• You had decided to move into the hotel after a particularly flashy poster caught your eye

• Your first sign that you were getting more than you had bargained for should have been the sound of scuttling feet as a small demon made her way across your feet to impale a bug on her claws. She was lightly scolded for ‘accidently frightening our new addition’ before running off with the insect
• "Sorry about that! Nifty is really passionate about her job." The demon next to you laughed nervously. You just shifted your weight and nodded awkwardly in response
• Looking a few feet over to the living area, there was a lanky fellow covered in fuzz and lounging on a sad looking couch. He was flicking through channels on a T.V. You caught them occasionally landing on one and laughing before moving on, never staying entertained for too long
• The demon caught your eye, and waved two of his four hands at you in a lazy greeting
• “Oh, that’s Angel Dust! Our other resident." The woman, you now knew as Charlie, fussed. “He’s been with us for a few months, and has shown incredible progress! Something I’m sure you will find yourself doing!” She bounced on the balls of her feet happily while steering you around by the shoulders
• “Uh huh.” You couldn’t help but nod slowly, only now noticing that the channels Angel had been focusing on were blasting various types of porn shows
• A hasty tour was promptly carried out through the rest of the building. You were shown different rooms, all in various states of decay, while simultaneously meeting the other hotel inhabitants
• A fierce lady with a spear— Vaggie, as she had been introduced as —didn’t seem too up for conversation, only giving Charlie a peck on the cheek and you a suspicious glare before climbing a pair of stairs to take care of something else
• Back downstairs, the local bartender didn’t even bother to look at you, instead mumbling something under his breath while playing cards with a snake like demon
• “Don’t take it to heart. Husk is a big sweetheart, really.” Charlie waved at you with a closed eye smile, missing the way that Husk flipped her off grumpily. “And that’s Sir Pentious over there! Besides Angel Dust, and now you I guess, he’s our only guest.”
• The snake simply offered a loud and hissing hello before demanding with theatrical outrage that Husk was cheating. At least you think it was theatrical outrage. He seemed high strung either way
• But by far, the most memorable staff member you met on the tour was a tall demon with a red suit and fluffy ears; the likes of which you and Charlie had barged in on as he ate a plate of what looked like flesh. Whether animal, or something else, you couldn’t tell
• “Finally, this is our facility manager, Alastor! He helps out with all kinds of things here, and will be a key element in your redeeming process.” Your cheery guide announced. She seemed to ignore the slight tension in the air as the other member in the room smiled tightly, but the feeling disappeared as the tall demon stood up in greeting
• “Why Charlie!” Alastor’s voice crackled with heavy static, reminding you of audio from a gramophone. Or perhaps one of those old fashioned radio’s. “If I knew we were having company, I would have made myself more presentable!” He chuckled without ever looking anywhere but you
• You had to tilt your head up to look at him completely. There wasn’t a wrinkle on his suit, and every one of his hairs sat perfectly on his head. Even his monocle appeared to be freshly polished
• “Presentable.” You said slowly and without emotion, aware of Alastor’s highetened gaze on you. “Right.”
• Charlie was quick to get you to your new room after that
• It was weird, trying to fall into a rhythm with a group of people that had already become so aquatinted with one another, but you managed
• The trust exercises were cheesy and took too long, chores were a daily task for everyone, and Alastor snuck around in the shadows too much for your liking, but at least you had a place to live
• Besides. Who was to say you couldn’t make a few friends along the way?

