The Flower Prince: A New Mission
Prompt- At first, he felt prideful of the praise his teammate [Sakura] was getting from the Prince. But the moment he saw the blush on her face and the arm around her waist, pride was no longer what he was feeling.

Although Kakashi may come off as indifferent to his team's dynamic,  he did pay attention to them. Which was why he chose a simple escort mission. He had noticed the slight tension between Naruto and Sasuke, hell anyone would have noticed by the way they glared daggers into each other and how Sakura always had to be near to numb the awkwardness. Kakashi had hoped that this mission would reignite even a semblance of the teamwork they once had.
Naruto and Sakura stood talking about their mornings and whatever else came to mind. Sasuke stood to Sakura’s left, looking up at the morning sky as it finally brightened. Pink and orange fighting for dominance over the blue night sky.
“Sasuke-kun?” Kakashi noted how instantaneously the boy seemed to turn to face the pink-haired kunoichi. He wasn’t shocked though- Sakura had a warm innocence to her that made the boys on her team fond and protective of her, including himself. It was something none of them had felt before due to the cards they were dealt. Sasuke had warmed up to Sakura the most, although the boy would never admit nor show it; assuming he had taken notice himself.
“Hn.” came Sasuke’s typical response.
“You’re always the first one to arrive… why’s that?” the hesitance in her question was obvious.
Shaking his head he simply stated ‘I’m used to it’ before staring back ahead. Sakura nodded in understanding. It wasn’t a secret that Sasuke had nightmares on occasion; they had experienced it firsthand on their first overnight mission. Poor kid probably didn’t get much sleep.
“Dam, that stupid flower prince is late.” scoffed Naruto, “Even Kakashi is here before him, that says a lot!” all three genin turned to glare at their sensei. Kakashi chuckled and looked behind them at the figure that approached.
“Looks like the Prince is here.” pointing behind them they all turned to look at the boy who seemed no older than them.
Sasuke noted that the boy had dark brown curls and complimenting hazel eyes- though he wasn’t dressed as a Prince. He wore a sleeveless pale blue top with a black unzipped jacket, that didn’t seem to be doing much as it hung off his shoulders, and dark wide-legged pants.
“Sorry, I’m late. I had to stop by to visit family before I left.” the prince bowed. Returning the gesture team 7 accepted the apology, Except for Naruto who had a few insults conjuring in his head while they waited for his arrival.
“You think sorry is gonna cut it?! We’ve been waiting for two hours for you!! I even skipped breakfast to be here early.” Naruto complained, pointing an accusatory finger at the poor guy. About to speak again and try out some of his ever-so-creative insults, Sakura cut him off.
“Naruto! That’s no way to speak to a prince!” Sakura pulled Naruto’s ear as she lectured him about manners. Sakura had seemed to be nicer to Naruto since he saved her from Gaara, she normally would have punched him by now.
Sasuke’s expression softened as he looked at his teammate's antics before he turned back to the prince and questioned him, he couldn’t believe a Prince would be dressed and act so… un-prince- like. “What family were you visiting?” his monotone voice came, stopping Sakura and Naruto’s arguing.
Before the prince could respond Kakashi interjected, “The Yamanaka right? You’re a part of the clan, no?” at this, the Prince brightened up.
“That is correct sir, my name is Yamanaka Daiki. I am from the branch of the family with no real ninjas, which is embarrassing-” Daiki blushed scratching the back of his neck, ” but we try to serve our village as their leaders.”
“You’re related to that Ino-pig?!” Sakura practically screeched.
“Ah, you must be Sakura Haruno. I assumed such based on your hair, Ino told me about you guys.” Daiki stated as he smiled at Sakura.
“What did she say?” Both Sakura and Naruto asked at the same time, Sasuke himself also seemed curious about what Ino had to say about himself and his teammates, not that he cared much about her opinion- she always irritated him.
“He can tell us on the way.” Kakashi ordered, “We should get going.”
They formed a line, not something they would normally do on a mission, but, they were close to the village, so, not much trouble would likely arise. Sakura and Sasuke stood to the right of Daiki and Naruto to the left.
With that, they set off on their mission, Sasuke and Sakura naturally falling into pace with each other, something they seemed to do often, Kakashi noted.
“What did she say about me?” Naruto piped up.
“Naruto right?” the boy nodded, “Well… she called you annoying. But she said that you were a good ninja. She told me that she admires your bravery, although quite stupid at times. I hear that you managed to beat that Hyuga guy?” Kakashi, who was walking in front of them, allowed a smile to form as he read his book. It was good to know that his [Naruto’s] comrades were starting to recognize him as a capable ninja.
“You bet I did! I wasn’t going to let that jerk win after what he did to Hinata-chan.” Naruto yelled.
“Stop screaming dobe. He doesn’t need to hear your annoying voice get any louder.” Sasuke gave him a condescending look, knowing that it would rile up the blonde. Naruto was about to fire back an insult but stopped as Daiki spoke again.
“Uchiha Sasuke. You seem to have quite an effect on women. Ino went on about how ‘cute’ and ‘handsome’ you are. She rambled about how you were such a strong ninja and how she was going to be your future wife.” Daiki let out a small chuckle at the memory.
Sakura couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the expected description of Sasuke from Ino. Although, she couldn’t argue much as she probably would have said something similar a few months ago.
“Ino said that you were a mysterious guy; she likes you, I guess? You should have seen how flustered and blushy she got when talking about you” Sasuke let out an unamused huff. “But she wasn’t wrong on some of that, you do seem to be strong. You’re an Uchiha, my people have heard plenty of the Uchiaha’s strength.”
Turning to Sasuke, Sakura gave him a smile signifying that she agreed with Daiki’s statement. Meeting her gaze Sasuke stared at her blankly before looking straight ahead once more.
“What did she say about Sakura-chan?” asked Naruto, he was genuinely curious as he knew those two girls had a past.
“Sakura…” his voice trailed off as he let out a sigh, “I don’t want to say.”
“Why not?” Naruto questioned.
“I wouldn’t want to offend Sakura-chan.”
“Daiki-san, please? I need-” Sakura caught herself before continuing,” It’s not like I care what she thinks but, I’m curious about what she said.” Sakura stared down at her feet. Glancing behind him, Kakashi noticed how the Prince’s gaze lingered on Sakura for a moment too long.
“Fine, as you insist.” Sakura's head shot up as she tried her best to look indifferent. “She told me about how you guys were ‘rivals’ and how you had distinct pink hair. Something about how you were weak and useless if I remember clearly?” Glancing to his right Daiki looked at Sakura’s hair, it was a nice shade of pink but it did look like it was cut unprofessionally.
“Ah- I see.” her voice came just above a whisper. Sakura’s usually pristine posture had slumped.
“But, she said that she thinks of you as a sister. She said that you also impressed her, like when you cut your hair and broke free from her jutsu...”
“You broke from her jutsu?” Sasuke asked. This was the first time he had heard of this.
Sakura carefully nodded, “Yeah.”
“You should have seen her teme- they tied, but Sakura-chan should have won. She looked so cool!” Naruto gloated for her.
She didn’t know why but she suddenly felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her as all eyes seemed to have fallen on her. She rushed ahead of the boys and walked beside Kakashi, who gave her a pat on the head to comfort the embarrassed preteen before continuing to read his interesting book. Sasuke felt some sort of pride overcome him at what he just learned. To his knowledge it was extremely difficult, if not impossible, to break from the mind-transfer jutsu, especially for a genin.
“Sakura-chan is quite impressive,” Daiki said to no one in particular.
Naruto nodded, “Yeah she is! She’s been improving a ton recently, right Sasuke-teme?”
Sasuke subconsciously nodded in agreement. He had noticed a drastic change in the girl after the forest of death. On more than one occasion, Sasuke had come across Sakura training on their off days.

ah, yes, the wind in your hair while you rest your hands on the bounty railing. you were spacing out until nya broke the silence, "oh, they should be back now.." you look towards nya and master wu's direction, realizing who she's talking about.
"oh, i fear something terrible has happened to them." master wu said as he turned to you and lloyd "[reader], lloyd," before he finished, lloyd gasped before quickly switching his comic book to a lesson book and you straightened up your back. "you two are in charge of the bounty while nya and i have a look around town." you two look at each other then look at master wu to answer "yup, yeah, okay, sure." is what came out of each other's mouth.
as master wu and nya started to walk away, lloyd pulls out his friz donogan comic book "okay, fritz donogan, i guess its just you, me, [reader], and the imperial sludge" you look towards him and ruffle his hair "you're so adorable, you know that?" you chuckled as lloyd furrowed his eyebrows and pouted in annoyance.
after a few hours, you two were hanging out playing video games, a phone rang and you two looked at each other with a "you do it" expression. after a few seconds of being tired of the sound of the phone ringing, you picked it up and put it on speaker so that the two of you could hear.
"hellooo-? destiny's bounty, [reader] speaki-"
"[reader]!? it's jay!! can you bring sensei here?"
oh, cool its one of the people that master wu and nya are supposed to find. you and lloyd looked at each other with shock and curiosity.
"uhm.. sensei and nya are actually trying to find.. you guys. where are you guys anyways? what are you doing?"
lloyd replied while still playing with the console.
"apparently, you need parental permission to take the bus and we can't seem to get out of the city!"
jay groaned through the phone.
"uhm.. excuse me?"
you said as you try to register what he just said.
"never mind.. its a bit complicated, just meet us at buddy's pizza in, like, ten minutes. oh, and bring our weapons!"
jay said as he hung up the phone.
"weapons?"
you and lloyd said in sync, lloyd falling off his chair at the same time. "but.. we have to look after the bounty?" lloyd look towards you, waiting for your answer "we need to get to them! what if they're in danger!?" you said as you went to get the weapons "you're worrying like a parent again, [reader]" lloyd said, following you from behind.
you two stand in front of the pizza place, looking in disbelief and curiosity, you two went in.
looking around to find the ninja, you thought that they would be at the counter. on the way there you two heard someone whispering to the two of you.
"psstt.. [reader], lloyd!" you guys turned around and saw four kids sitting together.
"beat it, brat. we're on a mission." lloyd said as he tried to turn around and look for the others, until you looked at lloyd while crossing your arms. "lloyd, apologize to that young man right n-" "no! guys, its kai!"
your guys' jaws were on the floor. you guys look again and see that.. it is them! seeing that, you two gasped and lloyd dropped the weapons on the table.
"hey.. our weapo-" "woah! what happened!? you're! uh.. uh.. small!!" lloyd shouted, cutting you off and making other people look towards us. "keep it down. we're trying to lay low." kai whispered
"your father's mega weapon not only turned us into kids, but unleashed a creature whose sole purpose is to hunt down ninja." kai continued to talk, "typical garmadon!" cole said.
"now, everytime we try to tell someone, they won't believe us.. cause we're kids!" jay said as you pick up their weapons. after hearing what jay said, lloyd laughed. "lloyd, why are you laughing? your brothers are in danger, you know?" you scolded and they all stopped to look at you with a surprised look on their face.
"brothers..?" zane said as he tilted his head, "come on! you guys just act like brothers together!" you said as you hugged them and ruffled all their hair. "hey! let go!" all of the kids, except zane and cole, say as they struggle to get out of your embrace.
"haha! i thought today i was gonna babysit one kid, guess fate had something up her sleeve!" you exclaimed as you let them go, "argh! let's just get this over with!" jay huffed and crossed his arms.
"i'm gonna be a big brother.." you muttered under your breath "we can hear you!" they all said in sync, sounding quite annoyed.
this is the best day of my life!!

𑄽୧ㅤ ❛  when you finally see the love of your life after 7 years, why does the world want to rip you two away from each other? ❜ ㅤ♡
Tumblr media
to say the two of you hadn't hung out in a while was an understatement ; it'd been almost 7 years since the two of you had last seen each other. 7 years since the last time you two were able to appreciate the other's warm embrace, 7 years since you made that promise. the promise to never leave each other's side. oh, if only your family wasn't so old fashioned. maybe then he'd have had the chance to tell you about his feelings, maybe then he'd been able to explain to you how much you meant to him. and now, when you're both finally reunited, finally able to hold each other once again, its snatched from you once more.
of if you'd had known that he'd be taken from you once again, you would have never agreed to the mission. never agreed to your beloved being turned into a ghost.
it pained you to see the sorrowful and depressed state he was in. how he locked himself into his room. how he refused to (try) and eat the meals you'd prepare for him. you tried your best to comfort him in whatever way you possibly could, but why would it matter when he can't even feel you anymore? he can't feel that tingling sensation when your hand would brush up against his, that feeling when you'd caress his cheek whenever he felt down, that sensation when you'd run your fingers through his soft, jet black locks.
but he knew, he knew he had to try. he had to try for you.
and so weeks and weeks of training went by, training so that he could finally hold you again, so he could appreciate your embrace once more. oh, how long those few weeks felt to him, but all that suffering was for you, which made it all worth it. after about a month, he'd finally been able to master touching living beings, which meant he'd finally get the chance to confess those feelings he'd been locking away for years. cole had decided to propose on a holiday celebrated once every year in ninjago; the day of the departed.
he had it all planned out. he'd confess to you after you both released your lanterns, both of you laying on his dragon, watching the stars. too bad when the time finally came, you couldn't see him anymore. it was almost like he'd completed become a ghost. a spirit. a memory.
Tumblr media
a few long battles later, you're watching anxiously as cole fights master yang. you look back between them and the rift slowly closing. the rift that'll be the only way to turn him back to good old regular cole. the cole you fell in love with 7 years ago. you watch as yang's old students fly through the rift as they regain their mortal state again, hoping cole could do the same.
as master yang pushed cole into the rift, sacrificing himself, you couldn't see if cole had made it or not, as a bright, piercing light was emitted from the portal closing, leaving behind such a loud explosion that your ears had begun to ring. you felt the bounty begin to shake underneath you, but you didn't care. all you wanted to know was if cole was okay and had made it into the rift safely.
as you and the rest of the ninja made your way back to land safely, you felt yourself tense up as you saw that cole wasn't there. had he not made it in time? was the rift a trick by master yang? did he decide he didn't want to become mortal again? the voices of your fellow companions deafened as your mind began to be flooded with thoughts of what might've happened to him, tears slowly starting to make their way down your cheeks. you were about to collapse onto the floor until you heard the familiar, soothing tone of his voice.
"now, why is my lovely girlfriend crying? you didn't miss me that much, did you 'rena?"
time seemed to move in slow motion as you turned around to see the love of your life standing in front of you, looking almost brand new, except for that new scar that had appeared on the left side of his forehead. you didn't hesitate to jump into his outstretched arms, sinking into the now warm feeling of his arms.
"kiss me, brookstone."
as soon as the words had left your mouth, he leaned in to kiss you, your lips moving in sync as the kiss deepened, and you hoped the moment would never end.

