Songs the Ninjago Fandom is Sleeping on.
Okay so while I do art there's only so much my chronic pain ridden hands can produce and so animatics/animations aren't really in my wheelhouse BUT I have a bunch of ideas and songs that the Ninjago fandom should use + some ideas that yall can totally use (@ me or send them to me though if you do cause I want to see them)
The Songs in question (it's be song-artist btw):
Always Gold-Radical Face: Is literally a perfect song for Wu and Garmadon, like it's literally about two opposite brothers treading wildly different paths like what more could you want
Brutus- The Buttress: Yall please I am begging that someone does something with this song relating to Morro's hatred/jealousy towards Lloyd because this song is absolutely perfect for it! Lines such as "-and if you want I'll call you king but why do I lie awake each night thinking "instead of you it should be me"" and "Please know my actions are not motivated only by envy, I to have a destiny" there are so many more but I'll let yall do the rest of the work (Also you could kinda do it with Wu and Garmadon but ehhhh)
Human Enough- ONR: This could work for multiple of the characters if you ask me but if you ship anyone with Zane or Pixal the song could totally work those two them specifically cause it talks about the singers partner/love interest being "made perfect" and idk we need more Pixal content soooo. Honestly any of the characters that get de-human-ed (for longer than one episode) would do great with this song, like Cole in his ghost arc, Nya after Seabound or Garmadon at like any point in the story. Line examples: "Cause you are made of perfect stars and I was built from broken parts" and "I'm not human enough to love yo right now/ I'm not human enough to cry or cry for" are my personal favorites.
Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!)-Will Wood: Lloyd, Sora or Wu (Specifically the young version of him from the Spinjitzu Brothers books) song about the weight of the world being on your shoulders and not knowing what to do and like the consequences of actions and fun stuff like that
Easier- Crane Wives: Misako, like seriously so many Crane Wives songs work well for this woman because A) her whole attempt to change destiny or B) Her failure as a mother and you know the whole kinda cheating on her husband thing, but this one specifically cause it's a song about leaving someone behind and feeling bad while also not being able to stay. Lyrics such as "If you woke and I was gone from the house that we made our home would it bend yo, break you, overtake your heart?" and "I won't move but I can't stay here. So what the hell am I supposed to do?" and "If I were someone else, would this be easier?"
Stranglers Fig- This could definitely be a Cole (specifically relating to his father and dance backstory) or Kai song, many of the lyrics involve someone being pushed to do more and more and finally snapping because they've done everything they can and there's nothing left but their desire to be better. Lyrics "You bult your kingdom around me, now I'm trapped within your walls and all I want is to be free" and "Climb me to the canopy, higher, higher 'till there's nothing left of me." and "You're the culprit so don't blame me."
And that's all for tonight cause I'm tired BUT I will be posting a couple more of these cause I have a bunch of these floating in my brain and I'd love it if some of these idea's inspire people. I really wish I could do it myself but chronic pain is a bitch so instead I'll throw it out for yall to try out! Anyways I hope you have a great day/night! Peace out!

Doing a song of the day bc my grandma does it: today’s song is
Strangler fig by the crane wives!
This song uses ficus as a metaphor for the main characters’ relationship. The strangler fig is a plant that grows around a host tree, at first supporting it and protecting it from storms, but eventually draining the hosts access to sunlight and nutrients, causing it to rot away and leaving the fig as an hollow shell resembling what it initially grew around. The “vines” you see in these images are actually the plants’ roots, as it germinates at the top of a tree, sending its roots down and inside of the tree, absorbing nutrients from its trunk rather than the soil.
You’ll probably see me choose songs from this album and band a lot, im very fond of their lyricism and this albums storyline.

A sketch of Marwa I threw together after today’s episode sent me fuming.
Based on The Fool in Her Wedding Gown by the Crane Wives
Lyric Caption from Strangler Fig from the album
[IMAGE ID: A pencil sketch of Marwa from What We Do In The Shadows in her wedding gown, holding a bouquet in the pose from the album cover of The Fool in Her Wedding Gown. She has a concerned expression on her face. Around her are the lyrics “Desire, desire until there’s nothing left of me.” The sketch is captioned “Marwa - The Fool in Her Wedding Gown” at the top of the page.]