healthcare access when you're rural, like really rural, not in town rural, is just super fucked.
like not only does the clinic have the same hole in the roof since I was fifteen, but the hospital runs on a skeleton crew. there are very few doctors, so good luck getting an appointment without driving two hours to the cities.
in my case, I live on a dirt road off a dirt road. can't even get wifi, just mobile data that only works on half the property. an ambulance takes a good thirty to forty-five minutes to get here, if there's one immediately available. our record amongst us and the others on the road was four hours, I think? there'd been a pile up so all the ambulances were busy. it makes more sense to just call my aunt, who used to be a nurse- she can generally get here in twenty, and we stay home until the last minute before driving twenty minutes to the hospital.
the quality of care sucks- they're understaffed and underfunded and overwhelmed, so it's (usually) not their fault. it's also just aggressively bizarre sometimes? when I overdosed last summer, they were playing music and I was coming in and out of consciousness to Dancing Queen and Hotel California. (sidenote: hotel california is the funniest possible song to wake up to in the emergency room after almost dying. "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" hits very different in that context.) but yeah, anyway, I've seen mice in the hospital, bugs, what is probably dozens of OSHA and building code violations. like it's scary to go to the doctor, because it's such a precarious place.
and it's crazy bad as a woman. I had no idea IUDs had those strings when I got one to regulate my wild ass period and was freaking out for months. every woman I know here just gets prescribed Zoloft for most physical issues, only to go to the cities and find out they had a cyst, or a tumor, or a disease, or whatever. the IUD was discouraged because I was eighteen and "that's the best age to have kids." mind you, I'm gay and later found out my uterus is messed up and it's unlikely I could ever carry a fetus to term if I somehow managed to get pregnant. my aunt was told she was just anxious when she was actually entering menopause, then they had the audacity to imply she was just pregnant (at 57?!) like it's total ass here as a woman.
it's in the nursing schools too- I dropped out during my clinicals for my LPN in part due to this. they had us at the same local hospital, tiny town. the nurses instructing us kept saying things like "oh the old ladies complain a lot, they're all crazy, half of them are babbling complete nonsense." and then I'd see them use ice cold water for sponge baths, or joke about letting the old women's food get cold. I had one nurse give me a heads up that I had a crazy lady with dementia who just babbled total nonsense all day. I went in and she started talking and, while I don't speak it, I know enough to know she was speaking Anishinaabemowin, the local language that a fair amount of people speak on the reservation. and it's like, number one, she should've known given it's a very distinct sounding language, and number two why did she immediately assume this woman was nuts? and then I saw the same with a lot of bilingual women with dementia, like totally dismissed. I had one woman who spoke a dialect of Yiddish I'd never heard (poland area, maybe? idk) and the look of shock and glee when I responded, even tho it was v halted bc her dialect was unfamiliar and my Yiddish sucks, made my heart stop. they'd all been there for years, and no one had thought to ask their families if they were speaking another language, or even whipped out Google translate to at least try to identify it. and not only is that bad for their mental and social health, that would be a level of hell I can't comprehend, but it's also bad for their mental health- how do we tell where their cognition is at if we don't actually check? what if they have something degenerative like Huntington's where keeping an eye on cognition is vital to treatment?
and women can't go to the doctor as often. childcare, work, family obligations, not to mention women in abusive relationships being kept home to hide it. and here, there's the gas money. every trip into town has to count, you can't be frivolous when going anywhere with a stop sign is a 40+ mile round trip. and women, of course, are more likely to be poor, and so less likely to be able to afford to go in, both due to healthcare costs (yes, I am in the US) and the travel costs, childcare, etc.

