Happy Holidays, Emily! We are thrilled to “invite” Dean Thomas (fc Keiynan Lonsdale ) back to Hogsmeade for a little forced Winter Cheer. We particularly liked how Dean was set up for growth in this application--not necessarily launching a career post-Battle of Hogwarts and still learning about himself. Dean’s roommate is: Harry Potter!

ACTIVITY ESTIMATE: I work on political campaigns and there is a race I am starting in January which kills my time immensely, but right now I have ample free time and can lurk/plot the whole time!

FULL NAME & NICKNAMES: Dean Allen Thomas

BLOOD-STATUS: Half-Blood, although he grew up believing he was Muggle-born

* SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Dean is bisexual, although he very only recently fully came to terms with this.

CHARACTER SITUATION:

OCCUPATION: Dean works at a sporting goods store near his house and while it is not his ideal job, it does leave him with plenty of time to focus on his art. This is the main way he copes with the last three years.

HOUSING: He lives in a tiny, tiny flat in Clapton. It’s about a thirty minute train ride to his home, and while he would like to stay at home, there simply isn’t enough room now that the girls are growing. Not to mention, he quite enjoys his alone time away from the chaos of his family occasionally.

SOCIAL STANDING: Dean still can’t believe that he is in The Order of Merlin, First Class, thank you very much. It’s a bit of a wild title, especially for someone that people consider Muggle-born. Dean is known as a friendly face, and will always be a friend to those who need it, but his name usually doesn’t garner recognition. And frankly, he prefers to keep it that way.

CHARACTER CONFIGURATION:

TALENTS/WEAKNESSES +Artistically inclined + Athletic, which made him a great addition as a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team -Potions. He could never get the portions right, not to mention he thought it a dull subject -Not a strong leader

STRENGTHS/FLAWS + Bright; always knows just what to do or say to cheer someone up + Huge empath; keen ability to improve others moods + Loyal like no other person, whether that be to people or sports teams. He is your #1 Fan - Terrible at making decisions, which causes him to go with the flow a lot of the time -Self-less, which can lead to putting himself second and the needs of others first. Also causes a bit of a self-confidence issue

CHARACTER HISTORY:

FAMILY BACKGROUND Being raised by a single Muggle mother, Dean learned early on to dislike his father, Alexander, with every fiber of his being. His parents had married young, and he always blamed their split on that. Alexander was too young, he got cold feet. Couldn’t handle a baby anymore, let alone being a father. While Martha never gave him an outright reason to dislike his father, Dean was the one acting out about it. Looking back, it was probably because he was compensating for his mother’s own nonchalance on the subject. Why wasn’t she upset? Why wasn’t she screaming? He later realized that her spending hours in front of the television set alone was her own version of screaming.

They had been fine. Martha and Dean had built a life together, just the two of them. They lived in a tiny flat and ate tiny meals and wrapped each other in tiny blankets and only each other could feel the warmth. The introduction of Graham Richards into Dean’s life was not a welcomed one. They met at his produce shop, sharing casual flirtations down the turnip aisle. Nothing made her laugh as much as those cabbages.

As Graham started spending more time in their flat, Dean started coming to terms with the idea that maybe he wasn’t all that bad. He had shit taste in sports, sure, but he was a great cook. And he made Martha happy. Damn, did he make her smile.

It took him eight years to propose to Martha, and by that point it came as no shock to anyone. They were already basically married, having moved in together years ago. Graham was basically already Dean’s father, having helped him through a break up and always supporting him in his art projects. Veronica and Bridget were already welcomed additions into the family, and shortly after baby Sam was no different.

Soon his tiny flat became a spacious three-bedroom. His tiny meals became three-course dinners. The blankets became shelters for movie nights and a home for Dean’s stories from school.

Since his father’s death, Dean harbors serious regret for his treatment of the man he barely remembers, mainly because of memories he lost and resentment he held. He wants to tell his father he is proud of him. That he understands all that he did in order to protect his family. That he would have done the exact same thing. While he can’t look back on many memories, he will always wonder what if.

LIFE DURING THE WAR: Not being able to return to Hogwarts for his final year was devastating to Dean. He loved his friends and he loved Quidditch and he loved the charmed sugar spoon that he used each morning in the Great Hall for breakfast. The fact that he was Muggle-born should not have affected his ability to attend school, but he quickly learned it was for his own good. He would stay up late and write letters his father would never be able to read. In those letters, Dean promised he would get through all this. He promised that, eventually, there would be happiness for at least one of them.

