this is Maryse. everybody say "hi, Maryse!" she was made some time in the early-mid 2010s as part of a limited blank, nude resin BJD line sculpted by artist Marina Bychkova (her face was most recently painted by the incredible Cat, "maybeawerewolf" on IG)

but Maryse has. much more famous porcelain sisters. and they look like this:

any gems or precious metals you see up there are real. for reference. this woman is not just a doll artist, but a seamstress and jeweler Par Excellence in the bargain

Apologies for not updating the comic. I had been given some blows in my professional life that just hurt to even think about, and now I have to redirect what I thought was my calling.

I just need some luck as I have been getting beat down for the past 3 years, I'm beyond frustrated. I had lost the one person that I could talk to back in 2021, and it still hurts. I had been laid off of the one job that I truly loved since being hired in 2020; I'm beating myself up over it even though it was not my fault. Even trying to apply for jobs isn't what it used to be. It's scary.

I'm not stopping the fan-comic. This is my focus; but right now, I just want to know where my life is going.

Every time I see a reblog or message of my fan-comic, it lifts my spirits. I love reading every tag as they are just clever. Even getting my first fan art was amazing! You guys are so talented.

I may not feel like working on the comic right now, but I know you guys want more.

There will be more.

I wanna extend some sympathy to console players/backers of coral island because yeah it genuinely sucks. Not everyone has access to or can afford a computer to run the game, so the dev's offer for a steam key isn't the best resolution. It's frustrating for sure!

But at the same time (and emphasis on that these two statements can be true at the same time) I'm seeing a lot of people in the community going waaaay too hard on a small dev team that just lost their publisher.

Ofc I'm not an expert on this stuff, so I encourage you to do your own research into this, but here's the jist that I think a lot of people need to consider:

Humble handled the console ports (as is typical for publishers) and it seems like they haven't bothered to give Stairway the backend permissions. And until they can get another publisher (assuming that's the route they take) this team of 25 people is now responsible for that on top of development.

I think it's completely understandable that stairway games is scrambling right now on what to do.

Console players and backers, please extend a bit of sympathy and patience to the team as they figure things out. Because they are working on it.

There is no justification to jump the gun and call the team scammers or liars or other awful things when this is still developing news.

Based on stairway's positive track record of open communication and transparency (where NDAs allow it) I don't doubt they'll figure out a solution, we just need to be patient.

Actually thinking about how many people think magic users in Westeros are totally beyond the scope of being bound by human limitations or fears as evidenced by all the weird shit i see regarding Alys Rivers and like. Were we even reading the same books?

Bloodraven outright says he can't fix Bran's legs because it's "beyond his powers". The magic systems at play in westeros don't make you all powerful just like modern medicine and science don't make us all powerful here on earth. There are always things that fall outside the scope of a person's ability to help or protect.

What was that one post you made about how V4 and V5 didn't have enough side characters?

here. the general point being that interesting bit and side characters who feel like they have their own lives beyond the story are what makes a fictional world feel alive, and if you don’t have that it will often feel like nothing is happening and the narrative is just spinning wheels even when it isn’t, because it lacks verisimilitude.

if you took half the v5 scenes that take place in the house and moved them into a public location with 1-2 memorable bit characters per scene (think like, the blacksmith in 4.1 or the proprietor of the gas station yang stops at in v5), and then connected the interaction between the main cast and those bit characters to the narrative stakes (these are the people team rwby must protect, and these are people who can’t be allowed to overhear what’s going on), even if nothing else changed, i think you’d see a dramatic decline in the sentiment that the volume is slow paced. likewise v4, if the RNJR narrative hopped from town to town instead of dwelling on the journey through the wilderness.

it does come down largely to an issue of budget though, because obv increasing the complexity of a scene like that unfortunately gets very pricy in an animated story 😔

I GET IT PEOPLE DIDNT LIKE THE ELECTION ARC! QBBH WAS A ANNOYING ABOUT HIS SYSTEM! BUT HE WAS ANNOYING FOR GOOD REASON!! WE LIVE IN THE GOOD OL USA WE KNOW THE SYSTEM IS SHIT PLEASE!

i know people said it wasn't good for lore and that this system would cause more conflict but think of all the cool features that could be added to the qsmp that could /lead/ to cool lore! botaina has a whole new dimension! vinery could play in to dapper and aypierre lore! we could have the industrial age in the qsmp! with ranked choice voting the max amount of people will be happy and we can see creators use these mobs bc they wanted them!! and they'll have know what they were voting for with descriptions instead of just siding with whoever is the loudest!! obviously that will still happen a bit but less votes will be cast that way!

and i know it's not that deep and ultimately it's a fictional story and the plot will keep plotting regardless but hearing someone else wanting the same thing just makes me think of what we could have

anyways qtubbo is so based. i loved him from the jump but if he didn't win me over in purgatory he has won me over now.