New Year, New Something That Rhymes with Year

Technically I’m still the same, but my hammock is weirdly outdoors. For the first time in years I have an outdoor area. I’m no longer trapped in a box. I hate apartments. At the same time, urban sprawl isn’t good from an environmental standpoint either. Maybe the answer lies in population reduction? I’m doing my part!
We’ve got cicadas out here in the wastelands. The floury baker cicadas are still about, the one above was intercepted from a noisy miner (Manorina melanocephala) but had catastrophic wing damage at the joint. He was laid to rest that same afternoon. Just because something can suffer, doesn’t mean it should. Rest easy little one.
We’ve also held our first barbecue without incident. My diet remains mostly vegan, thanks to reduced pressure on rent. The only big exception is salmon which will probably be replaced eventually again.
The garden though, and being able to have plants outdoors in the sunlight. What a game changer. I’ve made an active decision to let dandelions take over the buffalo grass. They mow down quite well.
Looks better than any buffalo grass I’ve ever seen. Function over form I say. When they are at full growth, they provide pollen for the bees (native and European), harbour lots of little bug jumpers, which in turn feed the lizards that roam the grass. A little sad when a common blackbird (Turdus merula) snaps up a few, but as long as I can keep the bugs plentiful the lizards should thrive.
Not everything has been rosy though. My first plant casualty, lavender. I had high hopes for it, but since I don’t really know what I am doing it kind of died. Farewell lavender.
My native beehives have been doing well, attracting a few different species of native masked bee (Genus Hylaneus) as well as native wasps (possibly Genus Pison). Both are ridiculously tiny and harmless to us.
Then you’ve got the other bugs, like the pictured assassin bug nymph, Pristhesancus plagipennis. It’s ready to drink the brains of the next honeybee that lands nearby.
And now I’m back on the Apple Watch train with my shiny new Apple Watch SE 2. This time around I’ve picked out the smaller of the two and went with the 40mm. And I have to say, I do not miss the bulk of the 44mm. The Apple Watch is a great motivator to stay on track with new year health goals.
Wait that’s not the image I was looking for… that’s more dandelions!
Whoops, that’s another floury baker cicada. I think the several that were in this tree were eaten by the local bat population as they’ve been silent for a while now.
And that’s Stumpie. Tail growth is coming along well. If I find him running about while I’m mowing the lawn I’ll move him into a lizard hotel plastic tub until I’m done.
Don’t look at me like that Stumpie. We don’t want any repeats of how you got the name Stumpie after all!
Then we’ve got this little guy still rocking about, a bar-sided skink (Concinnia tenuis). After being trapped by a redback spider (Latrodectus hasselti). Luckily for the lizard I noticed…
And here’s the data I wanted to show. Weight loss is beginning again. You might notice a drop almost immediately after becoming unemployed, then a spike to >100 kg when I ran out of money thanks to Sydney’s rental market being unaffordable for a single person – let alone an unemployed single person.
Sure, I could have killed myself easily enough but chose to do the paradigm shift thing. Is it enough of a shift? That’s still an unknown at this point. At least for now, there are real life distractions everywhere which seems to leave very little time for uploading videos. Not such a bad thing I guess. That’s not to say I haven’t been recording new footage.
Better go and check the garden is still there and get my 30 minutes of exercise in. Target weight is set at 75 kg this time around. Roughly 20 kg of weight loss to go, and while transitioning. Should be one heck of a ride. 🤷‍♀️

