reminder that deadname and birthname are not synonymous for all trans people! there are trans people (of all genders) who use the name they were given at birth, either alongside (an)other name(s) or by itself!

also, not all trans people with gender neutral or gender conforming names chose that name for themselves. some trans people were given gender neutral names (or names that are non-conforming for their AGAB) at birth, which is one reason a trans person might choose to keep their birthname.

also also, some trans people (due to gender nonconformity or for whatever reason) choose names that are gender nonconforming for their actual genders but not for their AGAB, so someone who calls a transmasc by a feminine name or a transfem by a masculine name or a non-binary person by a gendered-sounding name is not necessarily deadnaming them. (if you have concerns that they are and if it would be safe for both yourself and the trans person to do so, ask the trans person what their actual name is. don’t automatically berate the other person for "deadnaming" them.)
