also i have a ben bernanke one written down too and that would effectively just be moejoy slander so that would be funny

PERSON OF THE YEAR?
WF THOUGHTS (12/6/23).
I just cancelled my subscription to Time Magazine. You should do the same. The editors have lost their minds and they’ve totally destroyed the reputation of the magazine.
Every year since 1927, Time has selected a “Person of the Year.” The selection is made by the editors. The magazine publishes the selection criteria. The “Person of the Year” is supposed to be “a person, group, idea or concept” that “for better or worse. . .has done the most to influence the events of that year.”
This morning, Time announced the “Person of the Year” for 2023. The winner is Taylor Swift. Yes, you read that correctly. Taylor Swift.
I bet that at least half of the country doesn’t know anything about Taylor Swift. All I know is that she’s a pop singer and she runs around wearing almost nothing. I’m a very well informed person. I am unaware of anything that Taylor Swift has done in 2023 to influence significant events in America or anywhere else. She’s just a singer. She might be “Entertainer of the Year,” but she certainly shouldn’t be “Person of the Year.” All of the editors at Time should resign in shame.
When Time had competent and thoughtful editors, it made wonderful selections for “Person of the Year.” Here’s a quick rundown of all prior selections:
• 44 selections were rulers of countries.
• 11 selections were important groups of people, like “Middle Americans” or “”American Women” or “U.S. Scientists.”
• 7 selections were important inventors, scientists, or business leaders.
• 5 selections were leaders of important social or political movements.
• 3 selections were Popes.
• 3 selections were important politicians.
• 3 selections were important military leaders.
• 3 selections were important diplomats.
• 3 selections were important objects or concepts: “The Computer,” “The Endangered Earth,” and “The Spirit of Ukraine.”
• The remaining 4 selections were very important newsmakers who did something extremely important, such as: completing the first solo transatlantic flight (Charles Lindbergh);ordering Nixon to disclose the Watergate tapes (Judge John Sirica); precipitating the impeachment of Bill Clinton (Ken Starr); and saving America from an economic meltdown (Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke).
Take another look at that list. Do you see any singers? Of course not! No singer belongs on that list.
The Beatles were never named “Person of the Year.” The Rolling Stones were excluded too. Why? Because in all prior years the editors at Time took this job seriously and made a selection that related to something important. In 2023 the idiotic editors totally abandoned their normal standard. Taylor Swift did not do anything important in 2023. She sang songs and she sold tickets to her movie and concerts. How is that important?
This year, the editors stupidly rejected some other contenders that were on the list of finalists. That list included the “Trump Prosecutors” (in NY, Ga, and DC), King Charles, and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell (who appears to have navigated us through inflation without causing an economic meltdown). Any of those choices would have been excellent, and consistent with past standards. This Taylor Swift selection sticks out like a sore thumb.
I guess Time has become an entertainment magazine. Future recipients will probably include Adele, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga. I hear that Bono is lobbying to be “Person of the Year” in 2024. What a circus!
I’m done with Time Magazine. Why waste $30 on that trash? Do yourself a favor. Cancel your subscription and give the money to charity. That’s what I’ve done. Does that make me “Person of the Year”? Why not?

what i'm listening to 9/5/2022 (song notes under the cut)
spot link//yt link
trying something a little different where i put the songs in order from favorite to least favorite
Laura Les - Haunted: haunted. by laura les
Pitchshifter - Genius: this band is an unusual entry into the nu metal genre by virtue of being from the uk, where most acts hail from somewhere in the americas or asia. this is one of those songs that just *feels* good, like i'm chewing on the industrial crunch and overlapping vocals
Tallah - Shaken (not stirred): honestly this could have easily taken top spot. i genuinely cried upon hearing this for the first time from the sheer intensity. manic tallah-patented weirdness followed by an unexpected and very pretty harmonized singing section, followed by the most atrociously disgusting triple breakdown i've ever heard. cool to hear derrick doing some singing too!
