𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄
𝐖𝐇𝐎: lee bennett & cole montgomery ( @waldenwritess ) 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓: lee bennett was born on the fourth of july and despite living in a new neighborhood brenda bennett still wants the biggest block party for her first born’s special day! 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: the bennett household kitchen, somewhere in georgia, 1975
the only thing that lee liked better about georgia than nebraska is that it was substantially prettier. the rest he wasn’t crazy about. this big bash his mom threw him was nice and all, but none of his friends were really there and meeting all the kids his own age, having to play it cool? well it just made him nervous about his plan to walk onto the football team his senior year. if they were in nebraska, at least one of his buddies like paul or ricky would’ve brought him a joint or a drink for him to sneak behind his mom’s back. or he at least would’ve been able to hide in the barn. but they had traded that for a white picket fence and a beautiful blue two story home-- and it was his fault.
with the clear understanding that none of this guys were going to help the outsider out, lee slipped into the kitchen, only to stop in his tracks at the sight of a boy he hadn’t seen before. he quickly deduced that he must have just arrived, because lee was certain he would’ve noticed his feminine flare pants and silky shirt earlier on in the night if the stranger had been there. the other continued to rummage around in the refrigerator, so lee announced his presence by asking, “can i help you find anything?” he leered a little to the side, trying to get a look at what he was looking for. or maybe just a look of him. back home he was the star of the show, but here he felt so small. it wasn’t something lee was used to. but he still tried anyway as he gestured behind him with his thumb and firmly explained, “refreshments are in the backyard.”

AEW Dynamite 06/28/23 Review
Tumblr media
Jon Moxley vs Tomhiro Ishii
2 great talent. Im interested in seeing if AEW will play ok the Chaos vs BCC storyline we saw start at New Japan Resurgence.
A solid opening to the episode. I wasnt anticipating the angle until after the end of the match, but seeing Eddie make a surprise entrance as an oppurtunity to attack Claudio. I assume in hopes Mox would be too busy with his natch to interfere.
After the commercial break it seems Eddie has calmed down only in that he's not actively approaching Claudio. Instead shoosing to stare at him fron across the ring.
Mox gets the win but its its obvios theres syill tension with him and Eddie Kingston.
Parking Lot Segment
This story between MJF and Adam Cole is going exactly where I think its gonna go.
MJF is going to try and and turn Adam Cole heel, and Cole will try the to the same to MJF conversly turning him Face.
BCC segment with Renee
This was pretty much for Eddie to explain why he went out during Mox's match. I would call it a little selfish for Eddie to expect mox to all of a sudden not want Mox to hang around Claudio.
Orange Cassidy, El Hijo del Vikingo, and Keith Lee vs Jericho Appreciation Society (Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker)
2.Oh havent been on TV for a while I dont think, long enough for me to actually be excited to see them again.
I'm also happy to see El Hijo del Vikingo back on Dynamite, loved Forbidden Door, but I will say there was a distinct lack of Lucha.
Solid match. Tony really just says all babyfaces are friends. I think that's fine.
Hungbucks Dark Order backstage segment
Oooo drama between the Dark Order and Hangman. It makes total sense for Dark Order to be upset with Hangman, especially since the bucks always seem to disappear every time Hangman is in trouble. I'm excited to see what happens with their match.
Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara backstage segment
I didn't have much to say about their match on Sunday. I noticed that they didn't really progress anything regarding Sammy and Jericho, and neither did this segment.
Dark Order vs The Elite
6 AEW originals so I'm very happy to see this match.
I really hope we see a healthy showing of the dark order recruitment specialist.
So I'm not expecting Dark Order to win, and neither am I expecting Hangman and The Bucks to stop tagging together anytime soon, so with that, it is possible Dark Order could be using this opportunity to return. To their roots as villains.
It feels like a possibility with how willing Uno is to attack Hangman while he's on the apron.
Hangman is finally ready to take his opposing team seriously, and he ends up being pinned for a Newark fall the fans were really into.
Just when I typed that John Silver reversed the Buckshot Lariat into his own pin attempt for the second closest near fall in the match.
Adam Page reluctantly pins for the win.
So, instead of giving us more Dark Order, the BCC decides to use this moment to attack the Elite. We do get something though as it seems Dark Order is choosing not to do anything for Hangman. Even Kongston is out here to fight off the BCC.