If ever you use a third-party booking app to book hotel accommodations, I would recommend you stay clear of Agoda. I heard the name here and there but never used them. My partner used them for some time & for the second time in Indonesia this trip. They sold us a room at a place with a 9/10 rating on location, value, etc. the price was great and he had just been upgraded in member status so he’d gotten a discount on a discount. It was a time sale too so we only had like 15 minutes to decide on the room. He’s taken care of everything so far and we’ve been enjoying our time tons. We were so excited to get a little bit of an upgrade for the week ahead in Sanur, a new city & change of pace from Ubud. We wanted a nice place to stay with a slow pace so we could still get work done (and save a bit) after staying in a party city like Kuta and a trendy area like Ubud just prior.
We get there early and have some language trouble during check-in. Cool. No problem at all. Thank god for phones and translation software. We get led to a room, any room, it seemed. The room was hot and smelled like mold. Maybe they weren’t ready for us but it just felt so like “okay just take this room”. Which like, okay fine, they probably were not expecting us yet but didn’t wanna turn us away. Again, communication issues. I understand the pressure. The guy at the front at the time (only staff member there then) gave a smile and we exchanged thank yous after all was said and done. But the room. The room smelled like it had been baking in the sun for however long until we got there and we turned on the ac. We sucked it up cuz it was just nice to not be in the sun with all our bags. But honestly the car ride there from Ubud (55min away) was more enjoyable.
The decor. Do not get me started. The furniture was made of cheap wooden particle board. Not my style for sure and definitely an eyesore as it wasn’t even smoothed or coated like maybe ikea/nitori. The bathroom shelving was made of this too. That kind of material exposed to prolonged heat, moisture & lack of airflow is nottttt good.
We wanted to let the room cool down and check out the area cuz honestly mosquitoes were enjoying us and the beach was close by, so we left for a stroll.
The location was also meh. A couple sports bars with late forty/fifty something men and a nearby local beach that was very quiet. Fine, since we were looking to relax and don’t need beach party resort vibes at all, but I was definitely wondering what we would be doing all week within walking distance since there wasn’t much and the hotel left a lot to be desired. Remember it was advertised as a 9/10. There was no communal space. There was a cute pool but it was really small and you could tell that was the focal point of all the photos from the ad we got pushed. The small pool and the room. It felt so tight. The bathroom was large but was behind a particle board door, making the bedroom area feel even more cramped. It felt like a place just to crash, not really hang or spend time. Especially for two people.
I’m not worried about safety here tooo bad compared to other places but on the other hand I’m from NY and I don’t trust anyone anywhere so like the door to our room just being a 95% glass, slide door with a curtain and a turn lock (kinda like a balcony door) and a tiny key did not feel secure. Esp with first floor access and no one at the front desk. It felt like a mailbox lock lol.
Most importantly, the room just was not comfy and there were bugs everywhere, even in the bed. After our walk which I was overdressed for, I was exhausted from the heat and sweating so much and I just plopped on the bed. By that time, the room was cooler. I wasn’t feeling well and I didn’t care about all the ants and mosquitoes and bugs or smell. I was prettt shindoi - I had had a beer while we were out & not much water. After some rest, maybe 20-30 minutes I decided I needed a shower. (That’s when I noticed the particle board door & shelves and stuff) I almost thought it was communal shower I was about to say. I did not bring my own towel this trip (mistake) and was reluctant to use theirs but I mean I had no choice besides maybe air dry, lol. (Which would have been fine but again sliding balcony door with just white! curtain to cover) - uh no.
I think we were both feeling like we wanted to leave the room again and check out the downtown area near another beach, so we got some bikes on Grab (ride sharing but on motorbike) & left. THIS area was a 9 for location and this area had wayy more shops, bars, restaurants, variety of people and was way more upbeat and scenic. The beach stretched forever and we walked for a long long time & found a good happy hour. We had pizza during sunset. The evening was setting in and we eventually made our way back to our room.
We got back, looked around and we decided to find alternative rooms to stay. Maybe I was just noticing them more than before or maybe cuz it was night, but the bugs were to the extent we thought we might not be able to sleep comfortably and were looking for alternative places because a WEEK would have not been possible. We found a room somewhere else and booked it tf out of there. (As we were getting our bags, a big ass water bug/flying cockroach tried to come into the room) and that was the last straw though my partner and I collectively had similar thoughts all day about the whole experience.
We tried to get a partial refund but we couldn’t, and I’m so mad at Agoda for selling us this room for so much money (even though it was discounted) cuz there’s no way it was worth paying for at the discounted rate never mind the usual rate. It was not a 9/10 and I would not recommend it to a friend. Like I could not even bring my mom there. My partner has asthma & dust allergy and the dust stuck in the particle board grooves of the headboard and bugs, mold etc ugh it was just too much. Dont think we will get anything back even though we were physically in the room for less than two hours. We are cutting our losses at this point. I hope they use the money for some better furnishings and bug control so no one else is tricked the way we were. It’s cool if they don’t too, but that rating system is hella flawed and my grievances are mostly with Agoda cuz we wouldn’t have stayed there otherwise/if we knew what we know now.
There’s more horror stories on Reddit and YouTube now that we had time to look into this blasted companies practices. Def doing our due diligence if we plan to use them again this trip. No time sales and double checking all bookings prior to check in.
Super happy with where we are staying now tho. So glad we even had the funds to even do so 😅
Sanur is lovely. We love it here now that we’ve seen many more sides of it 😂

We are back in the interrogation room, where the interrogator is not interested in how we got to Cloges and the Pauderna would have not been stolen had aliens not been brought in for security. He wants to skip on to Astosis taking responsibility. Astosis, however, reminds he doesn't get to press the [Skip] button, and says he needs to continue with the questioning.

Back to the story, Husband #5 talks about the purpose of the Luna festival we are acting as security for. Cloge is a town that preserves the tradition of tailoring garments, with craftsmen continue the tradition for generations which has recently attracted the attention of other stars. However, the recent influx of tourism over the past 50 years have caused a lot of tensions for the townsfolk since some took advantage of their naivety. Particularly, there are issues (due to cultural misunderstandings) and Astosis supsected outside villains may show up. Since Chassader doesn't have much experience in combating villains, outside heroes and Operators were needed to deal with the problem (fight fire with fire). The dress that will be displayed at the ball, the Pauderna, is highly valuable from a cultural and historical context. As a result, access to the ball is restricted via invitation, so our job is to monitor the ball as guests.

Maculata is super excited to get up close and personal to the dress, and also comments on how composed and refined Astosis is. Yohack says he's always been that way ever since they were young, always able to complete tasks in a highly efficient manner which makes him dependable and a go-to for the townsfolkd.

We then get to the town of Cloge, where the celebration looks VERY similar to Halloween on Earth. Yohack, said the feeling is mutual as he was suprised how similar Halloween was to the Luna festival. Maculata explains how it's different from the last time she visited when a dress immediately catches her attention. With Asotis blessing, she forces brings us along to look at it up close, when we encounter somebody else admiring the attention to detail.

