Steve taking That Roadtrip but it's with the group instead of "6 little Harringtons"
characters: Steve, Eddie, Robin, Nancy, Jonathan, Lucas, Max, Will, Mike, Dustin, Eleven, and Erica!! Woooh!
t/w: none! no reader mentioned. [800 words]
a/n: i wrote this as a fix-it fic sorta. Max is okay, eddie is alive, and everyone's safe. Steve gets his dream but in the way he needs. short, but i needed to get the idea out of my head. i don't really ship Nancy and Jonathan but for the purpose of this, they're together. didn't include argyle, sorry :(
They rent an old camper trailer and buy 3 tents.
El, Max, and Erica stay in one tent while Lucas, Mike, Will, and Dustin stay in another. Jonathan and Nancy get a tent set up a bit of a distance away for privacy but close enough to keep an eye on the kids. Eddie and Steve get one bed of the camper while Robin gets the other.
Waking up every morning to Eddie lightly strumming an acoustic guitar in just sweatpants and a messy bun. The sun is streaming through the open windows in long rays, lighting the camper in an orange-y glow that calms his nerves. He feels safe here.
Breakfast is cooked over the fire. Steve nearly burns it while arguing with Robin over something that doesn't matter in the slightest. Nancy takes over the cooking from there with Jonathan helping.
Going on "nature walks" after breakfast– aka Eddie's smoke breaks.
Dustin keeps running ahead of the group to explore the forest. He's upset he couldn't have contact with Suzie in the middle of the forest, but he was able to talk to her before leaving.
Mike and El hold hands the entire time. El's quiet, still getting over the events of Vecna, but Mike does his best to pull her from her head and back to the present. It took a lot to convince Hopper to let them take this trip, and Mike won't allow any of it to go to waste.
Jonathan takes pictures of everything. Brought enough rolls of film to last months. Takes pictures of the trees, lake, his friends. He wants to remember everything, and to make sure he'll have proof of them having fun if Will ever gets taken over again.
Lucas and Max spend most of their waking hours bickering, but it's harmless. Lucas spends a lot of time touching Max in some way (holding hands, putting an arm over her shoulder, nudging her). He's afraid this is a dream and needs reassurance she's okay.
Robin worries about poison ivy and packed an entire suitcase of medical supplies, but doesn't know how to use any of it except the basics.
Erica and Will discuss DnD, going over battle strategies. Eddie joins in, hoping he can convince Will to attend a Hellfire meeting, even if its only once. Erica aids in convincing Will its fun, and he'll be surrounded by "nerds" so he'll be welcomed.
After the walk, you go swimming in the lake right behind the camper. Max and El sit on the shore gossiping and giggling while the boys splash around in the water. Eddie's standing on the water's edge watching everyone until he jumps in, splashing everyone in a nearby radius. Steve and Robin are floating some feet away from everyone, taking in the chance to relax. Nancy and Jonathan are walking in the shallow water, discussing how nice it is to get away, for everyone.
Once the sun starts to set, everyone heads to the campground where Steve built a makeshift fire pit out of a couple stones. Eddie shows everyone how to build a proper fire, after noticing Steve struggling. His dad taught him when he was younger, but never tells anyone when they ask. "Boy scouts," he waves off.
They all make smores and tell stories. Some spooky (Eddie), but most so funny it had them all in tears by the end.
The crickets are so loud and the moon is creating a beautiful glow above in a star-studded sky. No one wants to move or say anything for a while. Just taking in the crackling fire and the love surrounding them.
Half an hour later, Max and El are singing at the top of their lungs with Dustin rolling his eyes but giggling along. Mike, Lucas, and Will join in the singing.
Eddie grabs his guitar and plays along to the melodies which riles up the group. They're dancing, singing, and laughing. Jonathan and Nancy spend some time trying to get them to calm down until giving up and joining in.
By the end of the night, everyone's so tired, they're practically dragging their feet to their designated sleeping spots.
Steve wakes up in the middle of the night and has to get out of bed to check on everyone. He still isn't okay after Vecna, and constantly needs to be aware of his friends'. No one says a word when he does this, just assures him they're safe (if they're awake). He'll head back into the camper where he'll finally unwrap his scars in privacy and clean them.
Robin learns to trust her balance a bit more while hiking. She falls a few times a lot but she's giddy with excitement by the end, despite being covered in bruises and some cuts. Max cleans up her cuts while talking about movies and music.
Will opens up a bit more. At first it goes slow, he's reserved and picks his words carefully. By the end, Mike knows everything that's ever been kept quiet over the last few years.
The trip lasts 3 nights, and 4 days. It's the kind of trip that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives, and can't pick a favorite part. It was a much-needed break. One that ended too soon, but also at the perfect time.

*opens my purple coffin* Ayyy, I'm back from the dead!! Four weeks later and I'm finally here. Back on my bullshit. With more Sims 4 content that caters only to me and a few of my friends XDDD
A lot happened since my last update. I got sick (shocker) the first day after coming back to work after the winter break. During that time I realised I didn't miss it at all. The students are dumb as always, the pay is bad as always, I have a lot of work that I have to take home and can't have a break from... as always. This is horrible, fuck this job. I'm not married to my work so I decided to quit!! And, as a proper DND character, I rolled the die and chose something completely out of my expertise - being a croupier in a casino. I'll be starting in two weeks time once the contract at my school ends!! I'm excited but I still have no clue how I landed this job with my piss-poor experience; I mean, all I know is being an English teacher XDDD It was definitely the English studies... Must be the English. Keep your fingers crossed I do well there, please!!
As for the Owls, I really missed my Soft Boy, his hot alien wife, and their small green beans!! While toddlers are still as boring as ever, I quite enjoy them walking around in their cute frog onesies (or without them, as seen in one pic) and being curious about the house in general. The room is still a WIP but Hieronim and Baltazar have plenty of toys to keep them occupied for now. When they grow older, they'll get new furniture to liven up the place. These screenshots are from late November 2022*, actually, so I'll have a chance to look at the house again with a fresh eye!! Also, I aged up the newborns before the toddlers update so they still suffer from pudding face syndrome (the Sims 3 players will know what I'm talking about). I hope to see improvement with the next generation.
I've been so obsessed with the bunnies-anything in this game; rugs, sculptures, toys (love that BIG unlockable one), drawings. I don't know where it came from, I just fell in love with the Cottage Living rabbits and their function in-game. I love befriending them, I love naming them, I love giving them presents (and getting some in return) - they're just fantastic!! This pack was pretty solid in general, I really enjoy the gameplay aspects of it - there's a sufficient number of things I can indulge in, and I'm still discovering new fun bits I missed until now. I'm always late to buying packs because I'll never pay full prices for them!! So sometimes I won't remember every single piece of trivia about each pack. And, surprisingly, there's not as much chłopomania present XDDD Anyway, a good pack to have.
So, that will be all for now. No grand news regarding the Owls themselves - they're just a happy family at the top of the... mountain? and it's all that matters. To be fair, I was more concerned about my own life than about the game, haha!! Just like I said. We're back to happy times, though, so you may expect new crazy stories from my new job!! Oh, and I also bought Werewolves recently, so I'm excited for that too!! Monsterfuckers, unite <3

Tell us about your ocs!! I'm genuinely curios bc of the tags
Tumblr media
[ID: Meme of Hatsune Miku smiling. Top text reads "Thanks for sending me a message". Bottom text reads "You're very cute and I will be replying to you".]
Robin "Robbie" Fuller: The character i play in a DND campaign.
they/them pronouns. they're nonbinary and asexual and don't care to label their romantic attraction.
They're 22 years old and 5'9" (175cm)
Their birthday is November 12th. they're a scorpio
They started off as a Mundane MOTW character and they're now a level 7 warlock in DND. They're a human
They live in a small coastal town in massachusetts called Holyoak and they go to the local college to learn culinary. They live in a single dorm and they have a cute widdle black cat named Chickadee
One day (for various reasons) their life was flip-turned upside down with discovering the existence of monsters, portals, different dimensions, and rifts in spacetime
One of the reasons for them discovering all of this was them meeting a man named Thomas who's a human from a different dimension called the Palisades. He's a well-known Judge over there. (Thomas is @bevtastic 's character)
Robbie gets an offer to join the Interdimensional Defence Agency (IDA), says fuck it and accepts, and Robbie and Thomas stay friends by virtue of their similar jobs.
Robbie is tasked to go to a different dimension (A half-medieval half-wild west desert town called Argyle) to stop a threat that was growing there. Threat turned out to be a massive mind-controlling dragon who wanted revenge for the rest of her dragon species that were killed off by medieval "heroes". Robbie was not cut out for this as their first job. They (with help) subdue the dragon eventually but not before she burned down multiple towns including Argyle to a crisp. Robbie feels very bad about this.
Robbie, Thomas, and the rest of the party receive a mysterious letter leading them to an old abandoned mansion in Holyoak and get roped into a rescue mission to save Thomas's old friend Percy who has apparently been bodysnatched by a bad guy and trapped somewhere for what felt like thousands of years. This is the arc where we switched from Monster of the Week to DND, and Robbie gets connected to a nature deity Adelaide through a purple necklace. They also get a familiar, who is an owl with pitch-black feathers and glowing yellow pupilless eyes that Robbie named Mr. Muffins.
Robbie and Thomas become very good friends :)
Thomas dies.
Robbie goes to the Palisades to find out what happened to him. Turns out he wanted to reveal the secret of interdimensional travel to the public and work to make it open, free, and safe. The people in charge did not allow him to do this by legal means so he aimed to do it illegally, which was when he was murdered by a group of bandits.
On top of that, one of the main reasons why he wanted to reveal the different dimensions is because there is a HUGE interdimensional threat coming our way, and we need to act on it if we want to live.
Percy finds Robbie and asks them to help with this threat, who apparently is a singular person named Siris that has been locked in a prison for thousands of years and somehow got out. Robbie doesn't have much of a choice and accepts.
In the Palisades, there are monsters called Behemoths. they emerge from people who get bitten by a behemoth or who touch the black tar-like substance that runs like rivers in certain areas of the Palisades. During a battle, Robbie gets bitten by a Behemoth, and now they're a candidate for Behemism (aka turning into big giant monster syndrome).
Because Robbie has Behemism and Siris is part of the reason for Behemism existing, they're mind roommates now. Robbie and Siris do not get along very well.
There's more to Robbie but this is their main backstory!!!
