why do you like enchanted so much and what plays in your head when you listen to it
imagine me flying around in the stars like the nyan cat and then multiply that by ∞ and then imagine me flailing my limbs around at 2 am attempting to dance (you've seen a recording of me doing that before to my tears ricochet so it shouldn't be so hard) and if u imagine allll that you're not even close to the things that happen to my brain chemistry when that song comes on

A non musician analysed Kierans themes. Part 1
Alrigth, if you know me that much, you know that alongside my obsession whit writing and fanfic and reading, I am a music fan and a videogame ost sucker.
I love to find narratives in music despite the only music concept I actually know is the leitmotiv. I'll probably just point out things you already know , but this is a good procrastination to avoid write a little.
Come whit me in this journey
Kieran's first battle theme
youtube
The two leitmotifs this "medieval " banger has actually pop up in the first 5 seconds we hear.
Leitmotivs
1- The first thing we hear are some fast notes that get played in a synth. This is at least for me a leitmotif since last battlr chanpion battle have a similar start that uses the same notes just re-organized.
This one migth simblize hus anxiety, at least 4 me, since its a fast and ascending thing
2- After that we got met whit a violin, that starts playing an intro melody, this one is also a leitmotiv since we can hear the same exact melody in "Kierans rage" and some times later.
This one represents hia joy or and passion of battling at least 4 me
Things worth pointing out
There are some things I find interesting overall due to the stage of the characther when he battles using this theme.
1- Also if we check Carmine's theme we hear how it starts whit this exactly same way, the first aynth notes are exactly the same and then the exact following violin melody its played except its played in a synth, in a sligthly slowet tempo and another tone
I find interesting how we hear Carmine's theme first, what makes this "Kieran is under Carmine's shadow" thing even more evident. We will think "Kieran's theme starts like Carmine's" and not "Carmine's theme starts like Kieran's"
The similarities make sense since this is the Kieran that's under Carmine's shadow the most. He starts pullin her away and that's when the similarities start to fade
Afther that the rest of his themes doenst start up exactly like Carmine's, and the 2nd leit motiv i pointed out its just used again in the champion theme
2- I cant help but find this theme so medieval like, so fairytaily like. If you tell me this is a battle ost for a Dungeons and Dragons like game, I would buy it completely. You can imagine the goblings, gremlings, dwarfs and obviouslythe ogres. I dont know exactly if its the instruments choice or the melody building but I can't help but notice it
All the characther lore is based on his love for "fantastic stories" , Kitakami folklore and the ogre. This is just accurate. The flute alongside the violin feel like just the rigth option to bring me that fairyteily feeling
3- Well, I also can't help but notice haow alongside fantasyous, it feel heroic. The xilophone? giving the cheerful rhythim Alongiside the flute for the higthest tones, the piano for deepnes and the epic sounding violin make this feel like following the story of some sort of knigth.
By example: 0:36. (Or the chorus) sounds kknda almigthy
He thinks he can be the hero in the story. And damm that feeling is potrayed in the sound and tome of the song.
4- I would also like to point out how the violin takes all the stage, that could be seenn as something that just fits due to the medieval and heroic demenaurs. But the final outcomes and portrayals of the instrument in the later themes makes me want to point it out as something deeper.
Taking in mind how the violin turns put it could simbolize how he sees the MC or the ogre. You can see how the insttument sounds heroic epic and hopefull in this theme. And considering how he looks up yo both the oc and ogerpon makes it so interesnting
I Hope you enjoyed this! In no-that-much time I'll bring ya the one for the two themes left. Im lookin foward to the champion theme as its the more juicy to analyse
I was avoyt to make all the analysis in one huge poat but seeing how this one is already big that shit would be so so big and messy
This is also a good way to make it out for my lack of content this time since my one shot came out a month and half ago
Sorry 4 that! Im not goung thru a good headspace to write so i do t wanna rush it. And making this things in the meanwhile so you dont miss me is also enjoyable!

okay so i listened to the summoning and take me back to eden (it autoplayed so i figured i might as well listen it to it) and. wow. not what i expected at all! i'm a big fan of songs shifting genres and it looks like they do that for all of their songs so thats really cool!!
i would love to listen to any more reccomendations you have, since typically i enjoy music that's faster paced. i really really liked the summoning though, and the lyrics for take me back to eden. wow. like. WOW. i did research into their lore and it bangs so damn hard
thanks for the rec :)
(also, sorry about the a/b/o stuff with other fandoms :( i love talking about it for pwp reasons and socioeconomic theorizing reasons so my blog is a safe place for that stuff if you want :))
Tumblr media
I am absolutely elated that you like what you've heard so far!!!! And also so so sorry for the rabbit hole you're going to fall down with these guys
I would honestly recommend the whole Take Me Back to Eden album as a new listener—I looped it for practically a month straight when I first found them haha. It's a great sampler of their range and by far the most refined, cohesive release of their main 3 LPs.
Beyond just getting you to listen to a whole album in one sitting, here's some of their popular songs/singles:
(Btw, there's a TON of good live recordings for some of these as well; they sound just as good, if not better, on stage as they do in-studio)
Alkaline
This is the one with the sexy banner/mic stand stroking lol. It's a sensual, synth-y intro leading into a hell of a headbanger with chuggy guitars
The Summoning
Mentioning this for the live performances in particular. Vessel goes CRAZY with his live vocals, there's a huge drum solo in that atmospheric part, and a LOT of on-stage shenanigans to be had. It's the song that made them blow up HARD, and for a good reason.
Rain (ty @tonguetyd for the rec lol, here's a last-minute addition)
This is another great sample of Vessel's vocals, especially in the intro. It starts slower with the solo piano but gets really powerful in the second half. A personal and fan-favourite for sure!
Hypnosis
If you vibe with Alkaline, you'll vibe with Hypnosis. It's like ultra-concentrated, pathetic sopping wet paper towel levels of yearning with groovy, heavy breakdowns
The Offering
A setlist staple that'll make you want to dive headfirst into the nearest mosh pit. This is a good example of the music tying into the lore/story behind the band as well, if you're interested in that kind of lore analysis
Jaws
An oldie but a fan favourite! It might just be me but it kinda gives me Bring Me the Horizon vibes, so if you like them then you'll probably like Jaws as well
Vore
Yes, it's called Vore. Welcome to Sleep Token lol. It's one of their heaviest songs with lots of harsh vocals (Vessel really shows off his higher range here) and super groovy, dynamic instrumentals. Personal fave tbh, it's at the top of my Spotify repeats playlist
And finally, the lore 🥰🥰 I've only been here a short time and still have yet to discover a lot of their story, but here's an overview of the band history and lore, as well as an in-depth interview with Vessel from 2017. They like to add a lot of Easter eggs to their releases (they created a whole ass alphabet/cypher to go along with Take Me Back to Eden), and the fans go WILD with theories and analysis!
Anyways I'm gonna cut off the infodump there haha. Please let me know what you think and if you run across anything else (songs, lore, etc.) that you liked!!