Dean wasn’t keen on having to fight in a war in his home away from home, but like a true Gryffindor, he pummeled himself headfirst into the throws of Battle. Finally, he felt welcomed again in this world. Perhaps it was the rush of finally seeing his friends after all this time (physically there, if mentally in pieces) and seeing Harry—his old friend, his sole source of hope when no one would believe that there was a reason to hope anymore—do what’s right that continued to propel him forward after all this time.

LAST THREE YEARS

Dean chose to fully immerse himself in the Muggle world. In the Muggle word, they can’t force him to run away from his friends and family. He loves being a wizard of course, but his last year on the run really took its toll on him. He still wakes up with nightmares when a neighbor makes too much noise. He is constantly afraid of being alone, as he was alone for most of his Final Year. Dean doesn’t want to think about life in terms of goals because, to be quite honest, he really has no idea what he wants to do after Hogwarts. A small part of him didnt even think he’d make it this far. Instead, he has a lot of different interests and ideas, but nothing that is jumping out at him right now. The Ministry of Magic is urging those in The Order of Merlin First Class to follow the career path of an Auror. And there is a part of him that feels he could make a great Healer or Auror, and another part of him that longs to be a Quidditch star, and somewhere inbetween there is his desire to paint and draw for a living. The more he thinks about it the more overwhelmed he gets, so he conveniently chooses not to think about it. His goal right now is a lot simpler than that–if he is forced to come back to Hogsmeade, enjoy this festive Holiday celebration before he can’t anymore.

HOLIDAY DETAILS:

The Thomases were never big Christmas-celebrators in the whole Navity-set-and-going-to-church kind of way, but they do spend copious amounts of time watching Holiday specials that come on the telly and they have a tree with an unhealthy amount of tinsel. Dean’s step-father is a fantastic baker and Dean has a competition with him and his younger sister that involves cooking competitions and ginger snaps. His mother always ends up declaring it a tie because she can’t decide. He always valued coming home for the holidays simply because he recognized the traditions he was making with his half-sisters and knew that he wanted to be as involved as he possibly could. Being away from these traditions is enough reason for him not to want to go back to Hogsmeade, but he felt like he couldn’t say no. They crammed in as many of these traditions as they could before sending Dean off on his own.

OOC SUPPLEMENT:

SHIPS: I will not lie and say that Deamus makes me weep because clueless best friends to lovers hits a little too close to home for me, but I am also open to alternatives! Especially when Chemistry and Drama are thrown into the mix! Also super interested to flesh out Ginny and Dean’s past relationship, as I feel like that was not explored enough.

CHANGES: This is a very tiny tiny change, but I do think Dean will be excited to go to Hogsmeade. I always kind of thought of him as that guy who would actually want to go to a high school reunion of sorts, and I think it’s because he just loves his friends so gosh darn much!! He was robbed of a proper “Senior Year” and spent most of that year on the run. As a result, I think that he is spending a good portion of his life making up for lost time. Also because the kid loves a party, and a distraction.

FACECLAIM: Truly having a tough time debating between Keiynan Lonsdale and Alfie Enoch. I would not be mad with either!

All That You Can’t Leave Behind [Part 8/14]

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader, T’Challa x Reader

Warnings: None for this one.

Summary: Reader and T’Challa have a flight to catch in the morning.

You normally were the type of sleeper to wake up at least two or three times but your first night next to T’Challa was peaceful and deep.

In fact it was so deep you somehow missed whatever alarm had woken him up to get partially dressed and apparently order room service because you woke up to the tinking sound of a steel closh hitting a water glass. Your eyes blinked awake in an instant to see T’Challa looking apologetic as his careful surprise had been spoiled by one wrong movement.

You sat up from the warm stack of pillows around you and breathed in a deep, exaggerated breath. “Oh man, do I smell bacon?” T’Challa revealed two identical plates of waffles, bacon, sausage links, scrambled eggs and toast. Even more importantly there was a glass, not a shitty ceramic cup like in the hotels you were used to, of cappuccino with an artful design.

“Yes, it’s important you eat, it is going to be a big day.” Seeing you start to struggle to get upright he fussed, waving his hands, “No, stay there, let me bring it to you.” He placed the serving tray on your lap and kissed your forehead.

