamn midi metal/breakcore genre fusion is THE most hilarious and unfathomably genius stylistic choice that could have been made. and it's not even just that!! there's ambient & drone & harsh noise influence all across the ost, which just enchants and delights me. i DEFINITELY didn't expect it, but i love it. (the fact that there's like, a level named after a sunn o))) song, and that the latest update contains a godawful joke about trout mask replica might tell you exactly what kind of game ultrakill is, or it might tell you literally nothing.)

the writing and worldbuilding can be rich and compassionate in ways i really didn't expect, too... it's so evident that it's a work of passion, with really sincere and often sweet philosophies sprinkled throughout all the bloodshed and grotesque silliness—and often within them. it makes me smile! also gabriel is a really good character. people go apeshit over that guy. for good reason. he's just REALLY good.

if you're just interested in understanding its amassed fanbase, yeah ultrakill's is pretty ridiculous and dedicated. and it's extremely deserved! the game is fun & the characters are fun. being in early access, it's kinda built on ongoing feedback, so it makes sense people are invested. the devs really seem to embrace the fanbase wholeheartedly, which helps a lot too. that is also why, kind of inexplicably, ultrakill is kind of a gay & horny game. please note that i do not say these things flippantly or lacking deliberation; there's an extremely good essay to be written about gayness across ultrakill & its communities. like aside from the general hilarity of a game having official buttplug support, the fact that the dev team hired an artist specifically because he drew a lot of incredibly beautiful/obscene depictions of gabriel DOES say a lot. this, of course, makes ultrakill 100x better.

anyway that's the basics. i could definitely write THOUSANDS of words about this game and that's honestly... not what i expected when i booted it up the first time LOL. it really just happened to appeal to a lot of things i sincerely adore, in an unexpectedly sincere way—all while being a STUPIDLY good game.

TL;DR: it's a fun robot video game where you shoot things. and there's blood and explosions. it's good you should play it

Baaah. Yes on a surface level Asuka is the epitome of Shinji, loud, determined, bossy, associated with red while Shinji is associated with colours like white and blue. But most of Asuka’s hatred of Shinji comes from an inner self hatred (much like Asuka’s rivalry with Rei comes from the fact Rei is what Asuka fears becoming the most. A doll, lifeless, hanging like the one her mother hung believing it was her who she was bringing with her to the afterlife. It’s a mix of that, and envy over what she perceives to be being served praise on a silver platter, when really, she had no choice in the matter.) the fact that inside they are all too similar. They are both vulnerable and alone and small, but they deal with it in completely different ways, the dichotomy between expressing one’s emotions with a mix of (feigned) pridefulness & anger vs conflict avoidance & sadness. But what they both want the most is for someone to hold them, love them. They aren’t complete opposites. I suppose the yin & yang take is accurate though considering they have parts of each other in them & just express it differently. And then there’s the Kaworu is an idealized version of Shinji take. Which actually works depending on how you elaborate on it, until you say that “Kaworu is too perfect.” Are you insane? Even in the anime I’d say you can tell someeeeething is a little wrong with him, but then there’s all the other side media that further elaborates on how messsed up he is & how he dooms himself with his self-sacrificial nature & how he didn’t realize he was thinking more about what would make himself happy than what would make Shinji happy despite thinking he was right, trying to seek happiness by making him happy too, which I don’t think is necessarily evil but definitely unhealthy. There’s also the fact that they really do make each other better even if they also make each other worse without trying to, it’s a sort of twisted cycle for both of them that only one is even aware of. Kaworu has many flaws. Altruism like his can lead to selfishness despite being so selfless in nature with how willing he is to self destruct. He is left with far too many painful memories from every prior attempt & yet tries desperately to save him anyway. & all the crazy shit he pulled in the manga that boy is not normal. He is displayed as too good to be true, yes, but to claim he’s perfect is a falsehood. Only Shinji really sees him that way and hence it sort of affects their dynamic, because how could he not compared to himself? And yet he’s still willing to work through Kaworu’s feelings in NGE2 and it’s crazy. Kaworu isn’t God even if his unconditional love is similar to his. He is a child like them even if something else, and capable of mistakes and things that hurt others, the latter being often without realizing it. He has interests of his own, and feelings, and painful memories he’s left to deal with, even if not in the same way as Shinji. I’m not so mad about them parting ways at the end 3.0 + 1.0 since I didn’t expect them to get gay married or anything even if I didn’t like the angle they took since that movie was absolute shit but like even in that movie I don’t see All of the kwsn from it as awful. But then there was also all the strange Gendo shit & it was like what the fuck. I don’t care for the actual question though just the points made in the answer. Also “I don’t think any relationship should be seen as inherently romantic/sexual” is an okay take but the sickening deep connection between Kawoshin has such obvious romantic implications from the very first two drafts and it doesn’t inherently take value away from it & you can view it in multiple different angles… without having to remove that factor.

