A Shot in The Dark (Chapter 1) Wriothesley x fem!reader
Summary: As the upcoming Weapons Master of the town, you've started to take more responsibilities in your father's shop. Little did you know that taking up this job would cause you to get thrown into the messy world of criminals and the messy world of confusing feelings for the Duke of Meropide.
Warnings: Slow burn, this is gunna be long. Like Ruthless Prince long, maybe. Nothing much happens. This is the first chapter after all. Excuse any mistakes, I am a busy mother.
Author's Notes: Tell me what you think?
Read other parts: Coming Soon
In the shop, a quiet tick-tock rang around as you stood behind the counter, drumming your fingers against the table, watching as the short hand of the wooden clock slowly inches towards the number 7.
You take a deep breath through your nose, squaring your shoulders up, holding the air in your chest for a second before puffing everything out in one go.
It was your first time alone in the shop, and while your father didn’t have a lot of customers these days, you heard that he was quite the sought-after weapons master back in the old times.
A small chime takes you out of your reverie. That was your cue that the day had to start, going around the counter with a slight hum, opening the door to the outside and flipping the store sign “Open”.
You took a moment to look around the small street of Vasari Passage. From where you stood at the shop’s entrance, you had a good view of the swirling fountain in the middle of the Court of Fontaine. There are a few other shops lining the street: the snack shop, the fruit stand, up a set of stairs was the House of Hearth and further down the street was Café Lutece.
It was a nice location, close to the entrance to the city and walking distance to food if you were too busy or too lazy to cook for yourself that day. The shop was on the ground floor, but your father and you resided above the shop, one floor up.
The apartment was rather modest. A two bedroom with wooden floors that now sort of groaned when you stepped on certain places. A dining room that also served as a living room, a 4-seater table in the middle with a fireplace off to the side. A kitchen, where your mother used to spend all her time, cooking up something wonderful for the family. And lastly, one bathroom that was strangely quite spacious with a bath and built in shower.
You pull the shop door open once again, a small ring from the tiny bell hanging above reverberating in your ears. You had only taken a few steps forward, barely even reaching the counter when the tiny bell rang again, followed by the closing sound of the door.
“Welcome to Hammer and Hand, how can I—” you twist around just as you reach the counter and there stood a very, very familiar face. “Oh, Ms. Clorinde,”
No, you had never spoken to her before. Nor were you in any way acquainted. But she was someone that everyone knew and as soon as her name left your lips you felt nervousness crash into you, as if a wave of Primordial Sea water was trying to pull you under its depths.
Clorinde regarded the shop briefly. Looking up at the shelves on the left and right. Surveying the carpet on the floor. Eyes glancing at the several chairs littered around for waiting customers. Then, she looked at you. “…I heard that there might be someone who could take a look at my pistol,” she wasn’t asking a question and she sounded as if she might be in a hurry.
“That would be me,” you sighed out with a forced smile, hands fumbling under the counter to take out a sleek, velvet-lined, black box for the Champion Duelist to rest her weapon in.
A quick click-clack of her heels, Clorinde placing the pistolet into the box and you, hovering your hands above it. “May I?”
Clorinde made a quick sound of approval, and your hands gently took the weapon, now examining it for what might be wrong.
Clorinde peered at you through her hat, just a quick look.
Truth be told, she wasn’t the kind to judge others by appearance…but you looked very, very young to be a weapons master. After a moment of silence, just the little clinks and ticks of your hands tapping on the pistol, Clorinde decided to speak up. “…I was told the shop owner was a man,” She kept her eyes on you to gauge for a reaction, perhaps wary that she might have offended you.
On the contrary, you were unphased, and didn’t take your eyes off her pistol. “My father,” you curtly answered, eyes narrowing at the frame of the gun. “He’s off on vacation at the moment…He hasn’t been on one in a while so I’m stepping in for him for a bit,”
Clorinde made a sound of understanding. That made more sense. “…Everyone needs a vacation,” she said in a different tone to what she used earlier, almost as if she was striking up a casual conversation.
This caught your attention the slightest bit, eyes involuntarily dragging up, meeting hers, then awkwardly breaking the gaze in a split second, going back to the weapon.
“There seems to be a problem with the firing pin, Ms. Clorinde,” you lay the pistol back on the velvet box, then take out a number of small trinkets and tools that would help you open the weapon.
You didn’t talk as you worked, Clorinde was mostly impressed by how much you knew of a weapon you just met, and how your hands were almost as steady as hers when she took aim.
“…You use this often?” She hears you ask and she takes a moment to reply.
“…You could say that,” again, she replies in a short manner.
You let out a little hum in thought. In the next 5 minutes you spend some time taking out different types of firing pins. You explain what each one does. One valued speed. One was a chunkier, sturdier type. One was absorbent of elemental energy, so on so forth. Clorinde explained what she usually used the pistol for, and what attribute she valued over others.
With that, the firing pin was easily replaced and the pistol felt as good as new in her hands.
“My sincere thanks,” Clorinde nods her head, and for the first time that morning sent a small yet satisfied smile your way.
“My pleasure, Ms. Clorinde, do come back if there’s anything else wrong with it, or if it doesn’t feel right in your hands,” you keep your back straight and tense until the Champion Duelist walks out and the door creaks closed. You puff out another sigh of relief, shoulders slumping and yourself crumpling on the counter.
“Of course my first customer has to be a celebrity!” You freak out on your own, cheek pressed against the table and trying to replay the whole interaction in your mind. If you had said anything weird or awkward, if you had stumbled over your words at all—a little CLINK had you scrambling straight up and smiling at the door yet again. “Welcome to—”
“I just came back to warn you,” Clorinde was only halfway into your shop. She paused for a moment, wondering if she should have said anything at all. “You might get a few more…odd customers in the next few days,”
She didn’t explain herself, and you were thoroughly confused. What exactly was her definition of “odd”? The Duelist had already left before you could say anything, not that you could think of anything to say anyway.
The rest of the day had actually been quite slow, despite Clorinde’s warning. A few gardes came by, an aspiring duelist, a collector…Nothing as surprising as your very first customer of the day.
From 7 in the morning it had turned into 7 in the evening. The short hand of the clock started yet again inching closer to the number 7…it was then, yet again, that the door rattled open and in came a rather grand looking young man, different from all the other customers of the day.
Wriothesley had a greeting at the tip of his tongue. “Hey old man,” or something of the sort. Except, he didn’t see an old man at the counter. “Uhh…” he started, looking around the place as if he was lost.
Something about this man seemed familiar, but you couldn’t place your finger on it.
“If you’re looking for my father, he’s on vacation at the moment,” You help him out, knowing that he probably wasn’t expecting to see you manning the shop. Your eyes dropped to the gauntlets tucked under his arm. “Were you wanting to get those looked at?” Head jerking forward to signal towards his gauntlets.
Wriothesley stood like a deer in headlights in the middle of your shop, now looking more surprised than ever. His eyes narrowed and his hand came up halfway to point at you shyly “You’re Y/N?”
You were taken aback, eyes evidently widening. “…Yes…? Do I…know you?” It was your turn to squint your eyes at him. His black hair was a little unruly, his build was of a seasoned fighter’s. The coat draped on his back gave him a sense of importance, and the way he carried himself screamed of confidence.
No. No lightbulbs came up to give you a clue.
You could only smile sheepishly when he didn’t offer an answer and you had to speak up in the silence. “I’m sorry, I don’t really recall where we met,”
It was only then did he chuckle and finally stepped forward to meet you at the counter, placing his gauntlets atop it. “I don’t blame you. Anyway,” he brushed away the subject quickly and proceeded to tell you that his gauntlets had been feeling a little “clunky”.
You, in all your consciousness, felt horrible that you didn’t recognize someone who seemingly knew who you were. The man, however, seemed like he didn’t want to breach the subject anymore.
“Hmm…?” You bring your hand up to your chin as he finishes complaining about his gauntlets. You scour over them with your eyes and notice a few marks on the glossy finish of it. “This looks like…it’s been damaged,” you rub a finger over the area you’re talking about. “…by…a pistol…” An image of Clorinde passes through your head. "...Are you…a criminal?” You look up to your current customer, a mix of worry and intrigue etched on your face.
Wriothesley blinks, and suddenly bursts into short laughter. “Me? Not recently no,” he answers with a chuckle on his lips.
Then why would Ms. Clorinde shoot at you? Was your first thought. He cuts through your thinking quite fast.
“You can tell this is a pistol mark?” Wriothesley didn’t hide that he was impressed.
“Specifically Ms. Clorinde’s…” You take your hand away from his gauntlet, now wary of your visitor. “Why would she shoot at you?”
“You can even tell it’s Clorinde’s?” He barked out another set of laughter, running his hand through his hair in the process.
“Well…She came by this morning and I had a good look at her pistol, so…” You didn’t elaborate that Clorinde’s pistol was a special kind, it was easy to tell that the marks left on his gauntlets was definitely from her pistol.
“Oh did she?” He seemed to be a very chipper guy. Everything you said, he was somewhat amused by it. It was then that he dismissively waved a hand. “It’s alright, we were just…sparring. I’m the one who told her to come ‘round to your old man’s shop. We went at it too hard and…well, more customers for you,”
“Uh huh…” you start, still unsure. “Well, in any case, I’d like to have your name, please? It’s just good manners to know your customer’s name,” You smile a bit, and quickly add under a whisper “or in this case, my potential killer's,”
Wriothesley hears you, another chuckle emanating from his chest. “It’s Wriothesley,”
Something clicks in your mind. A very, very far off memory.
“…Oh!” One of your hand involuntarily shoots up to your mouth, at the same time your eyes widen, you stare at him “Wriothesley!?” You look him over, up and down, then back to his face. “You…You grew up a lot!”