This is my first time writing an image id so I hope this is alright.

So since ya all seem interested in my crane wives Playlists post
I figured I’d show you some of my notes because I over thought some of my choices a lot basically this post is some fun character analysis using lyrics as a guide because I am insane
Marcy
Curses
when the war starts in my heart”
Tell I am good enough
This song is Marcy
This is totally Marcy
Okay this is about Marcys abandonment issues obviously so I’m thinking pre tc got the first part or maybe post tc remnenising as the night takes over
(Could explain darling ashes dust to dust the devils after both of us)
No wait because andrais and the night are the devil who’s after both Anne and Marcys respectively
Lay my curses all to rest could possibly be a reference to her shortcomings leading to her downfall? (abandonment issues + navity + lack of love = shit ton of problems)
Strangler fig
You built your kingdom around me now I’m trapped in your walls and all I want is to be free
All your doing now is using me
So this is from Marcy to andrais i thought the castle imagery fit Marcy and andrais really well and the line “I gave you everything but now I want it back” fits scarily to seeing as Marcys arc is tied to the word everything and she gave Andrais so much and got cheated and stabbed in return.
Ribs
Listen, I just really like the implications of the line” the night doesn’t frigten me I chose to close my eyes” and “the night doesn’t frighten me I chose to let it thrive” In the context of Marcys arc okay
Allies or enemies
Honestly I almost didn’t put this one in but “now listen close- this will be the death of me” struck me as very marcy .
“You caught me in a moment of weakness” could be referring to her spilling out her heart to andrais
It works quite well with “forget it all “right before too. I like the idea of Marcy asking andrais to just forget everything she’s said if only because it adds to later betrayal
are we allies or enemies /this will be the death of me is the betrayal of andrais or even Marcys betrayal to Anne and her fear she is no longer loved. Or hell was never really loved.
Either way this will be the death of me serves as either ominous foreshadowing to the you know what or just the you know what happening
Sasha
Take me to war
listen to this song listen to it this is literally Sasha
“And I’ll rangle the beast with words”
“Dress me in red and throw your Roses// And I’ll rangle the beast with words”
It is literally Sasha like come on
It’s hard to explain exactly why this song works so well with Sasha without just repeating myself a lot. It fits with her manipulative tendency’s and her growth her role as the strength gem and how she grew to fill it and didn’t fill it at the beginning like marcanne (I could make a whole other post about this honestly but idk it ya all would wanna hear my ramblings about it) but yeah also I just the vibes are sahsa it almost Sounds like a war March at first and it slowly gets more and more complex a lot like Sasha and a lot of peoples perceptions of her
“all the words I’ve swallowed all of the sharp things I’ve kept in my mouth// honey I am always bleeding out //
id imagine it’s referring to her pretending to change in thrid temple to true colors (notice the first time this line is used it also has the singer using violence give me something to break with my fists in the next line)
all of the ire I’ve swallowed all of the coals that still sit on my gut
I am always burning up//
I like to think of this line in reference Turning point and more speffically Anne’s return to wartwood in comander Anne and Sasha still making an effort to change and it being hard on her sometimes
Take me to war honey I dare you!
Hehe sahsa is at war to save her gfs
-
Metaphor
Another Sasha song
Do…do I even need to explain this one?
Like this is Sasha “lies manipulation and backstabbing are her whole thing in s1-s2
“you can't trust a single thing I say” Okay so this to me changes from a prideful boast to a pained realization throughout the song and like seeing as andrais”s manipulation is part of what pushed her to change it’s really fun to imagine that’s about when it happens
I cant trust a single thing you say
Is either from her to andrais or Anne to her either way it works really welll
OR MAYBE TO MArcy??? Oooh that’s fun actually and then maybe directly regretting it with the next couple of lines where Marcy gets stabbed and maybe a singer switch here to Marcy idk
Allies or enemies
I think the beginning fits sasha (post reunion maybe post turning point) really well seeing as her main thing is relying to much on manipulation and shit like (I swear I didn’t mean what I said I swear i didn’t mean it) is absolutely my favorite line in the context of Sashas arc
Remember when I could tell you not to smile /when you where mad and you would crack /and we’d both be laughing in the end /now your not so quick to forget
So this is current Sasha looking back To pre amphibia times and then the and reunion (possibly true colors maybe like seeing the consequences of her actions like Anne hating her and Marcy d wording from her pov).