Looks like Forbidden Door wasn't the last we seen of Don either since him and his new son Konosuke Takeshita are out here to be apart of Jon's official challenge for BLOOD AND GUTS.
I'm excited for Blood and Guts forsure. I'm not sure if it's just going to be Eddie instead of Kenny on the side of the Elite, but if so there's definitely room to add another player for each team. Especially since it seems Don's whole character is to be an Antagonist for Kenny's story.
There's a lot of ways this story could go, and I'm glad there are a lot of different threads that connect to the drama each character has had so far in AEW.
Another parking lot segment with MJF and Adam Cole.
I like MJF's generic white boy line referring to Roderick Strong.
Also confirmed MJF doesn't watch Dynamite
Jungle Boy Jack Perry Promo
Now that he's a Heel Jack Perry wears sunglasses. I guess now that we have MJF to do the Tag Team storyline, and Christian is on Collision, we need someone to just go out there and talk shit for a whole segment.
Never mind, we're getting a youpeople promo.
After talking about Hook for a minute, Hook makes his entrance, and Perry hightales it out of the ring.
We cut to back stage where Jack Perry barely escapes in his get awar car
Sammy Guevara Sign Promo
He's cutting a promo on sting. I like how they are able to use this as a way to both; let Sammy cut a promo and get the Advertisements out the way.
Ruby Soho vs Alexia Nicole (Who didn't get a lower third)
This was supposed to be a match against Britt Baker, so I'm not expecting this to be a very competitive match. We'll probably see Ruby use this as more of an angle to call out Britt.
Ruby ends this match with Britts finisher, the Lockjaw. Pretty regular stuff. All capped off with the post match Spray paint.
Oh cool post match promo too.
Johnny TV Backstage Promo
I like John Hennigan and all his silly names. He fits more with the whole QTV gimmick more than Hobbs did. Rampage is also getting its own identity now, but it's felt like it's getting one for the past few months now, and I'm not sure if it is ever going to reach that point.
Main Event: Tornado Tag Team Match: Sting and Darby Allin vs Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara
I really hate that shitty flash movie that plays in the background of Sammy's entrance.
If i remember correctly, this is the 3rd time we saw the Painmaker character on Dynamite.
I like the tornado tag rules as a tv stipulation. Makes the match feel faster paced and chaotic.
Oh, geez. Sting jumped off the ladder onto Sammy, who was on 2 tables. I dont know if that was a great landing. It looks like sting may have landed his pelvis on the edge of one table and bumped his face on the second.
Sting somehow gets up and ends up in the walls of Jericho. Luckily, he was able to use the Painmakers own bat against him.
There's a lot of interesting depth to this story between Sting and Jericho, as we see Ating using all the moves he used back in the 90s and Jericho using the collection of moves he has gained in the years since. I feel there's a lot of possibility with this fued.
Sting wins with the Scorpion Death Lock
Closing thoughts
It feels like not much was developed in this episode aside from the MJF and Adam Cole story as well as Hangman and The Dark Order.
I'm excited to see Rampage and to see if they build anything else towards blood and guts this week.
Once again thanks for reading my review. Let me know your thoughts on this episode, are you expecting to be in Blood and Guts?

Discord Thread History: Band Fantasy 1.0
Eddie Munson x Cole Montgomery @waldenwritess
Thread #1: Cole's Sexy Y/N Band Fanfic
tw: drugs
Eddie Munson
Their first song was a wash. It’s not like anyone but himself could tell, but Craig’s drumming was a fucking mess. Probably because of the pre-show coke. Eddie refrained from participating this time around. In fact, he did a pretty good job of showing up at this Lower East Side hole-in-the-wall sober, relying on a lukewarm beer kept by his feet to power through their setlist. The establishment itself wasn’t glamorous. Hell, he was surprised they even had a stage. There weren’t any big lights, backstage, fancy equipment – it was just them, amplifiers, and the sweat dripping down their denim. It was a comfortable environment for Eddie, reminiscent of dive bars that became his makeshift homes along the coast early on his career. The crowd itself was tight in front of the stage but he never paid much attention to the audience while performing. With his feet planted firmly on the tempered hardwood, he kept his eyes on the strings, thighs bucking into the backing of his fender. His eyes only bobbed up occasionally to hit cues with Stacy.
