Just finished Fool’s Gold Sands and these two are great ^^

You know, when you think about it, just about everything about Jeff Goldblum being in Dark Dice is hilarious.

According to Travis Vengroff, he basically emailed Jeff Goldblum's people and was like "Hey, does Jeff wanna be on our horror D&D podcast?" and "people kept not saying no" (that's a direct quote). Like, Jeff was just like "why the hell not? I haven't done one of these before and it sounds fun."

And then there's a big deal made about it because, you know, it's Jeff freaking Goldblum playing D&D. That's catnip to so many people. There were clickbait articles. People discovered Dark Dice, and by extension Fool & Scholar, through this (me included, and now I'm nose deep in White Vault theorizing so look where that got me).

And then like three episodes in, his character is revealed to be a recurring shapeshifting villain (which, incidentally, implies that that particular villain once looked like Jeff Goldblum as an elf before he got warped into the thing it is now). He attacks the party's ranger and fucks off. Which, sure, it's Jeff Goldblum, they probably couldn't keep his character in the whole thing because they guy's super busy and wouldn't be able to be there for every session, right?

But he keeps turning up! They did a musical adaptation of the first season, which he wasn't even in, and they had him do the voice of that villain! He sings as an eldritch horror! It's great!

if I had a nickel for every time Hilda became teary eyed because a close family member was forced to chose between staying with her, or returning to live with their parents in the magical otherworld they're native to, and came THIS close to leaving her only to come around at the last minute, condemning themselves to potentially never see their parents again because the life they've built with Hilda is more important to them, their bond is unbreakable and their love eternal, and they'd move mountains to make her happy, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

since it seems I’m one of like 3 people that like minsc/jaheira, let me see if I can recruit more to my cause:

- while he was trapped in stone, jaheira visited him all the time, openly weeping and speaking to him

- even while under the tadpole’s control, minsc only listened to “jaheira”

- when minsc thought “jaheira” died, he was inconsolably angry

- jaheira was willing to risk EVERYTHING to get minsc back. nothing mattered to her more. she threatened the emperor - and the rest of your party for that matter - and screamed “help my friend!”

- when jaheira talked about how she had to leave him behind, she explained it was the logical thing to do…but she said she hated herself for it because minsc never would have left her, ever

- minsc referred to her as his wychlaran - a wise woman of rasheman, bonded to a berserker bodyguard for life. there is no higher title or deeper bond in all of rashemaar custom

- jaheira disagreed with this, to which he said “the title matters not. only this: when minsc does as minsc does, and charges in to make a mess, jaheira does as jaheira does, and saves us all anyway”

- minsc knows her children and they know him

- jaheira smiles the most around him

- they love each other