Tumblr media
[ID: a drawing of Robbie holding a chrysanthemum. They have short pink curly hair, and they're wearing a yellow floral button-up and a purple necklace. They have bandages on their freckled face and they're looking down at the chrysanthemum with a neutral expression.]
Emile Azarel: A character i play in a different campaign that does MOTW.
He/him pronouns, he's trans, demisexual, and demiromantic.
He's 19 and he's 5'3
He doesn't know his actual birthday but the day he celebrates is January 23rd
His MOTW class is The Expert. He's a fire genasi
He was born in central Russia but he doesn't know his parents well because when he was ~8 months old there was a big monster attack that unfortunately killed his parents. A monster hunter named Avery Azarel found Emile, took him in and raised him.
Emile learned to hunt monsters with Avery and the two traveled around together as monster hunters.
Eventually Emile wished to have a solid place to live rather than constantly traveling, because he wanted friends. He found a town in the pacific northwest called Salmon Peak that had everything he wanted: Russian culture, a fairly small easy-to-get-around layout, and some very weird mysteries going on. (Just because Emile wanted to settle didnt mean he wanted to stop monster hunting!)
He moved to Salmon Peak and has met a bunch of new friends! He's also learning more and more about the town, which is turning out to be somehow even weirder than he expected.
Emile is a very sweet, polite boy, but considering the fact that he's only ever been around one person mainly for his entire life, he has a bit of a ways to go when it comes to interacting with people. The monster hunting life means that when there's a monster, you kill it and that usually solves all your problems. Emile has transferred this logic to people as well (if they're a monster, kill em!) and he's learning through friend influence that maybe human lives are a bit more sacred than that.
His favorite color is blue because he loves the sky!
A lot of people underestimate his skills because he's little and looks very young, but he is a very good monster hunter. Because of Avery (the best monster hunter in the biz), his last name has a bit of a reputation.
Emile is blind, autistic, and has vitiligo!
I have much more planned for Emile but I can't say it here because it is MAJOR spoilers!
Tumblr media
[ID: a drawing of Emile walking forward. He is wearing a blue shirt with stars on it, blue jeans, a fluffy white jacket, a belt with a star on it, star earrings, a moon necklace, and black shoes. His blue hair is swaying behind him and he's holding a white cane with a red tip. He's smiling slightly.]
Avery Azarel: Emile's parent! I've not played them as a character yet but I've made a character sheet for them.
they/them pronouns. They're agender, aromantic, and pansexual
their age is (???) and their height is 5'7
they have a birthday but nobody knows when it is
Their MOTW class is The Chosen. they appear human
They're widely considered the best monster hunter in the biz. Their name is well-known and they're requested for help all around the world
Because of this, they're constantly traveling and having a house would not make sense. They just pack their things, stay at motels/hotels/etc., camp in the woods and move around to wherever people need them.
Since they've been pretty much everywhere, they always seem to know at least one person from each town. They never seem to get too close to anyone, though
They are fluent in many different languages!
In the past they were paired up with another monster hunter and they made a great duo. That was a couple decades ago; they go solo now.
Years ago, an unexpected and incredibly destructive monster rampaged a small town in Central Russia. Avery came as fast as they could (they were nearby in the area) but they still couldn't finish off the beast before it tore the whole town to shreds. Dozens of homes were crushed, but surprisingly most people survived, with the exception of a couple of people who died under the rubble. Avery felt awful (this was their biggest failure in a while), and as they were searching through the rubble for any more casualties they found little baby Emile, miraculously unscathed. They took him in and raised him from then on.
Nobody, not even Emile, knows very many details about Avery's childhood, their family, their age, or really any information about them. (Emile has been trying to figure out Avery's birthday for AGES so they can celebrate, but Avery has refused to budge)
Their main weapon is 2 pairs of bolas! those are those chains with 2 balls on either end, usually made to be thrown at people's legs to restrain and trip them. they use the bolas both as restraining tools and as their main weapon, because i think weapons where you spin them really fast in front of you are cool
There's a scar over their left eye; whenever someone asks how they got it they always spin a different elaborate tale of an epic monster battle. Nobody knows which (if any) is the true story
there is a WHOLE LOT that I am leaving out if you couldn't tell. There's a huge chunk of their past that I'm leaving out because it's all a big bundle of spoilers. Someday I will be able to elaborate more on Avery!
Tumblr media
[ID: a picrew made by djarn of Avery. They're smiling, their head is tilted slightly, and there's a scar over their left eye. Their hair is tied half-up half-down. They're wearing a black shirt with "òwó" on it and a blue jacket with an aromantic flag pin and a pansexual flag pin. the background is an agender flag.]
These are my main OC's! I have more (Orion, Nottwyrm, "Noodlearms", etc.) but these 3 are the main ones that I post about. :3 thank u for asking!!!
If you have any questions about any of my characters I always welcome asks!!! 💖

Another romance fantasy?  You betcha!
And this one is inspired by my new ~sword~
So since I’ve stopped suppressing these when they bubble to the surface apparently, I thought I’d talk a bit about this one that I’ve had for at least a year now floating around up in my head.  I don’t think about it very often but whoooo boy when I do~~
Anyway so y’all know how I’m into DnD and how I’m interested in LARPing and jazz?  Well!  I feel like a fun meet-cute could totally happen at one of these events you know?  Like, picture it: I’m dressed in some crappy handmade Renn Faire thing and my character interacts with this other character who is in a kit that he’s clearly been curating for a while, and we kinda just start flirting in-character?  And our characters start hanging around one another through the plot and then after the game is over we keep chatting and then,,, it goes from there :)
I realize that I never go anywhere with these, but I think my favorite part is the actual first meeting, you know?  Like after that, it’s just a plain old romance, but it’s fun to dream up different scenarios of how that romance could start because there are so many wayysss.
(or maybe it’s because I’ve never actually experienced romance so all I can really think of is how the meeting could go to get there but I literally can not fathom what comes next)
Oh and speaking of romance, my literature-friend’s crush sucks.  That guy that she’s been liking for ages and who she kissed a few weeks ago?  Yeah, well, not only was she freaking out about the fact that her crush kissed her (which is perfectly valid), but he was being really distant with her these past couple of weeks which is just an awful thing to do.  Messing with someone’s head like that.  Anyway we no longer support and unless he’s got a good excuse I hope she drops that crush like it’s hot.
Um, I don’t have a segue, but, uh... yeah.
Think about it: exactly a year ago, this was all just a game.  On Friday the thirteenth I picked my sister up from school since I was home as a result of all Friday uni classes (and my exam) being cancelled the day before.  We got some ice cream and listened to Beyonce in the car.  The line was packed full of high schoolers, and I remember joking to my sister about how they weren’t practicing keeping their distance very well.  It was fairly warm out, and I feel like I was wearing my Ravenclaw jacket.  I knew half of the kids in line, but I didn’t acknowledge them.  I wasn’t a high schooler anymore, and I was/am awkward.
No masks back then.  Just excitement about my shiny two-week spring break and the novelty of living through a pandemic.  I didn’t know what that would entail back then.
Living through history is so rarely glamorous, I think.  Most of notable history is immensely depressing.  I suppose I should know, now.  A year of isolation, a summer of protests, a tumultuous election, and online landscape that makes politics more polarized than ever (and I certainly can’t say that I’m immune either).  All of that on top of the personal troubles... it gets to be a lot.
Ugh you know the more I think about it the more I want to go away this summer.  I know it’s unlikely to happen, but I really really really really really feel like I need to put some distance between me and my home state again.  Especially since I’ve been stuck in the house for a year now.  I also really want to try giving content creation a go in my free time.  Making a brand, of sorts, just for a summer.  Because, why not, you know?  I’m black and I’m charismatic, I could do it, right?  (Though, I also have/had a tendency to minimize my online footprint to an extreme extent mostly because I’m afraid of humiliating myself online, but!  I’ve learned through tiktok and the acapella app (which,,,,,,,, as fun as those are to make, I will be taking down or privating the videos on that account if I start doing content creation “seriously” for obvious reasons (ahem, avoiding embarrassment)) that I actually don’t mind making a fool of myself as long as either a) no one I know is watching or b) the few people who are watching are very close friends and I’ve humiliated myself in front of them already.)
Actually, I wanna talk about that outside of the parentheses.  I haven’t posted a photo on instagram in... oh, three years?  And I’ve only the one photo on my profile.  I’m tagged in far more photos than I’ve actually posted.  I just really really don’t like posting pictures of myself for some reason?  I might’ve mentioned this before, but I feel like I’d be the type of person to obsess over “like” numbers and things like that unless I made the conscious decision not to.  But on tik tok?  I have an audience of three (my dancer, photo, and bassoon-friends) people who I know and who know me, and I’m not posting for anyone but myself.  I post videos that were fun to make or that make me laugh, and if my friends happen to see them and like them, awesome!  If not, that’s okay too!  It’s literally just me being silly on the stage of an empty operahouse, and I love it.  I don’t feel the... pressure that I felt whenever I used to even think about posting something on Instagram.  And I think part of it is that I don’t really know most of the people who follow me on instagram all that well which is the whole reason why, I think, insta became so staged, you know?  And... well.  Most of this just feels like rambly nonsense doesn’t it?  Am I even making any sense?
Speaking of making sense and self-esteem, I think one of the biggest reasons why I haven’t called a therapist despite deciding that I wanted to ages ago is that right now I feel fine.  And like, thinking about it, this is the time when I probably should call a therapist.  Not when I’m in crisis, but when I’m just far enough removed that I can begin developing the right strategies for coping and such whenever crisis happens upon me again.  When I’m out of crisis and can begin productively working toward minimizing the effects of future crises on my day-to-day life.  But, of course, I don’t want to do that now when I can, instead, not think about previous crises or crises to come and simply live in the bliss of not feeling any emotion particularly strongly.  It’s like... it’s like emotional procrastination!  I’ve been procrastinating the emotional work that I know I need to get done because, as of right now, it’s not a pressing issue!  But, as I said, I’ll feel a lot better getting all of that out of the way now (or, at least, working on it) instead of pushing it off until when I need it.
Ugh.  There really is very little comfort that comes along with being responsible.
Speaking of responsible, found out today that my current roommate and I are going to have to look for another one or two girls to live with us if we want to live in the semi-off-campus apartments.  It’s a tad bit stressful, I’ll admit, but hopefully I’ll be able to come back with good news within the next week.