(Also ty for the omega solidarity 😌 the sleep token fandom is so much fun and still exists in the same weirdo-freak realm as dtblr omegaverse-enthusiasts lol. There's just far less *actual* omegaverse here.
I've been spoiled by the sheer amount of a/b/o content and normalization in the dteam fandom that normal amounts of fandom a/b/o feel like total deprivation. If you ever feel like sharing I'm always down for theories and headcanons too btw. It's such a fun, complex trope and I love to see what others think)

Streetlife Serenade Ranked
Tumblr media
Since this album is apparently vastly underrated, allow me to start this by saying that I absolutely love every song on this album. There isn't one that doesn't do it for me.
1) The Entertainer
I don't think I can adequately describe how much I love this song. I have always been so blown away by it. The instrumentation is so masterfully done, and each verse gradually builds on the last. There is the opening acoustic guitar, then that iconic synth riff that later repeats between verses throughout the song. The acoustic guitar continues on its own for the first verse, then the drums and bass come in on the second verse, then the steel guitar comes in on the third verse, then the banjo on the fourth verse, then the fantastic piano on the fifth verse. Then they all come together for the big crescendo of the sixth and seventh verses, while Billy absolutely goes nuts vocally. The cynical lyrics are some of the best that Bill has ever written, and I have always been obsessed with the rhyme scheme he used. It's poetic in a way that is reminiscent of Piano Man, but more impressive. Also shout out to the lost verse, which I love so much.
2) Weekend Song
This is an absolutely fantastic rock 'n' roll song, and I just love it more and more with time. I love that guitar riff, as well as the organ toward the end. I am obsessed with the gospely, bluesy piano riffs that are reminiscent of Ain't No Crime. And I think this is one of the best vocal performances Bill ever gave. I mean wtf!!!!!! He is so good, it makes me angry. I have seen this song compared to Take Me to the Pilot, but I won't go there other than to say eat your heart out, Elton. All those comparisons, but one thing Elton and Leon could definitely never do is sing like the great Billy Joel.
3) The Great Suburban Showdown
This is one of my favorite Billy Joel vocal melodies. It's one of those songs that just gets me right in my soul. The combination of the beautiful synth solos, the fantastic piano, the wistful pedal steel guitar, and the nostalgic lyrics alone would make me a little emotional, but add Billy's gorgeous vocal, and this song can easily bring me to the verge of tears.
4) Root Beer Rag
This is an incredible ragtime piano piece that sticks in my head for days after hearing it. I love everything about it, but I particularly love the part containing the dissonant, alternating major and minor seconds that comes out of nowhere and contrasts fantastically with the rest of the song. And I really love listening to live performances of this song and hearing Bill play it as fast as humanly possible, challenging the band to keep up.
5) Last of the Big Time Spenders
This is a song that I never hear anyone talk about, and I'm not sure why. I am obsessed with the piano on this song. It has a great, sort of jazz/blues flavor that provides an interesting juxtaposition to the country undertones of the pedal steel guitar. Bill has some incredible, soulful vocals here. And I think the lyrics are so clever, with the comparison of spending money and spending time. It's just a great song all around, and I think it leads really nicely into Weekend Song, which comes next on the album and has a similar feel.
6) Los Angelenos
This is an awesome rock song that goes harder than a lot of the songs on Glass Houses, with a great combination of electric piano, electric guitar, bass, excellent vocals by Billy, and some vintage, sardonic Billy Joel lyrics.
7) Roberta
I love the prominence of the piano on this song. The piano throughout the whole song is beautiful, but I especially love the intro and the piano break before the last verse. This seems to be a theme of this album, but there are more particularly great vocals from Billy here as well.
8) Streetlife Serenader
I absolutely love the classical sound of the piano in this song. The intro is just gorgeous. Billy's vocal here is great, and the rare appearance of his falsetto is delightful to me.
9) Souvenir
This song is short and sweet, but it is so good. The melody is gorgeous, the piano intro/outro is beautiful, and the wistful lyrics can really make me emotional.
10) The Mexican Connection
This is a beautiful, relaxing piece of music. I love all the piano work here and how it is complemented by the guitar, the congas, the organ, and, later on, the marimba. I especially love the big crescendo of piano chords at 2:03.

a small list of some specific things and moments in skz songs that i think need attention drawn to them because of how much they FUCK. part 1?
these range from the delivery of a single word or a single adlib to an entire section of instrumental
and I did write it on a 14 hour flight several months ago so it's a bit all over the place.
anyway press more to read me being extremely autistic about skz music and trying to talk about it with 0 music production language knowledge.
in no order whatsoever:
charmer: 1:15 pigeons follow me [PIGEON IMPRESSION]
cheese the synth moment in the second half of prechorus???? eg 0:56 to 1:02
phobia the 'oooohhh' behind the oh Oh OoAH OOah (it happens twice at the very start)
domino changbins dadadadada of dominos falling at like 1:34
domino the instrument during some verses that sounds like 'wahwahwahwah' I love it
domino just holy shit the entire instrumental I could talk about it for actual hours not kidding
booster the higher vocals in the back throughout basically the whole chorus
booster the subtle ah~aah at 2:26
booster the escelation in the aggressiveness of the "one step ahead"
venom prechorus w the wrapped up around ur fingers bit just LISTEN TO THE LIKE. PERCUSSION? idk wtf I'm talking about so idk how to describe it but this song is like the audio version of a fidget cube to me
freeze the beauty of the fake buildup instrumental. like just really tune in to the instrumental 3:30 onwards it'd so pretty
battle ground 3:06 "toZEN👹" WHATT
mirror the ahhhhs in the prechorus ik we have all noticed it u need to REALLY LISTEN AND FEEL IT
levanter whatevers going on in the prechorus instrumental can u tell I love synths. I love levanter so fucking much man
levanter the way it ends half way through the chorus makes it feel so much more resolute? idk I love it
yayaya the CHOIR AT 2:19 FUCKING GOD
rock 2:23 changbins oh!! ,,,no:(((
question the instrumental at 1:18
YOU. the like?? retro japanese game show impact sound effect?? from 0:50 onwards (btw YOU (the i am you intro) is ot8 safe since only changbin, jeongin and hyunjin are in it)
get cool the instrumental at 1:05 owaouwooo uwAuowoo uWAOUuuu :)))
get cool 2:38 the 'ah~h~hh:)))' in the bg
0325 1:55 part from WHO? ( fun fact for the babystays that may not know since its never been ot8'd)
0325 3:09 BACK W THE GAMESHOW IMPACT SOUND EFFECT YUHHH
entrance 1:13 the faint ahhhhh in the bg that you can can BARELY hear (entrance is also ot8 safe from what I can tell apart from maybe some samples that are too pitch shifted to tell)
boxer 0:45 the way the instrumental comes back in just. rapid slideshow of robots for a half second
chronosaurus the percussion being fast and slow varying gives the sense of time coming faster than it should and I think thats neat.
