Lloyd’s Movie-Perfect Surprise

The snow blew outside as the Ninja hung their holiday decorations. Lloyd was especially concentrated, and technically breaking the rules by using his powers but he was running out of time— at least that’s what he told himself. He began mumbling his frustrations as his energy infused hands twitched.

“You look like you’re about to shit yourself.”

Kai stood next to him, startling Lloyd. His powers vanished and his agitation rose.

“Kai! You messed me up! I’m trying to—“

The brothers looked up, seeing the now hung mistletoe. Being spooked must’ve put it into place.

“As per usual, my presence is everyone’s lucky charm. You’re welcome.” Kai bloated, proud from completing a task he had little part in. Lloyd was less than amused and rolled his eyes, “Whatever.”

Jay snickered loudly near the corner with Zane behind him untangling the lights wrapped around himself and Jay.

“What’s so funny?” Lloyd was at a loss, but Jay laughed at everything that crossed his path.

“Both of you are under the mistletoe!”

Lloyd finally understood what Jay was trying to imply, and he thought it ridiculous.

“It doesn’t count.”

“It does! Wouldn’t you say, Zane?” Jay said cheekily. Zane paused, scanning Lloyd and Kai, before he smirked devilishly.

“Of course it counts.”

Lloyd folded his arms, glaring at Zane before looking to Kai for reassurance— but much to his dismay Kai smiled and winked at him.

“No way! This is for one person and that’s not you—“

Kai leaped on the blonde, wrapping his arm around Lloyds neck, putting him into a choke hold. Lloyd struggled, trying to pry away from his brother. Jay and Zane stood there, watching them wrestle under the mistletoe.

“This is— for my boyfriend! Get— I’ll bite you!”

“Give your bro a smooch!”

“Ew!” Lloyd opened his mouth and placed his small fangs against Kai’s arm, silently threatening to bite him, but they both knew Lloyd wouldn’t follow through.

“Fine! Then I’ll have to just steal one.” Kai pulled Lloyds beanie off and gave him a big smooch on the forehead before letting go. Kai smiled, throwing Lloyds beanie in his face.

“You’re so lame.”

“But you love me.” Kai grabbed a box from the hallway, before entering the living room with the others.

Lloyd thought to chase them to stop Jay from telling everyone, but he let it go. He smiled instead, rubbing his forehead with his sleeve.

His smile faded as he gazed at the ceiling, the mistletoe was crooked. Lloyd could’ve left it, but he wanted his surprise to be nothing short of perfect, so he began to readjust it with his powers.

“I get the feeling you’re hiding from me.”

Lloyd jumped, startled again, and the mistletoe fell to the ground. Right in between him and Jorge. Lloyd froze, red as a tomato, watching Jorge stare at the mistletoe on the ground.

Jorge turned to Lloyd, and then glanced behind him. Jay’s voice echoed from the living room.

“Is this why—“

How embarrassing! Lloyd wasn’t going to let him hear that. He wrapped the mistletoe in an energy shield and rose it above Jorge, before leaping onto him and wrapping his legs around him.

“Don’t listen to that—“

Before Jorge could even react, Lloyd planted his lips on his boyfriend. Jorge’s eyes closed after the initial shock, and he held Lloyd in his arms.

“You do know you’re supposed to cover my ears, not my lips, right?”

It took a moment for Lloyd to realize what he’d done. His palms were sweaty and his heart raced. He was so focused on getting that perfect kiss from the holiday movies he went right for the lips.

“Uh- whoops?“

“But do it again— it might work this time.”

Lloyd smiled, he loved when Jorge played along. He wrapped his free arm around his lover’s neck. Gazing into his bright eyes and falling down to his lips. Lloyd kissed him again, and it was even better than the movies.

“Ew!” Kai gagged, as the other ninja peaked into the hallway.

Okay maybe not holiday movie perfect, but it was perfect for Lloyd.

Okay so I crafted one for Luke on a whim since he's so connected with animals all ready. We got

Toppy the Rattata,

Theo the Teddiursa,

a Ducklett,

a Chatot,

a Slurpuff,

and a Carbink! (Though Bunnelby, Buneary, or either Nidoran would also work)

(As a bonus, Layton's team includes an Unown, a Sigilyph, and a Galarian Weezing. Phoenix has a Talonflame, a Masquerain, a Sigilyph, and either a Dragonite or a Salamance. Just some sort of Dragon.) (Bonus bonus, Claire has a Chingling/Chimecho on her team.)

Apollo team is a lot harder a think for me. I am coming up with this on the fly okay here we go

Hisuian Arcanine,

a Litleo,

a Larvesta (or maybe even a Slither Wing?),

a Basculin (evolves into Basculegion, of course),

a Goomy (also Hisuian form),

and then maybe a Cacnea. Because prickly jokes.

