I'm so grateful for my therapist 💕🧿 she has saved my life on countless occasions. She stayed one hour extra when I was having a really rough night. She holds space for me and helps me on my journey to heal and love myself and she inspired me to become a clinical psychologist like her. 🥹🌻

So I've seen folks say that Jamie needs to go to therapy and do all of his therapy homework but the person who I can actually say getting assigned a bunch of like workbook homework and books to read is Roy.

Let me first say I genuinely believe everyone could benefit from some form of therapy.

Jamie, for sure. I mean, the poor guy has obviously been through trauma in his life. Plus the one therapy interaction we saw with him was him being excited to talk about himself so he'd obviously enjoy that aspect of it. I think he’d get his ass kicked by therapy (that must’ve been traumatizing - no, she loved it, oh you meant me?). The guy probably never considered anything he went through as trauma until Dr. Sharon was probably like, “Oh, sweetie”.

Roy, I agree would also be getting therapy homework. Roy has a lot of issues, obviously problems of anger and abandonment. He either holds something too close or pushes it away before it can him. My hc goes back to losing his grandfather. It's the first time he leaves home, and his grandfather dies. So whatever he loves isn't getting out of his sight. Also, I imagine the end of your football career would fuck with your head, and we saw some of it, but I'm sure there's much more related to that to process for him.

My psicologist teared up for me during our session because she said "Someone with a mind like yours must feel so lonely. Not ever feeling understood. You must have been so lonely.".

I felt a twinge in my chest because she is right: all the years of being called weird, quirky, strange, odd. The difficulty in finding someone that just GETS you. The people I have lost because I was too intense, felt too much or clinged too hard to that connection. The not trusting people. The masking. The constant need for validation. The overachivements. The solace found in art, literature, games or role plays that aligned with my mind. The fear to just BE.

But I could only smile and say "Yes."

It’s important to find joy where you can in hard times. Today for me that looked like spending an hour browsing a used bookstore and buying these lovely finds. Take time for yourself, away from your phone. You deserve some peace.