Eddie ended their set with his head tilted back, slinking a single smile at the crowd as a final salutation for the night. Cheering could still be heard as Brody mouthed off his signature thank you spiel, as much as a crowd in a shady bar would holler. He proceeded to prance off the stage with his guitar in one hand and lukewarm beer in the other, polishing it off on his way to the artist’s corner. Twisted Pickle wasn’t playing any gigs tomorrow – which usually meant that they’d all go hard at the after party. It was a familiar routine if they stuck around long enough for the next band to finish. He usually waited around for all the artists to wrap up their performances before taking off. It’s not like the night wasn’t young.
He bee-lined for the bar after packing up his gear. His elbow settled on the counter, yelling above shitty overhead intermission music – who plays U2 after a set like theirs? “I’ll take a rum and coke!” The tender shook their head at his choice. “What? – you don’t have rum? – Coke?” He leaned deeper over the bar to clarify, a playful grin curling at his expression, “Is this a bar?” The dude didn’t find it very funny. New York, what a friendly fucking city. “I’ll have two shots then – whatever you got, thanks.” He reached for the bifold in his back pocket and set down a few bills, fingering the ring on his index finger as the tender poured shots.
Tumblr media
Cole Montgomery
Truthfully, Cole had no idea what show he was being dragged to, only that his friend Farrah was bringing a friend and the show was in the Lower East Side, so they wanted to use his place as the meeting spot. He didn't mind much. If not for a few select friends, Cole would never see the outside of his apartment. He was reclusive by nature, and since he'd slowed down on drinking and started on his manuscript, Cole had fallen into a routine of early nights with his cat. There were a few lost months, too, months that turned into half a year of drinking to forget. He’d never been very good at finding a middle ground, so the only way Cole could conceptualize not drinking to forget was locking himself away, the Emily Dickinson-style seclusion. Lately, though, he’d been trying to find a balance… or rather, his friends were forcing him to find a balance. Cole was grateful for a growing community, a group of people who truly cared for him, but it was hard to deny the guilt he still harbored. It felt wrong to let loose and have fun when he'd hurt so many people-- Lee, Max, Jonathan, Will, his mother. The list of people he'd disappointed wasn't short, and maybe he should suffer for that. It was only right, right?
Buzz. The self-loathing would have to wait for tomorrow. Cole spent a few seconds circling his apartment looking for Neetz, and before he could find her the buzzing had begun again, buzzes in rapid succession. “I hear you, Jesus Christ!” he yelled as if Farrah could hear him from the third floor. He was about to give up when he spotted a familiar tuft of black fur wedged between the radiator and the bookshelf. Cole chuckled, gave her a goodbye pat, and shoved his keys and wallet into his pocket. A quick glance at his watch told him they were running late, so he took the steps two at a time and spilled onto the street, breathless. “Fuck you, I heard you the first six times you buzzed,” he greeted his friend with a kiss on the cheek. “Hi, I’m Cole,” he smiled at the new friend. The two blocks to the bar were filled with casual conversation, the weather, other such forgettable things— but Cole’s mind was elsewhere.
As they shrugged into the crowded pub, Cole welcomed the loud music and the feeling of the snare drumming in his chest was weirdly soothing. After his eyes adjusted to the dark, Cole glanced on stage. He recognized the hair first, long, brunette curls shaking with every move he made. Eddie fucking Munson. For a moment, Cole thought he was surely dreaming— or hallucinating— but he hadn’t taken anything in weeks. Cole’s eyes were glued to him throughout the whole set. At first to make sure he was real, and then… because he couldn’t look away. There was something addictive about him, and Cole’s stupid high school crush on Eddie “the freak” Munson came flooding back. The music was good— or so he thought, he wasn’t fully paying attention, but Farrah and her friend seemed to enjoy it. Cole spent the whole set figuring out how to get backstage, who he needed to bat his eyelashes at, and he’d solidified a plan. Only then did he notice that Eddie hadn’t gone backstage; in fact, he’d made a beeline to the bar. So Cole did the same, game plan effectively thrown out of the window.