Limp Bizkit - Welcome Home (Sanitarium): i know i've already posted about this one but it's just such a fun cover and i think the context is super funny, i just keep coming back to it
Ray Charles - I Got A Woman: remember last month when i included gold digger and said that i should just listen to more ray charles, since the sample was my favorite part of that song? well. i did
Limp Bizkit - No Sex: i reference this song a lot bc the title's funny but it's also genuinely kind of an interesting track. this one's about fred expressing to his partner that he feels like they rushed into the intimate part of their relationship too quickly, and now that's become the only foundation the relationship has. he wants to have a relationship, but he doesn't want to have to rely on only sex to keep it going. it's a surprisingly emotionally mature song to include on the same album as "nookie", and cements significant other as being... actually kinda really good
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World: another song that gets memed a lot, but this is just such a sweet little number. in particular, the lines "i hear babies cry, i watch them grow/they'll learn much more than i'll ever know" makes me want to cry. what a beautiful sentiment, to rejoice that our children and our children's children may inherit a world better and wider and more full of love and wonder than we could ever imagine..... 💜
Supertramp - The Logical Song: one of those songs you hear a million times and never think twice about until you listen to the lyrics. i've been listening to this album on a mutual's recommendation (i wonder if you'll read this?) and it's been a fun time! planning on checking out some of the other stuff when i find the time
Godsmack - Serenity: tbh i never used to like godsmack. i don't think sully erna is a good singer, and their songs are pretty simple and hacky. i did buy this album as part of one of my thrift store hauls, though, and this closing track really struck me. like a lot of abrasive post-grunge bands, i think they're a lot better when they tone it down a little bit. this song reminds me of silently, desperately wandering through the desert
Vanilla Ice - Nightmare Disco: oh boy where to start. i'm a big vanilla ice fan (like, 70% ironically) and i never expected to like anything from his disastrous (and, to date, most recent) album W.T.F., but this one's kinda fun, it's like a dark dance pop track. there are a couple of halloween-y tracks on that record, and this is one of them. gotta love the spooky vibes! unless you're vanilla's team, apparently, as this album is not available anywhere on youtube
Almighty Cover Girlz - Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down (Almighty 12" Anthem Mix): damn could you make the name a little longer maybe?? normally i wouldn't even type all that out but they also have two other similarly named remixes of this song. this was an everynoise dot com find, and i was glad because i think alicia keys is a great performer but i've never liked this song. this mix brings it the extra mile for me
Lemon Demon - Ben Bernanke: this played on chase clown_depot's mediashare stream and i've had it in my head since. not much else to say, it's just another lemon demon song that i enjoy immensely
Bush - Comedown: not much to say here, either. another uncommon uk contender, and a far more successful one at that. not my favorite bush song, but it's the one i've had in my head. help
Pitchshifter - Microwaved: hey they're back! i was pleasantly surprised by this song taking on the sort of shitty fake plastic feeling that modern capitalist society has been permeated with. i've been revisiting the "leftist nu metal" playlist i had promised (and never delivered whoops) in a previous post and this was a good find. not as tastey sounds as genius but still worth the listen
A Perfect Circle - Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums: speaking of both left-wing nu metal and long as fuck titles... this is an anti-bush song that doesn't really land, but is a cool track independent of that nonetheless
Edison Lighthouse - Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes): one-hit wonder with a really weird story behind it. i would highly recommend the todd one hit wonderland video about this, that's how i first heard about it
Vanilla Ice - Hate: return of the ice-man. this is the type of song that got me into his music in the first place. i'm easy, really. i'll go for basically any nu metal i can find. nothing too special about this one, though, it's just catchy
SR-71 - Tomorrow: the last two songs here are placed next to each other on purpose. this was pop punk band SR-71's attempt at transforming themselves into clones of linkin park after hybrid theory started selling like hotcakes. they did a surprisingly decent job, getting the production and singing style nearly dead-on; however, they predictably didn't get very far with this maneuver
Crazy Town - Drowning: this was nu metal band crazy town's attempt at transforming themselves into clones of linkin park after hybrid theory started selling like hotcakes. being a nu metal band that already had dual vocalists and a dj, you would think they had an easier time of it than SR-71, right? nope. drowning is far less believable as a linkin park than tomorrow, which is pretty embarrassing for these guys. oh well, they can add it to their list

Thank you for your reasoning as to why lemon demon sucks. I've literally been wanting to say that to my friends for a long time lol. Plus like in his music you can literally hear the vocal alterations and pitching. ngl I think his songs are funny and whatever but people definitely need to accept he's just not that good of a singer
listen i love lemon demon like im the cringe ass baby who listens to ben bernanke without headphones but we gotta be honest with ourselves. he's funny and i am a fan of the music but it's no masterpiece. it was never meant to be that. it's simply an internet guy expressing himself. music doesn't have to be good, it just has to come from the heart. i 100% think you should tell your friends he's a bad singer tho, and you should tell me how it turns out.

A Mostly Complete Spreadsheet Of Every* Lemon Demon Live Performance
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-fS-vMZ5o7MOE8IFYINUTHU-rMqS4MUQRs2NQILEHf0/edit?usp=sharing
Full disclosure - the asterisk is because some Lemon Demon live setlists are just straight up lost. These are marked at cell U1 (to the right of 2012-11-02). If you were at these shows and have video/audio or remember specific elements of the setlist, please contact me at @lyricsneilcic on twitter (or here works too!)
Although I’m not done with adding videos to the spreadsheet, any cell with a note should be checked. 80% of the time they have a video you can watch, hosted on YouTube or perhaps elsewhere.
