Beyoncé personally paid 100k to keep the DC metro running an additional hour, as it usually stops running after a certain time of night, when weather delayed her show in DC this weekend. the ENTIRE Metro, all 98 metro stations not just the rail from the stadium to the larger stations, to make sure fans got home safely. that was a huge concern of mine when we had potential weather issues looming for the NY show (which ultimately didn't happen thankfully) because the NJ transit trains stop at 1 am, so that is INCREDIBLY kind and a huge relief to hear. Petition to replace all uses of the phrase 'Immersive Experience' with 'Pretend,' because I think that would fix a lot of problems in our society.

"Immersive Experiences" conjures up the following concepts: expensive, state-of-the-art, limited-time-only, once-in-a-lifetime, a staggering artistic achievement, sophisticated entertainment for adults, severe FOMO if you miss out. That's a tall order to live up to.

"Pretend" activities are fun, childish, require you to use your imagination, and don't claim to be anything more than what they are. If it turns out to be something even better, then it's just a pleasant surprise!

Any element that breaks the 'immersion' instantly deflates an 'immersive experience' like a pin popping a balloon, like glowing exit signs, exposed warehouse ceilings, staff members wearing New Balance Sneakers under their wizard robes, velvet ropes you have to stay between, but all of those things are perfectly welcome in, say, a haunted Halloween maze or a theme park ride because the whole point of those things is to be pretend. An 'immersive safari attraction' that doesn't completely fool my five senses into thinking I'm outdoors on an African savanna is a failure at a immersion but a pretty great "Pretend Safari" ride.

This is especially true if you're not good at or simply don't like pretending. Why do all of the same people who post about hating playing pretend with their kids ALSO book overpriced tickets to every "immersive experience" that comes to town?

Somehow it feels normal to charge $75 for a "King Tut's Tomb Immersive Experience" in a "secret location" that ticketholders only get directions to after booking, yet absolutely stark raving bonkers to charge $75 for a "Pretend King Tut's Tomb" located in a warehouse on the outskirts of town that shares walls with a Greyhound station and a lawnmower repair company, but they're the same thing, baby.

(And yes, if you're wondering, I did watch that new Jenny Nicholson video, or at least the first half of it. Hard to imagine charging $6,000 for "Pretend Star Wars.")

I think the new tickets are arranged in Boarding Groups.

They're boarding tickets. It's not hard a huge jump to make.

I've laid out a simple chart using some theoretical placements. If you look at the chart knowledge we have confirmed, you can tell there's... definitely some sort of pattern going on with the arrangements of the tickets and the languages of the ticketholder. The only thing I can say for certain is that no language group is next to one another.

With the rule of "no language twice in a row" If I fill in players who have not yet received a ticket, there's only a limited amount of space. Wilbur is quite literally the only English streamer left besides DanTDM who has not received a ticket, (though Lenay could also be considered an English CC, depending if she is participating). Kameto I would say is confirmed to have a tickets but hasn't received it, due to the fact he was brought to the dice game. I cannot say for certain which Spanish CC would be the ones brought back, but I lean toward Missa for one of them. (edit: I was right!!) Mike is also conjecture, he could theoretically not be participating at all.

What this leads me to next is that I think there is a pattern, it's just not obvious when you look at the tickets in a full group like this. Which brings me to my next point: Boarding Pass Groups!!

Either we have six groups of five.

Or we have five groups of six.

And what's important here? Every group has a single ticket that's labelled differently so far.

The hypothetical specialized tickets, then, should be Six Groups of Five: A. Wilbur B. [Kameto/Etoiles] C. Slimecicle D. Philza E. [Spanish CC] F. Quackity Five Groups of Six: A. Wilbur B. Slimecicle C. Philza D. [Spanish CC] E. Quackity

Edit: I no longer strongly believe they could be six groups of five, as Etoiles has no special qualities to his ticket, and if the special ticket per group part is true, it discounts Group 6-10 from having a special ticket within it if it were six groups of five.

Now, this does bring up the question of why they would need to be sorting all of the players into groups, but... I don't know! I got nothing for that one.

Again, there's like, fair criticisms of this theory and I'm sure I didn't think of absolutely everything here, but it lines up fairly well to me in terms of splitting up the groups evenly for... some reason.

andrew and neil ride a roller coaster

OH BOY i have a whole wip brewing that's like a study of andrew's fear of heights so this has my thoughts reeling in like the least-funny directions 😂 but wait hmmmm i can do it i can find the crack!!! or maybe just random kidfic? anyway:

there's something to be said about people's desperation to not repeat the mistakes of their parents. andrew, who justifiably has many opinions on how adults should treat children, can acknowledge that this is a noble pursuit.

however: aaron's children are fucking spoiled.

emily, still recovering from a fried dough-related meltdown, is relatively quiet now that neil has picked her up and allowed her to hide her face in his neck. she's really getting too big for this behavior, but again: spoiled. aaron's other gremlin is gripping andrew's hand with the strength of a professional athlete as she guides them through the crowded fairground.

this whole thing is neil's fault. andrew isn't sure what kind of deal he and aaron have made this time, but it involved babysitting for the long weekend while aaron and katelyn take a vacation. this alone? not a big deal. but katelyn had apparently promised to take the twins to the fair this weekend, and neil's commitment to the bit means the four of them are here: sunburned and sweat-sticky in this dusty wasteland of cow poop, rickety rides, and the unrelenting cheer of carnival music.

"three tickets each," fiona reads proudly, pointing to the ride that she has led them to. fiona is unruffled by the crowds or the sun that has turned her cheeks pink despite the layers of sunscreen they have lathered on her all day. "three tickets for me and three tickets for you," she says to andrew.

she holds her free hand up to neil, today's ticketholder. palm up, expectant, unaware of a reality where she could be denied. "six, please."

neil adjusts his grip on emily as he digs in his pocket for the roll of tickets. emily resurfaces long enough to demand that she gets to count off the six tickets, and andrew is struck by the patience on neil's face as emily tears them off one by one to hand to fiona. it did not come naturally: neil avoided the twins as newborns, and then was generally unsure of what to do with them for a long time. andrew supposes they've all done some growing up in the last five years.

"i can go with her, if you'd prefer," neil says to andrew. andrew glowers in response. it's a kids coaster -- barely taller than a second story building and moving slower than a golf cart. andrew does not need to be coddled.

emily makes a pitiful sound at neil's suggestion, dropping the remaining tickets as she wraps her arms around neil's neck in refusal. neil huffs a laugh, shifting again to ensure he doesnt drop her. fiona dives to grab the tickets, shooting a significant stink eye at her sister as she hands them to andrew.

"don't worry, uncle andrew," fiona says. "i'll hold your hand if you're scared."

andrew wasn't wrong: the coaster is slow and the dips aren't steep. but they are still enough to send his stomach swooping. fiona shrieks happily every time, and andrew will give aaron's kids one thing: they understand the sanctity of a promise. fiona never lets go of andrew's hand.
