Spent a lovely evening exploring the stunning Richard H. Driehaus Museum, which is housed within an old mansion from Chicago's Gilded Age.
I was invited to the museum's seasonal open house and opening celebration of Glass to Garden: Tiffany Inspired Floral Designs (exhibition not pictured here—I took so many photos!). Brought my parents as my guests, of course. ^^ Thank you to Katy from The Silverman Group for the invitation—so good seeing you tonight!
Also (in the last photo), thanks to the old-timey restroom, Today I Learned: Crapper is the real name of a plumbing equipment company. Who knew!

Philanthropist Richard H. Driehaus (1942-2021) touched our firm and its founders in myriad ways since we opened up shop in Chicago over 13 years ago. Much of his impact was felt through he and his Foundation’s broad support of the Arts, and specifically Classical Architecture; whether hosting soirees that served as annual reunions for our cohort of colleagues and peers; opening up the doors to the Driehaus Museum to serve as home base for the lecture series Elizabeth organized in her 10 years with the ICAA Chicago; or outbidding all others to secure one of Matt (and friends’) first titan live drawings, the funds of which went to support arts education. Richard was known to have a particular fondness for the Art Nouveau, a taste niche Matt & Elizabeth share. Intensely. In tribute to him and that mutual interest, this week we’ll open up the vaults with a tour of a few Art Nouveau treasures we’ve hunted on our travels over the years. By cherishing and celebrating his support and incredible generosity, may we all be inspired to give more to the betterment of art, culture, place, and community. Thank you Richard. Rest In Peace. . . #richarddriehaus #artnouveau (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMYOWnNsDHk/?igshid=106mlxfbdu77f

Art museum security guards spend their days in uniform, speaking quietly or not at all, surrounded by works of irreplaceable art. It may look easy, but the job requires a stressful degree of responsibility, poise, and silence. Some guards may begin to feel trapped inside their own thoughts, or even inside a painting. The Sleeping Fool presents the stories, dreams and thoughts of those who work behind the walls of an art gallery.