19 the clock ticking throughout is again neat.
lovestay the strings !!!!!!!!!!! raaah I love me some strings
gods menu 0:37 the subtle 'oooooo's
this is a mere fraction of the things I have to list but I don't want this to get too obnoxiously long. I'm calling this part one for a reason cos I have SO MUCH to say. if u have any suggestions of specific parts or elements that are special to you, absolutely send me an ask pointing it out!

WIP questionnaire tag
the indomitable @fortunatetragedy tagged me on this baby while i was away and boy howdy do i love talking about my projects.
diving headfirst into The Singularity Project (codename: T.E.S. CO) for this one, babes.
What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
The Vibes. Last October I was being harassed by a brain worm (lol) that did not want to become concrete in any way, and the only way I could get it down was by writing "the vibes" of what I wanted. Those vibes included "hazy 60s lounge", "synth", "Panos Cosmatos' style for weird ass stuff", and "burnt orange".
If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
What Have You Become by MNQN, but more 80s-fied. And because I feel like it, it's end credits song would be I Remember by Tristam but like... slightly more melancholic.
What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
So far, it'll have to be Verne. Neither hero or villain, he's the protagonist's father, and while he isn't physically in the story (as far as I can tell) he inescapably haunts the narrative. By "saving the world" the only way he thought possible, he doomed his son to a life no one deserves. He's also a silly guy who thinks himself a god (derogatory) and is wanted for several crimes against humanity. Second fave is Mike, our deuteragonist. He's just a guy trying to make a living but his work crush has been acting super weird by knocking back 20+ cans of soda per shift and claiming he can "hear the Mall speaking to him".
What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Tumblrinas (affectionate, gender neutral) would probably also be reblogging some horror webseries things (SCP, The Walten Files, The Backrooms, etc), as well as more classic horror such as Re-Animator, The Thing, and The Fly.
What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
.......Yes. When the story started to form I struggled with the idea of capturing it in a single medium. I am first and foremost a writer, obvs, but a lot of the story relied heavily on visual storytelling. I eventually decided to turn this into a "multi-media project", which means there's a huge chunk of writing, but there are also segments that can only be experienced through audio and visuals (and maybe some fun ARG-esque puzzles). Three POVs? Each POV has its own timeline and its own medium? Did I embark on a multi-month journey to learn Blender and video editing? Am I still trying to get the story down? The answer is yes. (Help me.)
Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Yes. Mike has an anthill because it's the only thing he can keep alive.
How do your characters travel/get around?
In the 1911 portion? Via ship. Ernest Shackleton's ship on its voyage to the Antarctic, to be exact. In the 1981 portion? Via bus. Mike's too broke to afford a car. In the 2021 portion? Via car. [Cy] is the man with the plan... and also the car to drive his crew around.
What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Mike's journals, which covers the events of 1981 through 1983. This part is the bulk of the entire project, and the part that is mostly told through writing.
What aspects (tropes, maybe?) will you think draw your audience in?
So many morally gray characters. But also morally corrupt characters. And morally confused characters.
I hope you like your monsters goopy, and your effects practical.
Don't worry about the cult swearing they can save the soul of a poor young "confused" man.
The true friends were the transgender allegories we made along the way.
What is the point of Man vs. Machine when the Man knows not what he is.
The worm can talk and it has anxiety. I think it's gay?
What are your hopes for your WIP?
TO COMPLETE IT. LMAO. Mostly I just want to be able to stand up and say "Hey, look what I made! I made it because I wanted to and all my hard work paid off!" But I guess it would also be neat to have some sort of cult following? Would love to see fanart of what people think some of the characters look like! I wanna see fic! Give me fan songs I can blast while I drive! I wanna see certain YouTubers react/try to "solve" it so that I can sit there shaking my head. You know. The usual.
this took way longer than i expected so i'ma quick tag @ap0stle, @kairahara, @wrencatte, and YOU.

A track-by-track thoughts post on the "Minecraft: Pixel Genesis" remix album, like what I did with the Minecraft Tetris album.
Also for the record, I listened to parts of of the original unremixed ones to get the gist before listening to their remixes (with the exceptions of Creator and Precipice, which I listen to a lot).
Featherfall (Hyper Potions Remix) - How is this the same song? I mean I guess I kinda hear it, but like. The original one is slow and ambient, meanwhile the remix feels almost like a track from an RPG. Very nice, though! I'm not too fond of the weird voice clips or whatever.
Watcher (Synthion Remix) - I like that the intro is sort of a chiptune demake of the original track, and then it kinda sounds more like something from an SNES game, before doing the sort of "bwawawawawawa" sound some music uses. You'd know it if you heard it. Also random out-of-nowhere pop at like 1:40. I like how it gets a bit more chiptuney in the background towards the end. Pretty good, even if it's the kind of music I don't normally listen to.
Puzzlebox (AIKA Remix) - The original kinda sounds ominous but calm. This remix is kinda. Not that. Honestly I don't really like this one much. Especially the random mob noises in the background.
komorebi (AIKA Remix) - I really like the unremixed version. It feels like a classic Minecraft track, all calm and piano-y, with nice ambient windchime noises as well. I am starting to cry a little bit. The remix has a nice intro that's, like, synthy and melancholic, but then it goes kinda a bit more intense and yeah I like this one!
pokopoko (Synthion Remix) - Going from the calm and slightly melancholic original version to this remix is kinda interesting. It has a kind of "end credits" feel to it that I really like. Also the chiptune aspect is fun!
yakusoku (leon chang Remix) - Damn, Kumi Tanioka's Minecraft tracks are really nice. I want to cry again. Waaah. The remix is. Fine? It kinda feels generic maybe??? Don't have much to say. Next track!
Infinite Amethyst (Snail's House Remix) - Why is Minecraft music so nice? Uhhhh anyway getting distracted. This one feels the most like what I think of when I hear the word "remix", like at the start it still sounds a bit like the original track, and then the actual remixy bit sets in and it's pretty good! Yeah.
Deeper (Elliot Hsu Remix) - Oooh, another chiptuney one! It almost feels like. You know how there are like "Smash remixes", like remixes of game music that's put in Smash Bros.? Yeah this feels like it could be one of those, like if Steve appears in Smash 6 I can totally imagine this track being in there.
Eld Unknown (Elliot Hsu Remix) - Very nice! A tiny bit closer to the kind of stuff I usually listen to. Also has a very epic feel to it!
Endless (Anamanaguchi Remix) - The original version makes me cry. That's unrelated to the topic at hand but I just wanted to say that. The remix is great! It kinda reminds me of like. Tyrian 2000. Like with the bouncy synth and adventurous tone.
Creator (leon chang Remix) - Creator is my second-favourite track on the 1.21 soundtrack! And I love the remix starting out as the actual intro before getting bitcrushed and transitioning into a more electronic version. If the original version of Creator sounds like the theme for a friendly but eccentric inventor, then this version sounds like the theme for a friendly but slightly-unethical mad scientist. Also zombie jumpscare. 10/10 remix!
