I've read quite a few fics where some bigot decides to ruin Miles' day and Hobie comes to the rescue, which is all good and fine I suppose

I love the fact that the way to show this is Bondrewd is him patting Prushka's head. It's a thing he does with all the kids he takes care of. It's a great little detail here that hints towards the reveal of what is going to happen. No other umbra hand has been shown to do this.