He slid into a seat a few spaces down from the rockstar and eavesdropped for a moment. Cole laughed at the joke, for what it was worth, and caught the bartender’s eye long enough to order an Old Fashioned. Just one drink, just for the liquid courage to actually approach Eddie, who may or may not even know who he was; God knows they hadn’t talked much back in high school. But, who knows, they both had… certain reputations. Maybe the noticing wasn’t one-sided. “Thanks,” he breathed when the bartender returned with his glass. Cole took a large gulp and glanced up at his target. Sliding the glass over as he moved into the seat closes to Eddie, Cole offered a wry grin. “Long way from Hawkins, aren’t you?” he mused, projecting nonchalance. “I’m Cole Montgomery. Hawkins High class of ’85.” It was weird, being this close to a blast from the past. They hadn’t exactly run in the same circles— as if Cole had a social circle at all— but still, it had him lost in thought, remembering high school. His chest felt heavy, all of the sudden, at the thought of how things used to be. Who he used to be. Cole took another long swig of his drink and turned squarely to Eddie. “Good set, but I gotta ask. What the fuck’s the deal with the name?”

I saw a comment on another thread last night pointing out that census records show that King George’s valet was married and had a daughter. The general assumption was that, in Downton verse, this one one of the valets that was Not!Richard. It was Mr. Miller or possibly someone else entirely. Not sure how many he actually had.
But stop and consider - what if it was Richard? What if Thomas got a boyfriend that came with his very own small human?
Richard: Thomas, I would like you to meet my wife, who, incidentally, ala Cole Porter and Linda Lee Thomas, knows all about me and has no issues.
Wife: Hello, Second Husband.
Thomas: Er....hello.....shared wife? I guess?
Richard: And this is my utterly adorable little daughter.
Thomas: ... ... ... ... COME TO DADDY, BABY GIRL!
Wife: Oh dear. He’s going to spoil her rotten, isn’t he?
Richard: Yup. We need to just accept it.

july book round up
Tumblr media
19 books last month! this is super late because i couldn’t bring up the energy to write this post, which made me realise that i’m the master of my own destiny and i can just write super short descriptions so that’s what i’m going to do. i did read several ARCs this month, which i’m happy about.
dread nation - justina ireland ⭐️⭐️⭐️ young adult historical with zombies. didn’t love it. annoyingly colourist.
the stillwater girls - minka kent ⭐️⭐️⭐️ run of the mill thriller.
to have loved and lost - eliza andrews ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. deals with grief. pretty good.
anika takes the long was home up soul mountain - eliza andrews ⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. okay, but irritating style, some irritating content.
the brutal truth - lee winter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. slow burn, sorta enemies to lovers, office romance, sooooo good.
takeover - anna zabo ⭐️⭐️⭐️ m/m contemporary romance. office romance. pretty okay.
the last true poets of the sea - julia drake ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f young adult contemporary. sorta retelling of twelfth night. really beautiful themes and writing.
duck! - kim dare ⭐️⭐️⭐️ m/m fantasy romance with bird shifters. bit dull honestly.
that could be enough - alyssa cole ⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f historical romance. a little too insta-lovey for me.
the boy who saw in colours - lauren robinson ⭐️ historical wwii fiction about a kid who was kidnapped and taken to a nazi school. did not like it at all.
neither present time - caren j. werlinger ⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. great writing and buildup, but the ending moved too fast.
paradox lost - libby drew ⭐️⭐️⭐️ m/m scifi time travel romance. shaky world building, super fast romance, but still pretty good.
out on the ice - kelly farmer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary sports romance. the final conflict annoyed me but this was so realistically written and was so cute. had a cute dog.
and playing the role of herself - k.e. lane ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. ugliest cover in the world but definitely my favourite romance of the year so far. these two are MFEO.
the full legacy - jane retzig ⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f mystery romance. interesting, but i lost the thread of the plot so hard.
fake out - eden finley ⭐️⭐️ m/m contemporary romance. fake dating, which i love, but these two dudes were so annoying/boring lol.
northern lights - lise gold ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ f/f contemporary romance. really simple and sweet.
the harp and the sea - lou sylvre, anne barwell ⭐️⭐️⭐️ m/m historical romance. very shaky on character development and plot, insta-love to the max, but i like the writing and the setting.
the good samaritan - john marrs ⭐️⭐️ thriller about a woman working at a suicide hotline. extremely upsetting to me.