obtio and itachi for the character bingo. actually lets also go with sasuke lets get the whole uchiha family drama in here
Tumblr media
ok i did this bingo a while ago w obito but im doing it again because my opinion is more developed since we've now discussed him at length. i think he's fucking annoying and his significance in the final arc is absolutely bizarre and deeply undeserved.
obito's significance in the story should begin and end at kakashi's backstory. like you've talked about, to kakashi, obito is more of a symbol than a person; kakashi was deeply traumatized (understandably) by obito's final moments, and is infinitely plagued with guilt over the person that he was at that time, blaming himself for his friends' deaths even though it wasn't actually his fault. he had no respect for obito until obito's final moments, where he sacrificed himself for kakashi and gifted him HIS EYE, GOUGED FROM ITS SOCKET AND SWAPPED WITH KAKASHI'S, HEALED INTO PLACE BY HIS 12 YEAR OLD TEAMMATE, finally making kakashi understand that looking out for the people you love moreso than the mission itself is honorable, actually. obito represents what kakashi should be and what he was unable to be, a point of failure and something to strive towards and fall short of forever. the horror of obito's death is emblematic of what's wrong with konoha and the ninja system in general-- why was rin, a child, taken prisoner? why was it left up to kakashi and obito, children, to rescue her alone? why were the three of them on the battlefield to begin with, KAKASHI AS THE TEAM LEADER? children gouging their eyes out as parting gifts. obito cared about kakashi from the beginning enough to give him an actual piece of himself, but kakashi couldn't be assed to give him the time of day until the moment obito died (because he was 1) an asshole as a child (love and light!) and 2) also traumatized by his father's SUICIDE (ALSO A BYPRODUCT OF WAR) which shaped his world view in an extremely rigid way), and THIS should haunt him forever. he can grow from it and make new connections and try his damnedest to make up for it, but obito should NOT come back. there is NO REASON for him to come back. he is not even SLIGHTLY an interesting enough character in his own right to justify him coming back, especially not as a MAIN PLAYER IN THE FINAL BATTLE. HUH?
his obsession with rin, a girl who ALSO had zero personality and thus i don't care at all about their relationship with each other, was absolutely bizarre and ridiculous, the way he hung onto it i understand objectively was a symptom of his stunted emotional growth and being a very broken man, but the way this was executed was MISERABLY done, no one cares, shut the fuck up, she didn't even like you (she liked kakashi, for some fucking reason, weird to make that like her only personality trait just for kakashi to not even like her back). like his anger that kakashi didn't protect her is 1) sexist but we know this (she is apparently incapable of protecting herself) and 2) annoying because again, this would serve much better as just another failure notch in kakashi's fuckup belt, but instead this dude comes back at the age of 32 to be like ooououuuugh all i wish is to hold hands with the girl i had a crush on when i was 12 and know nothing about..... SHUT THE FUCK UPPPPP
and obviously the fandom. fucking. KAKASHI/OBITO???? REALLY????? kakashi cares about obito because he was his teammate and a symbol of his personal failures, and obito sacrificed himself for kakashi because he was a kindhearted child and both of them were raised as war machines. how the fuck does that ever ever translate to romantic attraction. ever. what. they weren't even actual friends. why is this so popular. like in what world.... IN WHAT WORLD............
Tumblr media
itachi....... itachi............i loveyou......... i mentioned this in a previous post but to me itachi is gen the POSTERCHILD of everything that is so wrong with the political system. he grew up SWALLOWED by it and chewed up and spit back out. his father took him to a battle field when he was like 4 literally just so he'd see what it was like. he was raised as a double agent and brainwashed so seamlessly that by the end he didn't even know whose side he was actually on. absolutely fascinating character and heartbreaking and devastating and horrible. ive never never never seen siblings written as well as kishimoto wrote sasuke and itachi, because LITERALLY WHO CAN GROW ME A NEW BROTHER... itachi loved sasuke more than anything. im convinced that if you dont think he loved sasuke then you weren't watching. obviously, what he did was terribly cruel and he ruined sasuke's entire life and no amount of i love you and im sorry can fix or change that, but he loved him. driven to do something unspeakably horrible by the government officials who had groomed him into a killing machine, setting the fate of his clan and the village and potentially beyond that on his teenaged shoulders, but he had to spare his brother. like itachi is deeply deeply brainwashed by konoha and this is something that he never gets over; he spares sasuke and drives him to hate him because he's afraid what would happen if sasuke crossed konoha, what konoha would do to him, he thinks that maybe he's doing the right thing and protecting the village, maybe, if sasuke grows up strong, stronger than him, no matter what it takes, then maybe he'll fare better than itachi did. but also there needs to be someone left to hate him for it. itachi can't bare to get out where everyone who knew him, who could really really hate him like he deserves to be hated, is dead. its selfish, obviously its fucked. but he needs it and he's terrified.
itachi's manipulation of sasuke's entire life is frankly very very fascinating and horrible to me, the willingness to rewrite and rewrite sasuke's beliefs and control every aspect of what he knows and believes and wants to a desperate attempt to keep him safe and to keep the village that fucked them both over safe. normally i think bringing characters who already got their epic death scene back from the dead cheapens the weight of the original death, but with itachi i actually think his return is sort of critical just because it breaks my heart so fucking bad. sasuke please don't call me perfect. sasuke this is everything i did wrong and im sorry and i love you and im not going to control you anymore. whatever you think is right, ill always love you. like itachi fucked up irrevocably. but man. thats his brother. thats his baby brother. we are fucked. i think given time sasuke will not think as highly of itachi as he does when the story ends and i think this would be a fantastic development to watch, but where things stand and considering how the rug has been pulled out from underneath him about one billion times i think its fully understandable that he has the take that he does by the storys end.
itachi was not a good brother, obviously, christ, but he DID love sasuke and i think what happened to them both is horrific
Tumblr media
SASUKEEEEE i love a guy who doesn't know what he is doing or what he wants he just hates himself and his life and is terrified of weakness or connection or love and he gets led around by his nose because he's so full of hate and fear and anger that anyone who can help him direct it LITERALLY FCUKING ANYWHERE is immediately someone he will stand beside, until he changes his mind again. like im going to be sick. HES SO FUCKED. its crazy i think how little im about to write about him bc i think without direction my brain sort of looks just like @#**)#!H@FUIBEW*(#@*(WESDU@* *CWF)*WCF wrt sasuke.
was he right? umm im generally anti-tyranny but he was on the right track. it fucking sucks that kishimoto is so scared of change. im so glad he killed danzo. i fucking hate team taka though that was lame as hell idrk why kishimoto was afraid to just let him walk a lonely road the only road that he has every known and instead had to give him a bunch of tonally dissonant goons. devastating. what the fuck even. "you are the only person left who loves me and that terrifies and unsettles me so badly that i desperately need to kill you so that you'll stop and i'll really be alone" is an absolutely insane and also gay character motivation.
post canon sasuke is i think what makes me the most miserable with him (and im trying to get into this w b2, we'll see how successful i am) because i think its like. wow. what kind of person even are you after spending 7 odd years like how sasuke spent them. who even are you. what are you doing. what are you GOING to do. how do you know you won't change your mind and start hurting people again. how do you know you wont change your mind and start hurting yourself again. youre already hurting yourself. where are you. what is this. why are you alive. you should be dead. you deserve to be dead. you kind of wish you were dead. but also someone loves you and swears on his life that nothing in the world could ever make him stop, and you believe him and its so terrifying being known by yourself and by someone else but maybe things will be okay but maybe they wont and you hope that when the two of you die, its you first, because even though he says he never ever could you know he could get on without you but you have no idea who you'd be without him.
i wont rehash boruto because ive done that already but its critical as well. WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO HIM IM GONNA THROWUP

You Would Always Still Love Him - Omega!Iruka Umino
+++++++
A/N: This is Day 11 of the Summer Event Collab with @animeomegas.
Warnings: A bit of angst, mentions of fighting, mentions of dangerous, life threatening mission, mentions of self hatred, mentions of therapy, hopeful-ish ending.

+++++++
Prompt:  Person B tracing their names together in the sand.
Word Count: 1146
+++++++
The mission may have been completed early but it wasn’t without injury. You were pretty unscathed - a few new bruises and cuts that you knew would scar. A broken pinky and wrist. Nothing you couldn’t handle. Your team hadn’t been so lucky. Two of your teammates and your team leader sustained harsher injuries - ones that required medical aid and some time-sensitive healing. One of them was ordered to bed rest for a week while the others were in a medically induced coma. Your third teammate, whose injuries were also minor, sent word to the Hokage with copies of the medical reports and your client's written confirmation that the mission had been completed.
Your client was allowing you to stay at his inn free of charge while your team recuperates enough to make it over the border as further repayment. It was very generous of them.
It was also very generous of the Hokage to respond with extra funds to help cover any costs during your stay. He assured you in his letter that all commitments that you and your team had made in the village for the next month were redelegated without giving away any pertinent information regarding the why. If the Third was good for one thing, it was keeping confidentiality about his ninja’s medical information.
You were a bit relieved if you were being honest with yourself. A small break was something you could admit you needed to get your head on straight and figure out what your next steps were.
Sitting down in the sand, you remove your shoes, roll up your pants, and let the cool waves splash gently at your toes. The water is chilly and you wiggle your toes until it warms up. Leaning forward, you pull a note from the inside of your shirt pocket, the paper a little worse for wear despite it being so newly written, and open it.
‘I snuck a few of those protein bars in your bag. I managed to snag the last box in the store after you mentioned that you couldn’t find them. Stay safe! ~ Iruka’ was all it said. There was a little heart next to his name and the barest hint of his scent wafted from the paper.
It made your heart thump painfully in your chest, fingers flicking over the words and the wrinkles indenting into the paper. You knew it was written before the fight, before things turned sour and ugly between you and your Omega. The nasty words you exchanged and the way your voices rose and fell as hostility festered between you both echoed in the back of your head.
Tensions had been high the week leading up to it and you had hoped that you would be gone before everything shattered. He was stressed. You were stressed. For some reason, instead of falling together like you normally would have, you both drifted away to deal with it. Being away on your mission would give him some breathing room to relax and you could get out some of your pent-up aggression.
It didn’t work out that way. You left the village with anger in your heart and poison on your tongue. You can’t remember what set it off or who snapped but there was a lot of yelling, a lot of snarling. Iruka didn’t walk you to the gate as he usually did, choosing to ignore you entirely as you collected your pack and left. It stung and by the time you were three hours out from the village, you were feeling remorseful. When things turned south and death hung over your head like a guillotine, you wished you had told him you loved him one last time. Just so he knew that, even when you were mad at each other, you still loved him.
You would always still love him.
You slip the paper back in your pocket, making sure to zip it closed so you could add it to the box of other notes Iruka had written to you since you started a romantic relationship. The sand under you is warm. You submerge your hand and watch as it slips through your fingers. It's hypnotic. Calming.
Idly, you write Iruka’s name in the sand beside you. Then you write your own below it. If you were brave, you would have added an x between the names or drawn a heart around them. You weren’t brave though. As fearless as you were as a shinobi, you were a coward as an Alpha and maybe Iruka had finally noticed. Maybe he had been irritated because you weren’t the Alpha he thought you were.
Mentally snorting, you wipe your hands on your pants and press the heels of your palms against your eyes in frustration. How annoying. One fight and you were suddenly so off-balanced about your relationship that you didn’t even want to tie your names superficially in the sand? One fight and you jump right into self-hate and give up? You are such an idiot.
Heat rose to your face thinking about it, a scowl forming on your mouth. Your next therapy session would be interesting. You definitely had some things to work through.
Still, you didn’t add the x between your names. Instead, you wonder if you should send him a message. Let him know you were okay. That despite everything that went wrong in this mission, you managed to survive and would be home soon enough. Knowing him and his proximity to the Hokage and the Missions Desk, he was likely raising some level of hell trying to get information.
If he still cared that is. Maybe he didn’t. Maybe he was just…going about his day like normal. Like you were just another shinobi…
‘Stop it,’ you scold yourself as you stand up and shake the sand from your pants, ‘Don’t…don’t do that. You’ve been doing better. You don’t need to spiral. You don’t know how he feels. You don’t know anything but what you feel and you need to stop feeling so goddamn insecure….’
And Iruka….Iruka is a good person. He wouldn’t stop caring about you just because you fought. He’s had bigger arguments with people and still maintained his friendships with them. He’s punched far above his weight class, directly disagreed with decisions his superiors have made. This fight, in light of the bigger picture, was nothing.
Stretching, you decide that the only thing you could really do at the moment was apologize when you get home. It would mean more if you did it in person instead of through a written message. At least in person he’d be able to see how apologetic you were.
Looking down, you see a wave erase your writing. Mouth quirking up towards the side in a facsimile of a smirk, you head back towards the inn, feeling better than you had since you left.

Awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan
Age 6
The Third Great Shinobi War raged on, engulfing the ninja world in a maelstrom of chaos and conflict. Their team had been assigned to a mission deep within enemy territory, tasked with gathering crucial intelligence that could turn the tide of the war in the Hidden Leaf Village's favor. As they moved stealthily through the enemy's stronghold, tension hung in the air. Shisui, Y/n, and Asahi knew that this mission was different, more dangerous than any they had faced before. The enemy forces were numerous and well-prepared, and the risk of discovery was ever-present.
As they crept through the darkened tunnels beneath the enemy fortress, Asahi's keen senses detected an approaching patrol. Without a word, he signaled to Shisui and Y/n the whereabouts of the enemies, and the three of them quickly covered in the shadows. The enemy ninjas passed dangerously close; their voices hushed but still audible. As the enemy patrol moved away, Asahi breathed a sigh of relief.
However, their relief was short-lived. Suddenly, the ground beneath them trembled, and the tunnel began to collapse. The enemy had set a trap, and their escape route was blocked. Shisui and Y/n were fast enough to escape the ground trap but it caught Asahi, leaving him immobile and stuck. “ASAHI!” Y/n`s scream echoed through the forest as she leaped to her teammate. The earth trap had Asahi in a tight grasp not only leaving no room for movement but also squeezing him tighter and tighter by the minute. while Shisui started to fight against the enemies Y/n activated her chakra blades Y/n tried to shatter the trap. A fruitless effort. Asahi was stuck and more force would only hurt him. “Y/n, Shisui, run away, leave me here.” Neither Shisui nor Y/n even thought about leaving their friend for a minute.
The enemy nin continued their attacks, Shisui successfully countering them with his Sharingan and his incredible speed. But one attack went through his defense right towards Asahi and Y/n. Y/n blocked the attack by using her blades as a shield and creating a chakra barrier between them and the attack. She could hear Asahi´s breathing get unrhythmic. He didn´t have long. “Y/n…. use your blades…. I don´t care… get me out of here.” She could hardly say no to this request. Raising the chakra flowing into the blades she sliced through the earth trap, also slicing into Asahi´s arm. A gruelling scream was heard but now Asahi was free, although wounded. Y/n held a squirming Asahi in her arms and tried to stop the bleeding with her hands. Completely focused on her task she didn´t sense an enemy nin approaching from behind, deadly sharp kunai ready to throw. She didn´t sense it, but Asahi did. He knew it was over for him. When he first got trapped he realised that he had gotten internal bleeding and would probably not make it back to Konoha. But he could do one last thing.
Asahi, always the quickest thinker, realized that their situation was dire. With a solemn determination in his eyes, they made a split-second decision. Using their own body as a shield, he intercepted a deadly attack aimed at Y/n, taking the blow that was meant for his friend. Time seemed to slow as Asahi fell to the ground, injured and gasping for breath. Shisui's and Y/n´s eyes widened in horror and grief as they watched their friend's sacrifice. It was a moment that would haunt them forever. Asahi managed a weak smile, blood staining their lips. "Shisui... Y/n.. thank you for being my friends." With those final words, Asahi's eyes closed, and the breathed his last breath. Shisui's heart ached with sorrow and rage. When Y/n looked up from Asahi´s head on her lap she looked into the Sharingan eyes she became accustomed to. But they had changed. In that moment of overwhelming grief, his Mangekyo Sharingan awakened. The world around Shisui transformed as he unleashed its devastating power, exacting vengeance upon the enemy forces that had taken his friend. As the battle raged on, Shisui's Mangekyo Sharingan allowed him to turn the tide, defeating the enemy with a ferocity and strength that he had never possessed before. But the victory was bittersweet, as Asahi's sacrifice weighed heavily on his heart.

Title: Between the Heavens and Earth
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: The Storm Within
The moon shone brightly over the Hidden Leaf Village, casting a serene glow upon its streets. Kakashi Hatake, the renowned Sharingan user and elite ninja of Konoha, found himself standing in the middle of an argument with someone unexpected - you, Senju YN.
Tension hung heavy in the air as both Kakashi and YN exchanged heated words, their emotions running high. It was unlike them to argue so fiercely, but tonight was different. A storm brewed within them; a storm that threatened to tear them apart.
"You're a madman!" YN's voice trembled with anger. "How can you say such things? You're not alone! We're here for you!"
Kakashi's eyes narrowed behind his mask as he retorted bitterly, "Don't fool yourself. I'm nothing but trouble. My existence brings chaos wherever I go."
The heavens seemed to echo his words, as if even they agreed with his self-deprecating view. Thunder rumbled ominously above while lightning crackled through the dark clouds. It felt like nature itself was protesting against Kakashi's tormented soul.
Lost in a whirlwind of confusion and despair, Kakashi found himself at a loss for words when YN suddenly asked him something unexpected.
"Do you love me?" YN's question resonated through the night like a soft plea amidst the chaos.
Startled by her inquiry, Kakashi stumbled for an answer. His heart raced within his chest as he grappled with his own feelings, unsure of how to respond.
Finally finding his voice once more, Kakashi whispered hoarsely, "You don't understand... You don't wish for a life with me. Nobody does."
YN stepped forward, determination gleaming in her eyes as she closed the gap between them. Her voice was filled with unwavering conviction as she spoke, "Kakashi, I will stand with you between the heavens and the earths. I won't let you face this darkness alone. But first, tell me... Do you love me?"
Caught off guard by her steadfastness and unconditional support, Kakashi felt a surge of emotions welling up within him. For so long, he had kept his heart guarded, fearing the pain and loss that came with love. But now, faced with YN's unwavering faith in him, he couldn't deny the truth any longer.
"I do," Kakashi confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "I love you."
Chapter 2: The Unraveling Heart
As those three simple words escaped Kakashi's lips, time seemed to stand still. It was a pivotal moment where their destinies intertwined amidst the raging storm around them.
YN reached out and gently cradled Kakashi's face in her hands. Her touch was warm against his skin, grounding him in reality amidst the chaos of his thoughts. With a soft smile on her lips, she whispered back, "Then let us face this uncertainty together."
The weight of Kakashi's burdens began to lift as he found solace in YN's acceptance and affection. He realized that loving someone didn't mean they were doomed to suffer because of him; instead, it meant finding strength in each other during times of adversity.
Memories flooded through Kakashi's mind as he reflected upon the moments when he had unknowingly fallen for YN. It wasn't just one specific event but rather a collection of instances that wove together into an unbreakable bond.
He reminisced about their training sessions under the cherry blossom trees—a peaceful sanctuary where laughter filled the air alongside their shared dreams and aspirations. There was something magical about those fleeting moments when time stood still, and it was then that Kakashi felt a warmth in his heart he had never experienced before.
Then there were the times when YN would visit him at his favorite training spot, bringing homemade lunches and sharing stories of her adventures. Her presence alone brightened his day, and he found himself longing for those stolen moments of companionship.
During perilous missions, Kakashi witnessed YN's unwavering determination to protect their comrades, even if it meant putting herself in harm's way. The way she fearlessly faced danger with a fire burning in her eyes ignited something within him—an admiration so deep that it bloomed into love.
But it wasn't until that very moment—standing amidst the chaos of their argument—that Kakashi truly understood the depths of his feelings. It was YN's unwavering support, her belief in him even when he doubted himself, that shattered the walls around his heart and allowed love to seep through.
Chapter 3: The Journey Begins
With their hearts laid bare and their love acknowledged, Kakashi and YN embarked on a new chapter together—a journey filled with uncertainties but also infinite possibilities.
As they stood beneath the stormy sky, hand in hand, they made a silent vow to face whatever challenges came their way. They knew that life wouldn't be easy; darkness still loomed on the horizon. However, they also knew that as long as they had each other, nothing could break them apart.
The heavens seemed to part as lightning streaked across the night sky once more. But this time, instead of foreboding thunderclaps, gentle raindrops began to fall—a cleansing shower that washed away their doubts and fears.
In that moment, Kakashi realized where he truly was—between the heavens and earths—and who he wanted to stand beside him through it all. With tears mingling with the rain on his face, he looked deeply into YN's eyes and whispered, "I love you, YN. And I promise to protect you, always."
YN smiled, her heart overflowing with happiness and hope. "And I love you, Kakashi," she replied, determination shining in her eyes. "Together, we will find our own path between the heavens and earths."
As they embraced beneath the storm's embrace, their hearts beat as one—a symphony of love that reverberated through their souls. The storm may have collided above them, but within their hearts, a calm serenity settled.
For Kakashi and YN, this was just the beginning of an extraordinary journey—one where they would navigate life's trials and tribulations hand in hand—between the heavens and earth.
And so, under the watchful gaze of the moon and amidst nature's fury, their love story unfolded—an epic tale that defied all odds and united two souls destined to be together for eternity.

