It's a rare thought that cracks the rhythm of his days. Maybe he was wasting his time and his life and should simply let go of those days he could never take back--after all He made his views clear on the matter in hidden truths and blatant lies. But the thought is trash and discarded as such, and the rhythm is restored; someone here still knows how to hold on and do better.

3SF: Narnia, Edmund/Caspian, dark academia AU, vanish in the air, you'll never find me

Candlelight flickers off the old cracked spines in the archive as Caspian rounds the corner, only to stop dead at the sight of another man--a stranger, with pale skin and dark hair, a thin frame, and eyes as sharp as a crow’s. The man has a book held open in the palm of one hand and, as if unsurprised by Caspian’s interruption, he immediately says, “Did you know that these fairy tales are considerably more accurate than any of those false history tomes your people wrote to cover up the existence of the true Narnian peoples?” Then, with a quirk of his eyebrows, he reshelves the book and walks away without a backward glance. 

(Caspian follows the man, of course, but he has disappeared without a trace; in later days, he asks about the castle but no one, it seems, has ever seen the man with crow’s eyes.)

Fandom Year in Review (2023)

It's the very last day of 2023, which means it's time for my annual look back and some number-crunching with my AO3 stats and writing over the year!

(Before I get to setting next year's goals and back to writing before midnight, of course! ;))

I posted 142 new stories to AO3 this year!

Fewer than last year but still quite a respectable number (especially given I dropped off posting every single day after October this year - I kept it up for 1,675 days straight, or 55 complete months!).

Those stories were in 33 fandoms, 14 of them new, and featured 43 ships (not counting gen relationships), 18 of them new!

I posted a total of 319,688 words to AO3 this year!

3 Sentence Ficathon 2023

Here is a belated roundup post for this year’s 3 Sentence Ficathon bc all of my fics are finally transferred to AO3!

I challenged myself this year to write at least one fill a day until the ficathon was over, and I was able to make that challenge! For the purposes of my personal challenge, I considered “each day” to end whenever I went to sleep, not the actual calendar day, so the dates on the Dreamwidth posts don’t necessarily reflect the day I counted them as.

Here’s a few stats:

I wrote 43 works for a total of 5,049 words

These works featured 14 fandoms, half of which I hadn’t written for in the past.

The most fills I wrote in one day was four, which happened twice. Most days I only wrote one.

The main thing I did differently than last year was to crosspost the fills to AO3 as individual fics instead of posting them as oneshot collections. I made that decision for a couple of reasons, mostly because 1) last year part of the reason the fills didn’t get posted in a timely fashion is because I wasn’t sure whether the fandom deserved its own collection until the ficathon was over and 2) I read some posts on tumblr about how fic collections can lead to readers filtering out tags for one chapter and therefore missing a chapter they would have been interested in. I think it worked pretty well for me, although it meant that I had to come up with titles for each fic, plus this year’s ficathon now accounts for almost half of my fics on AO3!

Friends and Family (The Angst Edition)

Kagami looks at his teacher through a wash of red, through the Sharingan that his captors too such pains to awaken, and knows that he'll never forget this sight, that it will be burned into his memory forever, and he would have it no other way.

People say that Tobirama-sensei is cold, unfeeling, that he hates those not of his own clan and the Uchiha especially, but Kagami does not believe it.

When those hands, still bloody from slitting the throat of the man who thought to claim his eyes, lift him up, cradling him like that child he no longer is, Kagami tucks himself into blue armour.

Who better than he to tell the demons from the just?