It's Nessen and he's dressed like he just listened to My Chemical Romance for the first time. He's surprised to see us here and asked if we are sightseeing as well. Maculata interrupts and greets Nessen who sings high praises of his hotel's hot spring. This catches the attention of our Attorney, who asks to be introduced. Nessen and he introduce themselves to each other and Astosis does request if he can rely on Nessen in case of emergency. Nessen gladly agrees, adn Yochack asks if he is sightseeing as well. Nessen has been taking notes as he is getting ideas for holiday themes for his hotel. Despite having to deal with the Eldritch Horror Tree, the Christmas theme was a resounding success, and I'm not saying that because of a certain drunk. He came to gather information from the locals about their traditions and thoughts on the festival.

Astosis fills in some information about the festival. They call their star Luna, just like Eart calls the moon Luna. As to this coincidence, the writers are too lazy to think it through, so we're going with the "it's a mystery" copout. Once a year, Luna is visible for everyone to see, on the years that Luna is seen in full are particularly special. The themes and designs are focused to primarily on celebrating Luna, by highlighting the dark night that complements it. However, we get back to network access is highly restricted, which is why Astosis requested local support. The reason for this was bugs were introduced by outsiders that almost wrecked havoc to Cloge's ecosytem. As a result, Cloge is hesistant about who can and cannot enter and built Chassard as a means of not relying on outsiders unless absolutely neccessary. Astosis pulls out an invitation to the ball and presents it Nessen with the request to guard us in the event he needs to leave us.

Maculata then gets back to the significance of Pauderna (or w/e the official spelling is [Blame the translator]. Yohack//sign gladly tells us about it. The dress was a masterpiece made 200 years ago in the year Luna was fully in display. Pauderna also means "Luna's skin" in the Cloge's native tongu. Maculata is even more revved up to analyze every stitch of the dress and Asostis mentions that though it holds artistic and cultural value to Cloge citizens, if it really is that beautiful to outsiders. Maculata says that the attention to detail, the glistening reminiscing of moonlight is coveted by all fashion designers. Maculata is the Arachne of Live a Hero confirmed ( I would love an AR of those 2 together)

Unfortunatley our Fashionista crossover fantasy is interrupted by villains who are running away with stolent goods. We get Nessen to sign a contract and transform to fight them off. You can complement both Asostis and Yohack on their outfits and both are flattered. After taking them out and into custody, Astosis unfortunately has to leave us and Yohack continues the tour.
Unbeknownst to our merry group of travelers, the mob units have been getting smarter and actually hired a bodyguard who is

Personally, I am very happy to hear this henficncj 🥹
Okay okay, so first tip; go to any historic city/places, eg. Dubrovnik! - stunning place, really cool. If you like the sea, Dalmacija is deffinetely for you!
Mind you, as a tourist - expect prices to be very high especally in some places n there is a fhance that a local well get something lets say for eg. for 2 Euros while you could get it for 3.15 Euros. Thats what people in Croatia do, they make the prices much bigger just for tourists.
Rijeka is also a nice city too, but somewhere in Dalmacija or Istra is a better option, in my opinion! (And Im from Rijeka)
If you do go, make sure to get something like an anit bug spray or something similar as we have sooo many mosquitos here 😭
Also I do advise to get an Air B&B as I think the price would deffinetely be much more cheaper then a hotel. As well, do not come in August. The whole country just REEKS of tourists n crowds. Rather come in the early summer (June or July) or if you can, come in September - the latest part of summer. As of now, its still hot as hell n you can still swim n all of that!
But wherever you decide to go, please do go to the historic parts of it! You can find out alot about our history n I personally love it! Make sure to try Čevape and other classic meals too! If you go to somewhere in Istra that is close to the place Labin, make sure to go to Labin - they have amazing pizzas there!

