sometimes i wish i was them, the girls in my pinterest boards, the girls at my school on those road trips with friends, the girls with the love stories people like me write poems about. and more often than not, that wishing becomes jealousy. it sickens me, that i'm jealous of them. i have everything i could ever want, do i not? ...do i not?

i saw this girl from my school post on instagram last week, she'd just had her sixteenth birthday party. an aesthetic affair, the likes of which are scattered throughout my pinterest. they swam and danced in the rain, drinking apple juice from cocktail glasses. i wasn't invited—of course i wasn't, we're not friends. her friends' posts about it dragged out for days on end, and of course, so did my jealousy.

it's stupid, really. her win is not my loss, i know that more than anything. it is engraved into my brain so that each time i feel jealous of her, i feel guilty for bringing her into my own personal inadequacy. why do we look to others to reflect on our own lives?

and i know that i am that girl for some people at school, and that knowledge just makes me sad. because why are we never satisfied? why do we always want what we can't have? the things we long for, they're the greatest things on earth, until we have them... and then we long for something else.

Jealous harbingers

Warning: yandere like tendencies or behaviors but not fully. Also ofc jealously and violence

Characters: Childe, Capitano, Dottore, Pantalone, Arlecchino, Columbina, Sandrone

Childe is definitely the worst when it comes to jealousy. He’s number 11 so he’s eager to rise up the ranks, but he also refuses to bring you around the other harbingers because he worries they’d use you to get to him. And it would work. Hook line and sinker. Even if its innocent. The only harbinger he’d let you around is Puncinella and that’s because the guy is like family to him so of course he doesn’t mind. But if he must he has you close 24/7. He cuts off his colleagues if they get too comfortable and is quick to show displays of affection as of means to dissuade anyone. He also will leave enough hickies to make you look like a dalmation

Capitano is actually very calm when jealous. For the simple fact that scenario is incredibly unlikely to happen. No man is stupid enough to flirt with his partner, especially when you’re consistently guarded and accompanied. Not even Dottore would risk his wrath. But if some idiot does decide to try they won’t last long. Like at all. He will just grab them by their skull and toss them like they’re a lingering piece of garbage. He will not leave hickies on you however because with his strength that could actually do serious damage and he just refuses to risk hurting for that. He will likely have you wear his insignia in some way on your outfit if you go out without him.

Dottore is worse but hes good at covering for it. Like Captiano he is less likely to let you be alone in public without him or underling. But he knows you’re a beautiful sight so you would catch a eye or too. You won’t know that the underlings avoid your gaze because the last few that lingered their gaze quickly became test subjects of some horrible experiments. He is also not stupid enough to show you off to the other harbingers. You’re likely in your own wing of the lab building in a comfortable environment with attendees far from where any colleague of his is allowed to go. Although he will probably get jealous of his clones. The younger segments are more neutral towards you but the older ones are more likely to try and hold you or kiss your hand while he’s not in the room. It’s quite a mess for him.

Pantalone is not like Dottore in that he will show off his prized jewel in the appropriate settings. They wear custom matching outfits meant to clearly indicate they are his, jewelry paralleling his own, with a hand on the waist at all times as he mostly dominates conversations with strangers or colleagues. He is proud that you are his. He makes it well known. In public he is usually not so touchy minus holding you. But if he notices the lingering gazes and jealous stares he gets he won’t hesitate to stoke those agitation as a way of showing dominance. For instance he may pull you into s dance in which he keeps you pressed so close to him. He may pull you in for a quick kiss or a long one depending on how mischievous he is feeling.

Arlecchino

You’ll need not to deal with such things. More likely than not you’ll be busy in the orphanage. The rare occasion she allows you to accompany her is for special events she thinks you would enjoy. Often times your shared children are also brought as body guards to you. So you won’t be left alone. If any would be suitor comes by they’ll swiftly redirect them and engage if they get violent. But if a harbinger were to try their luck…. Arlecchino will not hold her tongue nor keep up appearances as she pulls you from the conversation and kindly reminds said harbinger to keep their hands to themselves. Once you’re home safe and alone however her teeth with be in your neck making enough hickies to make you into a leopard.

Sandrone

You are her most prized possession by far. Beautiful puppets and such. She is seldom seen in public or in events. Often sending underlings in her stead. It helps she’s also not nearly as social able or diplomatic. But she is a very jealous lover. She hates the idea of anyone else having eyes on you. She may subtly influence you to stay by her side more and more. Not even the most arrogant harbinger would dare to challenge her.

Columbina

She is actually least likely to be jealous. She’s a odd woman. But if she didn’t think you would stay loyal then she wouldn’t have let you out of the house today anyways! Your attire is tailored and customized to match hers. Sometimes you dawn a veil as she thinks if she sees your pretty face too much she’ll loose all restraint and just get carried away with you. Truly a strange woman. Not even the most reckless of harbingers would challenge her.

Coryo's all charming wide smiles because he's enjoying being able to spend time with his s/o until a male waiter comes to their table. He only takes you to the most upscale places in the city that, even if he has to fight you tooth and nail the whole way there. He will vomit in your new Marc Jacobs tote bag if you ask him to get you fettucine alfredo from Domino's one more time.

He really wants to slap your ass as you walk through the door to your class when he notices that same guy looking over at you.

Coryo always gets his coffee from his fleet of coffee machines that comprise his specially made coffee bar (that he made for you because the first time he ever saw you was when you were getting coffee at the campus coffee shop that you work at). However, he never fails to stop by your work on your break (he knows your schedule by heart, but he still wants you to text him as soon as you're available).

One of your male coworkers prepares his order while he talks with you. He doesn't think he's imagining the way your colleague's teeth are grinding together and how his eyes narrow every time his eyes flick towards your boyfriend.