this month and next month i’m treating myself to scribd, so i’ll just be binging whatever’s available there. i’ve already read a good few. i’ve become obsessed with finding a thriller that i LIKE, rather than ones that are just okay. the one i’m reading now, final girls... well. i don’t think it’ll fit the bill lol

My Fangirl Life
I think being a fangirl was one of my talent hahaha because I have been able to withstand anything. I have been a self proclaimed ACTIVE fangirl since 2009 it has been over a decade so I though maybe I can list all the artist that I have supported throughout the years (I am a fan of a lot but I will only list those artist that I have an active participation to): 1. AJ Perez (PH : 2009) - as far as I can remember he is the one whom I really thought of liking, because of his handsome face and acting who will not like him. So imagine my reaction when I heard he passed away, I am clearly shocked as when I woke up my cousins told me about it with the phrase 'di ba siya yung gusto mo'. After that I remember following all the news and even her gf then on any updates. I wanted to visit his funeral that time but I can't coz my parents won't allow me. Fun fact : I never stopped following AJ's twitter until now. 2. Melai and Jason Francisco (PH : 2009) - They are the reason I was hooked with Pinoy Big Brother before. Their uncanny lovestory made my heart giddy back then. I remember creating a PEX (Pinoy Exchange) account just to chat with my fellow fans, even though I am just in high school. 3. Ivan Dorschner and Fritzie Bercede (PH : 2010) - Just like MelAson, this hype was caused by PBB as I am already in PEX looking for this threads are easy already. I made a lot of things for them and I even sew their couple name (VanZie) 4. Mario Maurer and Baifern Pimchanok (TH : 2010) - As I can say the first foreign act I put as my profile picture. I am already unto KDrama that time but they just passed by. This love team made me feel happiness. They reason why I knew them because my 4th year High School adviser made us watch Crazy Little Thing Called love and just like that I was hooked. Even time have passed I still love and follow them on their sns. And that one time they visited Manila I waited for hours just so I can see them upclose (I am in the barricade). Especially now they will be back together made me happier and excited. 5. Jhake Vargas and Bea Binene (PH : 2011) - One of the most unforgettable artist for me. As I always say , I may not be able to stay but they always have a special part in my heart. Because of them FIRST TIME in my life I am not treated just a fan but also a friend. The feeling for the first time the artist knows ypu in person and never forget you. I am thankful for them as this was the time I was full on fangirl. I learn to go out because of tapings and mallshows. I learn how to organize events as I was an active part of the fanbase. I also knew the local stations here how they operate a show and treat artist. These two brought happiness toy freshman years and I am grateful for them, I am always here watching them grow and I was happy and proud. 6. Demi Lovato (US : 2011) - This was the time I was so into the Disney shows and this girl caught my attention because of her vocal prowess and her chemistry with Sterling Knight made me swoon. Because of her I experienced my first ever concert. My active days with her was short but I never stop looking forward to her works and continue to listen to her songs. 7. Ella Cruz (PH : 2012) - Liking her came as a surprise, to be honest at first I was just curious to see her because of Aryana (drama) that I enjoyed. So I tag along with my friends and met her after that when she welcomed us with open arms. We decided we should support her as she is an amazing actress and a humble person. I am proud to say that I saw her when she was still a teenager and saw her grow into this wonderful woman she is today. Until now I am still part of Ellamazing and do not regret every second of it. Because her and her family didn't just treat us as fans but also as a friend and family. She even is very supportive of my K(everything) addiction. What more can I ask for an artist, right? 8. Girls Generation (KR : 2012) - After the constant push of my friend to watch their performances and even reality show, I finally gave in to the trap. I think I made a decision after I watched Hush Hush by Taeyeon. I said this group has talent and they are very new to me. My active days for them might be a brief moment but they are still a very dear to my heart and still follow their releases. I even made effort to see Sooyoung (my bias) when I visited Korea last year. They are still I can proudly say, my best girl group. 9. Henry (KR : 2013) - This is the first guy I called ny husband, because I was into support ships or girls this is a step up. Because of the bubble of SM Family, I got to know Super Junior but instead of liking the principal members this guy caught my attention. Because he can speak so many language, can play different instruments, can sing and dance at the same time, a composer, a cook, an actor, a comedian and a sweetheart. I have never seen a guy like that before that is why I was head over heels for him. Right now, I still follow his activities and even watched his vlogs. I may just be a quiet supporter but I still cherish this man. I can and will never forget. 10. BTS (KR : 2014) - It is already very visible that I really like BTS. I joined a lot of fanclub activities even hosted and volunteer on events. More over out of all of the artist I liked they are the longest I have been very active to, for foreign artist. But this is the group I am the most dedicated to. And to be honest, I already gave myself the ultimatum that they will be the last artist I will support like this, and will not add anymore because when the time comes I already want to focus on myself. This group for me is one for the books. These other artists below are they artist I liked in between of the 10 at the top : - Seichi and Pamu (PH) - Jonas Brothers (US) - Debby Ryan and Cole Sprouse (US) - 2NE1 (KR) - 2PM (KR) - CNBLUE (KR) - BAP (KR) - B1A4 (KR) - BTOB (KR) - EXO (KR) - SISTAR (KR) - TroubleMaker (KR) - Kim Bum and Kim Seo Eun (KR) - Jeong Eun Ji and Seo In Guk (KR) - Park Shin Hye and Yoon Shi Yoon (KR) - Kim Yoo Jung and Park Bogum (KR) - Jung Krystal and Kang Minhyuk (KR) - Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk (KR) - Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik (KR) - Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won (KR) Hope you can try and check out the artist I put up, and give them a chance. Share me your stories if you also supported one of them.

