Avelera's Dreamling Fic Status Update:

Keeping Sanctuary (subscribe for updates here) - Giving Sanctuary Sequel follows Dream and Hob from the events of the altered meeting in 1689 up to the modern era. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1689 meeting?) Current word count: ~7,000 words across several chapters. Realistic progress update: 1/10 complete total, Ch. 1 is about 1/5 complete.

Come live with me and be my love - Dream and Hob fall in love during the Regency Era when Dream loses a bet to Desire. Shenanigans ensue. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1789 meeting?) Ch. 16 is at 2,500 words, probably about 1/3 done. Current plan is to wrap up Part 1 in the next few chapters then create a part 2 which finishes out their "1 year of marriage" on a month by month basis instead of following them day to day like Part 1 done. Probably won't be a separate fic though, just a change of format.

This Rough Magic - My take on "Hob rescues Dream from Burgess" with a twist that Hob ends up on Burgess's radar himself when he picked up some occult magic skills in the hopes of contacting Dream after 1889 and apologizing. Now he has to pretend to be friends with Burgess in order to get them both out of there, because Burgess thinks Hob can help force Dream to give him immortality. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1889 meeting?) Ch. 9 is about 800 words in. Story is still very much in progress I just have a lot of WIPs, as you can see.

Joke's On You (I'm Into That) - The 1589 meeting goes very different when Hob proposes to Dream, who is so offended that he just can't let the matter go. A very angry, very horny competition kicks off between them. (Aka, what if they hooked up in 1589 when they were both at their absolute worst as people?) I have literally 40,000 words written for the rest of this fic. The problem is, there's big gaps in that first draft I have to fill in and scenes that need to be added. This might be my favorite WIP but it's also the hardest to write with all the smut scenes so it'll arrive whenever I can manage, I'm afraid.

Banana Daiquiris Ch. 2 - Comic-canon compliant (mostly) - Dream fakes his death to go on a vacation with Hob and Destruction. They end up in Tahiti. Destruction plays matchmaker. Hob doesn't know whether to thank Destruction or strangle him. Current word count 6,000 words. I've been playing around with adding on to this fic for ages. One of these days, I'll pull it all together.

Hob Amesia Fic - Dream and Hob are dating officially now in the 21st century when Hob gets hit with what seems to be a memory loss curse, shaving off 100 years of his life each day until Dream finds a cure. This effectively grants Dream a walk down memory lane as he is reacquainted with the Hob of each era and, in the process, learns how much longer Hob cared for him than Dream ever realized. Current word count: 35,000 words. Currently writing 1489 (1889-1589 are done) and I might re-write the opening. It genuinely kills me not to have this one posted lol.

"Dream Accidentally Cursed Hob with a Normal Life" Fic - Dream learns that from 1689 on, Hob's life has been safe. Too safe. Improbably safe. Nothing bad or extraordinary or even terribly special has happened to him since Dream began to consider Hob his friend. He knows this because during his imprisonment, Hob's life became exciting again and suddenly went back to normal the day Dream was freed. Hob is not convinced that Dream is the reason for this, Dream disagrees. They talk about it. And fight about it. And some things that they've probably needed to talk about for a long time finally get said. (aka, sometimes the author just needs to write their weird headcanon into a 20,000 word fic that's almost entirely dialogue). Current word count: 16,000 words. This one also kills me that it's not done yet.

You Found Me Ch. 2 - (Comic-inspired) Hob's girlfriend Audrey survives the car crash. They got married. Then, in 2021, they got divorced. The Hob Dream meets at the New Inn when he returns is newly-divorced, bitter, and angry, and not in a good headspace to reunite with the friend who ghosted him over thirty years before. -5,000 words left to post. One of the first one-shots I wrote for this fandom then abandoned. Never could quite find an end for it that didn't become a huge long fic but I think I finally cracked it.

"Fairy God Marlowe" - 1589 fixit fic where Hob and Kit Marlowe strike up a conversation while Dream and Shaxberd are talking. Hob and Marlowe talk about plays, and faith, and salvation, and queer love, and what it means to live forever. Hob gets a second chance at a first impression. Current word count: ~5,000 words. Sadly, it's all dialogue in script format. I'd need to convert it into prose to publish which would be a slog. So it's a bit shelved until I find the energy to do so. No, I will not post it in script format, I'm allergic to the thought.

I've got a few other concepts kicking around, but these are the ones that actually have (*does a quick calculation*) over 100,000 words written that I haven't had the chance to post yet?? And it's driving me insane????

ok i need to vent about a trope in video games (mostly rpgs and visual novels) that i really don’t like, and want to talk about why a lot of games fail at it and give a few examples of how it succeeds. however to do so im going to spoil a shitton of games. so if you plan on playing any of the social sim persona games, the xenoblade trilogy, sea of stars, 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky, chrono trigger, the great ace attorney, or danganronpa 2 and 3 (the anime not the game), do not read this post. i will be spoiling all of them.

so what’s up with characters dying But Not Actually so much?? it’s gotten to the point where whenever a main character dies, i’m almost certain that there’s going to be some funny business to justify bringing them back. it kind of drives me nuts, and i wanna talk about why this plot point fails in so many games (and also a few where it works in my opinion because it CAN work).

to start, the xenoblade games, specifically 1 and 3. i think fiora’s death in xenoblade 1 was my first exposure to this trope and honestly i think it’s done alright. there’s a LOT of foreshadowing about the nature of the face units in the early game, and having her be turned into one makes complete sense. also she’s not the only character who’s presumed dead that ends up in a face unit, so the concept feels more complete than just an excuse to bring back a main character. the main problem with fiora is more that her character pre-death is so much better than post-death, but that’s less to do with the resurrection and more just me disagreeing with the direction they take her character. overall this game gets a pass from me, not a bad use of the trope.