“So did you!” He has a sincere smile on his face, arms crossing and looking rather proud.
“Oh, oh my Archons,” your hands fumble to find each other and you gather yourself once again, straightening up “I didn’t realize it was you, I’m so sorry. Oh and you’re the Duke now, right? I’m SO sorry, I didn’t mean to call you a criminal—or a killer!” Your words start to skim over each other in your embarrassment and desperation to explain yourself.
Wriothesley gives somewhat of an awkward and guarded smile, if only you knew, “It’s not a problem, just…call me Wriothesley,”
“Right... Right! Erm…” You focus your attention back to his gauntlets. “So these are, uh…just needs a bit of polishing and erm…” You’re still trying to gather your racing thoughts. There were bits and pieces of memories coming back to you that were connected to him. Most of them were from your father, and you quickly recalled that you’d met the Duke as a teenager, just a few odd times, really not a lot. “I have a suspicion as to why you think it’s getting clunky…”
You reach under the table again to look for a tape measure, “Do you mind if I measure your hands?” somehow getting most of your brain and thinking back, you ask him to extend one of his arms out and he complies rather easily.
As usual, you quietly work. Taking various measurements of his wrist, fingers, arm length and the sort.
“…You’ve gotten really good at this,” he remarks, just to fill in the silence. You maintain your concentration and mumble back absentmindedly.
“Mmhmm…Well, I did study this in school…and my father has taught me a lot,”
Wriothesley had wanted to comment that yours was still an extraordinary skill. He didn’t think that you’d be so good at assessing weapons and finding solutions for it, he dare thought that you were getting even better than your old man, but he kept quiet, seeing your concentration.
“As I thought,” you breathe out, rolling the tape measure back into a circle. “Your gauntlets are a tad bit small on you now…you’ve probably gained a bit of muscle, or something,”
“Oh,” was all he could let out, not expecting the answer to be so simple.
“I can resize it…but…” you glance at the clock. 7:32 pm. Way past closing time. “…You can leave it with me and pick it up tomorrow or…come back with it tomorrow? I imagine you might not want to part with it, even just for a night,” You don’t know what the duties of a Duke are, but if he was in charge of Meropide… you guessed that the one thing he really needed with him was his weapon. “I mean, it still fits you, it’s just… not in optimal shape.”
“I understand,” he moves to take the gauntlets back with him, but gives you an appreciative nod. “I’ll come back tomorrow morning then,”
“Okay,” you whisper, holding his gaze, the edges of your mouth turning up the slightest bit. “See you tomorrow then,”
Wriothesley keeps your gaze for only a few moments longer before he gathered his weapon and tucked it under his arm again. He then returns your smile, briefly. He steps away to turn, his coat swaying with him. “See ya,” he throws a hand back as a goodbye and as he exits the store, it is suddenly quiet.
You stand there for a moment to replay the interaction. The quiet helps you organize your thoughts. You can’t help but think that he had grown up to be a good man, and there was no denying that he was good looking—anyone with eyes could see that—you hum a bit, and keep the thoughts to yourself.
You close the shop up, feeling rather good of how the unexpected events of the day unfolded, and went to sleep easily.

You got out of work quickly today. And the first thing you did was start working on the new paperwork given to you this morning.
It is 4:30pm and your boyfriend, Neuvillette, will be back from work in thirty minutes or so. Unless he’s stopping by Café Lutece with the melusines for tea. You began preparing dinner for him beforehand since you’ll be busy the whole evening. As the clock struck 5pm, you heard the sound of keys clicking at your front door. And before you immerse yourself in work, you left a note on the dinner table,
Welcome home love, I’m sorry that I am unable to dine with you tonight. I’ve got tons of paperwork to finish.
Enjoy your meal
I love you.
Your fav chérie ❤️
After reading your sweet note, Neuvillette has a soft smile on his face turning to look at different types of dishes laid on the table and suddenly wonders how lucky he is to have such a lovely and thoughtful lady as his significant other.
Days like this are totally normal for the two of you since you both have important jobs. But you guys always managed to find time to be together. Instead of going to the office to greet you he went to your shared bedroom and took a nice warm bath after a long day. Sadly you weren’t able to join him because he’d prefer taking a bath with you more. Then settle down to eat dinner.
When he finished eating, he prepared some snacks and tea for you. He knocked on the door, “May I come in love?” you hummed a “yes” instead of speaking because you were so concentrated on the documents. Neuvillette walked in on you focused, eyebrows slightly knitted together, hand on your chin and the other spinning a pen. He felt his cheek and ears burn slightly just from the sight in front of him.
Your boyfriend has finally gotten out of his trance as your voice softly calls him, “Neuvi?” with your eyes glued on the papers. Seeing that you got no response back, you turn to the side only to be met with his soft lips on yours. You smiled into the kiss and pulled away. Neuvillette took that as a chance to press his forehead against yours and rubbed his nose against yours. “I missed you.” He softly admitted. “I missed you too”, you responded back with a peck on his lips.
“I brought you snacks and tea ma chérie”, your boyfriend said as he walked towards his desk to grab some documents. He gave you a kiss after retrieving the items needed. “I’ll see you later in bed?” he asked with a soft tone in his voice. “Mhm, see you handsome” .
It’s getting quite late, Neuvillette has already gone to bed, you thought. But he’s been shifting back and forth. He keeps extending his arm to the side next to him, hoping you’d be in bed. And to feel nothing but air and the bedsheet. He turns to the side once again, before he finally decides to get up and to bring you to bed. He groans as he gets up, his long silky hair swiftly moving along his movements as he heads towards the office.
You, on the other hand, had just finished your hellish paperworks and oh god you took a glance at the clock, 11:11pm. Suddenly the door swung open when you turned off the table lamp. The room was dark but you could still make out your boyfriend’s pouty face from the moonlight’s lights shining through the window. “I’m sorry baby”, you placed a hand on his cheek and apologized. He leaned in your touch and lifted you in bridal style and walked towards your shared bedroom.
Neuvillette laid you down gently in bed and scooped you in his arms, pulling you closer then spoons you. “I couldn’t sleep without you”, he tiredly mumbled. With a smile on your face you replied back, “I know, now go sleep Neuvi”. You turn and give him a quick kiss “Sweet dreams love”.

Aqua Regia I: cutting through the darkness, bouncing off the walls.
Next chapter

Neuvillette x fem!reader
Word count: 2.2k
You become the assistant to the new ruler of Fontaine. (Set after the Fontaine archon quests, so spoilers if you haven’t already done it.)
Authors note: its finally here! I’ve separated it into chapters out for ease of reading. It should all be up within the next week or so. This is mostly sfw, a little suggestive at times, but the final chapter will contain nsfw content. Series name and chapter titles are from my literal favourite song ever, aqua regia by sleep token. It’s a very fitting song for this story. Enjoy!
———————————
The sun had not even reached its peak in the sky, dew still glistening on the cypress trees in the gardens outside, and already Neuvillette was pinching his brow, eyes feeling heavy as he slaved over the seemingly endless pile of paperwork that was stacked upon his desk.
Sedene entered his office without knocking, a common occurrence, and one that never bothered him before— only worrying him now because he didn’t want her to see the way his shoulders slumped slightly— an incredibly unprofessional posture.
“Monsieur Neuvillette, your 10 o’clock appointment has arrived.” She said, eyeing him from her spot in the doorway.
He nearly jumped, but kept his calm facade as he shuffled around the papers on his desk, looking for his schedule for the day, but it seemed it was lost to the void of unfinished work he was drowning in.
“My apologies, Sedene, I seem to have misplaced the itinerary I had written out for the day, would you remind me who it is I am meeting with?”
Sedene smiled, her eyes soft. “It’s Miss Charlotte, from The Steambird. You agreed to an interview with her last week, Your Honor.”
“Sedene, please,” Neuvillette sighed, though his tone remained light and pleasant. “The formal honorifics outside of the courtroom are far from necessary.”
“Alright, sir.” The melusine smiled. “Shall I send her in?”
Neuvillette tried to right himself, stacking his finished documents and unfinished work in separate piles to seem organized, though he would probably regret it later.
“Yes, please.” He said. “And if you have the time, perhaps some tea? I’m sure she’ll be here for a good while.”
Sedene nodded, turning to leave, before the Iudex called out to her again. “Sedene?”
“Yes, sir?”
“I believe…” he let the tension fall from his shoulders finally, giving up on trying to hide his weariness from her. “I believe I’m in need of some aid, if I am to continue this way.”
Sedene just hid a chuckle behind her soft hand. “Perhaps you should ask Miss Charlotte to put an ad in the newspaper?”
With his final acceptance of his situation, he nodded. “Perhaps.”
—————
“—And then I told him that there was no need, I had the perfect candidate in mind, and if he did not like you, then I would put the ad in the paper— although I told him there was absolutely no way he wouldn’t completely adore you altogether.”
You listened to your friend talk animatedly, finally hearing her take a breath without continuing her thought. You certainly loved Charlotte, but conversations about things like work and her other passions tended to be relatively one-sided.
“I’m sorry, just to reiterate, you personally recommended me to the chief justice for a position as his personal assistant?”
“Of course! You were a PA at the steambird for so long, and you did so well there, everyone loved you!” She grinned, taking another sip of her tea.
The café was rather packed today, and your macarons sat perfectly stacked in a cute pile on your plate. Your favourite desert by far, and café Lutece’s were second only to the treats made by Miss Navia herself.
“Yes, but that was the Steambird.” You said, tracing a finger over the delicate shell of the top macaron on the pile. “We’re talking about the chief justice here— the new ruler of Fontaine— how are we even supposed to address him now?”