Precipice (Hyper Potions Remix) - I love Precipice. It feels like JRPG final boss music. But this remix is just kinda. Fine? Like it sounds more like music that would play in a high-tech city in Pokémon or something.

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXIII)
Some people hate XIII (a lot of people hate XIII). I am not one of those people (I'm also a Hope and Snow enjoyer so maybe I'm just wrong). I was never quite good at the gameplay, but I really liked the world, and I really liked the music. It's like... the least Final Fantasy out of all the soundtracks? But also in a way that makes it the most Final Fantasy cause of how different it is. The game uses a lot of these 2 motifs (which is cool cause there's like 2 main worlds), and uses a lot of cool vocals and futuristic noises. My man Masashi Hamauzu is back from FFX, and he kills it.
5. The Archylte Steppe Hey! It's everyone's favorite part of the game! This is my favorite version of the "The Promise" motif; the slower tempo befitting the vast field you're running around in. Other than the fact that I love this melody, I'm a big fan of the heavy drums, and that little part where they hold back to let the melody shine through (which is also the part where the notes do that thing where they pull on my heart aaaaa). Perfect song for accidentally getting stepped on by an adamantoise to.
4. Desperate Struggle By all means, considering the context of this song, I should hate it. The amount of times I got doomed or launched into the air and smacked around, is ridiculous. But this song is so fun (especially in theatrhythm). I love the really heavy part where the rhythm gets real bouncy with the triplets, and also the part with the heavy dissonant chords, and the melody they create (buuuuuuuh buuhbuuhbuuhbuuuh buh buuuuuuuuh) it sounds so cool!!!
3. The Hanging Edge After the intro to the game, you're immediately thrown into a fuckin war, and this is what plays. That intro piano is such a unique opening, giving you that feeling of stress very unfitting of the start of most FF games, and then the rest of the song starts to build it up. The strings adding more stress and rising the song further, throwing in the percussion to add that heaviness to the song and the synth to show the vast and futuristic nature of the area, not to mention using the sound of a train stopping as an instrument (wording this as a joke but in context it's fitting)??? This song starts out so cool. But my absolute favorite part is when the fiddle (I think) comes in, and just goes absolutely bonkers with the sickest solo you've ever heard. You can say what you will about this game but goddamn the atmosphere of the opening is amazing.
2. Eidolons Similar to Desperate Struggle, I should hate this song for the very same reasons, but it slaps way too much for me to hate it for any reason. The entire song feels like constant buildup, never truly having a full melody or release, but I think that works perfectly for the stressful and timed nature of the fights it primarily plays on. I love the constant rhythm in the back, the heavy drums and the looping synth; and the guitar is fuckin rocking out the entire time. This whole song is a headbanger, also bringing in the orchestra to keep the same XIII vibe. The echoey nature of the end of the song, the guitar sounding like it's shredding in the distance, is my favorite part.
1. Blinded by Light This is THE XIII song. This is the trailer song, this is the second of the two main motifs, this is the battle song, this returns in the next two games constantly, and all of this for good reason! This song fucking bangs!!! The start is a perfect classic FF battle buildup while having its own unique nature, the drum set and guitar combined with the orchestra perfectly shows you the nature of this entire game's soundtrack, and not to mention. The melody. That violin. That violin is absolutely legendary. I don't really know how to word it, but the way it's composed is like crack for my ears. The high notes it hits, that main BUUUUUUH NUUUUUUUUUH BUHNUHHH NUUUUUUUUUH section is musical gold, and every single time I hear it in any other song that plays in this entire trilogy, I feel nothing buy joy and pure positive emotion.
Honorable mentions go to: The Promise, Defiers of Fate, Saber's Edge, The Sunleth Waterscape, Test of the L'Cie, The Yaschas Massif, Taejin's Tower (boing), and Eden Under Siege.

First impressions ratings of the new (and old) songs
Overcompensate- Still a really fucking good song. out of the singles it is by far my favourite
Next Semester- not really my usual taste, however this slaps extremely well. it is THE song made for live shows.
Backslide- aaaughh.. 10/10. a close, and like a REALLY close second
Midwest Indigo- i LOVE the instrumental, however the vocals sounded weird to me at first. i'm sure i'll get used to this though, i just can't comprehened new music at the moment. i have absolutely no idea what this song is about.
Routines in the night- the chorus sounds REALLY fucking cool. obsessed with the instrumentals as always- also it sounds very top? idk how to explain it but some parts of this song are very much twenty one pilots. like yes, tyler joseph and josh dun ARE definitely the authors of these songs. also the piano at the end. FUCK
Vignette- WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT. THE FUCK. HWUH??? okay first of all does not sound as top as ritn does. however- this goes so well???? what the fuck did they put in this song? heroin??? the weird ass synth riff?? i want this song tattooed on my brain
The craving- immediately not a fan of the whispering but that's my misophonia speaking not me. it sounds. different. than the single version, but maybe it's not? was the single also acoustic? nevertheless whenever they make an acoustic song a part of me dies /pos
Lavish- WHAT THE FUCK 2.0. HOW CAN THERE BE SO MANY TOP 1 SONGS IN A SINGLE ALBUM. THIS HAS NO RIGHT TO GO SO HARD. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, MR TWENTY ONE PILOTS. this will absolutely get stuck in my head and i am not opposed to that. the vibes are so weird in this one. insane. also how can a mood be androgynous
Navigating- not to sound like a broken record but wHAT thE fuCK. this might be like the ONE song i ACTUALLY relate to on a level DEEPER than the mariana trench. can't wait to lose my shit over this while it's blasting on max volume. aslo who let tyler sing that well? who is responsible for that? WAIT HOLD ON THAT WAS THE SONG THEY WERE PLAYING AT THE START OF THE NEXT SEMESTER MV
Snap back- okay now i'm DEF a broken record bc WTF but also how can they keep outdoing themselves on a single album? i'm def just high on emotions rn but it usually takes a few listens to get me THIS on board. like holy shit the range this man has i am going to throw up. THE MELODIES. THE BUILDUP.
Oldies station- the song is good, don't get me wrong, however right now not LOVING this as much as i am for example vignette or lavish. wait hold on the weird distortion and instrumentals during the bridge are kinda fire tho. hold on this might just win me over. and at the end also. but OH how i wish they would've used samples from rab songs (or maybe they did and i didn't notice)
At the risk of feeling dumb- this sounds. weird. just weird. or like. unique. or unusual. BIG FAN tho. like this is incredibly catchy and OH MY GOD THE BRIDGE AND VERSE 2. I AM GOING INSANE, okay yeah this is quickly climbing the leaderboard
Paladin strait- okay okay okay so this is. this is gonna be it. nothing can prepare me for this. oh my GOD THE HARMONIES IMMEDIATELY HAVE TAKEN ME OUT I FAILED: I PERISHED. also can you guess which part of the song is my favourite. yes it's the bridge, of course it's the bridge.
the ending. okay yeah what the fuck.
final thoughts: no screaming, no sad piano song, the ending was not the hds intro, 0/10

Okay first listen through of TTPD standard edition thoughts:
This is very sonically cohesive I think? I know some people were irritated she didn’t go in a new sound but honestly this album isn’t about the sound. It’s about the lyrics. Most of her albums find a balance of production and lyrics but I truly think that for this record more than any other the lyrics are supposed to shine. I really like it I think. We will see after a few more listens but there’s some high points and there’s some lows (tattooed golden retriever I’m looking you 🥴)
Fave 3:
Florida!!!