xenoblade 3 however i will not be so kind to. mio’s fakeout death fucking sucks and it ruined one of my favorite characters up to that point. they build up the fact that mio is dying all game, it’s a huge part of her character. the existentialism of it all was so compelling to me, i was excited to see where it was going to go. but the body swap with m during the prison sequence was so underwhelming it hurts. it is mildly foreshadowed in the fight against m, but it still felt like they sidestepped the conflict entirely because they didn’t have the guts to actually follow through on what they had set up. which, to be fair, this would be fine if they actually explored how she felt about living when she was supposed to die, but they don’t. this is pretty much the last major character moment for mio all game, and it was so disappointing to me. not a good use of the trope at all.

persona 3 (portable) and 4 use this trope too and it’s also pretty rough. shinjiro’s death is a big moment in persona 3, and saving him in portable feels super underdeveloped and feels like it was just used for fanservice at the end of the day. nanako’s death in persona 4 is almost insultingly underdeveloped too, it feels like it only happens because they needed to add extra tension during the climax of the game, when it would’ve worked perfectly fine if she was just severely injured in my opinion. having her die and come back just feels cheap and unearned.

persona 5 does it much better with akechi in my opinion but that’s also because him coming back is pretty much a mirage. the only reason he comes back in the third semester is because maruki thought him being back would be part of joker’s ideal reality, and once maruki is defeated akechi goes away too. it’s all pretty fantastic, and the way they explore akechi’s feelings about the whole situation is great too. of course, there is the moment at the ending where you seem him through the window but that’s left purposefully ambiguous and i choose to believe it’s just joker’s imagination lol.

chrono trigger is probably one of the oldest examples of this trope and it didn’t really bother me, but that’s mostly because i wasn’t super attached to crono in the first place cuz he doesn’t have much going for him in terms of characterization lol. i also think that because there are multiple endings including one where he doesn’t come back (and you really have to go out of your way to bring him back) makes it feel a bit less cheap? i don’t know, i don’t really have a strong opinion one way or the other for this case.

now sea of stars i’ve gone on record saying i adore, but i still don’t love how they handle garl’s resurrection. it feels almost identical to crono’s, and feels a bit too fanservicey for my liking especially since i thought garl’s death was so extremely well done. it’s cute, and i do love garl, but i prefer the regular ending where he doesn’t come back.

so… remember how all the characters in danganronpa 2 didn’t actually die? cuz they were in a simulation the whole time and it wasn’t a “you die in the game you die in real life” situation like they implied in the game? yeah that was weird. i don’t remember this bugging me a ton back in my danganronpa phase but like… the deaths in that game in particular were really well done for the series (let’s forget about chapter 3 for now) and having none of them matter in the end kind of sucks. it also doesn’t feel like that was the original vision since this reveal only happens in the danganronpa 3 anime and not in dr2, so it feels like it was probably done for fanservice more than anything.

these next two are ones i don’t think were too bad and that’s because they both happen and you kinda just know they’re not gone for good. kazuma from great ace attorney and snake from zero escape (999) both die so early and so suddenly after being set up to be seemingly important that you sort of just know they’re not gone for good, and if they were you’d probably be disappointed. also they both slap when they come back and their characters would probably feel incomplete without their reveal that they didn’t actually die. if you’re going to kill characters and bring them back, this is one of the better ways to do it in my opinion.

finally, this isn’t really a death but it still really bothered me. i really don’t like the ending of pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky’s final special episode. for years i thought that once grovyle and dusknoir returned to the future and you and your partner save the world, they’re gone. that’s how the game sets it up. i’ve thought that’s how it was for years since i didn’t play sky until last year. learning that no, they save the world and all the pokemon from the future are fine actually was so… it just felt wrong. i feel like they didn’t want a sequence that grim to end the episode in a game made for children, but i was like 9 when i beat explorers of time/darkness the first time and i understood the implications of what happened. learning that wasn’t actually the case now that i’m an adult bothered me and i wish they had stuck to their guns.

so what’s the common thread here? well, the times where it doesn’t work are usually because it feels like fanservice or like the story didn’t justify it well enough. it feels like you’re being coddled almost, like don’t worry your blorbo is fine!! they’re still alive!!! and i hate that so much. stick to your guns!!! if you don’t have a damn good reason to bring back characters after they supposedly die, don’t bring them back. it usually feels wrong and hollow. look, in real life, people die (i know big shocker), and there’s nothing you can do about it. i’ve had people very close to me die, and while i would do anything to bring them back, that’s just not how it works. i know games are supposed to be escapism where you suspend your disbelief, but i don’t usually feel happy when characters i love die and come back. it just feels like mildly condescending wish fulfillment. i just wish authors would be more thoughtful about this kind of thing.

It's a girl! Jane Eloise. We both call her our little princess a lot. Otherwise it's Jane.

2 How did you come up with their name?

I wanted something classic and nothing was hitting with Jean, then I suggested Jane and he thought it sounded like Jean and immediately liked it. I like longer syllables names with shorter ones and we both liked that Eloise is close to Eliza :)

3 What was their first word?

After thinking it was going to be dada, one day our pup Murphy came into the room and she clear as day said dog! Jean was heartbroken LOL

4 What is their favorite toy and / or activity?

Playing on her play pad with Murphy is her favorite activity. She coos at him and bats at the toys, and he is so protective over her and alerts us if she tries to roll off. Her favorite toy is a a little stuffed grey rabbit from her aunt Sasha.

5 What tv show / movie do they watch repeatedly?

She adores Snow White! It's the sweetest thing. Not even the witch scares her! We're kind of picky about shows so she goes old school with Sesame Street. We're not quite sick of either just yet.