Anyway.  Today I’m thankful for the start of Spring Break!  There’s a lot that I need to accomplish still, but this will be like a week of self-paced working with hopefully quite a bit of resting.  I think I’d like to watch some more of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies too because the first one was quite fun, and maybe I’ll watch some of the other Matrix movies, too.
(Note: I’m still awaiting decisions for a lot of those other programs and the audio drama creator who I contacted has not responded to me yet so um, I’m a bit anxious about both of those situations, not gonna lie.  I think I’m going to contact my backup tomorrow and see if I can get an interview with them.)

ok so the game tonight was so much fun here’s an extremely long post about the current arc of our dnd campaign that none of you asked for.
haven’t made a post about the campaign in a while: bee, roswell, and jacquey (the sparrow of the sea) are all level four now! this wasn’t a huge change as far as spells and attacks go, but my hp max is 39 now which is officially the Most Health i’ve ever had in a level four character. very exciting. later in this story i go unconscious.
bee is starting to open up and make friends! roswell has gone from traveling partner to battle buddy, jacquey has gone from liability to only-we-can-make-fun-of-jacquey. very fun to see how this character who is very angry at the world still very much cares about the people in it
between this adventure and our first one in the caves, we robbed a crime syndicate and had to immediately flee the city! so that was fun! there was some really great stuff in there (the most absurd stakeout scene, trying to explain to roswell what going undercover was, faking our way past the door and realizing we never asked the name of the person we were interrogating which tipped the guys off, crit on a smite, etc.) and our wizard... patron? the lady who gives us jobs was like “hey here’s my apprentice, escort her to a nearby mage’s crypt and make sure she survives”
cue us in the entryway with this level 2 wizard darcia getting ready to go on her first solo trip as a wizard. bee said And I Am Serving You Adoption Papers. roswell said You Need To Pack More Rations. jacquey said Have We Thought About Stealing From Our Wizard Patron
note from our first watch is just “Darcia Deeptow - young wizard woman, glasses. a little nervous. has never left leafhaven and doesn’t know what she wants to do forever, but doesn’t want to never learn what she could become. she’s baby” she also goes unconscious later in this story.
on our journey to the crypt we fought four swarms of crows (ah!) and two owlbears (ah!!!) but bee got both killing blows on the owlbears and it was amazing, she had like 2 hp for the last one. it was so fucking cool.
visited a town called brimdale that’s so incredibly About Hats i cannot even explain. everywhere there is a hat shop. a complimentary hat came with a health potion i bought (my money :((( not much how am i ever gonna get a magic sword).
anyway so in brimdale we met a guy who built a hat that is also a gun and he wanted 600 gold for it (for context we all have like. 70 gold max. i had 20 after buying my potion) but the entire time we were in there he was like “this is my dream hat... the hat guild won’t accept it... i’ve been waiting for someone to want this hat” and bee was like 👀 so you should be paying jacquey to test this prototype for you. and it was like !! and i got to use persuasion for the first time and got a 22 so he gave it to her for free to test and make notes on. eventually we will report back to brimdale with our results and give testimony to the leader of the hat guild about this design
then today we finally reached the crypt (to be fair we spent the entire last session in brimdale bc like. we weren’t just gonna leave the hat town) and it’s wild here. the floor fell out from under us and we landed in some kind of demiplane? i don’t really know the mechanics but we landed in this pile of pillows and from their feathers a dragon made of feathers swirled into being!!!
major props to my dm always but this was like. inspired. it was so fucking cinematic i could visualize it all. so he’s like “i’m the dream dragon, offer me a dream to pass” and we all offered different dreams. bee’s was to not need a sword to make the world better anymore which was very vague but poetic and highkey could play into her backstory stuff but. then her second dream at the end was for a magic sword. these things flow into each other
so then we went into a stone chamber where the ceiling was this forest? like looking up we saw the tops of the trees this was also incredibly cinematic it looks amazing in my head. anyway a guy fell out of the forest and it was our new party member!!!! his name is orinn he’s a human(? ish?) from the feywild who apparently shifts planes against his will sometimes. darcia theorized that this demiplane might suck in random people from the feywild sometimes which. damn, design flaw. anyway in the narrative he’s coming with us bc you get a boon from the mage’s spirit at the end of the crypt and it might send him home but irl he’s joining our group which is super fun!!
roswell hit a tripwire in the next room and the floors and walls and ceilings were covered in spinning blades we had to get through. i regretted asking my dm “oh so it’s kinda like Cube?” at the beginning of the adventure. it was very exciting
then we got to this room that was full of stuff and we had to find puzzle pieces to go in the floor while flameskulls tried to kill us and it was wild it got so tense bee got hit with so much fire and so did darcia!!! my kid!!! and at the end the last flameskull like exploded??? and it knocked both bee and darcia to zero (if the damage had been 3 higher darcia would’ve been fully dead) and it was like aaaaah!!! but orinn can do cure wounds? i truly can’t wait to learn more about this character he has ranger vibes but idk. so he got bee up and bee got darcia up and now we are resting in the chamber :) probably gonna start next week with some rp!!

Okay so, back when I asked for asks for my Ego DnD AU, @lace-maze sent a really good ask a while back asking about why each of the egos chose the characters they did and their playing styles- and I can’t for the LIFE of me find the original anywhere on my blog. ;3;
But! I finished it and I bet it reads horribly but whatever who cares I’m tired- enjoy!
So to FINALLY answer your question, the way I went about choosing what each of the egos would play more or less boiled down to a combo of trying to pick what I think THEY would want to play, and what I figured they would be in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. (wink wonk)
Marvin- Dragonborn Sorcerer
One of the top veterans of the game, he likes to play something with more of a challenge and a lot more mechanics. And since he’s a magician it’s definitely has to deal with magic of some kind (I mean c’mon, he’s already got the aesthetic wardrobe irl for it so why not?). So he’s currently playing a Sorcerer- a magic caster who has the power naturally within him (which ties in his Race for it’s from his draconic bloodline:)
He could have easily chosen his race to be a Tabaxi (a human-cat like hybrid), but he already got enough shit of being the “furry” of the group as it was so instead he decided to go for a Dragonborn. In the game there are different types of Dragonborn, so specifically he’s Brass- which both deals fire damage breath, and is also resistant to fire.
Being one of the older players, his play style depends on the day. For the most part he is the cool, collected member of the party who doesn’t rush in and thinks things through... Until it’s later in the evening with a few drink in ‘em and then they just say, “Yeah, this might as well happen.” Before taking another shot and round-housing someone poor guy’s ass for mocking his scaly features.
Jackie- Half-Orc Fighter
Always wanting to be the hero, Jackie wants to fight and protect his fellow party members. He only has a few sessions under his belt, but he’s confident in saying that he's comfortable with playing more tanky characters and dealing heavy damage.
Jackie doesn’t have a lot of reasoning for his Race other than Orcs Are Cool so he just rolls with that.
As for his Class he likes having a bunch of different fighting styles to choose from while in combat so he can pick and choose which would work best for the situation (they also get more of a range in picking which Armor Class they want-).
His play style is Protect the Party, but also Rush In Head First Into Danger. He’s always in the front lines of a fight to tank the most damage and provide cover for the more squishy characters. It can get quite frustrating for the healer at times when he runs battleaxe-first into battle, leaving his head behind.
Speaking of healers-
Henrik- High Elf Alchemist
A lot like Anti, Henrik found the idea of playing to be quite silly. But once he got into it, the doctor found it quite enjoyable to get into a fantasy character and forget about the real world for a couple of hours. But wanting to retain some kind of dignity, he decided to play as a High Elf. He was drawn to their grace, wonderlust for adventure, and near perfectionism. To say the least, it's easy for him to slip into character.
Strictly speaking, Alchemist is not the the 5E DnD Handbook, but Jack allowed it and made some homebrew additions to the character so their party would actually have a fucking healer. So in addition to the damage-dealing bombs Henrik’s character uses, he also has a special healing bomb he can yeet at the other players when needed.
Henrik’s play style is serious, but curious. He’s always wanting to explore the world Jack created for them and peacefully interact with the NPCs, enjoying events that unfold naturally. However when it’s time for a proper fight he does not beat around the bush, staying in the back for more long-ranged attacks rather than right on the front lines.
Chase- Human Ranger
The recently-single father needed an outlet other than drinking to try and cope with the loss of his family. So like any good friend, Jack offered Chase a spot in his campaign that he was putting together! He wasn’t too sure at first, Chase said that the game seemed really complex and hard to get into. But Jack waves it off and told his friend, “You honestly have to fully jump into it if you’re gonna get anywhere. There’s not really a small way to start. It’s pretty much all or nothing. But trust me, it’s gonna be great!” And ever since his first session, Chase always looked forward to next week’s game.
Being one of the newer players, Chase doesn’t really play anything too crazy, so he sticks to his guns and runs a Human pc. And he may or may not have based the character on his old life to some degree. Giving himself a stable home, a fulfilling job, and a big loving family and at least 3 dogs. Ya’know, real heavy fantasy stuff.
Jack offered him the newer class/ homebrew of a Gunslinger, but he politely declined ‘cause he didn’t want to have to deal with new rules. So he decided to go with a Ranger for his class, figuring it would make for a cool character to play.
Chase’s play style is pretty average (no pun intended), and not all that spectacular. He gets a few good one-liners in here and there, but for the most part he plays passively. Fights when there’s a fight, and interacts almost only when others interact with him directly. (He’s been trying to get better at being more engaging, but he tends to zone out.)
Jameson- Halfling Bard
This session being JJ’s (and Robbie’s) first ever game, JJ pleasantly surprised Jack when he decided to be a Bard. When asked why, the silent man replied simply, “There’s nothing in the rules saying bards HAVE to sing. At the core of them, they are performers.” Jack beams and asks what’s their instrument of choice then? Jameson smiles and shows him this video, saying he thinks it would be interesting to have this as his musical item. (Also gotta love that good The Bard Seduces Everything trope. He’s keeping that in his back pocket for the right moment.)
As for being a Halfling, Jameson figured it would be fun to play a smaller character. And nobody ever suspects the small man to pack such a whaloop. But really, his love for the hobbits in the Tolkin books had captured his heart and really wanted to try and emulate that in the game! Maybe leaning more towards being a little prankster, but still at the core- in short- Soft Cottage Aesthetic™
Jameson’s play style is bouncy and go-gettem. He’s eager to explore the world and have fun with the NPCs. In battles he’s more comedic relief in the back inspiring the other players (and intimidating enemies by aggressively cranking his music box rapidly). And AT LEAST ONCE he has had Jackie’s character YEET his at the enemy to get the final blow to slay the beast. That was a fun session.