Down Bad
The Alchemy
Best 3:
But Daddy I Love Him
So Long, London
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
Fortnight
Functioning alcoholic?? Ma’am?? Im confused a little by the lyrics and the perspective here. Also, why are you’re so murderous Taylor?? It sounds nice though! Love Posty’s vocals in the background. This song is definitely going to be stuck in my head at random times. This would have been huge on Tumblr during 2014-2015. 7/10? I think this may be a grower for me.
The Tortured Poets Department
Okay drums! “Who uses a typewriter anyway” get his pretentious ass Taylor. Personally not loving that slip into a falsetto in “hold me” but I digress. The second verse (?) where the Puth and gold retriever line is? 🤨 “we’re crazy” a self aware queen… this is not my favorite? It’s not bad but I don’t think I will actively seek it out. 6/10
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
I really like this heavy dark synth in the background. I fear this is about J*e and RIP buddy. She’s the only person who could get away with “litany of reasons” in a song. Queen of Sandcastles?!?! The bridge is ruining me, girl was going through it. 8/10, I think.
Down Bad
I fear this one may let me down because I loved that stupid AI snippet that went viral on TikTok lmao. I wasn’t sure about the first verse but HOLY SHIT THIS CHORUS. “Fuck it” Ms. Swift I am scandalized (no I’m not you go queen). The gaylors are going to run wild with the “I lost my twin” bit 🙄. Love this one!! 9/10
So Long, London
Admittedly I hear a leak snippet of this one beforehand but I do love the production of this one. The intro is a bit jarring at first but it goes with the rest of the song well! Her voice sounds so fucking good here. The lyrics are ripping me apart. “All that youth for free” ouch ouch ouch ouch. This somehow sadder than Tolerate It???? Like they tried to soften the blow with the production but oh my god. 10/10
But Daddy, I Love Him
I’ve heard whisperings that there’s shade to the “SpeakUpNow” travesty that happened last May? Get them parasocial weirdos girl. Oh god yeah this is definitely in relation to Taylor Swift™️ and how people forget she’s an actual human fucking being. Honestly I love this and some of it reminds me of Fearless kind of?? But also girl is a little delulu here. Love the BRIDGE YES YES YES. big dictionary girl here. I feel like the last verse is more towards TK than matty but I could be wrong?? This is not a song I will reach for but it is really so so good. 9/10
Fresh Out the Slammer
The western twangy start? Interesting. Love her delivery and cadence here. Matty really wasn’t the only consistent guy on the roster huh? Good for you girl. Another song a little delulu but I forgive her. Another one I think the Gaylors are going to take and run with 🙄 this may be the first “filler” so far but it’s not really 7/10
Florida!!!
I’m so excited for this one personally. OH MY GOD THE CEREMONIALS INFLUENCE. FLORENCE!!!! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. Another hint at murder??? Oh she was PISSED. This song is going to make me get a speeding ticket. The BRIDGE!!!!!!!!!! The feeling of restlessness when you feel stuck I life and up and running to Florida, she’s just like me fr. 10/10 immaculate
Guilty as Sin?
Blue Nile? Oh this is about Matty. Loving the instrumental. This is such a “windows down cruising on the highway” song. The vibes are so good. Oh girl… you want him so bad. I love this one, it reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on it. Also the religious references in this one? Wow. THE FINAL CHORUS?? Jack Antonoff they could never make me hate you. 9/10
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
This is haunting. The lyrics are so dark but her delivery is almost smug? Excellent. “Whos afraid of little old me? You should be??” Again, a self aware queen. Also for some reason I’m getting Control by Halsey vibes?? She’s never beating the witchcraft allegations, sorry. She’s slowly loosing her mind over the course of this song and oh my god. “Sue you”????? Oh girl get them. This is one where I probably won’t reach for it but it is such a good good song holy fuck 9/10. Self written and self produced too?
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
I don’t know why people thought this is about Matty, this to me is so clearly about Joe I think. The outlaw imagery paired with the production is so interesting. The lyric change at the end? Love it. Overall this isn’t my fave? 6/10
Loml
Oh this one is going to hurt me isn’t it. It’s so clear that she really does value marriage and wanted that with her past partners, which makes Lavender Haze so heartbreaking in retrospect. The chorus is going to make me sob so thank you Taylor. Wait wait wait, “Mr. Steal Your Girl” ma’am???? Be serious. Well this is about Joe lol. I’m so glad she seems happier now because this was written from a place of deep hurt. 8/10
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
Holy fucking vibe change from the last song lol. The haters are going to hate this one but it is the classic ironic song that people will love to shit on without using any critical thinking skills. Thematically this is actually kind of genius because the lyrics are depressing and the rhyme is kind of elementary but slapping this beat behind it paints this picture of you know a pop star who has to go out and preform even though everything is falling apart. This stripped down would be devastating. 8/10
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
The inhaled breath to start oh my god we’re crying again. She’s implying he’s poor isn’t she? Oh my god. I do think this one is about Joe again? Stabbed me with my push pins??? Oh girl. Sank in stoned oblivion?? See I don’t think she’d make that comment about an addict who’s clean now but she’s given us other songs where it alludes to the fact that Joe smokes (YOYOK, paper rings, etc). She’s so angry here and it makes me so sad for her because I feel like it’s a feeling most women understand. This hurts so so so bad. 10/10.
The Alchemy
Yes lower register!! Ohhh this is a love song 🥹 also is this about TK? The team references?? I love this one. Another that I can see with windows down, cruising on a highway. Okay wait maybe Matty? That heroin line sounds like a joke he would make lol but everything else is so TK coded so idk. This scratches my brain in such a nice. 9/10
Clara Bow
This is definitely going to be in the same category of The Lucky One and Nothing New isn’t it? STEVIE NICKS SHOUTOUT OH MY GOD!!!! Oh this is bittersweet. Oh my god that last bit about TS with edge? How hard it must be to be this self aware and yet still have to sort of accept that fate. 8/10.
Okay that’s the end of the standard edition!!!

Nine people you'd like to know better
tagged by @yansurnummu thank you so so much!
3 ships
Lets goooooo, starting off with one that lives rent free in my head is Yera/Teldryn.
I forgot when but I didn't immediately get interested in Teldryn even after the Dragonborn DLC came out. It was a fic that had him as a side character that got me interested, then I started looking up other Ao3 fics with him in it and it's all I think about when daydreaming about Yera.