6 What is their favorite baby food / meal?

She loves banana baby food and we can make that ourselves easily. She now also loves oatmeal. When we mix them together her face lights up at the taste.

7 What is their favorite bedtime story?

She loves when her daddy reads anything. She loves the sound of his voice. Goodnight Moon is probably the favorite though.

8 What finally gets them to sleep after crying all night?

Walking in place while holding her. It can be either of us but she goes to sleep faster for me. It's tiring at 3am but at least I get my exercise! We just ordered an automatic swing and hope that helps!

9 Who caves easier when they cry?

It's a toss up, we're both a little soft. Being our first child we kind of coddle her. I think Jean caves faster though, but not by much.

10 Who is the stricter parent?

Again, a toss up. I was a little more pushy about Jane bottle feeding when she was old enough, but Jean tries to stick to the schedule more. It depends.

11 What is your favorite activity to do as a family?

Walks in the park! Jane can be sleeping the whole time if it's a quiet morning or more alert in the evening before bed and we point out wildlife and she loves watching the squirrels and daddy Jean play around with pup Murphy.

12 Who was their first friend outside the household?

She has lots of friends now but technically her first play time was with @charlotteplsdosth and Reiners baby girl at their house where we put soft toys down and let them interact side by side. (you can have a totally different answer that's fine LOL)

Jean does a lot. It's really sweet actually. He knows my gag reflex is non existent so does more of those type things, while also complaining a bit haha.

We left her with uncle Levi and his wife and child. We knew they'd take good care of her and we could have an afternoon to ourselves but we kept checking our phones and it was difficult that first time. After a handful of times with them and then Jeans mom, we calmed down.

Um, yes. We already know we're having another girl! Lavinia Claire! And Jean is already telling me we're going to be trying for a boy at some point. No matter what I'm done after three though!

To 10 Games

Thanks so much for the tag @thevikingwoman! In no particular order and no particular criteria. Just games that have meant a lot to me for one reason or the other over the years.

1. Resident Evil 4

Though I love the remake and plan on replaying it soon, the original has to be on this list for not only being nostalgic, but just for being a big staple of my time in high school. I played this game way after it released, but it was such a fun escape when I needed it. Ada and Leon were the first couple I really shipped and their dynamics still appear in my writing today, even subtly. honestly I think it's also fair to say Ada also taught me how to flirt. lol.

2. Kingdom Hearts.

This was the first game I played where the story impacted me enough for me to cry at the end. Yes it’s not exactly great and it’s very cheesy and weird, but I feel the need to include it because this was the game that made me realize how impactful the medium of games could be in terms of storytelling.

3. Dragon Age

I’m sure you knew this would be on here! I’ve spoken so much about it, but let it suffice to say it got me back into writing and now I’m a much better writer because of the things I’ve learned and developed along the way! Will give the edge to Inquisition over Origins on this one, but I feel like a lot of people don't know how much I replayed origins, and in fact played it all the way back when it first came out.

4. Tomb Raider Anniversary

Been thinking about these games a lot recently. I do love the remakes but I have to say I’m partial to this Lara, of Legend and Anniversary variety. She likes adventures and history and she explores and goes to cool locations, and at a time in my life where I was just starting to realize how much travel means to me, I got to vicariously travel. I also think these games are a good blend of puzzle, exploration, and action.

5. Red Dead Redemption 2

This was the game that solidified my feelings that story telling in games not only rivals that of other mediums, but sometimes can even overtake it. Playing RDR2 feels like reading a long epic novel where the characters become your best friends by the end.

6. Last of Us

It would feel weird not to have this game on here because I truly think it is one of the best games that has ever been made. I just like to pretend the sequel doesn’t exist. Cough.

7. Assassins Creed 2

I love so many of these games—odyssey is definitely up there as well but I have to give this one to 2. I played it when I was 16 after coming home from Europe for the first time and enjoyed the hell out of running around Florence after I had been there. I did also have fun playing odyssey again after being in Greece. Couldn’t find the place I jumped from in Paros I was so sad.

8. Okami

This game is very much pure nostalgia. beautiful cell shaded animation and compelling use of Japanese mythology.

9. Mass Effect 2

I don't quite love ME as much as Dragon age due to my own preference for fantasy/medieval, but I love 2 for where it took the story/characters. Overall, ME is one of the few, if only, pieces of SciFi media I like.

10. Witcher 3

If you put a gun to my head and told me to name what I thought the best video game ever released was, I'd say Witcher 3. I have fond memories of playing this game while eating pizza in college. I also just love the animations for this game. In a time of "realism is the way" in video games, to me it's the more animated style that is much more timeless. (this is another reason I like Baldur's Gate right now)

1. Stalks her on her on her way home for weeks. He originally intended for her to be a quick snack. But something about the way that she walks intrigues him.

2. Maybe it's something about the way she stops to feed the homeless dog or how she doesn't seem to notice her surroundings and yet flinches when somebody walks past her.

3. He approaches her on a Friday night when she's at a bar with her friends. She comments on how he looks familiar but she can't place him. He laughs it away and talks about how it must have been in her dreams.

4. He convinces himself, he is just playing with her. Making for a more entertaining meal in the long run. Everyone likes dinner and a movie.

5. And then suddenly they're six dates in and the urge to bite her just isn't as strong. He finds himself listening to her talk about the most mundane things and being entertained.

6. They date for 6 months before she even finds out. He's a vampire. He very strategically makes it so she can never see him during daytime and she never puts two and two together because who the f*** believes in vampires. He tells her he has a job that goes from six to six and it's impossible for him to get away 6 days a week. And on the 7th day he has to do something with his family or whatever. It definitely helps that it is September when they meet and the days are getting shorter. But 6 months in the days are getting longer again and it's getting harder for him to come up with excuses to not come out in the daytime. So he just tells her.