All is fair in love and war /but I can’t fight with you anymore .
Still looking back but specifically when Anne catches Sasha and right before Sasha falls definitely what Anne says or maybe even what is going through Sasha's head at the moment
Anne
Not this ghost
This song is super fun In the context of Annes character and especially her earth arc
My dear there are secrets here //there are secrets here
And I will carry them home
Carry them home
I thought this line was really interesting because Anne directly after being lied to by Marcy for good intentions lies to her parents to protect them and don’t get me wrong I get why but the idea of Anne carrying on the lies for good intentioned reasons the realization she’s doing the thing Marcy did is… just really interesting
This is about her trust issues and carrying the weight of everything that went down in true colors
“If only I could break the chain of disappointment waying me down” I think this fits Anne being stabbed in the back (metaphorically and honestly it’s terrifying I have to specify) over and over by people she trusts
//It’s the fear not the ghost that leaves me haunted// haunted
Anne had the least danger to deal with after true colors Imo which is saying something because she was being chased by killer robots and the government but she also did have a lot of time to think about what happens and Process it probably more then Sasha did it’s not the physical danger that leaves her afraid it’s the memories
Allies or enemies
What happens now/do we have another go?or do we bow out and take our separate roads/
So I think this is Anne before the third temple she’s looking back on all that’s happened and wondering if things CAN be fixed between them and if they even should be. Obviously she wants Sasha back in her life in some capacity but not the same Sasha who was such a toxic infulance.
I’ll admit I had my doubts I want to be their In not out x2
This is Sasha and Anne’s reunion in third temple and Anne growing to trust her again before the betrayal in tc this is basically like Anne’s POV of some of the Sasha stuff so far and her thoughts on it.
Are we allies or enemies
This is mostly about how Sasha and Anne went from besties to enemies to having each other’s back in tc
That’s the last one check keep reading for thoughts
Thats all I have unfortunately some of this has been in my docs drafts for months and some of it is newer I had a lot of fun with this i enjoy character analysis a lot but I do find it difficult to organize my thoughts alot of the time which is why it was so fun to use songs as a way to start thinking and building on. Plus I doubt I’d Thought of these without the prompts of the lyrics
I had a lot of trouble Anne and tbh I’m not exactly sure why but she was the Hardst
Marcy was the easiest though Sasha was the one I enjoyed the most

Hi! I heard you're into the Oh Hellos, and the Crane Wives. I very much love the Oh Hellos but am just getting into the Crane Wives. Any suggestions for songs of theirs that go particularly hard?
Oh my. Thank you SO MUCH for asking me, I’ll now proceed to throw a lot of The Crane Wives-related stuff at you, even though only some of it is what you asked for. This is. A lot of songs, but there are pretty much no songs by The Crane Wives I don’t like. I would also like to apologize for how long this took and how long it is.
If you wanted a short answer, I picked five songs out of this list. These are not the ones that I think go the hardest, necessarily (I could never choose and I’m sure there are songs I didn’t put on here that I will rue forgetting), but they’re all from different albums and as such provide a nice variety. They’re also, very intentionally, not the most popular songs off of those albums, simply because the other songs need love too.
Take Me To War, I Ain’t Done, Strangler Fig, Sleeping Giants, Down The River.
Under the cut, a long list of songs, with brief explanations of why they’re good. Thank you again for asking me this question; I had a lot of fun writing this.
Take Me To War. Overall, it has very powerful vibes. Emilee Petersmark growls a lot in it and I think it might be possible to die from her voice.
Volta. “I’m tired of feeling like a shadow in my life”. Enough said.
Hollow Moon. Creepy but extraordinarily powerful.