Yera by the time she gets to Solstheim has already gone through two world ending events and is super tired and ready to kick this Miraak character's ass and isn't with her friend Lydia at the moment so she needs to hire a mercenary to guide her around on account she is blind and uh oh. Good with a sword with a handsome voice? Basically got a crush on him second 1 and it's downhill from there.
Working on like an intro fic for the two of them but I can never seem to get it right but it'll get there one day.
Next is Yera/Miraak funnily enough, I am not alone in wanting that old book man. I just think that with Yera's incredibly strong personality and also probably kicking his ass while saving him would mesh well with him. I also have the thought that if Yera hung around Miraak long enough, he would convince her of taking the Rudy Throne on the base that they both are Dragon soul so they ought to rule everything.
But what if Yera had two hands, and she held hands with Teldryn and Miraak in the same house wouldn't that be wild haha... unless?
And my last ship is silly, but only because I recently re-watched Full Metal Alchemist but it's Miles/Olivier Armstrong. I love the Briggs portion of the show so much, I usually start there when I want a quick rewatch of the show. I just think they're neat, and people write some fun fics about them together so I'm having a lot of fun going through them and yeah.
First ship Had to be my oc/canon pairing Lexen/Riku from Kingdom Hearts. Lexen is my oldest most precious OC who has gone through some drastic changes in life that she is unrecognizable in the beginning and I'm almost embarrassed by the ship but I was like 14 and Riku was edgy and that's the kind of characters I liked so I could never exist haha
Last song 6.24 by Danger (Furi OST) I heard this song being used as a fight montage song and I had to find the original and welp I'm listening to a bunch of synth songs now
Currently reading Nothing at the moment, however my partner has the Elric of Melnibone series I got them for Christmas and they're done with them now, so it's my turn to read them!
Last film Me and my partner went to watch Godzilla Minus One and omfg that was so so scary a movie but also how do you have a monster film be also about survivors guild its so so good I highly recommend watching it as soon as you can!
Currently craving
We have so many noodles in the house right now but I was craving some instant noodles something fierce a few minutes ago. I opted to go with some pico de gallo I made as a before bed snack but the noodles... they call for me in my dreams
Tagging @icicleteeth @scalecallerpeak @khajiitclaws and whoever else wants to join in

🔸With YOU-th, TWICE's 13th Mini Album Discussion and Review
This blog post is formatted with...
An introduction that contains information of the With YOU-th mini album, a description of the rating system, and a warning for the readers.
The actual review of the album songs which includes both information of the songs and my personal opinions.
Each album track review is arranged as such: 𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️ Intro Text Body Text Music
A conclusion of my final thoughts of the album as a whole and its place in the entirety of TWICE's discography.
Short TL;DR section of the whole blog post with a total ranking of all the songs in the album.
Tumblr media
I am going to start my TWICE's discography reviews with their newest KR release, With You-th. On their official album-selling website (twiceshop.com), this new release is described as an album that "tells the members' tight sisterhood and unbreakable bond" and that it is "[providing] a glimpse into their radiant youth together" (source directly from twiceshop.com).
The album was released on February 23, 2014. It has a total of 6 tracks, with I GOT YOU being a pre-release and ONE SPARK as the title track. While I listened to I GOT YOU on release and enjoyed it, I didn't listen to ONE SPARK fully until this week (March 3, 2014 - March 9, 2014). My rating system is pretty simple, it goes from 1 to 10 (TWICE reference, get it). 1 being absolute crappy poopoo, 5 being mediocre (won't listen to again unfortunately), and 10 being perfection. Every point increase is HUGE, a 7/10 is a good song but not special... maybe I'll listen to it if my playlist has the song, or maybe I'll only listen to it today and move on tomorrow. Now an 8/10? You bet I'm coming back for seconds and thirds for this song! IMPORTANT!!! I want to remind everyone that the opinions are of my own, and everyone has different opinions. Music taste is subjective, you can enjoy what you like and I can enjoy mine. This is for fun and should not be taken seriously. Another reminder is that there is a TL;DR section at the end that summarizes everything with a total ranking of every song in the album.
Now, here are my first impressions:
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
I GOT YOU (pre-release): This is TWICE's third original English release. It's a pop song with heavy synth and disco elements (is it called synth-pop haha) with a total length of 2:53 minutes. The song is cute and easy to follow. The lyrics of the song are nice and can be seen both in a platonic and romantic way. My favourite part is the pre-chorus sung by Momo and Dahyun: "No, we'll never fall apart Even million miles apart We were lightning from the start And it keeps me going to know that" This song is safe, as always with English releases. However, if we consider all of TWICE's English releases, Moonlight Sunrise and The Feels are stronger in my opinion. This is a 7/10 for me if I'm just listening to it. The music video though... a 10/10 and one of my new favourites.
youtube
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
ONE SPARK (title track): As the title track of the album, the song mixes TWICE's new and more grown music identity with a catchy tune. It's a fast dance-pop song with lots of drum and bass. The song has a length of 3:04 and has a classic pop arrangement (intro, verses, pre-choruses, chorus, and bridge). I was surprised when I realized that Momo's part in the pre-chorus was the best part for me. The way Momo sang "Bring me the, bring me the spark in my veins. Give me the freedom, the freedom to chase..." gave me chills. Momo's raspy and unique voice added so much contrast to the more melodic voice of Jihyo, I think I might loop the song specifically for that. Overall this is a solid addition to TWICE's hefty discography, and I know that if the girlies go on tour again - ONE SPARK will be a hit for the audiences. For the rating, the song is a 7/10 or 8/10 depending on my mood. I CAN'T STOP ME and FANCY is still that girl if we're talking about songs with a more mature sound by TWICE. I will discuss the music video more in a new post that focuses specifically on it, but it was classic and absolutely stunning to watch. P.S. Honestly, there's a chance this title track might work its magic in my brain and force me to love it, I'll update you if it ever gets to me.
youtube
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
Rush: While I knew that the UK garage sound was starting to pop up in Kpop thanks to PinkPantheress influence (queen), I somehow didn't expect TWICE to make a version of it. Chaeyoung was the one to write the lyrics for the song, and she states that she was inspired by PinkPantheress (queen again omg). The song has obvious drum and bass with a Jersey club rhythm combined with soft synth elements. The song runs for a total of 2:36 minutes, which is perfect for catchy and straightforward songs. For a B-side, this is a strong song. It's fun and easy to listen to, and it was so catchy that it almost brainwashed me. TWICE's soft and feminine voice paired with the beats was like the perfect combo of a super sweet fruit with salt. Mina and Sana popped off so badly on this song, that I almost fell in love with them romantically. I also want to note the lyrics in this song are the cutest from the album. This song is an 8/10 or 9/10 depending on the mood. This song WILL be added to multiple Spotify playlists, I will be looping this song until I forget it due to amnesia caused by a car crash... a car crash caused by me looping this song in my future car.
