the road seems too wild for mixing it with blues (Dragon Age) - literally it is a Solavellan happiest of happy endings. There are brown butter donuts.

Sometimes! I do try to write titillating smut but if it's in my longfics, it's got to be for character reasons and serve the plot. But I have more than one smut oneshot that's just there to get people hot lol.

Dreamy prose, evocative horror, and really motivated plots.

I'm verbose, I have a hard time connecting scenes / passing time without it feeling like it's dragging.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

So, for fantasy languages that you have to conlang -- I think you should just write it in English. Especially if you're not making up YOUR OWN conlang and instead relying on the work of a notorious jackass. I have taken to "[[brackets and italics]]" to indicate when dialogue is happening in Elvhen. In real life languages, such as Spanish, the current movement in ownvoices communities is to include the dialogue in its original tongue, with no italics. Readers are smart. They can look it up. And they need to get used to languages other than their own without it seeming other, alien, or magical. In my original novels, where Spanish is often used, I stick with this rule.

So for my SDMI au…before I begin I’d love some suggestions on what to call it!!! If you don’t know what I’m talking about this is the post where I explained it up to date so far. @fallenflowersfromgrace helped me flesh it out so shoutout to them!!!! Ur epic 😎😎

Anyways, au. I may have already said some of this stuff so sorry :]

So this may be split into a few posts! This post will focus on the current mystery gang and their new personalities.

The og Mystery Gang (im calling them og gang) are the protagonists of this au. The current gang, the one we all know and love, are somewhat antagonistic, at least later into the au.

Pericles betrayed (not?)mayor jones and got him sent to a maximum security prison, instead of the other way around. This in turn lets Brad and Judy stay in Crystal Cove, so they end up raising Fred and stop looking for the planispheric disc.

Brad and Judy go by Ben Sternum and Julie Sternum, though when nobody else is around they call each other their actual names.

Shaggy is much less of a slacker and more of an overworked student. Pericles made sure of that. Though he focuses less on the academic side of things and more on just getting work done. He is definitely very anxious because of high standards set by Pericles and his parents. He’s more irritable because of stress and can come off as a mean person sometimes. (Even though he’s pretty a pretty good dude) He eats a lot, like his canon version, but this time it’s out of stress. His parents are nicer to him but they are more strict and similar to how Jones treated Fred in way.

Velma is more introverted and doesn’t talk as much. She’s pretty bitter towards Pericles since he overshadows her a lot in their treasure hunt searches. She is somewhat competitive with her peers in school or stuff that would be considered “academic.” She still hangs out with the gang but to outsiders she can go unnoticed. Of course the gang always does her best to include her their treasure hunts. She hangs out with Marcie a lot in this au when she isn’t with the gang, and they DO have a lil something goin’ on <3.

Daphne is more rebellious towards her parents and is somewhat of a delinquent. She is more carefree but she doesn’t put up with people she doesn’t like. Velma introduced her to the Hex-girls when they were younger, and they were a big influence for her. Her parents obviously disapprove of rebellious behavior but she mostly refuses to listen to them in this au. She dates multiple guys throughout this au but she has a crush on Fred, though she doesn’t think he reciprocates the interest.

Fred has a similar personality to his canon version but it’s still different. He is slightly corrupted by curse like the rest of gang so he isn’t as kind as usual in this au, of course he isn’t deliberately rude to people. He’s more confident since Brad and Judy weren’t as neglectful as Jones. But they both have busy jobs as doctors so they can be sorta absent sometimes, and Fred is home alone a lot. He gets into trouble a lot ands often ends up in dangerous situations like breaking into abandoned buildings or hanging out in shady places. He has a crush on Daphne but doesn’t think he’ll end up with her considering how many cool guys she’s dated. He still likes nets and stuff, but instead of traps he’s more interested in stuff like archeology and finding treasure.

Anyways, in this au, the first season would have them be sorta antagonists but not necessarily villains, while the second one would have them be (reluctant) villains. This is due to Pericles needing some helpers with his planispheric disc plan— and also out of a sick nostalgia. The reason why they are complying is because he has demonstrated on a certain not Mayor what will happen if they don’t. Hot Dog Water is involved too, but she’ll be in another post.

