just a nice, friendly reminder of newt's letter to thomas to those who forgot about this delightful moment that made us all cry:

Dear Thomas,

This is the first letter I can remember writing. Obviously I don't know if I've written any letters before the Maze. But even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last. I want you to know that I'm not afraid. Of dying, anyway. It’s more of forgetting. It's losing myself to this virus, that's what scares me. So every night I've been saying their names out loud: Alby, Winston, Chuck. And I just repeat them over and over like a prayer. And it all comes flooding back. Just the little things. Like when the sun used to hit the glade at the perfect moment, right before it'd slip beneath the walls. And I remember the taste of Frypan's stew. I'd never thought I'd miss that stuff so much.

I remember you. I remember you first coming up in the box, just a scared little greenie, who couldn't even remember his own name. But from the moment you ran into the maze, I knew that I would follow you anywhere. And I have. We all have. If I could do it all over again, I would, and I wouldn't change a thing. My hope for you is when you're looking back, years from now, is that you'll stay the same. The future is in your hands now, Tommy, and I know you'll find a way to do what's right. You always have.

no bc they should’ve kept that deleted scene in tmr bc it showed how close winston and minho were. winston wasn’t sure about going with thomas BUT he knew minho and trusted his judgment enough so he followed them. when winston died, it hurt minho more than it showed bc they were obviously a little close.

Summary: Reader is sad because Winston is going to kill himself.

A/N: I decided to write ths because there isn't enough Winston content. This is my first fic, and English isn't my first language so sorry for bad grammar and stuff.

We were all standing around Winston, who didn't seem to be okay.

"It's growing." He mumbled, while lifting his shirt. Everyone looked horrified. "I'm not going to make it." He added.

"No, don't worry. You'll be fine." I stammered.

"No, (Y/N), I won't make it." He reached out his hand for the gun in Frypan's hand. "Please, please, don't let me turn into one of those, please."

Everone stared at him for a moment until Newt took the gun from Fry and gave it to Winston.

"Newt-" Thomas wanted to say something, but I stopped him. Newt gave the gun to Winston. "Thank you." He muttered. "Now...get out of here."

"Goodbye, Winston." Newt whispered. Afterwards he stood up and started to pack our shit. Everyone followed. Exept for Thomas.

"It's okay..." Winston said. "I'm sorry." Thomas replied with tears in his eyes. He grabbed his things to follow the others.

""Thomas...take care of them." Winston mumbled. Thomas nodded and followed the others. Now it was just me and Winston. I was trying not to cry, for his sake. I failed and I teared up.

"It's okay, (Y/N), it's okay." He muttered again.

I remebered the moments in the Glade where we would say that maybe, somewhere in another life, we would be happy.

"In another life, Winston?" I smiled trough my tears.

"In another life." He replied. "Now go."

I kissed his forehead and ran to the others. We walked on a dune, when suddenly...

A gunshot. Winston was dead.

What a guy, in the books he was as described “acne faced and smelled” which- Rude Thomas.

But since I’m doing movie/book versions of the characters I wanted to keep this detail, but in a more animator/comic friendly manner.

I made him more anxious looking, he stays in the glade thinking it’d be safer than the outside world, he doesn’t stay because he likes Gally.

He gets a pair of gloves and an apron, I like to imagine the pockets of the apron are deep and he can hide things in the gloves if necessary.

And a hair band! Because he just needed something more.

Now of course this is going to have some romance, so I have narrowed it down to a few characters that I'd actually want to write this series for, and just a warning this will be a slow burn fic and full of angst

i started rereading the maze runner series after having read it in middle school and my god is it so much darker than i remember. like i just finished the part where winston gets attacked by the molten metal thing in scorch trials. and dang was that violent, like i kind of understand why the movies went another direction

i just kind of digested how all those who have died—chuck, newt, teresa, alby, zart, winston, and so many more—never got to experience life before theirs was taken away from them. they never got to share that joy we get when our parents say they’re proud of us, or find time to watch shows and post about it on the internet. they couldn’t have their dream job, buy their favorite clothes, or look at the city in delight. because even in the modern, advanced world they lived in, there wasn’t enough time for them to experience these things. all they knew was the glade, the gladers, the creators, and for some if they were lucky, the scorch and the last city. but even then, they couldn’t live life to the fullest.

and now, their friends who survived it all have to remember them for longer than they knew them.

TMR Book vs Movie shock

As a book maze runner fan who only read the books. I will admit I was a bit shocked watching The Scorch Trials today. Like don't get me wrong it's not a bad movie. It's just different. Like it made me question if I even read the books, lol. Like I was so confuzzled when Brenda wasn't immune and how Winston died, and by all the changes made in that movie. And not gonna lie, I'm one of those people who get a bit mad when movies don't match up at least mainly like the books, but ngl I was kinda hooked. It feels like re-experiencing the maze runner.

But trust me if you've only watched the movies..read the books because there are many things the movies did not capture. And even though the main thing, a group of kids trynna escape wicked, happens. And even though some of the main parts of the characters happen. It feels like the two are somehow different. Like they go about it in different ways. And it's so cool because it shows that...sometimes it's like other dimensions. Like what could happen in another universe with the same shit, but done differently. Like the Spiderman movies. How it's all the same characters just different plot same story. It's kinda cool tbh.
