gentle wind - tapejara
"gentle wind" is a project about pterosaurs i'm making. there's no story, no timeline, and almost no structure - just something to appreciate these beautiful creatures.
i'll post more parts of it here in the future!! if anyone would like to see some process - let me know, i can post it as well :)
also people were asking if it was a studio project - no, i'm doing it completely outside of it, so it's just my little thing. from scratch, and without any financial support. only my motivation and being obsessed with pterosaurs:)
a goliath shark preying on a juvenile serpent. in Nevverse, Otodus megalodon exists in some seas and primarily preys on other large predators like dragons and whales.
(this is a piece of work for a fantasy setting and not intended to be 100% accurate!)
Early Cenomanian- as the Eromanga Sea retreats north, freshwater lakes and rivers cover inland Australia and invite a number of terrestrial inhabitants. In the early morning, a megaraptoran rests under a conifer tree as a small herd of sauropods travel along the river bed nearby.
dinovember 2022 day 1, in a hopeful attempt to break some art block. my timezone's got me lagging behind everyone else on this one, but hopefully I'll still be able to participate just the same?
plumage based on a male white-rumped shama's, one of which has been visiting my windowsills as of late. he's a funny little man and I think about him a lot
the land before time but they only sing songs about how much they fucking hate each other
(AU info under the cut!)
A simple question of what Magnificus looks like under all his hair somehow led to the creation of the Dinoscrybes AU. Grimora is a Citipati, Leshy is a Guanlong, Magnificus is a Beipiaosaurus, and P03 is a Balaeniceps rex (otherwise known as the shoebill).
The “story” here is pretty loose, but Leshy was trapped in ice during the late Jurassic and was discovered and revived millions of years later in the late Cretaceous by Grimora and Magnificus, the latter of whom is magically immortal (don’t question it, it’s magic). P03, on the other hand, is from the far-flung future and was transported millions of years back in time by the scientists at the Kaminski Research Institute. Now they all have to get along or die trying until P03′s humans can find a way to bring him back to the present day.
Bonus size comparison! I wanted them all to be around the same height, but Grimora gets to be a little taller as a treat :3
Ghost mermaids have been puzzling scientist and occult scholars; not really for what they could teach about death, but for what they seem to imply about the history of life.
To date, interviewed mermaids have never recognized a known ghost as a specific formerly individual. However, besides them only appearing at night and being mostly incorporeal, one ghostmaid has allegedly been tracked to her "manifestation site", which revealed a gigantic skeleton, or possibly several.
No proper exploration has been carried out yet, but what perplexes researchers is how the bones seem to be fossilized, embedded in layers of rock that have been dated to many different periods, invariably earlier than the K-Pg extinction boundary.
Ghostmaids sing like merfolk, but their vocal range extends far into the infrasound. This is theorized to be at least partially due to their size.
Neither land humans nor merfolk have been able to recognize a language or to ascertain whether words are present at all in the songs.
To date, one attempt is alleged to have been made at verbal communication by an independent researcher using advanced recording equipment and underwater microphone.
No information exists on the results, or the researcher's whereabouts.
got free reign over a cover illustration for something and after a lot of random deliberation ended up going with my favorite anchiornis holotype. process/sketches below
Pulling itself along with its soft legs, Hallucinospine forages the ocean floor for dead plankton and microbes to eat. The spikes on its back are used to defense against some of the first predatory Pokémon to ever roam the planet.
