Trek friends, the Delta Flyers has started their DS9 rewatch with Terry Farrell and Armin Shimerman, Robbie Duncan McNeill and Garrett Wong.
I'm SO excited to hear Terry and Armin's thoughts, because they are both two of my absolute favourite actors in the Trek worlds.
Hint- for those like me who are deaf/HOH, run this on google with auto captions. It's not perfect, but it's good enough. Or, if you have the money, become a patron. I'm too poor, but it looks worth it.

continuing my romulan episode marathon into ds9 and dang the search is a good episode. obviously this episode sets the table for the whole rest of the series in many ways but it’s like watching the sun rise on avery brooks like here he is! the sisko!! he doesn’t have the goatee yet but he will go rogue with three of his buddies and one cardassian tailor of dubious moral character to defy the federation and blow a peace treaty and probably die because he has to protect bajor. that’s my guy!!!!

GUARD: Whoa, you guys can't come in here. BASHIR: We're just looking for someplace to sleep. GUARD: Well you're going to have to look someplace else. BASHIR: Let me guess. This building is full. GUARD: Sorry. BASHIR: Every building we go to, it's the same story. They can't all be full. SISKO: Don't be so sure. One of the main complaints against the Sanctuary Districts was overcrowding. It got to the point where they didn't care how many people were in here. They just wanted to keep them out of sight. BASHIR: And once they were out of sight, what then? I mean, look at this man. There's no need for that man to live like that. With the right medication, he could lead a full and normal life. SISKO: Maybe in our time. BASHIR: Not just in our time. There are any number of effective treatments for schizophrenia, even in this day and age. They could cure that man now, today, if they gave a damn. SISKO: It's not that they don't give a damn, Doctor. It's that they've given up. The social problems they face seem too enormous to deal with. BASHIR: That only makes things worse. Causing people to suffer because you hate them is terrible, but causing people to suffer because you have forgotten how to care? That's really hard to understand. SISKO: They'll remember. It'll take some time and it won't be easy, but eventually people in this century will remember how to care. BASHIR: But it makes you wonder, doesn't it? Are humans really any different than Cardassians or Romulans? If push comes to shove, if something disastrous happens to the Federation, if we are frightened enough, or desperate enough, how would we react? Would we stay true to our ideals or would we just stay up here, right back where we started? SISKO: I don't know. But as a Starfleet officer, it's my job to make sure we never have to find out.

Like seriously Sisko is such a good manly role model:
Has hobbies he loves and is passionate about and enjoys them for the sake of fun - like when he built and Co flew the early Bajoran warp spacecraft he wasn't looking to prove that they had warp capabilities he just wanted to have fun and fly the ship with his son and bond
Is respectful to other cultures and religions and explains to Jake that he might not beleive Bajoran beliefs but that it's wrong to degrade them for their beliefs or see them as 'primitive'. He is made reluctantly into the emissary to the prophets but doesn't use this position for money or power and seems uncomfortable with it and doesn't want to be treated like a deity or religious figure
Has an arc of acknowledging and recognising his greif over his wife's death and never "gets over it" even when he gets a new romantic interest he still very clearly loves his late wife and he TALKS about how greif effects him and tries to use his experience to help Worf when he's thinking of Quitting
Cares for and tries to help his crew he's basically station dad
Mentors Nog even though he's not sure at first about his motivations for joining starfleet he's fair on him and treats him well
Is willing to admit when he is wrong to his son about ferengi and to others he's always reflecting on his behaviour and words and is willing to learn and admit when he was wrong
Is a loving and caring father who bonds with his son and encourages him even though he takes a different path in life
He's a great host and makes awesome meals for people and (presumably) teaches his son how to cook and has specific meals he makes for types of occasions so much so that his son Jake can tell what's up based on what he's cooking
I'm sure there's more examples please feel free to add yours