Here’s some cool facts:
- The most played song was The Ultimate Showdown with 12 known plays (makes sense)
- Second place was Fine with 10 plays, then Action Movie Hero Boy/White Bread Boyfriend with 9
- The least played Lemon Demon song is actually a whole bunch of them, but the most notable examples are Spring Heeled Jack, Lawnmower, and Ben Bernanke with 1 play each
- Consumer Whore and Ode To Crayola were both played at 6 shows in a row, though technically counting Consumer Whore is cheating (it was partial at Awesomefest 2006, just being a soundcheck)
- Songs Neil played live that were a bit unexpected include Mr. Porta Potty Man (1), the theme from House (3), Dance Like An Idiot (2), and Ebaums World Dot Com (1)
- Dead Sea Monkeys, Fancy Pants Manifesto, and Matches and Nails were never played at shows that I have setlists for, but live backings exist so it can be inferred these were at shows which have lost setlists. If you have any recordings of these, please contact me. The archivist in me NEEDS this.

YOU HAD NO IDEA HOW MANY TIMES I SCREAMED-
1. This Devil’s Workday by Modest Mouse: At first, it may just seem like random shit, but then the playlist with the song is about a sadistic and masochistic crimimal and/or outlaw going mad.
2. Forbidden Fruit from Sanders Sides: This one is self explanatory. This is, probably, where Remus makes his grand introduction, opposite towards Roman’s ‘A Gay Disney Prince.’
3. Double Team by Tenacious D: OPPOSITE TO ROMANS I’M SCREAMING (Wonderboy) IT’S BY THE SAME SINGER. The song is about a man’s sexual encounter, of course, but I think it could be about the Dark Sides just being them. Or perhaps platonic brotherly bonding, but of course Remus has to say it in that context?
4. Man by Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Platonic, romantic or sexual. Just makes me wonder who the man is.
5. Freeee by Ty Dolla $ign: Though it may seem very laid back at first, the song and album (KIDS SEE GHOSTS) is about not giving a fuck about other’s opinions and breaking the boundries made by social norms. It actually gets pretty political. Of course, Remus is either just Remus-ing, or is kind of breaking down.
6. In The Room Where You Sleep by Dead Man’s Bones: I saw this on another playlist, lol. TI’m pretty confused about this one because of all the possibilities. It could be about Remus installing fear in Virgil or Thomas. It could be about the seperation of the brothers, or it could be Remus missing someone?
7. No Reason Boner by Ninja Sex Party: Could just be a boner, however the lyrics ‘There are three, three, three kinds of erections. Some are sexual, some occur during periods of nervous tension’ (I can’t believe I’m actually analyzing a song about boners) that make me think that Remus just doesn’t know what the fuck is happening and the boner just being him being affected by other people and feeling the more unsavoury feelings. But then again, could just be a boner.
8. I Told You I Was Freaky by Flight Of The Conchords: I don’t know who, but someone is just done with Remus. By my last playlist, I am assuming it’s Janus.
9. Queef by Awkwafina: Incase you don’t know what queefing is, queefing is an expulsion of air from the vagina, mainly from sex. The song is about the singer being the best queefer around. Of course, Remus doesn’t have a vagina(?) so it could just be about him being the most open, unbothered and true to himself.
10. Manners by Ashnikko: The song is about a sexual-charged girl that couldn’t care less, and puts her more raunchy side out their despite belief that she’s cute and helpless. Again, Remus is just swell and great despite others hiding it and claiming he’s the one that needs help, and he won’t stop being true to himself soon. In DWIT, Virgil has a grudge against Remus and was scared of him, so it could be commentary on him, or just in general.
11. Lemon Demon by Ben Bernanke: For those who need context, the singer recorded a video in old Youtube and remains an example of old internet being weird as fuck (for some, anyway) which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/lTvW2IyhwZw. It could possibly be Remus commenting on Virgil becoming a Light Side. Or, on someone else. Maybe Janus, Logan, Thomas, Roman or all of them.
12. Worldwide Torture by Jazmin Bean: Saw this in the other playlist lol. Remus is not quitting and is determined to make all these things true.
13. Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) by My Chemical Romance: YOU HAD NO IDEA HOW LOUDLY I GASPED WHEN I LITERALLY HEARD ‘The future is bulletproof!’ AND I KNEW WHICH SONG THIS WAS. The song is a commentary about society, and a multitude of other things. In short, Remus knows all these things are happening to the other sides, but no one is helping. This could be talking to Janus and/or Virgil (also spider!Virgil headcannoners, lines like ‘eight legs to the wall’ link to the logo, the fact that it’s MCR, and the verse just generally sounds like he could be talking to him.)
14. Trash People by Cherry Glazerr: ALSO KNEW THIS ONE. It could be about anyone, but I think the song can relate to people with certain mental issues and decide to choose a life of hedonism to cover it up. Sounds a bit miserable compared to the previous one.