You started to panic a little, not used to interacting with nobility, let alone the person of the highest social status in all of Fontaine— overlooking the love the citizens still held for lady Furina, of course.
“I’m not sure, but you’ll get to ask him tomorrow!” Charlotte exclaimed, making you gawk at her. “I knew you were free so I arranged a meeting for you tomorrow at noon! Isn’t it exciting?”
Your heart dropped into your stomach, then did a couple loops around there before it lurched into your throat.
“Charlotte! I really appreciate you doing this for me, but I am woefully underprepared for this? What am I supposed to do? What will I even wear? Do I need to bring a resume? List of references? What—“
“Woah, woah,” Charlotte reached across the table, running a soothing hand down your forearm. “It’s not that serious, he’d just like to meet you over some tea at the Palais. He’s not all that intimidating after you meet him, hun. I promise you I wouldn’t have put you up to this if I wasn’t one hundred percent confident in you.”
Your breathing settled a bit as she comforted you, though your mind was still racing.
“You’ve got this in the bag.” Charlotte smiled, and you hoped she was right.
——————
You smoothed your hands over your skirt nervously as you made your way to the steps outside the Palais Mermonia.
You wore the nicest outfit you owned that didn’t stray into formal wear territory, not that you had many dresses of that caliber.
A dress, cut just above the knee, a beautiful deep blue color. A matching ribbon tied around the collar of the white puff sleeved undershirt, and a navy waistcoat cinched tightly in the back with a bow. Paired with your nicest stockings and a lovely pair of boots that Miss Navia had gotten you last year for your birthday, you looked every bit the part of an upper class citizen of Fontaine.
Your insecurities ate at you, but you fixed a stray hair and smiled at the cute little dog dressed in a guard uniform that was trotting outside the lift. You were on high alert, but seeing everyone standing around, acting normally, enjoying the sunshine— well that made it seem a little better.
You greeted Liath as she skipped around the entrance, feeling even better as she smiled brightly at you. You made it a point to personally get to know all the melusine around the city, finding them to be extremely fascinating beings, and upon doing so, learning that they were among the sweetest, kindest people you’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
“I heard you’re going to be working here!” Liath said, throwing her arms out in excitement. “That will be so lovely! I will get to see you every day!”
You giggled a bit, not wanting to burst her bubble. “It’s just an interview, Liath. Nothing is set in stone just yet.”
“Well I just know you’re going to get the job, you’re so very lovely.”
You pressed a hand over your heart, feeling your face heat up.
“You always say the kindest things when we speak, I'm very flattered. I hope I get the job too.”
She wished you good luck and sent you off, and you entered the building with your heart once again in your throat.
You walked through towards the head office, nodding at the gestionnaire ladies who were working diligently at their tables before you heard your name ring out from the end of the hall.
Sedene scurried out from behind her station, coming to greet you.
“Sedene!” You exclaimed. “It’s been a while, you look so beautiful! are you doing something new with your hair?”
She smiled sheepishly, pawing at her hair under her hat. “Miss Seigewinne got me some new hair oils, imported from Liyue! They’re very lovely, and smell just heavenly!” She leaned towards you, tilting her head in offering. “Here, smell!”
You giggled again, a little taken aback, but leaned in to smell her anyway. True to her word, Sedenes hair smelled just lovely, sweet and floral, yet unlike anything you’d ever smelled here in Fontaine.
“Oh, wow, that's beautiful!” You said. “The next time I go to see the Duke, I’ll have to ask Seigewinne where exactly she got it from.”
Sedene agreed, and pointed towards the door to your right. “He should be ready for you, I brought the tea in just a moment ago.”
Dread tried to creep its way back into your throat, but Sedene reached up to take your hands into her soft paws.
“I wouldn’t worry if I were you,” Was all she said before she smiled and skipped back to her station.
You walked swiftly to the doors, and before you lost your nerve creaked them open and peaked inside.
The chief justice was at his desk, eyes flitting over a document held loosely in his hand. He looked so regal and intimidating, his clothes finely pressed and tailored to fit him exceptionally well. Upon your entry, his gaze snapped up, and you swore you could see the faintest hints of embarrassment cross his face.
Your name fluttered past his lips as he stood, and you shivered a bit at the way his voice uttered the word.
“My apologies, I did not hear you enter. My attention seems to be scattered as of late.”
“No, no, please.” You said, stepping further into the room as the door closed audibly behind you. “It’s my fault, I should have knocked first.”
“Your arrival was anticipated, and Sedene must have sent you through, therefore there was no need for you to knock, I assure you.”
Neuvillette walked closer to you, holding out his hand for you to shake. You took it,  trying to remember everything you were ever taught about shaking someone’s hand during interviews, but taken aback at how large his hands seemed compared to yours.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” Neuvillette said, his hand grasping yours just a beat longer than normal before he pulled away, gesturing to the chair he had set up in front of his desk. “I’ve heard so much about you, please, have a seat.”
He pulled the chair out, the perfect gentleman, pushing it back under you as you folded your hands under your skirt to tuck it under your bottom, sitting down.
He rounded the desk and said down, pouring you a cup of tea before sliding the tray of additives closer to you.
“All good things, I hope?” You said, adding your preferred mixture of extras to your tea.
“Pardon?” Neuvillette seemed a bit distracted, his eyes jumping back to you from where he seemed to be zoning out.
“You said that you’ve heard a lot about me,” you said, smiling over the rim of your teacup. Your confidence grew with each passing moment in his office, he just seemed so… normal. A bit scattered—as much as he seemed to try to hide it, which made your chest feel light and airy—but so normal. “I was just hoping they’re all good things.”
He blinked at you, gears finally clicking into place, before a bit of a sheepish look crept onto his face.
“Ah, well— yes.” He said, picking up his teaspoon and stirring his tea despite not putting anything in it. “You came highly recommended by Miss Charlotte, and upon hearing of this meeting, a multitude of melusines came to sing your praises, which shocked me a little, but I have heard them speak of you in passing, so I suppose my surprise was short lived.”
“They speak of me?” You asked, feeling a bit flustered.
“I’ve heard your name more than once.” He said, taking a sip of his tea. “The girls tend to talk about those who are kindest to them quite a lot, they are all rather fond of you.”
“Are you close to them?” You asked, already knowing half the answer. “They all speak quite fondly of you.”
He smiled a bit brighter. “I like to think I am. They are the pride of Fontaine, and therefore I take much pride in them as well.”
You found yourself staring at his smile.
You’d only ever seen Neuvillette in the occasional trial you attended. He was always stone faced, serious, and oh so untouchable. High, high up in his seat, looking down on all others. Seeing him here, you couldn’t help but think he looked so very human.
“To the matter at hand,” he said, clearing his throat and sitting up a bit straighter in his seat. “I will not lie to you, since Lady Furina stepped down I have had an influx of responsibilities to take on, and while I am fully prepared to do so—I find myself in need of…”
He seemed a bit lost, maybe a bit embarrassed.
“Some help?” You said softly.
He sighed. “Yes. Even with all of her frivolity and splendor, Lady Furina did take on her fair share of duties when it came to making sure Fontaine stayed well functioning and stable.”
Neuvillette seemed a bit wistful then, slightly sad, staring off into the space just beside your head.
“Monsieur?”
“Ah, forgive me.” He seemed to shake himself out of it. “I am deeply honored to be entrusted with the care of his nation, but it seems like some assistance would be extremely beneficial to this transitionary period in time, and likely beyond as well.”
“If I may say so, sir, I think you’re doing a wonderful job already.” You thought about how well the crisis of the flood was handled, the aftermath, the reparations. “I would be honored if you chose me to be the one to aid you in this.”
He smiled again, softly, and you hoped you’d be able to see it more in the future.
“Thank you,” he said. “I would be so very grateful.”

A/n: Hi! Thank you for the request! So sorry this took so long to come out. I got lazy and accidentally deleted half of my work while writting. But this was a fun request! I got to look into honey badgers, who are such interesting animals, and (Y/n)'s personality is based on a honey badger!
Tumblr media
Living on the streets of Fontaine isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Sure you have to scavenge for food people have already eaten, fight other kids ten times your size, and be ridiculed out in public by people for your ears and tail but you hide them under a coat so it's no problem.
Your days are usually slow with you getting out of bed at whatever time. You then head to Café Lutece in the morning you swipe food off empty tables, which are pretty tasty, sometimes. You then go down to Fleuve Cendre and see if there are any jobs that can earn you a few mora. These jobs usually require you to deliver illegal luggage somewhere, slip something in someone's drink, or whatever the commissioner wants. These jobs are usually highly illegal but they pay so well that you don't complain. Not to brag but you were pretty good at it. After that, you get lunch depending on how much you earn from the commission. Once nightfall comes you have to go and find a place to sleep. There's one spot on the roof of the court that every street kid in the city fights over and you are always the one to take the spot. No kids in Fontaine have weapons that they can fight you with, but you have your claws. These can rip and shred any kid who tries to take your night spot. These street kids know to leave you and your spot alone for the most part.
But today when you got to your spot you found three young adults sitting in your night spot. Two boys and one girl. The first boy was wearing a top hat with clean-looking clothes. The second boy was wearing some kind of sailor hat. The girl was some sort of hybrid with a cat because she had cat ears and a tail, her outfit was similar to the first boy's outfit but blue. These were definitely not street kids and you had no idea how they got here.
"AY!" You yelled the three turned around in surprise. "Get out of my night spot unless you wanna pay for hospital bills tomorrow."
The first boy stood up "So sorry about this, we will be finished in a min-,"
"No." You snap at him "You'll finish now or I kick your asses all the way to Sumeru and back."