Anti- Changeling Rouge
Do I really gotta explain this one?
Naturally Anti always tries to play the edgiest characters he can. Giving them dark, moody personalities but with a slight crazed tick. (Chase naturally calls hypocrisy when Anti says his character is a self-insert to the game.)
I’m almost out of steam here so in short-
Anti loves the idea of having puppets to mess around with irl- so in the game he can somewhat do the same- by changing his figure/ features to mimic those of somebody to manipulate another. He doesn’t care much for the society around him and does his own thing, but can easily blend in and slip into other’s traditions if he needs to. His character has a tendency to pick fights pretending to be someone else before ducking out and watch the fight take place with a smirk on his hidden features. None of the party has ever seen his real face/ form, always changing it subtly so every time someone tries to take a second look something seems different or off.
Rouge: Quick and Stabby. Like the bitch himself.
Robbie- Undead Druid
Jack had to make a special homebrew character for Robbie ‘cause he was set on being an Undead. Apparently Robbie and Marvin talked about character ideas before hand and Robbie got a little overwhelmed with all the options that they had, so Marv suggested something Rob could relate to easier. So after an afternoon of crafting a special stat sheet, Jack allowed their favorite zombie ego to play.. Well, a zombie. (I’m sure someone else has made something similar out there but I might try and make a sheet later.. That could be fun lmao)
As for Druid, I like to see Robbie as being a little more connected to nature than the rest of the egos. Since he.. Yaknow, crawled out of the dirt at one point. (Side story- before the others found him in an old cemetery, he liked to just hang out around the area that was slowly being reclaimed by nature and liked watched the birds and animals). So he was pretty drawn to choosing this class. It’s a little complicated at points, but that’s why Marvin sits between him and JJ, so he can help them out through the whole process. Robbie gets really excited when one of his spells works in combat or just having fun interacting with the NPCs by growing them some flowers to be nice.
As a whole Robbie’s play style is pretty passive. He gets distracted pretty easily and unless Jack is waving his arms around or using miniatures/ figurines to keep a visual, the zombie will sometimes lose focus and stare off into space for a minute before coming back to the game and raising his hand for something to be repeated.
It’s one big mixing pot of different people and play styles, but at the end of the day, Jack has a lot of fun trying to bounce around and keep up with everyone’s antics and storylines. It’s hard as hell at times and it gets a little frustrating when things get out of hand, but they all try to check each other and keep things rolling. And at the end of the day, all the boys enjoy the game and what Jack has to offer and really fucking enjoy themselves. DnD is a good destresser for most of them and all around a grand fun time!

Heyo! You’ve made me curious enough to want to watch Dimension 20! What would you recommend starting with?
YES!!!! MY LEGACY! MY ONE GOAL AS A BLOGGER!
Okay so honestly it really depends what you’re in the mood for, because there’s currently three different campaigns you can start with! All of them stand alone, so you can watch them in any order or skip any of them you want. They’re shorter and tighter stories than Critical Role’s sprawling narrative, and because the cast is mostly comedy writers and actors they tend to be a little more ridiculous and funny, though they also have great representation, tackle serious issues, and have real, heartfelt moments that really did make me cry.
Important thing to note is that only the first half of each campaign is available on YouTube, while the second half is behind a paywall at dropout.tv. Fortunately it’s not that expensive of a paywall (4.99 a month) and there is a free trial available, but that’s still important to know before you get sucked into the story.
My recommendation would probably be to start with campaign 1, Fantasy High, which you can find the trailer for here and the first episode here. Fantasy High is finished (for now), and it’s 17 episodes long and features six misfit teens navigating a high school for adventurers while also trying to solve a mystery. It’s funny and fast-paced and heartfelt and emotional and just generally so good, and it has some of the best characters and most batshit insane and iconic dnd moments I’ve ever seen.
However, if you’re more in the mood for a high-level evil Lord of the Rings parody, you should check out Escape from the Bloodkeep, which is the 6-episode mini-season that features the same DM but different players (including Matt Mercer as a much more anxious and insecure version of the Witch King)! Escape from the Bloodkeep has an absolute all-star cast and manages to pack a shocking amount of character development and heart into a campaign that was played over the course of one weekend. It also features two of genuinely the funniest NPCs I’ve ever seen, which of course were both made up off the top of the DM’s head. You can find the trailer here and the first episode here.
The third option if you want more of an urban fantasy is The Unsleeping City, the second full campaign, which is set in New York City! We’re three episodes in right now, but I expect it’ll be around 16-18 episodes, and it’s very very good so far, with characters that I already adore and a slightly darker and more mature (though like...equally ridiculous) tone to it than the first two seasons. The trailer is here and the first episode is here.
Like I said I’d probably start with Fantasy High, which is my favorite of the three at least so far, but all three campaigns have been great and any of them would be legitimate starting points :) let me know what you think!!!!!

Candor
In another less dark news here I present a small ficlet I wrote for my roommate's (yes, the one and only) dnd character. We are playing in the Tal'Dorei setting and she created the most delightful background to work with.
Since I can't draw for my life but I adored the possibility of writing I asked to be left with my own devices and she, despite fearing I was going to write angst, let me do it. She also has given me the permission to repost this here.
M, just a clue, a small one, of which is your account, pretty please xD
Candor
The sound of the nearby chapel’s bells wasn’t strong enough to drown the noise of those chatting while walking between the haphazardly-looking stalls but Freya focused on it as she rolled her shoulders onto the cape she had been wearing non-stop ever since she had walked into Whitestone.
She missed the ability to wear her hair down, the lack of chaffing on her slightly pointed ears or the uneven feel of paint onto her cheeks, the symbols made out of carefully bought paint an important part of her morning routing she had needed to cut off in order to not stand out among the majorly human crowd of the town. Biting on her bottom lip, the half-elf stepped away from two women, their gaunt faces not dissimilar to the ones she had already gotten used to see among the cobble-covered streets of the northern place. Chill air gripping her throat, puffs of air floating through the air as the chatting won against the dying toll of the bells, she hummed as she kept on walking, throwing glances to the product present in some of the stalls.
The effects the battle against the Chroma Conclave were still visible in many parts of Tal’Dorei; the lack of what had been common commodities once upon a time the most jarring difference as well as the slowly rebuilding cities but the lack of light on the ones around her, the way children played close to their parents, not really willing to move too far from them, made her feel the same weariness that had called upon her the first time she had heard the news about how the former Lord of Whitestone had, apparently, returned to his rightful place.
De Rolo. The title and surname had meant something for her once upon a time and as she rolled the name once more against her tongue, feeling the soft tap of its tip against her velum, she glanced beyond the stalls that circled Pelor’s tree, the golden shimmer of its bark, its leaves, paling against the white beauty of the castle from which every part of the city -from its slums to its richest neighborhoods- could be seen.
She had arrived a few days ago, not entirely sure what was what she expected as her usual playful demeanor changed to one she had very rarely used ever since she had fled from the continent that waited beyond the Shearing Channel; the scent and taste of salt from the sea that awaited to those stupid enough to transverse it strong and powerful against her nose. She had thought she had forgotten it; the way her spine would protest as she hold herself to the top of her height, the way her mannerisms would transform from practical to elegant, the slowness of them ricocheting against her bones in the same way she had very quickly gotten bored on her lessons back when she had been younger. Sadly, however, it seemed like the ways of someone from the highest parts of society were never truly erased: no matter how much one tried to.
“Are you going to buy something or are you going to keep on staring?”
The question, made in a thick Tal’Dorei-an accent woke her up from her reverie, thoughts of long-forgotten mornings spent under the watchful eye of her tutors gone in a cloud of smoke as she blinked back to the present; to the forever warm roads that run through the city as blood and ichor alike. Tilting her head while grasping the ends of her cape so it didn’t flare up with her free hand, she grasped the middle of her staff with the other, the magic from the wind that played with the forever autumnal leaves of The Dawnfather’s tree swirling by and towards her, feeding her own power.
“I was just looking.” She smiled, knowing that her mouth and nose were clearly visible to those with human eyesight and regaling herself with the vision of the slightly elderly woman who puffed for a moment towards her before she returned back to the meagre metallic plates she offered -ideal for those who couldn’t afford a full set of armor! -. Staring as the pale complexion of the woman turned red from the exhaustion one must always took whenever they dealt with difficult customers, Freya walked past the kiosk before stopping by in a smaller one, bags of grain and spice laying around and against the cracking wooden planks that seemed almost strange within a city that prided itself from the rock and mountains that named it.
The merchant there was definitely more affable, younger and must had some genasi ancestry on his blood; the runes and symbols on his arms and the slightly strange shade on his skin not enough to suggest Tiefling or Drow. Feeling less exposed, Freya watched as the man smiled to a couple of young human girls that, blushing, paid for what must had been something under their mother’s request before it was her turn. The scent of slightly musky grain felt stronger as soon as her booted feet moved forward, the rustle of her cape making the man look up from the coins deposited on his hand. Nodding towards her, eyes going to the hood that protected her skin and eyes from being watched, the man pointed at what he sold.
“Everything is from the farmlands attached to the city, I wouldn’t suggest the wheat though; little bit too weak this time of the year.” His accent wasn’t as thick and it suggested some time spent learning the basics back at Emon or any other bigger city and Freya, almost out of habit, glanced down towards his hands, calloused but nimble. Smiling herself, she let her mind wander back momentarily to when she had been young enough to not be subjected to her tutors, to when she had had the ability to escape those and run to the marketplace that spread itself as much as possible with the shoreside as its frame back into her homeland. There, close to a much warmer sea, she would put her hand against the sack of grain only to simply push her fingers onto the packed bags, the feeling strange and ticklish as she dug deep into them. She found herself stopping the old and mechanical movement, the need for it obvious on her posture if the quiet chuckle from the man was anything to go by.
She was saved from some further inquiry as she felt two hands pushing against her upper thigs, the size of them human and tiny enough to suggest a kid, one that moved away with much more light on his eyes than what she had been able to spy on many of those who walked alongside her for as many days. Checking her pouch and finding it still attached to her hip, Freya stared as the kid stuck out his tongue, his blonde hair and clear green eyes a soft and sweet relief to her own sore stare. It felt almost painful, in a way she wasn’t ready to dwell on, the way the child’s bubble-like laugh reached for her before he was pulled away from his mother, curiosity obvious as his angle from beneath let her see not only her half-elven traits but the way she kept on nervously glancing every part of her magic hidden and tucked away.