15. Tranz by Gorillaz: ALSO KNEW THIS. The track often turns to and LSD trip, or sex after a party. However, it seems like the singer wants to feel incredible again by trying to stimulate a feeling of dopamine, which some have said is behind all sins and evil actions. Some people say some lyrics can be a trans person (which leans in with the bit in 9,) or the genre of trance.
16. Death As A Fetish by STRFKR: Oops, Remus has self worth issues. Death as a fetish is the singer having suicidal thoughts, with nobody around to help him.
17. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen: Remus says fuck it, fuck them, and has a swell time improving (and yet another song.) He deeply wants to help the others, but they probably decline. Or this could be forced and only temporary, but maybe not.
18. Things I Don’t Remember by Ugly Cansanova: I’m guessing that the singer has just woken up from a trip and/or a party. Hopefully it is about Remus saying about what happened to the other sides to get to this point.
19. Fuck It! by Jessie Reyez: Literally, Remus says fuck it, fuck them, fuck everything. This is either really good (helping others with his advice) or really bad (accepting his feelings of hate after, I am guessing, SvS Redux.) However, he could still have tension between someone. There’s two singers in this, so the other one could be the Orange Side.
20. fReAkY 4 Life by Dorian Electra: Remus is Remus, and nobody is going to take that away from him. Creativity is expressed in both ways, and Remus is just as valid as Roman and is here to stay. This is either really good (first option in 19) or really bad (20.)

Thoughts About Remus' Playlist
So as usual, this is my first reaction/rant/analysis about the playlist! This time, it’s Remus’ Playlist. I think it’s going to be cursed. But a... good cursed, if that’s a thing. As usual, feel free to add on to this! It’s good to share thoughts and talk about meanings, even making predictions about the future!
General Overview Before Listening: I love Yugen_sama ‘s artwork; her style makes me happy! Also, Remus doing that? TOTALLY HIM. Just looking at the choice of songs does mirror Roman’s playlist in a way with their own anthems, Tenacious D, maybe an etc. We’ll have to see on that. His explanation with all the emojis is definitely him, and I think that’s all I can say. Just look at it.
Reminder: Before we go on, a little reminder for your safety. The songs can be quite... a handful. If you know about Remus’ personality and interests but still wanna read the overall analysis, go to the TL:DR at the way bottom without reading the specific song analysis. If you remember the TW from the video, that really applies here. Stay safe.
Song Analysis:
This Devil’s Workday: Genius told me that this is about a criminal going mad. Yeah. The blazing trumpets and the really radio-like voice in the song is kinda creepy, but that goes with Remus as intrusive thoughts! He’s very obtrusive, and he’s everywhere without any filter. It’s a good intro to his character. The poor sack of puppies in this song goes back to his theme’s lyric, “your pet dog stuffed into a sausage” Also, the repetition of “All the people that you know / Floating on the river are logs” is like what he does to Thomas (repetitively reminding him about the bad things). The  “Oh I am my own da[ng] God” goes along with all the biblical references he makes in his theme (and just the dark sides in general). All in all, this song/introduction just is him screeching, “HI, I’M YOUR INTRUSIVE THOUGHT WITHOUT THE UGH.”
Forbidden Fruit (the Duke’s Theme): If you are a Fander, you definitely are singing/screaming this on top of your lungs as you listen to this. I did that, and I love that. This song itself has a lot of good analysis online, so check them out! It was the intro song of the Duke with all his motives, thoughts, and everything beyond that, so it’s definitely on here. Also, it mirrors A Gay Disney Prince from Roman’s playlist by both being their own “I want” songs as well as their character role songs. The Creativitwins strike here once.
Double Team: Tenacious D! The Creativitwins strike here again! Wonderboy was on Roman’s playlist, which is also a Tenacious D song, so you can definitely say there are some mirroring going on here (also! YES the artist choice seems like a definite factor in choosing these songs). So this song is about having sex. Okay. And having a threesome. Okay, Remus. This song, even though it’s from the same artist as Roman, has a really different theme. If the Tenacious D selection is about the twins, would this mean that Roman wants them to be a really good team who, even though are opposites, can get along, while Remus wants them both to lose the filter and have fun? Overall, it could mean that the twins both want to get along, just in different ways which contradict one another. I’m not going into the lyric details because oof.
Man: I just noticed that Yeah Yeah Yeahs was on Patton’s and Virgil’s playlists. On Remus? I didn’t really expect that, but that’s a pleasant surprise. This song is really interesting because it’s not like the other two. This song, for me, is about someone who is obsessed with a man who would make her do anything, and she’s just hooking up with him or something. Also, the whole, “You're all gonna burn in hell / I said we're all gonna burn in hell” goes back to the biblical references that the Dark Sides make as well as the lyric of “Cause your head's not in the gutter, pal / It's in Hell.” Who is the man? Thomas, probably. This probably directs back to Remus convincing Thomas to drop the filter.