7. She doesn't believe him. She doesn't get lost. Absolutely not taking any that b******* thinks it's a joke that he's come up with. So he bites her. Only a little bite, just a little nibble.

8. And she becomes obsessed with the feeling of being fed on. Sex becomes a lot more interesting. Now he is able to bite her and mark her and claim her as his.

9. Originally, he just has some kind of plan to keep her as a concubine, but the longer that together he realises that he could quite easily spend forever with her.

Going, going, going!

1. what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

i. The road trip around America I went on with some friends. We’d been there for 9 months on a University year abroad, and with one month left on our visas we decided to spend that time travelling with another couple of guys we’d met. It was all going fine until maybe a week or so from the end, where myself and one other girl were accused of not pulling our weight in helping plan activities or researching things to do - and, to my horror, I realised they were right. It was a big wake-up call, and the first of a few similar moments to transpire in the following years, but since then I’ve been much more conscious about doing my bit in group planning and tasks, and just generally offering to help and ease the load for people and be considerate of others.

ii. Playmobil. It may seem silly, but I vividly remember that some of my first forays into making stories was with my Playmobil figures as a young kid - big stories too, with some drama and a degree of danger involved. If I hadn’t had those sets, I don’t know what else I would have done that with, if at all, so that was a huge influence in my desire to tell stories as I grew up.

iii. Music. I come from a musical lineage (my parents met in the London Philarmonic choir and both played instruments themselves), and again growing up it was music that fuelled my imagination on long car journeys, helped me focus on homework and changed/fed my moods, both light and dark. There’s not a single day that goes by without music for me - I wake up to it, I often go to sleep to it, and even if I’m not actively listening to it I’m thinking about it. It’s broadened my knowledge of the world - both past and present - and encouraged me to explore and be open to new cultures and perspectives. I honestly can’t imagine my life without it.

7. what scares you the most and why?

The thought of losing my brother, either as a close bond or from this mortal coil. He’s my only sibling but I’m so much closer to him than I am to our parents, and having been through a phase where I thought I had irreparably broken our relationship (when we were much younger) I never want to feel that way again. We’re not the perfect brother-sister pairing by any stretch, but if he hated me or wasn’t there for me to just shoot the shit with I wouldn’t know what to do with that big of a hole in my life.

36. are you an open book or do you have walls up?

Erm well as you may guess from the above, deeper-than-anticipated answers, I think I’m probably an open book? Or more of one, at least, especially when it comes to my mood. My friends very easily pick up on when I’m not myself, even if I don’t give them any details. These days I’m more willing to talk if people offer to listen, though.

I have only engaged in long-term dating once, and one of the reasons I haven’t sought to pursue it again is because I’m not sure I have it in me to commit to someone on an equal basis. Chances are I do, and I’m fully aware I should not just take that one experience and build all my concepts of and approaches to dating on it, but it’s making me extremely reluctant to get back on it. Uhhhhhhh probably Home With You since it’s about a twenty year old dying of a degenerative disease but to be fair most of my work is angsty and picking an angstiest is likely up to interpretation and perspective. (In other words let me know which one you would call my saddest if you have an opinion!)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

See I don’t really do happy endings in much of a traditional sense, but I’m gonna say Perfect Disaster. They get their shit figured out in that one!

Not any that I recall!

Not this year I haven’t but generally yes I do!

Nope, haven’t touched crossovers in any sense really since I was twelve, they just never really were my jam.

Technically yes. However it was never posted anywhere and I would massively overhaul it if I ever did try to get it out publicly.

Let’s be honest, probably the other two parts of Tell Me Pretty Lies. My sister wants the Kuroo/Akaashi fic but it just was not working when I tried it and it’s been years now since I’ve written haikyuu.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Internal dialogue I think! Thought processes and poetics, I think there’s often nice bits of cadence and rhythm to my work!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot. I very rarely plot out fully and more often than not write without any plan at all, or only a vague outline of one. So anything requiring heavy lining up is often not there as much as I’d like. I’m a very go with the flow sort of person when it comes to the specifics in fics (which is funny because I can control everything in fic, but the only time I plan and plot consistently is in ttrpgs when I have to guess at what my friends will do)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If you do it well it’s a tool, if you do it badly you seem a fool. I use it on occasion, and I use it often in live play roleplaying, but time and place and reason.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I think it was Black Butler back on ye old Wattpad but my sister insists it was Inuyasha since my “original fiction” as a kid was heavily ripping off my favourite anime at the time of writing it.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Answered kinda above but honestly I’m really still so fond of When the Sun Goes Black, and All My Love/Nothing Ever Counts. I feel like my prose was just really very good in those!

3) Arguments headcanon:

I think their arguments often start off with something silly like Lin working too hard or Zek trying to do something nice that inadvertently goes awry. With them, unfortunately, their arguments can make mountains out of molehills, and given the current plot of Soul, Tenzin is a very strong contender in the calamity that's going to turn out of their relationship.

4) Playful/silly headcanon

Zek loves playing with Lin's hair. When she's lying in bed, half asleep, half planning her next day, Zek runs his fingers through her head, petting her slowly into slumber. Lin loves when he does this, but doesn't ever let him know how she tries to resist sleep just to enjoy his touch. He thinks her hair is soft, and he can't stop himself from loving her in his silly little way.