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day.
Welcome to the working week although, for those of you working in the NHS, welcome to just another day.
Friday night was pretty chilled. It was too hot to do anything, really! The Americans think we’re mad for not having air-conditioning in our homes but, realistically, how often is the weather like this? I sleep naked and, on Thursday and Friday night, it was so hot, I didn’t even bother getting under the duvet!
Many thanks to everyone that listened to ‘The A-Z Of Mi-Soul Music’ live or listened to the recording on Mixcloud. Most people were probably thinking, “How the hell is he going to fill two hours with The Letter Q?” Well, as it goes, it was a really good blend of tunes! Hope you enjoyed it? Straight after the show, I caught some hot, sweaty underground trains to Camden Town. I didn’t know where the Mi-Soul stage was. I thought to myself, “I’ll just follow the music.” I needn’t have worried. Came out of the tube station and the Mi-Soul stage was right there! Camden Council had shut off Camden High Street for the day. Drivers must have been properly upset! Anyway, who cares about them? Big-up to Camden Council for pedestrianizing the whole area for the day!
The Mi-Soul stage was killing it, as usual! When I got there, just before 5.00, it was still 32 degrees but people were consuming lots of fluids and having a good time. By the time I finished my set, I was done for the day and most of the crowd looked knackered too! Well, they had been drinking and dancing for seven hours! I trudged wearily to Camden Road and caught my train home. Thankfully, my son had made a ton of ‘finger good’ (spring rolls, goujons, fried shrimp, sausage rolls etc.) which I gobbled down greedily and immediately fell asleep!
Didn’t watch the England v. Ukraine game. No West Ham players in the squad. What’s the point?
Congratulations to Ezra Collective for picking up the Mercury Prize 2023. Every school should have music classes, so that kids can catch the music-making bug and hopefully become as good as these brilliant young musicians. The other thing I love above Ezra Collective is they are genuinely genre-defying. You could try to put them in a jazz bag but that would totally be ignoring the funk, salsa, soca and afrobeat. Don’t stream their music! Buy a vinyl or CD album, so the band make some money!
Sunday was brilliant! The Trouble was out at a local craft fair selling jewellery. My son took The Mighty Josiah to a cool, garden party. I had the house to myself. Love that! I made lunch, watched a movie, then got on with some marking. I actually hope to be finished my marking by Tuesday evening so, when I get to the hotel, I can just eat, sleep and swim!

A soldier's love story.
A/n: This is my attempt at trying to make a love story with you and könig

Y/N was a skilled and fearless operator who had joined the KorTac unit to fight against the Legion, a ruthless terrorist organization that threatened global peace. She had been on many dangerous missions, but none as challenging as the one she was about to embark on. She had been assigned to infiltrate the Legion's base in Al-Mazrah, a war-torn region in the Middle East, and gather intel on their plans and weapons. She had to go alone, as backup was too risky and conspicuous.
She arrived at the drop zone and parachuted down to the ground. She quickly hid her parachute and made her way to the nearest village, where she hoped to blend in with the locals and avoid detection. She wore a hijab and a long dress, and carried a concealed pistol and a knife. She knew she had to be careful and smart, as the Legion had eyes and ears everywhere.
She walked through the dusty streets, looking for a place to stay for the night. She spotted a small hotel that seemed decent enough, and entered the lobby. She approached the receptionist, who greeted her in Arabic.
"Hello, I need a room for one night." She said in Arabic, hoping her accent was convincing enough.
"Of course, miss. That will be 50 dollars." The receptionist said, smiling.
She handed him the money and received a key. He pointed her to the stairs and wished her a good night.
She climbed up the stairs and found her room. She opened the door and entered. She locked the door behind her and scanned the room. It was small and simple, with a bed, a dresser, a TV, and a bathroom. She checked for any bugs or cameras, but found none. She sighed in relief and put her backpack on the bed. She opened it and took out her laptop and satellite phone. She turned them on and contacted her handler.
"Y/N, this is KorTac HQ. Do you copy?" A voice said through the phone.
"I copy, HQ. This is Y/N. I'm at the hotel." She said.
"Good. How was your landing?" The voice asked.
"Smooth. No problems." She said.
"Excellent. What's your next move?" The voice asked.
"I'm going to scout the area tomorrow and look for an entry point to the Legion's base. I'll report back when I have something." She said.
"Understood. Be careful out there, Y/N. You're our only hope." The voice said.
"I will, HQ. Over and out." She said.
She hung up the phone and closed her laptop. She put them back in her backpack and hid it under the bed. She decided to take a shower before going to sleep. She grabbed a towel and entered the bathroom.
She stripped off her clothes and turned on the faucet. She stepped into the shower and let the warm water wash over her body. She felt tense and tired from the long flight and
the stress of her mission. She tried to relax and clear her mind, but she couldn't help thinking about what awaited her tomorrow.
She finished her shower and wrapped herself in the towel. She dried herself off and put on some fresh clothes from her backpack. She brushed her teeth and combed her hair. She looked at herself in the mirror and gave herself a pep talk.
"You can do this, Y/N. You're strong, smart, brave, and beautiful. You've trained for this your whole life. You're not afraid of anything or anyone. You're going to get in there, get what you need, get out alive, and save the world." She said to herself.
She smiled at her reflection and nodded confidently. She turned off the light and left the bathroom.
She walked back to the bed and pulled back the covers. She got in and snuggled under the sheets. She reached for the remote control on the nightstand and turned on the TV. She flipped through some channels, looking for something to watch before falling asleep.
She stopped at a music channel that was playing some of König's songs. König was another KorTac operator who was famous for being a singer as well as a soldier. He had millions of fans around the world who loved his dark and haunting voice that sang about war, love, pain, and hope.
Y/N was one of those fans too. She had always admired König for his talent, his courage, his charisma, his mystery...and his looks. He was tall and handsome, with piercing blue eyes and jet-black hair that he usually hid under a sniper hood that covered his face from view. He wore a black leather jacket and jeans, and a silver chain around his neck that had a pendant with his name on it.
Y/N had never met König in person, but she had seen him on TV, on the internet, and on posters. She had heard his voice on the radio, on her phone, and in her dreams. She had a crush on him, but she knew it was hopeless. He was a star, and she was just a soldier. He probably didn't even know she existed.
She sighed and watched the TV screen, where König was singing one of his hit songs, "Bulletproof". She listened to the lyrics and felt a connection to them.
"I've been shot at, stabbed, burned, and bruised
But I'm still standing, I'm still fighting, I'm still alive
I've been betrayed, hurt, lied to, and used
But I'm still trusting, I'm still loving, I'm still fine

