WHERE TO FUCKING BEGIN

this is the most chaotic au that started from some crack fic idea and has grown into fully fledged madness mostly with the help of Chaos Commander in Chief @impishtubist

remus is a political theory/philosophy phd student. he’s studying in a coffee shop when he sees Quirky Girl tonks reading in a corner. he goes over to say hi and strikes up a conversation about her gender studies book which, obviously, he is an expert on

tonks is mostly at the coffee shop bc they do an excellent iced oat milk lavender latte, and bc she’s oddly obsessed with the overly-beautiful barista fleur. she’s too beautiful honestly and it seems kind of attention seeking, and she’s sure if she hangs around long enough she can figure out what fleur’s deal is

beautiful french barista fleur moved to the US for art school and is somehow still here. she does not like americans, except for fellow barista regulus, who is as snooty and judgmental as she is. she’s been trying to figure out if the cute girl with short pink hair who always wears plaid is gay or just from the pnw

remus and tonks hit it off over the fact they’re both very passionate about their work, devotees of overpriced hipster coffee shops, pretty judgmental of the other people on campus, and there’s something just a little bit Different about the both of them. they assume their bond means they’re into each other so they start dating

tonks takes remus to a party hosted by her cousin sirius and his best friend james. both of them are in business school but think they’re too smart for it and are launching their own start up

remus hates sirius on sight. he’s rich and loud and arrogant and a capitalist. sirius is pretty judgmental of remus too, but that’s just because he’s straight. remus can’t help himself from getting into arguments with sirius every time they meet, and soon sirius starts actually searching him out bc it’s so much fun and he is pretty hot. and maybe not entirely straight. then definitely not entirely straight from the way he hits on him one night

in the middle of this all is regulus, undergrad student and fresh out of rehab and de-radicalisation after getting swept up in a white supremacist cult as a kid. he watches this drama go down with amused indifference

there’s also lily, junior associate at slughorn llc who’s currently on the look out for new start ups worth investing in. she’s facing an ongoing battle with co-worker snape, determined to outdo her, and relentless start up founder potter, determined to impress her (and get her money)

what follows is a chaotic mix of drunken hookups, sexual crises, ideological arguments, everyone managing to be a judgmental bitchy asshole in completely different ways, a whole bunch of interwoven enemies to lovers, and most importantly, absolutely terrible Straight Remus Lupin

I want to read about them being happy for their friends, maybe thinking about a future wedding.

I want to read about how Remus hated himself for loving the man who killed his two best friends.

I want to read about Sirius in his first weeks in Azkaban, crying because he knows Moony hates him now.

I want to read about a confused Remus seeing again the man he loved, older, thiner, more exhausted than ever, twelve years later, and being told he never was the culprit.

I want to read about them not knowing what to do now. Its been twelve years. None of them has been w/ anyone since. Is it really worth it ? Do they still love each other ? Theyre scared, like they were in fifth year, when they starded dating.

I want to read about them being awkward around each other, but still not wanting to abandon the other.

I want to read about Tonks loving Remus like only one person did. Fighting for his love when hes already struggling to figure out whats happening.

I want to read about Remus finally choosing Tonks, and Sirius feeling really sad (its the first time their break up is official).

I want to read about Sirius now happy for his mate cause he loves him, yeah, but not in the same way he used to. They start to talk again, and that doesnt feel weird or wrong at all. Theyre happy.

I want to read about Remus losing his best friend once again. He tries to remember every moment they shared younger, as friends and as a couple. But this time, he knows he can do it. He can go through Sirius' death cause he has someone now. He's alive. The three of them are alive.

i have bitched so much about this fandom recently lmao so first i want to say that i love it with my whole heart and every criticism i have is for the people who are not my carefully selected moots. im lucky to be in a bubble of smart and talented people who broaden my world

i really dont get the james fancast. to me he looks nothing like book james. james isn’t ever described as chiseled or broad or like public school masc. and he has dark hair. he’s like a hot nerd imo. i also am eh about the remus one, but ben barnes does truly have my whole heart i adore that fancast

obviously number one is remadora. I wrote a whole ass fic about this so I won’t go into detail but it’s literally just straightwashing and it was fucking gutting to read as a kid. thanks i hate it

ships that I’m not a fan of are harry/ginny and draco/whatever his wife is. draco bc he’s gay. he’s just so fucking gay and spends 7 years obsessed with harry and i truly cannot deal with any more comphet. and also bc he deserves a fucking redemption arc where he unlearns and grows away from the toxic cishet classist blood supremacy he inhaled for 18 years. so maybe some queer genderfluid femme i could see that too. like. a decade after hogwarts minimum

i don’t really care for harry/ginny bc they were so forced to start with. and there’s something v uncomfortable about harry marrying a woman who looks exactly like his mum. and most of all bc harry is a traumatised WRECK after the war. he’s not gonna have the capacity to figure out how tf to live without a constant state of emergency and existential terror, let alone figure out things like love and relationships and identity. so i see him going back to hogwarts for 8th year, having a bit of a life crisis after, maybe going off on an extended gap year with ron, playing quidditch professionally bc its the one thing thats just fun and for him, eventually becoming dada professor and then marrying luna