If you could describe Dr. Ziegler’s lab, it was cold, and every word was synonymous. Overwatch had been revamped, rebuilt, and remade. Winston had been generous after the recall, providing them with supplies and more.
However, it didn’t have the homey feeling her old lab had possessed. Gone were the gauzy white curtains that once filtered in the bright, iridescent sunlight. Metal tables were no longer highlighted with the powdery blue spring. Songs of birds failed to echo off industrial walls and lab doors. Instead, it was cold and soundless, the only light coming from the fluorescent lights that hung up above. The laboratory still felt incredibly empty despite the rows of cabinets and drawers full of new, state-of-the-art tools. Mercy had worked in empty labs before, but something about this one felt strange. It felt distant.
It felt lonely.
Granted, there wasn’t much of anyone to recall. People had been weary of joining back, of going back to the once-worshiped organization that was now deemed illegal. Mercy tried not to care about it, about the masses of people who could only see her closest friends as criminals and thugs. Even when her heart turned heavy with guilt, and her brain began to rot with the dark mold of doubt, she kept herself focused on her mission. Her mission was not to be liked and worshiped by people; her mission was to save people, to protect people. Her focus was not on the alive and raging but on the sick and wounded.
Nonetheless, she liked the appreciation. Praise was lovely, and she couldn’t deny that. However, she learned from the past that it was not always worth it, and if there was something she needed more than healing the sick, it was to make sure the past was not repeated.
So, she was sitting at her desk in this large, foreign room while trying to complete some work. Recently, she has been able to complete the physicals for all those who have been recalled. It was okay, maybe even a little nice, to have the warmth of her old teammates underneath her fingertips again, but other than that, it wasn’t something she cared for too much.
That was a lie. She cared for Genji.
The lines between the doctor and patient relationship always seemed to blur with him. From that fatal night in Japan, when burnt, bruised, and broken hands reached out for the angel’s, to the days of Blackwatch when Mercy had to begrudgingly hand over her muse to the wicked talons of Moira, to the present day where Genji would frequent in and out of her office like a giddy little dog, always nuzzling up to her, Mercy was more than fond of the ninja. He was always there, her little guardian angel who kept a playful watch over her. This wasn’t to say that she had any romantic feelings toward him, but their relationship was definitely on a higher plane than friendship. Safety, for Mercy, was simply just sitting in Genji’s cool metal embrace. However, she was never to admit these feelings, for the fear of upsetting Genji and pushing him away was more potent than her desires. So, for now, the thoughts remain just that: desires. Little sheep that helped her sleep at night. Rosy cheeks were left un-caressed by firm metal fingers, but as long as Genji was happy, Mercy could pretend she was okay with it. The lack of a date was not the end of the world.
Speaking of Genji.
Mercy’s computer chimed, highlighting a small message in the bottom right corner. She took a small sip from her coffee before setting her mug aside and swiveling over to the computer, adjusting her reading glasses so she could read the message. It was a message from Genji.
“Can we do a repeat of my physical? Something happened recently, and I want you to check it out,” the message read.
“Of course. What is it, exactly?”
“Uhm, I’d rather just have you see it than text it. I hope you understand.”
“That’s okay. When are you planning to come in?”
“Is it okay to do it right now?”
“Yes. I’ll be waiting here.”
Despite the fat crickets and other nocturnal insects, they were still wide awake. Having a doctor’s appointment made no sense. Nobody in Overwatch had any reason in their minds. It wouldn’t change anything. The company would be very appreciative if Genji kept her company.
Heavy, clunky footsteps were ringing out throughout the outside hallway soon enough. Despite the noise, each shot a new pang of joy into Mercy’s heart. It was like an owner awaiting the joyful embrace of their small puppy. Mercy wished she could just bounce out of her seat and run to the industrial doors to meet Genji with open arms, but that wouldn’t be very professional now. So instead, she just swiftly got up from her chair, tucking it neatly underneath her desk, and made her way to the door. Knee-high boots click and clack against the cool tile floor, and her lab coat wooshed behind her. She pulled it over herself as she approached the door and undid the mechanical lock. With a hiss, the door depressurized and was able to creak open.
Genji stood on the other side, patiently waiting. His helmet and visor were off, his hair messy and frizzy, and his round, scared face quirked into a smile. An oversized, green, billowy sweatshirt covered his top, and a pair of equally large sweatpants covered his bottom. He stood slightly slouched, his body having grown accustomed to crouching. A back brace would be an excellent addition when Genji needed his next upgrade.
The two stood there, carefully eyeing each other. Mercy could stand there for hours just looking at him, studying him if it was her choice.
“May I come in, doctor?” Genji asked, gently tucking a strand of hair behind his ear. The hair sprang back out as soon as he took his hand away.
“Why certainly,” Mercy chuckled, reaching out and smoothing the back behind Genji’s hair. Genji smiled a little wider before shifting to the side and walking into the lab. Mercy followed behind, leading him to her work table on the other side of the room. By muscle memory, Genji reached to the side of the desk to pull out an extra and set it right next to Mercy’s. He sat down while Mercy made her way to the coffee pot, pouring Genji a cup and refilling her own. Mercy settled the warm cups on the desk, but Mercy still hadn’t sat down. Instead, she made her to a fridge that sat against a wall to the left of the desk.
“Tiramisu?” Mercy asked, pulling the cake from the fridge and setting it on the table.
“Offering your patients sweets? How unprofessional, doctor,” Genji chuckled but nodded, sipping his coffee. Mercy smiled back, opening a drawer and finding two plastic plates and plastic silverware. Soft, spongy pieces of cake flopped onto their respective plates as Mercy set them. With a plastic fork on each plate, she put the cake away before carrying the dessert to her desk. She handed Genji his plate before pulling her chair out and sitting with him. Genji immediately took a bite, sighing at the taste and washing down with a sip of coffee.
“Did you make this?” He asked, gesturing to his slice with his fork.
“Mhmm,” Mercy nodded, sipping her coffee and putting her mug back on the table, peachy lipstick staining the rim. Genji glanced at the stained edge before his eyes met with Mercy’s. Cute, doe eyes shaped with sharp eyeliner and framed with thick brows, how Mercy loved them. Ugh, that wasn’t the point. She had better things to focus on that weren’t those damn eyes. Genji was here for a reason, not for her to ogle at him all night.
“So, what seems to be the problem?” Mercy crossed her legs and set her plate in her lap, regaining the professional persona that made her all so respectable.