She closed her eyes and imagined that König was singing to her, that he was telling her that he felt the same way as she did. That he was strong, brave, and unbreakable. That he was also lonely, scared, and vulnerable. That he needed someone to love him and protect him. That he wanted her.
She smiled and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of König.

In any case, someone has erected signs around the Wailing Woods that say "Leave the moose alone. Do not approach. Go to the library or museum instead. There is no yogurt here for you. Stay hydrated. Goodbye."
Scared by everyone it encounters, the Trash Dribbler has taken refuge in a specific dumpster in Oldtown. If you want to find it, you can follow the sound of its crying.
If you've been hanging around Masque of the Red Eye at all this past week, you've probably heard local vampire Rupert Pennyworth tell tales of an underwater ship graveyard he discovered on a deep swim this past week. Most have written it off as another tall-tale from the hyperbolic vampire, but local cryptid enthusiasts have started making theories about a Drowned Ship Garden. Theories range from Wormy starting the collection to a local orca pod attacking boats in a specific region. Whether or not it's real, of it anyone else can find and live to tell the tale, is not entirely clear.

I guess to clarify for people who might be confused about why getting a book wet is immediately us charging you for it we cannot put water damaged books back on our shelves! The reason for this is because even if you Think that shits dry there is definitely still water in there and we live in an incredibly humid environment which means that book is now prime spot for mold growth and I think it's pretty obvious that we can just have a mold hotel sitting on our shelves
Gonna go on another PSA now if you're planning on donating books to a library anytime soon for the love of god please don't give us anything with an odor (mildew, cigarettes, etc) or anything with stuff growing on it or a ton of bugs in it, or please don't give us your priceless antiques unless it is immediately relevant to the local history of your area or you know your library specializes in historical artifacts, because I assure you if you donate this shit we're throwing it away! People always become so scandalized about throwing books out but it's that or let mold grow on our free shelves so

