if frank burns was allowed one (1) truly redeeming moment in the entire show that gave him some dimension but also was tasteful enough that it didn’t attempt to downplay how terrible he is or undermine his role as a parody of conservative awfulness... what would have been that moment?

#mine #txt #ive seen ppl discuss how charles and potter are kind of inherently aligned with being Bad #with charles as a conservative republican classist capitalist and potter as a career army man #and yet the show WANTS you to like them. it makes an effort to depict them as endearing.#and i mean. i love charles and im glad he's a well crafted character #but arguably there is something irresponsible about the way early seasons mash made such an effort...#to paint certain ppl as Purely Bad. and yet in the later seasons #for the sake of good writing ofc. and to serve a show tht was rapidly becoming more dramatic #but they got more grey with it. less black and white #less army is bad and conservative values are bad and more. hey look! potter n charles are likeable guys!#again i adore charles a lot and potter's fine as a person. but yeah that's one of the issues i have with later mash #frank is never allowed to be intentionally endearing like they are. ofc if ur me and ur an idiot u find him endearing anyway #but yeah #oh fuck i shouldve put tags to get this into the mash tag at the beginning WTF #whatever.