"You know you shouldn't be talking like that to people who are much stronger than you." He flashed his pyro vision to you and the girl and the other boy does so too. He gave you a threatening smile. "Give us a minute."
Fun Fact about honey badger: It is said to be the most unbothered animal as stated in the Guinness Book of World Records. So unbothered in fact that they go up against lions and venom snakes.
So when the man threatened you, the words went in one ear and came out the other.
"So? You got a rock that glows. You're still in my spot."
"You're quite the feisty one aren't ya?"
"..."
The girl sighed and got up. "It's not worth it Lyney. Let's go," And with that, they stood up and left your spot. They only moved across the roof away from you but it was enough away where you could sleep without hitting them.
As you lay down you could feel those people's eyes on you. You supposed they were still mad at you for making them move but you didn't care as long as they didn't bother you.
The next morning you wake up, expecting all three people to be gone, instead, you find the cat girl and the quiet boy gone. But the giant top hat man is still there. He was sat, just staring at you.
You thought of saying something to him, but you didn't care all that much. If he was gonna be a creep let him. As long as it didn't impede on your day. You continued with your day as usual. The first thing you needed to do was get some breakfast. There was a nearby cafe, Café Lutece, where you could wait for people to finish eating and then take their leftover food. Their outside seating made it easier for you to grab food
As you got up from your "bed" the boy also got up at the same time. He had an unmoving smile on his face. It unsettled you to your core. But you carried on with your day thinking he would leave. But no instead he followed you to the cafe. You couldn't help but sneer in disgust at the people there they were all dressed in the finest clothes and eating the most expensive food and they paid no mind to the suffering population of Fontaine. You staked out in the bushes. Your unusually thick skin helped you not feel the branches poking you.
As you stalked and waited for someone to leave, the top hat guy sat down at the shop. A few people leave but the waiters are quick to take the extra food before you can grab it. It looked like you're gonna have to skip breakfast for today until the top-hat guy left his table. You race to his table and find that most of if not all the food has remained untouched. There was a chocolate croissant, grapes, and bread with a side of jam. You stuff your mouth with food immediately for some reason it tastes better than usual.
Now with your stomach full you headed down to Fleuve Cendre to see if there were any jobs. For some reason, the man in the top hat is still following you. He seems harmless enough and you don't care enough to ask him what he's doing.
When you get down to Fleuve Cendre you are lucky enough to find someone who will pay you 5,000 mora to jump some rich asshole, you take to job without a second thought. That amount of mora could pay for a whole week of lunches! The commissioner hands you a picture of the guy with his name on the back and a letter. He gives you his instructions and sends you off to complete the commission.
You were about to head off to beat up the victim when you realized that the top-hat guy was still following you. He kept a good distance from you but you could still tell he was following you. You had to find a way to lose him.
The commissioner said the guy worked on the northside of the court so if I get this top hat guy lost on the west side of the court you can hope that you'll never have to see him again. Right next to the entrance of Fleuve Cendre, there was an ally that had pipes that were easy enough to climb up to the roof.
You put your plan into motion and quickly ran to the ally as soon as you were out of the sewers. You looked behind yourself to see if he was chasing after you but to your surprise, he was slowly walking towards you. Once you got to the ally you jumped from wall to wall, latching onto the piping as you scaled the wall. When you got atop the roof you wasted no time a sprit off to the location the commissioner gave you.
Arriving at the meet point you saw that the man in the picture was already there. The man's name was Louis and he had scammed some big gang out of the mora he promised them. All you had to do was to give him some lame excuse to get him to a secluded spot where you could beat the guy up.
Jumping down from the roof you ran up to the guy in a hurry. "Sir! Please! I need your help!" You exclaim while tugging on the man's sleeve.
"What?! Don't touch me! Gods, you street rats are filthy!" So he's a man who only cares about himself? You were originally gonna say that your friend got injured and you needed to help carry her to a hospital, but you have another idea now.
You release your hands from the man's clothes and bow to him. "I'm so sorry sir, but my master has injured himself. Please I need help carrying him to a hospital,"
The man looks hesitant "Who is your master anyway?"
Oh shit. I didn't think about that. I just need the name of a rich person. "U-uh, his name is uh, Abreo! Sir Abreo!" You heard it from a girl while she was having her breakfast this morning.
"S-sir Abreo!" That name seemed to do the trick as his demeanor immediately changed. "Well, why didn't you say so! Lead the way!"
Perfect everything was going to plan. Once he was cornered in the ally you sprinted forward and ran Louis straight into the wall. It was a blur after that. When you came to Louis' body was full of bruises, long claw marks, and blood dripping down his nose. The commissioner said to leave the letter they handed you in his hand and to take a picture of the guy beat up. Once you did that you left the scene without a second look back. If you did look back, you would have found top hat guy admiring your work.
Once you got back to the commissioner you showed him the picture that you got at the job. He gave you a pat on the back and handed you your sack of mora. You decided to get yourself a little treat and went to a nearby vending machine that sold Fonta. This would have been the plan if you had not been stopped in your tracks by that guy in the top hat blocking the exit of Fleuve Cendre.
He was leaning against the wall facing you while playing with a deck of cards. "You know, I haven't seen someone with features like you before." the strange man lifted himself off the wall and started taking slow steps toward you. "Nor, have I seen someone who can take on a full-grown man at your age with only raw skill. And from the looks of it, not strength from how weak you look"
Wait, how did he know you did that? Had he still been following you? And did he just call you weak?!
"I've been following you around for the day and I have to say you would make a perfect addition to the house!"
"Hm? What are you even talking about stalker?" You quirked your eyebrow still wondering what he was talking about.
"The house of the hearth of course!" He said, "We take in orphans, such as yourself, who we see have the potential to thrive in the house! And you have earned yourself an invite with that show of talent today!"
"Nah, I don't do orphanages they'r-,"
"We offer three meals daily and a warm place to sleep."
"Deal."
Tumblr media
The house wasn't what you expected. You learned that the boy who recruited you was named Lyney. He directed you to a shared room where you slept with ten other kids about your age, you each had your own bed so you didn't have to fight each other for one. And it was apparently a rule not to fight each other?! It was a strange house for sure.
You met with some of the younger kids. They poked and pulled at your tail and ears. They asked so many questions like:
"Why do you have ears and a tail?"
"Because I'm a hybrid."
"Of what animal?"
"I don't know."
"Why not?"
"Uhh..."
"Why doesd your hair have two strips and not three?"
"I-,"
"I like the number three better than two so you should have two strips!"
"Uhhhhhhhhh...."
"Okay, guys let's leave (Y/n) alone and stop asking them so many questions." An older girl said as a younger boy pulled you away from the children. These two were the others on the roof that night. You learned that the girl's name was Lynette and the boy's name was Freminet. They were both the quiet type and didn't speak that much, you didn't know if it was because they were shy or introverted. But something was telling you that it was both.
"Sorry about that," The girl spoke, "They get rowdy when they meet new people who look different."
"It's fine,"
An awkward silence falls around you three until Freminet speaks up "So, um how are you adjusting?"
"I'm alright, it's weird switching from the streets to a warm house."
"Tell me about it," Lynette said, "When Lyney and I moved from streets to here we were having trouble sleeping a full 8 hours."
"You lived on the streets?" You're surprised considering how well they've adjusted to high society, being famous magicians and all.
"Yeah, the spot where we met you was actually where we used to sleep. We went back there to show Freminet where we used to live,"
"And he was appalled by the condition we had to go through!" A voice behind them said over dramatically. You pecked over the siblings' shoulders to see Lyney with his hand over his heart like he was wounded.
Lynette rolled her eyes at Lyney and Freminet began to defend himself.
"I-i did not! When did I say this to you?!"
"I heard it at every place we showed you 'Oh poor Lyney and Lynette!' 'They went through such hardship!' "
Lynette scoffs at this "Lyney, stop that,"
He sighed and relaxed his body "I'm only teasing dear sister! I just like teasing our little Freminet." The magician says while pinching the younger boy's cheeks.
"I'm not that much younger than you you know?" He says swatting his brothers hand from his cheek
"Yes, but you'll still be shorter than me," Lyney says with a wink. "Anyways, I came here to grab (Y/n)!"
"Hm? What for?" you ask curiously.
"I am going to assess your fighting skills." You say goodbye to Lynette and Freminet for now and Lyney walks you to the training grounds. This place is filled with all types of weaponry from swords to crossbows. You're sure that this one room would be enough weapons for an army.
"Here," Lyney snaps you out of your trance and hands you a wooden sword. "The first person to step out of the circle loses."
"Hm? What's this for?"
"For your fighting assessment,"
"Nah, I don't need it," You say as you toss the sword to the side. You honestly have no idea how to use it. "I just need nothin' but my bare hand and 2 minutes. I can push you out of the circle."
"Oh my, confident are we? Why? You think I'll get scared?"
"You said it, not me. If it makes you feel safer, you can use a real sword if you want." Even if the sword hits you it not like it would cut you, you have incredibly thick skin that can't be pierced by just any blade. But you weren't gonna tell him that.
"Hehe, the fight begins when I say 'go'." He says ignoring your last statement.
"Three," He gets into a fighting stance.
"Two," You do the same and you bring your fist up.
"One." You take a breath from your mouth.
"...Go."
Lyney rushes fast at you with his sword ready to hit your face. You block with your arm and Lyney's sword lands on your forearm. He attempts to use the sword to push you backward and out of the circle. But you manage to stay in place by grounding your feet.
You lean your arms back and push Lyney away from you. "Impressive I didn't expect this much strength from you." You ignore his comment and decide to attack first this time. You speed towards Lyney he raises his sword expecting you to go for the face but instead at the last second you drop down on your knees and chop the inside of his knees causing him to fall on his knees.
