I've been a longtime Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju fanatic. The historical theme is so well-done, it's engaging, the messy queer vibes are immaculate. I also love Banana Fish for its grungy city ambience, heart-wrenching romance and suspense.
I just finished watching Monster, which to me felt like a combination of the two (plus several other elements of course). It's seinen but honestly you could have fooled me—Women characters play prominent roles and are written to feel so real. There are subtle feminist undertones throughout, and sexual assault is very, very rarely used as a plot point. There's no service, and bodies are drawn so beautifully. There is a sense of precision towards each character’s race, backstory, and personality that also reflects in their design, no matter how unimportant they are. (Kenzo Tenma in particular was so swoon-worthy in the plain, fresh, Ghibli-esque way.)
Highly, highly recommended. Go watch it on Netflix, right now.

(The animation is already spectacular, but there are also upscaled versions of the episodes available online somewhere if you'd like better quality.)

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, C.C.'s Empress —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
C.C.'s Reign
Due to C.C.'s close involvement in the rebellion as Lelouch's partner and the Black Knights' second in command, she's considered the acting Empress Consort of the Britannian Empire. This title was never made public. C.C. is also never seen dressed in royal attire, nor is she married to Lelouch, but the Emperor showers her in luxury. He even has a little chair set beside his throne for C.C. in the throne room.

Yesterday I finished watching Death Note. I started it the weekend before (I watched the first 14 episodes then) and yesterday I picked it back up to finish it.
I love detective stuff so Death Note was completely up my alley. Glad I got around to watching it. Brilliant show.
PS I somehow accidentally skipped an episode so I wound up being a little confused a few times leading up to the finale. Only to realize about halfway through the finale so after figuring out what I missed I went back and watched it. Then, I watched the finale in full. Luckily it didn’t ruin the experience for me but it’s still a kinda funny story.

At episode 30 of anime Monster
And FUCK.
This is what they mean when they talk about thriller, perfect story telling, the mystery, the way the mind works.
At first I thought this was slow paced, but that didn't make it boring, it was like, as it keeps on going ahead, it makes me feel like, some stories are supposed to be slow paced. Or you won't understand them as they're supposed to be.
But seriously. I'm so curious and surprised and the way this show makes me feel the thrill and surprises and worry. It is so brilliantly executed.
This particular line really caught my attention : To kill someone is very simple, you only have to forget the taste of sugar. The building up for that line, the simple things that made him stop. And that line. I couldn't think of saying anything because it was beautifully depicted.
Looking back, I still might not have understood the most simple things about that particular scene.
But seriously, what an anime. I've only reached the half point. And I'm hoping it continues in the direction it's going on.
One thing that really pisses me off is this guy Roberto. And I get angry because people don't tell or make copies of the stuff they're supposed to as a safe keep in case they die. But it's also crucial for me to understand that I'm a viewer and If I was in that situation not knowing that I am in that situation, I might not have shared all of this too.
But yeah. What a brilliantly executed anime.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Emperor Lelouch —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Emperor Lelouch vi Britannia's Reign
At eighteen, Lelouch became the 99th Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire. He abolishes all the oppressive laws and class systems of Britannia. Lelouch frees every colony, thereby abolishing the concept of "Numbers," and puts down all resistance to his goals. However, the benevolent acts are a smokescreen for his intention to take over the world, the Zero Requiem. Eventually, with no one left to oppose him, Lelouch becomes ruler of the world. Later, he arranges the public execution of the Black Knight leaders and the U.F.N. representatives. Suzaku, disguised as Zero, interrupts and kills Lelouch, the culmination of the Zero Requiem as they had planned. By directing all the hatred of the world onto him, Lelouch's death will serve to facilitate peace, while simultaneously redeeming his and Suzaku's sins by having them impose the greatest punishments on themselves: death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death. When Lelouch falls near Nunnally, she takes his hand and realizes he had sacrificed himself on purpose for her dream and world peace. Lelouch dies smiling in the arms of a crying Nunnally, saying he has destroyed the world and created it anew. Suzaku is left playing the role of Zero. In reality, Lelouch leaves the country, having faked his death to live out his immortal life with C.C. as the two are seen on a hay cart in the Japanese version. He gains the power of "Code" from his father, Charles, who got it from V.V. Lelouch was able to kill Charles since his Geass was fully evolved. But before doing that, he used his powers to transfer Charles's Code to him. Shortly before dying, Charles grabbed Lelouch's neck with his hand that bore the Code Geass brand. As such, the brand transfered to his neck, thus why he started wearing typical clothes beyond his school uniform, which conceal his neck.

Lycoris Recoil Season 1
Lycoris Recoil is an anime that I picked up and watched the first three episodes a couple months back but never actually finished. Not because I didn’t enjoy it but because life got busy. So I decided since I had time to spare, I’d revisit it. Lycoris Recoil follows a group of elite undercover teen girl assassins, their job is to keep the peace by removing threats before they’re able to act without the public ever finding out. This gives rise to a terrorist organization wanting to take them down and expose “the truth”. This anime is difficult to talk about because I feel slightly betrayed by the ending. And it’s annoying because I did enjoy it, up until the last 4 episodes then all hold it had on me, just faded and I felt like I was just waiting for the anime to end. It’s a shame but I can’t give it more than a 3.5/5.

I Have to Talk About Anime Film "Perfect Blue" (1997)
Okay, there are pretty much things I have to say about the anime Perfect Blue (1997), I'll explain to you. This anime makes me so confused, what is in the many comments including the spoilers is not like what this anime is. There are too much alterations of reality of this anime according to my point of view, either as this anime itself or some other aspect like the characters or the plot itself by many people and I can be one of them.
I'm not sure if I can explain these things to you because even though I have read and watched lots of explanations from many sources or comments in many anime websites, articles or videos, I'm not sure if all the explanations are as the movie portrays them or not, there are lots of interpretations. I don't mean that I don't want to explain but, as I have said before, I can be one of them who have altered the true reality of this anime and I don't want to alter more, I just want to be objective as far as I can.
What I'm going to do is more than just a casual review, it should be as in-depth and detailed explanation from many factors, reasons, and related things, I'll make it as I can. For that, I have to watch this anime again and make lots of new scenarios to get the meeting point of all the scenes in this anime. I'm not sure but I'll try it, this would br my very first review and I hope this would be a very very good review without any further explanation about this review after I make it , although this review including all of the explanations will be very long.
I hope that I won't make the meaning of this anime more blurry or even to lose its meaning because that might mean people won't watch this even though this anime is highly recommended by me. I think the more people make or give interpretations about this anime the more this anime can't be understood and the more it can't be understood the more the reality of this anime altered and the more the reality of this anime altered the more people need explanations and interpretations. I need some time to learn more about this anime.