youtube
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
NEW NEW: As the 4th track of the album, this song did not disappoint me personally. The song runs for 3:01 minutes, with heavy drum and bass and electro sounds. The beat drop in the song before the chorus hits reminds me of the house genre that hit the K-pop scene by storm during the late 2010s. This is the "brightest" sounding song in the album so far, it's very upbeat and happy. The chants in the song were added tastefully. Again, I have to praise Momo for her distinct voice. HER VOICE IS SO GOOD IN THIS SONG! This is also the first/last song with a distinct rap verse. Jeongyeon personally stated that this song reminds her of music they did at the start of their career and I can definitely hear it! The song is an 8/10, and I need people to add this song as a club or festival banger. I think if I listen to this song more, it'll slowly sneak up and become one of my new favourites. However, I think this song is one of those where you have to be into the genre to like.
youtube
𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
BLOOM: The 5th track of the album starts itself in an ultra-unique way and runs at a length of 3:23 minutes. This song gives a completely different vibe than any other song in the album. BLOOM lyrics were written by Jeongyeon and was considered as a B-side for Jihyo's solo debut mini album Zone. Considering the background of this track, this is the most mature-sounding track of the album. It's a pop track with influence from up-tempo R&B with deep synth and a fast-tempo drum and bass. This song made me think of tracks from MORE & MORE for some reason, as it is a bit more experimental for TWICE in my opinion. In conclusion, the song is a 7/10 for me. It's solid but I think I need more time to digest its sound. For now, this song is my least favourite from the album personally.
youtube
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
YOU GET ME: The 1st verse of the song made me suspicious at first, but the song progressed more... I fell in love! The track is a dance-pop with synths and a fun bassline. The song has a length of 2:32, and while I am not the biggest fan of 2-minute songs... this one didn't make me mad. The lyrics were written by Dahyun, and she says that this song is a sequel to I GOT YOU. The song is cute while maintaining a mature vibe. I have to say that MiSaMo and Tzuyu's voices were the greatest contributors to this song. Their voices alone helped this cute song maintain a mature vibe. The best part of the song has got to be the transition from the 1st verse to the 1st pre-chorus, and it is specifically that part. I felt my body jump up like a razor clam being dosed in salt, it was so beautiful. This is a 9/10 for me as it is right up my alley, and I think this is my favourite song from this album. It's easy to listen to with a danceable beat. Cute and short, but developed enough to not sound incomplete. Now to address the fact that the song is a sequel to I GOT YOU... the lyrics are stronger in this track and I can see how they connect to each other. My favourite lyrics are "Oh, when I'm with you, I'm the best of me". It's simple and strong.
youtube
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
Overall: This is a solid 8/10 mini album, there were no bad songs at all. In my opinion, it’s up there with Feel Special and BETWEEN 1&2 mini albums for their B-sides. The side tracks of this album were stronger than the main title track in my opinion, which isn't a bad thing! For the member that did the strongest this comeback... I think I have to give Momo the crown. She absolutely shined this comeback, and I have to say that her parts made the experience for this album! Of course... Nayeon too :) Furthermore, if we are discussing the album as a whole, excluding NEW NEW, it has a pretty consistent sound. I'll say only 3 songs (I GOT YOU, ONE SPARK, and YOU GET ME) told the messages of "being there for each other after everything" and "being happy with each other now". Personally, every song other that BLOOM gave a nod to the theme of "Youth" as well. I also want to note this is one of the best-named albums by TWICE, WITH YOUTH but can also be seen as WITH YOU... they ate I fear!
𓇢𓆸🦋〰˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚🏵️
TL;DR Section
It was good, below is a ranking of the songs (from favourite to least).
YOU GET ME ♡
RUSH/NEW NEW ♡
ONE SPARK
I GOT YOU
BLOOM
Also Momo stood out this comeback, along with Nayeonnie (no bias I promise... :3) If you read the TL;DR, heeey~ If you read everything, here's Nayeon being cute!

Honestly, while Michiru Yamane seems to be physically uncapable of composing a track that is less than great, I think I understood the reason why CoD has my favorite OST, even more than the highly popular (and also slappin’) SoTN
The tracks aren’t just well composed, and they don’t just have excellent instrumentation: I can picture perfectly Hector’s state of mind during the events.
Abandoned Castle isn’t just an “entrance” theme: usually entrance/first level themes are supposed to say “here’s your new badass protagonist, have fun!”, but this one sounds much more serious, the cold guitars and synth conveying Hector’s grief and determination to embark on his quest for revenge. The only other “character” themes that IMO convey the same level of emotions are An Empty Tome and Lament of Innocence.
Garibaldi Courtyard isn’t just a “cathedral” theme: the whole piece conveys awe at the place, but I also hear an unbearable sadness that I can’t even put into words. I can’t even connect it to the game, but it makes my heart swell and I am in love.
Forest of Jigramunt isn’t just a “forest” theme: the instruments paint a beautiful picture, of light shining through the foliage, but the intensity of the melody implies that Hector pays it no mind as he’s deadset on his vengeful mission, his anger tainting everything.
Cave of Jigramunt isn’t just a “cave” theme: while rather upbeat, the discordant chimes, deep choirs and strings manage to convey a “cursed” mood of a place you shouldn’t dwell in for too long. When you remember that this place hides a statue of the Evil God that gave Dracula his powers, it makes perfect sense.
Cordova Town isn’t just a “town” theme: the slow rhythm, the sound of the guitars, the thumping bass and the harshness of the synth (the same that plays in Abandoned Castle) don’t just fit the decrept look of the place, but also they make me imagine an exhausted Hector dragging his sword to the ground, only pushing forward because he has spotted Isaac in the distance.
Eneomaos Machine Tower isn’t just a “clock tower” theme: the piece starts with an elegant piano, but it gradually builds up to something more tense, until by the end of the loop the pressure of the journey is on Hector’s shoulders, who is literally forced to fight time. It’s also perhaps the only clock tower theme to feature a prominent clock sound, which helps the immersion. (special shout-out to the official rearrangement Narcisisstic Reflection; a better translation of the name could be “Recollection of Aestheticism”, and it fits how utterly beautiful and poignant it is)
Dracula’s Castle isn’t just a “final level” theme: after the harp intro, I keep picturing Hector throwing himself up the stairs, slashing all monsters without a second thought, heart racing because it’s all his fault, Dracula is back and it’s all his fault, Isaac played him like a fiddle, he can’t afford to make a single mistake now! (the fact that he sounds more guilt-ridden in the Japanese script makes me feel vindicated lol)
Insane Aristocracy isn’t just the theme of the fight against Isaac: it encapsulates his fury, violence and all-compassing madness, and the solo, that echoes the melody heard in the intro, barely gives more breathing room, to convey the tragedy of his situation. You could also choose to see it from Hector’s perspective, as he’s also enraged to fight his old friend, only to then realize “this is not him. This is not the Isaac that I knew. Something’s wrong. But I still must kill him”.
