One morning, Jaskier awakens to the familiar sights of his childhood bedroom in Lettenhove, surrounded by his estranged parents and a mysterious man he's never met. They address him as Julian, not Jaskier, claiming he'd been unconscious for days after hitting his head.
To Jaskier's disbelief, they insist the stranger is his betrothed, and his memories of travels with Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are dismissed as mere dreams. Desperate for validation, Jaskier tries to cling to his past, but memories slip away, leaving him feeling lost.
Jaskier finds himself trapped in the Pankratz manor with his betrothed, who keeps offering him tea in an odd manner. He wonders if his partner is trying to change him into someone else, erasing the lively bard he once was and turning him into someone who is more reserved and meek.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Jaskier, his true family - Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer - are tirelessly searching for their missing bard.