Wildstorm Halloween Trilogy of Terror! (1997)
This review is going to be about the Wildstorm Halloween Trilogy of Terror published in 1997 by Image Comics, and just read moments ago by me, in March 2020.
I picked this one up after finding a Sleeper Season One TPB (by Brubaker and Phillips) in my collection and reminiscing about how good Wildstorm was at one point. So I went online, looked up some Wildstorm comics, opened a tab with this one and thought to myself “I’ve been known to enjoy Gen 13 from time to time and this cover looks cool, let’s roll the dice!”
Tumblr media
Spoiler Alert! Nothing as cool as the scene depicted on the cover happens in the book, and the Lovecraftian monster lurking behind our heroes never appears.
In case you never knew or forgot, Wildstorm was the branch of Image Comics that Jim Lee was in charge of and responsible for all the titles he created and oversaw like WildC.A.Ts (later just Wildcats), Gen 13, Stormwatch (later the Authority) and Deathblow. Also Wetworks apparently, which was created by Whilce Portacio, another of the original Image Comics founders.
This special has three different stories by three different creative teams. Each story shares a common thread, the villain of each story is a man called Crandall or Camatoz, a “bat god zombie abomination”, that Crandall resurrects in the first story.
Tumblr media
The  the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz, in case you were wondering
The first story of the trilogy contained in this issue stars Team 7, an elite military strikeforce whose members go on to be major players in the Wildstorm universe including Michael Cray (Deathblow), Cole Cash (Grifter), John Lynch (Gen 13), Alex Fairchild (father of Gen 13’s Caitlin Fairchild), Jackson Dane (Wetworks) etc.  This story takes place in the past and sees Team 7 covertly travelling into Mexico to put down a rebel uprising calling itself the Nueva Mayapan.  Crandall is working with this group but only to further his own goal, resurrecting the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz. Which he does, but is swiftly defeated by Team 7.
This story was written by Christopher Golden with art by Ed Benes. The story felt a bit disjointed due to the narration, dialogue and art not quite syncing up.
For example Team 7 defeats the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz using explosives to cause a cave in burying the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz, but we never see the explosives planted! The dialogue is on par with a cheesy action movie and the narration is too weighty and self serious causing issues with the tone of the story.
Tumblr media
Look at how well drawn that bandoleer of bullets is! Go Benes go!
Like a lot of Image Comics from this era there's no shortage of cool pictures, but they often come at the cost of the story and the more meat and potatoes panels telling important beats of the story.
The middle story in the trilogy stars Gen 13 and takes place in the present, of 1997.
For what it’s worth this is the only story that takes place on Halloween, 1997.
The Gen 13 kids dress up and take part in Halloween festivities while the other stories simply contain horror elements, like vampires and the undead. So those bring the “Terror” element from the title, while this one brings the “Halloween”.
Not to worry, this one also has the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz, everyone’s favorite new character from this issue, for a few panels.
Plus Grunge transmutes himself into blood, so there’s that.
Tumblr media
                                               Here’s that
This story opens on John Lynch and Alex Fairchild, both formerly of Team 7 and making appearances in the previous story, scaring some trick or treaters visiting the Gen 13 house. It also provides my favorite panel from this entry:
Tumblr media
                                             Kudos Mr. Odagawa!
The Gen 13 kids have received an invite to a nightclub for a Halloween party. Bobby (Burnout) is nice enough to let us know the regulars of this club file their teeth into fangs.  I’m sure this outing is going to go fine.