"HA! Got you!" You say as you grab Lyney by his shoulder and walk him out of the circle.
"Impressive!" He said with a smirk.
"I won! That's one point for me!" You say proudly.
"Actually, I won."
"What?! No! I won fair and square I got you to leave the circle."
"Uh-uh," He said shaking his finger at you. "I said the first person to leave the circle loses. And when you decided to drag me out of the circle you also stepped outside of it first. So I won that round!"
"W-what?! That's not fair!"
"It's perfectly fair! Come on let us go again and I won't go as easy on you this time." He said with a wink. "And this time try not to lose unknowingly
"That was a one-time thing!" You bark back at him.
After a bit of Lyney's training assessment, he excused you to go have some lunch. He said he had to practice a magic performance with his twin Lynette and his brother Freminet. The lunch for today was a beat salad, creamy pasta, and a warm slice of bread on the side. But your favorite was the honey packet. And good archons you LOVED this damn packet!
The first day you were here you were sat down in a fancy room with a lady discussing what would happen when you entered the hearth and the rules you would have to follow. Bored by her incessant yapping you looked around the room for entertainment. Your eyes landed on a small pack that came with your tea you had been served. It had words written in yellow lettering on it. You couldn't read so you had no idea what it said. You ripped the thing open and watched as a golden substance leaked out of it. You sniffed it first, it had a sweet and kinda fruity smell to it. You then licked it. The golden substance coated your tongue in a sweet thick coat. You were entranced by the taste.
"Mx. (L/n)?" The woman across from spoke up. "Are you alright?"
You jump up from your seat launching yourself from your seat to the lady across from you. "WHAT IS THIS SUBSTANCE?!" You shove the pocket in her face while the golden syrup drips onto your hand.
The lady jumped back in surprise, "M-mx. (L/n), please calm yourself!"
"I have never tasted anything so amazing in my life." You stared at the small packet as if it hypnotized you.
"It is called honey..."
"Honey..." You sit back down while you keep staring at the golden liquid.
"Yes, can we get back to the matter at hand please? Now, other operatives will..." After that, she talked about some other thing but you could not think about anything else but the honey packet in front of you and took small licks so you could savor the flavor of the packet.
After the meeting, you specifically asked the person serving food every day if they could give you honey packets.
Back at the present time you were enjoying your lunch when other orphans from the hearth entered the cafeteria. To your surprise, they made it a point to sit next to you every day. Specifically Celine and Adrien, (They are not cannon in the games they are oc) Celine is close to you in age while Adrien is one of the adults that have aged out of the orphanage but still works for the fatui.
"Hey, little critter." You feel a hand come down on your head and ruffle your ears. You grumble at the gesture. You look behind you to see Adrien, he's the only one in this place who dose that to you and it annoys you so much.
"Adrien, stop doing that too (Y/n)." You turn back around to see Celine sitting across from you. She also places a book next to her and opens it.
"I would but I how can I leave these cute ears alone without any love." He says as he grabs your ears and shifts them back and forth on your head.
"Hey! Stop that dude!" You finally speak up and swat away his hands from your head.
He sighs dramatically and flops into the seat next to you. "Fine, I'll stop... But just for today." He says with a wink.
A different voice appears across from you "Maybe they'd let you touch them more if you just asked first." Freminet speaks as he places his plate on the table next to Celine.
"Nah, this is more fun." Adrien chuckles.
"Even if you did ask I still wouldn't let you touch them."
"Oh hi, Freminet," Celine greets the boy, "Are Lyney and Lynette on a mission right now?"
"Oh, no I just wanted to sit here today." He said sheepishly. You all continue to eat your lunch with light conversation when you turn to your side to see Lyney looking over the cafeteria when his eyes land on your table. He starts rushing towards the table.
"Shit!" Freminet ducks under the table in a rush.
"Hm? Frem what are you doing?" Celine looks down on him with her mouth full of food.
"Just ignore me! Pretend I'm not here!" He says in a hushed tone.
Just as he says that Lyney appears behind you with Lynette close behind him. "My dear siblings! Have you seen Freminet we need him to serve as a part of our show! And I believe I just saw him over here for a second."
You give him a questioning look and, unintentionally, your eyes go from Lyney's eyes to the ground under the table.
"Thank you (Y/n)!" Lyney says still with his creepy smile on his face.
"Wait what?" You say confused about what you did but then Lyney crouches down and yanks a pair of legs from under the table. He drags Freminet from under the table and hoists him on his shoulders.
"(Y/n) how could you!" He says as he reaches out for you. You watch as Lyney and Lynette exit the room with an unwilling Freminet on his shoulders.
Man, this is a weird ass family.

𝑃𝑅𝑂𝐿𝑂𝐺𝑈𝐸 — BEVERAGE GANG

𝑆𝑌𝑁𝑂𝑃𝑆𝐼𝑆 —
Second year of university should've been everything you thought of it - more studying with human interaction sprinkled throught... What it definitely wasn't supposed to be was an investigation saga where one of your friends goes missing out of nowhere
Tumblr media
There was something about group projects early into the semester that filled people with uncertainty — for one, your grade was dependent on others doing their part… as well as having to deal with the awkwardness that came with not knowing each other that well…
Lyney was now experiencing it first hand, being stuck with a partner that they simply knew due to sitting next to each other on “The History of Theatre”. Luckily for him, the lovely girl he ended up with was practically more knowledgeable on this topic than their lecturer.
On the other hand, she was a disorganised mess… as he managed to observe so far.
“I am so sorry…” Furina sighed, searching her bag for notes a classmate had asked for their shared project. “I must’ve left my folder at my desk this morning…”
“Whoa, whoa. You don’t have to apologise.” Lyney — the classmate in question — was stuck trying to console her, finding the apologetic behaviour of hers unnecessary. “It happens to all of us!” He did his best to cheer the panicked girl up… which seemed to be working, at least partially.
In the blink of an eye, she got an idea, taking her phone out and deciding to call someone.
“Please, please, please pick up— Hiii!” Her call went through and thus began her explanation of the situation. She stopped in the middle of her monologue, having realised something crucial. “Wait, I forgot to ask! Are you still home?”
“I was almost out the door.” Lyney could hear a deeper voice on the other end. “You are the last person that would make a phone call, so I picked up in case it was an emergency.”
Furina, reassured by this knowledge, soon resumed her pleas of getting the folder delivered by her roommate, which by the steadily rising voice tone seemed to be going well.
“You’re going to be at Café Lutece? We can go get there and pick it up!”
And that’s how Lyney ended up here. Sitting at a lovely establishment with his project partner… and a guy, with who he had major beef ever since starting university. All due to a singular game of Valorant.
While Lyney’s only interaction with him was their twitter banter turning into said one-on-one match in the game… According to Furina, he has been nothing short of being a lovely guy and an amazing friend.
From what she mentioned, they had become friends thanks to a well-timed suggestion at a tea shop one time. Something about her favourite brand discontinuing one of the flavours… and her being deprived of her lovely peach and raspberry beverage.
“Neuvi should be here in a minute, quite the luck you managed to get ahold of him in time, Furu.” Wriothesley said, taking a sip of his coffee. He has been stealing occasional glances at the two of them ever since they got to the café.
During Lyney and Furina’s walk to the café, she mentioned how Wriothesley was a frequent visitor here on his breaks between work… and so-called ‘Neuvi’ was meeting here with him to give back something he borrowed a while back, whatever it was.
“I know right… He said something about me being the last person to make a call, and picking up in case it was serious” She executed her best Neuvillette voice, being surprisingly spot on.
Wriothesley couldn’t help but chuckle at the girl’s impression of their friend. Even Lyney seemed to ease after witnessing it.
“That’s quite a good impression, compared to what I heard on the phone call.” He said, grinning. “Are you sure that the seriousness in the tone isn’t a bit exaggerated, though?” Spoken like a true performance art major.
Furina smirked, flipping her hair dramatically. “Someone has to keep things interesting around here.”
Just then, the doors to Café Lutece swung open, and a tall and slender figure stepped in, scanning the room briefly before locking eyes with his childhood friend. Neuvillette with his calm demeanour soon approached the table, the missing folder in his hand.
“Here you go.” He greeted her, handing her the file folder. “You ought to be more mindful of your things.”
The girl accepted the folder with a grateful smile. “Thanks a bunch, Neuvi! You’re a lifesaver.”
Neuvillette nodded, his gaze briefly shifting to Lyney, then to Wriothesley. An unreadable expression crossed his face before he returned his attention to the short male. “I don’t think we’ve ever met. I’m Neuvillette” He reached his hand out to shake Lyney’s.
“Lyney.” He shook his hand. “Pleasure to meet you and huge thanks for coming through with the docs!”
Neuvillette offered a polite nod. "It was no trouble. Good luck with your project."
As Furina and Lyney started to gather their things to leave, Wriothesley who had been listening in finally spoke up. “Why not join the two of us for coffee? Now that you have the notes, surely you could spare some time for the two of us.”
At Wriothesley's suggestion, Lyney and Furina stared at each other, silently figuring out his proposal.
“I can pay for your drink, as apologises.” Furina offered, looking the boy right in the eye.
“I don't mind staying, as long as you stop being so apologetic, holy…” Lyney smiled awkwardly. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone apologise so much for such a silly thing.”
“To be completely honest, it is her fault.” Neuvillette declared, getting a look from the group.
“Neuvillette… you will get yourself kicked out of the house again if you don’t shut up right this second.” Wriothesley countered, being met with a confused look on Lyney’s face. “Their water bill is atrocious. Don't ask.”
With that, Lyney and Furina retook their seats, and the group settled into an unexpected but somewhat pleasant camaraderie. The initial awkwardness began to melt away as the conversation turned to lighter topics, ranging from the topics of university projects to computer games. Even Lyney and Wriothesley managed to find common ground once the topic of favourite café items came around.