Freeee: “When man becomes possessor of the knowledge of himself, he becomes the master of his environment“ in the beginning of the song is Remus telling Thomas to learn about himself by possibly accepting Remus. The lyrics “One day they hate you / Next day they love you / I'm still yellin' "F[*]ck 'em" / I could never trust—” show how Remus doesn’t trust the society like Janus, and that’s just one of the main core of the dark sides. They don’t trust people that much. This does include Virgil since he is anxiety, so he can’t trust everything immediately. They all have different ways of showing the distrust. For Remus, it’s the layback, “frick it” attitude. “I don’t feel pain anymore” and “nothin’ hurts me anymore” seems to be a potential for Remus angst of being rejected from all the sides and being the “Evil Twin”. Does he care or not care? No one knows yet.
In The Room Where You Sleep: Sleep from the shorts and Virgil will both react really strongly to this song. Why? “There's something in the shadows / In the corner of your room / A dark heart is beating / And waiting for you” (Telltale Heart reference-). Yeah. Remus listening to this would go back to that end card of Remus being creepy (and eating deodorant). Also, it possibly demonstrates Virgil and Remus’ relationship; Remus scared Virgil because of his thoughts and conjectures. The repetition of “You better run / You better hide” would also contribute to this thought, definitely. But then again, that melancholy keyboard... Why that montage at the end?
No Reason Boner: The song is very catchy and funny. But ASDKLFAJSD. This is definitely Remus’ type of song. That means that the sexual information is given control to Remus, and he probably uses the information for his jokes and intrusive thoughts. This song is what Remus' personality is: goofy yet NSFW. This intrusive thought without the ugh is probably lovable in this fandom because of that. Also, I don’t know why, but he can have that naivete even though he’s the one in charge of stuff like that. A nice juxtaposition right there.
I Told You I Was Freaky: This playlist is a RIDE. VERY MUCH A RIDE. Just all the sexual references in this song are just 1000% Remus. The song itself is quite whispery, and I guess that goes with Remus because he whispers the dirty stuff into Thomas’ ears. Well, whisper is very much an understatement. But I have to admit, if you listen to the lyrics, there are some very creative ways that people don’t think of. It’s usually a bed, a car, or in a club or party, but the lyrics are more than that. Then, we can assume how capable and skilled Remus is as the Dark Creativity; he’s as good as Roman, just in a different category.
Queef: If you don’t know what a queef is, I didn’t too. I just looked it up while I was typing this. Wait, isn’t Awkwafina in like a movie? This, like that last song, is basically him going off on his creativity and wordplay. In future episodes, I would love to see how Remus can go off with his wordplay because if Roman’s good at all the nicknames, and if Remus is basically him but darker, that means he’s good. Like really good. This song is also very, very catchy, and I kinda jammed through it because of the beat.
Manners: According to genius, this song is a "sexually-charged bad b[*]tch anthem on which Ashnikko displays her “IDGAF”-attitude.” Basically, the vine, “I’M A BAD B*TCH YOU CAN’T KILL ME” would equate to Remus as well as the meme, “Aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you want to go APESH*T-.” This might connect with his facade in a way because he seems to be naive and goofy at times (although NSFW), but when he drops it, he drops it fast, and he drops it hard. For example, his facade drops when he threatened Logan in DWIT, and his facade can be picked back up quickly, too. This song also has the element of “Frick this world” attitude, which Remus showed in the previous songs, and I stan him. As the fandom did an edit once, he would definitely wear acrylic nails if he wants to. A thing that I did notice though is the lyric “Fight or flight, I’m fighting for my life.” HI VIRGIL!
Ben Bernanke: I don’t know who Spencer is, but a big OOF for him. This song’s structure is really unique because I have no clue where it’s going, and it’s going with Remus’ personality of just randomness and intrusivity (is that a word?). ALSO, the continuing snakes in these songs. So is Spencer Janus in our context? If so, Remus is quite mad at Janus. I do see why though, after that last video implying that he’s the Evil Twin. “Do you think you can mock me, Spencer? / Do you think you can capture my essence / And throw it back at me with / Humor and rhetorical devices?” Gosh, Janus and Remus could have beef with one another. Also, that “Avada Kedavra” and “I’m... a furious magician” could definitely foreshadow something in the future. Additionally, “You're the architect of my dreams, Spencer / You plan them, and build them on blue paper / And hand them to me / And then I dream them, Spencer.”
Worldwide Torture: “I never come second place / Always been a big disgrace Smell the fear, I know you see / High achiever (Yeah, that's me!)” Welcome to Remus’ angst that we do not know much about yet. It’s great. It’s just like Roman, but in a more “I’m a disappointment” way! However, what’s quite different is that Remus is pissed. Beyond pissed about it, so he acts up unlike Roman who tries to mask it. Because he knows that he’s not regarded nicely with any of the sides, he wants to molest them and destroy the world, shown by the lyrics “A pure violation of God's great creation / It’s an infestation, it’s world domination.” I think this issue might pop up more frequently as more episodes come out, but for now, this is my assumption. Out of context, “The highest score” goes with that last episode, since Remus was present as the 80085.
Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na): I DIDN’T EXPECT THIS TO BE HERE, BUT I LOVE IT. THANK YOU. WOOOOOO YASSSS. This is actually one of the “pump me up” songs. First, “Eight legs to the wall, hit the gas, kill them all” is, obviously, a spider in the song, but in our context, we can also call it an octopus because Remus’ animal is an octopus, which has 8 tentacles (6 legs and 2 arms). Second, Remus is PISSED. He definitely has a punk aesthetic, shown by all the songs about flipping the world. The lyrics “I’d rather to to Hell / Than be in purgatory” definitely shows his determination of doing so since he’s saying that he won’t sit back. Somehow, for me it’s a growth from the beginning of “I don’t care” to “I actually care, and I’m fighting for that sh*t”. Pissed off Remus is scary Remus.
Trash People: Trash rat boiiiii. But this song is more than that. It’s showing that trash people aren’t really... trash people. “ Art is love and love is sloppy / Nothing is all pure / Nothing is all dirty” really shows the whole duality aspect in the entire series. Everything is gray. And that’s what Roman and Remus need to work on since they were divided by the black and white mentality. If Remus is okay with the gray morality, then who would be the one that he’s directing this song to? Roman. “Wearing a smile and a heart on my sleeve” though. I don’t get this lyric, but then again, tell me what you guys think! Does this mean that Remus is actually trying to be like this, or is he mocking Roman... The “no time to start over” also sounds really ominous.
Tranz: Gorillaz! Same album as Roma-OKAY THIS IS GETTING REAL. The last one with this artist had the lyrics, “I’m the lonely twin, the left hand... I don’t want this isolation.” People were screaming about this because, of course, this refers to Remus, but who knew that this was going to pop up again! That’s why I loved the artist connections during these analysis. Anyways, this goes back to the twin duality, but more of an angry tune. Take a look at this: “Do you look like me? Do you feel like me? / Do you turn into your effigy? / Do you dance like this forever?” Remember Roman’s whole monologue about Remus as someone he sees in the mirror with all the things he doesn’t want to be? This song is Remus asking Roman about that statement. Keep in mind that effigy is a sculpture that is usually used to mock or burn and is used as a negative connotation (thank you my English teacher). Remus doesn’t like that comparison at all, and I’m more concerned for him now than I was ever before after Janus saying that too.
Death as a Fetish: Wow, this is sad. “And I will never be good enough, quietly / And you will never be good enough, just like me.” If the twins have the time to reconcile, this is probably the first thing they need to help out on each other. Remus knows more about his twin than we all thought, and he knows that both of them have problems about that. On the other hand, this song, when I looked at some of the annotations on genius, has a sad connotation. Life is so short, and it ends, and you know for sure that death is there at all times with that repetition of “death as a fetish” after everything we find positive. For Remus, I guess he knows about this. He’s a deeper character than we credit him as.
Don’t Stop Me Now: TONIIIIGHT IM GONNA HAVE MYSEEEELF A GOOD TIIME- okay. This song is something I scream my lyrics to. I also didn’t expect this, but in a calmer manner (because I wasn’t calm when this was on), yes please. Basically, DON’T STOP ME NOWWW! I don’t know how to explain this in a deeper way. Yeah. I LOVE THIS SONG THOUGH!
Things I Don’t Remember: “Things I don't remember / How the hell'd we get here? / How the hell did we get here?” This can be interpreted in a lot of ways. It could either be how all the sides came to be, how Roman and Remus came to be by both having the role of creativity, or just where Thomas is mentally since they are all Thomas. I think that’s depending on how you want to go about it. The last point is the strongest for me because of this one phrase of  “There were endless conversations / No one's mouths were really moving” maybe referring to the sides’ conversations around Thomas’ dilemmas. They sometimes only make it worse until someone has to kick in to change the viewpoint around, and that’s the reason why it feels like nobody’s mouths were really moving. Also, dressed up alligators? Okay, Remus.