                                                        CAMP HOLLOW EVENT
Summer in Redwood Hollow is shaping up to be as eventful as it is hot. Forecasts for July predict an uncharacteristically hot summer in the area (something to do with weird air currents or something. Maybe you saw that weird lightning a few weeks back?) In spite of the heat, the town is in full bloom, bustling with tourists and college kids enjoying their much-deserved time off.
Now, Redwood natives and full time residents are no stranger to tourists, but this year it seemed everyone got the memo about the amazing weather and decided to set up shop in the hotels and Airbnbs. If you’re local, you might be thinking “Hey, wouldn’t it be nice to get away for a while?” But you’ve left it too last minute, and you don’t want to pass up on the great, rare weather surge.
Well, you needn’t look further than your own backyard. Ray Bug and Sunny Scamsalot have proposed the genius idea for locals who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of town life, without having the hassle of travel.
That’s right! CAMP HOLLOW is here, geared specifically toward residents and natives of Redwood Hollow. (This year, Camp Hollow will be running two separate weeks; one for the kids, and one for the grown up kids at heart. Anyone over the age of 18 can attend the latter.) It will be a jam-packed week of camping, outdoor activities and singing Kumbaya round open fires, right here in our very own woodlands. If you wish to sign up for CAMP HOLLOW you can speak to Ray Bug down at Bug Family Boat Tours or Sunny Scamsalot (wherever he’s set up shop) to get involved.
DID YOU KNOW? CAMP HOLLOW originated as a summer camp in Redwood Hollow in 1979, geared toward local kids and teens looking for something to do during the summer break. It closed up shop in 1996 due to a freak weather accident that flattened surrounding trees and took out three of the cabins. (No one was hurt, thankfully, but the community was shook and sign up numbers the following year were too low to continue.)

A sign-up sheet for character involvement is to follow, similar to the Speed Dating event. Your characters can sign up to be involved in the running of the camp with Ray, Sunny and Kronk, as well as competitions and other activities if they are not an organiser. Tents and Cabins will be assigned at random for the shenanigans.
 An OOC information post will be made closer to the event start date with more details for players, and will be linked in the source once posted. This event will take place between Friday 8th and Sunday 24th of July OOC.

Bali for Christmas and NYE
Bali has long been known for it's warm weather, friendly locals, dazzling beach clubs and cheap but delicious food. It has been, and still is, a favourite destination for many Australians due to these reasons, and the fact that Bali is very close and the flight is very short.
Since I lived in the Middle East for most of my 20's, it never really crossed my mind to visit Bali on a proper vacation, as Europe was closer, and so that was where I mainly went in my leisure time. I did go once on vacation in 2017 with my parents, and it was nothing short of amazing, but I hadn't visited since then unless it was a short 20 hour layover with the airline I was working for.
This time, I went with my partner and some of his family, so there was quite a big group of us. The first week we stayed at a beautiful resort built in the late 80's called Merusaka, originally called INAYA Putri Bali, and we were there for Christmas. The first week consisted of lots of beach walks, margaritas by the pool, reading, working out, and for Christmas - a big luxurious lunch at the beautiful St Regis Bali. The only complaint any of us had was that air conditioning was not working in our rooms as it should, so we were often sweating in our hotel rooms! However, the resort's staff were always smiling and ready to assist, the pools were clean and a good temperature, the food and drink was all included and had a great variety, and the beach was in close proximity to the resort, so daily walks were very enticing.
Nusa Dua is best for: relaxing at your resort and/or spending your days at the beach, as it isn't too heavy on nightlife or partying (that's not to say that you can't do those things in Nusa Dua).
The second week, we spent at a gorgeous villa in the heart of Canggu, which I'll be making a seperate post about as it amongst the nicest accommodation I've ever stayed at! We stayed directly across from Finns Beach Club, and the biggest beach club in the world (or so they say) Atlas Beach Club, but luckily we couldn't hear the loud music as we slept in our luxurious queen bed. Also, the air conditioning was set to a perfect 18 degrees, so entering the room was the most refreshing and satisfying feeling, and made it so ideal for sleeping. Canggu, like Nusa Dua, is great for beach goers, as well as those who love to party. I'm not quite the party girl anymore (I did most of that in my early-mid 20's), but I appreciated the variety of things to see and do in the beautiful coastal village. I got hooked on coconut water and pampering myself, and didn't drink as much alcohol as I anticipated. However, this was due to the food poisoning, Bali belly, or stomach bug (I still don't know what it was) that I got while I was over there. I never felt so sick - vomiting violently all throughout the night after a week of being nauseous. And that really, was the only downside of my week in Canggu.
Canggu is best for: nightlife, boutique shops, trendy cafes/restaurants, and surf.
In conclusion: my two week holiday to Bali was fulfilling - I got to unwind and relax, get pampered (Bali massages are not to miss), eat great food, learn more about the Balinese culture and people, and just switch off from reality back home.
Next on the blog: I will be talking about my stunning villa in Canggu, which I cannot stop going on about to this day!