The day may not have started exactly how Lyney would predict it, but it ended on the best note possible. Although nobody at the time voiced it, this was the day when the group of friends had expanded into its final form… thanks to bonding over beverages of all things.

The Luteces x reader (”How come you never do that with us?”)
Request: Hello, I don't know if this is where we can make requests but if so could I please have prompt 26“How come you never do that with me?” with the luteces and reader? (If you are comfortable writing for a poly (not really??) relationship of course). This prompt gave me the idea of the reader being very affectionate with friends but not with them even if they are dating because the Luteces really don't seem to like physical affection and all... Anyways, your work is lovely, thank you for writing them!!
Fandom: Bioshock
Warnings: None
Genre: Fluff

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Robert and Rosalind Lutece watched from the steps of their home as their significant other, (y/n) had their arms wrapped around a friend of theirs. The Luteces looked emotionless as they both watched the love of their lives hanging off of someone that wasn’t either of them.
Not that (y/n) was ever affectionate with the Luteces. The twins wanted nothing more than for their significant other to wrap the two with kisses and other forms of affection but (y/n) simply wouldn’t.
The Luteces wanted to find out why.
With stern gazes, the Luteces watched as (y/n)’s friend slowly sauntered off of the property and down the road, finally far from the throuple.
The twins waited until (y/n) was facing them and only a few feet away to finally explain their concerns, "How come you never do that with us?" They spoke in unison, which would be creepy for anyone else but (y/n) was used to it.
To answer the question, “Do what?”
Rosalind, being a tad less patient of the two, dragged them inside the large establishment before she and her brother explained their frustrations.
The Luteces stood in front of (y/n), finding their composure before they spoke to their partner, "Why do you only show affection to everyone else-" started Robert.
"But not us?" Rosalind finished.
(Y/n) knew that they had some explaining to do. They never really pegged the twins to be the romantic or affectionate type. So, (y/n) never bothered to try, even when the three decided to start a relationship.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't think either of you liked physical contact,”(y/n) explained.
The twins glanced at each other, silently seeming to communicate before they surrounded (y/n); one in front of them and one behind.
“Then let us convince you,” Robert said.
Robert stood in front of (y/n), one hand interlaced with (y/n)’s and his other rested on their hip, tugging them close enough to feel their heartbeat through their chest. While Rosalind was behind (y/n), wrapping her arms around their incredibly nervous form, moving as close as she could to the two in front of her.
"I know that we look busy most of the time, but we absolutely love you and crave your affection, so please don't hold back," Rosalind finished.
You worked yourself in your new dress you bought a few days ago for occasions like this while listening to the gramophone (Song linked on the top).You and Robert wanted to spent the afternoon with each other, walking around the streets of a bright and sunny Columbia while taking a stop at a coffee shop and wasting dreaming looks into the endless blue of the sky.Before you were able to finish dressing up Robert stepped into the doorway and leaned against the frame.
"No." he said as his glance turned from you to the opened balcony door. "No?" you raised your eyebrow. Robert walked towards you.His hands rested on your shoulders. "Well yes, a no from me."No mimic in his face. "Now I suppose you have a better suggestion?" You turned around leaving him staring at your back while bending down, slipping out of your shoes.Robert accepted the situation and took a tight grip of your hip, pushing you against him. The next second he bent over your back placing a few slow and soft kisses from the top of your head down to the end of your neck, his crotch pressing against your butt. You turned yourself around in his grip facing him and smiling into his eyes. He slightly smiled back, placing a rushed kiss on your forehead while turning you again around pulling down your dress carefully. You stood up after the dress layed on the floor, still facing him with your back.He came closer, opening the silk ribbon from your corset, his hands grabbing around your waist to your front, opening up the little clamps.The corset fell down followed by Lutece getting down on one knee letting his hands travel around your lower back and waist.He squeezed your waist slightly before letting his hands again travel on your soft skin.He then placed kisses on the back of your thighs. Everything he did to you was always filled with pure love and passion for one another. You suddenly felt his touch on your body missing, you turned around seeing him disappear in the next room, you followed him with fast steps. There stood the red haired man taking a close look at your warderobe, his finger resting on his chin while the other hand leaned on his hip. "Do i have to wear a dress?"you asked leaning against the wall taking a look at your nails. He looked at your barely covered body, "Your body is like a pasture for my eyes hungry for a gaze on you but dear god or whoever may be even further up there than us forbid me taking you on the street like that. Another man might take a look at this body and might even try to take you away from me, no i can't take this risk.I want to say this body is mine, meaning you're mine but it would be a foolish thing to just assume my property.So, may i ask if you are mine ?"He closed the warderobe door while taking a few steps in your direction, placing his hands behind his back. You could not prevent yourself from giggling, he totally misunderstood you. "My dear pearl, I am yours ! But i actually wanted to stay here with you instead of going out." You took a few steps towards him holding one of his hands. "What an relieving answer and I'd also like to stay here but what a shame it would be not to go out in the sun." He said while taking off his jacket, folding it and laying it onto the bed. "Don't worry my love I've got an idea." You said smiling at him. You walked from the bedroom back into the living room taking your cigarettes and a pack of matches with you , going to the rose covered balcony, still barely clothed. You fell in love with this apartment as soon as you saw the roses growing up and around every inch of the parapet.The streets where quite empty for a day like this one.The people must have been in the middle of the city drinking coffee and eating ice cream enjoying the weather. You lit up a cigarette playing with one of the roses.Roberts hand suddenly layed on your back. You turned around, his face nodded down to the cigarette, his arm now laying around your waist. You held the cigarette in front of his mouth watching him taking a deep breath looking at the roses.You followed his gaze your hand making its way with the cigarette to your mouth. Robert looked into the distance back to you.He took the cigarette and layed it on top of the parapet resting his hand under your chin pulling it up. "My dear." he said before placing a kiss your lips. The smell of the roses crawled in your nose, your hand running through Roberts sun warmed hair, slightly grinding against his body.The kiss got so passionate Roberts hand wandering under your bra starting to message your boob remained unnoticed until a whistle broke your affection reciprocity.Your eyes travelled down to the street seeing a young boy giggling while running a way with a little girl wearing a baby pink dress.The little Gentleman seemed to have taken a rose with him for the little girl.You smiled. As soon as the children were gone behind the other houses you began to feel Roberts hand again on your boob. "Well Mr.Lutece?"you smiled up to him raising an eyebrow. "Mrs.Lutece?" He smiled back at you trying to get his hand out of your bra placing it on your lower back slightly stroking over your butt while resting his forehead against yours.You stayed like that for a few minutes, prancing around to the sound of the singing birds, before you began to tie your hands around him while burying your face into his chest. He hugged you back kissing your hair over and over until his voice whispered in your ear:"The prettiest rose here is you, growing in my heart instead of a balcony." A last kiss was placed on your head before you began to talk: "I want to celebrate us, we should go out for dinner."You laughed running into the living room followed by Robert. "Oh now after you presented yourself to some younglings its time for dinner? We will go if I'm allowed to choose the dress!" He ran to the warderobe waiting for you before he layed his arm around you, already knowing which dress you should wear. I hope you liked it, I've so far seen pretty much nothing for Robert Lutece so i decided to write a little something.
Thank you for answering my question, Ash! The year’s been kind to me too so far. And thank you; I’m so happy you are cool with writing for Robert Lutece! I’m afraid I don’t have any specific plot in mind for Robert x female reader… but are you cool with using these symbols from your symbolism list: purple, light purple, circle, square/rectangle, ambrosia? If not, then I’ll try my best to come up with a specific prompt. :-)
I’m very happy to hear that, love! I hope that 2017 will be a good year for everyone. And yes I can definitely do that symbolism prompt for Robert Lutuce! I already have an idea for the story and it might end up being a little bittersweet but hopefully still adorable! Thank you, my dear!
Today, the weather seemed a bit moody and you immediately thought if something had been troubling Neuvillette. You got home and placed the basket of groceries on the nearest table. You took your umbrella and rushed to Palais Mermonia. You passed by café Lutece and dropped by quickly to get some snacks.
But as you went down the stairs near the shop, you accidentally slipped and hurt your ankle. Monsieur Arouet, the shop’s owner happened to be near the area and quickly rushed to help you. “Madame! Are you alright?” he asked. You winced in pain when you tried to get up with the help of Arouet. He excused himself before helping you. You placed your hand on his arm and got up.
Officer Menthe passed by the café and saw you getting help from Arouet. “Madame!” She called out running towards you. “What happened? Are you alright? I’ll call Monsieur Neuvi-” Before she could finish her sentence, you put a hand on her head and shook your head with a reassuring smile. “There’s no need Menthe. I don’t want to cause you trouble. Look, it’s almost raining.”
Menthe’s eyes softened and she lowered her head a little. Arouet came back with the med kit. “Ah! Officer Menthe! Good timing! Could you help Madame please?” Menthe nodded and took the med kit from his hand. Menthe pressed her cute hand gently on your ankle and asked where it hurts then she applied some pain relief cream.
You sheltered at café Lutece as it started pouring. The moment your eyes left Menthe, she quickly slipped to Palais Mermonia to inform Neuvillette.
When Menthe arrived, Neuvillette’s office was filled with the Marechaussee Phantom members. Menthe notices the little frown on Neuvillette’s face. He looked unsettled. When he was about to depart and dispatch the investigation team, he saw Menthe approaching his desk.
He bent down and Menthe whispered in his ear. “Madame is hurt. She is resting at café Lutece.” Neuvillette’s ears twitched and face was mixed with all sorts of emotions. Anger, guilt and sadness. His eyebrows knitted together for a split second then changed to his normal expression after realizing there’s the members of the Marechaussee Phantom in his office.