Not out of fear, she would say, not out of terror or worry about the magic on itself as divinity, nature, pacts, were the usual on every other part of Tal’Dorei but she felt uneasy as she tried her hardest not to think on who the boy made her think of, on who the boy -out of sweetness- resembled another one, several others, who she had seen grown up until she had returned to Father’s summer house one year only to find the one next to it empty and cold and lacking.
Feeling magic crackling against her skin, the easy spell made out of two symbols with the aid of her thumb and forefinger almost escaped her as she considered fire, water and air as possibilities the small human child could enjoy. She halted herself on the very last second though, the wood of her focus warmer to the touch by the moment she glanced away, a small smile on her lips despite the weight of her memory as she was transported back to long afternoons and even longer evenings in where she would been spoken excitedly about objects and ideas that were still just a boy’s dream, a shadow of the reality that peppered now through Tal’Dorei: light and firepower and warmth echoing the name of an inventor, a fighter, whose title had been as evoking as the possibility of not one but two re-appearing back in the place from where they had been eradicated; their demises ones that had felt rough and sand-paper-like against Freya’s still too raw skin.
But they were alive, she said to herself as she muttered a soft apology to the man, his boyish smile as if he truly didn’t mind the lack of any sale easing up her steps while she walked further down the line of stalls, the cry of an eagle breaking through the morning air. At least two of them if the news were true and a part of her hold onto the possibility of it.
Because, she thought; at the end everything finished down the same shoreline, being it steep and cold or easy and warm: she needed them to be alive and she longed for them to be well. Even if her decision of leaving behind her own self-inflicted loss put her in a vague kind of danger she still didn’t know how to name. She had forged her own death after all; no one had told her that she would need to not pursue the lives of those who she had cared about. And she longed for that care and warmth and those stories whispered atop the tallest turret of a castle she had known like the palm of her hand back when titles and possibilities had been squandered into the wind. Shaking her head but heart beating lighter, she quickened her steps as she walked past the boy and his mother, mind made up by the time she brushed past them. She moved her fingers, magic minute but powerful a tiny flame danced between her fingers momentarily before it jumped right in front of the kid; his cheers of surprise making her burrow herself further into her hood as she suppressed a smile.
She looked back for one last time, the spell disappearing as soon as her concentration dropped; starry eyes following her, following her staff and clothes in a way that didn’t make her feel naked or raw but seen.
It was about candor, she thought as she left the castle and the marketplace behind, letting herself wander back to the Scarlet Pimpernel, the promise of some food and Valanthe’s easy small talk one she couldn’t truly deny. It was about the warmth that hid behind decisions and journeys.
The eagle screeched again, its call echoing at her back weak enough for her to not think about it twice.

Lenore, pls? :3
Ah, Lenore.  The OG OC.  I came up with her when I was a sophomore in high school (quite a long time ago) and deep into anime and urban fantasies.  She’s grown from a supernatural living dead girl, to a completely mundane adult with a job (morgue assistant) and a snarky attitude.  The only OC of mine who has a BJD version.  She doesn’t exactly have a world that she lives in, she’s floated in quite a few over the course of the last couple decades.  Someday I’m going to make her a dnd character.
01. Full name: Lenore Marilena Graves.  Annoyingly called Wednesday by a certain class of people.  Her dad, Thomas Kelson, called her “kid”
02. Best friend: Lenore is too crabby for most people.  She had a childhood best friend, but that didn’t end up so well for her later on…
03. Sexuality: generally prefers men, when she can be bothered to care about people at all
04. Favorite color: purple
05. Relationship status: single and unwilling to mingle.  Well meaning coworkers attempt to set her up because they say she needs to hang out more with the living.  She thinks the dead are much better company.
06. Ideal mate: someone who isn’t a cheating lying bastard
07. Turn-ons: classic rock playing low on a car stereo at night, the perfect hot cup of coffee
08. Favorite food: her dad’s cinnamon toast.  She would built a religion around it if she could.  She’s never been able to replicate Kelson’s cinnamon toast, and it’s one of the few things she desperately misses.
09. Crushes: she’s still recovering from a nasty breakup.
10. Favorite music: classic rock.  Anything that her dad played in the car when she was a kid, or in his bar when she was older
11. Biggest fear: she lived through it when her dad died.  Nothing can top that.
12. Biggest fantasy: that her little family is whole and safe
13. Bad habits: drinking far more caffeine than is good for her; uses snark to keep people away
14. Biggest regret: Not being in town when her dad died.
15. Best kept secrets: anything to do with her rather…colorful childhood.  Growing up in the back of Kelson’s car as he conned his way through the midwest.  He went straight - or at least the appearance of straight - when she was a teen and moved them back to his hometown of Pearl River, Lousiana to open up a bar.
16. Last thought: Oh fuck
17. Worst romantic experience: finding her finance cheating on her.  Sometimes childhood sweethearts aren’t meant to last past childhood.
18. Biggest insecurity: that she’s unlovable
19. Weapon of choice: sharp wit and a sharper tongue
20. Role Model: Kelson would be horrified if she ever told him she looked up to him, but he shaped her more than anyone else.  Virgil, the local coroner in Pearl River, an old friend of her father’s, who set her straight when she was a rebellious teen in a too-small town.  Anders, her father’s sometimes partner in crime, who taught her how to pick pockets when she was 12 (and thus prompting Kelson to pack up the grift and Settle Down.)

DnD Adventures
Funny story about this. I recently had to do a reboot of my DnD character, Ryurk. The DM and myself made a few mistakes on the character creations so we had to rework his entire character sheet from the ground up. So doing so, we created a story line from it where my character was cursed by his master both emotionally and physically. This is the results. I hope you enjoy.
For anyone curious, Ryurk is a half-orc/half water genasi fighter and barbarian with a samurai motif.
The Broken Calm
Ryurk--giant slayer, water shaper, lone sword, and father of a white dragon--sat alone at the spring of Beorunna's Well unsure of who he was anymore. The pieces of him were there in his heart, lying broken within his chest. Where he should’ve dull, tired from a night of fighting and feasting, his body felt alive for the first time in a long time. His party had changed something today, broke something free that he didn’t recognize anymore. Was this even him? He scratched at his back, clawing and clawing as though the tattoo still coiled around his spine and he could rip it off from his skin with his nails alone. Who are you? The words danced in his head and choked every thought. Who am I?
He lowered his feet into the bubbling water. The heat burned at first and he felt it. Every part of him felt everything now. Scars long healed ached faintly on his skin, his muscles tired underneath as though he ran for months on in without rest. It was like his body was asleep, unknowing of the workings of itself. Yet through this pain, he found some energy for the first time. He grabbed his own wrist, stopping the itching on his back. It was becoming too much right now. Everything was too much. The stars were too bright, the fragrant smells of the forest too strong. He heard Pabi snoring despite being quite a bit off. The warmth...the heat...of the spring anchored him down. Through it, he was calm ...though the word now scared him.
Ryurk didn’t have to heart to tell them the truth about the tattoo’s meaning. Weaken was one interpretation, a more direct one with the dialect his family used. What it meant truly was calm. It was a slap in the face from his Master from miles away. He remembered his Master’s teaching, how he drilled the necessity of calmness within Ryurk’s mind. Master Ku didn’t want a boiling spring, he wanted an ice cap--a cold, calculating student of justice and rightness. The right student. The right samurai. The laws were meant to be followed and obeyed. Any deviation created a deviate. When Ryurk left in that dead of night, this was his punishment: to be calm, a lake of unperturbed water that knew nothing of waves.
Looking back, he saw pieces of himself emerging. Those times he almost felt normal. Fighting helped, it broke through that veil for a time. Drinking and gambling too. But when the fighting was over, the gambling, the drinking subsided, the calmness returned. It choked him, he now knew. He wasn’t himself. He hadn’t been himself in decades. That scared him. Who am I? Fear soon melted to anger.
The fiery urge to fight, drink, gamble, and far worse rippled through his body now. For the first time in a long time, he wanted to go wild. His body shook at the desire. He wanted to yell, go free in the wild and tear an animal apart with his bare fingers. A bear. A bear would be a challenge. He could find one and be back by morning. No. Lhoris wouldn’t like that much, he knew. Ryurk fumbled for his flask, fingers still shaking. He downed the entire flask, tasting the mixed drink on his lips barely. Weak. Weak. Not strong enough. Who am I? He didn’t feel like himself. Was this who he was before? He couldn’t remember. How was forcing him to change justice? How was this goodness in his master’s eyes? Ryurk threw the empty flask into the ground and shattering it...and let the rage fall.
He looked over his shoulder, hoping for a moment that he didn’t wake the rest in his outrage. No. No one seemed to be awake. Clarke, Pabi and Jai were still asleep and Lhoris...well...they were as asleep as a thousands of years old elven druid could be. Ryurk rose from the spring in a gentle splash. Water dripped from his legs and feet, mudding the soles of his feet as began to pick up the stray parts of the ruined flask.
Walking along the shore, he caught a glimpse of himself in the rippling water. The broken curse changed that too. He was never a small man; now, he was a literal monster. His muscles were thick as trees, his shoulders as wide as a bull. Most noticeably, he lost his relaxed hunch he cultured through the years. It made him appear taller though he knew that wasn’t true. The yellow in his eyes were tinted with his father’s red now in the dark of night. Were they always like that? No. They weren’t. Frustrated, Ryurk scratched at his long beard in a vain attempt to stop clawing at his back. The new strength, the undulled senses, the urge of life and power continued to swirl within him. All different. All new. He didn’t know what to feel anymore. The only thing he could think to do was to train. Perhaps it would hammer his now bursting energy into sleep. Or at least, that was what he hoped. There was no finding the rest of that flask anyhow.
Tiptoeing through the outside of the camp best he could, Ryurk made it to his bag of weapons. There was no rhyme or reason to how he packed his arsenal within the bag, weapons hanging from the large leather sack. When on his back, more often than not it appeared as though the entire sack would break under the pressure of his collection. He knew it wouldn’t. Others didn’t. The only weapon that remained outside of that mess of metal was Kuraoi. He touched the white and blue blade, picking it up from with care. Flecks of mist rolled off the edge of the blade, reminding him of the mountains of his home at the start of spring. Holding it...her...tingled something in the back of his mind. There was a voice, faint and soft as a whisper. “You know who you are,” the familiar voice whispered. Kuraoi’s. A friend...long lost to the memory. “You know who you are because you can hear me again.”
