ok so like. totally random question but does anyone know what the windmills in mondstadt actually do?? like... it would make sense if they were out in springvale, or somewhere with farmland, where they would logically be grinding up wheat, but they're just sort of... in the city? it seems a lot of the lighting is oil/gas/what have you (and i feel like it wouldve been mentioned if they were powering the city through windmills).
like i guess they could be decorative and a statement piece, but what a strange thing to have in a place like a capital city?? like we get it, yall got wind, but like... this is just...... weird? What Is The Point??

hi i started a new switch game again and i cant describe to you the simple but all encompassing joy whenever i find something fun and engaging that i can Actually Do For Hours. chronic pain is a shit and a fuck but when u CAN do a thing literally whenever u want no matter how bad a day ur having it's genuinely the most powerful sort of happiness i have ever known.

Fun fact joker only wears the glasses to soften his appearance or something
And also in the original p4 princess yukiko was impossible to defeat at all because you needed a specific skill or something I think
ok i know that joker's glasses are canonically fake but whenever a character wears obviously fake glasses i think its infinitely funnier to just. assume that they're real. like idc why joker wears those things in canon in my mind the man is fucking blind because the concept is hilarious to me. real reason he got arrested after hitting shido is because he wasnt wearing his glasses and couldnt see the cops coming

There's a talk about how bad live service games are from a consumer standpoint between the predatory "micro" transactions and how it removes access to games consumers paid for (just check out the latest Ubisoft controversy where they'll straight up delete your account—including games you paid for—if you don't respond to an email in time) but something that gets talked about less is how it gives companies the ability to straight up change how characters/classes/weapons/etc function and how that can make it hard or impossible for people to keep playing.
There is an understood risk of playing, say, an MMO where your character(s) could be changed at any given balance patch but it's assumed that playability would stay in the same realm, or at least low-intensity builds (builds that have less buttons to push and more downtime) would be left alone since LI builds rarely are top-performers.
But with live service games being what they are, all it takes is a change of design lead or balance lead to decide that LI builds are bad actually and to change them with no warning. Then "git gud-ers" come out of the woodwork to defend the change that was never asked for, wasn't game-breaking, and never so much as hinted to be a problem until right that moment.
You can't "git gud" wrist issues.
You can't "git gud" slow reflexes.
You can't "git gud" missing fingers/limbs.
You can't "git gud" brain processing speed.
And so on.
But because of the nature of live service/always online games, there's no way to avoid it as you can't simply not update the game to avoid the changes, not unless you don't want to play at all.
Or you pirate it and have a private server to run said pirated version on.
Accessibility matters. A lot. But it's not taken seriously and there's still the pervasive idea that if anyone so much as mentions video game, accessibility they're just being lazy and need to "git gud". With the lack of physical ownership or being able to opt-out of drastic changes, all it takes is someone in a studio to ascribe to that idea who has the power to push changes and people who prefer/can only play with LI builds can find themself suddenly not being able to play whatsoever.

There's a reason I don't have Journey To Batuu, mostly as I don't care for Star Wars and I'd have to get a bunch of hider mods to hide all the Star Wars junk from my CAS like I did the base game stuff and I'm not sure it would ever be worth it even tho it seems to have at least one nice hair in it based on gallery Sims I keep grabbing that end up bald for me. But is a single hairstyle worth ~$20? No, as Star Wars does nothing for me and honestly I remember my one friend only having the pack as someone gifted it. Someone gift it to me so I can bitch about it freely without feeling stupid. I just cannot with things based on whole other franchises.
I mean lets say there was a, idk, Sonic pack, I'd still find that weird as even tho I like Sonic, I'd rather it not be, okay actually I probably would nevermind. I'd be one of three people who does.
Off The Grid and Simple Living, as much as I bitch about them, would be perfect for a Castaway pack or spinoff or SOMETHING for 4. Funny as I was just talking about this very topic on Twitter earlier (after getting distracted for 3 hours seeing the most insanely entitled whining ever why am I like this) and also give me hyena dogs and jaguars again idc, reskinned cats and dogs are fine I have fucking griffons and dragons.
My favorite Sims packs and games are those that take concepts I would never in a million years expect or ask for, and with how many complaints I have about things in Cottage Living, I'd still call it my favorite pack, even if Seasons or Cats & Dogs does more for me overall gameplay wise.
Off the grid and simple living ruin my immersion bc why the fuck does my sim live next to a guy who just moved in from the multiverse hub and he’s wearing nothing but a thong and a harness, the ugliest bright magenta wig you’ve ever seen, neon green glasses with lenses that are the exact same shade of purple as his platform boots that don’t make him taller, but instead shave off half of his calf to make up for the platform, and he’s got the same grey/purple skin tone as all the other badly dressed guys who just moved in from the multiverse hub