5) Night in headcanon

A night in typically involves cooking together, eating with some spunky jazz music playing in the background followed by dessert while listening to the probending match on the radio. They curl up together on the couch, Zek's fingers threading through her hair until she falls asleep in front of the warmth of the fireplace and the embrace of a firebender. He gives her a soft kiss on her cheek and whispers, "Bed?" and she simply hums in response as he carries her in, and together, they cuddle up under the sheets.

1) Positions/locations headcanon:

Zek absolutely loves holding Lin. His favorite position is sideways, with Lin's back against him so he has all the control in thrusting as well as drawing her closer and closer into his body. Lin likes to get on top of his lap for a ride while he's sitting with the newspaper or so. Naturally, the newspaper ends up on the floor, and Zek, on cloud nine.

Considering they only ever meet after their 50s, they aren't big on exciting locations as such. Between their bedroom, the couch, and the occasional passion-fueled rendezvous on the kitchen counter, they haven't quite had the need to look around for locations.

3) Favourite kinks/fantasies/toys:

Shibari? I'm only saying that because Zek's the captain of the ship and knows all the 1249082034802 different ways of tying a knot lmao. I think the use of bending may be a slightly prevalent feature of their sex life. Warm hands and metallic handcuffs make a good pairing. I'm not sure what kinda toys exist in the atla-verse during this time but I would say the equivalent of a vibrator may be invited to Lin and Zek's private parties.

5) Public play headcanon:

Oh, they're not into any kind of PDA. The last thing Lin wants is attention from the media for the wrong reasons or having her romantic life on full blast again so they keep a low profile. Zek respects this about her and makes sure to ensure privacy anytime they're heading out. With that being said, I doubt they engage in anything salacious in public, unless Lin has done a perimeter check using her seismic sense when the city is evacuated lol. Zek believes that they don't need that kinda excitement because their sex life is great as is, and would rather show her the best time in the privacy of their home than risk something out in the open.

7) Foreplay/turn-ons headcanon:

For Lin, massages are a huge turn-on. When Zek brings his warm hands on her shoulder, it's either going to relax her to sleep or have her fully ravage him in thanks. Zek likes to unravel her slowly: he's a gentleman like that, 'ladies first'. Kissing is a huge part of their foreplay since they're both great kissers and it quickly turns into a competition on who's going to have the other come undone with just their lips. Oral sex is also a huge plus. Zek loves giving more than receiving and Lin, well, Lin doesn't mind his preferences😉. Zek's scent is a huge turn-on for Lin and Lin's bare legs are a huge turn-on for Zek.

9) Who teases the other? Who’s more impatient? Who usually initiates?

Ugh this one's hard. I would say Zek's the one to initiate it with his "Oh honey, you look tired let me give you a little shoulder rub." He knows it's a hit or a miss, even though that's not always his intention. But then again, Lin's the one who turns her massage session into a sex and Zekou is just more than happy to comply. Oftentimes, Zek likes to tease her down there with his tongue, edging her along while she's looking for a release. In this circumstance, Zek's a tease and Lin's impatient, but when she's dressed up all sexy and pristine with buttons and bows and laces galore, Zek is wildly impatient and Lin enjoys watching her man all hot and bothered over lingerie.

Autumn's Journey chapter 3-8 summary

I couldn't finish a video playthrough, so here's the tea bc my video explanation has sucky audio and I encourage skipping past it lol. Chapter 9 will be played all the way through without commentary, but this is all the info for the chapters missed in between. Spoilers ofc.

After getting to Oliver, Auralee was rejected for being a knight bc of a stupid new rule that you need two teachers if you don't attend academy. She was given a second chance and was just boosted to being at the end of training. There was a cool quest montage (that you'll see in the clip vid!) It was a cool way to express the passage of time :)

Eventually, the dragons' secrets come out - Ilmari was NOT sent to supervise, he was a runaway; jealous because Kerr got sent to live amongst heavenkind against his will while Ilmari had been begging to do so to learn more for ages. He kept getting told he wasn't ready, much like Aura. Because of his important job as Knowledge Keeper, he is in massive trouble for leaving and is supposed to face severe consequences upon returning home.

Kerr is in the same boat because he was supposed to return from his punishment ages ago, but chose to stay so he could continue adventuring with Ilmari and Aura :') <3 Still, he's also in severe trouble but they're both stubborn and won't return until they've had their fill. We get a lot of really sweet friendship moments that are featured in the clips!!

Anyway, it turns out that it's good that they stuck around because when Auralee gets the assignment that should boost her to knighthood, we find that it's the same merchant company they escorted before and Ilmari suspects they're transporting dragon remains. In order to find out, Auralee takes the mission as a chance to see inside the box. Their plan ends with a huge fight that puts Auralee against the knights, but we do find out that dragon remains (which can't be disturbed or else the dragon's soul/form can't return to Ishtera) are being used for making magic weapons. Aura and Ilmari both get hurt during the fight, but all ends well and they manage to bury the stolen remains - even if it's too late for the return to Ishtera bit.

Obviously, Auralee is super shaken after this. She goes through it for a bit, but accepts that she'll never be a knight because 1) she betrayed and fought them 2) she doesn't even agree with their heartless rule following. SO, she tosses her badge and gives up on that dream after a good cry that ends with Kerr smacking her in the forehead lol. Both dragons assure her that she's always been a knight and she doesn't need the badge or title and they decide to return to Berri. Chapter 9 starts then.

1. I vid by using a lot of line-of-sight, meaning I find the beat I want the action to match on the audio line and line it up that way. I, of course, also watch the video/audio preview window but, for fine tuning the beat use, I rely on line-of-sight to get things hitting when I want it to. Hopefully. 🤞😣🤞😂

2. Once I finish my WIPs, I plan on taking a sabbatical from writing. I’m honestly not sure for how long, I’ll have to see how I feel when I get there. Right now, that means, over on the Halo side of the Field of WIPs, finishing “15 Minutes” and “Recreation” and, for the Flash, “The Price,” “Guardian Angel”, “Split” (temp name for final fic in the Ghost of Eobard Thawne series) and whatever I can come up with for the final Snowells Week for this year. 