Bread on Toast - A Future Man Fanfiction
Josh Futturman and his fellow coworker and best friend, Liv Branson, get roped into saving the world as time traveling saviors with, what were thought to be, video game characters, Wolf and Tiger. Not only are Liv and Josh completely incompetent, but they are also emotionally inept- will this cause the destruction of mankind? Only time will tell.
Warnings: strong language, mentions of throwing up (not in detail), fighting, mentions of violence
Chapter 4: Justice Desserts
When they finally got back to Josh’s house it was dark and his parents were definitely home. Liv’s car was still in the driveway, which probably looked super weird to his parents. It was a good idea earlier that day when they decided not to take it just in case something illegal happened while they were on their mission, but now Josh’s parents were confused as fuck. Josh had missed 8 calls from his mom and 6 from his dad and his mom had even left a voice mail that went,
“Joshy, hey sweetie, I was wondering why Liv’s car is here but neither of you are? I know you’re 23, but I was just curious. Okay, I love you! Bye!”
“Shit…my family’s home.” Josh muttered as they slowly approached his house. “We can’t just go inside.”
“Sure we can, just climb through your bedroom window like last time.” Wolf said.
“How about we just go back into your little sewer lair or whatever.” Liv suggested. While the sewers were disgusting, at least it was more discreet than planning a mission in Josh’s bedroom. Climbing into the sewer made Josh paranoid because he was worried about a couple things: 1- what if his parents saw and put him in a mental institution for looking insane, 2 - what if a giant mutant spider got him, and 3 - what if the ladder was wet and he slipped and fell and died? Thankfully, none of those things happened as they all made it down into their new designated secret lair. Maybe they really were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
“I’ll tell you that right now, it’ll be hard to separate humans from Biotics.” Tiger said, beginning to pace around as she formulated a plan in her head.
Wolf was already starting to make it look like a lair, he’d already hung weapons on the walls and from the ceiling and was setting up some sort of torture chamber for when they caught a Biotic. “I could go Call of Zion on them. It’ll be messy, but it could work?” Wolf suggested.
“Can you two get everyone you work with in one room so we can flood it?” Tiger asked seriously.
“No, we can’t do that.” Josh said.
“Hm, can’t or won’t?” Tiger put her hands on her hips.
Josh scoffed. “I dunno, both? I thought that point was to catch a Biotic alive and get them to tell us where we can find their TTD?”
“Yeah, so we have to weed out the humans from the Biotics, humans are weaker so they die first. The Biotics will be left standing and then you can,” Wolf drew a line across his neck. “Take ‘em all out except for one. Then the torture starts.” He looked excited.
“Isn’t there a way we can do this without killing people? Like a light, non-lethal dosage of poison?” Liv suggested.
“Biotics are immune to poison,” Tiger said, thinking it through. “I mean, we could gas the vents, but I don’t know, that’s too risky.”
“Ingestibles are safer.” Wolf said. “This place is thick with sewer mushrooms,” he looked around as he pulled on a chain he’d been setting up, making sure it would hold. “A couple seconds after eating one of those and you’ll puke and shit yourself and wake up with little to no memory of what happened. Learned that the hard way twice…I think.”
Tiger grabbed a chain that was dangling from the ceiling and started to loop it around a metal chair they must have found out on the street, they looked like they were making a homemade electric chair. “I dunno, too many variables, it would work if they were all in the same place at the same time eating the same thing.”
Liv looked at Josh and shook his arm as it dawned on her. “Josh! The Kronish Ball!” She exclaimed.
Josh lit up. “Oh my God, Liv you’re a genius! Guys, our company party is this weekend. Everyone gets dressed up, there’s an open bar and tons of food and the best part is that at the end, Kronish gives this big speech and it ends with everyone eating a Kronish ball. They’re like little chocolate truffle balls.” He explained.
“And they’re delicious.” Liv added.
“That’s stupid, even for the standards of this time.” Tiger immediately shut them down.
“No, Tiger, the entire company has to be there.” Liv explained.
“Yeah, so if there are anymore Biotics hiding in the lab they’ll have to be there.” Josh said. Wolf and Tiger looked at each other. “If one of us can get the recipe for the Kronish Balls, do you think we could make a poisoned version and then swap it in?”
Wolf nodded his head. “It’s doable.”
“Wolf, you seem to know about poison, what do you know about cooking?” Josh asked.
“Remove the hair, eat the meat.” Wolf stated.
“Okay, that’s a start,” Josh looked at Liv and shrugged. “Tiger, you can go undercover as my date.” Tiger made a face. “A partner.” She blinked at him. “A mate?” She rolled her eyes.
“Fine. I’ll be your fucking date.” She grumbled. Josh looked at Liv.
“You can be Wolf’s date since you seem to be his best friend.” He said quietly to her. Liv sighed and nodded. In an ideal world, she would have the balls to have already asked Josh to the Kronish Ball, but, this wasn’t an ideal world. Every year they would go and meet up at the party, but then Josh would just wistfully stare at Jeri and talk about how he wished that he were brave enough to talk to her. This would be the first year either of them brought dates.
“If they’re gonna fit in, then we’ve got a lot of work to do.” Liv whispered to him, pointing to Tiger and Wolf subtly. Wolf had found a plunger and was making noises into it, thoroughly entertained by how it made his voice sound echoey. Tiger shot a snot rocket out of her nose, making Liv and Josh both wince.
“I gotta even it out.” She mumbled as she blew one out the other nostril. Josh scooted away from her and nodded.
“Tomorrow I’ll introduce them to my parents and come up with some kind of lie so they don’t think they’re crazy. Come over a little earlier tomorrow, ‘kay?” He said quietly to Liv. She nodded.
“What about my car, how will you explain that?” She asked.
“Uh…shit, I’ll come up with something.” Josh and Liv left Tiger and Wolf to set up their torture chamber, ordering them to stay in one spot for the night. Josh snuck Liv up his driveway and into her car. As Liv drove away unnoticed by Josh’s parents, she wondered how Josh could possibly come up with a lie believable enough that Josh’s parents wouldn’t think Tiger and Wolf were insane.
The next morning Liv knocked on the Futturman’s door. Diane Futturman opened the door and her whole face lit up. “Liv! Oh my goodness, it’s so good to see you! Did you have fun at the movie last night?” Diane asked, hugging Liv tightly.
She was caught off guard “Yes!” She answered as enthusiastically as she could, reciprocating the hug. “It was…a movie!”
“Liv!” Gabe Futturman walked into the living room. “Congratulations on deciding to get places on foot from now on! You sure are stronger than I, that’s for sure.” He greeted her.
Liv laughed awkwardly. “Thank you, Gabe?” Her car was in the driveway, she hadn’t walked there on foot…and then it hit her. That must have been the lie Josh had come up with. She should have never trusted him to come up with the lie, it should have been her.
“Joshy, Tiger, Corey, Liv’s here!” Diane called into the kitchen. “You’ve met Tiger and Corey right? How crazy is it that they were in Afghanistan?”
Before Liv could answer, Josh came around the corner. “Liv! My partner for this program!” He announced unnaturally. “Aren’t you so excited to be partners for the job training project at Kronish Labs?”
“You’re so bad at this.” Liv whispered to him as he went in for the world’s most awkward hug.
“Shut up, Liv.” Josh whispered. Wolf and Tiger sauntered around the corner.
“Liv, it’s so sweet of you to help Joshy with this program.” Diane said. “And tell me, what made you decide to start walking everywhere?”
Liv shot Josh a look as he looked down at the ground, pretending not to be paying attention. “You know, I have no idea. But I did just barely decided not to do it anymore.” She said, staring daggers into Josh the whole time.
“Well! We’d better get on our way to work!” Josh interrupted before his parents could ask more questions. “Those toilets aren’t gonna plunge themselves.”
“Well, hope you can stay longer next time, Liv!” Diane gave Liv another hug. “Bye Joshy,” Josh gave both of his parents hugs.
“Goodbye Liv, Josh.” Tiger nodded at them formally. Wolf also nodded at them. As soon as the front door closed behind them, Liv scolded Josh as they walked to her car.
“You told them I walk everywhere now?! Josh, you terrible liar, my car was in your driveway?”
“Well, you don’t anymore! I told my parents we walked to a movie theater last night, okay? They asked why and that’s what I told them.” Josh defended himself. “And by the way, Wolf and Tiger are now refugees from Afghanistan who were in the war.”
“I heard,” Liv and Josh got into her car. “So, are we just trusting Tiger and Wolf to be alone in your house with your parents?”
“I told my dad that Wolf was on the committee for making the Kronish balls and wanted to learn some things about cooking.” Josh explained as Liv pulled out of his driveway. Gabe was an amazing cook, so if anyone could teach Wolf how to cook, it was him. “And my mom is so excited to have some ‘girl time’ with Tiger.”
“Damn, I kinda wish I could be there to see that. So what’s your plan to get the Kronish ball recipe?”
“I was thinking I would go and ask Kronish.”
“Going straight to the man himself, I like it.” Liv said as she flipped on her blinker.
“Is it weird that I’m nervous to go to work?” Josh asked.
“No, because I am too, especially because anyone we work with could be a Biotic.”
Two days really wasn’t a lot of time. Josh realized that as he exited Kronish’s office, panicking. Kronish broke the news to him that the Kronish balls wouldn’t be making an appearance at the Kronish Ball due to Dr. Camillo being severely pissed off at him for giving away their research.
Meanwhile, Liv meandered past Jeri’s empty desk, hoping to snag another mini candy cane when she saw Josh leaving Kronish’s office. His face told her everything she needed to know. He had bad news.
“Hey you two!” Jeri greeted them as she came back to her desk. “I’m so glad to see you! I was worried you two had quit without notice like two people did yesterday.”
Liv and Josh exchanged glances. “Uh- uh, who quit?” Josh asked.
“Carl,”
“Oh no, not Carl!” Liv acted as though she didn’t know.
“And Janis from accounting.” A flash of Janis “Pretty Smile Girl” from accounting having her arm axed off crossed both Josh and Liv’s minds.
“Oh…I don’t think I knew her…” Josh side-eyed Liv.
“Yeah, don’t think I met her, but oh no! That’s so sad!” Liv awkwardly shuffled her feet.
“You also missed a whole day of Camillo yelling at Kronish,” Jeri said, pulling up a video on her Blapple phone. “I caught some of it on video.” She turned her phone to Josh and Liv, showing Camillo screaming his lungs out.
“STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID MAN!!!! YOU’RE SO STUPID, STUPID-“ Camillo shrieked in the video.
“Ohhhhh,” Josh shook his head as he watched. “Kronish does not deserve that…you know, what if we tried to cheer him up?” Josh suggested.
Liv looked at him with a confused look. They didn’t have time for that. Josh noticed her face.
“I heard,” he started, trying to organically explain the situation to Liv while not sounding suspicious to Jeri. “Uh, I heard the Kronish balls are being retired this year.” Jeri nodded solemnly.
“What?!” Liv gasped. “I- I mean, because they were my favorite part.” She cleared her throat awkwardly.
“I know, me too.” Josh said. “I was thinking, Jeri, could you maybe get me the Kronish ball recipe and we can surprise Dr. Kronish by making him some!”
“Wow, that’s really thoughtful for a dude.” Jeri sounded impressed. “A real renaissance janitor.” She said to Liv, making her giggle.
“I feel like you could have said man there, but okay, I’ll take it.” Josh muttered.
Jeri gave him a small charming smile. “I’ll see what I can do about that recipe.”
Josh gave her a big flustered smile back. “Thank you!”
“I’ll email it to you tomorrow, man.” She teased.
“Thanks, girl.” Josh teased back.
“Woman.” Jeri and Liv both corrected him, before turning to each other and laughing. Josh gave her an awkward thumbs up as Liv pulled him away from Jeri’s desk as he wore a flustered grin.
“Good thinking lover boy.” Liv said to him in a hushed voice as they walked down the hall.
“Shut up, Liv.” Josh rolled his eyes.
“Hey, I had a thought. What if we tried to go through Carl and that other girl’s records to see if we can find similarities between them, you know, so we can try to spot those same things in Biotics.” Liv said, pulling Josh over to a door that had an authorized personnel only sign.
“Ooh, good idea Liv!” Josh said, looking both ways to make sure no one was looking, and then scanning his badge and sneaking into the room with Liv. The room was full of shelves and cabinets that contained different files.
“Lawsuits…” Liv read as she scanned the cabinet labels. “Pending lawsuits?”
Josh walked to the end of the row of cabinets. “Aha! I found it!” He opened the cabinet and flipped through the files. “Do you remember Janis’ last name?”
“No, I didn’t even know her name this morning.” Liv said, walking over and looking over his shoulder.
“Wait, I think I found her.” He pulled out a folder with her name. He flipped through until he found Carl’s and handed it to her. “Okay, let’s see if we can spot any similarities between these two files-“
“What are you guys doing in here?” Liv and Josh gasped and spun around to see Jeri standing behind them holding a box of Christmas decorations and wearing a confused expression. Josh immediately dropped the file he was holding.
“Uh, uh, we were just talking and we both agreed that, um, we were both so sad to hear about Carl and Janis that we decided to find their addresses so we could send them a goodbye card.” Josh said nervously.
“From the Kronish Labs janitorial department.” Liv added.
“There’s only two of you.” Jeri said.
“Two people can make up a department.” Liv said, looking at Josh and laughing nervously.
“You guys really shouldn’t go through people’s files, it’s a serious invasion of privacy.” Jeri said seriously. Liv and Josh both went pale and exchanged worried glances, worried Jeri would go and tell someone.
“I’m kidding!” Jeri smiled and started laughing. “That’s really sweet you guys, can I put my name on it too?”
Josh sighed and laughed along with her. “Of course,”
“Hey, do you guys wanna take a break from work? Read some of these records?” Jeri asked, giggling. Liv glanced at Josh and saw a bit of blush covering his cheeks as he considered.
“Dr. Camillo’s emergency contact is just 911!” Josh laughed, reading through Dr. Camillo’s file. Liv, Josh, and Jeri sat on the floor each reading a file belonging to the other employees of the lab.
“Oh my God!” Liv giggled.
“Nobody loves that guy!” Jeri said in a fake sad voice but started laughing too. They’d brought snacks into the room with them, a big bag of Cheetos and even a bottle of sriracha (Josh’s request).
Jeri opened a new file. “Joshua Sasha Futturman?” She read out Josh’s full government name. Liv burst out laughing.
“Sometimes I forget that’s your full name.” She said through her giggles.
“I- it’s my grandma’s name, it’s supposed to be sentimental, just- just- give me that!” Josh tried to snatch the file away from Jeri as he blushed. Liv stopped laughing for a moment as she watched Jeri and Josh interact.
“Joshua Sasha Futturman, Joshua Sasha Futturman, Josh-“ she tried to say fast.
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” he laughed as he tried again to grab the file from her hand. She leaned away, laughing.
“Woah there buddy, back off or I’ll rub tree nuts on your face until you get golf ball sized hives and welts.” She quoted Josh’s file.
Liv bit the inside of her cheek as she slowly peeled her eyes away from watching Josh and Jeri. She should be proud of Josh, she knew she would be, he’d been scared to talk to Jeri for three years, and now they were acting like best friends. Josh was grinning from ear to ear. He was so happy. Liv wanted to curl into a ball and die. She stared down at the file she was holding, which was Jeri’s. Josh nudged her.
“Alright Liv, let me read Jeri’s file and see what she’s allergic to.” Liv handed him the file and tried to look like she didn’t want to snap her neck. She felt terrible for feeling so jealous.
“Jeri Elizabeth Lang…I guess that’s pretty normal.” Jeri smirked at Josh. “Medical issues…none, Allergies…none…”
“Are you having fun?” Jeri giggled.
“Aw, you’re lame.” Josh teased, nudging her. “What about Liv, let’s look at your file.” Josh grabbed hers next.
“Josh, you already know all that stuff in my file.” Liv said.
“I know, but I wanna read it. Let’s see, Liv Amelia Branson,” Josh pretended to look shocked. “Woah! That’s your name?”
She rolled her eyes, smiling. “You’re so dumb.”
“You’re lactose intolerant?” He kept pretending he was shocked. Jeri was laughing at what he was doing.
“Shut up, Joshua Sasha Futturman.” Liv shoved him.
“Alright, alright,” he laughed. “Who wants a sriracheeto?” Josh grabbed a Cheeto from the bag and put sriracha on it.
Jeri shook her head, wrinkling her nose. “Oh, gross…”
Liv reached over Josh and also took a Cheeto and snatched the sriracha bottle from his hand. “Oh Jeri, you’re missing out.”
“This is a Futturman family recipe.” Josh said before eating his creation.
“It’s the only good thing I’ve ever gotten out of being friends with him.” Liv joked, shooting Josh a sly smile.
“You know there’s a thing called hot cheetos right?” Jeri asked, smiling widely.
Josh immediately shook his head. “It’s not the same.”
Jeri laughed again. “Well, this was really fun you guys, thanks for letting me crash your janitorial department’s hang out.” She leaned over and bumped her shoulder against Josh’s. “I should probably get back to work.” She said, getting up.
“Yeah, us too.” Josh stood up after her as Liv followed. “We should probably clean these up Liv.”
“Yeah,” Liv shoved her hands in her pockets.
“I’ll see you guys later, bye.” Jeri smiled as she walked out of the room, grabbing the box of Christmas decorations she was holding earlier. As soon as Liv was sure Jeri was gone she punched Josh in the arm.
“Look at you go, lover boy.” She teased Josh, even though that interaction made her heart weep.
“Shut up, Liv.” Josh shoved her gently.
The next day Josh walked into work carrying a pair of headphones.
“What are those?” Liv asked. She didn’t noticed him carrying them on the drive to work.
“Oh, they’re for Jeri.” Josh said in a quiet and giddy voice. Of course. “Look, I made them say ‘Stu blockers’-“
“Is that seriously what you did last night?” Liv snapped , sounding meaner than she meant it. “I was hoping you had news about Wolf and Tiger and how they’re doing.”
Josh’s smile faded as he noticed the irritated look on her face. “Oh- oh yeah, they’re fine. Wolf finally knows how to measure ingredients now and Tiger is apparently going to learn to walk in heels today.”
Liv closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to…I’m just really stressed about this mission, I barely slept last night.” She explained. That was half true, she’d also spent the night listening to “Hopelessly Devoted To You” by Olivia Newton-John on repeat while staring at the ceiling.
Josh quietly nodded and they got into the elevator and headed to the second floor. As they walked together down the hall, they saw Jeri looking stressed out by her desk.
“Hey Jeri, I got you something-“
“What did you guys do?” She hissed, grabbing both of their arms and pulling them into Kronish’s dark and empty office. “The police are here.”
“Why would-“
“They’re looking for Josh and Liv Pastman.” Jeri said, folding her arms and narrowing her eyes at them. Liv shot Josh a dirty look, immediately recalling their little hang out at the meth lab the other day.
“Why did you use both of our real first names, stupid.” Liv swatted his arm.
“Ow! I panicked! I-“ Josh looked at Jeri, who looked slightly scared. “We’re not killers if that’s what you’re wondering.”
Liv peeked out through a crack in the door and saw an officer strutting down the hall and talking to another officer in a hushed voice. He had three scars down his cheek resembling cat whiskers. “Josh. We need to get the fuck out of here.” She whispered. Josh peeked out the crack in the door too and saw the officer walk away. Liv and Josh immediately sneakily ran out of the office, but Jeri followed them.
“Why’s a cop looking for you guys?”
“It’s complicated.” Josh said frantically as Liv pushed through some doors.
“Well can you tell me what’s going on?”
“No, we can’t.” Liv huffed.
“Josh.” Jeri grabbed his hand and stopped him. “Level with me here.” She said. Josh immediately folded.
“Look, I got mixed up in something and accidentally dragged Liv into it with me and the cops just won’t understand right now.” Josh explained, his eyes begging her to trust him. “I promise, we did nothing wrong.” Jeri looked between both of them, trying to decide if she believed Josh. “Would you please help us get out of here?”
Jeri slowly exhaled. “You better be the fun kind of fugitives.” She grabbed their hands and started to lead them down the hall when the door directly in front of them swung open. Josh and Liv dove behind the wall.
“Hello, um, Detective Skarsgaard how’s your search going?” Jeri said, trying to sound as natural as she possibly could. In front of Liv and Josh were two bins. Josh threw open one and motioned for Liv to get in. It had loads of towels stacked inside. She shoved enough aside for her to get in and quietly shut the lid, attempting to cover herself in them. It was rather cozy, the towels were even warm, they were probably fresh from the laundry. She burrowed herself further into the towels, trying to at least get comfortable.
“You failed to mention earlier that a Josh Futturman worked here.” Detective Skarsgaard said to Jeri.
“Oh….see I didn’t think of that.” Liv heard Jeri say.
“We’ve got two options for this Liv girl, Liv Branson or Olivia Turner.”
“You know, I don’t know either one of them super well.” Jeri lied.
“There was a shootout at a meth lab the other day leaving five critically wounded.” Skarsgaard’s voice sounded closer. Suddenly the lid to Liv’s hiding spot was thrown open. She squeezed her eyes shut and prayed that she’d covered herself well enough. She felt the bin rustle as the lid closed. Oh thank God. Liv thought to herself.
“The people I’m looking for might have something to do with it.” Skarsgaard continued to explain after shutting the lid. “They also might have something to do with the death of a cop back in 1969.” Liv furrowed her brows as she heard this, wondering what he meant. “That cop? My partner, Jorge Santiago. He left behind a widow, belly swollen with child.” Just then, Liv felt her bin rock as Skarsgaard threw open the lid of Josh’s neighboring hiding spot. She held her breath and prayed Josh’s bin wasn’t empty. She was met with silence. “What the fuck do you people do here?” Skarsgaard finally asked in a disgusted voice.
“…science.” Jeri answered.
Liv heard Skarsgaard’s footsteps walk past her hiding spot again. “I’m going to ask you again. Where is Josh Futturman and Liv Branson or Olivia Turner?”
“I don’t know.” Jeri said. “But I can tell you this, Josh and Liv couldn’t have done it, they weren’t alive in the 60s.”
“So are you saying you know it’s Liv Branson?”
“Um…no, I’m saying you asked me about someone named Liv.”
“How do you know they weren’t alive in the 60s?” Skarsgaard asked in an intimidating voice.
“I know of both of those people and they’re both in their 20s.” Jeri said, sounding as calm as she could. Liv’s heart was pounding.
“Then where is Josh Futturman?” Skarsgaard demanded.
“Again, I don’t know. But a shootout doesn’t sound like him! He’s kinda dopey…and- and charming, and harmless- but not in an unattractive way.” Jeri said, and Liv slumped down amongst the towels. Oh. Jeri liked Josh now. Great.
“I used to know a guy exactly like that. My partner, Jorge Santiago. Here’s my card. Tell your lover boy to give me a call.” Liv heard Skarsgaard’s steps get further away and then heard a door shut.
“He’s gone.” Jeri said, letting out a sigh of relief. Liv popped out of her towel bin at the same time that Josh practically erupted out of his bin all covered in possum guts, spitting and retching. Liv and Jeri both looked shocked and disgusted for a second. Josh wiped his eyes and looked at Liv.
“Yours was a TOWEL BIN?!” Josh shouted as Liv handed him a towel, only holding it by two fingers, scared she might accidentally touch his slimy possum gut hands. Josh snatched the towel away from her and wiped his face. He clambered out of the dead possum bin, still sputtering and smelling like death. “Liv, come on, let’s go.” He tried to wipe his clothes off, but just ended up smearing the guts. Jeri helped Liv and Josh sneak out of the building and into the parking lot.
“Jeri, I can’t thank you enough.” Liv said as she fumbled with her car keys.
“No problem, it’s what friends do.” Jeri said, giving Liv a small smile. Liv’s heart swelled as Jeri called her her friend. Then it sank a little, of course she was becoming friends with Josh’s little girlfriend. “Sorry you have to drive home with Mr. Dead Possum Guts over there.” Jeri whispered, watching Josh get into Liv’s car as carefully as he could and laying down some towels he’d brought with him on his seat.
“It’s okay,” Liv chuckled.
“Hey, is there, um, anything going on between you two?” Jeri asked, putting her hands in her pockets. Liv was stunned and opened her mouth to answer but couldn’t. Jeri blinked a couple times before looking at the ground as she shrugged. “I mean…like…romantically?”
“Uh, I mean, no…”
“Oh! Okay! I mean, I was just wondering because, you know, you guys seem really close,”
“Yeah, it’s…it’s platonic.” Liv said, trying to mask the sadness in her voice at the word “platonic”.
“Cool, cool. Just wondering.” Jeri said nonchalantly.
“We, uh, we should probably go, you know, since there’s…cops.” Liv said, awkwardly backing away.
“Yes! Oh yes! Go!” Jeri shooed Liv. She smiled at her again. “Bye Liv, get home safe.” Goddammit. Jeri was such a sweetheart, Liv couldn’t help but feel horrible for feeling so jealous. She never in a million years thought Josh would ever muster up the courage to ever speak to Jeri, and on top of that, she didn’t think Jeri would ever pay attention to him, he was just a janitor. Just like her. Liv got into the car and was immediately repulsed by the smell.
“Oh my fucking God.” Liv gagged.
Josh was slumped in his seat. “Shut up, Liv.” He sighed.
The drive to Josh’s was the longest drive ever because of the smell, Liv had to roll down all the windows. Neither of them spoke for a good chunk of it.
“What was Jeri saying to you?” Josh finally spoke up. Liv tensed slightly. Did she tell him? She wasn’t sure if he’d heard her get all mushy about him to Detective Skarsgaard earlier.
“Oh, she was telling me we should probably lay low for a couple of days.” Liv lied and immediately felt like a terrible friend. Josh nodded in agreement.
“Yeah…but we’re still going to the Kronish Ball tomorrow.” He said. “I doubt the cops will be there then.”
“Oh yeah, by the way, did you kill a cop in 1969?!”
“Oh for the love of God, that was Wolf!”
Liv and Josh made it back just in time for Tiger’s heel walking lessons. Josh went to take a shower after lying to his parents that Kronish let everyone off of work early as a Christmas present and he smelled like death because there was an accident at work (that part was technically true). Wolf was ecstatic that Liv was there and was so excited for her to taste his test chocolate truffle without poison.
“Oh. My. God.” Liv gasped as she bit into it. She looked at Wolf with wide eyes. “Corey, this is the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.”
“Really?!” Wolf grinned from ear to ear. Gabe, who was standing proudly behind Wolf beaming, gave Wolf a hug. Liv was surprised to see Wolf happily accept the hug.
“Liv, would you want to come help me and Tiger?” Diane asked, standing at the top of the stairs with Tiger sulking behind her. Liv practically shot up the stairs. This was something she had to see.
Tiger walking in heels was like watching Ariel walk for the first time as a human in The Little Mermaid.
“How is something so stupid so hard?” Tiger growled through gritted teeth as she almost broke both of her ankles.
Liv stood next to Diane, who was sitting on the edge of her bed. “Weight on your toe, not your heel. And don’t look down.” Diane instructed.
Tiger angrily kicked the heels off. “Why would you wear something that would compromise your ability to move?” She grumbled.
“They tighten your tushie!” Diane said. Tiger looked at Liv with a questioning face as she plopped down on the bed in front of Diane.
“Your butt.” Liv translated.
“Everything you’ve been telling me these past two days? Paint my face, wear colorful garb, put on those tiny fucking stilts…you’ve reduced me to nothing more than a sewer clown.” Tiger glared at Diane.
Diane sighed and looked up at Liv. Liv gave Tiger a pleading look. Diane got up and went to her closet and pulled out an elegant black dress. “Tiger, when I wear something like this I feel beautiful, and confident, and comfortable. I do it for myself, I mean, sure Gabe appreciates it,” she laid the dress out on the bed. “He actually calls it the ‘sex dress’.” Liv’s eyes widened as held back a laugh and she looked at Tiger, expecting to see her have a similar reaction, but Tiger just looked pissed off and confused, so, her usual look. “It’s actually the best way I’ve found to get him away from those whale documentaries.”
“Why? Why is it so distracting?” Tiger asked.
Diane sat back down on the edge of the bed. “Well, because he’s a man, and you know how men are.” Tiger looked at her blankly. “They think with their dicks.” Diane said, laughing a little bit. Liv snorted and started laughing too. “Well, not all men, but…” Liv gave her a look that said “are you sure?” “Actually, no yeah, it is all men.”
“So, you’re saying this dress can mind control men?” Tiger asked, picking up the dress.
“I mean, yeah, and some women. That’s besides the point. Tiger, if you don’t feel comfortable in those then who cares what anyone thinks?”
“Why are you being so nice to me?” Tiger snapped. “What is your fucking endgame here?”
“No, Tiger, there is no endgame. If something or someone is important to Joshy, they’re important to me, he’s family. I’m sure Liv feels the same, they’ve been best friends for years.” Diane explained.
“Yeah Tiger, we’re nice to you because we like you.” Liv said. Liv saw Tiger’s eyes soften a little before she spoke again, not wanting to let Liv know what she’d said actually meant a lot to her.
“Well, I never had a family. I had a ward leader, but he was killed trying to steal a sugar cube.” Tiger saw Liv and Diane’s eyes look sorry for her. “It was my sugar cube.”
Diane glanced at Liv and hesitated before she spoke. “Well, you’ve got family all around you here, and I am not going to let you fail!” She got up and walked around the bed, picking up the heels and turned to Tiger. “If Joshy can learn to walk in heels, then so can you.”