Neuvillette cleared his throat and announced, “My apologies, it seems that something urgent came up. I cannot lead the investigation today. Sedene will lead the investigation in my stead.” The melusines stayed silent and no one dared to ask questions. Instead they all said “Have a safe trip Monsieur.”
He gave them a small smile and nodded. He rushed to the door with Menthe following shortly. On the way there, Menthe told him everything that happened and before she could notice, they were in front of her residence. “Thank you Menthe. You may rest now.” She nodded, “Thank you Monsieur. I hope Madame gets well soon.” He thanked her and left to be by your side.
While you were sitting waiting for your husband, it rained harder and it made you more worried about his feelings and well-being.
The rain made it better for Neuvillette to use his teleportation without having anyone see. A blue-like aura surrounded his body and his horns glowed and in a blink of an eye, he was in front of Café Lutece. Even though he teleported, he’s slightly soaked from the heavy rain.
His gloves were long gone, and his slender fingers made contact with your cold cheek. “I’m here my love.” he says as he knelt down in front of you. You placed your hand on top of his and leaned in his touch. It was warm. The warmth radiating from his hand warms your entire body. “Mmh, you’re here.”
Neuvillette placed his coat over your trembling body. He thanked Arouet and picked you up in bridal style and woosh you’re inside your house. Your husband took his coat off of you and replaced it with a towel. You sat on a stool in the bathroom and watched him prepare a warm bath for you. His poet shirt sleeves rolled up and hair attached in a ponytail as your husband helped clean you up.
He was tense the whole time he cleaned you. His eyebrows slightly knitted together, deep in thought you suppose. When you were finished, your husband was about to help you dress up but you ushered him to clean himself, “Love, I’m alright. You go take a bath or else you’ll get sick.”
You sat in bed waiting for your beloved husband. When he got out, he rushed to your side. His expressions from earlier seemed to dissipate after a refreshing bath. Neuvillette knelt down and inspected your ankle. “Where does it hurt my love?” he asks with a calm voice. You showed him where it hurts and he seemed to be saying something and kissed your ankle.
“You’ll recover soon, love.”
Hello!! I have an idea for a fic with the Luteces (if you still write for them). It's more of a Luteces x platonic!reader really, in which her (or gender neutral pronouns if you prefer) is their only bff and they all have these sweet family moments, doing something normal like baking together or letting them vent or infodump. They really need a friend that's not themselves in my opinion (also please and thank you!)
Genre: Fluff
The Luteces were extremely brilliant scientists who had developed amazing machines that had changed the world and yet, they found themselves in their kitchen with their one and only friend, (y/n), baking as they said it was good for stress.
Rosalind and Robert weren’t stressed, but they cherished any time they could get to spend with (y/n).
“How much flour do we put in here?” Robert asked, completely puzzled at baking entirely. But if it made (y/n) happy, then he was more than happy to participate in this little family get-together.
(y/n) giggled lightly, popping up at Robert’s side to bring out a measuring cup before speaking, “1 ½ cups of flour. It says it in the recipe.”
Robert glanced at the recipe before he gave an embarrassed look to Rosalind and (y/n). The two laughed at him for a moment before the twins watched (y/n) finish mixing all the ingredients together before they popped it into the oven.
“How long will we have to wait to decorate? I think Robert and I would be quite good at that part,” Rosalind said, very sure of her and Robert’s capabilities.
(y/n) giggled at the twins questions, happy to finally spend time with them, as it had been quite a while for the found-family trio. “It should only take 30 minutes.”
The three cleaned the kitchen as they decided on what to do next whilst they waited for the cake.
Rosalind and Robert looked at the grandfather clock across the hall as it chimed a few times, signaling the next hour to come to pass. “It seems we should do some work. That is impeccable timing. (y/n), do you mind? You’re welcomed to come and keep us company while we wait for the cake.” Rosalind said.
The twins internally groaned at the thought of having to do any work today as they had wanted to spend all day with (y/n) but they must do this, and luckily, their work shouldn’t take more than half an hour.
“Sure, I still need to finish that quantum physics book you wrote,” (y/n) replied as they followed the Luteces into a different room where their notes were scrawled upon pages and chalkboards. (y/n) couldn’t make heads or tails of it, but they appreciated being included when they did their research. It was nice. (y/n) made a confused face as they thought back on why the Luteces always wanted them to be nearby. “Um, why do you two want me near all the time? I’ve never seen you interact with anybody else like this.”
Rosalind and Robert glanced at each other, knowing the answer already, as they had discussed this matter many times beforehand. “You’re our family, (y/n). Simple as that. We’d do anything for you. We don’t have much, but we know we like to be near you, and you make us feel safe. What more could a family ask for?”
[Bioshock] Rosalind Lutece x reader
Request: Rosalind Lutece x reader where one of them makes the first move
Genre: Fluff
Linktree
~~~
Rosalind’s nails clicked against the chalkboard, staring at the equation she just can't seem to solve. She's been staring at it for hours, but nothing's clicking.
Rosalind turned to the table next to the chalkboard to pick up her coffee once again, she was almost done with the drink. She'd need to ask her assistant, (y/n), to grab more of this flavor.
But her little assistant was nowhere in sight.
"Robert, where's (y/n)? I haven't seen them all day," Rosalind asked.
Her brother could only sigh exasperatedly, this was the 3rd time in an hour that Rosalind had asked the question.
Robert had never seen her like this before. Though he supposed he had never seen her in love either. It was just a matter of time before she figured out herself. But she better make quick work of it, before (y/n) came back.
“(y/n)’s in town picking up supplies. They should be back in an hour or two,” Robert explained for the 3rd time.
Rosalind’s form slouched from the mere thought of not even having her assistant around at the moment. She spent almost every waking moment with them, so it was jarring to not even see them in the same vicinity as them.
Rosalind moved away from the giant chalkboard and laid back on the couch in the room, absolutely not wanting to continue in her work without (y/n) here. They were her inspiration to keep working through the long hours in the morning to the short hours in the evening.
“Rosalind, you need to work. You can’t just lay there until (y/n) gets back,” Robert almost pleaded with his sister.
She almost didn’t hear her brother over the dead silence of their missing person. It was so different without (y/n) here, and it had only been half an hour.
(y/n) made Rosalind absolutely calm, always kept her happy, down to making her laugh when she needed it most and holding her when she felt like she’d have a breakdown.
Most assistants didn’t usually make their bosses feel this way, but the relationship between (Y/n) and Rosalind was a special one indeed.
Robert stared at Rosalind from his place at the chalkboard, continuing with the side projects he had if she was going to be moping on the couch. He wanted her to get up and work but for the first time, She had no motivation to work. He was just waiting for Rosalind to finally figure out her reason as to why. Robert, of course, could see it clear as day.
Rosalind was swimming in her thoughts, staring up at the ceiling as she did so.
Why didn’t she want to work without (y/n) by her side? Why was it bothering her so much?
With her heart threatening to beat out of her chest, Rosalind sat up straight. Her eyes were fixated on the front door where (y/n) would stroll through any minute now. But all Rosalind could think about was the thought that finally crossed her mind.
‘I’m in love with them,’ She thought to herself.
She could hear her heart pounding in her ears as she turned to Robert who was watching her with a knowing look, just waiting for her to finally say it out loud, then it would finally be said.
“I fell in love with my best friend,” Rosalind confessed, Robert released a breath he was holding, a wave of relief washed over him.
“Finally,” Robert said. Rosalind’s gaze shot to him, realizing all the looks he shot to herself and (y/n) over the few years. He knew the entire time before she did. He continued, “It took you long enough. You should tell them.”
Rosalind opened her mouth to counter the argument, to tell Robert that now wasn’t the right time or that perhaps (y/n) didn’t even like her romantically. But it was at that moment when (y/n) finally opened the door to the twins’ home.
As (y/n) settled back into the house, bags of supplies hanging off of their arms. (y/n) looked exhausted, the number of errands they completed was well into the double digits as opposed to the planned 3.
Robert glanced at Rosalind and her vice grip on her hands as a cue to leave, so she could finally confess her love to their assistant, so he could be free of the suffocating tension.
“Sorry that took so long, but I just kept remembering more and more things that we needed and--,” (y/n) started to explain their absence.
Rosalind couldn’t stand the way her heart immediately started hammering against her chest at the sound of her lovely assistant’s rambling about their day. She needed to solve the problem, and she had just the solution laid out in front of her. So, without further questioning or waiting, Rosalind marched forward and grabbed the back of (y/n)’s neck to pull them into a kiss.
(y/n)’s words were caught in their throat as they held back a gasp of surprise that Rosalind was so forward with them in a romantic sense.
(y/n) didn’t quite know what would entail for them once they returned to the Luteces home, but it certainly wasn’t a passionate kiss from Rosalind.
With shaking hands, (y/n) gently caressed her waist to tug her closer. They hadn’t the faintest idea where Robert may have disappeared to, but as long as he wasn’t watching their interaction.
Rosalind finally turned her head away to breathe as the aching in her chest grows tighter and tighter. She could only imagine that (y/n) felt similar: With the need to breathe along with her feelings.
“So, I suppose it isn’t a reach to say that you feel the same for me?” Rosalind asked, one of her hands playing with (y/n)’s clothes as she awaited an answer.
“Of course, Ms. Lutece,” (y/n)’s words were clear, their tone soft. “I just wasn’t aware you felt the same. I’m glad.” Their eyes crinkled with the wide smile.
Rosalind felt as if a huge weight was lifted from her chest. She smiled as well and led (y/n) to the couch to continue talking about their newfound romantic relationship.