It was so thoughtful and romantic and just one of already so many attentive gestures he’d shown you. He clearly enjoyed to spoil his women. You wondered about the others who had been lucky enough to experience it, but you didn’t get too hung up on the thought because you were here now and they weren’t, and that was the beginning and end of any jealous feelings.

You got through two pieces of bacon and half of your waffle when you suddenly dropped your fork that clattered down on the plate. “Shit, what time is it? When are we leaving?”

“It’s 7:00, and we can leave whenever you are ready, although the ship will be here for us at 8:00.”

“Oh my GOD I forgot to pack!” you realized with horror. The suitcase was sitting in your apartment, empty. “Shit!” you cursed and started moving the plate to leave when T’Challa grabbed your arm.

“Hey, look at me.” You obeyed and looked into his warm brown eyes. “I have everything at my disposal at the palace. I’ve told you this Y/N, you will have everything you need. What is it you think you can’t live without?”

When you finally put your mind to it, it seemed silly the things you wanted to take like your favourite sweat pants, your makeup essentials, electronics you couldn’t do without. You murmured your answer listing off these few things and predictably T’Challa scoffed.

“First of all, I’m not going to allow sweat pants in my bedroom – you won’t last seconds in them.” His tone was firm and serious, but you responded with a cheeky “promise?” anyway. He returned right back to his impassioned speech. “Makeup you will have no problem finding, the palace is full of women who have all kinds and finally, we are the most technologically advanced civilization in the world. You will find ten devices better than anything you have in the first day.”

He was so focused on banishing these concerns of yours that you gave in, and your shoulders fell as you exhaled, mentally saying goodbye to the few comfort items you’d hoped to take along. “Okay, T’Challa. I believe you. I just want to do one thing before we go.”

His eyebrows lifted and you explained, “I need to message Steve.”

T’Challa smiled, cool as can be and said, “No need to, Steve will be joining us.”

T’Challa was holding your hand in a mostly empty, out-of-the-way parking lot that your driver had brought you to. It was 7:54. Even with the new comfort you had found with T’Challa, you still craned your neck around for Steve who was that touch of New York you already felt you needed close by going to such a different place.

“Hey!” Came a deep booming voice from Steve who was walking through the parking lot towards you in beige pants, a white V-neck and a brown jacket. As he came closer you admired again the beard he was growing and how it gave him such a different look, not that you didn’t enjoy that clean cut, all-American face.

Steve wrapped you both in a hug, first T’Challa and then you. You were being engulfed by his giant arms when the sound of an aircraft cut through the skies and suddenly appeared near you.

T’Challa looked up. “Ah, right on time.” His black robes and vibrantly coloured scarf were blowing slightly in the wind but not as much as one would expect from a ship much larger than a helicopter landing about twenty feet from you.

It was military-tech looking but strangely shaped, invoking an animal design. While you were marveling at it, an opening appeared and down a staircase and towards you walked three of the most beautifully fierce women you had ever seen.

They carried shining spears and their red, gold and silver armour was straight out of fantasy or even science fiction. You had never seen women look so fearless and your impression of Wakanda skyrocketed tenfold. The woman leading the three stopped a foot from you, her followers stopped too and all three tapped their spears to the ground in unison.

“Okoye,” T’Challa crossed his arms against his chest firmly, pressing his fists in a quick pump and she mimicked his motion.

“My King.” She responded, and looked behind him at Steve and you, not unkindly.

“These are my guests, you already know Steve,” Steve tipped his fingers in a light salute, “and this is Y/N, the programmer who will be graciously helping us.”

You had never felt so intimidated in your life nor more unsure of what to do or say. Okoye was so visually striking and beautiful you were dumb for words. You settled for a meek “Nice to meet you.”

“Y/N, Steve.” She looked between both of you, and then spoke to T’Challa in her accented voice. “Everything is ready.” As she turned back to the ship, T’Challa smiled and beckoned you to follow.

Steve caught up to you as you walked and bent down so that he could say in your ear, “Relax honey. I can tell you’re intimidated, but there’s no need.”

You flushed at knowing your nerves were so easily read. “I’ll try,” you affirmed back and he winked.

The ship’s interior was big enough for you to all be comfortably seated, with some benches for passenger seats. Okoye sat down in front of the large window at the front. You were taking everything in but your eyes kept coming back to T’Challa. You were already starting to wonder how you would be welcomed in his presence now that he was returning to his duties as King. A twinge of fear and insecurity gnawed at the edge of your thoughts. It seemed ludicrous you’d only known him for two days and were already starting to fear the loss of someone you’d only just begun to have.