Liv burst out laughing. “Josh can walk in heels?” Diane gave her a huge smile as she nodded. Tiger rolled her eyes and snatched the shoes from Diane’s hands.
Somehow, later that night, Liv ended up back at Kronish Labs after hours with Josh in the passenger seat and Wolf and Tiger in the back. Josh had just told her they needed to go “check on something” without giving her any context. Probably because his parents were standing right behind them. They watched as a catering van pulled into the parking lot and two guys got out. Liv was still unsure of what they were doing.
“So why did I drive you guys here?” She asked.
“Well, we need a van to transport the balls.” Josh said.
“And we can’t just bring them in my car?”
“It’s a lot of balls, Liv.”
“We don’t need the van for the balls.”
“I want the van for the balls.” Wolf said in the backseat.
“Wolf wants the van for the balls.” Josh repeated to Liv.
“Stop saying balls.” Tiger grumbled from the backseat.
“So we’re going to steal this company’s van?” Liv asked, shocked Josh was willing to go with it.
“Wolf and Tiger promised not to kill anyone.” Josh said. Tiger huffed in annoyance.
“So let me get this straight, we’re stealing this van from this company who was kind enough to cater for our company party, we’re going to bring it back to your house and just expect your parents to not notice there’s a new car in their driveway?” Liv asked, rubbing her temples.
“We’ll just tell them that the committee let Wolf bring the van home a day early?” Josh shrugged. He saw Liv giving him a deadpan stare. “Liv! We’re trying to not drive your car around when we do illegal things, remember? The police are already looking for us, we don’t need them knowing your license plate number.”
“This is illegal, Josh!” She cried.
“They’re going inside,” Tiger said, watching the two men go inside through the delivery doors of the building. They had probably come the night before the party to start setting up. Tiger opened her door and got out of the car.
“Okay, me and Tiger will go get the van. Wolf and Liv, stay here and follow us home.” Josh said as he hurried out of the car before Liv could protest. She sat in shock as she watched Josh try to keep up with Tiger as they sprinted towards the van.
Wolf slowly leaned forward and said, “Can I sit in the front?” In Liv’s ear, startling her. She’d almost forgotten he was there.
“Jesus-“ she turned around and looked at Wolf. She heard the van start and looked over her shoulder to see Josh in the driver's seat, giving her a thumbs up as he sped away. Liv turned back to Wolf. “No.” She said and sped away after the van. Liv looked out of the rear view mirror and saw that no one came rushing out after them like she thought would happen. She still let out a frustrated sigh.
“Is something wrong?” Wolf asked from the backseat.
“I can’t believe Josh had this stupid fucking plan and brought me here to steal this fucking van because he thought it would be ‘more discreet’ or whatever the fuck. We’re going to get fucking arrested.” Liv slammed a hand on her steering wheel. There was a long pause.
“This was my idea.” Wolf said.
“What?”
“I wanted the van.” Wolf reminded her. Liv felt bad for calling Wolf’s plan stupid…but it was. And Josh was still stupid for going with it.
“Oh…well Wolf, I’m just worried that they’ll be able to find us through this company’s stolen van.” Liv said, a little more gently.
“We’ll be fine.” Wolf said.
“Wolf-“
“It’ll be fine, Liv.” Wolf grumbled. He didn’t yell at her like he would have to anyone else. “All of my plans are fucking stupid.”
“That is not true.” Liv reassured him.
“Tiger always acts like they are.” Wolf was horizontally laying in the backseat, knees pulled against his body because he was too tall to sprawl out. He was pouting.
Liv sighed. “Wolf, I’m sorry I called your plan stupid. I only said that because I thought Josh came up with it.”
Silence. She glanced in her rear view mirror to see a small smile appear on his face as he started lightly chuckling. “It would be stupid if Josh came up with it.” Liv laughed too.
When they got home, Josh got out of the car with his eyes wide. “I just stole a car.” He said to Liv, looking both surprised and proud of himself. “What an adrenaline rush!”
“Quick question, did you consider that maybe the company might come looking for their van?” Liv asked him, folding her arms. Josh’s face fell. He clearly hadn’t thought of that.
The next evening, Liv showed up at Josh’s house ready for the Kronish Ball. Considering the van was still in the driveway, it was safe to say that no one came looking for it. Gabe answered the door for Liv and broke into a giant smile upon seeing her.
“Woah! Look out, movie star coming through!” Gabe exclaimed as he let Liv into their house. “Love the dress, Liv!” She was wearing a lacy navy blue dress that she’d worn as a bridesmaid at her cousin’s wedding earlier that year. She’d curled her hair and put it in a half up half down hairstyle. She felt very pretty.
“Thank you!” She grinned.
Wolf was in the kitchen, sprinkling some sugar on the Kronish balls. He looked up and they made eye contact, immediately smiling at each other.
“Wow, Liv, that’s a fancy dress.” Wolf said with a wide smile.
“Well, thank you Wolf. That’s a fancy suit.” Liv replied.
“Thanks, it’s from Gabe.” Wolf happily rearranged some of the balls on one of the platters. Josh came down the stairs and Liv did a double take. He was wearing a suit with a black tie, something so simple but Liv thought he looked really good.
“Hey Liv! Wow!” He looked at her dress. “You look really pretty!” He said, smiling at her.
Liv could not hide the blush on her face after he’d said that. “…thanks!” She said in an abnormally high voice after realizing she was just staring at him.
“Josh, we’d better start loading up the van.” Gabe said, helping Wolf gather up some of the platters.
“Oh! Right,” Josh grabbed a platter and handed it to Liv and grabbed one himself. They made a couple trips back and forth from the house to the van. “Okay, mom! Tiger! We’d better get going or we’re gonna be late!” Josh called upstairs as he did a final sweep for anything else they needed to take with them. Diane came walking out of the bedroom holding a black shawl.
“Woah, mom, what did you do to your hair?” Josh asked. Liv walked up next to him to see Diane had dyed a streak of her hair purple just like Tiger.
“Oh, I just put a little tiger stripe in it.” She smiled. Tiger slowly walked out of the room in the elegant black dress that Diane had showed her the day before. Josh and Liv’s jaws fell on the floor. She looked sexy as fuck. “Awww, isn’t she beautiful?”
Tiger walked down the stairs slowly, scared to trip and fall in her stilettos. “Yeah, surprisingly so.” Josh said. Liv elbowed him. Diane pulled Tiger into a hug, which Tiger reluctantly accepted.
“Awww,” Liv sighed quietly while Josh impatiently tapped his foot.
“Okay, mom, we really do have to go.” Josh said. Diane let go and Tiger gave her a tight lipped smile.
“Okay, bye Joshy, bye Tiger, bye Liv- ooh Liv! I like your dress! Where’s it from?”
“Mom!”
“Oh right, sorry. Bye Corey!” Diane called outside to Wolf. The three of them loaded into the van, Josh in the driver’s seat, Liv in the passenger seat, and Wolf and Tiger left to fend for themselves in the back amongst the shelves of Kronish balls. As Josh pulled out of the driveway, Liv noticed an aux cord that had gotten left in the car. She grabbed it and connected her phone.
“Any song suggestions?” Liv asked Josh.
“Just play something.” Josh said. Liv put her “Liv&Josh” playlist on shuffle. They made the playlist when they first became friends as something they could listen to together on breaks at work. The first song that came on was “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone. “Ooh! This is a good one! Wolf you’re gonna love this one!” Josh said, cranking the volume. He pointed at Liv and sang. “Hey!”
Liv pointed back and echoed him. “Hey!”
“What’s the matter with your head, yeah!” They both sang together, dancing in their seats. Tiger watched them with a judgemental look, but Wolf was nodding his head along to the beat, copying the way Liv and Josh bounced their shoulders to the song.
“What the fuck is happening here?” Tiger asked quietly, looking confused and scared at the same time.
“COME AND GET YOUR LOVE!!!!” Liv and Josh both sang at the top of their lungs. Wolf grinned and nodded his head ecstatically to the song.
“I do like this song!” He exclaimed. Liv and Josh imitated the guitar sounds with their mouths as they sang along.
Josh and Liv sang their hearts out as Josh drove, Wolf excitedly bopped along, and Tiger had her head in hands and was massaging her temples as if she had a headache. They pulled up to the function and Wolf poked his head up to the front.
“You guys go on ahead, I’ll take care of the food.” He said.
“Aw, but Wolf, you’re my date.” Liv fake whined as she unbuckled her seat belt.
“We’ll meet up, I’ve got an idea for how to sneak these in.” He said in a low voice.
Josh gave Liv a look that said “don’t ask any further questions”. “Alright, let’s go inside.” He said, motioning for Tiger and Liv to follow him. They headed inside, keeping their heads down.
“Remember, anyone who doesn’t puke is a Biotic. When the fighting starts you’ll both want to take cover. It’s hard enough to kill a perf, let alone take one alive.” Tiger reminded them quietly as they approached the party. Josh glanced at Liv with a nervous look.
“Okay.” He said in a small voice.
“I see Kronish,” Liv said quietly. “Should we go talk to him?”
“Diane trained me in the art of small talk.” Tiger said.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Josh said, waking over. “Dr. Kronish!” He greeted Kronish as they approached him and his wife.
“Oh Futturman, Branson! Good to see you two.” Kronish greeted them back.
“This is quite the party.” Liv said cheerfully.
“It’s a fucking joke.” Kronish’s wife corrected, making Liv and Josh’s smiles fade.
Kronish sighed. “Not now Marigold, please.” He muttered to her.
“Give me a drink ticket.” Marigold said softly but sternly. Kronish sighed as he handed her his drink ticket.
“Uh, Dr. Kronish, this is my date.” Josh said, gesturing to Tiger.
“Oh, hello,” Kronish held out his hand for a handshake. Tiger grabbed his hand.
“Tyra. Gerheart. Wow, what a great party. You look like you’ve lost a ton of weight.” She said in a deadpan voice, not even shaking his hand, instead she just squeezed it progressively harder.
Kronish pulled his hand away. “If that shake were any heartier, I’d have to call it a maul.” Kronish attempted to joke. Liv and Josh forced out fake laughs.
“Haha. Haha.” Tiger deadpanned, earning side eyes from Liv and Josh.
“I’ll be at the bar.” Marigold announced, walking away. Kronish sighed again.
“The wife is not happy with me about my gift I gave to the scientific community. I’ll be paying for that for, oh, ever.”
“Well, Liv and I have a surprise for you. We figured it wouldn’t be the Kronish Ball without…” Josh pulled a little box out of his suit coat pocket. “A Kronish ball!”
Kronish’s eyes lit up. “You two are so nice-“ he reached to grab it.
Tiger grabbed his hand with her crushing strength. “Can’t have that. Can’t have that right now.” Josh grabbed her hand and pulled it off of Kronish’s. Just then, Jeri walked by. It seemed like she was about to walk up to them, but saw Josh holding Tiger’s hand and decided against it. Her eyes looked sad. Josh made eye contact with Jeri and let go of Tiger’s hand and shot her a glare.
“If you follow me, I have a surprise for you.” Josh said, leading Kronish away while he rubbed his hand and gave Tiger a look. Josh gestured for Liv to stay with Tiger.
“Tiger, that is not how you do small talk.” Liv muttered as she ventured further into the party, Tiger followed.
“Who was that girl who looked at Josh?” Tiger asked, still sounding deapan.
“Jeri?” Liv pursed her lips.
“Do you hate her?”
“No, she’s my friend. She’s Josh’s friend too.” Liv said, walking over to the tables full of food.
“Then why are you making that face?” Tiger asked.
Liv realized she was pouting. “I’m not making a face.”
“Yes, you are.”
“No, I’m not.”
“I found you guys!” Wolf’s voice came from behind them.
“Oh thank God you’re here.” Tiger said. “Liv is getting all pouty on me.”
“I’m standing right here.”
“Liv, what’s wrong?” Wolf asked, eyes going soft.
“Nothing!” Liv whined. She paused and took in Wolf’s new server outfit. “…where did you get that?”
“I stole it off of a guy outside.” Wolf said.
“Wolf!”
“It’s okay! I hid his body in some bushes.”
“Oh my God, he’s dead?!”
“No, he’ll probably just wake up real fucking confused tomorrow.” Wolf said.
“Wolf, you had a suit. Why did you change?” Liv asked, trying to remain calm.
“To fit in with the people in the kitchen.” Wolf said, as if it were obvious. Liv’s phone buzzed. She huffed and pulled her phone out of her pocket to see a text from Josh that read “911. Come to the kitchen now.”
“Josh needs us in the kitchen.” Liv said.
“A Biotic might have caught him, we need to move.” Tiger said. They rushed to the kitchen (which Wolf had to lead them to), and saw Josh standing in the middle of a chocolatey murder scene. The Kronish balls. Wolf sank to his knees, the look of grief clear as day on his face.
“What happened?!” Liv gasped.
“What kind of a monster would do this?” Wolf was picking up the silver trays he’d laid the chocolate balls on and holding them as if they were a dead loved one.
“Dr. Camillo happened.” Josh said, looking at Liv.
“Fuck this. Back to plan A, we gas the place.” Tiger said, observing the mess.
“No, no, no, Kronish is still giving this toast. Wolf, can you please make more balls?” Josh asked, as Wolf turned his head quickly, looking up at Josh.
“You talking like a quickfire challenge?” He asked, excitement bubbling in his voice.
“The quickest and the fieriest.” Josh said. Wolf jumped up and sprinted away without saying another word.
“Tiger, I’m gonna need you to take someone out.” Josh said, turning to Tiger.
“Done.” Tiger quickly responded.
“What should I do?” Liv asked, wanting to be helpful.
“Liv…you’ve been upgraded to my date.” Josh said. “We’ll just…go out there and act normal.”
“…Cool.” Liv put her hands on her hips nonchalantly and nodded, acting cool. She really could have done a backflip.
“Tiger, I’ll go show you who you’ve got to take out, something tells me he won’t be hard to find.” Josh led them out of the kitchen and back into the party. Sure enough, Stu Camillo was sitting across the room, on the other side of the party, drunk off his ass and had chocolate mess all over his hands and suit. He was yelling into a microphone that wasn’t plugged in.
“I’m the king of the microphones!” They heard him yell.
“That drunk ass is Stu Camillo and I’m going to need you to neutralize him.” Josh said quietly to Tiger.
“Done. Commencing Operation Whale Documentary.” Tiger muttered, patting Josh on the chest as she walked towards him. Liv and Josh watched as she stood in front of him in her sexy dress, and watched Dr. Camillo drop the mic and check her out unapologetically.
Josh groaned. “Gross.”
“So, if I’m your date, what does that entail?” Liv asked, running her fingers over the tinsel Christmas decorations in front of her. “Like are we gonna go dance on the dance floor, are we…” she trailed off as she realized Josh wasn’t listening. “Josh?”
“Huh? Hold that thought Liv, sorry, I’ve just…I’ll be right back.” Josh said, walking away.
“Josh!”
“One second!” Josh pushed through the crowd and disappeared for a second, leaving Liv by herself. After a moment, she saw his target; Jeri Lang. Liv frowned and folded her arms, feeling her stomach sink to her feet. She saw Josh emerge from the crowd and follow her down the hall. Liv tucked some hair behind her ear and and sadly walked over to a bench and slumped down. She really wished Wolf were there with her, at least he wouldn’t have ditched her like that. Maybe Wolf really was her best friend. Liv sulked on her bench for a while. All the merriment around her was pissing her off. She finally got to be Josh’s date, even if he probably didn’t mean it in that way, and he ran away to go talk to Jeri. Just then, a figure coming down the stairs caught her eye. Specifically a figure with three scars down his cheek resembling cat whiskers. Skarsgaard. Liv’s muscles immediately tensed. Her brain flashed back to the day before when Josh had said that cops probably wouldn’t be at the party.
“Josh.” She whispered to herself. “Josh.” She said a little louder, jumping to her feet. She tried to walk over to the hallway that she saw Josh go down earlier as normally as she could. She watched Skarsgaard like a hawk, making sure he didn’t see her, just in case he recognized her. She walked to the hall’s entrance and stopped in her tracks. Her blood ran cold and hot at the same time. Her face flushed and her heart stopped and she forgot how to breathe. Time stopped moving. She didn’t know what to do. Josh was kissing Jeri.
Josh leaned against the wall waiting for Jeri to come out of the bathroom. He probably seemed like a real creep, but he needed to talk to her. Jeri had thought Tiger was his girlfriend.
“What?! No, she’s not my girlfriend!” Josh had said. “She’s just someone I work with!”
“Dude, I literally saw you holding her hand.” Jeri had said as she walked quickly away from him.
“No, Jeri, it’s not like that! That woman in there has used me, she’s endangered my life, and to be honest, I don’t think she likes me as a person. With any luck she’ll be gone soon, like really, really far away forever.” Josh had said as he followed her.
“Josh, I don’t really know you that well and you definitely don’t know me. Let’s just…not do this, okay?” And then she disappeared into the bathroom.
She came out a couple minutes later and her face fell upon seeing him. “Lurking outside the bathroom is not a good look for you right now, Josh.” She mumbled as she tried to avoid him.
“Wait, I do know you!” Josh walked after her and stopped her. “I- I know you always cut the plastic soda rings you have so that the fish don’t choke, that’s really sweet! And I also know that you’re really funny, you know, you’re always making those doodles of possums probing scientists.”
Jeri squinted at him and knitted her brows together. “Are you looking through my trash?”
“Yes…no…sort of. I also know you’re really caring! You write thank you notes by hand…no one does that. And you’re super, super creative! You’re really good at origami, the sandwich wrapper ones? I keep all of them, like the crane, oh! And the dragon boat? Liv thinks it’s weird but-“
“I’m gonna go ahead and stop you right there.” Jeri interrupted him. “You are walking the fine line between creepy and romantic.”
“…which way am I leaning?” Josh asked.
Jeri didn’t say anything. She studied his face for a moment, eyes dropping to his lips multiple times. Josh felt heat rush into his cheeks as he realized what was happening. Jeri leaned in and kissed him. Jeri Lang, the girl he’d had a crush on since his first day at work, was kissing him. His heart exploded with fireworks. Jeri pulled away and he looked at her with stunned eyes.
“Stop looking through my trash…?” She said, lightly gripping his suit coat.
He nodded, eyes fixated on hers. “Deal…yeah…” he replied, hesitating before both of them went in for another, much longer kiss. He gently put his hands on her back, pulling her in closer as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
That’s when Liv entered the scene. The second she saw them pressed against each other her brain shut down. She turned on her heel and mindlessly walked back the way she came, eyes wide and jaw on the ground. The way her stomach dropped and the way her heart jumped into her throat was painful. Josh was kissing Jeri. She felt tears start to form in her eyes and she angrily wiped them away. She shouldn’t be angry, Josh was her best friend. Emphasis on the friend. She should be excited for him, but instead she wanted to go and kick him. But she should be happy for him. She walked right into someone without thinking.
“OhmygodI’msorry-“ she looked up. It was Wolf. He turned around looking menacing and defensive, but his face fell when he saw it was Liv and the state she was In. From Wolf’s perspective, Liv’s eyes were leaking black liquid.
“Shit! Did a Biotic poison you with something?!” He grabbed her shoulders and bent down to her level, trying to study what could possibly be making her eyes leak tears of that color. Liv wiped her eyes and shook her head. “…are you…crying?” He asked, letting go and taking a step back, looking uncomfortable.
Liv wiped her face again. People were probably looking at her and feeling bad for her. She lost it. Wolf looked around uncomfortably for Josh or Tiger, someone he could sick this crying girl on. “Josh kissed her.” She sniffled.
“…huh?” Wolf looked down at her as she looked up at him with the saddest eyes he’d ever seen. Shit.
“Josh kissed Jeri.” She muttered pathetically.
“…I don’t know who the fuck that is.”
“The girl he’s been in love with for like a million years.” Liv said, wiping her tears and rolling her eyes.
“…okay…” Wolf was giving her nothing.
“Wolf, this is the part where you tell me it’s okay.” Liv sobbed softly.
“Oh…uh…” Wolf winced. “It’s okay…I think…” he didn’t understand. “Um…well…the balls are on their way out.”
Dr. Kronish began to tap his champagne glass with a fork, ready to give his toast. “If you don’t like vomit, I’d get out of here.” Wolf said to her in a hushed voice. Waiters came out carrying trays of the Kronish balls, ready to serve them.
“I didn’t think I’d be giving a speech tonight,” Kronish opened, standing on the stairs across the room. Liv saw Josh’s head appear as he came running up the stairs.
“Guess he’s done making out with Jeri.” Liv grumbled. She turned around to see Wolf had left. She let out a frustrated groan. Maybe Wolf would have ditched her earlier just like Josh did. She folded her arms and turned back to face Kronish, but instead noticed something alarming and remembered why she’d gone looking for Josh in the first place. Detective Skarsgaard had found Josh and was dragging him back down the stairs Josh had just run up. Her heart started pounding again. She pushed through the crowd towards them. She didn’t know what she was doing, but she followed them.
“I didn’t shoot any fucking meth dealers!” She faintly heard Josh say through Kronish’s speech. She pushed through a clump of people from the accounting department and stopped at the top of the stairs realizing that if Skarsgaard knew she was Liv “Pastman” she’d be dragged away too. She started to well up with tears again, but this time in panic. A server walked by her with a platter of Kronish balls. They looked delicious, Wolf had really outdone himself. Liv swiped her palms on her dress as she panicked and moved away from the stairs. She spotted Wolf looking proud as he watched people excitedly take his creations off of platters.
“Wolf, Wolf, Josh is getting arrested.” Liv said, maybe a little louder than she should have because some people gave her confused looks.
“What?” Wolf perked up, looking alert and ready to go pounce. “By Biotics?!”
“No, the police!” She started hyperventilating. “I don’t know what to do.”
“So, let us all raise a ball!” Kronish said excitedly, wrapping up his speech. “Next year Kronish Labs will go down in ‘herpstory’!” The crowd buzzed with laughter at his pun and everyone began to eat their truffles.
“Hold on Liv, things are about to get good.” Wolf readied himself, getting into a defensive stance. Tiger came sauntering up to them.
“Good news…or bad news, Camillo’s not a Biotic, I made him lick all the chocolate off his hands and he puked all over his expensive coat.” She smirked and laughed to herself.
“Tiger! Josh is getting arrested!” Liv said frantically. Everyone around them was excitedly enjoying their Kronish balls.
“By Biotics?” She asked.
“No! By the police!”
“Go give them a ball. Maybe they’ll puke and shit themselves and he’ll be able to get away.”
“I don’t know where they went!” Liv was still panicked.
A sense of uneasiness fell over the crowd as people began to keel over. Wolf was still ready to fight and Tiger grabbed a glass vase off of a table, ready to smash it over someone’s head.
“I’d get down if I were you, Liv.” Tiger said quietly, hearing the first victims begin to retch. Liv hesitated but saw someone standing straight up in the crowd of vomiting people. Sandy from the front desk. She was a Biotic. Tiger and Wolf went after her. Liv backed away quickly and spun around in circles looking for a hiding place when she saw a small decorative Christmas cottage. Bingo. She sprinted over to it and peeked in the small chimney to see that it was hollow inside. She kicked in the door and crawled in. She pulled her knees to her chest and listened as she could hear the disturbing noises outside as people were reacting to the sewer mushrooms. “Sleigh Ride” by The Ronettes played loudly over the speakers, not matching the commotion outside at all.
“Cane block!” She heard Tiger cry out as she fought off a Biotic. “Crystal antler shield!” There must have been a lot of Biotics out there because she couldn’t hear many people throwing up, but instead heard battle cries.
“Brain freeze!” Wolf shouted. “Clear!” She heard a body fall to the ground. A shadow appeared through the cracks in the small door in front of her and she screamed as it was kicked open. A Biotic found her. Instead, Josh’s head popped through the small door.
“Liv!”
“Josh?!”
“Liv, let me in!” Liv crawled over and grabbed his hands, which were handcuffed, and helped him crawl inside.
“Josh what happened?”
“I almost got arrested for the meth lab, but then Skarsgaard ate a ball and threw up and I escaped and I’m okay now.”
There was barely enough room for both of them, Josh awkwardly knelt between her legs and she was uncomfortably squeezed into a corner. Both of their heads were on a swivel, looking out the tiny windows and catching glimpses of the fight outside.
Tiger’s head went through one of the windows, making Liv scream.
“You’re doing great! Keep up the good work!” Josh panted with wide eyes.
“Fuck you!” Tiger pulled her head out and they both heard a sickening cracking sound. Josh reached over and latched the tiny window closed. Liv and Josh both screamed as a hand holding a giant cleaver knife came through the other small window. Josh immediately bit the hand owner’s wrist, both of them hearing a scream and the knife falling right in between Liv’s legs and Josh’s knees.
“Wrist bite!” Josh announced like Tiger and Wolf. Josh leaned forward to look out the small window, his face awkwardly close to Liv’s.
“Josh, what are-“
Josh shushed her as he watched Wolf stab a Biotic in the neck with a paring knife. Wolf moved and Josh got a clear shot of two legs slowly being dragged down the stairs. “They’ve got Kronish!” Josh used his foot to awkwardly open the door and crawl backwards out of the house.
“Who? Tiger and Wolf? Josh! Come back!”
“No! A Biotic!” Josh was already on the move. Liv stuck her face out of both windows to check and see if the coast was clear. She crawled out of the house and saw Tiger and a Wolf had tied a Biotic with Christmas lights, trying to keep him hostage.
“You’re coming with us.” Tiger and Wolf held his arms against his sides firmly, but he squirmed and thrashed.
“Fuck you, Resistance scum!” He yelled, throwing himself over the side of the balcony. Liv took off running after Josh, even passing him.
“How the fuck- you’re in heels?!” He panted. Liv ran to the hall she saw Josh kissing Jeri in and halted to a stop. Jeri was still in the hallway. She was the one who had Kronish’s unconscious body. She was a Biotic. Josh came running behind her.
“How are you-“ he panted, but stopped in his tracks. Jeri stopped too, looking up at them and dropping Kronish’s arms and letting him hit the ground. Liv and Josh stared at Jeri in shock, she stared back. “No…please tell me you shat your dress.” He said in a strained, weak voice.
Jeri’s eyes pleaded with them to forgive her but then they narrowed and turned aggressive. Liv followed Jeri’s gaze to see that she was looking behind them at Tiger, who had jumped down from the floor above.
“Liv get down!” Josh yelled, dropping to his knees. Liv looked to see Jeri coming at both of them, and hit the deck. Jeri lept over them and went in for the kill with Tiger. Tiger went in for a punch, but Jeri dodged it and also tried to land a punch. Tiger dodged it and tried to grab at Jeri’s throat but Jeri quickly grabbed her hands and tried pushing her down. Tiger wouldn’t budge, so Jeri tried running her into the railing of the stairs. Wolf came barreling down, but Jeri kicked him in the face, knocking him over the railing. He fell as blood spurted from his nose. Tiger seized the opportunity to backflip away from Jeri, creating space between them. If the moment weren’t so tense, Josh probably would have commented on how sick the move was.
Jeri glared at Tiger and did a one handed cartwheel towards her as she backed away, Tiger’s eyes growing wider as she realized this would be harder than she initially thought. Tiger reached into her hair, retrieving the pen-like object that held up her hair, similar to the one Wolf had used days earlier to get the bomb from the Biotics’ necks. Tiger’s hair fell around her shoulder as she ran at Jeri, yelling. Jeri’s eyes widened and she grabbed Tiger’s hand, stopping her from plunging it into her neck. Tiger and Jeri struggled with each other, before Jeri finally kicked Tiger in the stomach, knocking her off her feet. Jeri looked at her smugly as she snapped Tiger’s weapon in half. Tiger gritted her teeth and shot back up running at Jeri with full force.
Jeri and Tiger clashed again, Jeri kicked at Tiger’s stomach at the same time Tiger practically threw her against the wall. Jeri fell against a table behind her as Tiger had the wind knocked out of her. Wolf slowly gained back consciousness from his fall and tried to sit up. Jeri rolled off the table and fell to the floor. It was obvious her vision was going blurry based on how her eyes drooped. Tiger started to get up and Jeri quickly reached her thumb into her mouth, all the way to the back of her jaw and a small beep was heard.
“She’s gonna detonate!” Wolf shouted.
“No!” Tiger screamed. It was like slow motion, Tiger kicked both of her stilettos into the air, jumped up, flipped around, and caught the shoe in one swift movement. She ran at Jeri, stabbing the shoe into her neck. Josh made a strangled noise as he watched. Jeri’s eyes rolled back and she collapsed on the ground. Dead? Unconscious? Liv and Josh couldn’t tell.
“Finally I found a use for these things.” Tiger panted.
Josh slowly started making his way towards Tiger and Jeri with a shoe in her neck. His face showed a mixture of betrayal and heartbreak. Liv’s heart was heavy as she followed and ended up by his side. She felt terrible for being so upset that he’d kissed Jeri. She wanted to hug him, but felt it was probably an inappropriate time. Wolf rushed over to them, detonator scanner in hand.
“She’s alive, but we’ve got a problem.”
“What, is she gonna pop?” Tiger asked.
“No yet, there wasn’t a clean hit.” Wolf said, scanning around the shoe in her neck. “It’s been delayed, not deactivated.” He looked up at Tiger. “Cool move though.”
“How long do we have?”
“About 28 minutes.”
Josh let out a small, sad sound. Liv hesitated, but put her hand on his back, trying to comfort him. “Josh, I’m really sorry. I know you really liked her.”
Josh looked sadly at the shoe sticking out of Jeri’s neck. “I really thought she liked me.”