I Ain’t Done. Murder! Adultery! Banjo! What more could you want?
Safe Ship, Harbored, but especially this particular version, performed by both The Crane Wives and another awesome band, The Accidentals.
Counting Sheep. Metaphors, societal commentary, and the lyrics are pure poetry.
New Colors. It just has good vibes, okay.
October. Gay yearning! Oh, my love!
Strangler Fig. The whole song is very badass and there’s wordplay.
Steady, Steady. Killer instrumental, a very clear and engaging story, and raw power.
Shallow River. Angst! Lovely visuals! Also, this is kind-of-sort-of the title song for the album (contains the line ‘the fool in her wedding gown’).
Tongues & Teeth. “I am not a vessel for your good intent”. Damn.
Hard Sell. A song about how no one really has life figured out, and it also has awesome background instrumental, so what more could you want?Little Soldiers. Metaphors! Love and war! Right after “all of our words sent home in boxes”, they do this cool ‘ooh-ooh’ that I love with all my heart.
The Moon Will Sing. “I shine only with the light you give me”, “I could have been anyone, anyone”, and equally powerful lines.
Sleeping Giants. I don’t know what this song means but it’s a bop.
Metaphor. “I keep my closet free of skeletons, cause I’m much better at digging graves.” Need I say more?
The Hand That Feeds. Anticapitalist and filled with wild and powerful energy. The Crane Wives said ‘eat the rich’.
Turn Out The Lights. At the heart of it, it’s a song that tells you not to worry, but in less of a ‘chill out and be happy’ way and in more of an extraordinarily powerful, ‘nope this isn’t worth it’ way. I love it.
Curses. Probably the most well-known song of theirs, but hey, it’s awesome. The ending hits me very hard and I love it.
Pretty Little Things. You will cry. I cry every time.
Down the River. Drama and betrayal, set to a very catchy tune.
Know How. A song about how knowing what to do doesn’t mean you can actually do it. The tune is amazing and it gets stuck in my head for days.
The Garden. I cannot explain why I love it so much, but I do. The last section is especially good.
If you’re reading this, thank you for listening to my rant. I’ll be here all night.

The Fool in her Wedding Gown 1/2
part 3 of the Crane Wives lyrics lets go
Icarus:
Climb ye higher and higher and higher /'Til you're far away and breathing cleaner air
There's no room for all the hearts who will not stay
Our hands are pulling everything apart
Steady, Steady:
It's a long road walking into the sun /The heat can make you lose your head /Your sense of direction
I can take for better but for worse can't condone
This ring around my finger's like a chain around my throat /Are you so sure you tamed me?
Don't just watch me go, you fool /Run with me, keep up, keep up, keep up
(That though we're gray, we can stay young, and wild, and free /Young and wild and free  (i dont care too much abt this lyrics wise but i could listen to this line on repeat))
Easier:
The only peace I have ever known /Is the peace I made with you
I try to keep it in my head /The need to leave this empty bed /And be nobody instead /Because it's easier
Please tell me someday /I'll at least be able to sleep
And if I were not myself, would this be easier?
Shallow River:
Red sky morning, lovers warning (2345423616/10 love it)
Oh I know that promise you wear, well it ain't for me
Shallow river, shining within her /Flood it all, drown the crops, but just please don't swallow me & Glowing ember, growing within her /Burn it all, raze the field, but just please don't swallow me
Hold your heart, be still, be still
Lovely lady, no one's baby /Keep your chains off the ground and don't you think of me
Strangler Fig:
You built your kingdom /Around me /Now I'm trapped within your walls and all I want is to be free
Climb me /Climb me to the canopy
Desire /Desire till there's nothing left of me
From your pulpit what will you preach? /How to live a good long life that's full of suffering
I gave you /Everything I had and now I want it back /Oh, I /Gave you everything I had /Now I, now I want it back! (the now i want it back in the end is just beautiful)
The Glacier House:
I saw your breath you bastard /I need to know /I saw your eyes so sweet go cold
You built the glacier house in the fading summer You cursed the Earth you settled under
Seasons change as they do (leaves me breathless every time i hear it)
I am not one to live with regret