I am a butterfly person, a rare species since the majority of our species has been wiped out.

Despite my small, short frame(I am 4'5-8), I am in the adult phase of my life cycle.

They refer to me as the anti-morty, for being the antithesis of a morty, a complete opposite in not just personality but physical attributes too, despite all the opposite attributes, I am still a morty, however. I also do not hesitate to assassinate any rick OR morty that gets in my way as I do not like the ricks.

╳ Due to modifications from my Rick, I was given powerful abilities. That also includes intelligence, I have Rick-like intellect.

➷My main ability: the ability to drain and transfer power and intelligence through a butterfly that shares identical wings to my own. Almost like a physical manifestation of my own soul, only I can perceive it.

꒰I can only absorb 6 powers however, it also takes a huge amount of energy from me as it absorbs into my very essence, in order to recover I have to take a 3 hour nap after one power absorption session. But I was smart enough to find a way around this by creating a clone to store extra powers. I can swap powers with this clone.꒱

A wrist watch that can scan dimensions and planets for it's threat levels and alerts it's user when a threat is nearby, it can also scan individuals, allowing me to see what dimension they came from, who they are, what abilities they currently have and their memories.

Portal gun

⋆ My portal gun is a black gun, the edging glows, containing a blue-ish purple liquid inside it. The liquid is a special portal fluid/slime I invented that regenerates itself from consumption, essentially making it infinite. My portal gun also has a touch screen on it where I can draw a shape on it, it will save into the portal guns database as an option for the design of my portal as the gun has a few settings that can alter the size, shape and color of a portal. The minimum size being the size of my hand whereas the maximum is the size of the largest known black hole, ton 618. The portal gun also saves in the universe history to add it to it's randomizer feature, where I can randomly portal around instead of going to a direct location.

- ̗̀ I keep a loot portal hidden under my clothes in order to carry my weapons and gadgets easily, to seemingly "pull them out of nowhere", which somewhat catches people off guard. ̖́-

My Rick, butterfly Rick, was a nutorious Mafia boss in my dimension. He assassinated my family and took me in to experiment on me, turning me into his personal mini weapon. His crimes were so great that he had to destroy my planet to get rid of any sign my species had ever existed and relocated both of us to a new dimension, where he'd continue the unethical experimentations on me. After a mission to kill a time God, I gained the ability to stop time. From there I had secretly planned my escape, using the time stop to work on a mind control device, it was the only way I'd have the chance to do something like that without him knowing. After I carried out my plans, I took the opportunity when it was presented to me and inserted the mind control device into his ear, where it would make it's way into the brain to take control of his nervous system, essentially taking control of his movements while his consciousness still stays so he's forced to experience every last minute of it. After I was done with him, I ordered him to kill himself and then moved on to get rid of any other versions of him that had lingered out there in the multiverse leaving only one. The very one I wasn't able to kill just yet. So I tortured him instead and left him in the backrooms. Along the way he met another Rick. Rick x-265, and fell in love with them in the backrooms. After more threats he had given me, I went and killed him after gaining eldritch godlike powers and kept the other Rick alive. After the conflict, x-265 would decide to let go of further grudges against me and take me in. We became allies. Many things would happen until then, I would get kidnapped and killed by a version of Rick prime. Rick x-265 would bring me back to life in a storage clone, however I had no healing abilities in the storage clone. It all ended the moment he came in drunk and asking me where I went ; because I went missing for a few weeks. He had drunkenly compared me to my Rick and I held a dagger towards him to get him to stop. He took said dagger and sliced my eye. Leaving me permanently blind. After several meltdowns from the scar, I gave in. It looked exactly like butterfly Ricks scar. I gave in and decided to become butterfly rick. But better. Because if I was going to be the man I hate so much, I might as well do it better than he ever could. He hated anyone who was better than him.

At my current age, I know 3 things about myself for sure: I can't dwell on anything (especially before bed), I can't have plums and beets, and I never follow the first two prohibitions. Because of the abundance of thoughts about Paralives, last night I dreamed that I was an intern at PS.