Hi, Ducky! I love you Valentine’s Day event :) may I please order a plain box with white chocolate marbled with milk chocolate (Kakashi and Gai-sensei) in an oval shape with caramel filling? Thank you!
I loved being able to write for Kakashi. I think I managed to capture just how alone this man truly feels.
I tried to keep this in character as much as possible!! I hope it isn’t too OOC.
I found it a lil hard to fit the white chocolate aspect in here, but I hope it’s enough nonetheless
REGARDLESS THANKS FOR DA REQUEST 🥹
CW UNDER THE CUT: this do have some tickles in it ngl. Spoilers for Naruto’s first arc.

Kakashi will remember this mission until the day he dies…
The day he returned from the Land of Waves, Kakashi hadn’t been this distraught since… childhood events had happened. His team barely scraped out alive, with two of his three team members in the hospital.
He couldn’t explain why this team of brats was so special to him. When he was with the Anbu, he witnessed deaths of innocent shinobi first hand, so why was this any different?
Well, they’re his team after all.
They were his first team to ever pass the bell test, his first team to truly improve each other without them even knowing. They were his first group of idiots, even more, they’re his kids…
Kakashi needed help. He needed someone to invade his presence, as much as he’d fight it. He needed someone to just exist with him for a while, to remind him that everyone was alright.
He wasn’t expecting that someone to be in his freaking apartment when he returned home.
“Guy? Wh- What are you doing in my apartment?” The silver-haired jonin asked, Genuinely flabbergasted.
“Waiting for you, of course!” The jonin chimed, “Tell me all about it! Did you fight anyone powerful? How are your little ones? Did anyone discover their true power?”
“My… little ones…” Kakashi whispered, hands beginning to shake. “Uh, can- can we talk about the- the mission later?”
“Hey, What’s on your mind, rival?” The taijutsu master asked with a patient smile.
The silver-haired jonin squeezed his eyes shut and released a shaky exhale, bracing himself on the back of the couch.
The latter’s smile dropped as he stood quickly to his feet. This was greatly uncharacteristic of his rival… “Kakashi?”
Kakashi’s iron wall suddenly crumbled.
“I was… powerless to help them.” He admitted, voice strained, “I don’t think I could stand hearing Sakura cry over Sasuke’s dead body again.”
That sentence made the jonin’s blood run cold. “It’s alright, here, take a seat.” Guy gently placed a hand on his back, slowly helping his rival to sit. He followed the jonin’s action, sitting next to the suffering man. “It’s going to be okay, take some breaths.”
Against his proper judgement, knowing he’d likely turn away. Guy took both of Kakashi’s hands in his own. “Kakashi… what happened in the Land of Waves?”
Finally, the copy ninja allowed himself to be vulnerable. His breath hitched as his head hung low, settling itself atop of Guy’s rapidly beating heart. He recounted the details of the mission: Tazuna’s lies, Zabuza, Haku, Naruto and Sasuke’s condition, Sakura feeling helpless. “I failed my team…” he murmured, desperately trying to keep his composure.
Maybe it had something to do with losing so many people, but the thought of this team dying… it was enough to make him want to retire for good. He couldn’t lose anyone else, especially not those kids.
“Kakashi, don’t say that.” Guy dropped his rivals hands, and his arms found their way around the jonin’s slightly shaking figure. “You led your team to defeat two S ranked shinobi. It isn’t your fault that Tazuna lied about the mission’s rank.”
Melting into the gentle hug, the silver-haired male sighed. “Their injuries were so severe, Guy. I-“ his breath quavers as he slowly exhales, “I thought for sure I was going to lose them all.”
“I see.” Guy replied, “What matters is, they’re all here. They’re all still alive, and you didn’t lose a single one of them. Those kids are have come back stronger. And that’s the power of youth!”
Kakashi grinned slightly under his mask, Guy always somehow found the way to utilize his catchphrase in every conversation. “That they have.” He closed his eyes and listened to the gentle beating of his friend’s heart.
Guy absentmindedly brought his hands up to trace circles on his friend’s back. “Everything will be okay, Kakashi.”
The silver-haired jonin’s shoulders slightly heaved up and down, showing the latter that he was gently laughing.
“Oh? What’s this?” Guy teased, not ceasing his movement.
“Mmmhmhmn. Don’t b-be mean.” Kakashi demanded, jumping slightly when his friend’s hands traced down toward his arms.
“After all these years… you’re still-“
“Don’t say it-“
“Alright fine, it seems like you’ll have to say it.” The taijutsu master cooed, sneaking his hands down to the sides of Kakashi’s ribs.
“HNGH- G-Guy. Not n-now.” The male hissed, stumbling over his words.
“This can stop easily; you know what you have to say.” With a little more gusto, the jonin pinched at the bones beneath his fingers.
“C-cmohohon, Guy.” The silver-haired male sputtered, “m’nohohohot sahahaying ihihit.”
“That’s too bad. I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to do this, but you leave me no choice.”
With a sudden, swift movement, Guy’s hands were gently prodding at Kakashi’s mask-covered neck. “I still remember your weak spots, rival.”
“G-Guhuhuhuy. Juhuhust lehehet mehehe wahahallohohow.”
“Wallowing? The Kakashi wallowing in self pity? Unheard of.”
“Yehehes! Ihihihi’m truhuhustihihing yohohou ihihihin my vuhuhulnerahahable mohohomehehent.”
“I’m still not hearing what I need to hear!”
“Ohohokahahay! Ohohokahahay! Ihihim tihihicklish! Plehehehehease! Nohohoho mohohore!”
“Ah how the great Kakashi has fallen.” The gentle assault stopped.
The jonin relaxed once more, for the prior tickling had returned to a reassuring rubbing.
“Hey.” Guy tapped his shoulder.
“Mm?” Kakashi lifted his head.
The taijutsu user smiled patiently, “Your kids are safe.”
“My kids…”
“Are safe.” Guy reassured.
“My kids are safe.” Kakashi repeated. He sighed with relief as he repeated the words like a mantra. “My kids are safe… they’re alive… All of them…?”
“All of them.” The other jonin answered, nodding.
“My team… Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura… all of them… alive. My kids are safe. My kids are-“ the silver-haired male was interrupted by a thumb gently wiping his cheek.
He was crying? When did he…?
“I’m- I’m sorry, Guy. I shouldn’t be-“
“We’re off duty. You should be doing whatever will help you be at peace, Kakashi.” The taijutsu master replied with a sweet smile. “Care for another hug, rival?“
“Sure…” the jonin sighed in content, as he laid his head back on the chest behind him, “Hey, Guy?”
“Yes?”
“Thanks.”
No reply was needed from the other man, who simply patted his friend’s head. As time passed, Kakashi had calmed. Still with the silver-haired male in his arms, Guy returned to recounting his daily tales of praise for his students.
He’d have to harp on Guy about breaking and entering, but Kakashi only had one goal to achieve for the day: to go and visit his kiddos.