Turns out I was wrong, Caitlin (Fairchild) and Bobby are kidnapped by the club owners and are going to be used as a sacrifice to summon the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz! Crandall is nowhere to be found in this installment. Using their powers (and teamwork) the other members of Gen 13 are able to rescue Fairchild and Burnout. After the kids return home Lynch and Fairchild, Sr, find are shocked to find a flyer for the evening’s festivities that basically spells out the whole event was to try to resurrect “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz.
This story flows nicely from the first, letting us know the horror of the “bat god zombie abomination”, Camatoz, is still a problem for the Wildstorm U, but in hindsight other than having Gen 13 in the issue to boost sales, this story adds nothing to the trilogy of terror. Which as you know, years later got me to pick up this issue. Good job Wildstorm marketing team!
Ryan Odagawa handles the art for this chapter and draws it in a J. Scott Campbell light manner. Writer Peter Gutierrez does a good job of aping the style and tone of the regular Gen 13 series, lots of slang that someone probably used on MTV once and a loose Scooby Doo-ish plot that shows off the Gen 13 kids doing trendy things and being moody.
Not bad, but not an essential entry in this trilogy of terror.
The final entry stars Wetworks and is written by Tom Sniegoski and Chris Warner and it’s the best one of the three. It feels like a direct sequel to the first story, with similar elements, making the second entry feel disposable.
This story also takes place in the present of 1997, abandoning the advancement of time element that happened between the last two stories. So no cool Wildstorm of the future story here, unfortunately.
We find the Wetworks team travelling to the arctic to stop Crandall, the dude working with the Nueva Mayapan in the first story, now working with the Vampire Nation (something I imagine readers would be more familiar with if they were reading the Wetworks title at the time) to prevent him from destroying a virus that can kill the undead.
There’s a quick flashback in the opening panels of this story of an ancient viking warrior perishing in battle. This is important because when Dane, from Team 7  again in the first story, fights Crandall he gets knocked into a cave or something and finds this warrior’s axe. The spirit of the warrior possesses Dane and causes his golden symbiote to grow a beard and don a viking helmet.
Tumblr media
Does it get any better than this? Don’t let me know if does!
Wetworks takes care of the Vampire Nation and Dane defeats Crandall. No idea what happens to the virus they came to protect or the bat god zombie abomination, Camatoz that was part of the connective tissue for the first two stories because it’s not even mentioned here.
Chris Warner’s artwork was a pleasure to read and his storytelling was the best out of the three artists working on this issue. Yes, some of the dialogue was cheesy action movie, but the fact that the art was so on point helped to elevate this entry above the rest. And to the credit of Tom Sniegoski, he keeps the cool coming giving Warner no shortage of cool stuff to draw and moves the plot along briskly.
So we’ve reached the end. What’s the verdict? “You sure wrote a lot about a twenty plus year old comic.”  Well, besides that. Should you seek out your own copy of this book? No, probably not. If you’ve got some money to spare and want to read something that will leave no impact on you, you could do worse. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, 1 being the worst, this is 4.5.
Until next time!

// It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done anything on this account (about 2+ weeks to be exact) and I really do want to change that. Sadly, what I think I need to do is edit my muse page a little bit since some muses are really dragging  me down. I’m NOT going to be dropping ANY of my muses. I want to make that clear. No one is being dropped. But I am going to be placing some of them on a selective hiatus (which means they won’t be active outside of maybe a few hand selected ships). Here’s the muses i’m looking at for a hiatus:
Adam Cole (I’m enjoying others on NXT more at the moment)
AJ Lee (It’s that time of year where my muse for her starts to vanish)
Chris Jericho (I don’t watch AEW whatsoever... so yeah)
Johnny Gargano (He’s injured without a return time)
Ronda Rousey (She’s inactive and meh. Just not feeling her)
I’m still considering Daniel Bryan and maybe someone else for a hiatus but that’s going to be the list for now. I really want to kind of start fresh with threads as well, by the way. I might do it. I might not. I have some time to think things over.

“Something’s happening, isn’t it, Margaret?” Twin Peaks Recap, Season 2, Episodes 6 & 7.
Given the nature of these episodes, and what will need to be discussed from here on out, I’m putting a spoiler warning on this. (I mean, I intended these to be for people like myself who’ve watched the show before anyway, but just on the off-chance you’ve been reading along and this is new to you... if I were you, I’d stop now. You’ve been warned.)