“Who--” Ryurk began, looking around. He remembered. The first person he failed to protect. The reason he became a samurai in the first place. Kuraoi. How could he forget? Was the curse that bad? Was his rage about her that terrible that his master saw him as a threat?“I’m sorry.”
“There’s nothing to be sorry about. You may have forgotten, he may have separated us but...I’ve always protected you. Did you really think that I was going to let that giant kill you and your friends?”
“I--”
“You know who you are. You aren’t black and white law. You are unbridled strength that crashes into rocks along your shore. You’re recklessness, the moment you jump forward without a second thought to protect the people you care about. You’re commanding, your voice thunder on the wind. You protective like an animal on the prowl...and you’re kinda stupid.”
“Hey!”
“Well, it’s true. You aren’t what your master tried to make you and for that...he punished you...unmade you into someone you weren’t. But I was always here. Watching and living in this sword until one day you awoke again. My name is Kuraoi Snowstar and you once loved me. We are now apart in different planes but we are never alone. Be who you are. Remember. Heal. But be the man you wished to be. Become the Rageriver once more. Be who you were always meant to be.
Like a gate, his memories and feelings he hadn’t remembered came flooding back. He remembered Kuraoi’s face, a halfling girl with hair as white as snow and ice-crusted flowers in her hair. A sharper memory struck afterward. Her village burning and death all around her. The memory burned in his head, broken free along with the rest of the feelings of his body. He held it close all the same. Ryurk clutched the blade. He remembered his father making it, he remembered praying at her grave with it on his lap. The ice he had enchanted it with wasn’t a choice on a whim. It was yet another thing escaping from emotions sealed behind a door. He rubbed the hot tears from his eyes. This was the beginning. This was the first step to becoming the man he remembered. “Kuraoi.”
“Yes, love.”
“Don’t ever leave me again.”
“I never did, Ryurk Rageriver. Now go. Pick up the blade, train, and heal, knowing that I'm always holding your weapons with you.”
Her voice disappeared into the night. The mist on the edge of the unsheathed blade rolled off in a burst, gently and softly rolling up into the air as a flower. Ryurk’s emotions, still new and raw, boiled and flared. He stood, his massive body quaking the earth around him. The ice rolled onto his doubled handed grip, forming and melting and forming again from the heat of his now boiling watery flesh. He swung his sword for the first time. It whistled through the air with a clean slice, the very power of it like a gust of wind. The faint crisp smell of the mountain top hit his nostrils. At this moment, he felt like a god. A confused god, one that knew nothing of his own power and strength anymore but a god all the same. Though the uncertainty wasn’t far from gone, he knew where to begin. Rageriver.
He held on to the words in his head as he trained. He remembered every stance, circling through Water, then Stone, then Wind. Lightning still eluded him. The size of his body made even the other three difficult. The clothes didn’t help. Everything felt so tight against his body to the point he had no choice. He ripped off his sleeves and then his pants below the knee. Did it make him look the feral animal he had become? Sure. But they were in his way. With time, he would learn again. Swing after swing, he practiced. The crystals of ice whistled in the air, clanking softly against the ground. He held on to his memories, his failures up until now.
He remembered Rosni and Jai, touching death as fire from a mage consumed everything around them. He remembered the nightmares he had the night after watching Clarke fall to the giant in her own city at his side, hearing Bryn’s blood-curdling scream and sharp sickly green light that followed. Then there were those countless mistakes, each and every one of them possibly leading to the death of someone he loved. He was helpless then. Weak. Barely clinging on to his own life as his friends almost died around him. His master had made sure of that as a lesson, not knowing what he did hurt more than Ryurk himself. With a final slash, he looked over to his new sister Pabi curled up by his empty bedroom and then up the airship where his son Mochi slept. He wasn’t going to let that happen again. Lordless or not, masterless or not, he will learn and win at any cost.
Honor meant nothing to the dead.
Taking one last moment for himself, he relaxed. The excess energy seemed to have faded just a little. Sleep, however, was still a long way off. When your sense and emotions were dulled for decades, perhaps sleep was a far concept for the body to process. Still, he needed the rest. He knew nothing of who he was anymore, years stolen in what looked like a harmless light fog. He would have to remember. The pieces in his heart were still broken and his mind couldn’t process everything that changed within him. Tonight was only the beginning.
Through the faint sounds of bubbling water, crackling fire, and gusts of wind, Ryurk heard movement behind him. It was a soft presence, though incredibly dark and mildly foreboding. There was a certain air to her, one that he hadn’t noticed before. He wondered how he had never noticed that before. Did all of his friends feel so magical? He turned to Jai, seeing her dark clothes and long black hair outlined in the campfire light. She inspected him for a long uncomfortable moment as though seeing him for the first time.
 “Uh...hi, Jai, I can explain?”

all the odd number questions >:3
okay first of all how dare you and second of all I still love you ok but just. you do realise no one here actually cares abt this ??  so I’ll put the answers under the break
ask game
1. who’s your celebrity crush?
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh I don’t think I really have the stereotypical celebrity crushes?  if we count lesser-known celebrities, then I’d have to say the amazing youtuber TBSkyen, who runs a wonderful channel all about character design in videogames and such. I admire his skills and the content he puts out is very informative & also he happens to be one of the rare people online who pay attention to LGBTQ issues and cultivates a safe space in the community surrounding his channel & also is aware of the issues of sexism and ALSO just happens to have a lovely voice (example: x x x )so how can you blame me for crushing hard?
he made me care about League of Legends and DARK SOULS, for god’s sake!
3. rant. just do it
I feel like the previous answer was enough of a rant already lol (I just love him so much uuuugh he says at one point in his life he was gonna be a teacher and IT SHOWS! he explains art theory so well! fml)
5. how many accounts do you have?
on tumblr? on all of the internet? I only have 1 tumblr account and uuuuuh 7 sideblogs, which I barely use.
7. opinion on… (specify to the person you’re asking to)
oh hello heidi. asking me to give an opinion on one of my best friends now huh? very sneaky indeed!
well She is a lovely lovely person who I met/got to know thanks to tumblr and mtg (I’m not sure how we became mutuals in the first place but I’m not complaining) and I love Her very much! She’s sweet and terribly kind and I have a plushie and a cute plastic snail to prove that! Also She is adorable and deserves all the happiness in the world and I will cut anyone who even looks at Her wrong
(also probably one of the people whom i talk to the most these days. how did that happen OH RIGHT because she’s an enabler and lets me rant. read this ask.)
9. favorite brand of clothing?
not much of a brand person, I just pick out stuff that’s comfy, cheap-ish, and at least vaguely gay
11. what unusual talent do you have?
……. I can purr, I think?
13. ever prank called a store?
I’m sure people in my school tried & my cousins did that as well when we were kids, but me personally? no. I was merely a witness. A co-conspirator, if you will.
15. what’s a question you constantly get asked?
no single question stands out rn, but I guess these days it’s just university-related things. :/
17. google the top song from the year you were born
google has a lot of results for me but the ones that immediately stand out are Livin’ La Vida Loca & All Star.     …… yes that fits perfectly
19. what’s your favorite teacher you’ve ever had?
art history/drama/english (I think?) high school teacher. she’s queer and super chill, likes dnd and not to be dramatic but I WOULD DIE FOR HER. first adult outside of my family who I came out to & she was way better about it than my mom and CAN YOU GUESS why she’s my fave and I look up to her so much??
21. what’s a conspiracy you believe in?
I don’t.
23. if you could break one of your bad habits which would you choose?
that’s. not enough. please give me more of those I have like 24 bad habits that need my immediate attention please and thank you.
(probably my severe procrastination. but that’s very broad and generic.)
25. what’s something you can’t stop buying?
binge food. no it’s not fun. yes, maybe this would be a better answer to the previous question. the two of us have a bad relationship and it sucks.
27. how long before a trip do you pack?
last minute. if we leave in the afternoon then I pack the morning of the trip. if we leave in the morning, I pack at night.
29. what quote or inspirational setting do you think is bs?
anything that comes out of rich people’s mouths. “believe in your dreams // anything is possible” is easier to say for someone from a dual-income family who gets a car for their 18th birthday and goes on vacation every year. fuck off.
31. you can change one thing about your life right now. what are you changing?
capitalism.
33. what do you think about a lot
gorgeous men. this blog is a testament to that.
also? great animation/visual effects
35. what does home mean to you?
messy rooms, late night trips to the freezer, worn matresses, leaky windows & the only place where I feel comfortable singing loud
37. have you ever been called down to the principals office?
only for good results in competitions
39. describe your aesthetic
pop-culture references, dark undereye circles, worn sneakers, oversized jumpers, long showers, cool breeze, late summer nights, staring at the moon, physical affection
this took way longer to type up than I thought it would

Okay so
read more cause wall of text about Dnd, and the Story of Gnomeo and the Kobolanche
it was back in the college days, and the final adventure the party were going to have with these characters we had built up over the span of a year, Gnomeo the gnome being one of them.
We were tasked by this noble dude to get back his crown and scepter that had been stolen, believing that they were magical and he needed them to rule. (They ended up not being but hey, everyone else thought they were magical so what ever.)
After some fishing about we figured out that this small group of kobolds lived under the town, they got to stay there for pretty much building the towns sewer system and the like. we thought that maybe a stray one just came up and knicked the stuff and went home.
We cornered one kobold and made him talk. turns out alot of the kobolds were actually locking themselves in their homes underground cause this roaming band of other kobolds was making their way through the area, and that they were stealing what they could, dragging it all back to their home in a mountain about two days travel away.
So with no real other leads we packed up and made our way over to the mountain, thankfully the main road went right next to said mountain and there was a small town/outpost at the base of the mountain that many traders stopped to rest at. we stopped there and asked about, they said that the Kobolds had a somewhere in the mountain but no one knew where cause no one really bothered to look for it.
