Ok I was on a facebook page for 90s anime and they were talking about Utena a lot and multiple people were talking about how it was crazy random nonsense that Utena turned into a car and NO it's a clear and obvious continuation of the themes of the TV Show and is setup within the film itself!

How can you watch all 39 episodes of the show and not understand the symbolism? An entire arc is dedicated to the Car Symbolism! When she turns into a car, you should remember the entire arc that was about cars and understand what it means!

#i am not a weeb #It's so bad I need to stop #Anyway the symbolism of the car is obviously adulthood and sexuality in the tv show and the movie adds into it a bit more by going into obj #ctification with anthy which is of course WHY akio has a key and they do the whole thing with Akio's death I mean they even put the car int #the movie just to reestablish the symbolism that was already set up prior so really I mean I get that symbolism is hard but Utena is a show #that uses symbolism so much that like you do have to engage with it and there's enough focus on metaphor and figurative language that I hon #ly don't even think it turns into that much of an “you need a really high IQ to understand rick and morty tbf” situation because the show w #nts you to figure out what the metaphors are afterall! So yeah #when Utena turns into a car it's clearly a metpahor for gay sex as I exlpained in my previous post about this a few weeks backs