Steve seated himself first and you slid up next to him, watching as Okoye seemed to summon the ship upwards with only her hands. The ship responded to the haptic motion smoothly and within moments the ship was lighter than air. You watched through the large window as the island of Manhattan became smaller and smaller until finally it was obscured by white clouds.

T’Challa settled down in the seat to your right. He hadn’t said much since you arrived on the ship except a few words to Okoye. You couldn’t be sure, but you felt a bit of tension that seemed to stem from you. It was just a guess, but you imagined T’Challa hadn’t figured out how to handle your recently blossoming interest in each other now that you were among his people; his hand that had rarely left yours in the last 48 hours now felt so far away in his lap. You recalled his comments about being kept naked in his bedroom and hoped that future was still in the cards, whether it was a well-kept secret or not.

Steve, who had a fine-tuned Y/N-meter and could always tell when something was up, brushed your arm with his fingers. “You okay?” he mouthed quietly so that nobody else could hear, although you saw how T’Challa shifted slightly and knew he was paying very close attention. You nodded in response to Steve’s concerned expression. He made it clear he wasn’t convinced but sensed you weren’t telling all at the moment for a reason.

Time passed with some conversation between Steve and T’Challa about their experiences with the Avengers and later on, the two friends started telling you stories about each other, and others in the group that got you laughing pretty hard. In quiet moments between conversation your eyes wandered back and forth from the hypnotic view out the window to the stoic and quiet T’Challa. He noticed your gaze a few times and returned it with a smile that looked more for your benefit than his.

You’d crossed continents and oceans in what seemed like a very short time and as the aircraft began descending through the clouds, your heart started beating harder as T’Challa stood and beckoned you and Steve over in front of the cockpit window.

“Oh, my,” you gasped as a mountainous, lush world appeared in front of you, an untouched corner of nature’s bounty rich with waterfalls, trees and all backed by the golden light of the African sun.

T’Challa’s pinky finger linked around yours, drawing your eyes from the breathtaking sight to his. “This is nothing. Watch.”

In front of you, you appeared to be heading down into the side of a mountain and you yelped and went to cover your eyes when an invisible shimmering fabric in the air reacted to the ship. As it passed through the field, a shining urban city glinted into existence, nestled majestically amongst a twisting river and nearby mountains, full of skyscrapers and city life in such an unexpected place.

Your hand involuntarily squeezed T’Challa’s in shock and surprise as your jaw fell open.

He squeezed back, smiling at the look on your face and said, “Welcome to Wakanda.”

Could I get a ship with bts? I’m 1.60m, a ‘00 liner and an infj of tunisian and italian descent.

Many people tell me that I’m very mature for my age and that I have a calming personality. Usually I’m pretty awkward and kinda shy at first, but when I open up I can be very quirky and fun to be around. But I need a lot to open up to people. I’m extremely reserved and often times people think I don’t care, which I do! I feel bad for the ones that are frequently around me because I can be quite moody. I’m also pretty clumsy. I try to take a lot with humor, so I don’t overthink too much (doesn‘t work), but I also know when I have to be serious. and I can also be pretty witty. I’m either a sweetheart or a sarcastic asshole, there’s no inbetween (joking). But most of the time I’m pretty nice. At least if you are a decent person. I’m a very caring and empathetic person and I always make sure, that the people around me feel comfortable. I don’t show my emotions much, but there’s always a lot going on in my head. I get hurt really easily and overthink every little detail. I need a lot of affection and appreciation, otherwise I’m gonna think that I did something wrong or that worthless. I’m a very passionate person. I always have the desire to travel around the world and see different cultures for myself. I want to study psychology to possibly become a therapist because I really really want to help people not in the physical way (doctor) but in the mental way. My hobbies are reading, drawing and just relaxing. I love reading fiction, mostly fantasy, romance and manga (I also love anime). I’ve always loved to draw. Death especially, since she still isn’t over her own mother’s passing. She still wakes up some mornings, or has moments where she’ll grab her phone, searching for her mother’s number or will start a conversation and wait for an answer. It’s definitely the one thing she hasn’t completely grasped.

She believes in it fairly firmly. There’s moments she still tries to be skeptical of it, but she’s had her own moments that she definitely attributes to spirits and things like that.