Legendary Belmont isn’t just the theme of the fight against Trevor: it’s the theme of Hector being petrified with fear as he realizes he’s locked in a room with the monster of a vampire hunter that slayed Lord Dracula, and wants him dead too. You can just feel the sheer panic and difference in power, thanks to the strings and the heavily distorted guitar.
Sarabande of Healing isn’t just a “shop” theme: it starts off as cozy and serene, because the place becomes like a little sanctuary for Hector, but then the celesta gives place to cellos, that you can choose to still see as cozy (I can see Hector resting in the chair as they play) or sorrowful, to paint Julia’s pain that she goes to great lengths to hide.
A Toccata in Blood Soaked Darkness isn’t just Dracula’s theme: it’s a seamless combination of Dracula’s imposing power and anger (the organs) and Hector’s determination to face him like a man this time (the drums), and the major chord midway through is a beacon of hope that Hector is now strong enough to defeat his old master. (side note, its older sibling Dark Night Toccata seems to go for the opposite approach: the organs fit Leon’s grief while the strings and drums fit Walter’s pompous, sadistic nature, and the piece is overall less hopeful. It’s interesting to compare the two, and LoI has a magnificent OST as well)
tl;dr i owe michiru yamane my whole life

listen normally this question (5. name an album you feel is perfect) would lead to me talking about Get Olde/Second Wind, razzmatazz, counterfeit arcade, litterally most crane wives albums or if were stretching the definition to include albums with only one or two songs i skip every time but are otherwise pretty nice we'd have alot. but you know what. yeah. the last life album is pretty cool.
so you know what. im going to go in order. what do i like about every song.
Light the Fire. ive never played castlevania but this is what id imagine itd sound like really short but a good intro. very nice and lovely gives the same impression of fucking around and finding out and coming across a shrine for the first time and going. oo whatll happen if i do THIS. similar feeling to coming across the first connie board. discovery of something very useful but is probably going to be more than you bargained for. only complaint is that its short and id love to hear a longer version but it works for what it is.
The Crown. i like the piano :] feels like a weird mix between a bossfight and a grand area where nothing spans and its just you alone with the scenery and somethings off. also noting abt the yt ver i like how the sky slowly changes colors and the sun sets. excellent touch. i almost didnt notice the change of song between this and the next one and thought it was one giant song and thought the switch was cool. the effect still stands if ur watching it back to back. overall its just a song w rlly good atmosphere
Divine intervention. repeat point about how it transitions from the previous song into this rlly well. like the weird rumbling noise in the back that kinda pitches up and down and dips in and out. like it alot. again another song that just has excellent vibes. also love the drums the drums were a nice touch. also i keep thinking theres SOME form of strings (again cant quite place it down. likely because its another synth but. the effects nice) overall rlly cool a nice lead into the next song. love the fadeout at the end (also i am not going to go over all the art but trust me i am noticing the cool transitions and changes in the artwork and i am going WWOOOOO THE FIRE WENT OUT YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)
Console. like the weird little dips it does the dweeeoooooop. that. very cool. also the whiny high pitches noise is a very good addition for like a really weird comparison alot of the songs, and this especially, reminds me of the one factory level background music in jsab. you know the one. also like the instrument. not sure what it is but i like its addition halfway through. very cool. very awesome.also im not sure if this was my device or not but i like the occasional stutter it does where. (looked up the effects name and its simply called an audio stutter) like that. i think it only happened once??? but it fits the song and it fits the character the song is for very nicely. console is :] one of my favorite songs off of this album which. unsuprisingly it is VERY hard to choose. you put your all into these songs and it is VERY apparent.
Call of the Void. This song feels... very short???? for some reason when its not. its not anything detracting from it its just a weird effect. kinda like on other decent sized songs (call of the voids about 3ish minutes from my count) that still feel too short.. i think it just comes down to the songs just really cool. I like the . it sounds like a reversed flute?? towards the middle but im not 100% sure. like everything here it could just be another synth. insert a fallout 4 refrence here. either way this song is REALLY cool i like it alot also the garbled speech noises. cool addition. im not sure if its meant to be saying anything or is just garbled speech noises but either way. VERY cool. also obligatory !!! woaw people !! live on the tv. amazing
.execute() I LIKE THE WEIRD CRUNCHY BIT AT THE START. it sounds like weird messed up footsteps i like it. the cymbols are really nice. like the weird im not even sure how to describe it it sounds like a pitched down pipe being repeatedly slammed against a wall for a melody. very nice very cool. also like the weird garbled ??? scream?? audio distortion?? something 1/3rd of the way through. gives it a nice touch. also again love the string soundalikes. maybe one day we can have actual strings but until then the synth string soundalikes are super cool sounding. like the funky crunching symbol like noises. remind me of clapping. love the melody. love the song. fights w console for favorite song.
Fell out of the world. love the piano and softer sound it has to it. also shoutout to the 'pacing' of this album. i noticed alot of the more actiony songs are samwhiched between softer songs and vice versa with a few exceptions (which i do think those exceptions serve to enhance album pacing. it is. important to me that songs in order on an album sound nice when played back to back. its about how you spread out your songs. if that makes any sense). its a nice touch i dont know how else to describe it. its very nice. now onto the song. this once again feels like. some abandoned area you just. wander through to take in the scenery. again like the string sound alikes. if i wasnt aquainted with the nnk soundtrack and someone came up to me and showed me this song and told me it was the song to some secret area in the game, i might believe them. it has that sort of grand feeling to it.
Godshard. somehow more calmer than the last one. but it just feels sad. this feels like the song you get if you end up accidentily getting the bad ending in a game. a tragedy of errors that got you to this point. now im not a tip top expert on what happened after i got you know. murdered in a hole. which gg cant wait to avenge myself s2. but this seems to fit the story as best i know it. it just. feels sad. a building left to rot and decay. thats the best way i can describe that song. melancholy. thats the word im lookign for. godshard is melancholy.
Terminal Velocity. in contrast to the last this one feels sinister. something is wrong here. the piano feels slightly out of tune and i think that works nicely. love the lower chords :] it just sounds really neat. actually. you know what the piano here reminds me of. those like. really REALLY old pianos that are out of tune due to age and their keys only go down when you press oon them with some force, and their keys are rounded off from use. the keys are starting to yellow and it has a weird echoy hum to it. if youve ever played a piano like that you know what i mean. really adds to the eerie atmosphere the song has going on. a lovely closing song to a really really cool album. you worked so hard on this and you can tell. and it PAYS OFF.
but uh yeah. the last life album was pretty good
Everyone go listen to @bintied 's newest album !!!

Overall thoughts: I love it. Way more chill than I thought it would be, this is gonna be perfect for sobbing in my room at, you guessed it, Midnight. It's beautiful, it has folklore/evermore lyrics and 1989/lover/reputation sounds. I can't wait to hyperfixate on this for the next few weeks lol.