Still, we learned that inside the mountain was a former dwarf city that had been abandoned like centuries ago, so we figured that they must of just moved in and set up shop in there. Things were coming along as we hiked up the mountain to about 3/4 of the way up where the entrance was said to be. We found it and outside guarding it was around eight Kobolds. We knew that pretty much any action we could take would most likely cause some kind of alarm to go off and we would just be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
Thats when Gnomeo got an idea and said to wait, climbing up to a spot above the kobolds and jumping down, landing behind them. Now everyone was thinking that I was just going to stealth kill them all to delay the alarm being sounded. Gnomeo instead ran passed them at full speed, making his way up to a small pile of rocks infront of them, naturally they all noticed the gnome running pasted them and were about to give chase, when Gnomeo pulled out a pretty large egg frome a previous adventure and held it up above his head.
The Kobolds instantly stopped in there tracks, staring at the Gnome as Gnomeo said something along the lines of "Hey Leather heads! Look at this cool Dragon Egg I found!" And proceeded to smash the egg on the rocks infront of him.
The Kobolds just remained silent, staring at the shattered egg before them, a few of them dropping their weapons in disbelief while two ran back into the cave. The Kobold infront continued to stare before letting out this blood curdling scream as it beefed out. (Turns out was a barbarian) and charged at Gnomeo.
Everyone else was about to jump in and help when the mountain its self practically began to rumble and shake. Looking at the entrance everyone would see this simply gigantic sea of kobolds start pouring out from the entrance, with other smaller entrances in the side of the mountain spewing out them as well, all of them converging on the Gnome, hell bent on killing him.
Gnomeo wisely decided that it was time to leave and basicly pushed the loose rock slab he was on loose and start sliding down the mountain on it to escape from the Kobolanche coming down on him. he reached a small wooden area part way down the mountain before getting off the rock slab, letting it keep on sliding down and make it seem like he was going down that way. He then proceeded to hide in a small indent in the wall and teleported away to the safety of the home base.
The party just waited for every last kobold to exit the mountain to chase down the gnome, so they got inside with out any trouble. Turns out living in a pretty well established city was very good for breeding numbers based on how many exited. But they found the place to pretty much be empty, the only rooms that still had guards were the rooms that led to where they stored unhatched eggs and recently hatched Kobolds.
They found the crown and scepter no problem and left with out one to. They made there way down the mountain only to see that the kobolanche had descended upon the base town and razed it completely to the ground, the sea of kobolds able to be seen in the distance, thankfully heading in the opposite direction everyone else needed to go. so they got back safely.
Now because it was an in and out kind of job, the party missed out on some details set up about this giant group of kobolds and what they were doing in the mountain. DM told us after everything had ended.turns out the reason all the kobolds went ape shit on Gnomeo was because they infact had found an actual dragon egg and were trying to hatch it, so the guards up top thought that A gnome of all things had snuck into the city, stole the egg, and smashed it right infront of them. So they sounded the highest of alarms that pretty much meant to literally send in everyone to kill this gnome.
And that is the story of how Gnomeo pissed off a mountain of kobolds and caused a town to be burned to cinders

@ the DND ask game: ALL OF THOSE QUESTIONS, I CAN'T CHOOSE!! XD (or if not that, the ones you rlly wanna do!!
BOY OH BOY OH BOYIve been answering these throughout the day and I’m too lazy to reread the full document so sorry if I’ve left gaps or whatever but here it is! All 35 questions about dnd! Matt you unstoppable Madman.
1. A favorite character you have played.
You can’t just make me pick between my children!!! I think I might have to say Atticus Sallow, my faeborn bloodhunter, partially because he’s like 100% homebrew content which I LIVE for, but also because he’s probably the most kinda self-insert character I’ve ever played? Almost became the kinda angsty, brooding asshole character before he was like “get your shit together” and learned that loving people isn’t so bad.
2. Your favorite character that someone else has played.
I almost, ALMOST had the pleasure of DMing for @no-more-good-omens and their character was gonna be SO RAD and I’m a little heartbroken he never came to be. A half-drow paladin of Vecna, pretending to be your typical good and wholesome paladin? Dude, I love that kinda two faced backstabbing in a player. It’s such a shame it never came to anything (although if yall still wanna play hmu ;))
3. Your favorite side quest.
Ooh, there’s been so many good ones. Probably when i was playing as Adrian Smirks and went off on a tangent to rescue his brother ? That was the first time I ever got to see Adrian’s more raw and emotional side beneath the suave mask he wears and it was fun to explore his character in that way ^.^
4. Your current campaign.
That I’m DMing? It started inspired by Guy Fawkes and was gonna be “your party blows up parliament” but I got bored of following historical accuracy so it ended up being “blow up the palace in a magical city that just happens to be called London”. I accidentally wrote myself into a hole with this campaign tho, so once they’ve finished this arc I’m handing over the DM hat to my sister @philosophical-wanton because she seems to love it and I kinda miss being a player lmao. I can’t wait for it.
5. Favorite NPC.That I’ve written? Probably Hai Shen, the youngest son of a group of circus performers who were killed and the party got blamed for their murder. He had such a great attitude and his dynamics with the party kicked ass. And the twist that he was actually dead the whole time and it was his soul that had stayed behind to help solve his family’s murder? ICONIC.
6. Favorite death (monster, player character, NPC, etc).
NPC death would probably be Hai Shen, actually. After the party had brought the real killers (A cult to the demon Prince Orcus) to justice, Hai’s time on earth had come to an end. He had really beautiful moment with the party before being reunited with his family. Alternatively, the time I broke my entire party’s hearts? “Artagan’s staff comes cracking into Ellios’ chest, forcing him onto the ground. Artagan raises his sceptre in hand, pointing it menacingly at the young prince. And for the first time, you see him. Like, REALLY see him. He’s not the strong and powerful leader you’ve all come to know him as, he’s not Prince Ellios of the Four Realms. He’s just a boy. A boy who is much too young to be involved in such a grand scheme. And the fear in his eyes. You see the fear he’s managed to keep buried for so long, finally coming to the surface. And then? You don’t see anything, aside from his cold body hitting the ground.” I got punched three times for that moment, but GOD was it worth it.
7. Your favorite downtime activity.
Like in game? A healthy lil bit of vandalising the local law enforcement buildings is always a good time.
8. Your favorite fight/encounter.
Aw man, how can I pick ? I gotta say, that one time we, a level 6 party, managed to take down two earth elementals was pretty rad. The DM kind of expected it to be one of those encounters that we saw and immediately tried to run from, but what she didn’t take into account was that ALL of us had chaotic alignments so we just went crazy. The DM was rolling really badly (thank God) and we were getting really creative (“I use the produce flame centripetal to light my bottle of ale on fire and create a molotov cocktail” “you do WHAT”) and after like an HOUR we won and it was amazing. The rush I got from that victory was better than any drug my dood.
9. Your favorite thing about D&D.
I know I say it a lot, but I legit can’t choose. There’s so many great things about ttrpgs that a lot of people don’t really think of. The creative fulfilment I get from a session is incomparable, the friendships you can build that you couldn’t form in any other way. And like, not to get too real for a sec here, but I grew up with undiagnosed autism and didn’t understand how a lot of social situations worked, and DnD was such a good mechanic for me to try communicating with people without many real world consequences, and I appreciate that experience so much. It’s just such a great thing my dood.
10. Your favorite enemy and the enemy you hate the most.
Can they be the same thing lmao? I mean, I’m obviously partial to Count Cassius, the vampire lord that Adrian slept with lmao. I also always appreciate a good beholder, until I get hit with three disintegration rays IN A ROW.
11. How often do you play and how often would you ideally like to play?
We’ve got kind of a monthly schedule with my main campaign, and I manage to get a couple online games in-between them, but honestly I’d kill to be the kind of group that got together every weekend.
12. Your in game inside jokes/memes/catchphrases and where they came from.
Oh MAN. “I say we do this.” “Yeah, but that’s coming from the guy who decided to tie 3 50ft ropes together to escape the palace.” “iT wOrKeD dIdN’t iT ???” i.e that time I forgot I gave the gnome rogue flying boots so when I planned for them to get arrested at the palace, they managed to escape by tying their ropes together, sending the gnome with it to the top and climbing the wall. I had to improvise the rest of the session. Also “FLINTON BELINDA SKINTON” bc as a role-play exercise I got my party to come up with rumours about their characters and the gnome rogue called Flint AKA Flinton B Skinton decided that one of their rumours was that the B stood for Belinda, and it was GLORIOUS.
13. Introduce your current party.
My current group consists of Flinton B Skinton, gnome rogue. He’s a quick-fingered, silver-tongued gay disaster who can sell anything to anyone. He’s a charming flirt, and a veritable genius in his own right. Kava Daardendrian, dragonborn ranger who loves nothing in life more than her animal companion - her pig Snortin Norton. She’s fun and sassy and shameless, she’s great. There’s Sparks, the fire Genasi Monk, and full embodiment of a disaster lesbian. She drinks, fights, and gets laid, and doesn’t deal with her problems in healthy ways. An icon. And finally Milo, the halfling Bard who falls in love at the drop of a hat and just wants everyone to get along. I call them “The Shenanigang” and I love them.
14. Introduce any other parties you have played in or DM-ed.
A party I joined late? We had Sylvia Moondrop, the half elf sorcerer who was just trying to get along with everyone despite what the world seemed to want. Orland the half orc bard who was just trying to shake off the Barbarian stereotype his family left him with. Rose Morleen, air Genasi fighter who was literally born to kick ass and take names. I joined as Mason Terrai, the Earth Genasi Alchemist with a perchance for explosives. The very definition of chaotic neutral.
15. Do you have snacks during game times?
Of COURSE. What manic wouldn’t ?
16. Do you play online or in person? Which do you prefer?
I used to play online a LOT back before I had friends who were into dnd, but I VASTLY prefer playing in person. The chemistry that’s built not only amongst the players, but also the actual characters themselves is unparalleled. It’s just such a great experience.
17. What are some house rules that your group has?
Anyone can attempt anything, the only restriction is the dice. Don’t question the DM unless it’s out of session, then bully the dm on the groupchat until he’s so pissed off he gives you inspiration just to get you to shut up. And also canon lore and canon rules are bullshit when it’s convenient. That’s about it
18. Does your party keep any pets?
Our ranger, God bless her, has her pack pig Snortin Norton, sold to her by one Flinton B Skinton. And Flint really wants a monkey, he’s been trying to find one for ages.
19. Do you or your party have any dice superstitions?
Not really ? I’m the kind guy that if my dice rolls a 1 I will bench it for a bit, but tbh all my dice are cursed af and I’ve kinda just learned to roll with it by making my characters canonically terrible at everything lmao.
