Don’t let the internet lie to you earthspark s2 (part 1) good just the usual “over dadification” of a fandom creating their own version of a piece of media in their heads that ends up soooo out of touch with its own source material, and it ends making people see the actual media itself as out of character because it didn’t go the way the fandom warped brain made them think 🤷‍♂️

Annual reminder that Aang wasn't a terrible dad, that one episode was badly written and had poor perspective. Aang was a busy, working dad who had a lot of stuff to do, and then suddenly his third kid was a full-on Airbender and he was literally the only one qualified to teach this baby, so then he finally had an excuse to put his family before his duties ("My family IS my duty now, suckers!!!"), and so Kya and Bumi were all "What the heck, Dad???" because they were now teens (iirc) and they missed out on all that stuff.

It was basically Aang going from "my family has 20% of my time" to "my family has 40% of my time". Still not enough, probably, but Aang could finally go and explore his own culture without feeling guilty about leaving the rest of the world to fend for itself.

#poor dude probably had all kinds of mental issues #also literally everything else about his dadhood has been outstanding #his son gets a high rank in the navy #his lesbian daughter gets to go do her thing #tenzin had it hardest of all the kids #we can also get into the whole part where Aang's whole culture separated parents from their kids #so he wasn't exactly raised with a child-to-biological-parent bond himself #the perils of culture clash...especially with a devoted water tribe mother #you've got a culture that says ''Family is EVERYTHING parents will teach their children for LIFE''#meeting a culture that says ''Everyone in the world is your family so you have to treat them equally''#.....gosh that story really needs to be explored more #and they could NOT have delivered it more clumsily #or wrapped it up more frustratingly #''here we are lamenting all our insecurities and inner doubts but LOOK THIS FAMILY PHOTO SHOWS US HAPPY WE MUST HAVE BEEN HAPPY''#I mean...they were #but it was also poorly executed #legend of korra #tlok #atla #how to tell the casuals from those who take this seriously #''aang was a bad dad'' do you even READ SUBTEXT

I find it kind of disheartening to see posts complaining of the love Andy from Alien: Romulus is getting. Like to go through the tags to see a post talking about me (cause I'm not seeing any other ones calling Andy a Retriever), assuming I'm infantilizing him because I called him cute???

Like where do you get that from? Yes, I understand how big the gap is between poc characters and their white counterparts, but I don't like the fact they were quick to jump and place me in that box when the fact they don't even know I'm a black autistic writer in the process of some drafts focusing on Andy. To be quick to assume I will praise and focus on white male characters than him os WILD.

I messaged them privately to say I'm not doing that, but me personally, I just had to make a official post to get this off my chest

Like damn I can't call him cute?? No worries, I blocked them so they won't have to see any of my future content when I officially start posting Andy fics.

#Every time I read an article that talks about Yuki’s outstanding form this season #and about Daniel’s either unimpressive form or how RBR are giving Daniel the opportunity still to impress them #I go to my little spreadsheet and look at their averages in qualifying and race finish position that shows they are pretty much equal #and then remember that media narratives are so dumb and ‘insiders’ are largely framing their stories around their own opinion #or anecdotes they’ve been given at various points over the last few months but continue to add as new or updated info to give credibility #to whatever angle they want to give a stoty #and I think about how those super close average but vastly different perceptions of form are veeerrrrrryy interesting #this is just me rambling on the internet for the last 30 minutes of my work day so I don’t have to actually work

so i got the heart out and put it in with formaldehyde and ethyl alcohol and i think i got my measurements wrong bc the heart is now greying and hideous on my shelf but i must hold out til the end. i wonder. what does this mean symbolically ? has unrequited adoration taken a physical role in my life? is this punishment for morbid curiosity and selfish preservation of what is not mine? listened only to tmbg and what a jarring experience to slice through ribs listening to I Hope That I Get Old Before I Die. also made chicken burritos and showed my friend bride of reanimator and he fuckign hated hill's wings.