Coryo has the steadiest hands in the world, they never do anything he doesn't want them to. That doesn't stop him from blaming the hot coffee soaking your coworker's uniform on him being shaky.

"Oops! My nerves are shit, I guess. Do you need a few bucks to for your shirt?"

None of that was as bad as three months ago. You and your boyfriend don't share many classes together but the ones you do are hard to focus in.

Most of the seats were full and the only available ones were far apart from each other. Neither of you were pleased but you couldn't change it.

The boy next to you was a brunette that you guessed was on some kind of sports team due to his jersey that he hadn't changed out of. You didn't pay him any attention (you could feel the eyes burning holes into the side of your head) and leaned back as you listened to the lecture.

Halfway through the lecture, an arm was laid on the back on your chair with a yawn.

You could hear a pencil snapping in the near distance.

You shrugged the arm away and that only made the boy pop your personal space bubble to whisper in your ear, "Can I borrow a pencil?"

You shoved a spare one into his chest and turned your attention back to your professor.

The class went by with more ambiguous actions. You knew it was over when heavy footsteps were followed by a familiar hand wrapping around your forearm.

The drive to your apartment was a blur. Coryo's rings made impressions in your thigh as he ran several red lights. He told you that he didn't really care about that right now, his dad would take care of any ticket he'd get anyway.

♡Macaque would be possessive from the start. Wherever you go, if he isn't doing something super important, his eyes will always be on you. So, when he notices you starting to get close to someone else, he'll immediately take action. He takes no time to examine from afar. This new person is a threat.

♡He'll pop out of the shadows and be an absolute ass. Your little monkey boyfriend gets as close as possible to you and even closer, being touchy and taking control of the conversation. This person has to know you're taken. And not just taken by anybody, no. By him.

♡If they don't get the hint or you keep on chatting with them, he'll be absolutely pissed. He WILL shut this down. He'll probably grab your arm or wrap it around you, digging his claws threateningly into your skin. Not hard enough to do any real damage, but it's a clear warning he's getting irritated.

♡If you take this warning and finally give in, letting him drag you away, no one will get hurt. He'll probably make you cuddle him before apologizing about anything.

♡If you don't, however… well…

Someone's getting hurt. Not you, of course. Macaque would probably be grumpy and distant with you for a while, though. He'd just make a few threats to this person. Maybe rough them up a little when you're safe at home (aka his home).

Macaque buried his face into your shoulder, holding you close and clinging to you as you laid on the couch. He breathed in deeply, savoring your warmth and the scent you gave off. After a long moment of hesitation, he sighed.

You frowned, but the twinge of sympathy in your heart made you, too, sigh. You gave a playful, weak smile. "Okay… you'd better."

His eyes narrowed in a malicious glare. He knew exactly what to do in a situation like this.

Back at home, you yelled at him. He didn't care much. You always looked so cute when you were mad, anyway. He ignored your frustrations and fears, dragging you into bed and forcing you to lay under him for some (in his eyes) well deserved cuddling.

the fact that ranpo and aya saved the world without any abilities

the scene where izzy is talking to stede about the knives is such a good display of his character development. not only has he previously shown that he cares about the crew, and feels responsible for their safety; he actively stepped up instead of trying to kill himself again he saved that bullet to prevent ed from killing the whole crew, but he also acknowledges that he hurt ed (despite my disagreement with him that ed’s entire emotional state was caused by stede and izzy—thats a whole other can of worms regarding personal responsibility and mental illness and autonomy). I’m not sure if this is new character development for him, or if this was consistent from the start, and as we know, aspects of the previous season’s image of izzy will be somewhat divorced from how he usually behaves due to his emotional state. I didn’t particularly see him as a character who wouldn’t accept responsibility, but he has lied previously. not that it did him any good.

it seems entirely consistent to me that him lying initially about ed’s death (alongside the crew who initiated that lie) was due to his stated goal of wanting to avoid any more harm to the crew. He, at this point is only barely back from suicidality. I think the crew is holding him together quite a bit, and he wants to protect them as fiercely as he did edward.

i hope that we will get some flashbacks to him and the crew bonding, or his attitude shifting, but imo, the way he’s been shown to try to protect the crew, standing up to blackbeard directly and redirecting the attention to himself, shows he does really care.

I love that he isn’t and has never been a one-note, one-dimensional villain who selfishly only exists for himself and is actually a nuanced character with layers, things he is working on improving. None of them are “good guys”, really. because they’re people and contain multitudes. but the whole point of the story is about personal growth and escaping unhealthy dynamics and relationships and healing and how beneficial community is to all of that. I think the show is doing very well at portraying that and most people will see and understand the points being made.

As much as Jean hated to admit, she wasn’t exactly concocting innocent plans. She toyed with the idea if just demanding you two go home, or making up a lie about her. Either way she wouldn’t stand to see you so friendly with her any longer.

So late one night she woke you up early than planned and decided to cancel all plans and take over for the planning of the day on a whim. You went along with it just wanting to her to be happy. But really it was a ploy to keep you away from Navia’s presence. She took you out to explore the countryside assuring you that Navia is probably busy herself and that you could always see her tomorrow.

But when tomorrow comes suddenly you two have to cut your trip sort because she miscalculated the return time and you wouldn’t get home in time unless you left now. She rushes you through it using her stress to make you focus more on comforting her than saying goodbye to your friend. You only manage to write a letter thanking her before you can leave. But on the ride back home on the Aqua bus Jean can’t help but smile as you lay on her shoulder. She looks at your ring finger admiring the ring, she decides she could you one more shinier just incase anyone else gets any ideas.