Robert Lutece x reader (Delivery for Lutece)

~~~~~~~~~~~
I smiled lightly as my eyes glanced over the next order: Lutece, Rosalind. It seemed she wanted another order of books; quantum physics, Philosophy, Psychology and… a romance novel. I smiled knowingly at the last part of the order, knowing Rosalind didn’t like many people knowing that she liked cheesy romance novels. Not even Robert knew. I quickly collected the books she ordered before letting them fall into my bag before I exited the small bookstore and walked toward the Lutece household. The walk was nice and breezy as always, Columbia was as peaceful as it could get.
I stepped up onto the steps, ringing the doorbell and waiting for an answer. I straightened out my dress as the door opened to reveal Robert.
“Good morning Mx. (y/n),” Robert greeted.
I smiled sheepishly and tucked a loose strand behind my ear.
“Hello, Robert. Is Rosalind home?” I asked.
Robert opened his mouth to say something, but Rosalind shoved him out of the way.
“Please come in, (y/n),” Rosalind said rather hastily.
I glanced at her disheveled hair before entering their home; placing the books on the coffee table in the main room.
“Would you care for a cup of coffee?” Rosalind held up a cup of coffee for me to take.
Robert popped up behind me, holding up a similar-looking cup.
“Or perhaps tea?” Robert cut in.
Rosalind gave her brother a side glance, almost menacing.
“Coffee.”
“Tea.”
“Coffee…”
I could hear Rosalind start to get angry, whilst Robert remained calm, I always did like that about him. I gently grabbed the tea from Robert’s hands; I felt a spark as our hands touched for a split moment. Rosalind grinned toward me before gesturing towards the long couch. I sighed slightly but sat in the corner, dropping my bag on the floor next to my feet. Rosalind picked up the books and held them to her chest.
“Brother, why don’t you keep (y/n) company while I put these away?” Rosalind asked.
Robert gave her a small nod before he sat next to me. Rosalind, satisfied with her little setup, left the room to shelve the new books; no doubt to take a peek at that romance novel of hers.
“I should really go, I’m sure I have other deliveries to do,” I said, ready to leave any second.
Robert leaned against the couch, placing his hands on his lap in a polite manner.
“We should indulge Rosalind a little. You know how she can get a little antsy. Just a few minutes, that’s all I ask,” Robert said, but I knew that he wanted to be around me as much as I desired to be around him.
I smiled, he had always been so nice to me. I could never figure his reason behind it.
“Okay,” I said as I took a few small sips of my tea before Robert asked what  I knew had been on his mind since Rosalind rushed to the door.
“What books did you bring for my dear sister? She doesn’t usually dash to the door that quickly,” He asked curiously.
I shifted nervously on the couch, I promised Rosalind a long time ago that I wouldn’t tell anyone about her guilty pleasure, least of all her brother.
“Well, I promised her I wouldn’t tell,” I muttered.
I felt the teacup disappear from my grasp, causing me to look toward Robert. I watched as he diligently placed the cup on the table in front of us before he slowly hovered over me, carefully placing his hands on either side of me to trap me against the couch. My heart rose up to my throat as I became acutely aware of my breathing and how close he was to my face, my lips.
“So you do know. Please do tell me, the curiosity is eating at me,” Robert whispered to me. I could clearly see him staring at my lips before his gaze shot back up to my face.
“Don’t tease me unless you plan on doing something. It’s rude to play with someone’s feelings,” I said to him.
Robert smiled one of those smiles, the kind that was only meant for one person, me. Robert slowly leaned forward, placing his lips gingerly onto mine, pushing himself forward. My eyes fluttered lightly once Robert slowly pulled away.
“I would never play with your feelings,” Robert gently said.
I slowly sat up with his help, his fingers stayed intertwined with my own.
“Romance, she likes to read romance novels, but please don’t tell her I told you,” I finally confessed.
Robert’s smile became slightly bigger, a small chuckle danced at his lips.
“That would explain her hiding in her room at nightly hours as of late. Thank you,” Robert said. He stayed quiet for a few moments, passing the time by playing with my fingers; being positive that he had touched every inch of my hand. “I have something to give you, as thanks.” Robert quickly stood to his feet, helping me stand as well. “You’re always been so patient and kind to my sister and I… We’ve never really had a companion like you before… Someone I--We… We cared about before.” Robert released my hand for a moment before retrieving a necklace from a small box I hadn’t noticed before. “Would you mind turning around for me a moment?” I gave Robert an unsure look. I liked Robert and all, but…
“Robert, I-”
He gave me that charming smile that made me weak at the knees. Did he know what effect he had on me?
“Do you trust me?” Robert asked out of the blue. I opened my mouth to respond but found myself turning my back to him instead, lifting my hair away from my the back of my neck to give him better access to clasp the necklace over me. “Alright, done.” I slowly released the grip of my hair before picking up the pocket watch. It was beautiful…
“Robert… Thank you. You didn’t have to do this.” I felt my heart fluttering as Robert gripped the back of his neck nervously, a light rosy shade of pink drifting onto his face.
“I’m aware. I wanted to. I care about you, more than I thought I initially would,” Robert confessed. His eyes widened slightly as Rosalind entered the room.
“Having a bit of fun? Are we, Brother?” Rosalind teased.
Both of his hands came to lay stiffly at his side. What was Rosalind doing? Her twin brother’s face only became redder with her statement. I didn’t know what to do, should I say something?
“I Don’t, I um…” Rosalind quirked an eyebrow, fully amused.
“My, brother, I’ve never heard you stumble or stutter on your words. Then again, I’ve never caught you alone with (y/n),” Rosalind teased once more. Robert took a deep breath, the color quickly faded from his face, a neutral face plastered onto his face once more. “I’m only teasing, Robert.” I watched with curious eyes as Robert leaned down to my ear, brushing away the hair to whisper a request.
“Would it be pleasant for you to have a night in, without my dear sister in the way?” Robert asked into my ear.
I laughed silently at Robert’s emphasis on ‘Dear’. I gave him a small nod.
“My place?”
Robert gave me a firm nod as an answer before he stood to his full height, placing his arms behind his back as he always did. I grabbed my bag from the floor and slung it over my shoulder before I headed toward the front entrance, Robert close behind me. He glanced back at his sister, who had taken the liberty of reading one of her new books, she wasn’t looking in our direction. Robert quickly turned back to me, placing a quick, but passionate kiss to my lips before he opened the door for me.
“I-I'll see you later, Mr. Lutece.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rosalind Lutece, just one of the Luteces, was held up in her household finishing some touches before she took a power nap. She had been working on some final calculations for her latest experiment since late last night. She wasn’t even aware of how late it was.
It was 7 in the morning.
The exact time when her lovely lover would stop by as usual. Unfortunately, thanks to the closed-minded people of Columbia, there was no way that the two would ever be married as much as they both wished to be.
Rosalind softly shook her head, ridding her mind of the sad thought that she wouldn’t be able to marry (y/n) because of Comstock and many other variables. She put her hands together in concentration, just a few more scrapes of the chalk, and she would take a quick nap before (y/n) arrived. God knew what she’d do if she saw Rosalind in this state.
Light rhythmic knocking broke the physicist’s train of thought. It seemed as if she was too late. Rosalind brushed her hair back to normal, trying to make herself look like she was sleeping all night instead of working before she answered the door to greet (y/n).
“Good morning, Darling,” Rosalind greeted her lover.
(y/n) let herself in, staring at the mess of books and papers sprawled all around the common area. She set her bag down before lounging on the couch, staring at her lover.
"You were up all night again weren't you?" (y/n) stated more than asked.
Rosalind knew that she couldn’t hide anything from her other half.
“I can never hide anything from you, Dear. Come, let’s cuddle on the couch. I know how much you love it,” Rosalind confessed her terrible habits.
(y/n) smiled softly and bites on her bottom lip tenderly before grabbing Rosalind’s outstretched hand and letting herself get dragged towards the couch.
(Y/n) lounged comfortably on the couch first, watching as Rosalind took her time in falling onto the couch, laying her head gently on her lover's lap. (y/n) started by simply running her fingers through the loose parts of hair that had fallen from Rosalind’s bun. The house was far too quiet for nobody else in the house to be present, which meant that Robert definitely wasn’t home or else Rosalind wouldn't have spent all night working on any new machines or lasting results.
“Where is Robert? He would’ve called me if you pulled another all-nighter. It’s the third one this week,” (y/n) mentioned.
Rosalind let out a small sigh, draping one of her arms over her forehead, she hadn’t seen her dear brother since last night, but he was allowed to be around other people other than herself and (y/n).
“He went to return a few books, maybe he made a stop. But he’s an adult, he can take care of himself,” Rosalind replied. Without anything else to say about her brother, Rosalind snuggled her face into (y/n)’s lap, coloring her own face, and no doubt (y/n)’s, a good shade of red. “As I expected, you’re much comfier than my pillow.” The scientist relaxed into the touch of her lover, deciding that she should be the one to listen for once. (y/n) hadn’t said an awful lot today. “You’re quiet this morning, sweetheart. Something on your mind?” (Y/n) let out a thoughtful sigh, drawing back from her delightful daydream to tell Rosalind all of her dreams and aspirations for the two of them.
“I was just thinking about the day where we can finally hold hands in public with no fear. I want to show everyone I know how much I adore you,” (y/n) confessed, pouring her heart out to her girlfriend.
Rosalind could only emit a small sigh, she had looked through hundreds of different tears to different places and different times and there was very few where the law was actually accepting of same-sex marriages.
It was still an option, no doubt.
She took a deep breath before grabbing one of (y/n)’s hands, wanting to stay in touch for as long as possible before going back to work.