3. I now have way more games in my Steam library than I’ll ever play in my life.

This is mostly because of how I like to play. I like to get to know a game, to become familiar and comfortable with it. This is why the Halo MCC was perfect for me: I can replay something like Reach a million times and either do exactly what I usually do and STILL have something unexpected happen or I can try out something totally new and different. Like, I had no idea for the longest time that you can save the Troop ‘hog on ONI: Sword Base, the one that drives across the way and gets blown up by the Wraiths as soon as the door opens when you pick up the target locator. But you can TOTALLY save it (with the Acrophobia skull and a plasma pistol 😉) and drive it all of the way through the rest of the mission with a full load of 3 marines and Kat along with you until you reach the elevator section! It will be on fire the entire time but its health is fine, it’s all just cosmetic. So I always save the Troop ‘hog now, unless I have a reason to need a Warthog with a turret on it. I love my Flamin’ Troop ‘hog! I named it Trooper because I’m original and unique. 😎👍

If I have to not save them, I always dramatically exclaim, “NOOOO, MAH BOYS!!!” when Trooper goes boom. 😭😭😭 We also pause to acknowledge Trooper’s destroyed shell when we return to the base later. 😥😉

Anyway, playing like this means I’ll replay one game over and over and, with long games, well... I can spend a LOT of time on them, rather than “one and done” playthroughs and move on to the next one. I just find this more fun than always learning something new. 🤷‍♀️

4. I wish I could take good photos of my action figures but I have a lack of decent light, a serious need for a tripod or something to steady my camera and I could definitely use some cool or interesting backdrop/dioramas. 😕

5. Speaking of action figures, my Master Chief in his Olaf bathrobe is one I’m always going to keep right next to me. I think of him as my Cozy Chief, lol.

8. I listen to a lot of ASMR and I highly recommend it if you have trouble sleeping, need something to listen to while you work or study that is “background noise-ish” or if you have anxiety. If you’ve tried before and didn’t like it or didn’t find it helpful, I also really recommend trying different types. There’s tapping, scratching, mic noises, nature sounds, no talking, whispering, fast, slow, roleplays... Honestly, it’s kinda endless at this point, lol! Headphones recommended as well to get the best effect, IMO. Oh and an ad blocker because there’s nothing worse than drifting to sleep at long last and then HERE, BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! blares you back awake. 😱🤬😉

9. This is the most recent Barbie I bought. She’s sooooo pretty and has a real, knitted sweater!

My mom and I started collecting Barbies in the last year of her life and it makes me feel closer to her, especially if I find something I know she would’ve liked or if I get a great deal on something. Descriptions, especially of emotions I'd say. Character reflections. And coming up with new ideas! I feel like I'm pretty good at coming up with interesting scenarios.

Officially that would be Undertale. (I wrote only two fics for it, and the first is deleted from the web because it made me cringe after a while.) Unofficially, I've been writing fix-it stories for Naruto when I was a teen…but mostly in my head.

The Starry Love 19,20 thoughts

Yetan calls herself "one in a million wife" and Greed (2nd soul shard) calls her "not worth a 2nd look". It's always a comedic moment when a women praises her own beauty and the men go, "I've seen better." (But then later when the man praises her for her beauty, the audience says, "Now you know.")

So cute! Yetan goes full fangirl mode over Greed and he hates it!

I really do think that Greed doesn't actually kill anybody. It's all a show and he just collects the cash, but I have no proof, yet.

And the plan is to lure the Void gang to the Prince's palace to keep away from Yetan and Greed? Did no one think of the consequences of this trap?

It is all fake! (The arm! ha) Greed just uses killing to make money. Greed is the complete opposite of Youqin: a liar, a fake, greedy, and a wimp. Chen Xingxu does a fantastic job of playing both.

Looks like Qingkui is finally coming around to recognizing Chaofeng's true character. I'm sad for her because the rose-colored glasses are coming off and he's not the prince she imagined.

So Chaofeng, Haichou and Sushui got caught and Chaofeng immediately knew it was Qingkui who betrayed them, because of...reasons. She did poison them and join the Soul Shard gang, but she was planning on returning because she is a good-hearted person. The old-fashioned defense: I never meant to harm anyone. Haichou then goes full "Traitor!" and Chaofeng falls into a pit of despair (figuratively). These weren't the consequences I was thinking of, but here they are regardless.

OoOoh! Running from killer hornets and these two keeping giving each other side-eye glances. Not just once but several times! Way to turn this situation around and make it romantic.

Gotta hand it to Yetan for not only hurting bad guys but getting money out of it too. And Greed just watches with a gaping jaw at her awesomeness. The girl loves to be the bad guy against bad guys.

Greed and Yetan's interactions are pure gold! (pun intended)

It makes so much sense for Greed to marry "Money". LOL!

Is anyone else unsurprised by how much effort Greed goes to make money? Not anymore. The due has dollar signs for pupils.

Finally, he's not just thinking about money. There's even angst! Greed misses Yetan! When she comes back, their interaction was adorable and they're going...(gasps with realization) shopping?!

Greed is going to pay willing for something?! (gasps and chokes) It's the bone flute! The parallels and the character growth all in one scene! I need a spoon to gobble this episode up!

My heart nearly exploded from the adorableness: It was all worth it. AWWWW!...and then Yetan thinks he regrets it.

I think we all know by now that Yetan has feelings for Youqin and this epic romance adventure she's on is to get him back and not just remove the Iridescent Eyes.