The first thing I remember is that I was introduced to the development team, an analyst, and a tester. And then the team leader asked how I did my "homework" on getting to know the project. I said that I was interested in the fact that they decided to make a mechanic where individual light bulbs in lighting fixtures can burn out and parafolk can buy a separate, suitable light bulb for some objects and screw it in. ATTENTION: I doubt that this will be implemented in the game - it was only part of my dream. And then I asked, if we deepen the home gameplay towards realistic household chores, then can we find out how the mechanism of breakdown and the mechanism of clogging of plumbing is implemented, including sinks/baths/washing machines/boilers, and not just toilets, because a clog is not just a leaky flush tank.

There was an awkward pause and I continued asking questions in an attempt to ease the tension. "Will the game implement a system of water pipes and drainage, which would limit the placement of plumbing?", "Will we create an electrical circuit for the house, where all energy consumers should be taken into account, including sockets and light switches?", "What kind of heating will be preferable in the land of parafolk: radiators, convectors, air conditioners or a warm sweat system?", "Will sources of cold and heat in the house be taken into account, such as tiled floors, doors to the street and a chimney of a fireplace on the upper floors?", "What is the maximum length of a floor in the game and will it be possible to create a panel, frame, brick, monolithic reinforced concrete house and a house-hybrid of construction technologies?" I also asked a bunch of questions that I have already forgotten.

Everyone was looking at me. And then my boss said, "You know, we haven't even thought about this until now. Your first task is to formulate a concept and create a prototype for our focus group and testing of this idea this week." I was very surprised by this deadline. Considering that 1 of these 5 days was already coming to an end, I was assured that this time was more than enough and, as soon as I got the hang of the project, I would be able to do all this in 24 hours.

Then there was a typical "strange work day" in a dream, where it turned out that the junior programmer assigned to me to help with the implementation turned out to be a goose. I mean, he was not anthropomorphic, but a real live, white goose (and, if you look at it from another point of view, he was a really talented programmer, capable of writing code according to my idiotic technical task). As is customary in any dreams, the only thing that confused me was that his name was Steve (this name is associated with very difficult to communicate with people, like Jobs and cases from my experience, but Steve-goose was not only a competent employee, but also a pleasant person).

Somewhere on the 4th day of my work and hard crunch on studying the sewerage system of an American private house together with a goose, I began to sleep right at the meeting. My boss noticed this and asked me if I thought our parafolk personality profile system, which was a complete homage to the Sims 2 character system, was boring. I said that the OCEAN system was good, of course, but I would add to these 5 traits the missing traits from the HEXACO system (and added some other traits that I came up with at that moment, which brought their number to 9), and also returned the Yunk typology, but would make it not a "zodiac sign", but a lifestyle, and also added that very "passion for some activity" from the Hobbies DLC. At that moment, I forgot about fetishes and taboos (as always in a dream).

The team leader loved the idea, but everyone else sighed heavily. He crossed out all his old notes on the wall and started drawing everything again. Steve, sitting next to me at the daily, stretched out his long neck and whispered that this person was both the project's best hope for getting out of beta and the local Elon Musk. So I had to be extremely careful with my "bouts of creativity."

The boss saw this and asked what was missing in my character system for the base game. I said that the fear system from Sims 2 needs to be developed into a full-fledged mechanic. Like there are fears (rational fear of something), and there are phobias (irrational fear). And we could get a lot of interesting multi-layered systems with intrapersonal conflicts of parafolk, like real people. For example, a person who dreams of becoming a superstar (because his mother wanted him to), but is afraid of the stage. And that this would give more replayability with a small amount of starting content for stories: a phobia could arise during the game due to the player's actions, due to being in society with parafolk with this phobia, be hidden from the player (the character knows about his fear), hidden from both the player and the character (latency period). I was asked to list the options:

Thalassophobia - (homage to Sims 2);

Cynophobia (dogs);

Nyctophobia (darkness);

Acrophobia (heights);

Verminophobia (bacteria)

Claustrophobia and Agarophobia (closed and open spaces);

I named half a dozen more phobias that I could remember, including trypophobia. And then I came up with the concept that we need to make a family of pre-mades, where the only toddler will have absolutely all the realized phobias, which will constantly exhaust his parents, but at the same time this same child will heroically save his family, neighbors and acquaintances from dangers and be a "reinsurer hen". This impressed everyone. Especially my boss. … He said that I have 3 days to give them a finished sample so that they can decide whether to do it. I said that I can't. To which the boss assured me that it's okay, because I can do it on the weekend. Steve, who had previously been kind to me, said that he could only help with the mechanics of the house, and this task was beyond his strength.