F*ck It!: (Censored by yours truly with her notecard of “note your language”) The album name of taxidermy... fitting. Back to the song. “Why abstain? Why jump in line?” and “They say don't take the risk you're sure to fail... But what's the worst that could happen, end up in a coffin? / Isn't that where we're all headed anyway?” really highlights Remus’ spontaneity, which is a big factor in intrusive thoughts. This is back to the “frick this”, but more a “frick it I’m doing that sh*t, and I don’t care about the consequences” (going back to Na Na Na on that). Also, “'Cause it's easier to lie to yourself than to face reality” reminded me of Janus, but does this also apply to Remus in a way? Or does this apply to all the sides who are lying to themselves, especially Roman? Anyways, Remus’ spontaneity is something to kinda look up to at times. Not... not all the time.
fReAkY 4 Life: Dorian Electra... the one behind Flamboyant from ROMAN’S PLAYLIST! The Creativitwins music solidarity number I-forgot-to-count. To the lyrics! “They just don't understand me / I'm not like them, I'm freaky” does go to all the other sides and Thomas because Remus really stands out from all the other sides. Silly yet NSFW, weird, and very new. Also, he seems to want some attention from all the sides with “ I like to be in the spotlight / Step on the scene ’cause it feels right / I freakin' scream, baby, all night / I do it, I do it, do it all the time,” but is it a distraction or legitimate attention? I love how this song is the finale because this song is the fireworks that says Remus. All the lyrics really match him, and especially with the “I hear what they call me / I hear what they say / I'm not very cool, yeah / But I'll never change,” it cements how Remus thinks.
TL:DR:
Remus is a character deeper than we already know him as. There are a lot of him that hasn’t been introduced to us since he’s pretty new. He has been on for about 2-3 episodes (only 1 with his full participation), and he never really interacted with Roman nor Janus, both who has a history with our little gremlin. Yes, Remus is the Duke of Dark Creativity and intrusive thoughts; there are so many references that are R-rated in this playlist, but in the end, he is another side. He more than the trash boi who gleefully talks about sensitive topics.
He still has a connection with Roman with all the overlaps in their insecurities and artists, and he’s probably the one who’s more knowledgeable about their relationship as a twin. He could even want to reconcile with his twin, but in a way that Roman would not approve. That doesn’t mean that Remus is kinda mad at Roman. A fun house mirror.
Next, He doesn’t want to change himself in the sake of others although he knows that the others hate him for being him, and he’s actively going against it, not caring about the consequences. That’s what drives him to be really good at his job. He’s as good as Roman on doing his job. Along with that, he wants Thomas to embrace him as one of the sides and come over to the dark side of creativity. It’s one of Remus’ biggest dreams: acceptance. I want to see how this plays out with him and especially him.
Finally, he’s pissed. Very pissed. After all the berating at his back from all the other sides, including Janus, he’s PISSED. He’s ready to throw hands and wreck the world. I’m starting to be worried for how his character would develop. If he goes apesh*t, I’m getting popcorn and coke. Maybe drink every time we see him go feral. Eat a popcorn every time someone is disgusted by Remus.
Overall, I love him more than I ever did because of this playlist since music is the window to the soul. It’s like knowing a person and learning about them. Also, by doing this, it really develops the character and lets the people look inside the character’s deepest thoughts and desires. I don’t know if there will be any additions to these, but if not, I really want to thank the entire group who made this happen! I found some songs that I really love now, and it’s such a good way for the fanders to have fun! (also, the content inspired from this is going to be very interesting)(the ANGST)
Thanks for reading if you came til here, and feel free to add on to this! I would love to see how you guys think about this playlist!

sequel(?) to the two trucks post: my mom has heard other "weird" lemon demon songs (i.e. ben bernanke, sweet bod, etc) but what happened is one day me and my mom had been talking about lemon demon and then out of nowhere she went "do they have a song called two trucks." in this super serious voice and i had never been so scared about a song---a LEMON DEMON song until that very moment, and i never expected her to like it. when i played two trucks i was ready for a "oh this is,, weird,," or even a "change the song/turn this off" but no, i got:
"this.. actually sounds pretty good; i like it!"

So I listened to all of the Side tracks and I thought I’d make a quick summary of each for those who are debating checking them out.