Hallo chrammy Colours (sorry if I got your name wrong) i have a question,

I recently got into your fanficana normal life. And because some of the chapters were postet for from another this made me wonder:

How do you keep track of your story? Do you right every chapter out in concept before you start writing? And did it ever happen to you, that you got an idea while writing a chapter, which you really liked and wanted to implement into the story? Would you change future, already planned chapters for it (under the condition it's not a massive plot change).

I was wondering bc your 12th chapter was my favorite one despite being posted later then the others. There's no shift in writing style either so I'm just curious. How do you manage that?

My my this is such an interesting question. Thank you!

About my writing process, I have my own steps system (note this doesn't apply to fics I co-wrote with other authors, where I use a different one, only those I wrote entirely myself). For me writing a fic usually goes like this:

Idea: I have an idea for a concept I find interesting or a scene that would be cool to do. Sometimes these ideas don't tie to anything, they're just small fun scenarios I make up for fun, but if I like them a lot, I will develop them into the next step.

Outline: Now I have a core concept or situation I want to write, so it's time to decide how the rest plays out. I think of a beginning, an ending, and a general line of events that happen in the middle. It's a written draft and not set in stone, but has the general feeling (romance, comedy, angst, etc.)

First Draft: I will start writing whatever scenes I'm more excited to do. I usually work on the first chapter too so it's easier to set the tone later. The big events should be set in the draft, mostly, but can still change if needed; all the small things can wait. If I don't know how to write a part I jump to another.

Second Draft: Now we have a bunch of little stories! It's time to tie them together with the boring parts. It's not as exciting to go over exposition, or have the characters move around, but it's necessary. It's also the step where I make sure everthing is coherent and it's not contradicting other parts of the story.

Usually at this point is when I will clean the first chapter and start posting. I usually haven't finished the fic when the first chapter is up, but roughly half of it if not more will be written or planned. Note the first chapter will first go through step 6 and 7 first.

Final Draft: I rewrite everything correctly, polish the details, cut the filler and in general focus on making the flow dynamic and interesting. At this point it's possible I had a better idea for a future scene and I change it, but once something is published that detail is FINAL and will stay until the end.

Beta: I ask someone (usually my boyfriend) to revise and correct the chapter, fix the grammar and tell me if something is confusing or they have noticed a mistake in the timeline. This is important because I'm NOT English so I make a lot of mistakes lol

When I posted chapter 1 of ANL, up to chapter 9 I think? Were already in first draft at the very least. Some scenes from the ending had been the first I wrote, but as I developed the story and had new ideas, they have been heavily altered from the first idea.

Currently ANL is written to second draft completely, and the only reason I'm not faster uploading is because I'm lazy making the proper rewrites and drawing the illustrations that come with it (sorry!). The ending of the story went through several changes but I think I'm happy with the current one - nonetheless I never discard the idea of implementing changes if needed.

To keep the tone and writing consistent, I read the chapters together with the prior one (from the same character) together to make sure the narration flows the same way. Even if I learned a way to do it better, I try not to make it too different - I think keeping the flow is more important.

Often I will go back and correct things on prior chapters, but only grammar or oddly-written sentences, never events.

I only played the first Paper Mario once, didn't finish it (got really far though), and it's been awhile -- but I remember him being a super fan of Mario and that's why he knows all of these things and can help you when you're lost. I just found his knowledge based on him being a hardcore Mario fanboy -- charming and adorable. I don't think I ever found him annoying. Also, when we were kicked off of Peach's Castle and lost and left with nothing -- him and his family found us and gave us hope, and Goombario decided to help us on our mission. Goombario is just, quality 👌🏻.

Goombella is an absolute queen, and I find her sassiness charming and amusing. But I remember whenever I was in a real bind and asked for her help, her hints didn't always make much sense, or didn't pertain to what I was needing help with. She's not much help in battle either, and if you've played through the game multiple times, she's not much use at all 😅 but I guess that goes for any of these characters if you've already played the game 😆

I was gonna put her helpfulness lower because I've play SPM too many times to count 😆 but thinking about it more -- she saves us from Bowser's Castle, starts us on our journey to save all dimensions, there's certain things that can only be revealed through her power, and she saved us from suffocating in space. Ok, you know what, she's the most helpful overall lol. Just when she seems to form a crush on Mario, idk. Idk how to feel about that. And when she quarrels with Luvbi and doesn't trust Squirps, it hurts me inside.

His laid back nature has charm to it, and his sassiness makes me crack a smile. When you first start the game and you don't ask him for help, I can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES he reminds you to ask him for help, so, not a fan of that. And it's a little annoying that he just makes us retrieve the paint stars cuz we're there, ok AND he made him self paper for us, I guess we do kinda owe him. But yeah, he's aight. Charming in his own way. Kinda stupid/kinda fun having a talking paint can.

Sorry everyone, I guess you all find her adorable. But she rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning! Ok, first. Origami is what we're fighting, and our number one ally IS origami?!? That didn't sit well with me from the beginning lol. Yes yes, we find out why later, and it's much better of a reason. But like, her innocence/naivity can seem cute to you guys, but I don't think our GUIDE should be innocent and naive, I'm just saying. Her being so, causes a lot of trouble. It's kinda like we are her babysitter ngl. Not knocking kids, I love spending time with little kids, but I don't think a little kid should be our guide tbh. But, she has her moments -- she gives us info on our main villain, and she turns into those crazy origami beasts, sorry, can't remember their names rn lol, that help us fight bosses. But yeah, those are my thoughts on Olivia.

Big smile, open stance, polite mannerisms in the sweetest of voices... He tries to be friendly generally, but if he's really TRYING, it gets laid on a little thick.