It seems that this is where my career in game development ended, because I don't remember much after that. But I do remember that I woke up thinking, "I slept through my alarm! Steve now has to defend me in front of everyone else! We'll get fired! We don't have time for anything!" Maybe it's for the best that I didn't pursue a career in the game industry - this world already has enough Peter Molyneux.

"No. Some of my subjects are like children to me, and I am responsible for all of them, but I have no biological children. We are all born from the same mother, after all."

"The feet. Its a habit, but when you can shapeshift any part of the body save for your own feet, it can be disorienting seeing feet that aren't that of a chicken."

I will do mxf BUT with limits, that you probably will not like. These limits to my mxf are:

I have some plot ideas, I am willing to hear yours too. I am huge fan of historical, but I will do fantasy, modern, futuristic- and every other genre as well.

————Two Ideas I have Currently————

One:

Muse (me) has been a resident of the local psychiatric hospital for a few years. Because of the nature, they keep to themselves and don't go out of the way to meet people. Muse (you) is a newly admitted patient to the same hospital. They're loud & aggressive. , by habit, goes out of their way to avoid , but is fascinated by him. makes it their personal mission to get as close as they possibly can to . One day manages to steal a key card and ambushes in a hallway. Once the two are alone, is finally able to get forced conversations from Muse and decides to keep prisoner for as long as they can without getting caught.

One 2.0:

Kind of a similar plot to one, but our OC’s are “witches” or “warlocks” who each have special individual powers. Your oc has the power of hypnosis/mind control (willing to change). My oc has the power of telekinesis & attraction- meaning he attracts things to him (people, items, other magical beings…) Our oc’s get captured and locked away into an institution. What happens from here can be decided together.

Two:

Muse (me), an innocent church boy, who tries to get back at his family, accidentally gets himself caught up in a cult, which is run by Muse (you). Muse learns quickly that he cannot escape the cult and is stuck being teased and tormented.

Two 2.0

Kind of similar to plot two, but our OC’s end up in some kind of religious camp or institution for being gay or assumed gay. Whatever happens from here can be decided together.

Fallout 4!

Kia ora, friendos!

So I finally finished the main storyline in Persona 3 Portable a few weeks ago, and I just wasn’t quite in the mood to jump right into Persona 4 Golden just yet, so I’ve been kinda just bouncing around between a few different games and trying to find something that would stick while I work up the energy to get into P4G. I’ve played a bunch of stuff, but nothing really clicked… until…

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition has been out for a while on PC, but it recently (finally) made it’s way to console and of course, because it’s a Xbox Game Studios game, it arrived day-one on Game Pass. I adored this game when I was a kid, and, don’t tell the cops this but, it was the very first game I ever pirated. I still remember the disc, it was so cool. It was this beautiful gold colour (the images below don’t really do it justice) and it felt really neat to have a game I liked so much on this rad gold CD.

So far I haven’t played a ton of the new remastered version, but I’ve played a few skirmish matches against the AI and it’s still a lot of fun - some of the best matches happen when you make the map as big as it can possibly be, set the population limit to maximum (500 vs the 200 in the original!) and then go off to build your empire, and next thing you know three hours have passed. I haven’t dared to venture into the online multiplayer matchmaking stuff yet, but I was looking at it the other day and I saw that you can play co-op with another human against the AI, and I thought that sounded really cool so I will probably give that a go sometime soon.

So that’s been one of my timesinks lately. Another is Cities: Skylines Remastered! This also recently came to Xbox Game Pass, supercedeing the Xbox One Edition version, which you can still play, but this one just looks and runs a bit better on the Series X|S consoles and on Cloud Gaming. And no, it does not include all of the DLC like the name kind of implies - that stuff is all still locked away in the Xbox Store. I don’t know for sure, but I would bet that it’s the same deal on PC, too.