HOUKI: IDOL WORSHIP.
Tumblr media
“I’ve been a big fan of Lord Sixth from the first time I saw him! The genius ninja, Lord Sixth, Kakashi Hatake!…   Any way you look at it, he’s the perfect ninja!”
ACCELERATED LEARNING.
Houki knew from a young age he was more competent than his peers in some aspects. Knowledge that took children his own age weeks and months to attain stayed in his mind instantly. He later discovered - in the early days of entering the Academy - that he possesses a photographic memory and that is why he excels in the physical acquisition of knowledge.
NEEDING A ROLE MODEL.
Around the same time as he was noticing this acceleration in learning, he was looking for someone to model himself on. His own home held only his grandmother, as they had moved from the Taketori clan home outside of the village and while he recognised her as a role model for demanour and personality, she was not a shinobi. He also looked to the Hyuga household, given the close connection with his own clan, but he did not find a resemblance. As most young children in the village, he turned to their village leader as an idol. The first sighting he had of Kakashi - a small town event in which he stood atop the Hokage building and addressed the assembled shinobi families - filled him with a sense of awe.
DEVELOPMENT.
It was shortly after this sighting that he began to consume knowledge, and with that vast memory of his he soon could recite how many missions Kakashi had been on officially, the age he reached each rank, the teams he had been a part of, the summons he had, the jutsu he had learned. He would spew facts endlessly to his friends until they got sick of hearing about him at the playgrounds and parks they hung out in. He found similarities in their aptitude to do things earlier than others around them and began to associate Kakashi with someone he could model himself to be.
Naturally when playing he would imitate shinobi of the 4th great war with friends, but over time he began to singularly take the role of Kakashi. One time he decided to wear a bandana as a mask and it was pointed out to him how alike they looked in that moment. After that he became determined to get a mask himself, going to far as to ask his grandmother to purchase one. It soon became a fixed point that he would not take it off. He liked the mystery it gave to him, the way others couldn’t quite tell what he was thinking and feeling.
And every time he was told he looked a little bit like the sixth hokage or reminded someone of him it made his heart soar a little more. Once or twice he even had those who personally knew Kakashi comment on it and it cemented the look for him. When others rejected the thought it caused him pain, and he would often dwell on why he did not look like his idol.
CONSOLIDATION.
By the time he entered the Academy, his idol worship was fully developed and unshakeable. Though he’d never had a personal interaction of note with Kakashi, he had caught several sightings of him interacting with different people over the years outside of public appearance (even going so far as to actively attempt to spot him on a few occasions much to his grandmother’s chagrin) and began to adopt some mannerisms. In his mind, he had decided this was what strength looked like, and was determined to emulate in every way. By the time he was at the Academy the teasing had faded, his peers well aware that he would not be swayed from his determination. He became less ready to spew information (another mannerism adapted from his idol) and more focused on his studies, though if prodded to talk he would.
He wouldn’t admit to it, but a lot of his self worth is tied up in how like Kakashi he is. For instance, when his taijutsu skills were not able to rival those of Metal upon their initial sparring matches, he was disappointed, knowing of the great rivalry between Kakashi and Gai. It immediately caused him to become more determined to practise taijutsu.
tl;dr: Houki looked around for a role model, saw Kakashi, went yes you and then proceeded to adapt his entire identity to be him to the point that now if he isn’t like Kakashi he considers himself to be failing.

Sogaki Hanare ~ Naruto OC
I revamped my old Naruto OC, Sango Uchiha (you can find her online in the Naruto OC Wiki, lol), and I fell in love with her and her story! Please continue reading if you want to know more about Rin Nohara's cousin. Feel free to give me some OC critique, in case there is anybody around that cares about this stuff.
Name: Sogaki Hanare
Clan: No Clan, but related to the Nohara‘s.
Gender: f
Age: Kakashi Gaiden - 14, Arc 1 - 27-28, Arc 2 - 31-32
Time Set In: most of her story is figured out during the third great Ninja war, when Team Minato was fighting missions and Asuma, Kurenai and Guy were in academy. But she is there for the whole series, really.
Birthplace: Konoha
Lives In: Konoha
Appearance:
Black hair which is tied to a chignon with fringe to right above her eyes; she has bangs that she ties with two wine red ties at the bottom; completly black iris (a leftover from the distant relation her father has to the Uchiha Clan); her clothing is the typical shinobi trousers (high-waisted) and shoes with a net shirt that covers her arms and neck fully and on top of that a lose, breathable black t-shirt; her everyday outfit are wide 3/4 high-waisted black trousers, and a white tee with a small Konoha emblem on the chest. She likes to wear golden jewlery (necklace and around her trousers) in her everyday life.
Family:
Dad: Her dad is a distant relative of the Uchiha‘s, which is why her appearance is very similar to theirs. However there is no Kekkei Genkai in their blood whatsover, the relation to the Uchiha’s several generations back. Her dad is a ninja at Chuunin level and teaches students at the academy.
Mom: Her mom is a civilian that works in the textile industry. The factory produces the ninja attire for all Konoha shinobi, her mom in particular is responsible for the Konoha headbands.
Rin Nohara: Sogaki is Rin‘s cousin and one year older than her. Sogaki went to the academy the same time as Rin and graduated as Genin and Chuunin at the same time as well. They were really close (BFFs) and when she died, Sogaki fell into a depression.
(later) Kakashi Hatake: Kakashi will be Sogaki’s husband after the 4th Ninja world war. They became friends ever since Rin died. After getting close to each other during Kakashi’s ANBU years (read: their puberty), they had a thing with each other on and off. However, Kakashi could never fully commit to a relationship due to his trauma. They lost contact for a while, however they reconciled after Kakashi became the teacher of team 7 and was looking for some advice from a kunoichi for Sakura. Between the time skip, Sogaki and Kakashi got close to each other, being a couple from Shippuden onwards. They never really made it official up until their wedding after the 4th war.
(later) Rin Hatake: Rin is Sogaki’s and Kakashi’s first born child. She was pregnant with her and raised her during the time that Kakashi was hokage, which was hard because she was on her own a lot. It was Sogaki’s idea to name her after her cousin and Kakashi’s old teammate.
(later) Sakumo Hatake: Sakumo is Sogaki’s and Kakashi’s second born child, he is three years younger than Rin.
Occupation:
Sogaki mainly works at the Hokage‘s administrative board. She‘s had one Genin team in between though, right after becoming Jonin. When Kakashi is Hokage, she is a housewife, taking care of her children for nine years. After her maternity leave she returned to the Hokage’s administrative board and worked for Kakashi for a bit -- she now works for Naruto.
Rank: Genin at 9, Chuunin at 13, Jonin (barely) at 24-25-ish
Team: No team right now. Her Genin team consisted of Aoba Yamashiro and Shibi Aburame. She went on some missions with Kurenai, Guy and Asuma after they became Chuunin.
Relationships:
Kakashi Hatake: see above!
Rin Nohara: Rin was Sogaki’s cousin. Due to her same age and gender and their shared carrier path, they hung out with each other a lot and became somewhat best friends. This is also where Sogaki met Obito and Kakashi, however they didn’t really have a lot to do with each other. Sogaki loved Rin dearly and when she died Sogaki fell in a depression.
Maito Guy: Guy and Sogaki share a ~motivational~ bond. At first Sogaki made fun of him like all the others, but after he was admitted to the academy she figured he was a fun pal to be around. They both share a similar vibe (optimistic and energetic) and thus get along well with each other. She learnt some Taijutsu from him.
Kurenai Yuhei: Kurenai became Sogaki’s best female friend after Rin died. They are very different from each other when it comes to their fighting specifics, pretty much opposites. However this is why they complement each other well when they went on missions. When Sogaki was pregnant and had her first child, Kurenai (with Sakura) was there for her the most. Rin and Mirai went on play dates a lot.
Asuma Sarutobi: Asuma and Sogaki became friends while in the academy. After graduating, they hung out in the dango restaurant a lot together with Kurenai, Guy, Genma, Raido and the others. While she thought he was kinda cute, she never made a move on Asuma.
Genma Shiranui: Genma and Sogaki know each other from the friend group around Asuma, Kurenai, Guy and the others, so basically from ninja academy. When Kakashi was gone on ANBU missions, she and Genma had an on and off thing with each other. They kept it purely sexual though and didn’t have a lot to talk about in private.
Raido: Raido and Sogaki know each other from the friend group around Asuma, Kurenai and Guy, so basically from ninja academy. When Kakashi was gone on ANBU missions, she and Raido had an on and off thing with each other. Raido was on missions a lot, so they didn't hook up as often as Kakashi or Genma. However Sogaki had a small crush on him after he brought her a present from a mission and forgot about Kakashi for a while.
Anko: Anko and Sogaki know each other from the friend group around Asuma, Kurenai, Guy and the others, so basically from ninja academy. Anko isn't Sogaki's favourite comrade. Somehow they don't click with each other.
Ebisu: Ebisu and and Sogaki know each other from the friend group around Asuma, Kurenai and Guy, so basically from ninja academy. Sogaki thinks he's okay.
Aoba Yamashiro: He was one of Sogaki’s team members after she became Genin.
Shibi Aburame: Hew as one of Sogaki’s team members after she became Genin.
Hayate: Hayate and Sogaki know each other from the friend group around Asuma, Kurenai and Guy, so basically from ninja academy.
Obito Uchiha: Obito and Sogaki know each other through the academy and Rin. They hung out sometimes, but not too much. She was pretty annoyed because he had such a big crush on Rin and kept her occupied so much.
Personality:
Sogaki is very outgoing but a little unflexible. She likes to plan things and doesn’t like when things get in her way -- this is why she is not the best on missions and prefers to work at the administrative board of the Hokage. Thankfully, her intelligence is better than her Ninja skills so this is also recognized by Konoha’s strategists, who barely put her on missions. She likes to work a lot. Due to her job and her growing up during times of war, she is very, very loyal to Konoha and views the village as the best one in the fire land.
When she is not working, she usually will be found in some karaoke bar where she gets drunk to forget all of her responsibilities. In her younger years, she usually took guys home every night she went for drinks -- if she wasn’t already with Kakashi. She never had any serious interest in a relationship though, probably because she was subconciously waiting for Kakashi to get over his trauma.
When Kakashi and her finally got together, she stopped going out and started taking care of their flat and took on a little garden. She harvests tomatoes, strawberries and sunflowers. She has a good relationship with her parents: Sometimes her dad comes over to help her with gardening work. When Kakashi gets home from missions, Sogaki takes care of him and tells her mom when his uniform needs fixing. During the 4th Ninja war however, she also joined alliances and gave everything to be a useful soldier.
History:
Sogaki was born as Hanare the same year as Rin Nohara. Rin’s dad and Sogaki‘s mom are siblings.
Sogaki’s mom, stemming from the Nohara family, married a man that works at the Genin academy. He is a Chuunin. They met because of their jobs, Sogaki’s mom - a civilian - produces the ninja attire for students and ninjas, her specifically being responsible for the ninja headbands. Thus, when the students were graduating as Genins, her father would always place the order at Sogaki’s mom.
Acocording to her parents, it was up to Sogaki whether to become a ninja or not. However, due to the third ninja world war she soon made up her mind to join the ninja academy, trying to make the village proud. In her childhood this was also when her very strong bond to Konoha as her home developed. She has a strong connection to the village and will do anything that’s in favor of Konoha, which also shows in her job at the Hokage’s administrative board later.
Since Rin Nohara is the same age as Sogaki and they both decided for it at the same time, they joined academy at the same time. Since they knew each other from family gatherings they became best friends instantly, though Rin spent a lot of time with Obito as well. Sogaki only joined them sometimes, which is how she know Obito and later on also Kakashi. Usually, the Rin, Obito and Kakashi were doing their own stuff though and Sogaki was with Asuma, Kurenai and Guy instead.
When Rin died, Sogaki wasn’t told that it was a teammate of her that did it. Kakashi was at Rin’s funeral and Sogaki remembered him from the academy and Rin, later going up to him to ask him about how her last mission was like. Kakashi barely told her anything and left. Since Rin was Sogaki’s best friend, she would visit her grave regularly, which is where she met Kakashi more often. Eventually they talked to each other, usually about their memories of Rin. Sometimes afterwards they had lunch or dinner together. At some point, they became friends who could grief about their favorite friend.
When Kakashi joined the ANBU, he loosened up a little and due to his mysterious job became pretty attractive to Sogaki. She already had some experiences and after one of Kakashi’s missions - he had to seduce a woman much older than him and lost his virginity to her - Sogaki found him totally irresistible. She used all of her womanpower to seduce him, they spent a night with alcohol and a lot of flirting and at some point they kissed and slept together. Sogaki told herself that there weren’t any feelings involved and for Kakashi, developing feelings wasn’t an option at all. This is why they continued their friends with benefits relationship for a long time. During this time, Sogaki was working in the administrative board of the Hokage Minato Namikaze.
When Kakashi was pulled back from the ANBU and given Genin teams, he pulled fully away from Sogaki. He didn’t like himself as a teacher and thus couldn’t agree to any romantic relationship. During this time, Sogaki went on missions herself together with Kurenai, Asuma and Maito Guy where she could get her mind off her private life (and sleep around with some other guys). After that, she was recommended as Jonin due to her excellent work in the administrative board at the Hokage and her good results in practical missions. Soon, she was given her own teams. Since she became a teacher one year later than Kakashi, she took one of the teams that Kakashi had sent back to the academy at one point. Together with Sogaki and the time they needed, they succeeded and became Chuunin in the end. After that, she returned to work at the administrative board for the Hokage.
When Kakashi took team 7, he reconnected with Sogaki and also Maito Guy, Asuma and Kurenai to talk about their teaching experiences. Kakashi and Sogaki became closer again. During the time skip to Shippunden, they became a couple.
Stats:
Nin - 2,5
Tai - 3,5
Gen - 0,5
Intelligence - 4,5
Strength - 2
Speed - 3
Stamina - 3
Hand seals - 2
Total - 21 -- she was most likely a bit more experienced in Ninjutsu and hand seals when she was promoted a Jonin.

Can I request a smexy time with neji at the hot springs?
Neji X Reader | Hot Springs | 18+
Tumblr media
Now you see this is a character request I was waiting for :) FINALLY
Naruto Shippuden Masterlist
So you've had crush on him since childhood and non of your friends were oblivious to it. You think he had the clue but you weren't just sure.
After sooo many years of you trying to talk to him or get to hang out with him, you both got a mission together and lucky part is that it was just the two of you.
The mission went by very smoothly and it was an easy one but took a lot of physical energy and you both were out of chakra. So you both decided to take rest for the night and rent a nearby inn.
You hung your head low while sitting on your bed's corner mentally scolding yourself to DO SOMETHING. At least get a bit closer to him so that once you both are back to the village, you can take things forward but instead of doing that each time you we were acting oh-so-professional so you left no room for him to loosen up as well.
You let out a loud sign which was cut off by knock on the door. You thought it would be the room service or something so you stood up lazily and opened the door while still looking down and being lost in your thoughts.
"You know you should be more alert on missions" you heard the familiar voice, as you looked up you saw your long haired crush standing with a concerned look on his face. It is a basic rule to be alert on missions while answering a door or entering a new place.
"What happened?" He cut your failed attempt to make anything up.
You tried playing it off with "Just tired". "Come one" he said without leaving the eye contact. His eyes were scanning your face but there was some stern expression on his face like you've done something wrong.
"Where?" You asked TOTALLY confused of his spontaneous invite, it's not like him. Still not taking his eyes off you he replied with 'just come'
You both went downstairs and he entered a room and you followed. Half curious and half wrecked by his serious aura being so intense and your feelings for him was not helping here.
You entered the room and looked around, it was a private hot spring. You were confused and by the time you realized that this was a private hotspring you were spun around like a doll to face a certain long haired guy whose eyes were so intense that they can dug a hole in you. And you loved it.
You were taken aback and tried to pull back but his arms were not ready to let you go yet. "What isn't this what you wanted? To be in my arms and for me to be this close to you?" He said with the same serious aura but with a smirk this time.
Shit! He must have heard you sleep talking last night because in your dream you were telling him how you felt. You do that a lot.
You could feel the blood rushing to your cheeks but before you could say anything or shy away AGAIN he pulled you in closer "Not this time" and kissed you, it was a very iffy kiss to see if you're comfortable or not and man oh man YOU WERE comfortable and you kissed him back like crazy.
He pushed you against the wall and did everything that you even dreamed of, biting your lower lip, exploring your mouth with his tongue, sucking on your tongue, kissing your neck and what not.
He was dominant for sure, but made sure that you were comfortable at all times so he kept sneaking a look at your face to ensure the same.
He made his way down your chest taking off your shirt and the shorts that you were wearing. All the while making the eye contact and making sure that you never left the eye contact too. Whenver you did he'll force your face to face him with his big hands. He loved watching a high end ninja like you being so weak by his touch.
He made his way to your torso, making sure to kiss every single place he can on his way. Him looking up to you with that look on his face? It stirred up a tornado inside your stomach and all you could do at this point of time is moan and repeatedly call out his name.
By now he was dangerously close to where you want him to be. But right before he could go down on you, you starting taking off your underwear, which he stopped you from doing.
"Did I ask you to do it?" He said with the same stern voice. It kind of made you to just stop. You were never the one to listen to someone by damn this was SOMETHING. You stopped.
Before you could say anything, he kissed your clothed clit and started rubbing the fabric. It felt like there was no air left around you, you were a heavy breathing moaning mess. He was rubbing circles while trying to figure it out what was the best spot and once he found your favorite ones his hand showed no mercy to you, all the while your were moaning out loud and not caring that people could hear you through the walls. It was a shared inn after all.
But before you could get to your high, he stopped. Stood up towering your weak body. Taking your cheek his hand in mockingly loving tone he said, "Come to me when you're fully sure about me and I'll give you what you want." And. Left.
You were confused, angry and horny all together but you couldn't make out words to make him stop so you stood there watch him leave.
Obviously you went straight to his room and told him how you felt and you were always sure about him but you were just shy. As if that turned a switch he pulled you in and gave exactly what you wanted but of course after some teasing.