Potion of Naveen would come in a pear-shaped, green-glass bottle with a short neck and a simple cork stopper. A black ribbon is tied around the neck in a bow. The liquid inside smells and tastes strongly of blackberries, and it's milky white but thin like peach calpico lol. There is a pale green swirl inside. Drinking it gives you a d12 inspiration die.

I think this maybe meant to say "who" but I'm answering both. He would haunt his husband affectionately by like... leaving messages written in fogged glass or helping him find things he'd lost or singing to him... And he'd go prank all of his party members by hiding their stuff and making scary noises when they're trying to sleep(/trance).

His family. He's a wife guy. He also got out of a bad childhood situation that left him with a strong drive to live in general, and to enjoy that life, so I guess he's constantly pursuing happiness

It smells spicy and a little woody, and it tastes like cinnamon with an implacable sense of "green," like biting a leaf. If you drink it, you feel a brief contentment like being wrapped up in a bear hug.

Formerly a sense of duty, but he's about to become an enemy of the state, so... right now he's kind of just... exploring and thinking about where his new place in the world is going to be, lmao

His life has been too uneventful as of yet to really say. Uhh. Maybe Jack and the Beanstalk if the giant was a nice man. He's met giants. They were lovely!

Peaches. And cake. He would steal either of those off a companion's plate if they weren't looking.

A little pond that's only disturbed by raindrops or animals moving through it. Passive and reacting to its environment as its main form of change

Helpin' people. He adopted the party's triton sorcerer as his little brother whether or not said sorcerer was aware of it, so mainly he wakes up each day like "ok, gotta try and keep Aeos out of trouble today." (It never works, but they have fun)

Honestly I don't think Oleander talked too much? He's a quiet kind of guy. He doesn't swear habitually or have a favorite expletive, but he's not morally opposed to it.

Potion of Oleander would come in a tall, thin bottle with a long neck. The glass has a magenta-to-clear ombre from bottom to top. The liquid inside is a milky, pastel pink that smells like apricot with floral undertones and tastes subtly of peaches. Drinking it increases your speed, as well as your flight response. Despite the name, it's not toxic.

He just wants to do good in the world, lol. He doesn't side with people he thinks are morally corrupt, but that can be vague - his hard line is people who treat kids badly.

Leoven Silverfrond (half-elf sorcerer, divine soul with homebrew wild magic):

Not necessarily in his pockets, but he always keeps a healer’s kit on his person, as well as his journals (and a pen), an emergency dagger or two, some coin for just in case, and the spell components necessary to re-summon his familiar(s) if something happens to them. Most of his belongings stay in his own pack or the party’s bag of holding, though.

8. What is something they cannot resist?

Any food with honey in it, an earnest request from a person in need, certain pretty faces. Up until fairly recently he was also a doting big brother who gave his little sister everything she asked for, but he's had to step up and be disciplined and he hates it, lol

Rain stuck between blades of grass, cold mountain air, the cologne his hotshot airship captain wears

Journaling, hiking, reading, cooking, [redacted] His ability to walk it off isn't terrible. Luckily. He hasn't punched anyone yet...

He values them highly and he tries really, really hard to keep them. Sometimes there are circumstances that prevent that, but he doesn't just brush a promise off because he doesn't feel like keeping it.

The vague shape of goals that he needs to reach. He's still sort of figuring out how to reach those goals, but it's important to him that he does. He is also waking up every day to save his family from weird stuff that's going on, and he wants to help his friends, and his friend's family...

Hilariously, up until very recently, he didn’t; he wouldn’t even write curse words down in his journal, he just wrote the first letter followed by a long dash. But, a few weeks ago, he found out that his dear friend, Tennessee, and Tenn’s mother, were being spied on by an archmage, and he got so mad that the floodgate finally broke and now every other word out of his mouth is “fuck.” He had, like, 20 years of them all saved up. He’s really making up for lost time.

A Potion of Leoven would come in a heart-shaped bottle with a fancy stopper. The liquid inside would be dark blue, with a golden shimmer when shaken, and it would smell lightly floral. Drinking it makes you feel calm (but only for a few minutes)

Y'know, I think he's the only one of my characters who have actually thought about this? Since he has been keenly aware for the past eight months of his life that He Could Die At Any Moment. With that said, he also can't really afford to be picky about it... He really just hopes that his family can say goodbye in some way and that he's remembered fondly, but sometimes he doesn't think that'll happen.

Oh he has LOTTTTTS that he already won't forgive himself for lol. If she jokes around with you, she's probably comfortable with you. I don't think there's a big difference between her being especially comfortable or just... normal, but UNcomfortable Soleil talks a lot, frantically. She's also very physically affectionate with people she's comfy around <3

Y'know, honestly, I'm not 100% sure she has a sense of smell, but if she does, she likes the cold kind of stale air smell in caves. Also the smell of flowers

13. If they were a body of water, what would they be?

An abandoned lake underground, full of crumbling, long forgotten ruins

She just woke up from a 2500-ish year coma and she has NO idea what she's doing, really. I guess the idea of finding a purpose is keeping her going for now.

I don't know if she does? She tries to be polite, so probably not too often.

Potion of Soleil would come in a stout purple glass bottle with two small handles next to the neck. The liquid inside is transparent but incandescent, constantly changing colors. It is almost odorless but it smells very subtly floral if you concentrate hard enough, and it tastes like violets but in a subtle, La Croix way where maybe someone threw a violet through water. Drinking it gives you an odd, vague sense of nostalgia.

Hugs tbh, she loves them and thinks it's great that people invented them. She also really loves oranges; she kept peeling them and giving slices to the party as a form of affection.