If you’re into simulation games, I probably don’t need to tell you about this one - it’s basically the answer to the question ‘What if SimCity, but good?’ Cities has taken over that whole genre for me nowadays, I don’t know if I’ve even thought about SimCity at all until writing this and thinking about how to describe Cities. But I digress. This game is great, and it is one of the biggest timesinks out there for me personally, with its never-ending gameplay loop of expand, add infrastructure and zoning, make the people happy (or don’t 🤷🏻‍♀️), rinse, repeat. I can spend many hours in a row playing this game without noticing, pretty much the very definition of a timesink. This past week I turned on a bunch of “cheats” so I could just mess around and not have to worry about money (I do that enough in real-life lol) or space and build whatever I felt like, whenever I felt like. But that’s enough about that.

Now for the big one: about a week and a half ago, I was going through my (ridiculously large) library of digital Xbox games, looking ostensibly for something I had not played yet, but when my eyes tracked across the screen and spotted Fallout 4 my brain said “We haven’t played that (in several years)!” and so I said “Fine.” And the rest was history. I’ve since completed the main story route with the Brotherhood of Steel, blew up the Institute, built a number of small settlements, and killed a lot of raiders, robots, and feral ghouls. At the time of writing, it is currently 3:30am because I stayed up all night playing this game. My cat is now very mad at me and wants me to go to bed.

Fallout is great. But this one is my favourite, because of all the endless opportunities to scavenge in the Commonwealth for resources, and then go back to your bases to use said resources to build buildings or craft weapons, gear, or ammo. I can spend hours not even doing quests at all, just collecting garbage and turning it into something useful and cool. Plus there are so many great little easter eggs you can find around the world, which is why I decided to include two screenshots instead of just one.

If you’ve never played a Fallout game, I think this is probably the best one to start with. A lot of people will argue with me and say that Fallout New Vegas is the better game, but those people are wrong. It’s at its core an immersive sim. Think things like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, or the more classic examples from Arkane; Dishonored and Prey. Except this one is set in a post-apocalypse some 277 years in the future. I really can’t recommend this series enough, and if all you have available to you is 3 or New Vegas, those are still really great entries in this IP.

An Ordinary Girl's Guide To: Groceries

It's so important to feed yourself, that's how you keep living. But, a lot of people enter a grocery store and all nutrition leaves their minds and their cart fills up with sweets and other junk. Don't get me wrong, I love the occasional sweet treat and bag of chips, but that will not be sustainable long term. So, I have a little step-by-step that might help you out!

Figure out what you're going to eat!

I usually do groceries weekly, so before making my trip I write out what I want for lunch/dinner and see what things I already have in my kitchen. For breakfasts I just keep it simple and eat basically eat the same 1-2 meals every day.

2. Budget, if you want.

I currently grocery shop for my family, so I'm not budgetting anything. BUT it can be useful because a lot of things have gotten expensive latley, including food. While at the store, if there is a cheaper option and I know the quality is alright, then I'll take it.

3. Choose a store.

Kinda optional, use what you have. Personally, I prefer Trader Joe's just because most of their items are relativley affordable and good quality.

4. Go shopping!

I ALWAYS start in the produce section, I also get most of my grocieries in the produce section. A lot of people in the US don't really eat the ammount of fresh produce that they should. To be fair, it is more expensive and there are places with food insecurites, but try your best! My typical order of putting things into my cart goes somthing like: produce, meat/proteins, dairy, bread/grains, frozen, flowers, and sometimes sweets. I try to avoid processed foods if I can, but they're not always as terrible as people make them seem. I also try to make my own sweet treats (and honestly all meals) at home so I can control how much is going into what I'm eating. However, there is no harm in getting a frozen meal or a meal kit, everyone has different schedules and budgets. My main thing is avoiding over-processed foods and eating lots of fresh produce.

5. Coming home.

Put everything away ASAP and assign times to cook. Some people cook everything at once and reheat during the week, I personally like cooking the day of (at most the day before) for maximum freshness. Try to use everything you've got! It might be scary to improvise but it'll be easier and more fun over time.

There you go, you just got groceries and started feeding yourself in a more life-sustainable way! Nobody is perfect, it's okay if your plate looks different from someone else. As long as you feel healthy and energized, that's all that matters!