What kind of Genjutsu would the Uchiha men put their S/O into?
Requested Prompt from @passionateuchiha
This is the first request I’ve ever done so bear with me. Also, today’s focus will be on Obito Uchiha bc he’s best boy & I play favorites
18+ content, Minors do NOT interact:
Tumblr media
◉ As a genjutsu user, Obito is extremely proficient. He was personally trained by Madara Uchiha, so even though Obito was a bit of a late bloomer, he’s a quick study and becomes incredibly powerful over the course of his life.
◉ A few instances of his proficiency:
At 16 Obito summons and controls the 9 tails, making it wreak havoc in Konoha.
At 22 Obito places Yagura Karatachi, 4th Mizukage & perfect Jinchuriki under his control, making Obito the de facto Mizukage at the time. It was previously thought that Jinchuriki were immune to genjutsu so the fact that Obito was able to brainwash Yagura for years is basically unheard of.
At 31 Obito uses Izanagi to literally reshape reality to survive Konan’s 600 billion paper bomb attack then compels her to reveal the location of Nagato’s Rinnegan. It’s safe to say that Konan would never have willingly revealed that information so, Obito’s ability to extract the truth is pretty much S tier.
◉ The Sharingan’s base abilities grant the user powers of hypnosis which include putting people to sleep, replaying memories, and creating illusions. Obito’s mastery of the Sharingan far exceed these base capabilities, meaning he’s a force to be reckoned with. Not even his precious darling would be able to escape his hypnotic gaze~
Tumblr media
There were very few things left in this life that Obito looked forward to, being able to see you was one of those last remaining things. Playing the idiot was annoying and inconvenient but for some reason, you never seemed deterred by his obnoxious antics or childish façade. You were a brilliant ray of sunshine, warming his frozen guarded heart with only your smiles and kind words, which did more for him than you’d ever know. He tried to make the most of the sparse moments he had with you; every touch, charged glance and bit of conversation embedded itself into his mind. He lived for these rare occasions, letting everything fall away as he hung on your every word, reveling in any affection you offered. There was a longing deep within Obito that wanted you to know the truth, to see him, not the person he had to pretend to be.
At first he thought it would be enough to merely take on the role of your protector, silently watching over you from the shadows as you made your way to and from work, fixing any locks or windows that happened to be damaged in your home & on occasion he’d even leave extra money around for you to find. The more he watched you, the more he came to realize that what he truly wanted was to be the reason for your happiness, a person you relied on for all your needs... all of your desires. As his missions became longer and increasingly demanding, Obito’s anxiety about your well-being also grew. He couldn't stand to be away from you, unsure if you were safe and healthy. What if something happened to you while he was away- what if you needed his help and he was a minute or even a second too late? These were the thoughts that kept him up at night, fidgeting and pacing as he went back & forth in his mind about what to do.
You were simply too good for this callous world; he knew that if he did nothing, eventually it would snuff out even your brilliant light, so he decided to safeguard it himself. With him you’d be safe, if anything, he was the only one who could truly protect you and when he succeeded in creating the perfect world, you’d be the first to bear witness to it.
Tumblr media
◒ Obito is a total Yandere~ He’s lovestruck, overprotective, obsessive, possessive, self-sacrificing and definitely not afraid to get his hands dirty if anything happens to his darling - ya know, like when he went on a rampage after Rin died and singlehandedly massacred dozens of mist village ninja.
◒ Without a doubt, the type of Yandere to kidnap you- this is the first instance he’d use genjutsu on you. He’d put you into a deep tranquil sleep then whisk you away to the Akatsuki base or into his own Kamui dimension.
◒ He’d make sure to fill your mind with calming thoughts to help you “adjust to your new surroundings”.
◒ During combat, Genjutsu is mostly used to create false images that trick the mind into thinking the body is experiencing pain- though Obito has no reservations about doing this to others, he has better things he’d want projected into your mind. He’d much rather use this tactic to enhance your pleasure during intimate moments.
◒ He’d use his visual prowess to convince you of his love. Literally taking your face into his hands, telling you that he loves you, will protect you and that you’re safe with him. Obito would never tire of telling you these things, until he was sure they registered in your mind, reaching the center of your being.
◒ As an expert in extracting information, Obito can get the truth from even the most adverse foe. Compelling his darling to tell him the truth would be a simple feat- he doesn’t want you to sugar coat anything or be afraid to speak your mind so he’d do this with the intent of knowing what was really in your heart of hearts.

“You lied to me! And brought me here...” You gestured vaguely around yourself, unsure of where “here” actually was- not holding onto much hope that you’d be getting that answer anytime soon. You grabbed at a fluffy looking pillow, hugging it to your chest for comfort as you grudgingly sat down on the large tidy bed in the center of the room.
“Please hear me out, Y/N- I can explain.” He could easily take all this anger from you, transforming it into soothing thoughts that left you with a light heart, but deep down, he knew that he deserved your fury. Obito felt that your anger was yours to wield as you pleased, even when directed towards him.
“You couldn’t even be bothered to tell me your real name!” You shouted, throwing your hands up in frustration. “I t-thought you cared about me...is there anything you haven't lied about?!”
“I never lied about how I feel about you” He replied quickly. “I know I haven’t been honest, but I swear I’ll never lie or keep anything from you again, I...I love you, Y/N!”
“How am I supposed to believe that- why should I believe anything you say?” Tears welled up in your eyes, a few weeks ago you would’ve believed him... you would’ve welcomed his confession but now- you weren’t sure what to think.
Obito clenched his fists at his side, heart aching from how desperately he wanted you too see the love he carried for you. “My feelings for you are real! I’ll prove it to you, I’ll do whatever it takes just...please give me a chance.”
A whirlwind of conflicting emotions ran through you, it was hard to tell which was the most prevalent. Anger and frustration were at the forefront, but there was also a part of you that wanted to reach out to him- this was the first time the two of you had been alone... it was such a shame that it had to happen like this. “Gods! I’m so mad, I could hit you.” you spat bitterly.
“I know & I won’t stop you. Give me all of your anger, use me as you see fit, Y/N- you can do what you’d like.” Obito’s visible eye gave off a subtle red glow as he spoke. Though it pained him to keep his distance, he didn’t want to upset you any further, and most of all he didn’t want you to be scared of him.
You shook your head, momentarily losing your train of thought, his words slowly making their way into your mind. “It’s just a figure of speech- I’m not actually going to hit you.. but if I'm being honest, you do deserve a good slap to the face.” You huffed, wiping away a few stray tears. “Besides, you said I could do what I wanted right? Well then I want to go home, right now.”
“Anything besides that- please understand Y/N, I brought you here to tell you the truth but once I do, you won’t be safe on your own. I can keep you safe here, I’ll protect you no matter what.” Obito’s head dipped in defeat- he could handle your anger, but he couldn't bear the thought of being away from you, not for one second more so, he stood firm in his decision.
You scoffed at his response, feeling mildly insulted that he thought you were so helpless. “You know what, maybe I will slap you... a-and take off that damn mask so I can do it properly.” You cast a sideways glance at him, awaiting his response. As frustrated with him as you were, you couldn’t help but wonder what he was hiding beneath that thing. After all the secrecy and lies, you wondered if he’d finally share this part of himself.
“My mask?” Obito repeated, bringing a gloved hand to touch it, almost as if he’d forgotten it was on.
“Let me guess, anything besides that?” You quipped, irritation flaring.
“Not at all, if you want me to take it off, then I will.” He replied, walking towards you. “There shouldn’t be any other secrets between us, My Darling. I’ll do whatever you ask to ensure you stay by my side.”
Before you could say another word, he swiftly removed the mask. You were speechless- heat rising to your face upon seeing his.
“Go ahead” Obito said calmly, kneeling in front of you. “I’d welcome any touch, as long as it came from you.”
You raised a shaky hand, bringing it down on his cheek with a feather light smack. “I guess I don’t really want to slap you- but that doesn’t mean I’m not still mad at you... Obito.” You left your hand on his cheek, stroking the skin beneath it with the pad of your thumb.
Obito sucked in a quick breath, that was the first time you’d said his name & he loved the way it sounded on your tongue. He placed his hand over yours, leaning into your touch. “I-is there anything else you want me to take off?”
You looked away, unsure if you should say what was going through your mind.
“You can be honest, tell me what you want, and I’ll do it, Y/N.” Obito’s eyes bore into yours, the tomoe in his iris spun, causing your vision to become unfocused for a split second. You nodded as your inhibitions fell away, “Your cloak- isn’t it too hot to be wearing something like that anyway?”
“I guess you’re right” Obito agreed, flashing you a nervous smile.
You unconsciously twirled a lock of hair around your finger, eyes roaming over his frame as he removed the bulky cloud covered cloak. “This too” you pulled at the end of the tight black shirt he wore.
Obito’s eyes widened slightly, cheeks warming as he realized you wanted him to keep undressing. He quickly pulled the shirt over his head, casting it aside to await your next command.
You bit the inside of your cheek to prevent your lips from twitching up at the corners- reminding yourself that you were supposed to be mad right now. Though your expression remained mostly neutral, your eyes kept finding their way back to ogle him. You made a small noise of frustration- trying to get angry, upset, frightened even, but desire crowded every other emotion out of your mind.
“I can put it back on if you’re uncomfortable” Obito tried, not knowing what to make of your sudden silence.
You didn’t respond, instead patting the spot next to you. Obito perked up instantly, taking the hint to sit beside you. “I’m still upset... but you should kiss me now b-before I change my mind.”
The second those words left your mouth, Obito pulled you into his lap, kissing you with such need it nearly took your breath away. Your lips were so soft, softer than he’d ever imagined- he licked and sucked at them, heart thumping wildly in his chest.
You parted your lips, deepening the kiss as your hands came up to tug at his hair, earning you a needy moan from Obito. “Touch me more” you whispered as you rolled your hips against his hardening length.
He groaned at your words, hands coming down to knead at the plush flesh of your ass- thrusting his hips up to meet yours. His eyes rolled back at having you pressed up against him, head spinning at the sensation. “Fuck, Y/N you feel so good like this; I want to make you feel good too please, please tell me what to do” Obito babbled, pupils blown wide with need.
You bit your lip, eyebrows drawing together as heat rushed down to your core. There was something so arousing about the pleading edge to his tone, like there was nothing more important to him than pleasing you. “Ya know... it’s really cute when you beg me like that, do it again.” you purred, raking your nails though his hair.
Obito’s head dipped back in delight, cock twitching in his pants. “Please Y/N, tell me what you want- anything you want.” his crimson eyes held your gaze, never wavering.
Your back arched reflexively, that alluring glow lulling you deeper into a euphoric haze. “Use your mouth to make me cum”
“Lay back Y/N” Obito rasped, mouth watering at the thought of getting to taste you. He watched as you shimmied out of your panties, swiftly flinging the dress you’d been wearing up & over your head. This was without a doubt, Obito’s new favorite memory, he paused for a moment to properly appreciate the sight of your bare body before him.
“Are you just going to stand there staring at me or are you going to put that lying mouth of yours to use?” You teased, giggling at the pout he made.
“Sorry... I won’t make you wait any longer” he husked, using his teeth to remove the glove from his hand before kneeling between your legs. Your warmth and scent drew him in like a moth to a flame- unable to hold himself back any longer Obito eagerly dove in, fervently licking at your glistening entrance. He moaned at your taste; flattening his tongue, he nudged it between your lips to open you up, dragging it from your entrance up to your clit. Sealing his lips over your little nub, he sucked at it harshly- rhythmically pulling it in & out of his mouth.
“Ah aah- Obito!” you whined wantonly.
“Say it again, fuck- please say it again!” Obito murmured against you. You cried out his name, hand finding its way into his hair- pulling at the ebony strands as your hips ground against him.
He hooked your legs over his shoulders, holding you in place to lave over your clit, swirling his tongue around the shape of it. Obito was nearly frantic in the hungry way he lapped at your pussy, hips rutting aimlessly against the mattress.
You twisted & turned your head, heat rapidly pooling in your core as your brain receded into a scarlet fog, hardly able to think straight. Behind the darkness of your eyelids, spinning commas and flashes of red propelled you forward, into an abyss of blinding pleasure. You came with a scream-like moan, writhing as Obito held you firmly in place, greedily drinking you in, like a man dying of thirst.
You twitched with over sensitivity, keening out breathlessly while he continued to roll his tongue over your little bundle of nerves. “Too much... it’s too mu- aah!” You mewled, cunt fluttering as he plunged his tongue into your scorching heat.
“Are you sure? I’d be happy to keep going...” he groaned, looking up at you with pure adoration.
“Uh-huh, ‘m wanna play with your cock now, so take those off” you said, gesturing at his pants.
Obito nodded happily, making quick work of ridding himself of any remaining clothing.
“Now you lay back” you cooed, eyeing the heavy way his length slapped against his stomach as you knelt in front of him. You ran your thumb over the slick surface of his cockhead, tracing every dip & curve until it shone prettily with his arousal.
“So cute” you praised, smearing that arousal across your bottom lip. Obito whined, hips twitching forward while his dick throbbed against you. “Promise you’ll be a good boy for me?”
Obito propped himself up on his elbows, eyes gleaming vibrantly. “I promise Y/N, I’ll be good- I’ll be so so good!” The sweet heat of your mouth made him want to unravel at the seams; the teasing way your tongue worked his length drove him absolutely wild, the etheric sight of your rosy cheeks & bobbing head, even more so. His head subtly swayed back and forth, in time with the slurps and sucks of your pillowy lips.
An animalistic growl rumbled in Obito’s chest, everything you did filled him with such carnal lust that it was almost overwhelming... he wanted to share it with you, to show you how deeply you affected him. Placing a hand on your head, he tugged gently at your hair, not wanting to harm a single precious strand, “Look at me Y/N.”
Your eyes fluttered open, dreamily drifting up to his waiting gaze; vision blurring around the edges, peripherals darkening until only he was in focus. A stifling wave of arousal crashed over you, making you waver slightly, hands coming up to clutch at his muscular thighs for support.
“Do you feel what you do to me?” he grunted, languidly bucking his hips, admiring the sinful way your reddened lips stretched around his girth. “See yourself through my eyes, Y/N.” he husked, projecting the image and mirrored sensations of your actions directly into your mind.
Obito’s voice echoed all around you, bouncing around the inside of your head, everything falling away into oblivion. You were looking up at him, yet you could also see yourself- “Mmph!” you cried as another dizzying wave of passion hit you. Hallowing your cheeks, you instinctively took him deeper into your mouth; something between a gasp & moan falling past your lips, sending shocks of bliss throughout Obito, which you felt in tandem. A furious blush painted your face at the phantom pleasure being sent to your core, making you so delirious that you tongue lolled out as your quickened your pace.
Placing a hand over the one Obito had on your head, you pushed down a few times, hoping he’d understand your silent plea. “Does My Darling want more?” he asked in a low whisper. You whined, nodding your head as he gathered your hair into a makeshift pony tail, guiding you up and down his length causing drool to run down the corners of your mouth.
“Aww f-fuck, mhmm” Obito’s head dipped back, drowning in the pleasure you’d so graciously offered him, dragging you down with him as he fell further & further into a bottomless euphoria. Your head swam with a flurry of images and sounds that swirled all around you. Do you feel what you do to me? When he’d first spoken those words, you weren’t sure what he’d meant- too distracted by the fog of lust that hung over you... now though, you felt him. You could sense the intensity that resided within Obito; it was palpable & scalding, like a raging wildfire that consumed everything in its path- you could feel how deeply he craved you, adored you, needed you.
“Y/N! You’re go-gonna make me cum, p-please can I cum?” he stuttered between moans. You nodded enthusiastically, feeling that same tight coil building in your lower abdomen which had you very nearly seeing stars. Your moans mingled together, essence running down your trembling thighs as his release shot down your waiting throat.
Obito hauled you onto the bed, cradling you against him while you both caught your breath- showering you in praises and thank yous. You sighed in content, slowly coming down from your high, absentmindedly tracing the scars covering the left side of his body, “Is this why you always cover yourself up so much?”
“Not exactly, that’s a long story... one that I will share with you & only you.” He said, kissing your hand.
You smiled to yourself, knowing that he meant it. “Obito..”
“Yes, My Darling? he lifted his head, giving you his full attention.
“I think someone owes me an apology.” you shot him a pointed look.
“I’m so sorry Y/N, I truly am.” he said immediately.
You tutted, putting a finger up to his lips, silencing him. “No, no. I want an apology from Tobi- and no hiding behind the mask this time.”
“Y/N please...” Obito’s cheeks flamed with embarrassment.
“Fine, I guess you really were lying when you said you’d do whatever I asked” you remarked slyly.
Obito sighed, burying his face in your neck, giving himself a moment. “Please forgive Tobi, Y/N-Chan! Tobi will be a good boy from now on, promise!”
You erupted into a fit of giggles. Obito whined, hiding his face as he hugged you tighter against him. “Are you satisfied?” he grumbled.
“For now...” you hummed, petting his dark locks.

“What’s the matter with you, Y/N?” Sasuke’s voice rose with frustration as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Sasuke, you barely spend any time with me,” you growled, “and now you’re saying that I’m at fault?”
Being a Shinobi yourself, you understood his career, obviously, but he was growing distant from you as your relationship progressed. You did not notice it until Hinata pointed that out during one of the girls’ night out together. It was when realization dawned on you that you two had not been having an actual conversation for a while, a long while.
And the exchange soon turned into a heated argument.
“I don’t understand why you’re so upset about it!” He disputed, “We still see each other every day!”
He was true, but getting a glimpse at each other’s faces was not how you intended your relationship to go. You countered with anger, “Why do we even need to live together to only see each other’s faces?”
“Listen, Y/N, I need to get going, the others are waiting for me.” Sasuke got up from his chair and walked out, “We will finish this when I get home.”
“You’re not leaving, I’ve had enough!” You also stood up and followed him, you hated that the man, your man, always pushed things off, things that you found substantially vital. You gritted your teeth, “You don’t understand me, Sasuke, not even a bit!”
At that, he turned, “What do you mean? We’ve been together for years, how can I not understand you?”
You shook your head, tears forming in your eyes as desperation clouded your head, “You don’t know me, you don’t!”
“Y/N, this is why I wanted to leave before everything turned into a mess.” He bickered and reached for the door. Sasuke did not dare to see you cry, he could not.
“Do you even know what I’ve been going through?” You grimaced and looked into his eyes, your voice was trembling, “Sasuke, I’m preg—”
Oh no. This was not how you wanted to break the news to him, that you were pregnant.
“You’re what?” His eyes grew darker at the moment, and you thought his Sharingan was flickering in the dark.
Silence engulfed your system as words just got stuck in your throat, adrenaline rushing. There was no going back, you figured. You were sure Sasuke knew where you were going but he wanted you to be the one to speak, very typical of him.
You were trying to form coherent lines but he suddenly crossed the room to stand in front of you. “Did you saying you’re pre-pregnant?” His voice was hoarse, and the raven-haired struggled to pronounce the last term. You did not expect him to make the first move.
You quietly nodded and stared at the ground, Sasuke was too startled that he could not speak properly, “When?”
You found his change in expression amusing as he went from sheer anger to curiosity, shock, and bewilderment. “I found out yesterday,” you softly poured.
You silently chuckled as his mouth hung open and eyes wide, the sight was rare. He immediately pulled you into a hug and you clung onto Sasuke’s torso, you missed his warmth so bad. He rested his chin on your head, whispering, “I’m sorry I wasn’t spending much time with you, Y/N.”
You wrapped him tighter and snuggled into his chest, “I miss you, Sasuke.”
“I will discuss with the Hokage to reduce my missions. I want to spend more time with you.” He gently smoothed your hair, “Do you know their gender yet? We need to buy Ninja tools and a crib, also their toys and clothes. What do babies eat? I need to ask Kakashi, no, Tsunade is better. I need to keep an eye on you, too.”
Sasuke began his endless worries and you could not help but silence him with a kiss on his lips. He was surprised at first, but took no time to lean in and captured your lips.
“What about your appointment with the others?” You questioned after he carefully set you down on the couch. You told him he did not need to be so concerned but being the stubborn man Sasuke was, he obviously did not listen.
“I will send them a message, I need to take you guys for a proper check-up.” He shrugged and sat down next to you, “You are my top priority, as always.”