Okay, realistically, both versions would give their respective Rinko’s shit because that’s who they are but really they would just see more to love. BUT.

Another Level Gojo would definitely give her shit about being down on herself. We already know he hates when she’s too hard on herself, so this would be another case where he would flick her on the forehead and roll his eyes teasingly.

I think she would start getting a bit self-conscious after giving birth for a bit. Maybe a year or so down the line she hasn’t lost all the pregnancy weight because that shit changes you and also she’s not going on jobs as much anymore because she’s the Tokyo Tech Principal and all, ya know? Of course, Gojo still looks fucking gorgeous and perfect so that would eventually start getting to her. He’d remind her that he loves her no matter what and nothing could ever change that, especially not a bit of extra weight. Then he would grin and smack her ass and joke that her having a bit more weight there is actually a benefit in his opinion 👀👀

Physical Paradox Gojo would also give Rinko shit, but in a gentler way. Primarily because she would try to rationalize her self-consciousness away. So he’d tease her about the fact that she’s hypocritical for trying to wish away her thoughts and feelings when she literally researches the psychology behind a lot of those negative feelings. He would just hold her close and tell her he’s always happy, ecstatic even, to remind her that he loves all of her through everything and every single change. That she’s his most favorite person in the world and nothing could ever make him feel or think otherwise, even when they argue or fight.

Physical Paradox Gojo would also threaten to spank her

While it would be funny and they would have a good time, both would miss their own Rinko’s.

Another Level Gojo would discover that he too has an insane tattoo kink. He would be a bit taken aback at how much softer Physical Paradox Rinko is, and how she’d look at him and be like “bro, you’re so autistic it’s truly insane.” I think the most biggest difference he would notice, though, would be her complete lack of cursed energy. you once tweeted about touya not being the one who needs to change and like “overcome” his obsession w endvr bc his reactions are valid. i wanted to ask how you feel about hawks and his obsession with endvr tho, him literally always putting himself down (esp in the new chapter with saying his wings are dirty for example) to put endvr on a pedestal (still calling him a figure of hope??) so he can basically still look up to him and not face what shit endvr did. do you think he needs like a reality check and face that his idol did or is it just hori not caring

I definitely do not think it's a case of Hori not caring. I'll explain why, but first I want to kinda just explain my take on what Hawks said this chapter about his wings, and his reaction to Endeavor when comparing it to Touya's.

My answer to your question is yes, Hawks needs a reality check. Touya needs a reality check but in a different way. His dad does not define him, and I am fully confident that Shouto's role is making Touya realize that, however that necessary realization does not cancel out that he also deserves to have and see his dad love him and give him what he wants.

Hawks on the other hand, imo, just needs to wake up. There is not real validation or affection from Endeavor he needs in order to move on with his life. Endeavor did not raise him. Hawks is attached to an Endeavor that never existed, while Touya is attached to the real Endeavor with ALL of the ugly parts included. Even with all of the horrible things Endeavor did....Touya still loves him and craves his attention and presence in his life.

