“I let myself in.” The visitor turned, jangling a set of keys, and revealed themselves to have a suitcase by their feet. In fact, Gar recognised the face from the various newspaper headlines and television interviews.

Raven walked into the room searching for Beast Boy and noticed his dumbfounded expression. “Hey, Gar… is everything okay?”

Gar grabbed his friend by the arms and wheeled her to face the newest guest.

“Raven, this is Y/n.” He introduced.

The name clicked a few gears in place and Raven paused. “Y/n as in-?”

“As in the one who saved the world from annihilation a few years ago.” Dick finished as he too joined this impromptu gathering with Dove and Hawk also making their way into the kitchen to prepare themselves some breakfast. “Gar, Raven, meet my dear friend and mentor.”

You smiled and stretched out your hand. “I’m pleased to meet you both. I’m just in town for a few days to get something for a friend.” You explained.

The young Titan members excitably shook your hand and expressed how excited they were to learn from you. Dick watched on with a smile. He was glad to see you again. You were a huge part of his upbringing, reminding him to be gentle and patient.

“Did you have a favourite Robin?” Gar wondered curiously.

“They say that parents don’t have a favourite kid.” You winked.

Dick crossed his arms and smirked. “But you did.”

“Was it Dick? I bet it was Dick.” Gar guessed excitably.

You laughed and shook your head. “First of all, I love both my Robin’s equally. But there was one who definitely got a little extra attention.”

At that moment, the second Robin waltzed in and drummed his hands on the tables as he passed each of the Titans by.

“Final call - beat me in the training grounds and I’ll buy lunch for a week. Unless you’re too scared.” He challenged with a laugh and disappeared behind the staircase doors.

Hank raised a hand, “I do like the sound of that.” He confessed and followed the young Titan out.

It was like the pieces clicked for Gar and his jaw dropped. “Jason? He’s your favourite Robin? How is that even possible?”

You exhaled and sent Beast Boy a shrug. You walked across to make a cup of coffee.

“Dick was the golden child. He was mannered, did everything that was asked of him. And Jason, well, he keeps me on my toes.”

She knew she should have gone with Donna, that now she knew who she was, and after being so close of hurting Rachel, she should keep her distance. Being around them, around him, was just indulging in temptation and that could only result in heartbreak.

And yet, just five minutes of saying goodbye and getting into Donna’s car, she turned the vehicle around – ignoring Donna’s shouts that she would kill them – and followed the path Dick had taken towards San Francisco until she saw the minivan honking madly until he pulled over.

The way he had smiled at her them, the sunlight making his sweet brown eyes glimmer. Kory knew she was a goner. 

There was a silly fight over rooms, Jason didn’t want to share his with Gar, and Dick didn’t trust him to be alone, so he had to share with Jason and Rachel joined Gar without explaining herself. It hurt Kory, but she couldn’t blame the girl. 

Of course she had fantasied about him coming to her door, but it didn’t take the impact when he did. 

He looked so... Vulnerable there, standing in his pyjama, hair still wet from the shower, open and closing his mouth like a fish. 

She grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him inside without a world. Last time, she knew, he might have been the one to suggest they should stop, but only because he read on her face that she wasn’t comfortable with getting into a relationship while she didn’t know who she was, and when she put that in words it kind of sealed the deal. But know she knew who she was, she just needed to admit that for the first time in her live what she wanted to do and what was expected of her couldn’t be more different. 

“I...” he finally blurted as the door closed behind him. 

Kory licked her lips, and smiled as his eyes followed, and for a moment she contemplated trying to say something, to discuss first, even to tease him about not even doing the curtsy of bringing her a bottle of cheap booze. 

But to the hell with that, to the hell of getting to know each other now they knew who they were, to the hell... They would have time for that later. 

She pushed him to he bed and then crawled over, not quite sitting on him yet, but hoovering her hips over his, grabbing his face and putting her mouth over his. 

Even if she ever returned to Tamaran, right there, wrapped around his tongue, and safe behind his teeth, she found home. 

His fingers entered her hair, massaging her scalp lovingly while his free hand held her waist, digging his fingers in her flesh with the urgency he was trying to disguise in the slow, meticulous way he was letting her kiss him. 

The kiss was a difficult one to break, even thought he was the one who needed oxygen to live, every time she even attempted of making a pause, his lips followed back to hers, and they would lose themselves in another kiss. On a given moment, when she kissed his jaw, trying to spread her kisses down, and let the Earth boy breath a little, he pulled her mouth back to his with both hands, and she laughed. 

She only won a little bit of freedom, when tired of hoovering, she let her thighs relax, sat down, her hot core uncomfortably clenching meeting the rock hard bulge in his pants.

Chapter 10 Finale

Summary:

...the sweltering heat won’t allow them to fully relax.

In the distance the sound of helicopters trigger Dick’s senses. “Did you hear that?”

Kory sits up. “Yeah I think we need to get back.”

They walk briskly back to the suv and Dick hops in the passenger as Kory expertly shifts the gears as she reverses kicking up dust as they speed back to the compound.

The closer they get the louder the helicopters roar, hovering above the front garden. To Dick’s surprise Donna is waiting with Rachel, tears streaming down her face, as the approach. Gar is not far away. Him, Kom, and Conner on the other side.

“Dick, we have to go now.” She wastes no time for pleasantries. She smiles at Kory sympathetically. “They were launching boats off the coast, Dick. Right before I took off. They know about her. They know.”

Well, Well, would you look at that! A Titans fic! Cody back on his Gar-focused fic bullshit? You know it!! 💚💚💚

So far I'm enjoying season 4 much more than seasons 2 - 3 and absolutely thriving with all the Gar screen time!! I'm very excited to see how his story is going to unfold in canon but before this week's episode I wanted to post a quick one-shot based around the idea of Gar meeting The Red since saying I love the idea of The Red being a huge part of Gar's storyline would be the understatement of the century.. I mean have you seen my recent posts? lol

This fic is very much inspired by the scene from 4x02 where Gar is running through the woods while a voice is whispering to him (which I think is The Red) and all of my motivation to write came from me obsessing over that scene, trying to figure out what the voice was whispering to him

I threw around ideas for a fic about The Red for months now and I never stuck with one.. until this one! I'm definitely glad I waited, watching season 4 and the woods scene gave me all the inspiration and ideas I needed to write this! And there's some DickKory sprinkled in for my friends 👀