people who say “but these playlists have been out forever” you’re right but I’m fashionably late
They’re listed in order of my personal preference (sorry Virge)
Virgil’s Playlist:
the second-longest at 1h 13 min
pretty much exactly what you’d expect in terms of music- predominantly emo/rock songs
most of the songs seem to be about his past with the Dark Sides and his journey over the course of the series
in my opinion, Virgil’s offers the least new information about his character, as the songs don’t give us much we didn’t already know/wasn’t already implied
my personal favorite songs were Be Calm, Sally’s Song, and Ignorance
my least favorite was Sunrise, Sunset
Even if it was my least-favorite playlist overall, it’s still pretty fun to listen to bc it lowkey slaps
Patton’s Playlist:
the shortest at 1hr 4min
passes the vibe check with acoustic guitar, nostalgia, soft/soothing songs- aura of calm
gives perspective on Patton’s character and outlook on life; there were songs about his tendency to assume the best in people, the love/concern he has for the other Sides, the battles he’s currently fighting with himself/how he’s processing POF, and how he feels about his past mistakes
Like Virgil, there’s not a ton of new information, but Patton’s playlist definitely deepened my understanding and appreciation of him
my favorite song by far was Sad (not really because it was about Virgil- I just really liked the song)
I didn’t have a least-favorite song :D
but if you’re someone who likes stimulating/high-energy music, this is not the playlist for you
Remus’s Playlist
the second-shortest at 1h 5min (you thought the colors would correspond to the Side in question, but they’re actually according to length sorry)
as you would expect, this playlist is... odd. It doesn’t stick as tightly to one genre as V and Pat did. I’m atrociously bad at identifying genres but uhh it has alt pop, rock, and lots of synth/electro-pop stuff idk I’m bad at this
Remus’s playlist basically boils down to the recognition that he’s the only Side who’s truly free, and he revels in it. Also he and Roman definitely have some stuff to work out jeez
It’s also really, really funny. I laughed a lot and I was super entertained listening to it because it’s so bizarre and not-PG and Remus
My favorite songs were In The Room Where You Sleep, Ben Bernanke, Tranz, and Don’t Stop Me Now
my least favorite was probably Queef (I can’t believe I just typed out the word queef jesus christ)
If you’re willing to hear some explicit lyrics, Remus’s playlist is a vibe, if a really weird one
I can’t stop listening to Tranz seriously help me
(I loved Roman, Janus, and Logan’s playlists so much that I can’t choose between them lmao. at this point the ranking becomes arbitrary)
Logan’s Playlist
the third-shortest at 1h 6min
Logan’s playlist has pop, rap, and a surprising number of songs from soundtracks and comedians
Logan’s playlist has a clearly defined arc(!!) It tells a story that will likely be mirrored in the series proper- Logan’s feelings of being ignored come to a tipping point and he lashes out big-time before he finally begins to accept who he is and stop forcing himself to fit the narrow role of “Logic”
I understand Logan’s thought process more now, I think. What really got me, though, was how much vulnerability his song choices seemed to show, especially in the last few songs or so (I’m rhyming :D)
My favorite songs were Algorhythm, The Watchtower, Streaks, One More Time With Feeling, and Time Adventure
my least favorites were Fitter Happier and Human (the latter mostly bc it’s really, reallllly long)
If you’re a Logan stan (or someone who likes him a normal amount), I cannot recommend his playlist enough
Janus’s Playlist
the third-longest at 1hr 12min
the memes are correct. This bitch is jazzy and it’s absolutely fantastic. There’s also a fair number of songs from musicals (Chicago, Hadestown, Cabaret(?), The Jungle Book(?), uh maybe more but I’m not actually much of a theater kid 😳)
come get y’alls Sympathetic Deceit content or whatever the damn tag is called. There’s a lot of good insight into Janus’s motivations and feelings about Virgil (surprise: he misses him), and a few songs about how fun and sexy it is to be evil >:D
like Logan, there’s some hidden vulnerability that comes to the surface and it’s so wonderful. Janus has always seen himself as the protector at odds with the “Light Sides”, and now that he’s been accepted he doesn’t really know how to deal with the change
favorite songs were Black Hole Sun, When The Chips Are Down, As Far As I Can See, and Come Little Children
those songs are all fine and good, but You’re A Cad is fucking amazing I-
no clear least-favorite
Janus wins Most Committed To A Very Specific Vibe. It’s an immaculate vibe, so good for him
Roman’s Playlist
the longest at 1hr 20min (damn Roman ok)
SO! MANY! BOPS! Unsurprisingly, lots of musicals, Disney, and pop
Roman’s playlist gave me so many feelings- he was my “least-favorite” Side but not anymore
yes the playlist is that good (at least to me)
The songs convey how Roman is hopeful, dreamy, excitable, optimistic, and so, so fragile. There are some allusions to Remus that i can’t wait for the series to explore...
I am more attached to my favorites from Roman’s because they SLAP
imo the most rocking songs were Broadway, Here I Come!, Hallelujah, Holding Out for A Hero, Flamboyant, Primadonna, and Cheap Queen (edit: I FORGOT JUMPSTARTED HOW??)
cmon Roman stans ik most of you have listened to this playlist but those who haven’t ITS GOES SO HARD and then gets really quiet and soft at the end 🥺
yeah I think Roman’s is my favorite playlist
That about sums things up! Happy listening! I read through this again before posting it and I just get more and more deranged nice
(Me later today when the team releases Thomas’s or Orange’s playlist: 🤡🤡🤡)

Fave lemon demon song with odd musical qualities? Ben Bernanke is something I can't not sing.
not to be dramatic but i like pretty much everything lemon demon makes, like. even when it's the earlier and more unpolished works, there's some quality to his songs that just appeal to me on a primal level and i connect with them instantly, it's weird!
but to answer the question, i never can get bill watterson out of my head. that stupid chorus with the meow part is stuck on my brain forever i guess