Hawks ignores the ugly part of Endeavor. He straight up refuses to acknowledge it for what it is. He knows, he's aware, and yet he remains unphased and puts Endeavor on a pedestal and latches onto him, secretly wishing Enji was his dad and if we ever fucking get to this payoff of Hawks's build up, I'm sure we'll see some jealousy of Touya. Can't imagine a better reason for this image to exist:

Which, I don't think I need to really explain this but---it's irrational and ridiculous of Hawks to want these things. Is it understandable on a psychological and emotional level? Absolutely. 100%. His reaction is valid, even if very frustrating. Does that change the fact that the entire situation is ridiculous? Nope. It's ridiculous to us (me) as readers because we know all of the information.

So imo yes Hawks is due for a reality check. And I don't think Hori is ignoring it. I will admit to feeling some level of frustration lately with him showing Hawks looking batshit insane when Twice shows up, getting ready for the emotional gut punch of a life time with the set up, and then for some reason spending like 20 chapters trying to get AFO tf out of Gunga and having Hawks and AFO banter repeatedly and completely fucking stalling the story's progress. I'm a little over it and ready to move on, but I don't think anything is going to go on forever ignored. If I've learned anything, it's that anytime we think something will be forgotten or casually slid under the rug, Hori always busts it out later with a vengeance. I do pretty much fully trust Horikoshi at this point, as he has not let me down yet no matter how frustrating the weekly pacing of the manga is at times. Hawks does not have anything good coming his way anytime soon, as Twice and Toga are still there and Touya and Endeavor are still playing duck duck clown. So I'm not worried.

Hawks putting himself down....well, there's layers to this. Maybe Hawks shouldn't have a self-deprecating way of thinking, but Hawks also isn't exactly the pinnacle of hope in BNHA land right now, and he's LONG overdue for feeling some sort of doubt or guilt about his own beliefs and actions. His wings are dirty because they carried out a murder in the name of heroism--which is just incorrect in BNHA's definition of being a hero. And then, Hawks relating Endeavor to anything hopeful is also just not good. I know Endeavor's redemption arc is clear cut and happening, but the climax of it hasn't happened yet, so I feel like as long as Hawks is jumping the gun at praising Endeavor for his redemption that hasn't happened yet, all the while running away from his own heinous act, we shouldn't be taking Hawks's whole word for things on what's hopeful and what's not. Hawks said some questionable things this chapter that have an ominous vibe to it all, and it really just kinda keeps me of the belief that he's got a storm coming.

So, as you are a gamedev, what do you genuinely think about Decked Out 2? (Aside from the correct answer that it is awesome, of course)

decked out 2 is incredible! tango took the original and absolutely improved on pretty much every aspect. it is absolutely insane for the limitations of survival minecraft. i also absolutely love that he created the game specific to the environment it exists within. decked out has a for a small, limited player base over a longer period of time. the way tango created so much of the game very much leans into that aspect, and uses it to do things a game with a different audience wouldn’t be able to.

as for specific stuff. think the implementation of different phases + new win condition is a lot better than the system in the first decked out! makes it a lot easier to tell how everyone is doing in relation to each other, and also self balances the game giving those with different skill levels more chances. even if i do miss the trading of artifacts a bit. but that’s more than a fair trade off for how improved the new system is. sometimes you have a sacrifice a nice small thing to make way for a much bigger, better mechanic.

my only major worry while tango was working on the game was the amount of feature creep. that’s always a nasty trap to fall to fall into. but tango was very much fully aware of that and managed it incredibly well.

and for any criticism: i don’t like the map/ui feature personally- or at least how it’s implemented. i feel that information could be conveyed in a much better way, either using showing the info on map in a different way, or using sound to give that information. but that’s such a small nitpick for me.

overall. decked out 2 good.
