one thing that i'm seeing as part of twitok is that part of the reason behind bella's actions and demeanor in n.ew m.oon is because not only of her mental health taking a dive, but also because like e.dward says — the vampires are the perfect predator. everything about them draws you in, and to expand on that, in my canon they have pheromones that lure their prey in. it's less strong in the 'vegetarian' vampires, since their powers and their whole being is less strong than those who feed on human blood, but it acts all the same.

the time that bella spends with edward, the time we get from her pov that she can't stay away from him, it's not only because she's falling in deep into this world of the supernatural, but especially because of these pheromones acting as a drug. when edward leaves, she goes off that addictiveness cold turkey, which leads to her months on end of basically being comatose, waiting for him to come back. she very slowly starts to get past the withdrawal and symptoms of it, and it's really the time that she spends with jacob that helps her detox.

but even so, those times that she rides the motorcycles, she gets on a bike with some random guy in port angeles, dives off a cliff, those are all times that she's chasing that rush of adrenaline her body craves from being in a constant state of near death by being around the vampires.