Episode Six, “Demons”:
-”I thought you were different!” Harold’s whole speech here, with its references to ‘contamination’, ‘betrayal’, etc.-- he isn’t really talking to Donna or Maddy.
-Audrey on being rescued, “I prayed you would come.” Not for nothing, the song the little girl plays on her radio in Episode 8 of The Return is “My Prayer” by The Platters... Also love Coop’s delivery of “Goodnight, Mr. Horne.”
-I have in my notes: “GORDON!!!” Gordon Cole, of course.
-The scene between Maddy and James-- her clothes in this scene are very ‘grown up’: the wool coat, the long scarf. (More on this later...)
-Josie and Ben Horne: I haven’t said much on this storyline to date because it feels so separate from everything else, but I do like them in this scene.
-aside, inspired by the pizza at Leo’s ‘homecoming’-- wonder what kind of weird s%^& you’d see as a pizza delivery driver in Twin Peaks...
-Pete. Martell. Can we just have a word for how gol-danged lovable Pete Martell is?
-and finally, the One-Armed Man (I forgot how long this thread drags out). Again, really like Al Strobel’s performance in this scene; really brings back the darkness and menace of the situation.
Episode Seven, “Lonely Souls”:
-Maddy talking about her job and her apartment-- as I think I’ve mentioned, I grew up in Missoula. There’s a brick apartment building right next to the high school I attended, in one of the oldest parts of downtown. I imagine her living there-- going for sandwiches at Worden’s Market sometimes, shopping in the old Missoula Mercantile building (in the early 90s, it was The Bon Marche. It smelled like perfume and face powder, and I thought it was the most sophisticated place in town)...
-”Good thing Andy didn’t see this one.” Bless you, Hawk.
-Ben & Audrey-- worth noting that he is honest with her, and does seem genuinely horrified that she was ‘Prudence’.
-Sarah Palmer, crawling down the stairs. It’s so much worse when you know what’s coming.
-”There are owls in the Roadhouse.” Somehow I’d forgotten that Margaret goes with Harry and Coop. (Also notice ‘the waiter’ sitting next to Mike and Bobby)
-James and Donna. They’re so good when they’re together.
-And we see it, finally: BOB and Leland and poor sweet Maddy. This scene is just... It’s awful. Really nasty and terrifying and awful. Obviously yes, they lucked out with Sheryl Lee’s superb, ethereal scream, but even without that, it’s a remarkable horror sequence. The way he grabs her and holds her, the way BOB kisses her and Leland whimpers, “Laura, my baby...” This is something I’ve thought about a lot: Laura was growing up. She wasn’t a little girl anymore-- in some ways, was desperate not to be (the drugs, the cigarettes, working at One-Eyed Jack’s). In the same way, as I’ve touched on previously, Maddy was trying to leave, trying to have her own life. Aside from all of the supernatural stuff, this is a really sharp look at the way abuse works.
-”It is happening again.”/ “I’m so sorry.” Another sharp detail: The Giant and his brethren being unable to intervene directly. (Again, something to return to in future installments.)
That’s it for now; stay tuned. We’ve got a long stretch ahead, I may batch these up differently just to keep myself sane. (I am watching *all* of Season 2 again, just to satisfy my completist urges, so again, you’ve been warned.)

End of Year Wrap-Up 24/12/2018
Happy Merry to all you readers!
I’ve had a great year but all us music fans have had an even better one! Streaming services mean that now more than ever we can experience the musical output from all corners of the globe (though overwhelmingly the English-speaking parts of it) to understand different points of view, learn of the goings on in other parts of the world and most importantly indulge ourselves in a bit of a boogie. All the moods, genres and feels you could think of are out there, so over the holiday period perhaps try and listen to something new. Who knows it might break the tension with that younger/older relative round the xmas table when you find they also happen to like k-pop/jazz-funk/grindcore or at the very least you can bicker about the tragedy of the current album charts (Greatest Showman: 21 weeks!). To aid you in your quest for knowledge/excitement/small-talk I have spent almost 30 minutes curating a best-of for both albums and singles in the year of 2018.
(NB even with my album-a-day policy, there’s no way I can get through everything I want to within the 365, so if your fave appears ignored, let it be known that I probably haven’t heard it yet. The full list of everything I’ve listened to this year is at the bottom)