And then Snufkin team can go one of several ways!! Either he has no traditional team (but there is a Celebi always following him around...), he has an entirely Fish team (Arrokuda, Veluza, Finneon, Bruxish, Magikarp, Barboach), OR he has the team I built for him in ScarVio

I take my tea strong with 2 sugars but for my morning drink it's just usually some juice because I have medication to take for my ADHD and it's a lot easier to take them with cold juice than hot tea lmao

I do think people can change, yes, it doesn't exempt them from any wrong they've done in the past but if they can see that what they've done is wrong and are willing to better themselves and try to make amends then I do believe people can change as long as it's not something too severe I guess?

For a comfort show I always adore watching The Real Ghostbusters cartoon as I'm a huge GB fan and I actually wore VHS tapes that I owned of the show out by watching them so much. I don't really have a comfort book but Pokémon is definitely my comfort game hands down.

Obscenely late hermitaday day #23 & 25! - Impulse & Tango

Was this meant to be a simple cel shaded drawing on the 30th? Yeah, yeah it was lmao but somehow the power of fire excels at overtaking the rendering capabilities.

But since it's late I'll use this as excuse to ramble below about well, the headcanons and the process down yonder. Also there's variations.

So! Let's talk about that haircut shall we? First off Tango's haircut is basically just me slapping my very neglected oc's haircut onto him lol. There's no function usage or any other lore about it, literally just I wanted to use that haircut more. But Miners and Crafters that's not all! The intensity of the flame actually has meaning believe it or not.

Since Tango in the headcanons is already a nether born blaze hybrid the redstone kinda didn't have an effect on him. This is because blazes produce glowstone which is a power source onto itself. He gets minor effects instead which is a mild (there's literally no other word) high, a intensified hair flame and a brighter eye night shine. Negative effects include mild joint & jaw pain, and a small localized headache behind the left eye.

I like to imagine that other blaze hybrids' hair flame aren't normally that intense, not white-hot heat but rather more red n orange hot similar to the flats. Mainly due to the fact that glowstone is not as powerful as redstone and it's also dependent on how strong a blaze is. Now imagine with me that blazes determine how strong each other are via the color they're emitting. Now remember the blaze boss Minecraft had a vote on to add or not to add? What if Tango is constantly mistaken as a high ranking blaze because of how intense his fire is and he doesn't get attacked a whole lot except for the few that want to challenge him. Meanwhile Tango is just highly infused with redstone like all the other redstoners and he doesn't know what's happening half time as seen by his terrified scream-laughs /hj

He's also semi modified with redstone for the pure purpose of comms just like the other redstoners minus mumbo. I also would've leaned into the steampunk aspect of this season but I figured I'd do a character sheet like etho for all of the redstoners and finalize the aspects on those.

Onto Impulse!

I like to imagine that Impulse was a regular human and over the course of redstone exposure he gained pointed ears and horns. For what reasons? I have no idea but redstone works in mysterious ways and mutates on whatever happens to be in their system. You may see that he has purple lines across his face but then red pupils, why is that? Well since he's cyperpunk themed this season he modified his redstone implants to be rgb. He can change everything else except his pupils because those are deeply affected by redstone and would require surgery to remove the build up of redstone. Will any of the redstoners ever actually get rid of it? No but you can beg all day.

You also might be wondering what's happening in their ears? Well those are the advanced comms that are actually used across all hermits except the ones who've opted out for glowstone variants. They kinda work like bluetooth except more hermit-magic way. I haven't had time to fully think of how it'd work down to the circuitry (that's my usual process for headcanons before I ship them out) but I'll post about it when I think of the full layout. Other design aspects on impulse are derived from his skin and the poster design by applestruda!

Process wise for this piece was kinda a rollercoaster heh. I had started this piece a while ago (can't remember the day on the dot) and then I got insanely busy during the last week of hermitaday. I had done sketch, refined sketch and flats in two days. Then events proceeded forth and we arrive on the 4th which I tried for an entire day to figure out how to render this piece. I then gave up and tried again the day after and pulled up references this round on Pinterest. Tango was surprisingly easy to paint with ref and went rather fast. I will admit the entire time I was rendering him I did say every minute or so "I love you man" because he was turning out so good. Halfway through I then realized I still had to render Impulse. That's when I pretty much ended that night because it was already 5 am working on Tango and demotivation was setting in fast. The next day I was able to continue with hesitancy on Impulse but I managed to keep on keeping on and in the early hours of today I finished up the piece. Where I'm now writing about it close to 2 pm in a restaurant. Man though it was kinda hard to make Impulse and Tango look like cohesive and as if they were painted together.