#i dont know bird anatomy very well so i ended up creating a Shaun of the Dead style hole in this poor creature #just like embalming i did talk to him and thank him for his genrrosity and a safe travel to wherever he goes #the liver was outstanding and massive i loved it so much i dug a grave for it #the bird now lays in a storage bin with my dead squirrel surrounded by meal worms so i can easily get to his bones #.jpg #story

truly ted lasso gave us the best gift a show could ever give a fandom: complete lack of confirmation or denial either way

#as well as the option of 'it was all a dream' interpretation for any bits of that final montage we didn't like #ted lasso #tbh the show didn't stick the landing as much as i expected it to #but it did so in such a way that we can go hogwild in this sandbox while remaining canon compliant for...most things really #certainly the bits i'm talking about here #namely: the roy-keeley-jamie situation #(which is good because their wrap-up was absolutely the weakest of the bunch)#(although i don't think they did anything particularly effective or affective with nate either #although nick mohammed did kill it in that scene with ted)#canon compliance is 0% a requirement for anything of course #but it does add a little extra something when you can slide something into the realm of 'feasible'#or at least when you don't have to evade or elide critical chunks of the actual story in order to tell yours #this finale's an interesting one from a storytelling analysis perspective #ultimately i would put the failures down to such careful writing over the rest of the season (and entire show)#that they were left with too much space to fill effectually and too little space to meaningfully #weave in any of the smaller outstanding threads #in combination with what i can only think to call.....An American Approach To An End #which is probably unfair of me but to me it felt there was something distinctly American about the lack of ingenuity #too focused on the meta-goodbye rather than effectively closing out the story #anyway #still Rotating #but also Rotating My Eyes

kinnporsche is a touchy subject for me but like. no character (in a bl) has been as impactful for me as kinn theerapanyakul. no scene has been as impactful on all fronts as the last scene in episode seven. from the acting to direction music etc etc. god what a time that was

One story that'd be really fun to write out would be from a person that is isekai'd into the world of a dating sim as the heroine. They're one of those evil heroines that want all the male routes to fall in love with them. They even have that innate charm magic or they use methods like laced cookies to make the men fall in love with them. However, much to their dismay, there's this character that always foils them. He's the secret route that the heroine never took interest in. He passed out wards against charm magic. He finds antidotes to love potions. No matter what the heroine tries, he keeps foiling each and every single one of their plans. The heroine hates him but he finds the heroine and their tactics absolutely fascinating. They keep going at it until one day the heroine realizes with horror that they may have fallen in love with him.

#story ideas #i've already done some planning for this #in my idea (as if this isn't already my idea) everyone in the world has a special skill #some skills are more unique than others #despite all of that the heroine who comes from this high class noble family is given 'appraisal' which is the most basic of basic abilities #what the heroine eventually realizes though is that they have a special form of appraisal called 'organic appraisal'#meaning they get more information analyzing organic materials #from this they choose to excel in potion making (which is also a very basic skill that people look down on bc anyone can do it)#by use of their organic appraisal they can use ingredients in very specific ways to create very specific effects #they basically revolutionized potion making revealing it to be a very in depth topic #anyway tho the male lead's ability is 'perfect copy' meaning he can copy anything he's seen perfectly #from observing the heroine brew and hearing her explanation on how they brew he learned how to make an antidote to their potions #the male lead honestly doesn't care the heroine wants everyone to fall in love with them #he finds them to be very intelligent and interesting. he wants to keep them close #the heroine is looked down upon by their family for not being outstanding so they want to show it to everyone that they're worth something #hence why they want to be loved #but that pesky male lead keeps getting in the way of their goals simply for research purposes #but at the same time he's the only one that's ever showed interest in them and their research and hobbies #he's the only one that has pointed out how game changing and amazing they are even if he's a jerk about it #s-so maybe he's not that bad.... >///> (so they think)

my main worry with this season was that it wasn't going to fit with last season, specially being an all new story since neil and terry never got to write the sequel. But boy was I wrong! It not only fits perfectly, but it also gives us more lore, more history and deepens the characters so much!! I loved it, I loved everything about it! I will not shut up about it kdjfhgkdfg