20. How did you get into D&D? How long have you been playing?
Aw man I can’t remember when or how, it’s been so long. I had a couple friends who were kinda into it, but all the games they tried to run were complete disasters. I only really started playing I’m the past year or so? Maybe a little more ? Adrian was my first character, and he was a very RP heavy character in a party of tanks and they all hated him but MAN was it fun.
21. Have you ever regretted something your character has done?
Oh all the time. One time my character was careless and didn’t check for traps on a legendary artefact and it lead to the death of a party member. One time my character got angry at his party and walked out. My characters don’t make good decisions, but that’s part of the fun.
22. What color was your first dragon?
White! I thought it was silver at first and went to go say hi, and it clawed me within half my HP straight away lmao.
23. Do you use premade modules or original campaigns?
Oh dude, original all the way. I live for that shit.
24. How much planning/preparation do you do for a game?
Depends on the session, but usually a good few hours, couple of days if I’m DMing.
25. What have your players done that you never could have planned for?
“You wake up in a mysterious forest. The strained autumn sun shines through the trees. The only thing you can see it each other, the trees, and an old sign post leading to a path that says "Myrrill” on it. What do you do?“ "We walk in the opposite direction of the sign deeper into the forest.” “…of course you do.”
26. What was your favorite scene to write and show your characters.
I wrote a full carnival show one time for them to watch, and then it got derailed when a horrific monster attacked. But writing all the characters and their acts, and watching my players get entranced as I described it ? Magical, my dood.
27. Do you allow homebrew content?
I live and breathe homebrew content. I don’t know what my games would be without it. I LOVE homebrew.
28. How often do you use NPCs in a party?
I make some pretty sick characters if I do say so myself, so I throw them in a LOT.
29. Do you prefer RP heavy sessions or combat sessions?
Oh dude, role play all the way. Fighting and killing stuff is great, but role-play is just so good. We can go from laughing with a bartender to crying over a backstory reveal and it’s just beautiful.
30. Are your players diplomatic or murder hobos?
Depends on the party, but i find the best players are a little bit of both XD
31. What is your favorite class? Favorite race?
Official ? I’m a fan of the hexblade warlock? Bards are always a good call, and to be real playing monks make me feel like an absolute badass. Race wise, there are just so many. If we’re only talking players handbook stuff, half elf is always rad. Outside of that? I’ve been researching the Shadar-Kai lately and I’m LIVING. They’re so rad.
32. What role do you like to play the most? (Tank/healer/etc?)
What would you call the disaster gay? I don’t really gear my characters towards usefulness in combat, so it’s just whatever the class happens to lend itself to.
33. How do you write your backstory, or do you even write a backstory?
I usually write my character, personality, backstory, alignment etc, before I even pick a class or even a race. I basically just make OCs and apply them to dnd rules, and it’s SO much fun. 10/10, would recommend.34. Do you tend pick weapons/spells for being useful or for flavor?
FLAVOUR. My party usually hates me, but what I lack in combat utility I more than make up for in creative out of combat skill checks XD.
35. How much roleplay do you like to do?
Boi, I even RP my combat, and the great thing is it rubs off on my party too. I’ll have a really low initiative and everyone else will be like “I attack and do 10 points of damage” but then on my round I’m like “I use my staff to leap across the battlefield towards the opponent and launch out with a spinning kick to their jaw” and everyone else is like “oh, okay, that’s what we’re doing.” and the battle becomes so much more dynamic and cinematic, it’s amazing !

1. A favorite character you have played.
done!
2. Your favorite character that someone else has played.
o my god.. this is so hard, my group makes really good characters! for each of them:zach - nickels!! trauma child kenku weirdo who sold their soul to talk.. who grew up to be an angry pirate who adopted a child on impulse.ari - lael, obviously. they have a half-elf complex, a good chunk of their personality is being the kid that catches lizards, and they have a robot arm.lemon - honestly? jj devinyl. i mean, john mulaney as a tiefling cleric who loves his wife and is also going completely insane? yeah.bree - i.. love layla. she’s a good-aligned cleric to an evil god and her and kellan are the cutest couple in dnd tbh.connor - guardian is a robot.
3. Your favorite side quest.
o fuck!! y’all.. it’s bufo. it’s the fact that my talking toad npc was so lovable that they unlocked the quest in which his mother hunts him down and tries to kill him so that she can live forever. they killed her ofc and bufo was untransformed into a handsome.. halfling.
4. Your current campaign.
i’m running a murder mystery set aboard an airship! with strong cosmic horror elements! and i’m playing in a large-scale epic about spies caught up in the very start of a continent-wide war.
5. Favorite NPC.
also a very hard question. on one hand, jean is my actual boyfriend and also a literal angel assassin. on the other hand, nika is a child god trapped in an amulet whose super god power makes people trip which is so fucking funny. back around to the first hand, which is now the third, aengus is so well-done as a villain that he’s almost scared me in my real-life actual heart and yet he’s an a huge loser with breakup trauma, which is objectively also so fucking funny. on my fourth hand, fela is my most important npc who i’m probably in love with and she’s been in every one of my campaigns. on my FIFTH hand--
6. Favorite death (monster, player character, NPC, etc).
done!
7. Your favorite downtime activity.
done!
8. Your favorite fight/encounter.
that time nasuada beat lumley up in her own dumb-ass head, and lumley’s response was to find this super hot.
9. Your favorite thing about D&D.
getting together and spending time with my friends! or maybe that it lets me be creative without the stress writing gives me.
10. Your favorite enemy and the enemy you hate the most.
fav enemy is def aengus!! like wow he’s fucking terrifying!! and i hate yin&yang the most, they were so creepy and cruel and they were never really punished.
11. How often do you play and how often would you ideally like to play?
i dm once a week these days, and i play sporadically. thesis year has been hard on me! but ideally i would love to dm twice a week and play in one or two steady campaigns, or dm once a week with regular one-shot sessions!
12. Your in game inside jokes/memes/catchphrases and where they came from.
o.. there’s a lot?? my favorite is “honeyclaw pissed on lenthol” bc our barbarian thought it would be a good idea to climb into the robot piloted by the “big bad” (or so we thought at the time), and then to sell her bluff that she was looking for the bathroom, she just...... pissed herself >:(
13. Introduce your current party.
as a dm: lael (half-elf magitechnician who bases their mad science off of cool bugs); guardian (robot paladin on his third life, basically robocop with light existential crises); senhora (brash and kind-hearted by turns, an elf who [REDACTED] before becoming a ranger and bonding w a wolf); jj devinyl (a tiefling cleric who does stand-up comedy and loves his wife); and percy (an android with identity issues, driven by curiosity, and love for magic, and literally no qualms about threatening to kill her friends).
as a player:rowan (the last prince of a lost kingdom and also the saddest, gayest boy in town); ko&kokumo (my elf boy whose soul split in two after leaving his warlock patron, driven by nosiness and romance respectively); honeyclaw (a tabaxi pro-wrestler who deserted her life as a child soldier, pissed on lenthol); peitho (the surprisingly wholesome god of sex, was kinda into the tactics of being a spy before he got distracted by p*ssy); and lumley (the dumbest baby lesbian ever o my god, she’s the daughter of a powerful river goddess and she still can’t get a date).
14. Introduce any other parties you have played in or DM-ed.
that would take me one million years.
15. Do you have snacks during game times?
yeah!! traditionally we take a halfway break at 9 and all go get snacks together, it’s great.
16. Do you play online or in person? Which do you prefer?
i prefer in person, but we play online a lot, and we’ll have to be only online once we graduate.
17. What are some house rules that your group has?
we round up score mods from odds and we don’t pay attention to like.. most of the little rules. it’s more abt the storytelling. (which is why we may switch to a different system if i can seduce them away.)
18. Does your party keep any pets?
o yeah, i think almost every group has had an animal companion. and if not, zach always plays a furry.
19. Do you or your party have any dice superstitions?
a lot of us roll specific sets for each character!
20. How did you get into D&D? How long have you been playing?
i got into dnd in high school bc i liked a boy who watched community, and then i watched community, and the dnd episode fucking rocked. never got past making characters and one botched attempt at a session. then in my first year of college, i joined the dnd club and i’ve been playing since! so like, three years and some change.
21. Have you ever regretted something your character has done?
ya lol i play very much how my character would act and tho that usually goes well for me.. ko wanted to break his pact with aengus despite the Consequences and i didn’t. but overall i think the outcome has been a lot of fun!
22. What color was your first dragon?
silver! just introduced them, actually!
23. Do you use premade modules or original campaigns?
all original, baby.
24. How much planning/preparation do you do for a game?
a ton. as a dm i write........ a lot. i want to have a lot of vivid characters, solid plots, and a huge interwoven world. so my docs are always huge and take me months to finish.
as a player i do less bc players just inherently have far less to do. but i still try put a ton into really developing my character so i can play them more naturally.
For DMs
25. What have your players done that you never could have planned for?
in my first campaign, i used a lot of weird memory spells to keep characters from remembering the big bad, because him being unremembered was a HUGE plot point for me. i had two different groups playing in the city at the same time, and one of them.... had this dragonborn who just liked to talk to plants and who hated nobles, and who fucking cast MAGIC MOUTH on their FANNY PACK to record that big bad so that it COULDN’T BE FORGOTTEN. MAGIC MOUTH. THAT’S THE SPELL THAT BROKE ME.
26. What was your favorite scene to write and show your characters.
i’ve really liked a couple, but i know i haven’t topped the finale for my first campaign. after finally the groups finally came together and killed Shargaas, the city began to crumble around them, and they all watched me set a ten-minute timer for them to figure out how to get away with their lives.
27. Do you allow homebrew content?
o yea, i adore MFOV particularly.
28. How often do you use NPCs in a party?
o there are always a couple kicking around.
29. Do you prefer RP heavy sessions or combat sessions?
we don’t really.. do... that second thing....
30. Are your players diplomatic or murder hobos?
yes.
For Players
31. What is your favorite class? Favorite race?
o fuck. uh probably wizard. and i love................. half-elves.
32. What role do you like to play the most? (Tank/healer/etc?)
i really like long-distance damage dealers.
33. How do you write your backstory, or do you even write a backstory?
i always start with a concept and then i just write an entire novel ell em ay oh.
34. Do you tend pick weapons/spells for being useful or for flavor?
done!
35. How much roleplay do you like to do?
like, 70% rp, 30% jokes,
